Yeah, I think it is possible. It might be more likely, yeah. I think we’ve all left it so that it’s not a full stop, it’s just a big ellipsis or a big pause. Maybe it’s because we don’t want to say, ‘Oh, it’s a full stop.’ I’m not sure. To be honest, I’m a big believer in not going past your sell by date, in anything, really. Don’t outstay your welcome. So, I suppose we would have to see if we have outstayed our welcome, when the time comes, and whether people have moved on to something else. So, I don’t know. I really liked doing it. I’m very proud of the show. It’s one of the best written things I’ve done. It’s one of the best directed things I’ve done. I really enjoy doing it, but I don’t know. It’s been awhile now. It’s four years since a new one was on. So, yeah, maybe the more likely thing is a one-off.

S4 but how?

Do you think Ben and Martin were kept in the dark about what S4 is all about? I mean, come on, when they read the scripts they must've gone "This doesn't make any sense!" and Steven and Mark going "We have a plan but we need you to not know that, we want an unbiased portrayal of John and Sherlock in these situations".

Or is it like Ben and Martin know everything because everything was already laid out in the script, it's just us - the audience, are not supposed to know?

Everyone in the cast and crew knew that after S4 they were not going to make another one soon, like a gap of at least 4 years. That was planned. Mark and Steven had plotted out S4 and S5 at the same time as per this article. Because S4 cannot stand on its own, it needs an S5. Because S4 on its own is like a random nightmare of a person under the influence of drugs.

S4 seems like Sherlock is making up a story for the audience and wants them to think it's from John's POV, aka think like John, but his own persona and feelings are bleeding through.

Now, wouldn't that be a cocktail of filmy yet real, logical yet nonsensical, subtle yet dramatic, romantic yet tragic, hurtful yet tender, pure want yet denial, unconditional love yet unrequited.

John’s typing

Okay so this has always vexed me....

Lets just put out images of John typing through all of S1-S3

Hell, even Martin types this way...

BUT what do we see in S4 T6T???

This stupid scene :| John’s not putting enough pressure to even get the keyboard to type asfdfgdg

So we understand from all this that Martin was TOLD not to use John’s style of typing, to not follow his instinctive way of typing and do this tapping action that is alien to John’s character.

I read somewhere recently that in TAB John uses his right hand to take down notes because being left handed was frowned upon in the Victorian times. So the show runners do go into that much level of detailing. 

This is a blatant indication of something being very wrong with S4. Of course, not even talking about the JPG file, the fake blog entry..more here.

This actually supports the blog theory. Remember, how everyone suddenly forgot who John was and assumed that it was Sherlock’s blog in S4? John’s blog was mentioned numerous times in S4 but the actual blog was never updated after the TSo3. The last entry on the blog was updated by Sherlock and we did see him always on his phone in S4 and typing profusely.

All in all this drives me crazy sometimes...Moftiss better get down to business soooonnnn

I’m the worst person to ask on this because I never say never, obviously. But I don’t know. And I’m the worst person to ask because my slate’s pretty, pretty full at the moment, as is Martin [Freeman, Watson] and all the other key players involved. So, who knows? Maybe one day, if the script’s right. And I say ‘the script,’ maybe it could be a film rather than the series. Who knows? But anyway, not for now.

John’s hair in S4

Why is John’s hair in S4 so heavily styled using lots of product?

So many questions pop up in my head -

John suddenly decides he wants this hair gel/wax kinda look because? 

Maybe because he remembers Sherlock deducing “Jim from IT” as gay because of “product in his hair” and John wants Sherlock to notice?

It is all in Sherlock’s mind palace and he sees John this way (with product in his hair)?

It is all in John’s mind and he wants to see himself that way?

It was his way of communicating to Sherlock that things are not going well in his marriage and that he is not happy?

Everything is real and it is not in anyone’s mind and there is no apparent reason/subtext to his new hairdo? (I don’t think that there is no reason/subtext because the show makers have been VERY meticulous about  every detail on the show (including the background props) and the hairdo of one of the protagonists is not something that would heavily change and then not mean something)

During the period when S4 was being shot, Martin obviously kept his hair this way which is longer than his military cut short hair until S3.

But he did not keep it gelled/styled-like-S4John outside of S4 shoots, just kept it naturally flowy, which IMO looks better on him.

And for some apparent reason both Sherlock and John are made to look older and somehow tired in most of S4 - weirdly, it looks to be a conscious effort by the show runners because Ben and Martin actually look younger and fresh? in real life. I am not sure why it was chosen to portray them this way but yeah just wanted to put that out. It could be to show the internal turmoil and difficulties they both were going through. I compared S4 John and Sherlock with Ben and Martin below.

Also, not to forget TAB had both John’s and Sherlock’s hair styled with products ;)

So, yes it was a conscious effort to have John’s hair styled the way it was in S4.

Why? Only S5 time could tell us the exact reason...or Moftiss....

Describing Eurus as - from an early age due to her dog-murdering, fire-starting tendencies, incarcerated (?)

Calling Sherrinford Azkaban-ish (reference to a movie, more to come)

Showing a tweet which said Eurus looks like the girl from “The Ring” grown up (lol)

Calling Eurus-Moriarty moment as “weird erotic glass licking” (true btw)

Mocking the recordings Moriarty made for Eurus before he died (yes, I am the most dangerous man in London, a criminal mastermind, let me just say “ choo choo” for a video)

Eurus’ tasks called as “worst Crystal maze”  and “escap room” “SAW” in various tweets (presenter says “so much for not being a game anymore”, lol ikr)

Presenter forgets what the ship between Sherlock and Molly is called

Presenter apologising to “people’s flatmates (almost winks while he says that)” for the Molly Hooper ILY scene (wth)

Calling Musgrave hall “Skyfall” (seriously?)

Mocking the plot - “Eurus drowned the boy because he refused to play with her. I mean I really blame the parents.” (okay he is almost us now)

They know....they have to know it doesn’t make sense. Right?
