Ok so. Uh. I am starting to have a sneaking suspicion that my entire assumption behind Wagstaff's age might come with an asterisks

I wanna know the tma entity alignments O:!
not only are you getting that you’re also getting all my other notes on this. did you want them? no? too bad.
so we’ll start with the most obvious ones.
Wendy is for Terminus. Was she ever anything else? We don’t know. She’s the End, through and through; all else subsumes.
Abigail is also Terminus by this, on account of being dead.
Maxwell is Beholding, being pursued by the Dark, because
Charlie is, of course, an avatar of the Dark.
Wilson is also Beholding, and was recruited by Maxwell, and regrets all of it.
Webber was raised by the Mother of Puppets after making a deal to escape the Corruption. Hence the whole spider thing, but also the whole “never alone” rhetoric he’s got.
The Codex Umbra is a Leitner. Of course.
Some others that were a little more difficult but that I still decided on pretty firmly:
Willow was raised by a Desolation cult and escaped. As much as one can, anyway
Wigfrid is Slaughter-aligned, but really friendly with the Hunt.
Woodie is unaligned but particularly vulnerable to the Lonely
Wolfgang is Flesh
Wickerbottom is also Beholding
WX-78 was created by Nikola and is thus a part of the Stranger.
And the ones that were kind of shrug-emoji by the end:
Wes has dual custody with the Flesh and the Lonely
Wheeler is an avatar-in-training of the Vast
Walani is an Avatar of the Vast
Warly almost got eaten by the Lonely but escaped
Wagstaff thought he was Beholding-aligned but fell in love with an Avatar of the Dark (Charlie)
The way i see it there are a few ways to do this:
Fusion-style. The Magnus Institute becomes, idk, the Voxola Institute or something. Maxwell is the current head after the mysterious disappearance of the previous head along with Max’s girlfriend. Wilson is a very put upon Archivist. Everyone else is serving the Eye with varying degrees of happiness with the whole situation.
Pure canon crossover. Write up the events of 1906 to 1930s as statements that Jon is coming across.
Slightly less canon crossover. The statements are being taken in the modern day. In my head I’m calling this one The Facts in the Case of the Voxola Factory Fire, and it just kind of slowly reveals stuff about the factory fire, the disappearances, and what the entities are trying to do by creating a nightmare island exactly.
THE EYE: I have created an island of nightmares.
THE WEB: Fucked up a perfectly good scientist is what you did. Look at him, he’s got anxiety.
THE EYE: I have created an island of nightmares.
THE END: Why?
THE EYE: (Contemplative staring at the Island.)
Under the cut are some silly statement openings that I came up with for the third concept. This post is long enough.
“Statement of Maxwell Carter, regarding his experience with an Avatar of the Dark, yes, Mr. Sims, I know what I’m dealing with. Statement written directly by subject. Audio recording by Jonathan Sims, the Archivist. Statement begins.”
“Statement of Wendy Carter regarding the death of her twin sister and subsequent events.”
“Statement of, er….’Webber’, regarding a lifetime of spiders and his raising by a woman called Annabelle Cain.”
“Statement of Winona Grue regarding the Voxola factory fire and the disappearance of her sister.”
“…statement of Charlene Grue, regarding her boyfriend’s strange behavior after purchasing an old book. Statement originally taken [insert date before Charlie’s disappearance and the rest of the statements].”
“Statement of Abigail Carter, regarding…?” “Uh, just the whole being dead thing.” “Right. Statement of Abigail Carter, regarding the whole ‘being dead’ thing. Statement given directly by subject.”
“Statement of Susan Daniels, regarding her experiences in the titular role of the play ‘Wigfrid,’, never performed.”
“Statement of Robert Wagstaff regarding his ‘one true love’.”
“Statement of Albert Woods regarding the events following the death of his new wife.”
“Statement of ‘Willow’, no surname given, regarding her childhood in a cult and escape.”
