Sleeper Agent texted me the other day and I immediately fell back in love so here’s something I wrote about it when I was a tad tipsy last night
———
Why do you still think about that weekend? It was so long ago. You’re thinking about it again. You’re thinking about how his hand felt on your shoulder. You’re thinking about balancing on the curb as you waited for the light to change. You’re thinking about how to impress him, because he knows basketball and you do too — think fast, Kit, come up with something, anything — who cares? You tell him you need a prom date. He says he would do it but thinks prom is flashy and frivolous. You thank him again for inviting you to lunch and the gaggle of girls from your school gossip back in forth in the group chat.
Is this all you want? Is this it? The peak of life?
You’re so fucking stupid. You’ve gotta realize it. You’re moving to the city where you met him. He doesn’t even live there. He’s probably got a million different girls at that fancy international boarding school and — we’re back to this again? I thought we left this back in February, before the pandemic, before your life went to shit and came back together before your eyes like engineering students playing a game of Jenga. What comes down must go back up. What texts you every three months out of the blue must want something with you. Stop being so fucking sentimental. That one friend of yours is going to roast you like hell for this if you ever show her.
Are you gonna haunt the one street you two walked down? Are you gonna go to that Panera every other day? Are you gonna remember that sandwich you split? Are you fucking stupid? Are you okay? Are you touch starved? Do you want something from this? Why am I so mad at myself? Why can’t I just let myself be eighteen and babyfaced and in love?
Because it’s dumb. Because I constantly consider asking what his plans are for college. Because he texts me when I least expect it. Because his English is good for a boy from Verona. Because he looks like your favorite basketball player. Because he was on crutches when you met him and damn it, if you didn’t love a good hurt/comfort fanfiction…
You’re in love. Admit it. You’re dumb shit. And you’ve lost your flow.

NBA free agent Al Horford
Al Horford surprised the NBA this offseason when he decided to part ways with the Boston Celtics and opt instead to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent with his eyes on a big payday.
While the departure of Kyrie Irving was all but expected after a tumultuous season, Horford was widely expected…

NBA Trade Deadline: Philadelphia 76ers Primer
NBA trade deadline looming large. It’s on the horizon.
The Sixers have until Thursday at 3 p.m. to decide if they’re going to do anything before we hit the buyout market.
Before I go down the list of possible targets, let’s take a step back and look at a couple of things, namely:
Existing situations:
Wilson Chandler is now out 2-3 weeks with a quad strain
Markelle Fultz and Zhaire Smith still are not playing
Corey Brewer’s second 10-day contract is set to expire
Furkan Korkmaz has been playing limited minutes since the Brewer addition
Amir Johnson is essentially out of the rotation
What do the Sixers need?
front court depth, namely a proper big to back up Joel Embiid
a wing that can play defense
an upgrade at second unit point guard if you aren’t a T.J. McConnell or Markelle Fultz believer
Wesley Matthews would address bullet point #2 if his contract is bought out by the Knicks. The Sixers have been linked to him and he really would be a nice fit as a 6’5″ small forward/SG hybrid who was shooting 38% from three before being traded to New York as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal. He’d be a solid defensive piece for the playoffs, the type of guy who helps with those tricky perimeter matchups.
Marc Stein:
The Knicks are exploring the trade market for Wes Matthews before Thursday's 3 PM deadline, league sources say, but there are also several antsy suitors hoping Matthews makes it to the buyout market. Among them: Houston, Oklahoma City, Toronto, Philadelphia and, yes, Golden State
— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) February 4, 2019
What do the Sixers have to offer?
Markelle Fultz
Zhaire Smith
The Miami 2021 first round pick
another future first
whatever player(s) you deem forfeit
I’m lukewarm on the idea of trading Jimmy Butler. He was great on Saturday night but oddly deferential in the Warriors win. I think I’d lean towards keeping him and trying to get him further acclimated, simply because great perimeter defenders don’t grow on trees, but if you can get involved in an aggressive blockbuster type of deal, I think you do it.
Right, so here are some of the names that are floating around out there, some I like and some I don’t like. Thoughts, in no particular order:
Nikola Mirotic
He’s been linked to the Sixers and he’s a guy I really like as a stretch-four who can shoot the ball and space the floor.
Brett Brown always prefers his power forwards to be able to do both of those things, and you saw the success Dario Saric and Ersan Ilyasova had playing in his system. Mirotic is averaging 17 and 8 this year and shoots 36.8% from three. He’s not going to challenge for the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award, but I don’t think you’re going to get a ton of drop off from 31 year old Wilson Chandler. The problem is that teams are going to search him out in the playoffs, and that’s an issue when you run into the likes of Pascal Siakam and Marcus Morris or that Aron Baynes/Al Horford look from the Celtics. Mirotic and JJ Redick in a starting lineup is defensively iffy, though you’d have a couple of guys capable of shooting the lights out.
Mirotic is 27 years old and earning $12.5 million on the last year of his contract. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
Jrue Holiday
I really liked Jrue as a Sixer back in the day, and there’s no question he’d be a perfect answer to the Raptors, Celtics, and Bucks in the playoffs, assuming he and Ben Simmons can figure out an on-ball/off-ball chemistry.
Problem is, he’s got two more years at $26 million on his contract before hitting a player option for 2021-2022. You’d probably have to give up Fultz, Chandler, the Miami 1st rounder, and more picks to get Holiday, or else you’re looking at some sort of wonky three-way deal, maybe one that sends Anthony Davis out to Los Angeles.
Something like this:
Even then, I’m not sure that’s enough value for New Orleans, but you get the idea. Throw in some picks, of course, but this also depends on what the Pels want to do moving forward. Blow it up? Start over? Keep Jrue? I don’t know.
E’Twaun Moore
Wing depth, a two-guard who can shoot the ball and play capable defense for you. He’s certainly an upgrade over whatever else is coming off the bench at this point and can also handle the ball if needed.
Moore is not Bruce Bowen on defense, but he’s 6’4″ with a pretty long wing span and can switch 1-3 in Brett Brown’s system. I really like Mirotic as a player, but if you’re talking to the Pelicans and looking ahead to wing matchups in the playoffs, Moore probably gives you more of what you were missing last April and May.
Dewayne Dedmon
His name came up as a buyout option even before the report linking him to the Sixers a week or two ago. Lloyd Pierce, the former Sixers assistant, might be willing to work with Elton Brand and Brett Brown in a “help me/help you” situation.
The depth behind Embiid at this point is Mike Muscala, Jonah Bolden, and Ben Simmons, who goes down to power forward while T.J. McConnell runs point, which has not been an effective pairing at all.
Dedmon hits the cap at $7.2 million, and you might be able to swing some other three-team deal here if other squads are looking at bringing in Hawks veterans like Jeremy Lin and Kent Bazemore. Taurean Prince is an interesting name as well, a cheap power forward who might be packaged into a Dedmon/Sixers deal.
Reggie Bullock
An affordable wing on a ‘meh’ Pistons team. Bullock is making $2.5 million this year and averaging 12 points per game on 38.3% three-point shooting He’s 6’7″, a 200 pound small forward who can give you some 3 and D in the playoffs if you decide against keeping Brewer around while deeming Korkmaz surplus.
Cavs, Grizz, Bulls
Three selling teams at the deadline.
I wouldn’t touch Kevin Love, not at his age with his injury history on that contract. David Nwaba I don’t think does much for you this season.
I’d take a swing on Justin Holiday, who was a 36% three-point shooter in Chicago before being traded to Memphis earlier this season. He’s 29 years old, affordable, another piece of wing depth. Garrett Temple is another guy I might consider.
Bobby Portis is a name that keeps popping up in regard to Philly and he’s playing really well right now, having averaged 14 and 7 in January. Energy guy, Sixer killer, plays defense, and punched one of his teammates in the face a while back, which means he’s “Philly tough.” He’s still on his rookie deal and will be a restricted free agent.
RE: Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, both guys are on the wrong side of 30 and make a ton of money, so I can’t see that happening. JaMychal Green as a stretchy four who can shoot a bit is much more realistic if the Sixers get on the phone with Memphis.
Pacers
What’s the strategy post-Victor Oladipo injury?
Cory Joseph would be a perfect defensive piece if Indy is looking to move him, total pest, really committed on that end. Darren Collison is another veteran point guard with an expiring contract. Bojan Bogdanovic looks to be re-signing in Indy.
Indianapolis is my trade deadline sleeper team.
Terrence Ross
Orlando is somewhat similar to Indy and New Orleans in the “what’s the plan?” department.
The Magic are 22-31 and three games out of the eight seed with Nik Vucevic on the final year of his contract and Aaron Gordon in year number one of a new deal.
Ross is another one of those dudes who always kills the Sixers. He’s playing 26 minutes off the bench and averaging 14 and 3 on 37.7% three-point shooting.
Noah Vonleh
There was a rumor linking the Sixers to Vonleh, which was shot down.
But you could do worse than having Vonleh as a backup big. He’s averaging 9 and 7 this year on a wretched Knicks team that just traded Porzingis and looks likely to swing (and probably miss) on a pair of max slots in free agency.
Jeremy Lamb
A good shooter who probably overlaps with Landry Shamet a bit too much for my liking. I think you just roll with what you’ve got in Shamet instead of pursuing a guy like Lamb. A Redick/Shamet/Lamb trio at shooting guard is somewhat redundant and doesn’t give you enough on the defensive end.
DeAndre Jordan
You’ve got rumors linking him to a Los Angeles return, but you can do a lot worse with a half-season rental. Jordan backing up Embiid gives you the second unit beef that you just aren’t getting right now. He’s still playing 30 minutes a game and giving you 10 points and 10 rebounds, so Jordan certainly is not cooked. He’s making $22 million so you’d have to go the buyout route here.
That’s about it for now. Raptors at home tomorrow night, should be a good one.

al horford sleeper agent
—————
anyway by now ive told basically everyone i care about but i had a life changing experience over the weekend. n it sounds dumb as shit but i met a real life dude who was basically a clone of nick from franz. weird hours. guess this is a thread
before we start i want to say i havent thought about franz in weeks. theyve gone away on their own finally but really i think my old obsessions just get replaced every few years and maybe it was my hard work in therapy or my new obsession with rap or
maybe it was just a realization or me growing up and maturing or something but i dont even want to work on my favorite fanfics anymore or anything. it’s just odd. i think im changing
and i don’t think about how my former favorite band members are doing or worry about them or check their socials n it feels really good. but i know there probably is or probably will be a replacement
ok that was a tangent. if they were replaced by anything they were replaced by new friends and the NBA. so there’s the exposition of this story sorted
anyway back to the weekend. the sleeper agent invited me to lunch. and that was the catalyst. god people are being so loud in here let me go to the art library
anyway i just kind of realized "huh i guess there's more out there." i went to lunch n shit. WE went to lunch n shit. stopped caring so much about my math homework. let myself be dumb and in love
that’s a very human thing. lunch. he spilled his stupid chipotle burrito all over his stupid bright green celtics jacket
he’s from italy. never even stepped foot in a chipotle. immediately clowned himself. some world we live in
we hung out all weekend. we went to lunch like two more times and we went to dinner. there was this big threat of leaving looming over my head the whole time. i made him walk like a mile on crutches and i feel very bad about it
i don’t know what’s wrong with him. it’s somewhere between a basketball injury and a chronic disability. either way that just made me feel even more emotionally attached to him. i never saw him without the celtics jacket
it was so cold that weekend. or maybe i just didn’t bring the right jacket. if he were a gentleman he would have offered me the celtics jacket. i didnt even hug him goodbye
and then of course he went back home. theres a million girls all over his instagram comments all the time. theres nothing special about me. he doesn't want to talk. i wrote my ap psych notes in green yesterday bc i was so in love with that stupid celtics jacket
im a sixers fan. the sixers and the celtics have been rivals forever. it was about to be war, except i want to move to boston. but really i want to move to dc. i wish the whole world was philly. things would be less complicated
im in love with a celtics jacket. a celtics jacket. of all teams. and i cant even talk to my basketball friends about it because they think im dumb shit for falling for some celtics fan with a million girls all over his instagram comments all the time
im not like those girls. i don’t think im like those girls. but i definitely exactly am
i have an economics test in fifteen minutes. i think one day ill drown in the atlantic ocean.
the test wasnt that bad. i thought about writing this the entire time. i would just zone out and stare and think about the phrase ‘al horford sleeper agent’
because he has to be. why else would someone put a diehard sixers fan right in front of a diehard celtics fan who looks exactly like the guitarist of their middle school favorite band
in reality i should be calling him a celtics sleeper agent because the whole point is that al horford is a sleeper agent for the celtics. but i hate al horford so i guess it’s more funny to include him in the title
i mean how can one player change so drastically like that? al horford was benched for the first time since his rookie season, like, two weeks ago after being traded to the sixers. how does that happen? why *wouldn’t* he be playing badly so his old friends win the title?
al horford’s gotta be retiring in like, three years, tops. he’s working for the celtics, i know it. and my sleeper agent is trying to convert me to a celtics fan
i understand why people make jokes, though. it’s a very human thing to want to go home. al horford just wants to go home. he lived in boston for however many years let me look it up
god whatever it was only three years i thought it was like eleven that just ruined my point
back to the matter at hand though that’s all we’re trying to do. we all just want to feel at home. we’re all just these little things trying to connect somehow. sometimes we are more desperate than others
i think im pretty desperate right now. sometimes i sit in my bedroom and im like damn when do i get to go home? but im home
i didn’t even want to leave dc. it was all star break and there wasn’t even basketball on. so there i was, in basketball purgatory, wizards territory for some god forsaken reason, losing sleep over a celtics fan and not wanting to go home
and when i say i was losing sleep you better believe me. i was so excited to wake up in the morning that i didn’t want to fall asleep. i wanted to be awake forever, endless, running through the city
i’ll get there soon enough. it’ll be with different people. college, yknow. all that. but sometimes i feel like certain things can’t be replaced.
and im acting like a different person lately. im using my phone at red lights just so i can check for a message from the sleeper agent. it’s always one word responses
yes. ok. maybe. some shit like that. a haha every once in a while. he’s not interested and i should stop trying
and then, INEVITABLY, i send something stupid back, a photo of my hand on the wheel or something, and i get left on read
and i know im stupid for it. everyone i know is screaming at me “disco, you’re dumb shit” but i just want to believe for a minute that im loved, im special
I want to feel like someone out there cares about me that isn’t obligated to, yknow? my mom can say she loves me all she wants but it doesn’t feel as good as some italian celtics fan saying it
some hot italian celtics fan mind you
even if he wasn’t hot or italian it would be nice. and actually it would be better if he liked like, ANY other basketball team
except maybe the knicks
but whatever. main point: i know im dumb shit and should stop trying. but it feels good to feel like if i keep trying maybe i’ll be wanted
sleeper agent is just one of those people tho. he’s magnetic and everyone always wants to be around him. dumb as hell in the most charming way ever. my friends are still all making fun of me
i started crying in a pizza place the other night because even the CONCEPT of italy sent me over the edge. i need to stop before i
wait what’s the word
i need to stop before i immortalize him? no, no
i need to stop before i deify him. soon enough he’s going to be a new canonical character in my head and i’ll start making up legends and stories to myself
we barely knew each other. if i deify him i’ll start telling people he offered me the celtics jacket when it was cold out. he’ll become a perfect gentleman. and he wasnt. he was just some stupid hot italian boy in a bright green jacket
im not going to deify him. it won’t happen. but i love the color green. i always say i love yellow more but i think that’s passed. i wear a green ring on my right ring finger every day. im not going to deify him and i still hate the celtics
overall, the celtics are winning the rivalry. i don’t think the sixers have ever truly been “great,” at least outside of philly. maybe allen iverson. wilt chamberlain. dr j? theyve never had like, a dynasty. idk. i don’t think you’d be able to get a sixers jacket in italy.
it’s his birthday today. i should probably text him. i should probably stop thinking about him. that’s just dumb shit, disco youre better than this what happened to a little self confidence every now and again
sure lets say external validation isnt necessary but also i think that’s something the mindfulness crowd made up to sell more planners and tote bags in 2011. it feels good to be wanted
never waste all your time on it sure. know youre still worth it even when you have no friends and there are a million girls all over his instagram comments. but it does feel good to hear “goodness disco i like how much you like the philadelphia 76ers”
my friends are all making fun of me for being on some romeo and juliet shit because he’s literally from verona and he’s a celtics fan and im a sixers fan god damn it disco why does this always happen
i never even read romeo and juliet but i saw the dreamworks adaptation so i guess ive got the story relatively right i know they die in the end. the gnomes shatter into little pieces i think
anyway tangents aside the sixers won tonight. philly is lit up green. why the hell is philly lit up green? the eagles were done like three months ago and the flyers are orange. why is philly lit up green
oh god, he just snapped me. a zoomed in photo of himself with caption that says “76ers” with like five exclamation points
here we go again, everybody
wish me luck

The Sixers have been linked to him and he really would be a nice fit as a 6’5″ small forward/SG hybrid who was shooting 38% from three before being traded to New York as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal. He’d be a solid defensive piece for the playoffs, the type of guy who helps with those tricky perimeter matchups.
Marc Stein:

Which NBA player will score 60 points next? Here’s who you guessed.
Only eight players have scored 60 points since the 2000-01 season. It’s really hard! Here are the players we think have a chance.
Since the 2000-01 season, only eight players have scored 60 points or more in a game, and 13 total instances. Most recently it was Devin Booker, who scored 70 points last year. The rest of the list: Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant six times, Gilbert Arenas, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Klay Thompson.
We’ve seen random role players like Terrance Ross, Corey Brewer and Andre Miller pop off for 50-point games. That’s a beloved happenstance, when players we never would have expected break an elite scoring plateau. But players like that don’t score 60. Scoring 60 is hard. You saw the list in the first paragraph: you’re either a Hall of Fame lock or pure scorer prone to heating up in extreme ways. (Miss you, Agent Zero.)
Who will be the next player to score 60? I love hypotheticals like this, because it can so easily blend fan bias and actual expectations as we examine the players who best fit the 60-point mold. We posed the question on our Twitter.
Only 8 players have scored 60+ points since 2000. With that in mind, who will be the next player to drop 60? Go.

Here were your answers.
Kyrie Irving

kyrie
— james farro (@jamesfarro1) December 8, 2017
Kyrie will do it this year. https://t.co/97T7F1dMRf
— James (@JamesLUFC) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: I believe this is the most likely option of them all. The Boston Celtics are a great team, but they’re great because of their defense. Offensively, Kyrie Irving still runs a one-man show. He has fantastic complementary pieces around him, and Al Horford can create some shots if you need him to, but it’s mostly Irving.
One of these games, Irving will start hot and just keep on shooting. The opponent will stay home on Boston’s shooters, and it’ll give Irving easy driving lanes to the rim. He’ll heat up from behind the arc in the second half, and before you know it, he’ll have 60. Irving has prior games of 55 and 57, so this seems reasonable. — Tim Cato
James Harden

James Harden. Also with a triple double. https://t.co/Ejj54XzT6f
— Victor Roque (@vicalmadroq) December 8, 2017
james harden
— local me (@olanderic) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: Harden scored 56 points in one of the most impossibly efficient games I’ve ever seen earlier this year. Harden is naturally efficient — he only took 25 shots that game. If he had taken 30, he would have had 60-plus points. One of these days, he’s bound to shoot a little more often, with the same efficiency, and break the 60-point plateau when it seems like he’s hardly even trying. I have Irving’s chances slightly above his, but Harden’s not far off. — Tim Cato
Kemba Walker
Sleeper pick: Kemba Walker https://t.co/Yh9LkIDhzV
— Mike Prada (@MikePradaSBN) December 8, 2017
Kemba Walker
— courtney kennedy (@KennedyCourtney) December 8, 2017
KEMBA. https://t.co/g7duC37fHM
— At The Hive (@At_The_Hive) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: As Prada notes, this is an excellent sleeper pick. Walker’s career high is 52 points, but his increasingly good three-point shot gives him a chance to heat up, inferno level, one game. It also helps that Charlotte relies on him so heavily, and that the Hornets rarely blow opponents out, so Walker will have plenty of chances. — Tim Cato
Damian Lillard
@Dame_Lillard https://t.co/KrxIj0zKda
— Chad Butler (@butlerchad) December 9, 2017
dame https://t.co/yGhr54iAF3
— Ashwin Harimohan (@ash_win10) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: If Gilbert Arenas can get 60 points, so can Lillard. Someone photoshop their heads onto that Spiderman meme, where the two Spidermans are pointing at each other. (OK, they’re not the exact same player, but you see some similarities, right?) — Tim Cato
DeMarcus Cousins
Boogieeee https://t.co/2mlP1gJnmX
— Josh Gaines (@_JAGaines) December 9, 2017
Boogie
— SactownBabyGiraffe (@TimMaxwell22) December 8, 2017
Boogie tonight on his former team #kings https://t.co/TQTPEvZlIl
— Matt VanNatta (@mattv5) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: It did not happen against his former team, despite Matt’s best guess. Cousins did have 38 points in that game, however. In an increasingly small league, Cousins is the exception. He could find a certain matchup where he bullies his way for a dozen cheap points off put backs, while hitting six threes or so. He’s be two-thirds of the way there already — just get him 20 more points somewhere else.
It might need to happen in a game where Anthony Davis is out, or another team where Cousins is once again the lead scorer. Still, it’s certainly plausible. — Tim Cato
Joel Embiid
Joel Embiid will have a 60 point game this season.
— Justin Gardner (@StatTheProcess) December 8, 2017
Embiid https://t.co/NR7UfYD3IO
— iciiik™ (@His33k) December 8, 2017
Embiid
— jolly em ️iist ⛄️ (@joel_embiist) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: I like this answer, even if Cousins has a slightly better chance of scoring 60 before Embiid does. But the way Embiid would be like his preseason debut this year, when he scored 22 points in 15 minutes. In that game against Brooklyn, Embiid was simply much large than any defender that the Nets had. He went to the line 18 times, and once those fouls start adding up and backups are having to test Embiid, things could get real ugly.
I think the rest of Embiid’s game is still a few years off from putting together this many points in a single outing, but you never know. — Tim Cato
Devin Booker
D Booker https://t.co/IEFJRWA6au
— Nate Phelps (@ThePhelpsy_) December 9, 2017
Devin Booker https://t.co/nSy73R4Nb1
— Bruno Fernando Enthusiast (@ATVS_JakeNazar) December 8, 2017
Maybe Booker or at some point Mitchell from the jazz
— Brian Knutson (@briank24708) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: By now, you’ve probably figured out this list started in order but now is just a free-for-all. Booker would be quite a bit higher if we were actually trying to rank these in order. He has done it once, and he’s on a team that has nothing to lose. One hot half, with 30 points or so, and Phoenix will spend the final 24 minutes trying to get him the record. Why not? — Tim Cato
Klay Thompson
Klay.
— BOBSLED (@ThatRobertPiece) December 9, 2017
Klay
— Catey (@cateyxdubs) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: Thompson is another already-done-it on this list. He scored his first 60-pointer while holding the ball for just 90 seconds, which almost seems like an impossible stat but is very real. Basically, Thompson is always a threat to explode, and nothing special even needs to happen. He just needs a few open shots and it’s all over. — Tim Cato
Kevin Durant
Durant
— AM (@everlastingitch) December 8, 2017
Durant https://t.co/WiSzqSNklK
— Chris Bernucca (@ChrisBernucca) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: Like Curry below, Durant’s career-high is just 54 and his chances are now limited by the Warriors’ excellence. They blow out too many teams, and have too many mouths to feed, to make a singular scoring explosion this large that likely. — Tim Cato
Stephen Curry
Curry https://t.co/Fah4AIKRNr
— S.Zagury (@Sammzag) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: Curry is probably going to go down as the greatest shooter of all time. That fact alone makes a fairly strong case for the Warriors’ superstar point guard. Though he hasn’t had a 50 point game since February of 2016, he’s had so many flurries stopped short because the Warriors are so dominant. It’s going to take a close game against a dominant scoring team like, say, the Rockets to get it done. And I can see it coming this season. — Michael Sykes
Bradley Beal
Oladipo or Bradley Beal
— Ben Sternberg (@BenShachen) December 9, 2017
Bradley Beal https://t.co/5ZZGokST1I
— Grunfeld (@falckovitch93) December 8, 2017
Bradley Beal https://t.co/QwTj1H2Mrf
— Michael Sykes, II (@MikeDSykes) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: Over the last season and change, Bradley Beal has become one of the NBA’s elite scorers. He’s had six 40 point games over that span including his 51 point outburst against the Trail Blazers this season.
When things get tough for the Wizards, they know they can rely on Beal as a scorer. It’ll take a close game and, maybe, a shot attempt total hitting the mid-to-high 30s, but he can get the job done. — Michael Sykes
Donovan Mitchell
Donovan Mitchell
— Mimz (@the_1st_mimzee) December 8, 2017
The amazing @spidadmitchell
— Matt Davis (@MattNotHipster) December 8, 2017
My easy guess is James Harden, My out there guess is Donavan Mitchell
— NBA Hoops Online (@NBABoards) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: I don’t know. I know Mitchell scored 41 points the other night, but 60 is a lot more than 41. This seems a bit premature, but I still got as many answers for Mitchell as any other player. — Tim Cato
Victor Oladipo
Oladipo or Bradley Beal
— Ben Sternberg (@BenShachen) December 9, 2017
How it would happen: Victor Oladipo has been unleashed in Indiana. He also just spent a year with Russell Westbrook so he has an idea of how to take over a game himself. He’ll get hot from behind the arc and then the Pacers are such an unselfish team they’ll just feed him all night. — Whitney Medworth
Kristaps Porzingis
Kristaps porzingis
— Mypark Playa (@wweecwwcwtnanba) December 8, 2017
Porzingis
— Igor (@_lgor) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: On this year’s Knicks team, Porzingis could easily take 35 shots in a random game. That’s doable. — Tim Cato
Lance Stephenson!
@StephensonLance https://t.co/dwTlkT4kOP
— Cable (@zach_cable23) December 9, 2017
How it would happen: Whitney
Picture a late regular season game in April. Playoff standings are already set for both teams, so nothing is at stake. Lance Stephenson plays 48 minutes, never passes the ball once, scores 60 points. — Whitney Medworth
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis
— Greg Nog (@gwiss) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: I’m surprised only one person answered it Antetokounmpo. I know his lack of three-point shooting makes it more difficult, but Antetokounmpo is also big enough to go to the line 25 times under the right circumstances.
Kobe Bryant
kobe
— Tim Cato (@tim_cato) December 8, 2017
How it would happen: The most Kobe Bryant thing ever would be to come back for one game, score 60 points, and then retire again. You hadn’t thought of it, but man, now you’re convinced it’s going to happen. I’m certainly convinced it’s going to happen.
The only correct answer
Dirk in his final game. No doubt.
