Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Part 2 - Balthier, Ashe and Vayne + Overall Review
Tumblr media
I am surprised at the assassination of Emperor Gramis, and I’m not sure what to think of it. I wouldn’t discount Vayne from being capable of killing his father, since really, killing him presents more pros than cons, especially considering his old age and his alignment with peace (like Larsa) rather than war and military might (that Vayne grew up with and believes in). In addition, with the greedy Senate constantly trying to put Larsa as a puppet on the throne, Vayne needs to solidify his rule if he wants to protect Larsa and the Empire imo. Tbh, with how Vayne seems to be, I feel like he wants to do all the dirty work and then have Larsa get to live peacefully or something. On the other hand, Gabranth seems rather loyal to Gramis, since he was giving him updates on Vayne. He also seems to be aligned with Larsa, it was kinda hard to watch him have to kill the other lady Judge that was on his side to prove his fealty to Vayne though.
Tumblr media
Who would have thought that Balthier was once upon a time a judge for a brief time? And to think that his father is the Cid guy at Draklor lab obsessed with nethicite. I think it must have been pretty disheartening to see his father like that and even have to make the choice to run away instead of staying with him. I think I can kinda understand better why Balthier chose to continue to go on this journey with everyone. He’s been running away from everything all this time, he probably thinks that it’s about time he faced it all, especially when despite all his efforts to escape from his father etc, in the end he gets roped up with Ashe and them anyway. It was nice of Balthier to tell Ashe his story hoping that she wouldn’t follow in the footsteps of his father, and be obsessed with the powers of a stone to rule Dalmasca. Cid seems pretty interesting! Not only does he have Venat (one of the Occurians, a heretic though) beside him, but I thought his plan to lead the party to Giruvegan to get the nethicite/treaty sword was smart. Well, the party don’t really have a choice either way though even if it’s a trap, since they do need the power, and only Ashe could have been chosen by the Occurians to wield it (due to her having the Dynast-King’s blood). I have to say though, Giruvegan was an annoying place lmao, I honestly didn’t remember anything much about FFXII, but I definitely remember summoning Belias to get through, and I probably got lost the first time as well, because dang were those areas a hassle to get through lol. But seriously, you can tell with how the Occuria acted with Ashe that they see humans as beneath them, and they just want to use Ashe to destroy the Empire because they’re trying to forge a future without their “guidance”. Yay, I always love guests so it’s nice to have Reddas join the party to venture to the Sun-Cryst. It’s kinda interesting how big of a decision Ashe will have to make when she gets there though. Will she choose to destroy it and all the nethicite or will she choose to break a piece off of it to make nethicite strong enough to fight against the Dawn Shard etc? It’s kinda nice but also saddening that Balthier is leaving the Strahl (his airship) to Vaan if anything were to happen to him…
Tumblr media
I thought it was pretty cool to see how so many people around Ashe were trying to influence her decision, especially with the appearance of Gabranth revealing why Reddas decided to come here with them; it’s because he was also an ex-Judge, and he used the Midlight Shard once upon a time and destroyed Nabudis. It was because of that, he wanted Ashe to not repeat his mistake. Cid is certainly pretty out of his mind due to his research and will to experiment, it’s kinda saddening that Balthier and the others had to kill him in order to stop him. At the same time though, I feel like for Cid, he feels sane whilst insane? Haha. Is this the first time a Cid in the FF games has been evil though? How interesting~ Didn’t think the Sun-Cryst would go crazy like that though, it was disheartening to watch Reddas sacrifice his life to break it using the sword, never really realised that anyone could wield the sword to break it though, I thought it had to be Ashe lol. Either way, a difficult end, but something that one of them had to do. To think that the Sun-Cryst awakened Bahamut though! That is something to look forward to. Terrible that the impending war is now practically happening now though, and Dalmasca will be the battleground. Larsa’s heart is in the right place, but Vayne is right, if Larsa wants to show and prove that Vayne’s methods are wrong, he needs to muster the power to show him that his way is right then. Vayne is ruthless but that’s how he’s survived all this time and protected Larsa. It’s not easy when he has to put his guard up against most of the people around him. It was pretty brutal when Vayne shot that laser and destroyed a few of the Marquis’ ships, the Marquis honestly really doesn’t have much of a choice but to rely on Ashe and party to stop Vayne from inside the Bahamut tbh. I guess it’s good that Larsa is helping them out lol.
Tumblr media
Well that last bit leading to the ending wasn’t long at all! Legit just defeat Gabranth and then killed three forms of Vayne and you’re done! Anyway, I’m not sure how I feel about the ending because it felt kind of rushed. But I guess I didn’t mind it either. I really liked how loyal Gabranth was to Larsa, so it was kinda saddening to see him die, but I think it was great to see Basch fulfill his dying wish by succeeding him as a judge and thus supporting Larsa’s rule. I think it’s really interesting how they truly are twins in the sense that even though they were on different sides, their loyalty to their liege was very similar throughout the game. Honestly though, it’s hard to think of Vayne as an “evil” person, like yes, he’s done terrible things that has caused people to die, I don’t doubt that, but I think you can really understand his motivations? He’s always been protective of Larsa, so a lot of my impressions of what Vayne did kinda felt like he set up everything that came to be through his regime of violence was so that he could give the best setting for Larsa’s idea of peaceful negotiations between countries to come to be. With the state of the Empire as it was when Gramis was alive or even when he died etc, it was obvious that Larsa didn’t have the power and influence to achieve what he wanted, but through Vayne’s actions, people were able to see the contrast between them. Also, Vayne needed to ensure that the Occuria who still think they have the right to interfere and rule over humans had no more power in doing that, in order to ensure that Larsa in the future wouldn’t have to encounter such problems. Destroying the Sun-Cryst fulfilled that and I’m happy they were able to free humanity even if their methods were questionable. I think Vayne underestimated Larsa’s strength and conviction though, but I think he’d be happy if he was wrong about that imo.
Tumblr media
Anyway! Seeing Balthier the leading man protect Dalmasca by directing the falling Bahamut elsewhere with Fran was awesome! I knew he wouldn’t die, but I found it hilarious how later on, he just randomly took his Strahl back from Vaan and Penelo who were maintaining it hahaha. I also found Penelo’s new look really cute! Much better than her old look haha. It would be nice to see it as a costume in DFFOO! I find Ashe’s ending rather lonesome and saddening? She did everything to reclaim her throne and her people, and yet in the end, she loses the people she journeyed with to become Queen. I guess it’s normal though, and I guess like Penelo, I do hope that Basch can one day go back to be beside her. It’s nice to see that Vaan and Penelo get to be like Balthier and Fran, and travel together as sky pirates haha. I wish we actually got to see Balthier and Fran again though. Oh well.
Overall, honestly FFXII kinda renders the same feelings I did when I first played it, maybe it’s a bit more positive this time though! Like, really, I did enjoy the story but I definitely found the characters and their development lacking, mainly everyone aside from Balthier, Vayne and maybe Ashe, but then Ashe only really drives the story and doesn’t really thrive as a character so hmm. I feel like they could have added more scenes to really develop the others because I felt that I was just following along for the story, but didn’t really care for the characters. I still really liked Balthier’s personality and his background though and I find that the highlight of FFXII, especially when he interacted with Ashe and kinda told her about his past. But yeah, there were a lot of scenes I liked and I did enjoy it overall, but I’m not a fan of the gameplay either, so I kinda gave up on the side missions hahaha. I honestly took so long to finish the game because I just couldn’t get into it lol. BUT, I love how customisable the gambits are omg! It’s so crazy how much time I put into experimenting with them haha, but despite that, I found the gameplay rather tedious so I just went through the story. And yes, the story is really short imo, it felt like it would have been a great movie instead haha. Also yes, if FFVII Remake had even a tiny bit of these gambits, I think I would have cried in frustration less lmao. Anywho! Nice story, execution kinda choppy and short but still good, gameplay average, and characters just a means to an end. 7/10 imo haha.

I just found your profile and I love your style so much!
AHHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Anon said:From kami's-hair-is-hard-to-doodle anon from a while back: I finally got it! Thank you so much for your advice - reading and rereading your tips kept me practicing! I'd also like to thank the Academy /orz
I’m glad it could help you at all!!!! :O Kami keeps on being a mystery to me (and Horikoshi himself ???) too so don’t get too down on yourself for it taking time haha
Anon said:Ive sent you a couple of asks before but Im just so in love with the content you produce. Like not only is your art style so cute and stuff, but the plot/story (Idk) of each post is just so original and adorable. Im just so blown away by everything you post. Thank you for sharing your art!!!! Have a good week!!
Anon said:Hi! I’m new to your blog but love your art, I think your very talented which is why I’d like to ask a question. Do you have any advice for posing? I noticed your very good at it and wondered if you have any tips. If you do answer this, Thank you!!
Firstly, thank you so much for the compliments!!! I don’t know how useful exactly any advice I could give you will be, since most of it comes from drawing a lot and watching drawings even more, but in general to pick a pose usually what I do is think of the scene as if in movement? As in, what the characters are doing, and how they’d move if I were looking at them while doing it - keeping in mind the characters personalities helps me with this a lot too.
Take for example the confessions drawings I’ve posted a couple of days ago: it’s true that there’s no words nor movement anywhere in them, but as I drew them I had a pretty clear idea of what they were saying and how the characters would react in those situations - Jirou’s shy and easily flustered, so she’s averting her eyes, unable to keep eye contact, and closing in on herself a bit, hiding her face and so on; in the concept, Kaminari was the one who confessed, so he’s holding her hand, tentative, because he’s unsure about how she’s gonna answer (it’s all stuff that didn’t actually make it in the drawing, how he reached for her hand, how he’s gonna close his other hand around her knuckles, but in my head it was a complete scene and I just picked one frame of it all to draw). The same goes for Bakugou and Kirishima - they’re rowdier, louder, more assertive and inclined to take everything as a fight, so this time around I went for a scene in which Bakugou straight out yells his feelings at Kirishima and Kirishima answers me too (again, I had the before and after in my head too, I just picked the frame that best coveyed what I was trying to do)
As I said I’m usure about how much this might help you orz it’s just my way of doing things, and it mostly comes from the fact that I was originally a writer honestly, so thinking of a whole scene makes things easier for me #rip
Anon said:Can I say, I really like the colors for your confession pictures! :>
THANK YOU??????? H E C K ;O;
Anon said:hi~ i just went through literally everything in your sketches tag and i just wanna say i love your art and your comics and stuff. also because i went through everything, i want to bring attention to how cool it is to see how much your style has changed! your lines seem more confident and your characters more dynamic in the last few years :D

Anon said:I love it when you draw cuddly bakugou!! Its wonderful!!
THAT’S!!!! super great to hear cause I could probably draw only that for the foreseeable future and not mind it one bit holy smoke
Anon said:THE HUG COMICS ARE THE BEST COMICS, I LOVE HUGS AND BAKUGOU BEING PHYSICALLY AFFECTIONATE IS SOMETHING I LOVE, A++++, WOULD RECOMMEND.
HONESTLY BAKUGOU NEEDS ALL THE HUGS AND IF I MUST BE THE ONE TO GIVE THEM ALL TO HIM THEN SO BE IT
Anon said:all ur comics are fucking delightful and make my day everytime. i ve read them all like too many times? i read each multiple times in a row and im still giddy? i love them i love u
I!!!!!!! LOVE YOU TOO???? HOLY SHIT THANK YOU
Anon said:*sigh* soft-phisical contact lover bakugou save my week. And kiri is the most wonderfull sunshine and no one cant discuss that *sit down in the floor and manly crying*
Kiri is the brightest sunshine isn’t he ;^; the sun to Bakugou’s moon, it makes me weak and I cry a lot
Anon said:I never knew I could be so weak for kiribaku omg fran what have you done to me, on that note what little things do you think theyd do to take care of each other? Like kinda lowkey stuff theyd quietly do? Ahh anyway thank you so much for all the wonderful drawings, hope everything is going well for you :)
Well, this is just the feeling I got, but I’d say they do plenty for each other quietly and softly in canon too, don’t they? Bakugou especially, pointing out to Kirishima his strength when he can’t see it for himself and always trying to find a way to cheer him up when he’s down and giving him space when he needs it, training together, studying together, worrying over one another, Kiri making sure to always know what’s up with Bakugou and following him to help him, just generally being there for each other so that if and when they need they’ll know they’ll have someone they can lean on - their relationship is really mutually supportive, isn’t it? I cry so much they make me so happy ;^; *sob*
Anon said:When season 3 comes out wouldnt it be fun if krbk fans filmed their ch.90 being animated reactions?? I think it'd be so cool/cute to see all the emotions! What do you think?
You know, I’m pretty sure that IS gonna happen? People make reaction videos for so many things! It’s nice and fun, honestly, I love it~
Anon said:I really love the way you draw spiky hair! It looks so floofy and soft.
Boi thank you!!!! Spikes are super nice to draw, though admittedly I make them less spiky then they’re probably supposed to be haha
Anon said:As someone who adores Sero Hanta And is a die hard krbk fan can I just say how much I love you? Like I was having a rough-ish day and I can’t stop smiling now because of your latest comic. Seriously, I love you and your art is everything.
I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKED THAT ONE!!!!!!!! I adore Sero if I had any better clue how to draw him I’d draw him all the time always, true story, he’s such a fave ;^;
Anon said:OMG Fran!!! I want Bakugou's name tattooed on all their faces now!! Hahahaha!
You know, one of my first krbk fanarts was Bakugou writing his name on Kirishima’s forehead, actually....................

what are your thoughts about bakugou and midoriya's relationship? platonic, i mean
I live and die for it, every part of the manga in which that relationship is shown progressing is between my favorite parts of the manga and I’ve reread them a hundred times and cried over them way more than necessary - the battle trial one? yes, the end of terms exam? absolutely yes holy shit, the post-license exam fight? god yes fuck me that’s my absolute fav, the rescue arc? shit yes between all the reasons why that arc’s my fave the change in the deku/baku relationship is definitely a worthy of note one
It’s an interesting relationship, a painful one that’s making both of them grow so so so much, a rivalry they both need to better each other and keep each other straight on the path to become two great, all-around heroes - I’m not sure they’ll ever end up having the type of relationship Izuku has with Todoroki or Bakugou with Kirishima, I don’t think it’s possible for them to be friends like that, they’re just too different to properly fit like that and to avoid stepping on each other’s toes every single day of their lives they’d have to change their core personalities too much, but they did end up being able to coexist (Bakugou’s even giving Deku tips!!!) and I do think they’ll be able to cooperate and support each other in the end. If one day they’ll be able to make fun of each other in a friendly manner and egg each other on and be honest with each other without it escalating into a full blown fight I’d truly be happy, that’s probably my main dream for this whole manga. For them to have a healthy rivalry, one in which they can maybe even laugh together. I think it might happen, I’m waiting for it to happen
Anon said:Hi Fran! I'm obsessed with your BakuShimaNari work. Here's a cute thought to hopefully cheer you up a bit while you're unable to draw: they're all in their early 20s and Denki likes to poke/smooth out the little crease between Bakugo's eyebrows and tease him about getting wrinkles early from all the scowling he does. Bakugo flicks him in the nose and says he's starting to get crows feet from always grinning like an idiot.
Oh my god. Oh my g o d this is the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. Oh my g OD I’m just imagining them doing that and Kiri in the background watching them like they’re most precious thing in the world I’m dying rip me this just made my whole life thank you so much anon *sob*
Anon said:You are wonderful. That BakuKiriKami art just made me cry again after this chapter but I so needed it. I hope your hand heals up quickly!
I hope so too!!!! And thank you so much, I’m glad you liked it!!! ;A; tho I’m sorry for having made you cry rip
Anon said:Maybe Kirishima's hair is like haru from fruits basket, it changes colour when it reaches a certain length, and he decided to either dye the roots to match the long part or the long part to match the roots.
I’m effin laughing my ass off imagining the “you’ll never convince me that hair is natural” scene but with Iida I’m crying
But seriously if his hair did something fancy like that I don’t think the current Kirishima would try to hide it? Hair that naturally grows like that is flashy!
Anon said:KiriBaku, KamiJirou, AshidoSero, u feel me? I personally ship TodoMomo and IzuOcha as well but u know each to their own
tbh I ship all the ships mentioned in this ask to at least a certain degree, so yeah, I definitely feel you haha
Anon said:Fran can i ask why you ship BokuTeruKuroo ? like i understand why you ship BoKuroo, they are friend and so funny and cute with each other but do they have interaction with Terushima ? because i watch the anime and only start reading the manga and there's no interaction between them in it
What a question lmao no, no they never interact with Teru, it’s a crack ship haha I don’t really have a reason to ship it tbh, I just think Teru’s personality would fit nicely with Bo and Kuroo - Teru’s one of my fave characters in Haikyuu and I like shipping my faves around, but he’s interacted with only his teammates and Karasuno so everything else is just crack... I like a whole bunch of Teru ships tbh, bokuroteru is the one I’ve drawn the most for a bit by accident and a bit because they’re the ones with the most entertaining possible dynamics, to me? They’re a bunch of excited silly kids, that’s fun!
Anon said:I am literally in tears over the last chapter when will Horikoshi step away from my sunshine boy and let him rest? This isn't what I meant when I said I wanted Kirishima to have a bigger role in this arc
;-; boi do I feel this ask
(I still want more of him tho, last time he hadn’t been around for a few weeks I was a complete mess, pls don’t take him away from me again Hori ;A;)
Anon said:Fraannnnn why would you do this I had enough feelings about THIS EXACT SCENARIO and you had to go and make me feel more with your beautiful art How could you
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m taking this as you’ve liked it!!! Which makes me happy tbh haha though I’m sorry for the more pain, that wasn’t my intention #oops thank you anyway, tho!!
Anon said:i wanted to cry bc of ch 143, kiri was amazing and fat was amazing and and .... but really though ...hori just doesn't wanna give it to us, does he ?
I don’t think I’ll ever have Kirishima’s backstory at this point. I’m giving up. I’ll just make up my own version of it. Kirishima’s had a beautiful past with a lot of happiness a great family with loving parents and both older and younger siblings that love him more than they love air, he’s got three pet turtles and a dog and the only reason why he had his hair dyed black was because he went through a really intense goth phase. That’s it, that’s my version, Hori can keep the sadness for himself
(...not please gimme the actual backstory already I’m dying)
Anon said:U ok after ch143, Fran? 'cause I'm not... 😭
...how can anyone love Kirishima and be okay after 143 tbh ;-;
Anon said:your answers to the ask for what would baku get the others ommmmmmg. fran you are AMAZING!! >///
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m happy you liked those omfg!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you!!!!
Anon said:I feel so bad abt the new chap bc my boy kiri is gonna hate himself so much abt being '''useless''' even if he wasnt and oh goodness he's going to beat himself up for this forever... i thought hori was gonna give him a sudden 'bout of strength & realization' to beat the enemy, but instead hes getting quite the realistic(which is good but sad) outcome from the fight... hes gonna be so mad with himself while recovering boy pls no u were great ;~;
I really hope something’ll happen and he won’t feel like that, but who knows ;-; on one side it would mean that his character arc still isn’t over, which is a lot more Kiri for me and that’s great, but on the other please don’t make him suffer anymore ;;--;;
Anon said:Though it was kinda 'forced', thank you for drawing mineta. I really liked seeing him in your art style. He's perverted but like Denki he's a good kid as well, too bad most people have him blacklisted. Hopefully that will change in the future. Thanks again ;D
You’re most welcome! As I said once already I don’t really care for Mineta, so including him in stuff when it makes logical sense to isn’t much of a problem for me hah maybe, if I’m lucky, one day he’ll grow as a character and out of the walking trope he is, and that might just mean I’ll start drawing him more by himslef too haha
Anon said:i havent been involved in a fandom for 4 years but now i am and its ur fault with ur gay boys i cant handle all it, fk my life. (ps. love how u draw denki, his hair so floofy, bless u)
!!! Happy you like my take on him!!! :O also I love how you called them “your gay boys” yes, yes they are, my beautiful gay boys hahaha
Anon said:Thanks to you I'm absolutely obsessed with bakushimanari and I can't get out. It's literally???? The cutest friggin thing??? I can't believe I never thought of it before coming across your blog. But now it's my OT3 and!!! Thank you for introducing me to this sweet ship!!! I absolutely adore your art and it inspires/motivates me to make my own fluff filled fanart.
YAY OH MY GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!! more bakushimanari fans I can make happen the more I’m happy, tbh!!!! they’re soft and good and happy I wish there’d be more of them around aaahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anon said:you color nicely (`∇´)
sob thank youuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this actually means to me more than you probably thought it would haha rip bless ur soul anon
Anon said: ti adoro bye

blackbeard ate whitebeards heart to gain his ability
given the recent reveal about Caramel and the fact that BigMom gained her powers after eating her, I think we finally may have enough evidence to figure out what Blackbeard did  in that he ate whitebeards heart in fact there were multiple real life pirates who ate hearts books . google . com/books?id=t5tdBAztfhMC&pg=PA85&lpg=PA85&dq=pirates+who+ate+hearts&source=bl&ots=ND7MMJ8Bul&sig=Q-t4HJ8UxoGz8OxpNnDA6noJg_U&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjFx4vhgdrUAhXKWj4KHYnmAVwQ6AEIWDAI#v=onepage&q=heart&f=false
en . wikipedia . org/wiki/Fran%C3%A7ois_l%27Olonnais
and eichiro has shown a good deal of  and knowledge on histories of pirates and nautical myths
megashadowdragon . tumblr . com/post/129881123112/pirate-myths-and-sayings-in-real-life-and-nautical/embed
and there are myths about eating a enemys heart to gain power www . seeker . com/eating-the-enemy-a-savage-act-but-not-new-1767508224 . html
odas favorite real life pirate is blackbeard
and oda alluded to the real life blackbeard before
Whitebeard (Edward) and Blackbeard’s (Teach) names are based of a single real pirate: “Blackbeard” Edward Teach who was also called edward thatch in some documents due to variation in surname spelling  or how its believed that thatch was an alias for edward teach and blackbeard killed thatch for the yami yami no mi and when Blackbeard has absorbed Whitebeard’s DF and killed him, Blackbeard has metaphorically became the real Edward Teach.  by killing  taking dfs from two people who has names connected to RL blackbeard
“One early source claims that his surname was Drummond, but the lack of any supporting documentation makes this unlikely. Pirates habitually used fictitious surnames while engaged in piracy, so as not to tarnish the family name, and this makes it unlikely that Teach's real name will ever be known” so its possible that given the above the third person blackbeard kills to take their devil fruit for his own will be named drummond to fit the theme above
Plus the real life blackbeard received a royal pardon for piracy and became a privateer (legalized pirate) soon after that he returned to piracy which is reflected in the story by how blackbeard became a shichibukai the one pieces version of prjvateers for a short period of time and willingly abandoned that position to become a real or in laws terms ordinary pirate again
Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is the admiral  of the Blackbeard Pirates and one of the Yonko
The name Marshall derives from name Marshal which means a high official in the household of a medieval king, prince, or noble originally having charge of the cavalry but later usually in command of the military forces.
Which also connects to Edward teach or thatch the real Blackbeard who was a reported to have served as a privateer during Queen Anne’s War (1701 - 1714), and turned to piracy sometime after the war’s conclusion.
Recent genealogical research indicates his family moved to Jamaica where Edward Thatch, Jr. is listed as being a mariner in the Royal Navy aboard HMS Windsor in 1706. He may have been a sailor on privateer ships during Queen Anne’s War before settling on the Bahamian island of New Providence, a base for Captain Benjamin Hornigold, whose crew Teach joined sometime around 1716. Hornigold placed him in command of a sloop he had captured, and the two engaged in numerous acts of piracy.
and this is real life blackbeards flag
Tumblr media
the human or skeletal like figure with horns with a spear pointed at the the 3   heart could be referenced in one piece by  the stabbing  or taking ofhearts   First lets talk about the significance of hearts in One Piece and one character has shown us a lot about how it works in One Piece: Trafalgar D. Water Law Captain of the Heart Pirates, his use of the ability in Punk Hazard has shown us that a person's personality resides in their hearts in the world of One Piece.
Tumblr media
Furthermore his DF is called the "ultimate DF" and is the shape of a heart.
The reason it is called the ultimate DF is due to its ability to grant someone eternal life at the cost of its owner and since the DF is shaped as a heart, the operation may very well have something to do with a person's heart. Due to Law, the idea of a heart seems to be very important in one piece. And may end up being the key to holding more than just a person's personality. Kurouzu Extending one arm towards his opponent, Blackbeard activates the gravity power of his darkness to pull them into his grasp. Blackbeard can then attack them with his massive strength. This move is particularly useful when used in conjunction with the fruit's power-nullifying abilities, since the target could easily avoid it by fighting at a distance from Blackbeard, as Ace attempted. However, this technique has also proven to be a great weakness, as most opponents he draws near him have attacked him while at close range, such as Ace launching two fiery spears into Blackbeard's chest, or Whitebeard slamming his bisento into Blackbeard's shoulder. This was first seen being used on Ace in order to grab him.
Tumblr media
when ever he uses the technique the chest of the df user is the thing that is brought first and he grabs it
The darkness attracts the devil like a magnet and brings them towards the darkness. The devil lives inside the heart and this is attracted to the darkness and brings the whole body with it. Devils are known to live with evil and within darkness, and so it is fitting for it to be attracted to this darkness.
And due to recent revelations about BigMom gaining Caramel's powers after eating her, we know that something in a persons body contains the devil of a devil fruit. I don't believe it to be just any part of DF user's body because that would mean that just eating a strand of a person's hair, muscle, etc would be enough to gain a DF ability and that idea is full of plot holes. Due to Law, I believe that the devil of a devil fruit is stored in a person's heart. This would explain a variety of actions by the BB pirates. As in what did Blacbeard do underneath the black cover in order to gain Whitebeard's powers?
Tumblr media
In Whitebeards case, the hole in his torso is large enough for Blackbeard to simply dig in and rip his heart out

THAILAND
Thailand was a very special place for us. We were able to share our vagabond lifestyle with two of our closest friends from home, Cassidy's sister Alexa and her boyfriend Mike. The four of us all met up in Bangkok and spent a night before heading down to the southern islands. We got an early flight down to Koh Samui so we could spend as much time as possible on the beach and get their vacation started. But we had 3 of us on one reservation and Alexa was on her own. Of course everything did not go smoothly, the airline lost Alexa's reservation. So she had to stay in the Bangkok airport for an extra 8 hours waiting for the next flight. Definitely not an ideal situation at all, but Sally saved the day (thank god for moms!). The 3 of us got settled into our bungalows on the beach and Alexa arrived just in time for dinner. Then it was time for the fun to begin, as we ordered a celebratory round of large Tiger beers. We spent the first night with beers on the beach and catching up on each other's lives. Koh Samui was a great time to reunite and relax on the beach in our colorful private bungalows before we went to Koh Phangan for the crazy full moon party. The full moon party is known as the craziest beach party in Thailand. There's a full moon and a half moon party every month. We specifically planned this trip around this event because we figured if we were going to be in the area we needed to experience it. It is a true bucket list item and while it was certainly a hassle getting there, it was well worth it! To pregame the full moon party, there is a jungle party the night before. As you can imagine, the jungle party is in the middle of the jungle including street food, a Muay Thai fighting ring, crazy lights, haus music, and of course, lots of dancing. It reminded us a little of electric forest so it was a very fun night. We had booked a hostel in Haad Rin so we were right in the action for the FMP (transportation was a hassle for the jungle party). It worked out perfectly because we were only a 5 min walk from the beach party. We had heard from many people that the full moon party is way too insane and that it's super easy to lose your friends but we had a blast cruising around the beach from bar to bar looking for the best music and drink specials. To be fair, we did get separated for a while but all in all it was a success. We ended the night watching the sun rise over the ocean as we danced on the balcony of one of the beach bars. Watching the neon colors of the full moon participants combined with the soft pastels of the sunrise was a sight for the record books. After a day of recovery on the other side of the island it was time for our long journey to koh phi phi, located across the mainland of Thailand. The journey there was a combined 12 hour journey filled with multiple ferry and bus rides. This was a typical pain in the ass which Alexa and Mike had yet to experience. On our last ferry to the island we ran into Sam, one of our good friends we had been traveling with in Vietnam. We got off the boat and we're happy to see a busy but small island ahead of us without any cars. We walked the 10 minutes from the pier to our guesthouse and got settled into our home for the next 5 days. Phi phi is definitely a party island and we were excited for what was ahead of us. The next morning we hiked up to the Phi Phi Viewpoint which was a series of steep stairs and hills after which you are rewarded with spectacular views of the entire island which just over 10 years ago was destroyed by the tsunami. It's amazing to see how far the island has come. We headed to the beach to relax before the Ibiza pool party which we were planning to attend later that afternoon. Unfortunately the water in Phi Phi is pretty polluted and you have to get past a layer of trash in order to float comfortably which was unfortunate. We were soon ready for some "cleaner" water at the pool party. The party was a blast and we spent the afternoon dancing in the pool and exploring the beach during low tide. At night on the beach there are multiple bars which compete for the best party. They do this by giving away free shots for doing the limbo, giving away free buckets for winning musical chairs, and enticing passerby with insane fire dancers. It is a party paradise to say the least. The next day we did a boat tour of maya bay where "The Beach" was filmed. Although we didn't get on the pirate ship boat we saw advertised, we were able to make the best of the day watching monkeys on monkey island and snorkeling in the reefs of phi phi. Our final destination in the south was Phuket which was a good way to calm down after the craziness of Koh Phi Phi. Alexa was flying out a couple of days before mike. Unfortunately on our last day with her it was raining a lot but we were able to find a bowling alley to spend the afternoon which was a lot of fun. After her departure we moved up the island a bit to Patong Beach which is the main tourist destination in Phuket. We got to do a fast but fun cooking class and also saw the Big Buddha which is a giant statue built on a hill overlooking Phuket. Cass was able to round out her time with mike with a beautiful dinner. It was so fun to show them how we have been living for the last few months and could not have had a more entertaining time. We flew to Bangkok next to meet up with Phi's family. Phi was an exchange student at our high school and his mom and Cassidy's mom keep in good touch. Ratree picked us up from the airport and we went to the OTOP exhibition where we were able to see goods from all over Thailand. Her husband works with this organization whose goal is to empower Thai people to work and support themselves through the production and sale of textiles, food, jewelry, and hundreds of other products. After a long and fun day at the exhibition we headed to our hostel for the night where we arranged our train to the north for the next day. Before heading to the train station we met up with Jason, an expat friend of Cassidy's mom who gave us good advice for activities in the north. We also went to the Terminal 21 mall which was very interesting as every level is modeled after a different city (Tokyo, Paris, London, San Fran, etc). We arrived at the train station excited to experience a new mode of transportation. The sleeper bus was really nice and only cost us $25. We arrived in Chiang Mai the next morning and it felt like a new world. Unlike the huddle and bustle of Bangkok, Chiang Mai is a beautiful green paradise known best for elephant sanctuaries and jungle trekking. Our good friend Emmy who we grew up with in Vail had been teaching english there for the last few months and she met us out to show us around the party street where we danced to Bob Marley at the reggae bar. The next day we headed into the jungle for a half day elephant sanctuary tour. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. These elephants are privately owned and usually come from rural areas. The owners lease them to certain companies when they may be having problems with them running off or eating crops of neighbors. Riding camps, while still present, are not as popular since more tourists are realizing the damage it has on elephants. On our tour we got to feed the elephants and bathe them in mud and also swim with them in the river. There were about 6 elephants and their personalities were all very different. They are so smart and very aware of everything going on around them. It was such a special afternoon! We spent the next morning at a yoga class and walked around a few of the temples in the Old City which is surrounded by a moat. We were in bed early though as we had scheduled a two day, one night jungle trek the next day. We got in our tuk tuk and we're introduced to our guide Adam who loved singing John Denver and led groups through the jungle most days of the week. After climbing 8 miles and swimming in beautiful waterfalls we arrived at the Karen Tribe village we would be spending the night at. We were joined by a rowdy group of Spanish gentlemen who had done a different excursion that day. We spent the night eating curry, drinking rice liquor, and listening to traditional Karen songs played on the guitar around a fire. This was such an authentic experience and we had a fun group of people to share it with. It wasn't our typical night around the fire at Green Mtn Reservoir but it was a very close second. The next day we said goodbye to the Karen family that had hosted us that night and started our last 7 mile hike through rice paddies and more Karen tribes. It felt great to use our muscles again but we were excited for hot showers and delicious Mexican food which we were able to find in town. We ended our days in Chiang Mai at a pool party and got to go to the infamous ladyboy cabaret show featuring the best of Thai Drag. Of course we loved Rhianna and Lady GaGa's performance the most. Chiang Mai was a centering and full experience which we will never forget. We had some decisions to make with the time we had left. Cass had booked her ticket home for September 21st which gave us just over 3 weeks to experience Cambodia and Laos. We booked our slow boat to Laos and said goodbye to Thailand for now. Thanks to everyone who made it such a special experience!! Until next time, The Sandy-Haired Strays

Hmmm.. what do you think about the monoma x shinsou ship??
It’s… possibly a good ship? I guess? I’ve seen it around a bit, but ngl I don’t really understand it haha
Anon said: when’s your birthday?

Anon said:Because of your art (you made me fall in love with Bakugou and Kirishima and Kaminari) I started BNHA and got my best friend into it. Now I can’t stop writing them and my friend and I have several AUs already.
This is the best kind of ask omfg !!!!! Glad I could get you into my disaster trio!!! …but also are you maybe gonna share like I’m starved for bakushimanari content a n o n
Anon said:Aw man i was gonna recomend that fic by newamsterdam to you. Like i finished reading it and thought you could like it since you like that other kuroo x teru fic (thanks to you and the anon for that btw) and it seemed your style? Im kinda sad i missed the chance (ok i know this whole ask sounds stupid)
Awwww don’t be sad anon, reccing me bakushima stuff is seriously hard because I might or might not go daily in the ao3 tag to read anything complete that’s been updated and I might or might not be following all fics regularly updating unless they have a character death/angst with no happy ending warning oops - thank you for thinking about me tho!!! That made me happy haha
Anon said:I pestered my friend until he watched (and fell in love with) bnha and now I’m pestering him to look at your blog because your art is top notch and every bnha fan should look at your art imo
Thank??? You???? Holy smokes !!!

Anon said:The Uraraka and Bakugou fight!!! !!! !!! Probably my favourite fight in the tournament ahhh just the depth of character from both of them I’m ;; and the “Todoroki isn’t you” line ahhhhhhhhhhh
Haha well my fave is still the bakushima one ngl I’m weak for Bakugou actually having fun, but I feel this!! It’s a great fight and the anime did it so so well too!!!! Can’t wait for next episode tbh aahhhhhhh !!!
Anon said:With the latest chapter, I’m gonna assume Midnight ships the hard bros lmao. But honestly tho, she was me!! I love them!!! It was everything I hoped it to be, the graphics, the focus on their hands, the handshake, thE FREAKING SPARKLES!!!!

I added the smooches!!!! And I mean to go through my bakushima stuff to see what else works!! As for the bokuroteru, is there anything specific you’d like to see? Nothing seems worth it tbh haha rip
Anon said:I just bought a bag and a t-shirt and this shirt will be worn at anime expo in July and I would looooooove it if some of YOYR matsuhana S made it into your shop because I would buy all of them
THANK YOU SO MUCH OH MY G O D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anon said:M'cryin the way young Mirio looked was like a colonial American teen. Also holy shit the character development showing Tamaki’s anxiety and pessimism, and then Mirio being the super supportive friend he is and just ugh everything about this chapter was amazing
IT W AS I love it so much Amajiki’s such a good character honestly and his relationship with Mirio is!!! So good!!!! Also long haired Mirio might have been a nod to his liking rock music actually!! I love it!
Anon said:Do you ever wonder if Mirio is maybe too good and one of these days we’re gonna find out he’s actually a bad egg
…Nah. He’s not the only exceptionally good character after all, Deku, Uraraka and Kirishima are right there with him, and Toshi too! Pure characters are a Thing in bnha, which makes sense since they’re all heroes, it’s their job to be good haha
Anon said:Heeyyy so, I have this dream of owning a bookstore, and was wondering if I commissioned so e work, if you’d be ok with me displaying it in my store? Just you know… hypothetically speaking…
Well, as of now my commissions aren’t open so there’s that. But once I’ll open them then it’ll depend on what exactly you commission me to draw, I guess? I dunno! Once my commissions will be open you can contact me off anon and we can talk about it one on one~
Anon said:What do you think of platonic Tokoyami x Tsuyu dynamic? They work so well together! I think they could be good friends! Also do you ship Tokoyami and Shouji? They earned a place in my heart since the training camp!
I love!!!! TokoTsuyu!!!!! Holy heck!!!! I’ve drawn them together a couple of times, their exam together was really amazing I wish I could see more of them interacting! Also they were my first faves in bnha, so seeing them interact has always been like a treat to me haha also yes to ShoujiYami!! Drew that once as well, they’re so cute~ smallest boy x tallest boy, what a good couple !!
Anon said:Have you ever thought about Tetsutetsu x Kendou? I can’t stop thinking about it since the training camp, I love Kendou so much she’s so awesome and sweet, and Tetsutetsu is amazing and a true hero, and they have such a lovely dynamic!
MY MAIN TETSU SHIP !!!!!!! I drew them once too, I love them so so much they’d make such a good couple honestly I should draw them more
Anon said: I love your Hagakure hc you posted! She’s so lovely, I hope she learns how to make herself visible because I can’t imagine meeting people and knowing no one knows how you look like. She’s probably cool with her quirk now, after so many years, but I’m sure she must get upset sometimes…
My fave thing about Hagakure is that she sometimes acts as if she forgets no one can see her - not even in an angst way, like she complains about Mineta looking in their changing room or stuff like that, I can’t tell if she just genuinely forgets or if she’s so used to being invisible that for her is like being visible anyway???? Either way it’s gonna be fun if and when she’ll learn how to make herself visible!
Anon said:This latest chapters have me shipping Kirideku a little~~~~ haha. Man, I love their interactions, they are so supporting of each other and so work well together. Its nice seeing Deku interact with someone who doesn’t expects anything of him and who is just a friend
Nah, there’s lotsa people who don’t expect anything from him, Deku’s friends love him a lot~ but yeah his interactions with Kiri are fun, most times it’s just Kiri getting excited and being overly energetic as usual and Deku going “ye-yeah!” with his uncertain face, it’s??? fun??? Seeing the members of the bakusquad interact on friendly terms with the dekusquad is always fun for me exactly for that, Deku’s friends are all so mild compared to Baku’s, you notice the squad’s energy even more like this haha
Anon said:(Waifu2x anon) *gasp!* I’m not worthy!!
You keep me in too high regards, anon haha
Anon said:fran!! i saw your art for todays chapter and promptly died all over again. ive fallen in mirio/amajiki hell and i dont wanna get out. ive also taken to using miriama as their ship name too?? so idk what else people use but!! i just need to scream at you how beautiful your art is and i would buy things from you if you ever opened a shop
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since posting those doodles I’ve heard MiriAma MiriTama MiriMaki MiriJiki TogaAma and TogaJiki and I love??? All of them???? I don’t know which I’ll end up picking honestly I wonder what the main tag is atm haha is there even art for them? There should be t b h
