My latest review is of Ethan Yen and Kelly Tran's "Fetch My Blade!" I love the trope of dogs with swords, and I think this game does a great job of using the history of canine loyalty to create a game about unwavering devotion.

My first essay of the year is on Connie Chang's "Godkiller!" It's an intimate duet game in a long line of media about putting Gods to the sword. I took a brief look at the history of deicide, and how Chang worked those ideas into the text!

Stuff I do masterpost

Probably the biggest thing I do is run a Youtube channel that covers indie ttrpgs. Big focus on Asian designers and comparing games to other media.

I also write tabletop games! A lot of my work uses collaborative worldbuilding elements and interrogates themes of imperialism, but also I just love big stupid monsters.

I’m also a novelist/fiction writer. Actually got my start writing Monster Factory Fanfiction in 2017 (hence the blog name), but have since had a few short stories published!

I also do two podcasts! The first is Bible Boys, where me (an ex catholic) and my two friends Michael and Josh (ex evangelicals and current siblings) watch unhinged Christian media! The second is Mortified! The Friendship Quest, where me and my friend @leylses try to discuss a different media object and do pretty insightful analysis of what makes that object work or not.

My latest video is about my system-neutral setting, "Finley: A Midwest Fantasy." I'm moving out of the state I've lived in for 10 years, and I wanted to do something to commemorate this farewell. It's pretty personal, half-review, half-memoir, but I think it gets across my gratitude for my time here, as well as my heartbreak about living in a place that doesn't love you back.
