My friend and I… but as muppets.
I broke down the core of muppets theory a dub ven diagram of muppet entomology. From the study, I learned the following things:
1. Human Muppets: They’re vaguely human shaped with exaggerated features here and there. Notably, however, they have a normal name.
ex. Bert & Ernie.
2. Silly Muppets: Vaguley alien, almost cryptid like. Their names are noises or not something you’d typically hear. They typically don’t have regular speech patterns. Physically , they’re animals but not with some weird twist— Big Bird doesn’t qualify, as he is a straight up bird.
ex. Gonzo, Yip Yips.
3. Descriptor Muppets: Their names are titles. What you have their name is what you get in their behaviors. They often cross into Silly Territory based on speech patterns.
ex. Big Bird, The Count, Swedish Chef.

Left, my friend Alex is a shark, and are labeled as between Human-Silly. For starters, they have a name but something that’s kind of an animal but with a weird twist.
Right, is me! My name is Mothlight, so silly, and even has a funky speech pattern. Whenever theh talk, their mustache moves and it’s just a jarbled muffles.Kinda like Kenny from Southpark. It leans descriptive because it’s … mainly a moth.
but yea

VIDEO ART - Jim Hobbs
Mothlight by Stan Brakhage
https://youtu.be/Yt3nDgnC7M8
“A "found foliage" film composed of insects, leaves, and other detritus sandwiched between two strips of perforated tape.”
Brakhage collected patiently hundreds of moth wings from the inside of lamps and windows, added parts of leaves and other detritus and sandwiched them between two filmstrips. The outcome was the life of a moth, from birth to death: a dance of patterns on the wings, of psychedelic beauty
Seemingly at random, the wings and other bits of moths and insects move rapidly across the screen. Most are brown or sepia; up close, we can see patterns within wings, similar to the veins in a leaf. Sometimes the images look like paper cutouts, like Matisse. Green objects occasionally appear. Most wings are translucent and the technique makes them appear to be stuck directly to the film.
The Dante Quartet by Stan Brakhage
https://youtu.be/KJKC3cwv5b0
This film is a six-minute representation of the afterlife inspired by Dante's "The Divine Comedy". The main character's ascent from Hell that is divided into four phases, titled "Hell Itself," "Hell Spit Flexion," "Purgation" and "Existence is Song."
Hell is a series of multicolored brush strokes against a white background; the speed of the changing images varies. "Hell Spit Flexion," or springing out of Hell, is on smaller film stock, taking the center of the frame. Montages of color move rapidly with a star and the edge of a lighted moon briefly visible. Purgation is back to full frame; blurs of color occasionally slow down then freeze. From time to time, an image, such as a window or a face, is distinguishable for a moment. In "existence is song," colors swirl then flash in and out of view. Behind the vivid colors are momentary glimpses of volcanic activity.
The Third & The Seventh by Alex Roman
https://vimeo.com/7809605
The Third & The Seventh is born from an act of rebellion against the established aesthetics and the need to create something different. The title of the film, The Third & The Seventh, refers to the artistic disciplines of architecture and film. This classification is a modern interpretation that evolved from earlier attempts to systematically define art as a group of disciplines. Roman said, “In the end that is what interested me the most: getting the spectator to experiment the same feelings I went through while creating the piece.”

Zola Jesus:
Last year, I moved back to the woods in Wisconsin where I was raised. I built a little house just steps away from where my dilapidated childhood tree fort is slowly recombining into earth. Okovi was fed by this return to roots and several very personal traumas.
While writing Okovi, I endured people very close to me trying to die, and others trying desperately not to. Meanwhile, I was fighting through a haze so thick I wasn’t sure I’d find my way to the other side. Death, in all of its masks, has been encircling everyone I love, and with it the questions of legacy, worth, and will.
Okovi is a Slavic word for shackles. We’re all shackled to something—to life, to death, to bodies, to minds, to illness, to people, to birthright, to duty. Each of us born with a unique debt, and we have until we die to pay it back.  Without this cost, what gives us the right to live? And moreover, what gives us the right to die? Are we really even free to choose?
This album is a deeply personal snapshot of loss, reconciliation, and a sympathy for the chains that keep us all grounded to the unforgiving laws of nature. To bring it to life, I decided to enlist the help of Alex DeGroot, who has been the only constant in my live band and helped mix the Stridulum EP back in 2010. It will be released on Sacred Bones, the closest group of people I’ll ever have to blood-bound family.

Six Organs of Admittance to ascend to an even-higher plane on forthcoming album Burning The Threshold, bestow new song and tour dates upon the mortals
Thank heaven! I know it’s only been two years or so, but it feels like a friggin’ Viconian Cycle or two has passed since those higher-plane-seeking, drone-folk spiritualists Six Organs Of Admittance have returned to earth to flip our collective lids. Back then, you might recall, mastermind Ben Chasny was busy reinventing the whole of Western music as we know it with his modest little “Hexadic” systems. No big deal. But it’s cool; he’s kinda done-ish with that stuff for now, and he’s back on February 24 with a new album for Drag City. Titled Burning The Threshold, the new LP represents a “subtle shift” from the formerly somber, minor-key tone of previous releases toward a more “optimistic” land of “mischief and wonder,” with each song on the album taking its inspiration from a distinct inspiration of “writers, theorists, philosophers and other musicians” (particularly THE Wally Stevens!). The record also boasts a heavenly host of musical guests, including Riley Walker, Alex Nielson, Chris Corsano, Damon & Naomi, and Hayley Fohr. Pre-order the whole shebang now from Drag City on your choice of vinyl, CD, cassette, or download; and check out the album’s surprisingly-funky and Terry Riley-ish raga jam “Taken By Ascent” down below. After that, peep the mega list of spring tour dates, just in case you feel like gettin’ your spiritual-awakening-on LIVE and in person. Burning TheThreshold tracklist: 01. Things As They Are 02.
