We really went from Rick suppressing a reaction to being called The Brave Man (104) to him explicitly saying he is not The Brave Man (104) to him questioning beng The Brave Man (105) to him explicitly calling himself The Brave Man (106). 🥹🥹
This is fine, I’m fine. -she said while sobbing 😭
YESSSS THAT GROWTH!!! IT MAKES ME UGLY CRY UGH IT’S SO GOOD😭
that simple moment of rick acknowledging and embracing his own legacy and his old self again was just the perfect moment. truly the only thing that makes me want a season 2 or at the very least to see rick on screen with his family again is to see him be that Brave Man again. because he’s certainly back, but it’s one thing to see him full Rick Grimes mode while taking down the CRM vs. to see him be that while back in Alexandria for the first time in years surrounded by the people he loves. this episode felt like such a fitting conclusion for the series which was primarily about richonne’s reunion and reconciliation as a couple + an escape, but now I selfishly want to see him in full swing with his kids around again! We did get him fully acknowledging his earned title of The Brave Man, but around his kids at first he was also (and very rightly so)… Nervous Man?? he’s obviously a little wary and the parenting dynamics will not establish themselves flawlessly by any means I imagine.
That being said, I just want to see Rick being the man we know and love, so that his kids can see The Brave Man in full swing and we get to see them act as a family unit in full power. Because if we thought richonne was unstoppable— oh honey, their kids make them quite literally a NUCLEAR family. rick’s homecoming was so emotional but also, he BUILT Alexandria. until he’s back there, and until he sees Carol, Maggie, Daryl, Gabriel, etc.— everyone he fought to protect— his homecoming isn’t over. but other than that aspect, his return to his family is utter perfection. he was never going to deny his title of Brave Man once he saw RJ in the flesh. that’s his son and he is going to spend the rest of his life living up to that!! that’s a fact!!
anyways yeah I’m right there with you in being emotional over it. he’s grown so much and healed so much to get to this place where he can be The Brave Man again. LONG LIVE THE GRIMES FAMILY 🥹

top five moments of 6x02 ♡
OMG I CAN ONLY PICK FIVE?? OK LET’S GO:
lie detector (tim’s ily) — I think this moment is my favourite part of the episode by far, because first off you have the question about the bugs which was SOOOO cute and so encapsulating of chenford’s relationship that it had me giggling at my tv and twirling my hair lol. but then lucy takes the time to seek out confirmation of his love out of her own will, not because she needed to be proven right but because she wanted to hear it 🥹 and he immediately says yes! he loves her! we finally get to hear it and the lie detector shows it’s true and it’s just so gratifying for chenford fans to finally get this
cop cutie! cute and on duty! — GUYS I KNOW IT’S CORNY BUT HATERS WILL HATE, DADDY COP IS A BANGER!! this was so funny and such an earworm— and to those saying they thought it was an old episode when it opened on that scene, lemme just say SAME lol— but then to up the ante by pulling out the choir as if literally singing for and rejoicing the 100th episode was just so perfect and classic rookie: a little hokey but well executed and fun and all around heartfelt. 10/10 I need it on spotify right now.
if I ain’t got you by alicia keys (lucy’s ily) — okay I’m scared some of you chenford girlies are going to tar and feather me for not putting this at number 1 or 2 but HEAR ME OUT: I’ve expressed my problems about this temporary argument solution!! I think this whole scene is so gorgeous for so so so many reasons: lucy and tim dancing as a couple for the first time, the matching outfits, the kiss, ugh all PERFECT I love my babies 🥹❤️ that being said, I don’t like how so much of the resolution/peace between them relied on tim being completely in the wrong when I feel like it’s a more nuanced issue than that and denies lucy any opportunity to critically reflect on her own feelings about this. and also, it does seem weird to me that she wouldn’t have said ‘I love you’ back to tim when he first said it?? they smile at each other but then they’re back to looking awkwardly from afar at the wedding (prior to this scene of course) and so I’m a bit uneasy at the implication (which the writers did not necessarily add on purpose) that lucy’s ily depended on him admitting he was wrong in any way. but idk maybe I’m just being too nitpicky here, I still ADOREEE THIS SCENE FOREVER AND EVER I want it on my grave k thanks
tim down on one knee — need I say more?? this imagery of him on his knee with the ring staring up at lucy was a glimpse at chenford’s future and it was such cute teasing, god I love writers and showrunners when they add messy fun little teaser moments like this! plus tim totally kicked ass, all covered in blood and ready to pass out, and ah, I do always say the best kind of lust is bloodlust 😌
bailan wedding vows — I actually cannot believe the day has come where a bailan moment is in my top 5 episode moments but these wedding vows showed me how the writers are finally able to articulate what works about them as a couple!! with someone as impressive and as versatile and skilled as bailey, I think literally any other man would feel threatened or emasculated, but nolan really is just Some Guy™️ who’s really into her and obsessed with her and is very sturdy ground for her to come home to. I wish we dove more into her past as a survivor of abuse because I feel like that previous situation informs so much of why she loves john even though, let’s be real: she’s eons above his league holy shit it’s not even funny how out of his league she is. but also she could never be with anyone else! she really just loves him and they have such a nice soft relationship which the wedding really sold me on. I liked it a lot even though I had my qualms about her and him as individuals and together.
honourable mention to wade and luna because I love them so much y’all they are adorable!! anyways, here’s my list and lmk if you agree

wait no then give me all of ur fav moments ♡
HAHA I LOVE U IVY ok well I only really have lke 4 honourable mentions
6. aaron and celina — granted, it is a trauma bond and aaron is misplacing his feelings/relying on her too much, but I see a lot of potential here. at the very least I still love their dynamic as friends and despite the awkwardness of that kiss (I mean yeesh!) I still just really enjoyed seeing them navigate their trauma together. they’re both the younger ones who are still figuring things out about themselves, and I really miss those days where we had our original trio and everything felt as fresh and new territory to them as it did to us viewers, and aaron and celina in this episode reminded me of that/those days.
7. luna’s mini confession to grey — I keep telling y’all I love them and I mean it!! they both have such soothing and kind voices and energies, and their marriage seems so solid and mature even in a storyline about her being silly and making a fake book club to hide something from him. he is her number one fan though and to see him encourage a lot of later in life exploration in her is awesome to see. she thinks she’s too rusty but that bike still pedals baby! graduating med school! (or whatever medical program it was)
8. shut up german — this line was crazy and just stick out in my mind, I laughed my hardest at this scene, honestly Richard T Jones has that skill for comedy I think. But if you’re a german rookie fan out there please tell me how you reacted to this, I’m dying to know 💀💀
9. flower boys — can we give a round of applause to the already slept on scene of the guys getting together to make the new floral arrangements for the wedding? I never thought I would see the day where tim bradford fusses with flowers and all the guys band together to make centerpieces look pretty as a bachelor party but here we are. I love this little dose of healthy masculinity, so gorgeous mwah

"WE ARE THE SAME HEIGTH!" Alex yells as he visibly and undeniably towers over Henry has got to be one of my favorite things about the movie's humor. What was yours?
OH MY GOD YES the height thing was always going to be funny with the casting because it’d be hard to cast two people who are like the exact same height but taylor is so clearly the taller one that it made the joke even funnier 💀
There’s so much genuine comedy to love in this movie so it’s hard me to pick one!! alex’s “are we gonna, like, listen to lana del rey while we do it” it definitely one of the top contenders for funny lines, also literally any of zahra’s scenes. but alex and henry’s interview will never not make me laugh, especially alex saying henry could do good freestyle raps because asking a white upperclass englishman to rap on television is actually insane and I’d kill myself if anyone ever tried embarrassing me like that oh my god LOL
(sidenote: everyone should give a round of applause for taylor’s comedic timing because he crushed it, and also nick’s too because he’s going to be in that new comedy Bottoms and he looks hilarious as his character in that. I think the comedy genre suits them both really well, not just the serious stuff which they also rock at, and it makes them versatile as actors!)

But also, consider: Stede proposes. Ed's the bridezilla.
Yesss that too, honestly the best thing about Gentlebeard is that it really could go either way!! As long as one of them just kidnaps their own guests and sees Absolutely No Problem with taking hostages at their gay wedding I’m a happy woman because the image of it SO GOLDEN it’s too good to pass up on and damn if it isn’t making me want to post more gentlebeard wedding headcanons….

Idk if this has already been discussed but I think the green matchbox that Sam gives Rebecca (and everyone else!) is a double blind—like, yes, it does have Rebecca being more inclined to believing Tish, but it is also at the same time a red herring for us! Because if we remember, Tish said the green matchbox was special. What’s special about these matchboxes that Sam gave out to literally everyone else at the restaurant that night? Like the only thing that could conceivably make it special to Rebecca is that it was Sam who gave it to her. Clue 1 that this is not the matchbox we’re supposed to be looking out for (but serves the purpose of making Rebecca more receptive to these predictions I guess). But! (And I guess I will say if my guess is right here, this might be a future spoiler? Lol) There is another small green object that we’ve seen Rebecca receive before, all the way back in episode 1. Did you know those little green soldiers that Ted has been giving out are often called matchbox soldiers? 👀👀👀
YESSSS I SAW SOMEONE MENTION THAT ON TWITTER! They matchbox army soldiers! Ugh that's too much of a coincidence too and Jason loves to add little red herrings (like the ted texting scene which was so cruelly misleading I fear Jason is going to hell for that lmao) so I wouldn't be surprised at all if that is what it pans out to be. The matchboxes from the restaurant weren't unique to Rebecca, you're right! There's not much special other than it was a nice night that the whole team spent together. So this misdirect seems very obvious but I'm so excited to see where it does lead because survey says? It leads to Ted. ;)

Right? Like he said it very clearly and we should have trusted him? But my kneejerk reaction was lmaoo yeah sure but still 😭😭😭
WE REALLY SHOULD HAVE like the amount that this man is delivering on his promises, how much he’s walking the walk not just talking the talk, is actually surreal and never before done. Which is probably why nobody believed it??? Or took it seriously??? Because we were like pfft okay sure, there’s something we’ve heard before. I don’t think anyone— ANYONEEEEE— was expecting this level of actual, concrete, explicitly romantic, promising content. So wild.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but just imagine this with me if you will:
Lucy announcing her pregnancy to Tim by boobytrapping their house (or his locker or car, whatever and wherever really) with baby booties and Tim just being so confused by it bc he's not in a new position....he's not a boot, so what's she playing at?
And then his face when he "gets it" 🥰😍🥰
YESSSS THIS IDEA!!!!! 😩 Like I’ve definitely seen it circulating before but never apologize for bringing it up in my inbox because this scenario is like cocaine for me oh my god I’m so obsessed with it and I absolutely need it to happen in canon. Way down the line though, like season 8 or something. But yeah, I giggle every time I think about Tim seeing the little boots and his brain buffers for a solid minute before he gets it. And I could also see Lucy bringing the pregnancy test anticipating that Tim might not get it right away, and it only clicking for him once she pulls it out which would honestly be even funnier.
And then when he gets it, ohhhhh the face! Just imagine Eric Winter pulling out his best acting chops just to show that gradual and flawless transition from utterly confused himbo to the look of realization and surprise, then to complete joy. Tim Bradford will be so excited and happy to be a dad, it’s what he deserves after all this time!!
I’d say we should manifest it by continuing to talk about it but I fear we may never be emotionally prepared for a scene like that lol.

This might be an unpopular question or opinion, but is Tim giving up a job he loves for his relationship with Lucy a good or romantic thing?
I love them but if I'm honest if Lucy or another woman decided to give up a job they love or switch to something else for their relationship I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be considered romantic or the right thing to do.
I think that’s a fair question because something like this could definitely lead to resentments down the road if not done properly. But honestly, it’s been a relationship trope in television for a while now. Take Ben and Leslie from Parks & Recreation, for example. Ben straight-up takes the hit and gets fired from his job (of being her boss) for Leslie, because he knew he loved her and so the job he had didn’t matter. And I don’t think people questioned it (though I wasn’t in the fandom when it aired so idk how it was received). Or think of Will from Criminal Minds who left his hometown— and his entire home state, even— to be with JJ. Think of Jonah from Superstore who was ready to move to California to be with Amy just because she got a job promotion, and who only stayed at a terrible job for years because of her, which holds a kind of equivalent. There’s just countless examples of characters (specifically male ones) prioritizing their relationship over their career. Even though it may not be realistic for real life relationships, I still find it to be generally romantic in nature I think especially because it’s men who are expected to be ambitious and career-driven above all else and so defying that tenet of like “masculinity” or that stereotype by not expecting the woman to have to put her career on hold is what I think people like to see. That’s just my take on it anyways!
Sorry, that was just a tangent on my thoughts about that trope in general. But to answer your question in regards to Chenford, I think in their case it is allowed to be romantic and good because we know it’s not going to be permanent?? Obviously Tim Bradford is not going to be at a desk job for the rest of his life. They’re already scheming to find him a new position and he’s a main character who’s too physical to ever be benched/sidelined like that for more than a few episodes. Like. It’s cable television. You know they are going to find some shiny new position that is somehow just the perfect setup for him to be in the field and yet not Lucy’s direct superior. They’ll make some miraculous solution. (Either that or they’ll have him come back to Sergeant and he and Lucy will have to face the music together which… ehhh I don’t think that’s in the cards.) To me, at least, this sacrifice is a very romantic gesture, but it’s also permitted to be so becauss there won’t be any long-term resentments due to the fact that… yeah. They’re not letting him rot at a desk. They’re going to come up with something somehow some way. It’s just how network television does it. 😅

Favourite thing about Chenford 🥰😍🥰
This is genuinely such a hard thing to answer like there’s so much to love about them!! BUT. If I had to pick something, I would say my favourite thing about them is how much they bring out the best qualities in each other??? Like, Tim is a man who lost his way. I’m fully convinced he was not always the way he was in season 1, but that Isabel and her addiction kind of sent him into this persona that felt familiar and comfortable. He just had so much happen to him that closing himself off and becoming a hardass T.O. was easier than dealing with it, and sort of just a natural response for him. But Lucy comes along and challenges everything he thought he had to be and do. And she kind of just brings out this side of him that is very gentle and vulnerable and kind. With Ashley and Rachel, it was all about charm I think. He seemed pleasant and happy, but it felt more like him trying to be a good boyfriend as opposed to him loving them so much that it made him a better person. I don’t doubt he had happy years where he and Isabel were really happy and he was an open and honest guy. But finding someone who guides you back to who you are and all the best parts of you feels so much more special to me. I have this whole beautiful spiel about it I’m going to try and cram into a fic somewhere lol.
And with Lucy, Tim brings out this side of her that’s so insanely confident and fierce and also grounded. I was rewatching the first bit of season 1 the other day and about to gauge my eyes out during a Nucy scene when it hit me how hesitant she was in her relationship with Nolan. She mulled over breaking up with him for weeks, she was so indecisive and unsure whether he was worth risking her career for. From the very beginning it kind of felt like they were tiptoeing around each other to me. And then you look at her relationship with Tim, where he has pushed her to be stronger on every level. Professionally, in being a cop and staying vigilant on the job, yes. But also in being confident in who she is and being unapologetic about it. He tells her she’s a survivor after the abduction, he recognizes her empathy as a skill that lets her be a good cop, he tells her not to let anyone tell her she can’t do something. It’s so visible too. The way she tells Nyla she’s also a threat, the way she assures Tim and (later) Angela that she won’t let Rosalind affect her undercover work, even the way she becomes bold enough to take that first move with Tim and ask him if he wants to come inside (the implication being to have sex).
So yeah, I just think they bring out the best parts of each other and in a very special way, unique to them!

was thinking about tedbecca and although i am very slightly frustrated ( i get that they are setting up to something and i don’t think canal man is an actual threat ) i think that another reason why they’ve given us so many red herrings when it comes to rebecca is that when she eventually realizes it’s ted and chooses to be with ted she CHOOSES ted. like she’s all in she’s ready
SO TRUE like I was also kind of frustrated having to watch rebecca and canal man for so long even though I’m not worried about it at all! and the red herrings they’ve thrown at us are all about showing how past relationships and the lessons they teach us are connected to That One final relationship. Sam was very much a vessel for Rebecca to feel confident in a relationship again, because (and bless his heart I love Sam Obisanya so much this is not an insult to him) he was like the safest possible option. He’s a total sweetheart, he’s younger, loyal, and works for her so she has some sort of control over the relationship and security she never had with Rupert. Canal man is very much about assuring herself she can have a genuine emotional connection with someone, that she can open herself to love even in a little more dangerous and riskier situation.
To be honest, I would have been disappointed if they had made Rebecca get together with Ted right after Sam! I’m glad she has these sort of filler relationships in between because it’ll make when she CHOOSES Ted all the more important, just like you said!

And and and! Tim putting his hand on the wall behind Lucy when they were backing up so she didn’t hit her head 🥹 but also 🥵
This is the second ship I’ve had pull that move now (the first being Hawkami from Chicago Fire) and IT GETS ME EVERY TIME. LIKE YESSS WE LOVE MEN WHO ARE CONSIDERATE AND THOUGHTFUL WHEN THEY’RE KISSING YOU SENSELESS LOL. Like the thoughtfulness of it mixed with the fact that Tim still is very much pushing her up against that wall while shirtless like he’s starving for her is just top tier, honestly. Dayumn. 🥵

So you think that we're actually going to get significant quality and or quantity screentime for chenford in 5x05? I know they're in the synopsis and the last time that happened we got 501 but idk I'm very sceptical I feel like it's gonna be something basic like her talking to Ashley for time or something and that's it.
Oh yes, for sure!
I understand why you’re skeptical and that’s completely okay, but I think the key to enjoying a good slowburn like Chenford is to expect good content for the sake of viewing the connection between two characters, not for the progress. And managing expectations, especially when it comes to The Rookie which features an ensemble cast and will have to balance screentime between a lot of people and stories, is so so SO important.
It’s also something I think the fandom kind of sucks at.
I say this with love! I really do! 😂 But I think there are very polarizing reactions from the Chenford fandom. A promo comes out, or a synopsis, or something is teased, and it goes one of two ways: either everyone loses their shit and bouncing off the walls because they think something MASSIVE is going to happen for Chenford, or everyone is completely bitter, reblogging gifs of clowns putting on their masks and ranting about how it’s “another week of bait.” Both of these are valid, and oftentimes are just the result of where they set expectations. It’s just… how people roll. But there is a middle ground!
Because right now, I AM fully expecting this episode to have loads of good Chenford content. Only I’m not totally expecting it to be a big step for them. Right now, they’re both still in relationships and still very adamantly trying to put space between each other for what they almost did. I’m thinking Tim’s injury could be a wake-up call for Lucy (and even for Tim himself) to stop that. I think that’ll maybe kickstart them into being close again, which would definitely be a realistic step forward to hope for, but I’m not expecting anything major and groundbreaking. Not yet, anwyway.
But I’m okay with that. I’m better than okay— I’m excited as hell for 5.05!! Some of the best Chenford scenes we’ve gotten have been scenes where it hasn’t marked a major development for their relationship but is rather reminding us all of why we love them: because of the trust that is there, because of the respect and affection and that truly beautiful connection that they have, that thing that just clicks when they’re together in a way that doesn’t happen with anyone else. Case in point: the dance scene at Nyla’s wedding, the hug scene after Tim visits his dad, the “save me a dance” line at Angela’s (almost) wedding, when she wakes up in the hospital after being buried alive. The list goes on. And what’s even better is that whatever we get in 5.05 will even TOP those kinds of scenes because now they’ve kissed. They’ve kissed TWICE and admitted to almost sleeping with each other, and there’s so much subtext to be captured in their moments that haven’t been captured before. So I think it’s going to be a great episode for them! It’s just all about managing expectations and preparing to be enthusiastic and happy about whatever we’re given.

(same anon)
It was the woman Lucy and Tim found going through the garbage, who killed the clown. She looked very much like someone from another one of my shows; the actress’s name is on the tip of my tongue but I can’t remember at the moment 😭
Thanks again to you and everyone who responded to my last ask! I really appreciate it.
ohhh yes ok I’ve definitely been there before with recognizable faces especially after watching enough cable television because a lot of the same actors are used. I hope you figured out who she is!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ❤️
Ahh ok this is so cute I’m glad I was sent this because I feel like I never promote my own stuff on here and wouldn’t unless prompted lol.
Hopelessly Devoted To You - anyone who’s read my stuff has probably read this one, it’s my most popular fic and my first ever AU. I was so proud of this story, and met some of the most wonderful fandom friends through this story
Spinning Out - this is my most severely underrated fanfiction ngl!! I was so proud of this when I wrote it and was in my Burzek feels. I owe @fighterkimburgess for this, who championed this fic for me, like I was writing it solely for you at one point cíara! you were its biggest fan for sure. anyway y’all can pry ballerina kim from my cold dead hands it was glorious.
Violin Concert in D Minor, Op. 47: I. Allegro Moderato - MY KENSTEWY FIC MY BELOVED yes I absolutely wrote a fic because of a violin concerto I’d heard it’s the geekiest thing ever but I lovedddd getting to write college!kenstewy and this was right after the succession finale too so I needed a win (or at least to write a little smut).
Where the Mind Wanders - one thing about me is that I LOVE the “dream sequence where deceased loved ones visit them” trope. think that episode of Sherlock where he gets shot, think 8.15 of Bones, things like that. because you get such an insight into a character’s psyche while also getting feral worried energy from character B who’s in love with them, and it’s just. SO GOOD. so I tried writing that for Chenford because we have yet to experience any true whump from established chenford now that they’re actually together and I wanted to write Tim losing it over Lucy being in danger!!
Love & Metachrosis - listen I love getting to write sort of higher concept fics and getting super creative with it, but this fic is none of that. it’s heartfelt as all my stuff is, but I’m proud of it for its comedy and humour. I genuinely did try writing it as a real scene from a (hypothetical at the time) season 2 episode of OFMD, and added in some comedy in there (I hope) so I’m proud of it precisely because it is super kitschy and silly and fun, but there is still a lot to sink your teeth into and it slowly sinks into the emotional stuff just like the show does. Idk, it was just the first fic I’d ever written for a show that is technically a comedy so I was really happy with the balance!
bonus points for my new chenford AU that I’m writing right now which is probably the best thing I’ve written and my favourite new idea, because I haven’t posted it yet but I still am so excited for it!! Title is TBD but @morganupstead knows what’s up (morgan it’s my superpowers fic and it’s coming along beautifully I totally need to send you the first two chapters or something because you kept me going with writing this)

Tim’s smile when Lucy asked you want to find out right now 😵😵 that’s one of the first things I noticed during that scene and some gifs cut it out! How can you cut out one of Tim’s biggest smiles in one of the most important scenes!!
OMG IKR like this man has never been so happy!! He is actually in love and like… this is our reality!! We get to witness that ahhhh!!! The little “yeah” he whispered just kills me every time too. I’ve still seen it in quite a few gifsets but I think it’s just that his smile comes right in the middle of the scene as a divider between the first and second half, so deciding which part of the sex scene (i.e. before or after he takes off his shirt) is what’s keeping gif makers from always including it.
