Tagged by the lovely @ride-a-dromedary for a list of my current five favourite songs (in no particular order)!
Sunset - Makoto Matsushita
昔みたい - Mebae Miyahara
Tired - The Wandering Hearts
Doomscroller - Metric
Paraclete Bhishajyati - Fire-Toolz
As with any individual song recommendations, I always say to listen to the albums they come from, in addition! (Aside from the Mebae Miyahara, as that is not on Spotify and only half on YouTube).
If anyone also wants to do this, say you were tagged by me! I can always list five more :).

“HOW DOES MOBILE APPS BECOME PART OF MY DAILY LIFE?”
Tumblr media
Given that we currently live in the modern era. Anyone has access to the internet through their smartphones, which are truly important to people's everyday tasks nowadays. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, including education, online businesses, and many other things, where it can be applied as fundamental information to many facets of life.
I can't deny that I still have many things to learn about the course I have been chosen for, even if I decided to pursue a degree in information and communications technology and become a teacher soon. Although it may be difficult to evolve, I hope to see an exciting future, five years or ten years from now on. My aim is to provide important information to my incoming students regarding the significance of using mobile apps and the possible advantages as well as disadvantages that may occur for them.
And now for the very interesting part. I created this blog because I was interested to discuss some of mobile apps that I use the most and provide honest feedback based on my experience dealing those apps carefully and using them in the right manner. Let us start and see! 😁👀
Here's the list of my TOP 10 MOBILE APPS THAT I AM USING IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE:
1. Facebook
2. Google
3. Messenger
4. YouTube
5. Spotify
6. Microsoft Office
7. Canva
8. Google Chrome
9. MVLE Mobile
10. Google Classroom
Facebook is the leading app I am using everyday. Why? Because, I discovered that I could socialize with people using this app in many ways other than face-to-face interactions, such as reacting and commenting to their posts, sharing memes that I saw on newsfeeds and could apply to my real-life status, joining various group pages to share my knowledge, selling things that can generate a profit and starting a business, and a ton of other freely made things.
Google comes in second. This app is already available on all cellphones that you could purchase. However, when it comes to complete my schoolwork and other assignments on time, that's when it becomes resourcefulness for me. I should not really 100% trusted this app, because, there are some things aren't true to know or can be lead into “misinformation” like in the website of Wikipedia. That's why, sometimes, I love to do my self-tasks alone.
The Messenger, the third one. It was an app that linked to Facebook, making it simpler to send messages to people you knew. I have been using this to connect with my teacher and classmates ever since the pandemic. It can't be access whenever I'm offline but, there's another variant of this app which is called, “Messenger Lite” that even basic mode can still access. Unlike the regular version, I guess.
The next one is YouTube. Through this app, I can watch the daily news that I couldn't watch on TV, to gather an additional information about the lessons in school I think it's hard to be understood, have a good time to watch those missed music videos that came from my favorite artists and so much more things to do.
For the fifth place, Spotify is always there at my phone to save me every time. When I listen to songs out there, it makes me heal from everything I pissed off. But, unfortunately, data or Wi-Fi is needed for this app. That's why sometimes, I listen to my download songs playlist. Whenever I don't have an internet to be used it. This kind of music streams is the best app that I had in my whole life and also, you can subscribe for its premium version (just optional only, if you want to remove ads while having a sound trip alone or with your family everywhere, especially, at home).
The two apps next to Spotify are named, “Microsoft Office 365” and “Canva.” Both are eligible to be used and finished on time, the tasks you want to overcome in everyday life. It makes me assist like an instructor that you can learn a lot from these two apps. That's why, I'm thankful that they created a superior & perfect app for every person who have a struggling problems that unable to solve when it comes to work that include time management.
The eighth one is “Google Chrome” that designed to be that's fastest web browser. With one click, it loads web pages, multiple tabs, and applications with lightning speed. Whenever I'm using this app, there will be always ads popping up. So, as a result, I easily annoyed sometimes but, we can't deny the fact that ads is everywhere, even for those online gamers can relate. As what I said, it allows me to set up tabs as many as I can, just in case I needed those pages.
While, the two left apps on my list are called, “MVLE Mobile” and “Google Classroom.” These two educational purpose apps makes me help to fulfill the tasks that I should be finished on time. Aside from that, they're lessons can pin and students can able to download it then, having a takes notes. So, just in case, our instructors may ask some questions about the lessons we read about the learning materials s/he has given through online access.
Tumblr media
As I end of my discussion about my experience that I shared here to those TOP 10 mobile apps that I am usually using everyday. I gained a lot of knowledge to them and since everything we use nowadays are related to technology. We can't force ourselves to be able silence but, to inform other people these apps are having an advantages and disadvantages at the same time. But, I would like to say that, “Be a responsible mobile apps user, especially when you're in social media. Think hard first before you click anything, not everything you may see are true. Just be careful with yourself and others that may affect, if ever you do wrongdoings that's not acceptable in our society.”
That's all, I hope you read my blog until the end. Thank you for the time you spend, have a great day ahead!

Blue Smart Card - Business Card Tech Review and How To Use It
welcome back to another review and today.
I'm going to talk about the blue smart card which is basically a business card replacement.
What is it it's in here I can take this out and this is what it looks like with cgn approaching and students asking me about business cards and cover letters and resumes and all that stuff is a lot of paperwork involved in printing and all that stuff.
Which of course you can do as a PDF and bupload to the sides but as you go to CTN no SIGGRAPH or GDC or any type of convention you may or may not want to think.
youtube
About a Blue business card some might think it's outdated something it's not need anymore nowadays with emails you know why would you need a business card.
But in case you do and you want to combine the old world with the new world I saw an advertisement for the blue card. I thought this is interesting I thought I need a business card. but I like tech stuff what can I say and I thought it was an interesting alternative.
How this works is that you go online and you go in blue the social. I will have a link in description and you can go on here it explains everything in terms.
What it is what the card does how to set it up where you can order it all of that good stuff as you can see it's somewhat thirty five dollar one-time fee it's on a subscription but if you go into the link in description.
I have actually referral link so if you go there it's 15% off and it helps me as well so if you are interested in you want to get it that link description is there for you and it's a bit cheaper. but let me show you how it works so basically this includes an NFC chip so when you take your phone and by the way the reason why I'm not recording this in my review closet over.
There is because I need my phone usually the phone is on top because it films the desk it's not important but.
Here's my phone so technically you take your phone take your car and you tap it and you can see the result here you can also tap it from behind as you can see as you tap this on the front or the back it keeps popping up.
So it's pretty fast even though I have a fairly thick case here it still goes through I tried it without the case and it's just instantaneous and I got a ton of notifications on there basically what happens is that you tap on this and then this shows up you can have custom photos you have a custom text and these are all the links that I decided that.
I want on there so there's more to see so when I click on one of these it goes straight to my profile now if you tap this onto a phone that not yours there's actually a contact option that shows up so you have all those links andeverything. but it also gives you an option to import all that information straight into your contact so.
let's say you are somewhere at a convention and someone has a phone and chances are almost everybody has a phone. but basically take a your car you tap it on the phone and see the notification a tap on it and the person receiving this can then decide.
I'm going to say yes and import your information into my contacts and then you have everything on there that you want to do so it's not just oh it gives me my bank information and all that's up so you decide. What the person will receive so you can change this depending on the convention you can change your folder like I said but let's check out on the side.
I can show you the details so if I go on there this is what I wanted to show so I have my Instagram Twitter Facebook LinkedIn YouTube PayPal in case someone wants to give you money website and even emails right so pop that up you got my personal email here is my Twitter account sponge Ella that I decided to have on there the LinkedIn my channel.
I PayPal my website which I definitely need to update going back here so when you go into edit profile so  I can go on here and I can change my profile photo so whatever.
I can change this and it's Star Wars and I can change it to that if I want there is not really a resizing option so you're gonna have to crop your photo so you have you know the right photo that you want on there obviously your name your email.
whatever text you want and I have emojis on there because I did that on my phone so you can edit this on the desktop or on your phone here I have my affiliate link which again is in the description you can have your address you can have phone numbers custom link.
whatever website you want if you're.SoundCloud Spotify Apple music what's a Pinterest there's all kinds of stuff so you can customize this too.
I just want to show you this is my name no address just my website my demo reel and maybe direct links to a YouTube clip where you can see my reel and that's  what I like about I like that you can really customize that information and you can change it.
Depending on where you're going with what kind of conference to whatever person you're showing this to it's a one-time fee it's not a subscription that keeps taking money out of your pocket every month it's kind of neat and a novelty I mean for now it depends.
How widespread this will be you can show this tap it on the phone the person gets information they have it on their phone they're not going to lose business card or we know put it somewhere in the trash right away so a lot of options and I think it's gotcha kind of near.
I saw it online it was an ad and ordered nothing it took a week or two camera i was pretty fast you get you card and then you get this give all the information you had a card in there you got your login that's your temporary password and everything you set things up and then there you go and I got that card and I can tap that on my phone boom boom boom boom four five six seven.
It's actually pretty good I'm really surprised again it works on the front and the back and there you go it's a regular sized business card so it fits in your wallet so I would say if you interested check out the links a description so you can see.
If your phone is compatible with it and a link to our website so you can go through all the details and there's a lot more information there I just want to do a quick review and show you what that is and it may or may not be helpful to you.
That's it for me as always thanks for watching thank you if you're still watching this till the very end and if you don't want to miss any of my uploads and reviews and rig reviews and all that stuff subscribe and hit that Bell button so you get all the vacations you know
The drill and thanks for watching I will see you in my next upload.

George Jacobs – “I’ll Be There” – Music Video Post
I dig the people out there like George Jacobs that make their music for altruistic purposes & the greater good of us all.  Reading about him from his main site, you can tell the man puts a ton of thought into his career from every angle…George has become an important artist/producer out there in this scene we share, opening up his internet pages to include videos, articles, music & more.  In short, he’s not just making music for himself, like so many do – he’s driven by a higher purpose & calling in creating his art.
Personally, I genuinely believe artists like George Jacobs are vital to the music scene in so many ways.  In the case of a song like his single “I’ll Be There” – listen to the stellar degree of crossover appeal in the sound will ya?  Part Electro-based…part Pop/R&B/Soul when the vocals become prevalent…and at its core, you’ll actually find that “I’ll Be There,” like all tunes created by George, is faith-based; right now there are a whole bunch of people out there that clicked play, and could have missed that last part.  To me, that’s a great thing – not simply because I’m outside of religion myself, but for the level of universal appeal a track like “I’ll Be There” has as a result.  If you’re looking for something undeniably smooth, yet equally dynamic & charismatic – “I’ll Be There” is gonna have no problem at all supplying that; and if you want to dive into it deeper on a faith-based level, it’s designed for you to get that much more out of it.  In any scenario, whether it’s a dedicated believer listening, a member of the religious community, or anyone outside of all that – we’re all bound to find something we’ll like or love in a track like “I’ll Be There” & form our own attachments to it in whichever way we choose to, because the writing, style, and sound allows for that potential.  The wider the net you cast, the wider the audience becomes – George opens the door for all of us to get a sample of his sonic versatility with “I’ll Be There,” and continues to give his music even more of an advantage by creating an eye-catching video to go along with it.  I think it’s seriously crucial to have artists out there in our scene that are capable of putting a new spin on the faith-based sound…George could very well be a major part of what pushes the whole genre forward.

31 July - Weekly Blog
Remember a long time ago when I made that Jahlon On Video about only having 86,400 seconds a day and you have to spend each one like it's the most precious commodity (because it is)?
Ok, so I’m going to pretend like you don’t remember that video. So first and foremost that video is here:
youtube
Secondly, I will get back to making Jahlon On content.
Third, the reason why my content has been all over the place is because I have too many irons in the fire. Which is sometimes a good thing, but other times a bad thing. Sometimes you need to focus on one thing at a time, and getting enough of PGN Music’s files done to open the Spotify Channel was a big part of what I was working on. The channel is now officially open and you can check that out here:
https://open.spotify.com/artist/4qZWTa2bhoPr2AOsANBazT
So, if you like Jazz or Epic Orchestra Music, give it a listen. In fact, do more than that, share it with your groups, your guilds, your favorite creators (the music is DMCA Free). Next up is some Celtic Tavern Music. That’s going to be a treat.
With that said, now I can get back to working on things on a more cyclical basis, and one of those things is the monthly blog. I didn’t realize it's been two months since I wrote a blog entry. Sometimes I think the blog is a waste, but other people have told me they have missed it, so if it brings some joy to just a few people then it is certainly worth doing, since it also acts as a milestone marker for me as to what I’ve accomplished on a week to week basis.
Ashes of Creation
For those of you who have been watching Ashes of Creation’s development over the past few years, we actually managed to hit a major milestone while I’ve been preoccupied. Alpha 1 has been going for about three-weeks now and it has been a major success. Now, keep in mind that when you talk about the success of an Alpha you have to realize that it is not a finished product. An Alpha (especially a Western Alpha) is meant to be a testing ground to ensure different parts of things actually work.
I’ve had a lot of fun testing the game with the Paradox Community and we’ve had quite a few people both join us for testing and sign up for Ashes and help support the Network.
For anyone looking for the July Update for Ashes that is here:
youtube
And some in-game footage can be found here:
youtube
If you are just learning about Ashes of Creation and you have not made your account yet, please consider using this referral link: https://ashesofcreation.com/r/DE3PDNGIRSPVK7Q4 Costs you absolutely nothing to use, but it helps financially support the Paradox Gaming Network so I have money to do things like giveaways for subscription time when Ashes launches.
Fractured
Another game that we cover as a guild is the game Fractured. Fractured had some problems earlier this year with their Spring Alpha, mainly getting the siege mechanic out in a timely fashion. They sort of missed their window of opportunity; however, it looks like in the second half of September there is going to be another round of testing. If you want to check out what they have planned for a fall, check out their Roadmap to the Fall Alpha 2021 article.
https://fracturedmmo.com/roadmap-to-fall-alpha-2021/
They have made a ton of changes including changes to enchanting (now called imbuing), Enchanting (which is now something new) new abilities (including NECROMANCY!!!!!), and changes to the PvP rules, drop rules, etc.
If you missed my coverage of Fractured Earlier this year you can check out this video to get caught up on this Isometric Downward looking open world MMOARPG.
youtube
If you know anyone who is going to be buying into Fractured Testing, remind them that Code JAHLON or Code PARADOX will save them 10% at checkout.
On a special note, I will always be thankful to Dynamight Studios for setting me up with my first ever community discount code.
Elyon
Launching on 29 September is Elyon, and that makes for a special birthday present for me! If you missed my coverage of Elyon Earlier this year you can check it out here
youtube
Now, The Team at Elyon has done their very best to make sure there is no P2W. Sadly, however; they ended up offering up to a 3 day head start in the founder’s packages. This hasn’t endeared them to the player base who was counting on them to not have any P2W, and a lot of players see a three-day head start as major P2W.
I plan on covering the P2W vs Head Start issue when Closed Beta 2 Starts. Be on the lookout for some of that.
Steampunk Dreams
As I said earlier, all of Steampunk Dreams is finished, at least the music side of it. I only have 6 of the 20 songs on YouTube, but that’s because I’m waiting on the money to be able to pay the artists to cover art. The good news is that now that I’m on Spotify it opens up another avenue of zero cost income for the Paradox Gaming Network. Hopefully we can eventually get the songs to start to be utilized so they can generate their own income stream, which will then allow us to make more music, pay for more art, do more Stream Alerts and Emotes.

Fiction Reading Material
Another thing that has kept me busy and away from you guys is that I’m reading a lot again. Thanks to a great recommendation I’m reading the Belgariad series. I’m actually on the first book of the second series, but we can’t get ahead of ourselves.
Tumblr media
If you like Fantasy Fiction (Magic) you might want to check out this book by David Eddings.
**Yes this is an Amazon affiliate link, and I do get compensated if you purchase it through my link. That’s another one of those zero cost income things**
https://amzn.to/2WI2lqv
Non Fiction Reading Material
For your professional development this week I recommend Leading Change by John Knotter. This is a change management meets leadership book. It's been a few years since I made my way through his 2 part series. Expect a Jahlon On on this book series sometime in the future. No promises for immediate fulfillment.

Epic Games - Free Game of the Week
I know some of you are going to say you hate EGS and you’d never use it. That’s fine. If you REALLY hate them, claim all the free games they give away and never spend a dime there.
This week they have Mothergunship and Train Sim World 2 for Free.
MOTHERGUNSHIP is a bullet-hell FPS where you craft your own guns, fight huge bosses, and defeat a robotic alien armada that conquered Earth. Face off against overwhelming odds in brutal, non-stop combats where thinking on your feet is the only way to survive.
The evolution of train simulation! Master iconic locomotives on high-speed services, long freight hauls or precise commuter traffic, and get creative with customization tools in this advanced sequel. Climb into the cab in Train Sim World 2.
So, I mean if you are bored, and looking for SOMETHING you can get something to keep you entertained, and on the off chance you do make a purchase from EGS, if you don't’ already have a favorite creator, then use Code JAHLON27. Won’t save you anything, but it's another one of those zero cost income things.
Content Creation Advice
I hope to do a few more Content Creation Advice pieces here soon™ but if you are a creator and you need help you can hit me up on Discord at Jahlon#0001

Media Tracker
I tracked my media usage for all day on Thursday, March 4. I was using a range of media for a total of 11 hours.
In the early morning (7ish), I opened up YouTube and watched about 10 minutes of videos, because it helps me get adjusted to waking up and it helps me calm down. That morning I also woke up a bit earlier and was not as tired as I thought, so I watched videos to help quietly pass time as the rest of my family was waking up. As I was using it, I felt bored, so I tried to use videos as a means to help soothe that boredom.
Tumblr media
Later on (so about 8ish), I was still on YouTube but then transitioned onto Tik Tok, and I spent a good hour and a half on it, watching videos my friends sent to me and watching anything that was recommended to me. I was on Tik Tok because again, I was bored because I was both neglecting my homework over break and also just bored, so at least I could pass the time by watching videos and laughing.
Tumblr media
Around lunchtime, I was making some food while I was listening to music and videos on YouTube for around two hours, as it helps keeping my brain focused if I have as much background noise as possible. During this time, I decided to hop back onto Tik Tok for about 30 minutes, as I like to watch things while I am eating. During this time, I felt bored again and I had felt a bit sad because of personal issues, so this helped me a ton.
Tumblr media
I was watching a video on the missing 411
Later on (3-4PM), I went on a hunt for a specific meme I had on my phone, but got distracted by a ton of videos I had saved to it so I ended up watching videos I had saved for about 20 minutes. I was texting my friend (which ended up lasting for about 11 minutes) the image, which made me feel a bit happy, since it was a rather funny conversation. Watching the videos made me feel also really happy since they were pretty funny videos.
Tumblr media
I then started reading random articles on Wikipedia, which took up around an hour of time (5-6), since I love to go down Wikipedia rabbit holes and either do a deep dive on a topic or just end up from some random place to another (like Jennifer Lawrence to pineapples). I wanted to do this because I wanted to for a while and I decided now would be a good time since I had nothing else planned for that day. I started looking up the different Greek Gods and Titans because I am in love with Greek mythology and wanted to learn more. I was feeling a mix of boredom in my search as I was sort of skimming through some articles but I also felt a sense of intrigue when I found more to learn about and see more links to click on.
Tumblr media
Dionysus with his cult of female followers the Maenads
In the late afternoon (or night I never knew the distinction) around 7,  I decided to play Hades on my Switch so I did that for a good 3.5 hours. Video games are my primary means of entertainment, and because I recently got this game and was very interested in the game, I started playing and time flew by. Whilst I was playing, I took a break for 20 minutes to go onto my phone and look at some of the strategies of the game and text my friends. Then for the last hour I pulled out Spotify and listened to music while I was playing, which both helps me get through some stressful/tedious parts and also is just fun for me to do. Playing made me feel overall really happy and satisfied, especially since I made major progress through the game and it is just a fun game to play. Afterward however my head hurt because there was a lot to process for my smooth brain and my TV emphasized the very bright colors in the game (and probably because I stared at screens for basically the entire day).
Tumblr media
Hades (2018)
Oops another piece of media that involves Greek mythology I cannot be stopped
I was in my bed afterward and I usually listen to soft music or long YouTube videos to help me go to sleep, so I was in bed listening to music on YouTube for 2 hours until I fell asleep at 11. While I was falling asleep, I felt really calm because of the music but I also was feeling a bit anxious because I was wondering when the next ad would come up so I could skip it. But for the majority of the time, I felt really calm and the music helped a lot with me going to sleep at a more reasonable time than usual.

I was mainly listening to Glass Animals, this is their lead singer David Bayley

Day 23: Revangelion - Brian Altano
Tumblr media
Album Art by Peter Santa-Maria aka Attack Peter (Instagram)
So, I missed a day, which I feel terrible about. But I’m not going to beat myself up for it. Besides, a 22-day streak is pretty good considering any other project I’ve attempted in a past while, so I’m just going to look on the bright side!
Also, I decided I ought to try and give back to creators who have been an inspiration to me in some way. So, today I won’t be doing a game review (or whatever you call my blurbs). Instead, I’m going to review an album.
Revangelion by Brian Altano (twitter / Instagram)
               Links to the album:
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5BLMVGrMcrXRqkoYbfLKN3?si=E9xvEVxAQuK-1XwFVdlmDA
Bandcamp: https://brianaltano.bandcamp.com/album/revangelion
Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/revangelion/1488246898
YouTube: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ofWq2gGp7aU&list=PLMEpSV0C5Xcux9MmVg2i1tRApmpEiAUko
Admittedly, I have no musical background; no music theory or refined taste, the most I can do on an instrument is the first 4 notes of the Independence Day Movie theme song on a piano. However, I do have a ton of time to myself, a Spotify premium account and an aversion to silence. Basically, I am always listening to music or podcasts, and I always make it a point to sit down and listen to a new album in one session and reflect on it.
The Art of an Album
I have a test for what makes a baseline good album for me. If on my first time listening to it, I don’t skip a single track or tune out, it means I liked the album. So often it seems that albums, vocal or instrumental, come out and it seems like a mishmash of tracks with little consistency. I don’t mean that every track must sound “the same”, but they ought to have a style or story from start to end. It’s jarring to hear a couple tracks and get into a trance and then taken out of it by something that doesn’t quite fit in.
I do not have any proof, but I feel that Brian Altano also has an appreciation for an album as a whole and not necessarily it’s individual tracks. I am not going to begin to try and understand any sort of hidden messages or the story that Brian was telling through the album, but I could tell there as a consistent style from track to track. Of course, the album title is based on Evangelion, a show that explores all types of stories and human emotions. It could be that this album was a summation of Brian’s thoughts or feelings (and not opinions, but the emotion associated with the show) on the series in music form. But I’d like to believe it’s different than that. A mixture of however the show imprinted its emotions on him and whatever he was experience in his own life.
Now, if you want my thoughts on individual tracks, I can quickly go over them and what I was feeling. For me, it was like an album for my commute to work. A Cruel Angel’s Thesis begins as the garage door opens and the sun blinds me. Nerv played as I dealt with the unpredictable (and oddly dangerous) inner city traffic, and the track has an almost “ready? Fight!” tone to it. As I get onto the highway and the drive is predictable, I tend to get very introspective. I nod my head to A Crystalline Night Sky and Rei Ayanami feeling a weird mix of nostalgia and questioning my own life. Hedgehog’s Dilemna is to me, the most intriguing one, since the title is something I’ve known about because of my interest in psychology. Finally, Tokyo-3 and Fly Me to the Moon are the cooldown tracks as I get into work. It leaves me feeling hopeful for some reason (even though almost no episode of Evangelion ended with any resemblance of hope).
In Conclusion...
To be honest, it feels a little strange to try and recommend an album based off emotion itself. This album has sounds inspired by Evangelion, but there’s no voice clips or anything that would spoil the show if you haven’t seen it. If anything, it may push you to watch it if you have not seen it already.
If you do listen to the album, please reach out to me and let me know what you think, and of course let Brian know as he is very receptive to critical feedback. I find it particularly interesting to hear what goes through people’s heads as they listen to instrumental albums, as it is emotion based off sounds and not words. But if you want to add a little something to your commute, or something to bop to while working on your own personal project, check out Revangelion.
-----
If you’re interested in Brian Altano’s work, you can find him at IGN doing shows like Up at Noon (a hilarious comedy variety show covering all sorts of geeky stuff) and Fast Travel (a travel series that covers gaming life in parts of the world often not covered). He’s also part of one of my favourite podcasts of all time, The Comedy Button, a show that I can’t describe other than 4-5 good friends talk about things like horses and fast food. It’s great, trust me.

12 ways to make the most money from your music this holiday season
The 12 ways of Christmas (music promotion).
Can you believe it? The holidays are upon us, which is good news for your music.
A huge percentage of the industry’s annual music sales take place in the last six weeks of the year. The same is true for CD and vinyl sales.
Get prepped now to make sure you’re ready for the rush!
The holidays are when people are searching for and buying new music, creating and enjoying Christmas-themed playlists on streaming platforms like Spotify, spending gift cards, and buying musical presents for friends. Your fans are also unwrapping smartphones, tablets, and voice assistants like Alexa — and they’re eager to access the music they love on those new devices.
Make sure you give your music every opportunity to get seen, heard, and purchased!
Want to earn more money from your music during the holidays? Try a few (or all) of the suggestions below:
1. Go full-distribution
If fans can’t find your music, they can’t buy it, add it to playlists, or share it from their platform of choice.
Platforms like Soundcloud and Bandcamp are amazing, but they’re not really “distribution.”
You have to go wide and make music available EVERYWHERE that matters.
And important as they are, it’s also not all about Spotify and Apple Music. Got listeners in China? Your music should be there. Got listeners in Latin America? Be sure you’re on Deezer.
It’s 2019. You can’t afford NOT to be everywhere your fans are. Make it easy for them!
Do you have any music that’s not available on popular digital platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Pandora, YouTube, and more? You could easily be missing out on streams and sales.
Get worldwide music distribution
2. Email your fans
Social media is fine, but it’s no substitute for an email newsletter delivered straight to the inboxes of your most loyal fans.
Suggest gift ideas, like t-shirts, mugs, or other merch items.
If you have holiday music, ask them to add it to their seasonal playlists.
Share a Christmas greeting video; write a 2019 retrospective; or just say thanks!
To learn how to create an email newsletter that will drive more engagement and boost sales this Holiday Season, check out “5 tips for sending better holiday emails.”
3. Look for holiday gigs in non-traditional venues
Concert opportunities abound during Christmas. People are out and about, so a little music in an unusual place can be a festive surprise, even if you’re not playing holiday music exclusively (always good to sprinkle in a few Christmas carols or holiday favorites though).
Here are some non-traditional venue suggestions you can investigate in your area:
Malls and shopping centers
Airports
Movie theaters
Gift shops
Big box stores
Community events
Office parties
Churches
New Year’s Eve parties
City square
Skating rinks
Tree-lighting ceremonies
4. Make a holiday playlist on Spotify and add your music
It’s easy to make playlists on Spotify. If you have holiday-themed music, make a playlist of Christmas music and add one or two of your tracks. Then be sure to share it with your fans!
If you don’t have holiday music, you can still create a themed playlist based around your “gift list” (music from artists whose CDs or vinyl you’ll be giving as gifts) or your “wish list,” or an end-of-year recap: “My favorite songs of 2019.”
5. Run a limited-time Christmas sale
Tell your fans that during the holidays you’ll be selling your CDs, downloads, and vinyl on CD Baby at a reduced cost. Then just go back into your account and raise the price after the holidays.
Bundle your merch at gigs as a special holiday package where fans get 3 or more items (2 CDs and a t-shirt, for instance) at a discount.
Start this around Black Friday, because people are primed to pounce on discounts right after Thanksgiving.
6. Link to your merch or music store from your website
This one’s big. If you’re not giving your fans a way to hear and purchase your music from your website, you’re definitely missing out on sales. Before the holidays arrive, be sure it’s clear on your website HOW fans can buy merch.
If you have an embeddable store (through something like Shopify) or a built-in e-commerce feature on your website (like with Bandzoogle), USE IT!
7. Stock up so your customers don’t have their holiday gifts waiting on backorder
Make sure you have enough stock of merch items like shirts, mugs, CDs, or vinyl to meet demand. Just need a few CDs printed up? Check out trapLA’s short run duplication service and order as many or few discs as you like.
8. Send holiday postcards
If you’ve saved the mailing addresses for your fans in Mailchimp, a spreadsheet, or elsewhere, make a list, check it twice, and send out some postcard greetings and make your listeners feel nice. Yes, this is an expense to you with no guarantee of a return. But if you find a way in your holiday greeting to share info about new music or merch deals, you could see a return. Worse case scenario, your fans appreciate you a bit more.
9. Reach new fans by recording a holiday single
Choose a Christmas classic, record it quickly, and make the process FUN (in other words, don’t stress too much about the production value). Then you can distribute the song to places like Spotify, where millions of people will be listening to or creating Holiday playlists.
Not sure which Christmas tunes you can cover without paying a royalty? Download our free guide listing popular holiday songs that are in the Public Domain (and those that aren’t).
10. Don’t forget about YouTube revenue
Make sure your entire catalog is opted in to make money from YouTube. Then, get your fans to make videos using your music to drive extra revenue. The Christmas season is when a ton of cash gets spent on YouTube advertising! Seriously, HUGE amounts of cash. Many advertisers spend the bulk of their annual budget in the last 6 weeks of the year on YouTube. If you’re monetized and earning ad revenue on YouTube, you’ll earn more during the holidays.
For more info, see our 6 Ways to Earn More Money from Your Music on YouTube This Holiday Season.
11. Offer a Free Track
Allow fans and prospective fans the chance to download a song for free as an enticement to purchase the whole album. If they like what they hear, they’ll come back for more.
12. Advertise on the biggest music platforms and websites in the world
Billboard. Pitchfork. MTV. RollingStone.
Your banner ads can run on those sites for an incredibly low rate compared to industry standards. You can also run 30-second audio ads on streaming platforms like Spotify for an extremely low minimum budget.
How? Show.co’s Ad Builder tool. Here’s how to get your message in front of diehard music fans in the places they already go to find new artists.
Things get crazy around the holidays, so don’t feel like you need to do everything on this list. Addressing even a few of these items should help you increase your music sales towards the end of 2019!

12 ways to make the most money from your music this holiday season
The 12 ways of Christmas (music promotion).
Can you believe it? The holidays are almost upon us, which is good news for your music.
20% of industry-wide music sales take place in the last six weeks of the year, and 30% of all sales on CD Baby happen during that same period.
Get prepped now to make sure you’re ready for the rush!
The holidays are when people are searching for and buying new music, creating and enjoying Christmas-themed playlists on streaming platforms like Spotify, spending gift cards, and buying musical presents for friends. Your fans are also unwrapping smartphones and tablets and eager to access the music they love on those new devices.
It’s 2018 — you can’t afford NOT to be everywhere your fans are. Make it easy for them!
Do you have any music that’s not available on popular digital platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Pandora, YouTube, and more? You could easily be missing out on streams and sales.
Get worldwide music distribution today.
Share a Christmas greeting video; write a 2018 retrospective; or just say thanks!
4. Make a holiday playlist on Spotify and add your music
It’s easy to make playlists on Spotify. If you have holiday-themed music, make a playlist of Christmas music and add one or two of your tracks. Then be sure to share it with your fans! Here’s one I made:
If you don’t have holiday music, you can still create a themed playlist based around your “gift list” (music from artists whose CDs or vinyl you’ll be giving as gifts) or your “wish list,” or an end-of-year recap: “My favorite songs of 2018.”
5. Run a limited-time Christmas sale
Tell your fans that during the holidays you’ll be selling your CDs, downloads, and vinyl on CD Baby at a reduced cost. Then just go back into your account and raise the price after the holidays.
You can also use our quantity-discount feature to encourage 2-for-1 deals on CDBaby.com, or even bundle your merch at gigs as a special holiday package where fans get 3 or more items (2 CDs and a t-shirt, for instance) at a discount.
Start this around Black Friday, because people are primed to pounce on discounts right after Thanksgiving.
6. Put your music (and a music store) on your website
This one’s big. If you’re not giving your fans a way to hear and purchase your music from your website, you’re definitely missing out on sales. Before the holidays arrive, embed one of CD Baby’s Music Players on your site. It links right to your music on CD Baby for purchase!
7. Stock up so your customers don’t have their holiday gifts waiting on backorder
Make sure you have enough stock of CDs and vinyl to meet demand. Just need a few CDs printed up? Check out CD Baby’s short run duplication service and order as many or few discs as you like.
8. Order download cards for stocking stuffers
Download cards make great gifts: they’re small, light, and come customized with your album art. Plus, you can use them to promote your music well beyond the holidays.
9. Reach new fans by recording a holiday single
Choose a Christmas classic, record it quickly, and make the process FUN (in other words, don’t stress too much about the production value). Then you can distribute the song to places like Spotify, where millions of people will be listening to or creating Holiday playlists.
Or just upload it for FREE and start selling/streaming it on CDBaby.com and through our Music Player.
Not sure which Christmas tunes you can cover without paying a royalty? Download our free guide listing popular holiday songs that are in the Public Domain (and those that aren’t).
10. Don’t forget about YouTube revenue

11. Offer a Free Track
Allow fans and prospective fans the chance to download a song on CDBaby.com for free as an enticement to purchase the whole album. If they like what they hear, they’ll come back for more.
12. Claim your band URL and make a website
If you’re not giving fans a one-stop hub for everything about you and your music, there’s never been a better time. Secure your band’s website address, build a stunning site, and know that you’re putting your best foot forward! Try out HostBaby free for 30 days!
Things get crazy around the holidays, so don’t feel like you need to do everything on this list. Addressing even a few of these items should help you increase your music sales towards the end of 2018!
If you have ideas to add to the list, let us know in the comments below.

Top 40: Quarter 1, 2018
I've been once again perusing this Top 40 playlist system since the beginning of the year, but the rules for it is different than the one I introduced here a year ago. It’s a bit to explain how it all works, but I’ll try the best I can.
I also keep another series of playlists broken up by quarters where it simply acts as a place to dump any cool new songs I want on my phone. But for the sake of freeing up space at all times, I only allow myself to keep two quarters worth: the current one, where I am actively dumping the new stuff, and the previous quarter now closed and archived. Of course, there are still tons of songs in the quarter playlist I still think is good but now have to remove off my phone because a new quarter is rolling around, so I transfer those potential keepers to this Top 40 playlist here as a way to preserve it just a little longer.
The most recent update to this playlist was made in June, when I had to remove the quarter 1 playlist, made up finds from December to February. (Explaining why this particular span of months is going to be another long explanation so just bare with me here.) The end of August will prompt another edit because I have to remove the quarter 2 playlist, so I wanted to log it before I make a huge change to it.
Here is a Spotify playlist, if you want to check out the music. I included YouTube links to songs not available on Spotify so you can still listen to it somehow. The full “Top 40″ chart is below. Yes, it is ranked according to how much I like it.

10 best Google Home apps Google Home is one of a few smart platforms out there. It’s also one of the better ones. There are three Google Home devices to choose from with the Google Home, Google Home Mini, and Google Home Max. Of course, you also want them to do everything you need them to do. Hopefully this list helps. We chose apps for a couple of reasons. The first is native support. All of these apps should work perfectly on any Google Home device. The second is phone support. Thus, you can use these apps on both the Google Home and your smartphone for a more seamless experience. Let’s check out the best Google Home apps available right now. Just below, we also have a list of all the stuff that Google Home can do! We also highly recommend checking out this list of Google’s smart home partners. Here are some more amazing things that Google Home can do! The complete list of services with Google Home support (Updated) Google Home is supposed to be the central hub for all your connected devices. Whether you're looking for an easy way to turn on your connected lights via voice command or play the latest season … Google Home commands – a comprehensive guide to them all! So you just got your new Google Home, and now you're probably wondering what to do with it. From controlling your connected lights to getting information about your favorite actor, Google Home, powered by the … AutoVoice Price: Free / Up to $2.99 DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY AutoVoice is one of the more complex Google Home apps. It lets you program your own voice commands on Google Home, Google Now, and Google Assistant. It also supports Amazon Alexa. This lets you do all kinds of fun stuff. However, its Tasker support is the main draw. That lets you create vastly more complex and personalized commands for your Google Home. That does involve a deep learning curve, though. In any case, the app has a free trial and a simpler free version. The full version comes with all of the features. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Google Play Music, Spotify, TuneIn Radio, iHeartRadio Price: Free / Varies (usually around $9.99 per month) DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY There are a variety of music apps with Google Home support. However, these four (Spotify, Google Play Music, TuneIn Radio, and iHeartRadio) are probably the best. Spotify and Google Play Music focus mostly on playlists, on-demand content, and extra stuff like podcasts. iHeartRadio and TuneIn radio are mostly for things like radio stations, playlists, and talk radio. All of them work extremely well with Google Home devices as well as Google Assistant. Additionally, these four also have fewer regional restrictions than other Google Home apps with music. They all have free versions with subscriptions for more music content. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY IFTTT Price: Free DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY IFTTT is a must for any Google Home apps list. It lets you create custom commands on Google Assistant and Google Home. There aren't a whole ton of restrictions on what IFTTT can do. You can use it to automate tasks with Google Home, add some functionality that isn't already there, and more. Google even posted some IFTTT recipes on IFTTT's site for Google Home and Google Assistant users. That's about as good as praise gets. IFTTT is completely free with no in-app purchases or ads. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Netflix and YouTube Price: Free / Up to $14.99 per month DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Netflix and YouTube represent your best options for video streaming on Google Home devices. There are a few more options like Viki, CBS (via its All Access app), and CW. However, none of those have the width or breadth of content that Netflix and YouTube does. YouTube TV is also an excellent option, but only if you're in the United States. Both apps have direct support for the Google Home and Assistant platform. That means you can simply ask it to stream shows or videos you want. Netflix starts at $7.99 per month and ranges up to $13.99 per month. YouTube is free, but it also has optional subscriptions for $9.99 per month and $14.99 per month (family plan that includes Google Play Music). DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Philips Hue or LIFX Price: Free (hardware costs money) DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Philips Hue and LIFX are two smart light makers. Their lights are arguably the best options when it comes to smart lighting in your home. Their Google Home integration is top notch as well. In fact, many use one of these two to show off Google Home commands in YouTube videos. Smart lights are a fun way to start a smart phone project. There are other lighting hardware companies like Nanoleaf and others that also work with Google Home. However, we found Philips Hue and LIFX to be the most accessible among them. At least in the United States. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY We have some more excellent app lists you might find useful! 15 best Android apps of 2018! Here it is ladies and gentlemen. The crème de la crème. The Android apps that stand alone at the top of the pantheon. These apps have become ubiquitous with Android and if you're looking for … 10 best to do list apps for Android Staying organized is one of the toughest things to do. Everything in your life requires at least some kind of organization and it's also something you have to do and keep track of every day. … Todoist Price: Free / $28.99 per year DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Todoist is easily one of the better Google Home apps. It has direct integration with Google Home devices and Google Assistant. Additionally, it also has a Google Chrome extension (covers most other platforms), an Android app, an iOS app, and a Microsoft Windows app. That gives it a noticeable advantage against other to-do list apps in this space. The free version allows for up to 80 active projects, collaboration features, and organizational features. The pro version adds stuff like reminders, task labels, and more. We're not crazy about reminders being a premium only feature. However, everything else about Todoist is basically perfect. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY WebMD Price: Free DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY WebMD is a bit of a surprise when it comes to Google Home apps. We obviously don't recommend it for self-diagnosis of serious conditions. However, the Google Home functionality includes things like treatments for basic stuff like the flu, medication interactions, and other such things that might actually be helpful. You can, of course, put in your symptoms and see if anything pops up. However, we'll never not recommend a doctor for that sort of thing. In any case, those who frequently take medications or get sick a lot may find this one useful. It's also a free app. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Basically any Google app Price: Free (usually) DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Here we have the obligatory nod to Google's own apps. Most of them work on Google Home, including Google Keep, Google Calendar, Gmail, Maps, and many others. Frankly, until these smart speakers become more ubiquitous, we recommend sticking to the platform's native stuff whenever possible. In other words, you should probably just use Google Calendar, Gmail, Maps, etc because there aren't a ton of competitors in this space for smart speakers, yet. Additionally, competitors that do work in this space simply don't do it as well as Google's apps, yet. In any case, most of Google's apps are free and relatively easy to use. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Nest Price: Free (hardware costs money) DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY There are tons of smart home hardware that works with Google Home. However, Nest is owned by Google. Their stuff just seems to work a little better with slightly tighter integration. Nest sells hardware like smart thermostats, doorbells, alarm systems, smoke and CO detectors, and even security cameras. There are other options for basically all of those things. We linked to Google's list of supported hardware products back in the first paragraph. However, much like Google apps, Nest works rather well with Google Home specifically. We recommend looking into it at least. Also, no, this list is not sponsored by Nest. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Google Home only apps Price: Free DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY This list contains a bunch of Google Home apps that also work with Google Assistant on mobile devices. However, there are some Google Home apps that only work on Google Home and not on mobile. We dislike that gap in features between platforms, despite them both being powered by the same thing. However, that doesn't mean that these apps don't work well. Some examples include Uber to hail a ride, Domino's lets you order pizza, and there are a variety of others. DOWNLOAD ON GOOGLE PLAY Thank you for reading! Here are some final recommendations for you! 10 best personal assistant apps for Android Personal Assistant apps have been around for a while. However, it wasn't until Siri that they became a really big deal. We now have tons of options in the space, including offerings from Google, Microsoft, … 10 best Philips Hue apps for Android Philips Hue was one of the first truly mainstream smart lights.
