I GOT BROWNIES FROM MY COLLEAGUE-TURNED-MANAGER😭
Because I work so much and hard. Gods, bless her🥰
But now fancy me this:
Alfie gifting you food to show how much he appreciates you.
Tumblr media
TH Masterlist
He’s truly grateful for how much you work and keep going despite the hardships (managing rush hour on your own, colleagues being even worse than unhelpful, injuries due to ovens… or getting your hand stuck between the wall and a tall and heavy tower of crates… absolutely not spiteful still about that). Being a workaholic himself, he respects you for taking on as many shifts as you do and staying for as long as you can manage.
However, he can easily see past your smile and positive go-getter attitude. Alfie will coax you into sitting down whenever he notices your energy is depleting. Regardless of whether it’s busy, he’ll occasionally sit down with you because “he’s due for a break too” and he has your permission.
Now, this will annoy Ollie to no end when it’s like the whole of London has gathered at the bakery. Nevertheless, he knows his boss has a soft spot for you and why he acts the way he does. Funnily enough, though, the Mad Baker hasn’t worked through his feelings enough yet to understand himself. All he knows is that he wants you to be healthy and take a break, enjoy a cuppa and snack he’s made even when you want to sit by yourself for a bit.
Alfie’s also constantly checking on you. Not to make sure you don’t make any mistakes, but because he doesn’t want you to injure yourself (mentally and physically). He’ll stand nearby when you’re dealing with a rude customer, chipping in as soon as he sees an opening into the conversation. He’ll plop you down on a chair and nurse your wound when you cut yourself… or manage to remove a piece of your skin at the hand of a couple of crates with stock and no one helping you manoeuvre it around.
(I promise I’m not salty about my own predicament.)
But recently, he’s been giving you more food. He’ll have a proper breakfast ready when you two open the bakery together, vividly remembering how you told him you only drink a cup of coffee and eat a protein bar before you come in in the morning and heavily disagreeing with this lifestyle choice. Orange juice, a plate of chremslach and a piece of fruit always somehow manage to magically appear on the table by the window when you two are busy setting up. He’ll have the same, trying to get into the habit of eating breakfast himself by eating with you.
After each shift, he’ll have a small basket of bread, bagels, and baked goods ready for you to enjoy at home. Often there’s cinnamon babka (because he knows you’re not a big fan of chocolate), mandel bread (to have with your coffee on your days off and subsequently have a piece of him there), and your new recent favourite: tzimmes bread. All kosher, of course!
One consistent element in the wee package is a loaf of soda bread. Alfie’s told you it’s made according to an old family recipe, one not many people have had the privilege of tasting. And he’s secretly proud it’s the reason you’ve fallen in love with eating bread.
(Although he hopes it’s actually the way he guides your hands when kneading dough. So far you’ve never have made a single loaf without his warm rough palms covering the backs of your hands, his rings cold against your fingers when he entwines them with yours)
Alright, imma stop here before this is going to get out of hand. Nonetheless, I think I’ve given myself some great ideas to incorporate into the story I hope to start writing during Camp NaNo. Also, yes, I’m finally going to attempt to properly write again in July and despite working 40 hours a week. Mostly I hope to finish some WIPs, but most of all I finally want to get started on Dear Edna. Wish me luck!

Just Roll With It Recap
Riptide Episode 71 - Two Sides to a Coin
- We pick back up as the party exits the zoo. They let 17 animals out of the zoo. Gil signs Filipe’s forehead. Jay sees a strange cloud in the sky. Chip notices that Ollie is missing and realizes he went into the bear cage. He rushes to the bear cage to see a bear growling at Ollie. Ollie immediately faints. Jay gets on all fours and tames the bear while Chip rescues Ollie.
- Jay mentions the strange cloud and Filipe says that it’s not a cloud, it’s a city in the sky with the temple of the sun. They want to go there. Jay asks when they’re gonna take Ollie home, with the subtext that they should. Gil decides that Filipe is the next chosen one after he dies. Chip is upset that Filipe likes Gil more than him.
- Chip talks to Jay aside. He wants to have one more adventure with Ollie, and Jay wants him to promise that they’ll take him home after that. Jay thinks there are better, more productive things that contribute to society than being a pirate.
Jay: “He deserves a regular childhood. And it’s hard to get one of those out here. I mean, me and you, we can’t go back, but he can still have a good life. Maybe this will just be a good memory for him.”
- Ollie had un-fainted during this conversation and overheard the whole thing. When they go back to the docks, Alphonse tells them that their ship is being repaired and they’ll be here for a week. Chip convinces Ollie to go hang out with Griffon and Alphonse for a bit, promising him that he’ll be on the next adventure.
- The whole party is astounded that pirates don’t pay taxes. Chip tells Alphonse to go find Griffon and start a lemonade stand. Gil talks to the Moon High Priestess while Chip and Jay go steal lemons for the lemonade stand and Filipe confesses his sins. The Moon Priestess doesn’t want to tell Gillion her name because she wants to keep it separate from being the Priestess.
- Gil unsubtly tells her that he’s the chosen one. She believes him because she senses a divine touch in him. The High Priestess reveals that there was conflict between the two sides, but Luna Deia, the goddess of the moon, chose a champion to resolve it. Gil asks what criteria there is for the chosen one, and the High Priestess answers that we can choose whether to have faith or not, that that is a choice given to us.
- Gil is a treaty between the two sides, so the sun people won’t dislike him. The two sides have similar ideals, but draw on different energy (sea vs land, moon vs sun). Gil asks what the ideals are.
The High Priestess: “We wish to not have these four oceans separated. To not be even separated by land, but to all by under the same current. To be whoever you wish to be. And it changes like the phases of the moon.”
Gillion: “Except me, I’m the chosen one.”
The High Priestess: “Even you can change.”
- Gil tells her that Filipe is the chosen one if he dies and then leaves.
- Jay wants Chip to turn into a lemon with his disguise bandana, and the idea makes her cry. Chip makes her cry more by telling her no one will ever love her because that will help his plan. They convince a lemon seller that they’re poison control, and he has poisonous lemons that made Jay cry. He immediately believes them and they take the lemons.
- They meet up with Gil, who is ecstatic about the lemonade empire. However, Filipe reveals that 90% of the lemons are bad. They meet up with their crew. Griffon is pissed that they want him to sell lemonade.
Griffon: “I am more capable than selling lemonade. I’m supposed to fight shit.”
- He’s only doing this because he took their oath, but he wants to fight a huge monster after this. He realizes that the lemons are actually limes. Gil is so excited about this that he fills an entire tavern with lime juice through magic.
- There’s a bouncer at the tube that lets them go to the sun temple, but Chip convinces him to let them through by telling him that Gil is the chosen one. They go up the tube.
- Polo, a priest of the sun temple, greets them. He’s a surfer dude who’s filling in for his brother. Gil tells him he’s the chosen one and he believes him. Polo doesn’t want them to stay here for long if they’re pirates. If they go into the Chosen One mural room without confessing their sins, they’ll get smited by the sun goddess, Aster.
- Jay confesses. Her sins are: She bullies Chip a lot, she killed goblins in episode 26, she lied to her friends about being a Navy spy for a year, and she stole some lemons.
- Chip confesses. His sins are: He broke Lizzie’s locket on the black rose once, Whenever he breaks anything he throws it overboard and feels bad about it so he projects that onto Gil, He sometimes fiddles with Gil’s armor and takes it apart so much so that Gil’s AC is now 19 instead of 20, He pulls out Jay’s hair sometimes and she doesn’t notice, and sometimes he lays awake at night thinking about things he shouldn’t.
- Polo asks if he promises to change, but he says no because if he said yes, it would be a lie. Polo says this is the most productive confession he’s ever done. Chip wonders if what they’re doing is right, and if they’re the good guys. Chip asks that if Polo hypothetically had a small boy on his pirate ship, when would he take him home?
Polo: “In my experience, when you raise a child, you really need a village. Are you the one that’s gonna bring him up the best he can be? I think you’ll find the answer on your own, dawg.”
- He also talks about more sins off-screen.
- Gil confesses: Every day bits and pieces of his armor go missing, and he feels like a bad friend because Jay gave it to him and he’s not keeping it well kept enough.
Gillion: “Polo, I’m beating around the bush, cause I think I know why I might explode into a billion tiny Gillion pieces when I walk through that door. Sometimes I don’t want to be this Chosen One, or hero. I’m just doing it cause that’s what everyone and literally now the moon has told me to do. And it’s good, I’m helping people, but sometimes maybe I want to steal lemons with my friends. And that’s bad.”
- Gil asks Polo to tell the sun god to please not explode any of his friends and explode him instead. Also, he’s trying.
- Gil walks in the mural room and is fine. Chip pushes Jay through and she’s fine. Chip is also fine. Gil wants to commit things that he’s not sure are crimes and step across to see if they’re crimes. He gets Filipe to stab him consensually. Filipe is hesitant to go in, and when he tries to step through his foot bursts into flame. He says that the eclipse is today and leaves.
- The mural says that the land and sea need their respective goddesses or they will not survive. It also is more favorable toward life on land. The reason why there are four oceans divided by land masses is that Luna Deia wanted a world of only water while Aster wanted a world of only land. They couldn’t agree and had a battle over it. This is why the ocean is filled with magic and why the land masses split all the seas. In one of her attacks, Aster cracked the ocean into four separate seas. That’s where Allport is built. This mural suggests that Gillion is more of Aster’s champion than Luna Deia’s.
- As a child he heard more of the moon mural, though the undersea had way more focuses on leviathans and not on a moon goddess. Gil wonders if there are two chosen ones, one of the moon and one of the sun. They’d have to be born at the exact same time as him though (Edyn was not). Gil hopefully wonders if they actually understand the prophecy, but Chip points out that they might be just as confused as him.
- They call Edyn to tell her this. Chip keeps trying to sound cool and inject himself into the conversation. They get her voice mail. Gil tries to leave a message but hangs up before he says anything important. He and Chip are so embarrassed and try to contact the sun temple in Allport to delete the message. Gil is happy that Chip wants to be friends with his sister.
- When they call the sun temple, they hang up when they find out that Gil is wanted by the government. Gil asks Polo to call him if anyone else comes by saying they’re the chosen one. Then he’ll know he’s not alone. He gets Polo’s number, which makes Polo ecstatic. They take a picture with a memory pebble, which is just a fantasy camera that only works once. Polo gives them five memory pebbles.
- They climb to the top of the temple to watch the eclipse. As the moon touches the sun,  cracks/portals open in the sky. Gil immediately jumps into one, and Jay, Chip, and Filipe go in after him. They arrive in a magical forest. They have changes: Filipe has pixie wings, Jay has cat whiskers, Gil has a glittering mist swirling around him, and Chip has iridescent colors swirling in his eyes.

"Have A Great Holiday!"
Monday 14th September 2020
Good afternoon everyone! As promised, this is the first of two blog posts today. This will be following last night's episode. Friday's episode ended with Kheerat basically hinting to Chantelle that he has feelings for her, by giving her that lucky poker chip! I still think that that poker chip is going to become very important, i'm unsure why or how. But something tells me it'll be a big significance with Chantelle's death. I could be completely wrong and jumping to conclusions, but we shall see! Before we jump into last night's episode, some spoiler pictures have been released today of the aftermath of Chantelle's death, as you can see by the picture below, Karen is grief-stricken as flowers and tributes are laid out in front of the Atkins household after the Square learn the news of Chantelle's passing. Kheerat believes that Gray has something to do with Chantelle's death and decides to confide in Mitch about what he knows and reveals that he and Chantelle had gotten close during her last few days. These next few episodes are going to be really hard to watch but I'm really intrigued to see how Chantelle's death will be portrayed and of course the aftermath is always the most interesting part!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, lets jump right into last night's episode - Max appears to have had some post delivered and he seems happy about it, have the divorce papers from Rainie finally come through? Viewers will know that Max sold his half of the restaurant business over to Ian, to stop Rainie on getting her hands on any of his money, however Max is unaware that Ian used his share of the money to buy Sharon the Vic! I know it sounds awful to say, but I am really looking forward to Ian getting his comeuppance. He's been acting the hero for too long now and people are going to realise his secrets and uncover what he's been hiding the last few months, is Max going to be the first one to be suspicious when he learns the truth?
In the Square, Martin seems to be the thought on everyone's mind. Sharon approaches Ian and asks on whether there's been any news, Ian acts very coldly towards her and just gives her a simple one worded answers - "No!" She can clearly see that he's acting very differently towards her now after she revealed she didn't have feelings for him. She can sense the awkwardness between them so leaves the conversation sharpish, Ian watches as she walks away! Can I just say what Peter said next really shocked me - "The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else!" Is he implying that his Dad should sleep with someone else just to take his mind off Sharon?! I apologise if that is not what he meant, but it sure did sound like it to me!!
At the Atkins household, Chantelle is upstairs quickly trying to pack her suitcase, it looks as if she has packed everything she needs to get away! From the outside, she can hear voices approaching the house - she looks out and calls to Gray that she will run and grab the front door, unfortunately Gray gets there before her and he welcomes Mitch and Karen into the house. I'm sure he's unaware of their holiday plans and of course he'll have no idea that Chantelle is going with them, are they going to put their foot in it and not realise that Gray has no idea? Is Gray then going to get angry at Chantelle for not telling him their plans?
At Ruby's club, Ben and Callum are talking about what they're potentially going to do, Callum is still unsure whether to go ahead with setting up Danny. Suddenly, Stuart interrupts their conversation, all smiles - can I just say how nice it is to see Stuart, finally! I know when he first came into the soap he was a bit of a dark character, but now, its lovely to see him so smiley and happy with Rainie, it's like his character has done a complete U-turn! He is so happy to finally learn that Max's and Rainie's divorce has come through, which can only mean he can finally marry Rainie! I just love the fact he starts dropping hints to Callum about what he wants for his Stag night - Something is telling me he wants to be tied to a lamppost in his pants! Of course this is something which has completely been wiped from Callum's mind, Ben actually decides to change their conversation and asks him whether he does have anything planned for Stuart's Stag night! But Callum ignores the question and gets back to the matter in hand, if Ben has any plans or ideas of setting up Danny, then Callum wants to be made aware of it, unfortunately Ben tells him that he wont tell him - mainly because he doesn't want Callum to have to lie to his boss, so in a way he's kinda being cruel to be kind. He doesn't Callum getting in any kind of trouble because of his actions, but Callum does make sure that Ben promises him to speak to his Dad if he decides to make any stupid decisions, at first, I think Ben is hesitate, but he nods his head and makes the promise, however is this going to be another promise he breaks?!
Back at Chantelle's and Gray's house, Karen and Mitch are making themselves comfortable, Bernie is also there in two as everyone is getting ready for their holiday. Gray unaware of their plans, softly says to Chantelle "What were you going to do? Send me a postcard?!" But with all of the family members there, he knows he can't do anything else, he can't do anything to Chantelle while her family is around. She speaks softly in response to him "It'll do Keegan good after everything he's been through, plus you can concentrate on Whitney's trial!", he still doesn't look happy about the situation, but to put on a front for the family he smiles and agrees and leaves the room, leaving Chantelle to be with her parents as she smiles, is she thinking that she'll finally be able to get away? One thing I have noticed about Chantelle - which I can't believe I haven't noticed before, she always wears long sleeved blouses - clearly to hide any bruises or marks she may have from Gray's abuse, I never really realised it until now.
At the Vic, Kathy is very apologetic towards Sharon. After Ian confessed his feelings for Sharon, Kathy blamed her for leading him on, but now she's realised that that wasn't the case and she apologise to the fellow blonde. Sharon understands and explains there's nothing for her to be sorry for. It's then that Ian makes his way into the pub and Peter pipes up giving him the news that he's set him up on dating app! Understandably, Ian is horrified! Both Sharon and Kathy decide to have a look and they all agree it would be good for him to focus on something else and persuade him to give it a go! But Ian is adamant he wants nothing to do with it - but something is telling me that, with Jane not around any more and Sharon not feeling the same way about him, I think he'll reconsider. I mean what else has he got to lose? He might as well give it a go and see if he can meet anyone!
Ruby is then seen waiting in the hospital to news of Martin. Vinny suddenly appears and begs to Ruby to tell him that Martin is okay, she instantly tells him leave! She is so angry with him and tells him that she didn't want to go through with it in the first place, she informs him that she tried calling him to call their plans off! Vinny begs to her not to say anything to police, Ruby realises that if she would - Vinny would go down for robbery! Vinny makes the big statement - "If I go down, you go down with me!" I'm sure it's something that Ruby wont even contemplate, of course it's important that Martin gets better. It's unknown whether he actually realised it was Vinny that he was chasing. Ruby states that Martin is all she has right now and he's the most important thing to her. I'm really curious to find out when Stacey will be back - will she learn of Martin's attack and make her way back to the Square? Or will Stacey's return be for some other reason?! Either way - she is not going to be happy when she learns that Martin and Ruby have become an item!
Ahhh so we've learned a little bit more about Frankie, after Tina slightly offends her, Tina tries to apologise to her. She asks whether she can have a look at Frankie's photography, we see pictures of a young boy, funnily enough around Ollie's age. Frankie reveals to Tina that the little boy was in fact her younger brother who has sadly passed away. She claims even everyone is trying to help her and cure her hearing, she says that he was the one who was actually sick and needed curing. Is this something that has affected Frankie her whole life? Not being able to cope with the passing of her brother, so does she start to get close to the Carter family and Ollie? Is Ollie maybe going to replace the brother she lost? I'm hoping Frankie becomes a regular part of the soap and we'll be able to discover more of her story/background. I think it's clear there's going to be some form of romance between her and Tina though, that I am looking forward to seeing! It's about time Tina fell in love and found a proper love interest.
Back at the Atkins family home, Gray is seen in the bedroom, lurking over the suitcase on the bed that Chantelle has packed. Nothing can be heard other than the voices from the family downstairs. He takes it upon himself to start unzip the suitcase, although as he's about to open it fully, footsteps approach and he quickly zips it back up. Chantelle makes her way into the bedroom, and discreetly hides from Gray the make-up bag with money in that she hid in the toilet, and she quickly stuffs it into the suitcase. Gray is clearly suspicious and claims that she managed to pack her stuff fairly quickly, Chantelle once again tries to lure him off the scent and claims that she literally just stuffed everything inside it as quick as she could. She explains that they have a long train journey ahead so she'll go out and grab some food for herself and the children. As she leaves with the suitcase, Gray heads to the bathroom - at this moment, I was kinda worried thinking he might find something that Chantelle may have missed. He looks all over the shelves and cupboards and then notices the top of toilet is wonky, he picks it up to reveal - nothing! He sighs in frustration! Luckily we know Chantelle grabbed it in time before he could click on to her plans to escape.
The next scene shows Tina joining her family in the Vic, Mick, Linda and Ollie are all sat together. Tina has dolled herself up, wearing a lovely black dress. Frankie follows behind her and Tina introduces her to her family. However, when Frankie is introduced to Ollie, he turns and gives Frankie a smile. She mouths the word "Hello" to the young boy and smiles. But as she turns away its obvious that something is playing on her mind. I personally think that Ollie does look very similar to her younger brother? Don't you guys think? I truly believe that somehow Frankie believes that Ollie might be her real brother, or something along those lines? Later Frankie is sat with Ollie as Linda and Tina watch from a distance, everyone commenting how Frankie is good with children and how Ollie has happily decided to sit with her. Frankie looks as if she is besotted with Ollie, she tells him how similar he looks to her younger brother, Harry. I am so certain something is going to happen between Frankie and the Carter family!
Meanwhile, Ben decides to take his boyfriend's advice and decides to speak to his Dad about the possibility of setting Danny up. He reveals to his Dad that the warehouse they went to did actually have CCTV. Phil is of course wary of them being found out but he makes it clear that if the Police had anything on the, they would've come for them by now. Ben is desperate to her his Dad onside, i don't think Ben can take the fact that Danny almost left him completely deaf. Phil wants nothing to do with it, and warns Ben to let it go and forget about it, but clearly its something he just can't do. He goes into his Dad's phone and decides to take Danny's phone number. What is Ben planning on doing? Is he going to get himself in more trouble and potentially put his life and Callum's life in danger once again?!
Back at the Vic, Max finally catches up with Ian, gives him the news that his divorce has finally comes through. It seems Max is really thankful towards Ian, he thanks him for keeping hold of the money so Rainie can't get her hands on it, he claims he's even willing to let Ian keep a couple of grand to himself in a way of saying "Thank You!" - Ian is clearly taken aback by his offer and says to Max that he really doesn't have to do that for him! It's only then Max the comment that he's happy to take the money back from him, seeing as he no longer needs to look after it, plus he also makes a little joke "Don't want you getting tempted to spend it, do we?" - Oooooo as a viewer, I am kinda looking forward to seeing it when Max finds out about his Ian spending his money on the Vic, how is Ian going to worm his way out of this one? Is he going to try and get money as quick as he can, or another possibility - is Sharon going to find out where Ian got the money from, if you think about it, technically the Vic belongs to Max! If it was Max's money used to buy it, Max should be standing behind the bar, not Sharon! It's an interesting thought but it's technically true and it could be a big turn in events if Max ended up living in the pub!
Awwwwww the next scene was such a heartbreaking one!!!! Kheerat is in his office and Chantelle pays him a visit. He stops his work as she makes her way in. She's shaky and her voice is raspy. She asks if Kheerat meant what he said to her the previous day. He promises her he meant every word. She playing with the poker chip with her fingers, twiddling it in hands. She says to him as much as she wants to cash in and be with him, she can't - not at this moment in time. She's going away with her family and she wont be coming back, but she does hope that one day soon there will be a chance for her to cash in with him! Kheerat is clearly disappointed, but he understands that she has to do what she has to do. He tells her to keep it, and whenever the time feels right for her, he'll be waiting. They're definitely an unspoken affection and love between the two souls, as Chantelle leaves the room, she turns and says to him"All I want to do is kiss you!" ... it is quite heartbreaking. Tears fill her eyes as she leaves the room. We know that the chance for them to be together will never happen! I feel Chantelle's death is really going to affect Kheerat, he'll be heartbroken but he'll also make sure he does everything in his power to find the truth and the reason why she dies.
Unbeknown to Chantelle, back at their house, Gray is ransacking their bedroom, trying to find some sort of clue that Chantelle is keeping something from him. Does he know that she's planning on leaving him? He goes through her draws and wardrobes and everything. He then decides to look at his phone and uses the tracking app to see where she is. He throws the phone in a rage, he then discovers a type of child memory box from under the bed. It's only then as he looks through it that his daughter Mia tells her Father that they're planning on leaving for the holiday. He asks her when her Mummy told her about the holiday, the little girl reveals that it was least week she planned on taking them on a big adventure, but they didn't go. Only then Gray realises that it's been a whole week that Chantelle has been planning on leaving.
Back in the Square, the Carter family are enjoying time together after lock-down, Mick, Linda and Tina are all enjoying quality time together. Entertaining Ollie playing a little bit of football, but from a distance, it's revealed that Frankie is taking photographs of the family, especially more of little Ollie. What is her connection with the Carter's? Why is she so fixated on Ollie? I'm really looking forward to seeing more of her story unfold!
The last scene of the episode, Chantelle is making her way through the Square, she's on the phone to someone confirming her arrival of herself and her two children to a refuge. For a moment she's looking relaxed and happy and more positive than she has done for long time. When she gets to the house, her family are waiting for her and ready to make a move! The only people missing are her children, Mac and Mia! She looks up to house to see them standing at their windows, waving at her with sad solemn little faces. She calls for them to come with her, but Gray insists that they wanted to stay home, he plays the role of a perfect Daddy! Saying he'll give the movie nights, mid-night snacks and build dens with his children. Chantelle's plan has fallen through again, Gray stopping her and catching her out as she continues to make plans to escape. She looks helplessly and longingly for her children as the rest of the family make their way to the train station and Gray makes his way back inside the house. Chantelle is defeated again!
I don't know about you lot but it's so devastating seeing Chantelle look so damaged and lost and almost broken by what Gray is doing. It's going to make her death so much more harder to watch. Jessica Plummer and Toby-Alexander Smith have done such brilliant performances the past few episodes. It's going to he heart wrenching come the end of the week. Thank you all so much for reading. I apologise the post is late! I'll be back in a few hours time following tonight's episode! Thanks folks! xXx

Missing Her - Part 2
Dean x Reader; Reader x Jim (OMC); Reader x Ollie (OFC)
Part 1
Tumblr media
A/N: This was intended to be a sequel (and end) to the first part, Missing Her, however, the idea has taken on a life of its own and well, this is now just Part 2 of I have no idea how many parts. "Unbreak My Heart” by Toni Braxton, suggested by @ravenangel33 inspired this part. The song I have one planned for the last chapter, you may all hate me for. I already hate myself for it, tbh. Oh well... here we go.
Summary: Dean is back from his time in Hell, and wants to see Y/N and meet Ollie before he continues with the mission to stop Lillith from breaking the 66 Seals.
Warnings: Language, Canon Divergence,

The coffee pot had beeped more than a few times, but you didn’t hear it. Your mind was a million miles away thanks to the phone call you’d gotten the night before. No sleep had come after that and really, how could it? Learning that Dean was alive and wanted to see you were really all you could think about.
“Mommy,” Ollie said softly from beside you, her small hand pulling on your sleeve. “Are you alright? Your coffee is done.”
The spell was broken, and you looked down at her. “Hmm? What was that?”
She pointed at the coffee pot. “It’s done.”
“Oh, thanks.” You gave her a lacking, half smile and poured a cup.
“Are you ok momma?” she asked, pulling herself up onto one of the counter stools and reaching for the pack of chocolate chip muffins next to her.
You smiled again, trying to make it more genuine this time, and reached for the bananas. “Yeah, I’m fine baby. Here, have this with that, please.”
Ollie rolled her eyes, as most eight-year-olds do, and took it reluctantly. “Why? They’re so gross and mushy. Can’t I just have the muffin? I promise to eat the apple in my lunch today.”
You gave her a knowing look, which she ignored and concentrated on her muffin.
“You and I both know you will trade that apple for whatever sugary treat your bestie brings in today.”
“She likes to share!” she pleaded, her little green eyes ablaze with mercy.
“I’m sure she does, but I like you eating at least one piece of fruit a day. So, it’s the muffin and banana, or the apple at lunch.”
“Fine,” she relented and peeled the banana. Ollie took a bite and glared at you while doing so, which just reminded you how much she looked, and acted, like Dean. “Having a mom who is a nurse, sucks like crap through a straw.”
“Olivia Kate! What have we talked about?”
“Language.”
“And?”
“Sarcasm…”
“And?”
She rolled her eyes and sighed. “Use both in moderation.”
You shook your head and had to resist the urge to say something like ‘you are more and more like your father every day’. The truth was, Ollie was so much like her dad, it sometimes sent you for a loop. She not only bore his physical features, but his mannerisms and facial expressions. Olivia had never spent a moment in his presence, yet she was his ‘mini-me’ in so many ways.
“So, after school today, what’s the plan?” she asked, already putting the admonishing behind her.
“What’s the plan?” you asked, nearly choking on your coffee. “Plan for what?”
“After school, mom. Is Daddy picking me up today, or are you?”
“Oh, uh, I’m not sure. Is it my day?”
Ollie shrugged. “I dunno. I’m the kid here, shouldn’t you remember?”
“Fair enough. And yes, I should remember, I’m sorry. It was a little bit of a rough night.”
Ollie’s face turned serious and she gazed at you curiously, her head ever so slightly tilted to the side, her petite but pouty lips pointed in a frown. “What happened? Did Aunt El call with someone who was hurt again?”
“No, baby, everyone’s fine. But I did get a call from an old friend, and it just sorta surprised me.”
You leaned your elbows down on the counter near where she was eating her breakfast and thought about how you should proceed. Not bringing up Dean before had been a conscious choice because how you left things, and then after that, he had asked you not too. But now, things were different. He was alive, and he wanted to see you.
“Which friend?”
“No one you know,” you said and finished with “yet” in your head.
“Oh. Anyways, after school?”
“I’ll get you. But I do need to talk to daddy, so maybe I’ll pick you up and bring you there for a while? You can play with Max and Cody while he and I talk about a few things.”
“Are you gonna fight again?”
“No, baby. We won’t.”
“Alright. Cause its scares, Max and Cody, then they get crazy.”
You gave her that knowing look again. “It’s the dogs that don’t like it? Or you?”
She shrugged and concentrated on her half-eaten banana. “Maybe both.”
“Promise kiddo, no fighting.” You kissed her on the top of her head and moved about the kitchen readying her lunch and yours for the day.
After school, you picked her up curbside and headed to Jim’s house. Luckily, he had answered your call earlier that day and had free time that afternoon to talk. When you got to his house, he answered the door, right along with his two golden retrievers, Max and Cody, who immediately began swarming around Ollie and licking her face.
“Easy guys,” Jim warned in a deep, commanding voice, to which they immediately obeyed. They sat and patiently waited for Ollie to remove her coat and greet them properly.
“Thanks for this,” you said, removing your own coat and hanging it up.
“Sure thing,” he said and turned to Ollie. “Hey kiddo, I got snacks and the tv going in the playroom. Can you head in there so—”
“Yeah, I know… grownup time. Come on guys,” she patted her leg and the dogs followed obediently.
“She’s good with them,” you mused, watching her walk away.
Jim cleared his throat and crossed his arms over his chest. It was his way of putting up a wall where you were concerned.
“So, what do you need to talk about?” he asked curtly.
“Do you remember a few months back, when I asked you to take her because I had to go out of town?”
He nodded slowly, still clearly a sore spot for him. Jim hadn’t exactly been happy about it, and not because he didn’t love being with Ollie, but because he knew it had something to do with Dean.
“Well, I know that you know, why I went. I went to meet up with Dean.”
“I figured,” he growled.
“It’s a long story and one I don’t think you care to hear, but he called again last night.”
“Why the fuck are you telling me this, Y/N? You know how I feel about this guy…”
“I know. But, he’s her father.”
“I’M her father,” he barked and angrily stuck his finger into his own chest, the veins in his neck popping with anger. “I’M the one that took care of her for the last five years! Not this ass—”
“Hey! Just stop. I promised her we wouldn’t fight!”
He glared at you and shook his head in disgust. “So, what? You want my blessing to take her to meet him?”
“Yes and no… I don’t know. I don’t even know if I should. But, you are also her father. So, I guess I wanted to include you in this. Forgive me for being so stupid to believe that you could just think about what’s best for her, and not be angry with me.”
“Best for her? This… Dean guy,” Jim spat the name from his mouth as if it were poison, “he’s what’s best for her? I assume he knows about her now, right? That’s why you went to meet with him last Spring, am I right?”
“Yes.”
“But he didn’t want to meet her then, right? He bailed, again, right?”
“It's not that simple, you don’t know the whole story,” you said quietly and peered down the hallway to see if Ollie was listening. “It's complicated, from beginning to end, so very complicated.” You sighed and ran a hand through your hair, regretting even including him in the conversation.
“Oh, even better. Bring an eight-year-old little girl to meet some sperm donor you knew from almost ten years ago and wreck her world by telling her this scum bag is her biological father.”
“You better watch your fucking mouth, Jim,” you growled lowly at him, suddenly very angry and defensive of your feelings about Dean. “He wasn’t some sperm donor. I loved him. I still do. He thought he was going to die, that’s why I told him about her, but he got better and he’s ok. So, yeah, I am going to tell her about him, but I wanted to give you the courtesy of a head’s up first. Something I am beginning to seriously regret.”
He laughed in disbelief and crossed his arms over his chest. “Clearly you’ve already made up your mind. But, if it backfires, and it will… it may be time to revisit our custody arrangement. Legally I am that girl’s father and I will do what I have to in order to protect her.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“Oh, honey. I would. I won’t stop you from bringing Ollie to meet him, but if she’s hurt by this in any way, you will have me and the court system to deal with.”
The drive home from Jim’s was quiet. Ollie wanted to spend the night since she was supposed to be going to his house the next morning anyway. Halfway between Jim’s and home, you pulled over to the side of the road and grabbed the burner cell from your purse. You found the number that called from the night before and waited for him to answer.
“Hello?” Dean’s voice came through. “Y/N?”
You cleared your throat. “Yeah, it's me. I’ve been thinking about last night, and, uh… let’s meet, ok? Where are you?”
“Not that far from you, where do you want to meet up?”
“My house. I’ll text you the address.”
“You sure? What about—”
“She’s with Jim… my ex. It's his weekend to have her.”
Dean was silent for what felt like forever but was maybe on 30 seconds. You could hear him exhale and just imagine his fists clenching opening and closed trying to quell his frustration. “Alright. Send me the address. Be there as soon as I can.”
True to his word, Dean arrived within a couple hours and without Sam. You heard the rumble of the Impala’s motor the minute he entered the neighborhood, which gave you a few minutes to compose yourself. Stopping at the hallway mirror, you fixed a few strands of hair that fell out of place and smoothed the lines of your shirt. His car stopped in front of the house, the creak of the doors acting as the final announcement of his arrival.
You opened the front door before he could knock. The sight of him approaching down the narrow walkway made your heart start pounding in your chest. Dean looked up and saw you standing there, hesitating for only a second. It made you think of how he looked when he saw you at the hotel months earlier. There was no anger, now. This time, he was smiling nervously.
He was in the doorway, his eyes scanning you slowly from head to toe before he could say anything. Finally, he reached out for your hand and meet your gaze. “Hey.”
“Hey,” you replied sheepishly, allowing him to mingle his fingers with yours. The spark... that damn spark was still there and you both felt it the instant your fingers touched. “I’m so glad you’re alright.”
You threw your arms up around his neck, holding him tightly and burying your head into his neck. Dean hugged you back, lifting you off your feet in a fierce embrace. He exhaled unsteadily, finally returning your feet to the ground. He didn’t say anything else. For a moment he just studied your face and gently caressed the side of your cheek with his thumb. His tongue darted across his bottom lip, and in his eyes was a sea of unspoken feelings you could so easily drown in.
“Come on, come inside,” you said and closed the door behind him. “Can I get you something… coffee? Water? Um… I think there’s some apple juice---”
“A beer, maybe. If you have one. If not, I know you have a stash of whiskey somewhere. You wouldn’t be you if you didn’t.”
You turned and gave him a playfully exasperated look. “I don’t know what you're talking about Dean Winchester. I would never…”
“Uh huh. I seem to remember a two-hundred-mile trip to get tacos where you just happened to have a fifth of Jack hidden in your bag. Oh, and there was that one time we were at your apartment, I had come over after a fight with dad and you just happened to have two bottles in the back of the closet.”
“Your point?”
“I know you got something somewhere in here,” he teased, the crinkles around his eyes becoming more pronounced with his growing smile.
You rolled your eyes and grabbed out two glass tumblers from the cabinet before going into the back of your pantry and retrieving your bottle of Gentleman Jack.
“Aaaand there it is,” he said, happily taking the bottle from you and pouring the liquor into both glasses.
You raised yours up in salute. “To you, and the whole being alive again thing.”
“Yeah,” he scoffed and threw back the booze. “Happy days.”
“So, you wanna fill me in? Last I saw or head from you… you left me a note saying goodbye. I get a text from Sam a month later saying you're gone. Now… you’re not. I hope details of your resurrection are forthcoming.”
Dean pulled out one of the counter stools, unknowingly the same one his daughter sat in that morning. He saw the same pack of muffins on the counter and seemed to consider taking one before pushing them away.
“Werewolves, vampires, ghouls, ghosts, shapeshifters… all real. You know that. You experienced it, yourself. Hell, even demons… all real. But never in my life did I believe that angels existed.”
“I swear if this is some cheesy pickup line to avoid the conversation, Dean—”
“No,” he laughed and poured another whiskey. “I wish it were, but no, that’s not it.”
“Then, what?”
“Angels are real, too. I was dead… in Hell, Y/N. And then, I wasn’t. I was in a box buried in the ground where Sam put me. Dug my way out of the dirty, and found Bobby, then Sam.”
“How long? I mean, how long were you—”
“In Hell? Forty years...” he trailed off, his eyes fixed on nothing ahead of him as he absently brought the glass to his lips.
“Forty—what? That makes no sense.”
“Four months up here, forty years in Hell. The details… I can’t… but then God thought I was worth saving. One of his angels, Castiel, pulled me up and put me back into my meat suit,” he downed the whiskey before shrugging off his coat and pulling up his sleeve to reveal a raised scar in the shape of a handprint.
“Jesus…” you muttered and lightly touched it.
“I don’t know about him… but Angels, God… they exist.”
You glared at him and rolled your eyes, then looked back at the scar. “I don’t know what to say… why? I mean, I am grateful they saved you, but why? If you made the deal Sam said you did…” you trailed off, still trying to take it all in.
“Because they need me. There’s something brewing and, they—the angels—want me and Sam to stop it.”
“What? Dean… what’s brewing?!”
“I didn’t come here to worry you, or anything like that—”
“Then tell me. Or I’ll just call Ellen and find out.”
“Ellen doesn’t know. She may not even know I’m back,” Dean said with a tinge of regret as he slid off the stool. He stood in front of you and took your hands into his. “I just wanted to see you again. Talk to you about maybe seeing Ollie. I don’t want to disrupt her life, you don’t even have to tell her who I am. I just… Y/N I need to see her.”
“Why?” you asked, unable to hide the tremor of fear that was present in your voice. “Why now? Are you afraid you’re going to die again? Because I can’t go through that again… I know we hadn’t seen each other in years, but, after the motel and being with you again—”
The thought of having to feel the loss of Dean again was enough to trigger a swell of panic and despair you never wanted to know again. “I don’t want to lose you again.”
“Y/N, I can’t promise you anything. I don’t know what is going to happen. I just know that I will fight like Hell to get this done and get back to you. Most importantly though, I can’t continue this mission unless I know you’re both safe. That none of this will come back to touch your lives.”
You felt your knees go weak and rested on the counter for support. John Winchester’s words floated through your mind, as did Jim’s warning, and your need for another whiskey was steadily rising. Sensing your thoughts, Dean poured more in your glass and slid it to you, raising his eyebrows with understanding as you threw it back, immediately pouring another.
“We’re quite the functional family, huh?”
You snorted a laugh and felt the slight burn of the brown liquor touch the inside of your nose. “I hate you…” you chortled in return, making him smile. It may have only lasted a moment, but any time that Dean would smile, it lifted you up as well.
When his expression turned serious, you knew that he feared dying again, but there was something else, too. “Dean, what aren’t you telling me?”
He hesitated, but when his eyes met yours, you thought maybe he felt comfortable enough to confide in you again. “It’s Sam. Everything going on… he’s in trouble. I don’t know how to help him other than to fight and try to stop the seals from breaking, stop what the demons are doing...”
“Seals?” you asked, but the lump in your throat prevented there to be much volume behind it.
Dean nodded slightly. “Old school testament shit. Like I said, angels, demons… God. It’s all real, or so they tell me. This war is Biblical, and if we can’t stop it, if the bad guys win, its not going to be good for anyone. I can’t lose Sam in this. Or you, or her. Before this goes any further, before we take on any more of these seals, I just needed to see you.”
“To meet Ollie,” you mused, more to yourself than to Dean.
“Yeah,” he said, lightly taking your chin in his fingers and turning it back to him. “And to see you. I wanted to come as soon as I was topside again, I hated leaving you like I did. It's just, everything happened so fast. Trying to catch up on four months of time. Then there was Sam… the demons… it was chaos.”
You felt your skin go cold at the idea of demons. You heard some hunters talk about them over the years since spending time at Harvelle’s, but to know they were getting closer, more of them were walking around, made everything inside you quake with fear.
“I’m scared, Dean. I don’t like the sound of this, at all.”
He pulled you into his arms and kissed the top of your head before resting his chin there. “I won’t let anything hurt you or Ollie, Y/N. I promise you that.”
You stood that way, just holding onto each other for a while. With your head against his chest, the sound of his heart beating comforted you. If Dean was alive again, things would be alright. Years may have passed since you really spent time with him, but your reunion at the hotel months before, and the time you had now, just reaffirmed what you always knew… he was the love of your life, the father of your child, and you would do whatever you had to, to help him.
“Dean,” you said softly, without lifting your head from his chest, “will you stay tonight? Stay here with me? Tomorrow, I’ll go get Ollie so you can meet her. But for tonight…”
“I’m all yours,” he said and pulled back slightly from the embrace; just enough to bend down and kiss you softly. “And not just for tonight, either.”
The next day dawned to a rainy, overcast morning. Waking in your bed, you rolled over to see if everything the night before had been a dream. Spending hours, tangled in the sheets with Dean, slowly getting reacquainted with each other, unlike the rush and desperate need you had months before. When you found the bed empty, it was a treacherous case of Déjà vu of when you woke in the motel and he was already gone. Had he bailed again?
Fear shot through you as you lept out of the bed and grabbed your robe before haphazardly throwing it on and sprinting downstairs. Halfway there, the smell of crisping bacon and the sound of eggs sizzling instantly calmed you.
Entering the kitchen, you saw Dean standing at the stove and moving the eggs around the pan, so they didn’t stick. He was in his black T-shirt and jeans, his hair still soft and puffy from sleep. He had a tune playing in his mind that he was absently bopping his head too, little hints of mimicked guitar riffs coming from his lips of some Zeppelin song.
You were able to watch him for a minute or two before he sensed your presence. He moved around your kitchen like he had lived there for years and it felt like you were getting a glimpse of what life could have been if you didn’t send him away when you did.
Though he’d forgiven you, guilt still lived in your heart where that decision was concerned, and you were determined to find a way to make it up to him.
“Morning,” you said, finally entering the room. “Since when did you become so domestic?”
“Oh, this… nah… this is just breakfast. Eggs, bacon, toast, coffee—the basics.”
“It smells great,” you said dreamily, inhaling the aroma of the coffee on the counter. “I feel spoiled.”
Dean put the spatula down and killed the heat on the eggs. He approached you, backing you into the corner where the two lengths of counter space came together. Dean put a hand down on the counters on either side of you and leaned in close. “You should be spoiled. Now that the past is in the past, and once this other business is done, I plan on doing just that.”
“Tell me again…” you whispered, recalling the night before and what he had said to you as you drifted off to sleep.
“I love you and I’m not gonna leave again,” he rasped before his tongue ran nervously across his lips.
Even with the weight of what he told you the day before, and the nerves around him meeting Ollie, you felt overwhelmed with love at that moment. You took his face in your hands and kissed him. His hands found their way under your robe and grabbed your hips, pulling you in and resting on the small of your back. He withdrew one hand and wrapped it around the back of your neck, elongating your kiss the kiss into something that could easily put breakfast on hold and make you go back upstairs.
Just as his lips parted, and the silky touch of his tongue mingled with yours, you heard the faint sound of car doors slamming from outside. Dean heard it too and swiftly pulled away from you, while you tightened the bathrobe’s belt. The muffled conversation was approaching the house and you realized then, that it was Jim and Ollie.
You looked at Dean, slightly panicked. Yes, he was going to meet her, but you hadn’t even called Jim yet to see if you could pick her up early. Again, sensing your thoughts, Dean gave you a knowing look and ducked into the TV room that lived off the kitchen, flushing himself against the wall so he wouldn’t be the first thing they saw when entering the house.
Jim’s key was in the lock just as you dumped the whiskey tumblers from the night before into the sink, trying to hide the evidence that you weren’t alone.
The front door opened, and you tried to look like you had just made breakfast, then realized how much food Dean had already made.
“Mommy?!” Ollie called out from the entryway, most likely kicking off her shoes and tossing them near the door like she always did. “Are you up?”
“In here, Ollie,” you called, hoping that the nerves in your tone weren’t noticeable to her or Jim.
Ollie’s small form bounced into the kitchen, her ponytail swinging behind her. “I forgot some stuff, so daddy brought me here to get it. He said you wouldn’t be home though,” she added with a frown. “Whoa, breakfast! Can I have some? Oh, and is that a new car outside?”
It hadn’t dawned on you until then that Dean’s car was out front, and it wasn’t exactly a car that easily blended into your neighborhood.
“That’s quite the showstopper,” Jim’s voice echoed from the hallway before rounding into the kitchen. “Haven’t seen a ’67 Impala in years. Looks mint, too.” He was keeping his tone jovial for Ollie’s sake, but resentment burned into you from his eyes because he knew exactly who the car belonged to. “Belong to someone you know?”
You could sense Dean’s frustration radiating from behind the wall of the living room. You imagined that he was desperate to walk in here and start balking at Jim for any number of things; especially now that Dean was more informed about your past with him. The night before, you had spent a good amount of time going over the years you missed together, which included a full accounting of your relationship with Ollie’s stepfather. Dean was not Jim’s biggest fan. Or vice versa.
“It belongs to a friend of mine. He’s in town for a visit and he stayed here last night,” you said to them both, but the direction of your glare went straight to Jim.
“Your friend who called the other night?” she asked before grabbing two pieces of bacon from the plate.
“Mhm, yeah. Would you like to meet him?” you asked her directly but passed a warning glance to Jim from the corner of your eye.
“Sure,” she shrugged and quickly gobbled both pieces.
“Well, uh, we don’t have time for that right now, sweetie,” Jim interjected. “We just stopped in to get your books, remember? Gotta get moving if you want to get to the library before—”
“Oh, I imagine there’s a little time to say hello,” Dean said with a smug grin as he rounded the corner from the living room, sinking daggers into Jim. But the moment his eyes found Olivia, it faded into a sweet, gentle smile.
You watched his expression as he took her in, examining everything from the strands of hair on her head to the socks she wore that had little pizzas on them. He briefly looked back at you, and what you saw in his eyes was everything you had hoped for. The moment he laid eyes on his daughter, Dean Winchester fell head over heels in love.

WRITING IDEA - DOUBLE DATE (first chapter)
A double date. An unexpected attraction. A pull too strong to ignore. Also a first chapter that will probably never get a proper continuation…
“””””””””” CHAPTER “”””””””””
Josh's body was leaning nonchalantly against the wall, his arms tightly crossed over his chest. He was frowning too, giving the impression that he'd rather be anywhere but here right now. Which was not just an impression but the actual truth. His girlfriend, Alice, had dragged him to the mall on a Sunday afternoon, which was already a very unpleasant way to spend the day according to him, but he could have handled a shopping afternoon with her or something like that - she was his girlfriend after all. However, what she had planned was so much worse - she had arranged a double date with her best friend, who he didn't even know, and her boyfriend who was also a stranger to him. He didn't even know why he had agreed to this. These kinds of arranged dates were everything he hated - he found them cheesy and way too awkward.
He was pulled from his thoughts by a sloppy kiss. Alice's smile widened before she took a step back and resumed scanning the crowd for her friend. He remembered now why he had agreed: Alice had tricked him with kisses, caresses and promises. He'd been a real fool on that one. But who could blame him? Josh was a sixteen-year-old teenager dating for the first time. Next time, he'd think twice before agreeing on something like this… Well, at least he'd try - Alice could be rather convincing when she wanted to. She wasn't on the debate team by accident. And she was also persevering, cheerleading oblige. She was used to jumping for hours in the sun, no way she'd let him off that easy! Thing is, he was rather fond of this side of her. The small brunette was always ready for a fight, either verbal or physical. He liked that in her. Even the time she had overpowered him in front of his friends because he had hidden her cheerleading outfit couldn't dent his pride in having a strong, feisty girlfriend like Alice.
He never really understood why people at their school liked the over-cheerful and extroverted side of her so much. If he could, he'd dropped the giggles, cute pouting faces and chitchat in a heartbeat. Yet, he was willing to bet there would be plenty of them this afternoon…Alice's best friend was also a cheerleader and he knew from experience that hanging out with several flyers wasn't really relaxing. To make the situation even worse, he had to deal with the boyfriend. Boyfriend who, according to Alice, was the very popular lacrosse captain at his high-school. Can't you see it coming? The cheerleader and the lacrosse captain, probably future Queen and King of the prom and definitely the most stereotypical couple he will ever be blessed to meet. In his mind, he had already pictured one of those bitchy/dummy popular teen movie couples.
The first glimpse he got of them actually confirmed his fears. The girl, a tall figure with olive skin and curly brown hair, wore flowery mini-shorts with a flashy pink top. She was walking slowly, her hips rolling sensually with each step and a large gold handbag swinging in rhythm. As soon as she spotted Alice, her pace quickened and she jumped into the brunette's arms. The two girls turned into a bouncing pile of shrieks and laughter. Great... Josh returned his attention to the boy who was still walking slowly in their direction. He was tall - at least a head taller than me, Josh thought sourly. With his light brown hair arranged in a loose bun, his perfect tan and his athletic build, he looked like he'd just stepped out of an Abercrombie ad . Yet, his plain grey T-shirt, his faded denim and his turned around Denver Outlaws cap reflected something else.
Josh didn't have time to think about it further - Alice was waving excitedly at him. He reluctantly pulled himself away from the wall and joined the small group.
"Josh, this is Olivia and her boyfriend… Alexis, right?" Alice asked even though she already knew the answer. She had never met the guy in the flesh but Olivia had talked about him so many times that she couldn't forget his name even if she wanted to!
"Yeah that's it." He answered with an easy laugh. "Nice meetin' you. Finally."
"Same here," Alice chuckled as she hugged him. "Oh and this is Josh, my boyfriend!"
The blonde awkwardly waved to the couple. He wasn't the hugging type but apparently Olivia was. She quickly crossed the distance between them and wrapped her arms tightly around his shoulders for a quick embrace. "So nice to meet you! Alice was right, you ARE handsome!"
"Um…Thanks," josh replied as he took a few steps back. He glanced warily at Alexis and the boy seemed to sense his discomfort. He simply held his hand to Josh who the blonde shook it gladly.
After this brief introduction, the little group decided to stop at the ice-cream shop. As per usual, the small boutiqur was crowded. Teenagers were lined up in front of the machines, waiting to fill their cups with all their favorite ice cream flavors. The two girls weren't long to make their way to the counter, only taking a single scoop of vanilla ice cream each - something about keeping their weight down before an upcoming competition… One thing was sure, Josh wasn't on a diet and he would need all the sugar he could get to make it through the afternoon. He took a maxi cup, filled it with both peanut butter and chocolate ice cream and covered the whole with cookies, candies and toffee topping. He paid and joined the group. They were seated at a four-seat table, near the indoor fountain in the mall. Josh took the last seat available, near Alice and across Alexis. He peeked at the guy's cup: cookie ice cream, chocolate chips and whipped cream. Simple but efficient, he thought.
"So Alexis, I understood that you were sorta new in LA, right?", Alice asked.
"Yeah, my parents and I moved in this summer. This is my first school year here."
"Where are you from?" Josh asked, suddenly joining the conversation.
"Um…I spent the past two years in Denver. But I moved around quite a bit before that.… 'cause of my dad's job, y'know. " Josh didn't know. His "father" had left a long time ago and his mother had always worked at the same medical clinic. He nodded nonetheless.
"Wow that must not have been easy every day. Always being the new kid and all", Alice said.
"Sure but I…I usually manage to make friends pretty quickly." Alexis said, smiling at Josh.
"You don't say!" Olivia intervened loudly. "The guy’s been here for 5 months and he's already captain of the lacrosse team and one of the most popular guy at school!"
"And he already got himself a girl!" Alice pointed out, smirking.
"Well, how could I say no to him? He is handsome as hell, nice, intelligent and he asked me out on Halloween night, in a police man costume! Never say no to a cop, that's what my mother taught me" she winked.
Alice giggled before pursing her lips "You two are adorable!"
Really? How is this supposed to be cute? Josh's wondered, dumbstruck. That was probably one of the silliest thing he had ever heard. And a police man costume? Seriously? He could just picture the scene in his head and it was so funny he couldn't prevent a snicker from escaping his mouth.
"Something funny, Josh?" Olivia asked, her voice going way too high. Josh snapped his mouth shut. "You know, I actually don't know much about you. How did you conquer the heart of my bestie?"
" Ollie!" Alice shrieked.
"What?" Olivia replied with a deceptively innocent tone and a huge smile plastered on her face. "Isn't this double date supposed to be about us getting to know each other better?" She winked before turning back to her victim. "So Josh?"
The blonde looked around for help but they were all staring at him expectantly. Even Alice. Mostly Alice, actually. She had stars in her eyes, as if she expected him to tell an extroardinary story on how they had met and fallen deeply in love with each other. He couldn't do that. He didn’t talk about feelings. Never. To anyone. Alice knew that very well.
He gulped down a spoonful of ice cream before answering "There's nothing special, really. We've known each other for a while, since the ninth grade or somethin and…um… I don't know, we got closer this year 'cause Alice was designated as my English tutor. Then, we started dating. That's all, really." He sneaked a look at Alice and saw her pouting but there was no way he'd say another word. Olivia was about to ask another question when Alexis spoke, launching a brand new talking point. Josh couldn't be more grateful right now. He sent Alexis a weak smile, to which the brunette responded quickly with a wink.
Swiftly, the discussion drifted to lighter subjects such as the lastest Netflix movie, NBA scores and even lasagna recipes. As Josh predicted, Olivia was too much for him. She spoke too loudly, she complained too much and Josh had trouble keeping up with her and her thoughts process. As for Alexis, he wasn't the arrogant jerk Josh thought he was. Sure, he knew his charms and wasn't afraid to use them to get what he wanted but he was also very chill. He had no trouble making fun of himself and his smile was nothing if contagious. Yet, what caught Josh's attention the most was his passion for sports. Unlike many kids their age, he wasn't doing it for the glory. He wasn't growing muscles to impress girls or some shit like that. No, lacrosse was his life, just like surfing was for Josh. They needed it to feel complete, to feel alive.
"Are you all done? I wanna go bowling!" Alice said suddenly. "Are you in?"
The three teenagers nodded enthusiastically and quickly made their way to the entertainment wing of the mall. They passed the arcades and entered the bowling alley. The place smelt of soaked leather and frying oil - a disgusting smell that matched perfectly with the old rock n' roll hits coming out from the speakers and the sleazy green carpet. The little group made its way through the crowd and settled on the red and white sofa in front of the alley number 3. They argued fior a moment about the team composition before finally deciding that it would be more fun to go with a classic “girls vs. boys” game.
Alexis seemed ecstatic about this choice. Josh? Not so much. He had only bowled a few times in his life and he was far from being a good bowler. An idea popped up in his mind: he could always say he'd lost on purpose; "let the girls win", the premise of chivalry, right? Except it was 2018, girls didn’t buy this shit anymore. They won fair and square or they lost. End of the story. Besides, it was obvious Alexis was in for the win and Josh didn't want to be the one to let him down.
The girls initiated the game and were now both standing on the edge of the alley, trying to find the right angle and knock down the last three pins that were standing. Alexis was strolling around the back of the room, weighting different balls, trying to find the ones that would fit him best. Josh sighed heavily. He was going to make a fool of himself. WORSE.FUCKING.DAY.EVER….
"Wanna play first?"
Josh started and almost dropped the ball he was holding when he heard Alexis behind him. "No, you first", he mumbled.
Alexis smiled and headed toward the alley. Of course, he had the perfect position, knew exactly how to throw and got a damn strike on his first try. Josh smiled brightly and high fived his partner of the afternoon but deep inside it was a whole different story. He felt so embarassed. Why couldn't he run on someone who sucked at bowling just as much as he did?
"Ready to play?" Alexis asked in a conspiratory manner.
Josh quickly glanced at the two girls who were playing ten meters away from them. He looked back at Alexis and the intensity in his eyes made him hesitate. He chocked on his own saliva and finally gave in.
"Yeah 'bout that, I... I don't know how to play bowling. I mean, I played before but it was like…ages ago and… I'm probably gonna suck at it. Actually, it's sure. I am gonna make you lose. I'm sorry, I should have…" He stopped short when Alexis's finger pressed against his lips.
"Chill dude, that's okay! It's just a game." Alexis chuckled.
"Yeah, but if we lose we're gonna hear about it for years…"
"Probably yeah!" Both boys laughed. "C'mon, I can show you the basis, if you want." Without waiting for an answer, Alexis grabbed Josh's hand that was still holding a bowling ball. He repositioned his fingers correctly and rotated his wrist a few times. He then stood behind the blonde surfer and mimed the motion he had to make for his ball to go straight. "See, it's simple. Just forget about effects and all those stuff and we'll be okay. Got it?"
Josh couldn't trust his mouth so he simply nodded. Proximity wasn't something he was used to, even his friend or with Alice. Even now, with Alexis almost plastered to his back, it felt weird, but a good weird, which was even weirder…
"Good, then go ahead," Alexis whispered, pushing the blonde slightly toward the alley with a hand on the small of his back.
Josh went obediently. He sighed and tried to remember what Alexis had just shown him. Problem was, the only thing he could remember was the warmth of the other teenager on his back, his arm and his hand. He swallowed hard and shook his head. Thinking was apparently not such a great idea. Instead, he walked forward, threw the ball and prayed. It rolled, drifted slightly to the left before knocking down five pins. Josh didn't realize the achievement until he felt Alexis hug him from behind. He stumbled a little bit but managed to grab Alexis's arm to steady himself.
"Sorry," said Alexis laughing and smiling.
"What for?" the blonde asked, honestly lost. He just got a hit for God's sake!
"Hugging you, I guess? From what I saw, it's not really your thing!"
Josh just shrugged because he was right: he didn't like being hugged -always felt trapped or something. He hadn't minded Alexis hugging him though. Just caught in the moment, he thought.
They exchanged one last smile and joined the girls on the sofa.
"Wow boys, you could be nicer, you know!"
"It's just a game and it's not my fault I have such a good partner !" Alexis chuckled.
Josh was about to do the same but his laugh died in his throat when he saw Alexis looking at him from head to toe. Josh wasn't the oblivious type - he knew very well that there was nothing innocent about this. His cheeks turned pink and he had to look away, look at Alice to keep his mind off Alexis.
The game went on for a good hour. With each throw, one of the teens would come up with a new challenge that was more outlandish than the last - throwing backwards, singing "Baby" at the top of their lungs when a ball went down the gutter, etc. Josh would never admit it out loud but he had been all wrong. After some tense and awkward introductions, the atmosphere had clearly loosened and the blonde was having a great time. Olivia was still loud and imposing but she was also very funny and then there was Alexis... An easy-going and smiling Alexis that kept invading his personnal space every chance he got and honnestly, Josh didn't mind one bit.
XxXxXxX
The hours flew by and soon the four teenagers found themselves in the middle of the parking lot. "I think this is where we say good bye," Olivia sighed. "My mum drove us to come here so we have to take the bus now."
"Yeah but it was nice meetin' you, the two of you," Alexis said, his eyes never leaving the blonde.
Just like before, Josh couldn't look away. He was drowning in these green eyes and the words escaped his mouth before he could think about it. "I have my car. I can drive you home... I mean ... if you want to."
Alice jumped at the idea and puller her best friend toward the car before Olivia could even reply. The two boys followed side by side, a small smile on both their faces.
Josh's car was parked on the second level. Hidden between two enormous black Range Rovers, his jeep seemed even smaller. Josh had bought it at a second-hand car sale but had repaired it carefully. The midnight blue paint was brand new and he had added white and blue Reef seat-covers. Alice told him to drive to her place first and the blonde obliged. It turned out that Olivia and Alice actually lived only a few blocks from each other.
"How come we don't go to the same high school then?" Josh asked truly lost. Weirdly, the subject had not come up during their afternoon.
"Because those two," Alice intervened while pointing to Olivia and Alexis, "go to a private school! We aren't good enough for them, you see!," she sighed humorously.
"Wait, you go to Anchor Beach?" Josh blurted.
"Yeah. You know about it?" Alexis questionned, his body now fully turned to look at Josh.
"Sure!" Josh replied excitedy. "I compete against several guys from this school during surf competitions. I beat them everytime," the blonde added with a big smirk. Alexis rolled his eyes but couldn't help smiling.
A few minutes later, they stopped in front of Alice's house and they all went out of the car, finishing their conversation. " I should go before my mom send the cops after me!", Olivia said, peeking at her pink watch.
"Me too!", Alice replied. "I think my mum is actually watching us from behind the curtains! Creepy!" They all laughed. The little brunette surprise her boyfriend with a quick peck and ran to her house. Olivia followed her example. She kissed Alexis and left, leaving the boys alone on the sidewalk.
"You know, I can take the bus from here, I don't want to bother you.” Alexis said.
"You're kidding? I'm the one who offered to drive you so get your ass in the car and tell me where I have to go!"
Alexis laughed but did as he was told. He fastened his seat belt and looked at Josh. Unlike their previous exchanges, this time his gaze was soft and shy. "You're sure it doesn't bother you?"
"A hundred percent sure," Josh replied not breaking eye contact. "So, where do you live?"
"Hoster Street, along Malibu beach."
Josh nodded - he'd surfed this beach long enough to know exactly where it was. Everyone he knew called this street 'Silver Street' because of the huge metal gate that protected its entrance. Only wealthy businessmen and retired professional sportsmen could afford the mansions that were hidden behind this gate. However, Josh made no comment and started driving in silence.
A few minutes later, he was parked in front of the so-called gate. Alexis unbuckled his seat belt and gathered his things. He was half way out the car before he changed his mind. "Do you want to come in?"
Josh barely hesitated before whispering a small "yes". Alexis smiled at him for what must have been the hundreth time. Awardly, josh wondered if he'd himself smiled that much this afternoon. He usually didn't.
They passed several houses, all beautiful and at least four times the size of Josh's house before stopping in front of Alexis's. The car was like a blot on the landscape but it didn't seem to bother Alexis who just headed to the door and looked for his keys. "Comin' in?"
The inside was even more beautiful than the outside but Josh didn't have time to look around for Alexis was already guiding him upstairs to his room. It was more modern than the rest of the house. The walls were painted a light grey with small touches of orange and red. Josh was drawn directly to the shelves above Alexis's desk. They were covered with at least two dozen trophies and medals. They came in all sizes and colors, some bronze, some silver but most of them gold.
"Quite a collection, isn't it?", Alexis boasted. Despite his humor, Josh could hear how proud he was of his accomplishments.
"They’re all yours?" The brunette nodded. "Fuck. You started competition in kindengarden or what?" On the other side of the room, Alexis laughed.
"Almost! Got my first trophy when I was six I think, for running."
"Nice" Josh scanned the rest of the shelf slowly. "What about this one?" has asked, pointing at a frame that contained a small golden medal. He tensed when he felt Alexis getting closer to him, reaching for the reward.
"My first lacrosse victory. I lived in Chicago at that time. We were thirteen and we won the middle school's championship."
"Impressive."
"Coming from the guy who beat Anchor Beach students at surf, that's something! Thank you, Josh!" he said, clearly teasing the blond.
"Hey! Don't joke with that! That was a HUGE surf meeting. And I rocked it!"
"Did you?"
"Damn right I did. I'm a fucking ace at surfing. You should see me!"
"I'd love to," Alexis responded tit for tat. His voice was low and sooo close to Josh's ear. The blonde couldn't prevent a shiver from running through his body. He was also pretty sure his cheeks were now a beautiful shade of burning red. He tried to hide it by turning a little but since the other teen was almost plastered against his back and had a couple inches on him, it was rather complicated to escape from his stare…
When the brunette put the frame back on the shelf, Josh thought he was FINALLY going to be free of his embrace and the dying embarrassment he felt. But Alexis didn't step back. He remained there, his torso barely an inch from Josh's back, his arms brushing Josh's. The blonde continued stubbornly to stare at the shelf. One medal, two medals, three medals, four me- …. His brain froze when Alexis nuzzled his neck slowly. He could feel his breath on his skin, warm and tingling. Josh closed his eyes. To ignore the sensation? To feel it even more? He didn't know. He didn't care. Right now, it seemed like nothing mattered except for Alexis's teeth nibbling lightly at the muscle between his shoulder and neck. The blonde bit his lips, hard, to keep any unwanted sounds from coming out. The other teen didn't seem to agree as he trailed his fingers sensuously down Josh’s spine. Once he reached the bottom, he played with the hem of the surfer's shirt, never letting his fingers actually touch the warm flesh underneath it. Josh groaned and wriggled, unconsciously seeking skin to skin contact. Alexis beamed. Cocky bastard.
THe lacrosse player eventually pressed his palm on Josh's back and let it wander there. Josh didn't even try to stop the sigh of pleasure this time. Instead, he reveled in it. The weigh of a heavy hand on his body, the warmth enveloping him, the burn on his neck - his head was buzzing with new sensations. He turned in the brunette's arms, joining their foreheads and noses.
"You should tell me to stop now!" Alexis whispered, his fingers easily finding and gripping Josh's hipbones.
Josh's eyes shot open. For a second, he seemed lost, as if everything that had just happened was a dream. He looked into Alexis's eyes - they used to be a deep green but were now a magnetic gleaming black. Looking into them, Josh knew why he had agreed to follow the brunette to his room. He pushed Alexis against the opposite wall, cornering him with a hand on each side of his head. "What if I don't want to?"
Needless to say, Josh was surprised. First of all, by his own words but mostly by his tone. It was strong, commanding and without a hint of hesitation. He felt brave, braver than usual, brave enough to surge forward and connect their lips together.
Alexis's hands desperately clutched at Josh's neck, causing a whine to escape his throat. It was quickly replaced by a moan when the brunette's tongue invaded his mouth. Every flick of tongue, every brush of teeth sent surges of electricity through his body. He could feel Alexis shivering against him, his movements as frantic as his.
A vibration ran through their legs so suddendly it made them part. They were panting, chests moving up and down in rhythm. The vibration occurred again and Josh realized it was coming from his pocket. Clumsily, he grabbed his phone and opened the text he'd just received: "Thnx 4 this afternoon. It meant a lot to me. Love U. Alice". He blinked twice before looking back at the boy pressed flush against him. When he realized how close they were, he stepped back, nearly tripping on a bag on the floor.
"I.. I have to … go. I'm sorry, I.." Josh mumbled while running shaky hands in his hair. He couldn't even look at the other boy. Shame had infiltrated his veins in less than a second and was now spreading thoughout his entire body. He mumbled something else, something Alexis couldn't understand, and left the house.
THe brunette threw his head back, leaning against the wall. From the look on Josh's face, he knew it was a BIG mistake, yet he didn't regret anything. How could he when his blood was still boiling from Josh's touch, when his tongue was instinctively licking his lips, chasing after Josh's taste.

Haven’t been on here in forever !
I’m back at uni now (20/09/19), I moved back last Friday and so far it’s been absolutely amazing. My room is the nicest ever I love it so much, my housemates are the best and everything is going so good so far !
Mom came down with me on the train on Friday, I got no sleep because we had to leave the house at half three in the morning to get a bus to town to get the 5:30 train. It was quite stressful because my railcard has expired and I didn’t realise so I had to buy a new one on the train and I felt really sick for some reason , but we saw an amazing sunrise and it was pretty fun to go with mom.
We had a great day, went for breakfast, did a grocery shop, walked round town, did my room ... it was so fun ! Mom paid for my first grocery shop which was really nice!
Other than that I’ve been out a few times for freshers, I’ve sort of been working on a basis of one night out, one night in. So I went out on Saturday night which was my first time in academi as I never went last year, and that was pretty fun I actually had a great time! Gen and I made friends with this group of gay guys who were really funny and cool, and one does geography and he gave me his number if I need help !! I also saw sash and Ollie from hockey and then this guy off my course who I have seen before but I hadn’t got a fuckin clue what he was called, I did ask his name but I didn’t hear it and I didn’t want to ask again hahaha. I danced with him and his mate for ages- he asked me where I was living about 5 times it was so funny, and he kept talking into my ear and I was just going along with it cause I couldn’t tell what he was on about Hahahha. He was cool though ! Then he went to the loo so I ran back outside to find Glenn cause my phone was dying, and then we went home I think. It was so sick! Then Monday was a messy one hahaha, I was more drunk than I’ve ever been and truly I don’t remember half of it. Like I wasn’t black out awful drunk but like I woke up and didn’t remember bits of the night. We stayed in the house and played card games and drinking games, then we went to BV for a round and some shots , then we went to rascals and I had this green drink and I don’t even know what it was cause I never buy my own drinks so I just take what Gina gives me hahaha (not like in a scabby way, I wouldn’t ever expect or even ask my friends to buy my drinks for me) so that was that.... then we went to academi and truly I do not remember being in academi at all. I remember leaving and I saw AJ from hockey and I didn’t remember this but he told me later that apparently I was just making Brooklyn 99 references hahahahaha oh my gosh that proper made me laugh when he told me that. Anyway I was crying really bad on the way home cause I really was missing Matt and I called him and he thought someone had done something to me so he was going to drive here yikes but it was ok I told him I was just sad and he stayed on the phone for ages while we wakes home. Gina wasn’t too drunk but joe was plastered unbelievably because he was quite sad cause his girlfriend cheated on him over summer and I think he’s still pretty upset about it. So he couldn’t even walk, turns out he didn’t even get into academi cause he couldn’t stand up, so he just came home with Gina and I. Gina went into the takeaway to get food which I don’t remember, and two people who I don’t know were holding joe up, but I just remember him lying on the pavement throwing up. It wasn’t good. And then I sort of ran off down the street cause I really needed a wee and I was talking to matt and Gina was yelling at me like a dog to stay put Hahahahah . Anyway we managed to get home- I throw up which I remember was VILE cause I’d just eaten chips (actually I had only eaten chips that day) and they basically came up whole . It felt absolutely vile. I did take all my makeup off though ! Joe slept in Gina’s bed and she slept on the floor. I woke up and I didn’t feel so bad, like I didn’t throw up or have a bad hangover or anything. Regardless, I am never doing that again. I know people always say that but I actually mean it 100%. Anyway I was supposed to have a hockey training session on Tuesday at 3:30 and as time was creeping on I started to feel a bit dodgy and I wasn’t sure whether to go cause I thought this is either gonna kill me off or make me feel loads better. I did go in the end and it made me feel better and I was totally fine afterwards so I was happy I went !!! It was so sunny as well, and I stupidly wore a thick long sleeved top . It was funny we were doing this drill and I kept hitting the ball into Lewis’ feet pretty hard so he was hobbling hahahaha and then he pulled a muscle so all in all it wasn’t great for him. Oh as well he’s best mates with patrick in my house which is sick cause I think Lewis is sound so if he’s round ours it’ll be cool :)
Tuesday was obviously a night in , which was needed and appreciated !
Wednesday was amazing .... Gina has gone to Llandudno with Sean all day so me, Glenn, joe, Michael, and Alex went to serendipity which is the student fair where you sign up to all the socs and clubs . We went at like 11 in the morning and it was such a good day ! We walked round and got fuck tons of free shit, I got a slice of pizza (although I gave it to Glenn as I don’t like pizza lol) a subway cookie and a load of subway vouchers, a canvas bag, a pen a wall calendar which I was sooooo happy about, a coaster, some post its, Morrison’s vouchers, free teabags, 4 booklets of spoons vouchers, a free smoothie, a free burger ... it was so good. I signed up to hockey obvs and ask mountain walking as mom wants me to do and I was going to go last year but it clashes with hockey a bit and I didn’t know anyone else. Turns out joe did it last year, and Michaels doing It this year so I’ll defo go !!! Then we went outside and played with the lacrosse stuff (Glenn does lacrosse) and we were just lobbing the balls at the goal, but they kept smacking the halls windows hahahaj, then there was a strip of Astro and a crazy catch for hockey and a couple of the lads were there like lyells, dyson, AJ etc so I was doing that do ages. It was sooooook much fun the sun was baking and I was wearing such a nice outfit and everything was sick !
All the hockey girls were asking if I’d go to social that night so I did end up going. I met holly and Maggs at BV and then we walked down to varsity with this old girl called Sam .
Social was actually ok ! I just had a pint of cider black currant which was ok and it was only 1.50 which was good cause I lit took 5£ with me out Hahahah. We played drinking games but they were the nicer ones they so it was fine. Then we went to harp for shots at 11:15 but I didn’t have one ‘cause hell no lol then we went i academi again, although it was absolutely dead in there. I danced for a bit then went outside and sat with Eleanor and the others outside for a bit. There was a really funny fight / argument where this girl was saying ‘I’m not wasting my time on you’ to this lad and then idk what next but she just yelled ‘your jackets from a charity shop!’ And it was so fucking funny cause he was so angry he was like ‘this jacket was £340’ loooooool .
Anyway I left a while after and just walked home cause I had a headache and my phone was on 6% so I just called Matt and went home, was so so lovely to have a relatively early nice still , I was in bed weeeellllll before 1am . Yum .
Then yesterday was sick too, it was the freshers hockey taster session . I wasn’t like ‘supposed’ to go but I went along anyway cause it was a peng day again and i has nothing better to do so I headed over. It was cool I just stood with Eleanor and AJ coaching and I joined in with some of the drills and Lydia and I passed it around a bit so it was really fun !!! Baking though!! Luckily I’d frozen a litre bottle of water the other day so I took that.
Joe and I made dinner together as Gina was at a law dinner, so we were just chatting and that, and then I was on FaceTime to Matt until like getting on for 1 . We were talking about how we’d treat our kids like in terms of differences between a boy and girl and we had a massive conversation about it all. Matts quite traditional because that’s his upbringing so he said he’d be more in line to be stricter on a daughter with going and stuff because of the risks, and I said my whole Spiel about I wouldn’t tell my daughter to put more clothes on to go out because that’s like saying it’s her fault or she’s asking for it when I don’t agree with that and that is be more likely to be stricter on my son with stuff like u know absolutely do not touch a girl without consent, don’t spike drinks, don’t harass girls etc so stuff that seems obvious but I feel like isn’t drilled into boys enough... so we had such a lib conversation and it turned into all the worldly social issues. I like those conversations because whilst often I do not agree with matts view it’s good to talk about it, and much as I’m not trying to always make him agree with me, i do like to try and get him to see things more radically and then understand where I’m coming from (because not being funny but i do truly think I’m right) and it does make me pleased when he shifts his stance slightly because he’s seen things from a different perspective - esp because I’m a girl and he isn’t . It was actually such a good thing to do, esp cause I am really passionate (if u will) about stuff like that. I almost with I’d recorded it to listen back lol .
Anyway we’re all going out today to acid lakes- should be amazing since the weathers good and everyone’s sound. Updates to follow xoxox

Fic: Lost in the Memory ch. 21
Title: Lost in the Memory
Author: Some1FoundMe
Summary: Oliver Queen returns to his home in Star City after a five year tour overseas, much to the delight of his friends and family. There’s just one small problem. The injury that effectively ended his military career also erased a part of his memory.  As he struggles to put together the missing pieces of his past, his connection to his best friend’s little sister becomes something he can’t avoid. Who is Felicity Merlyn and why can’t he seem to stay away from her?  Olicity AU, no Arrow, no island.
A/N:  Wow, I can’t believe we only have five more chapters left of this fic.  It’s been such a fun journey and I’m so thankful that I’ve been able to share it with you.  You all are so wonderful and have been so kind.  Thank you so much for sticking with me!  Also, to my beta westernbeauty, I couldn’t do it without you!
Read on AO3 or ff.net.
Chapter Twenty-One
Thea clung to her, her tiny arms wound tightly around Felicity’s neck, her little legs locked around her waist.  And Felicity didn’t bother trying to move her.  She led Mr. Steele into the kitchen and sat across from him with her niece in her lap.
“Mrs. Queen, I am so very sorry for you loss.  I only had the privilege of meeting your brother on two occasions but he was a good man,” the lawyer said kindly, “He and Mrs. Merlyn were adamant that, in the event that something were to happen to them, you would become the guardian of Thea.”
Felicity nodded, “That’s correct.  Is there – is there something wrong with the paperwork? You’re not here to take her from me?”
“No, dear, not at all.  Everything is fine.  I just have some forms that I’ll need you to sign.  There is one matter of concern, however, that we need to discuss.”
She clutched the sleeping child in her arms tighter, refusing for a moment to let her go.
“Oh?”
Mr. Steele drew a folder from his briefcase and slid it across the table to her.
“At the time that Thomas and Laurel’s will was drawn up, you were not yet married.”
“Oliver and I were married just before Laurel’s accident.  I guess I … I guess I didn’t realize that Tommy hadn’t changed anything since then.  We never – we never talked about it.”
Thea shifted against her.  For the last three days she hadn’t left Felicity’s side.  After the funeral, Thea had spent every waking moment with her. She’d found herself curled around her niece in her single bed each night since, comforting her as she’d cried herself to sleep, begging for her daddy to come home.  And each tear broke Felicity’s heart.  She wished that Oliver was there with them because while she would always be there to comfort Thea, she needed her husband there to comfort her.
“I understand that your husband is still serving overseas?”
She nodded, “He is.  He – he couldn’t make it home for the funeral.  They’re imbedded over there somewhere and I … I haven’t heard from him since he called to tell me about Tommy.”
Mr. Steele nodded, reaching for the folder he’d passed her and flipping it open.
“This is a petition for adoption.  You are the sole legal guardian of Thea Dinah Merlyn at this time. If you and your husband decide that he would like to adopt her, I’d encourage you to begin the process when he returns.  Everything that you’ll need is in this folder.  I’d be happy to help you through the process, just have Mr. Queen sign everything and return the documents to me at your convenience.”
Felicity nodded numbly, her eyes scanning the documents without really seeing them.
“I certainly hope your husband returns safely, Mrs. Queen.”
“Thank you, Mr. Steele.  So do I.”
Felicity pulled into the Lance’s driveway and wiped at the dried tears that stained her cheeks.
She’d driven the nearly sixty miles to Laurel’s parents’ house blindly.  If someone had asked, she couldn’t have told them which path she’d taken or what the traffic had been like.  The entire drive was a blur.
Her mind was still racing as she tried to process everything that had taken place that morning.  From waking up in Oliver’s arms to breakfast with Sara and Nyssa to the violent encounter with her father only an hour earlier.  As overwhelmed as she was, Felicity couldn’t shake the relief that had settled in her bones.  John and Oliver had assured her that everything would be okay and she was beginning to believe them.  Malcolm had been taken into custody.  With any luck, he would be held until he was sentenced and they wouldn’t have to worry about any kind of retaliation.  She had no doubt that when her father sobered up and realized exactly what he’d done and how she had reacted that he would be furious.  He’d feel like she turned her back on him, like she chose Oliver and his family over him.  She had and she didn’t regret it for a second.
With one last glance at her reflection, Felicity exited the truck and hurried to the front door.
“Aunt Felicity!”
Thea’s excited voice carried from the back of the house as Quentin Lance opened the door for her. She smiled up at Thea’s grandfather, stepping into the warmth of the house and letting him pull her into a tight hug.
“How you doin’, kiddo?”
She sighed, “I take it Thea told you all about Oliver being home?”
Quentin stepped back and held her at arm’s length, eyeing her with obvious concern.  He looked at her the way a father looked at his child when he knew that they were struggling, like he was waiting for the floodgates to open and for all of her fears to come tumbling out.  She worried her lip between her teeth to stop that from happening.
“Thea didn’t have to tell us.  Sara did.”
A blur of dark hair suddenly appeared and skinny arms wound their way around her waist as Thea squeezed her tightly.
“Hey, babe, did you have fun with Nana and Pop?”
Thea nodded and grabbed her hand, leading her down a hall that led to the kitchen.
“Yes!  We went to the movies yesterday and Pop helped me build a snowman and Nana and I made cookies!  You’ve gotta try one, Aunt Felicity, they’re soooo good.”
Felicity laughed, letting herself be dragged through the house, knowing that Quentin was right behind them.  She took a seat beside Thea at the kitchen island as Dinah Lance set a plate of chocolate chip cookies in front of her.
“Hello, sweetheart, how are you?”
Dinah’s smile was warm and familiar and the concern that Felicity heard in her words rang true. Tears blurred her vision suddenly and she blinked them away.
“I’m – I’m good,” she choked out, taking a large bite of cookie to buy herself a minute.
She chewed slowly, eyes on her plate, as she gathered her thoughts and decided on what exactly she was prepared to say.
“How much has Sara told you?” she asked eventually, taking a sip from Thea’s milk glass.
Quentin shifted to stand beside his wife, his arm going around her.
“Oliver … Oliver has selective amnesia.  He suffered a pretty serious head injury a few months back and there are bits and pieces of his life that he can’t remember.  He do –doesn’t know who I am.  Well, I mean, he didn’t know me.  When he first came home.  He had no idea who I was.  He remembered his parents and Tommy and even Thea but he … he had no memory of me.”
Quentin looked at her expectantly.
“And now?” he urged.
She shrugged, “And now he… he knows me but he doesn’t actually remember.  He only knows because I’ve told him.  He still has no memory of our life together.”
Dinah reached for her hand, squeezing it gently.
“Felicity, I can’t imagine –“
“I’m okay.  We’re okay.  It’s bizarre, I know, the whole thing is just a … it’s a mess,” she confessed, “But Oliver just wants things to go back to how they were.  Which is what I want, too, obviously.  So we’re… we’re trying to live as normally as possible and we’re hoping that something comes along to jog his memory.”
She turned to Thea and ruffled her hair.
“You ready to head home? You’ve got school in the morning so we should get going.”
She nodded and swallowed a mouthful of cookie.
“Yep.  I’ll go get my stuff.”
Thea hopped off of her barstool and hurried out of the kitchen.
“How is she doing with everything?” Quentin asked, nodding in the direction that Thea’d run off in, “With Oliver being back in the picture?”
Felicity shrugged, “He was never really out of it, Quentin.  Yes, he was deployed and wasn’t home with us regularly but Thea loves him. He’s the only father she has left in her life.  She’s thrilled that he’s home with us.”
Quentin looked as if he wanted to contradict her but Dinah cut him off.
“What are the chances that he recovers from his amnesia?” she questioned, “Will he ever regain his memories, Felicity?”
She sighed, “There’s no way to know for sure.  We’ve gotten conflicting opinions.  It’s … it’s such a tricky diagnosis that no one can give us a straight answer.  But honestly, it doesn’t matter either way. We’re happy together.  We’re a family.  We won’t let this tear us apart.”
Thea chose that moment to come bounding back into the kitchen, her backpack slung over one shoulder, and all conversation about Oliver’s condition fell away.  Felicity slid off of her stool.
“Say goodbye, sweets.”
Thea gave each of her grandparents a hug before leading the way to the front door.  As she tugged on her coat and shoes, Felicity accepted hugs from both Dinah and Quentin.
“Take care of her, Felicity,” Quentin urged, “And don’t forget to take care of yourself.”
She nodded, her throat too constricted to speak, and relieved Thea of her bag.  Their hands fit together snugly and Felicity smiled down at her niece as she walked her to the truck.
“Where’s Uncle Ollie?” Thea asked when they’d started the trip back home.
Felicity met her eyes in the rearview mirror.  She couldn’t miss the anxiousness on Thea’s face and the sight of it concerned her. She understood why Laurel’s parents would be worried.  Thea was their only grandchild and rather than being left in their care, she’d been left with her then twenty-three year old aunt.  And now she was dealing with a wildly unconventional situation involving amnesia and – more than likely – PTSD.
She forced a smile.
“He’s with Gramma and Grandpa,” she explained, “But we’re going to stop and pick him up on our way home.”
“Okay.”
Thea looked away, finding something outside of her window to focus on, and Felicity sighed quietly. She gripped the steering wheel just a little tighter.
“Hey, Thea, what’s wrong?”
She shrugged, “Nothing.”
“It’s not nothing.  I can tell when something’s bothering you, babe. It’s okay.  You know you can talk to me about anything.  What’s going on?”
Thea shrugged again and hesitated.  Eventually though, she found Felicity’s eyes in the mirror.
“Why didn’t Uncle Ollie come with you?”
“He just had some stuff to do with Gramma Moira, that’s all.”
It wasn’t the right time to tell her about Malcolm.  Oliver had assured her that he would stand by her, that they’d tell Thea together, and she was looking forward to that.  Not, of course, having to tell Thea that her grandfather had attacked them but to actually having Oliver with her when she did.  She’d been the bearer of really awful news to her niece over the years so it would certainly be a nice change of pace not to have to face that burden alone anymore.  It certainly made her more comfortable knowing that Thea would have both of them to lean on.
“So you’re not fighting?”
“No, honey, we’re not fighting.  Thea… Uncle Oliver and I aren’t always together.  But that doesn’t mean that we’re fighting or that something’s wrong.”
Thea nodded but Felicity could see uncertainty in her eyes.
“Listen to me, sweet girl. Uncle Oliver isn’t going anywhere. He’s not going back to the Army and he isn’t going to live with Gramma and Grandpa.  He’s going to stay with us no matter what.  Because the three of us?  We’re family.  Okay?”
Thea’s lip quivered slightly and if she hadn’t been traveling at a steady speed down the interstate, Felicity would’ve pulled over and pulled her into her arms.
“I know it’s hard for you when people leave, no matter the reason, but I promise you, you’re stuck with us, kid.”
Even though she didn’t say anything more, Felicity could sense that some of Thea’s fears had been eased. By the time they arrived at the Queen manor, she was sound asleep and huddled into her coat.  Leaving the truck running, Felicity hurried out and jogged to the front door.
Crossing the threshold into the foyer, Felicity turned to the family room as she was met with the quiet sounds of the television.  She was more than a little surprised to find Moira napping quietly on the sofa, a cashmere throw wrapped around her.  Oliver slept, too, not quite as comfortably as his mother, where he sat in a chair opposite the couch with his feet propped up on the coffee table between them.  She stood motionless for a long moment, her eyes drawn to his relaxed face.  It caught her off guard, the wave of calm that settled around her in his presence.
“They’ve both had a rough day.”
She let out a startled squeak, clapping a hand over her heart as she whirled around to face Oliver’s father.
“Oh my god,” she gasped.
“I’m sorry, Felicity. I didn’t mean to startle you. Where’s Thea?”
It took her a second to catch her breath.
“It’s alright.  She’s in the truck.  She fell asleep and I didn’t want to wake her.  Apparently she had a long weekend.”
Robert nodded and for the second time in the span of an hour, she felt like she was being stared down by a concerned parent.
“I’m sure you’re ready to head home,” Robert said gently, “It’s been a very long day for everyone.”
She scoffed, “That’s putting it mildly.”
His hand wrapped around her elbow, the touch surprising her, and she looked up at him.
“Felicity, I just want you to know that you made the right decision today.  I know that I – that I hesitated when Oliver wanted to call the police but he was right.  And you were right to want to press charges for the things that Malcolm has done to you. I’m sorry that Moira and I didn’t step in when you were younger.  We both suspected and we should’ve done something about it.”
Her chest felt tight and the tears she’d been battling for hours pushed their way to the surface again. Her voice cracked as she spoke, giving her away.
“Thank you,” she murmured, “Honestly, I don’t know that anyone could have really done anything about it.  Not then, anyway.  But Oliver always did what he could to protect me.  And … and I think my dad may have been afraid of him.”
Robert chuckled, giving her arm a gentle squeeze before releasing her.
“He loves you very much. He always has, even though he may not have known it.  He’ll never let anything happen to you.  I hope you’ll stick with him, Felicity.  He needs you now more than ever.”
She glanced back at Oliver where he slept on, head back and mouth slightly open.
“I’m not going anywhere. At least not without him.”
Robert simply nodded and walked away, leaving her to step across the room until she was at Oliver’s side. She scraped her fingers through his hair, leaning over him and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.  He shifted immediately, coming awake quickly and stretching.
“Hey there,” she whispered, “Are you ready to go home?”
He turned his head, finding her mouth easily.
“Where’s Thea?”
He stood and stretch some more, the hem of his sweatshirt rising just enough to give her a brief glimpse of toned abs.  She shook her head.
“Sleeping in the truck. She was exhausted.”
Oliver slipped his arm around her waist and they headed toward the front door.  He only released her long enough to slip on his coat.
“How are you?” he asked as they climbed into the truck.
She sighed, shrugging.
“I’m… I’m okay, I think. Or I will be.”
He reached for her hand, lacing their fingers together.
“I hope you didn’t feel like I was pressuring you earlier, with your dad.”
She shook her head, “Not at all.  It’s okay, Oliver, really.  I was just… overwhelmed with what it all means.  Thinking about what comes next.  It’s a lot.”
Leaning across the console, she kissed him soundly.
“I’m sorry I ran.”
“Baby, if you need time or space, that’s perfectly fine.  Just as long as I know you’re coming back, we’re okay.”
She smiled, “Okay.”
“Ready to go home?”
“Absolutely.”
