oh so when it is toxic as hell, it's BL but when it wasn't it's "great MLM representation"
dude... you just have to admit your favorite "non-toxic" works are BL, bro

i didn't reblog the post but I do agree that the terminology for zines has gotten completely twisted.
ON THE OTHER HAND I don't think that selling them for say 20$ (which is what i sell my sketchbooks for) is unreasonable or unfair to still call a zine. I need to cover my costs of printing and the time I put into putting them together. yeah I can TECHNICALLY get a printer and print them myself but with the cost of printer ink and the lack of space its easier for me to just pay for someone to do it professionally but I'm also NOT making them at like....the HIGHEST QUALITY, LIBRARY BOUND, HARD COVER, IT COMES WITH A THOUSAND DOO DADS AND GIFTS. its just sketchbooks ofpreviously existing doodles and a few new sketches or sketches that I had before and colored in. Its essentially like selling a full print but in carryable size with some notes from me.
Its a zine but I call it a sketchbook because the idea of zines has changed for a lot of consumers. Thats not their fault bc those zines or anthologies DID start out in the "lets make a big ol book together because we are all horny for Reigen" kind of thing. A lot of times they're projects made from passion. I HAVE noticed that there's been a turn in the whole process of making them that both stresses out artists, requires kickstarters, and all sorts of shit that should be considered Artbooks. ARTBOOKS have always been on the higher end of things. There's nothing wrong with considering an anthology thats proper bound, and for a certain amount on a kickstarter you get extra things like stickers, charms, whatever.
But zines SHOULD go back to being simple little things. The cost to buy them shouldn't be lost UNLESS the artist wants it to be. If you print at home or using a schools printer and just print a bunch of cute little zines yourself then that should also exist and you can set your price point for whatever you want.
Its all semantics and personal preference at the end of the day but I do think that...yknow it wouldn't hurt if we could start calling the big project 50$ range books that often get run into the ground from bad leadership (or fun stuff like the organizer of the thing runs off with the money to play genshin) ...something other than zine. Like Artbook or Anthology. Or even Collection lol
Zine should be a small thing that you collect for fun and doesn't require a committee, a new discord channel, and a contract to make sure your organizer doesn't run off to play gacha (I'm sorry it still makes me laugh)
ALSO another thing about zines is that often times they were originally made to be alternatives to really closed minded book sellers. Like...its where a lot of the OG star trek fanfic/porn came from. Its a place to have your ideas put down. To explore narratives. Essentially Doujinshi can also be considered A TYPE of zine in that it literally means self published (not NECCESSARILY that its...yknow...bl or waifu porn lol Sometimes its just manga that artists put out before they can get published)
But lately there are a lot of zine projects (again...more actually like anthologies or art collections) that are REALLY REALLY closed minded even when the subject is SHIPPING.
So even the nature of CREATING the zines has changed a lot.
So yeah I agree with that post that I forgot to reblog. My only REAL gripe is that it doesn't mean that you should undercharge your work because you didn't print your zine at home or hand craft it like a youtube diy video. I did enough of that at art school I am not gonna bind a book or try to cut pages ever again if i don't have to lmao. CSP even has a zine preview so I can see the pages in 3d as if they were bound before printing lol

Be My Favorite Ep 7
It's Frigay again! Sweet, sweet Frigay, favorite day of the week.
Who would have thought that this show would be one of the major reasons I look forward to this day? I certainly didn't. I know I say this often, but I can't help it. This was so not on my radar that the fact that I am loving it so much just continues to baffle me in the best way.
Let's see if the back half can keep up the momentum.
Kawi's dad stuff still gets me.
Lol Kawi had a whole face journey while he was contemplating talking about the kiss. And aw, Pisaeng. I totally get the need to say the thing before he does, though. And I do love that he just wants to be there for Kawi in whatever way he can. That's lovely and sweet. But man, part of me wonders if Pisaeng is eventually going to be pushing a Pear agenda that Kawi is no longer into. I would be into it.
Speaking of Pear...she's definitely feeling some kind of way right now. I think that Not's words are burrowing into her head. Is it weird that I'm kind of looking forward to seeing her be less than perfect? Please do not get me wrong I love Pear and I don't want her to turn into one of those old BL girls who seems to exist just to cause problems, but I also don't think that anyone can be sweet all the time, even if they are a genuinely lovely person.
Oh, yay dad! So happy that the surgery went well.
And can I just say it - I think that if this were another show, Pear and Kawi could be a good story about moving on from first love (for her). One Kawi got himself a bit more together.
Oooh so last ep Kawi tells Piseang about his magical time travel crystal, and now he has actually traveled to the future in front of him. AH, I hope we're not stuck in the future for long, because you know I want to know if that will be remembered when he gets back!
Idol!Kawi, heh. Why do I find it so funny?
Max looking amazing as always. I want that jacket. Is he Kawi's manager? I'm so glad he's still around in the future because he makes everything 10x better by virtue of existing.
Ooh does this Kawi have an alcohol problem? Sounds like it. And yeah, Kawi is too excited about where he is to really listen.
So dad still died. Yeah, I kinda thought that might be the case.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH NO. I knew they would do this and I hate it. NOT DOES NOT (heh) DESERVE GOOD THINGS. I don't even care if he is Mr. Perfect in this timeline (I bet he's not). I hate it Kawi let's return it okay?
Ouch. Imagine being such a bad guy that Not is preferable as a romantic partner.
I do wonder though if Max and Pisaeng still talk. I hope they do and Max is just not telling Kawi because he doesn't deserve/need to know.
I have to say that I wonder if we'll stay in the future for a bit longer this time - eventually it's gonna take longer for the crystal to work, if it works at all, right? The old man did say that it wouldn't work forever. Kawi better get his shit together before he gets stuck in a timeline that really blows.
Then again...well. Maybe that's part of the point, eh? Isn't that always the point of time travel narratives? That you can't change the past, but the future is still unknown so that is what you should focus on? I don't know if that's the case here - I haven't read the novel it's based on - but pretty much every time travel thing I've seen where someone keeps trying to fix a past mistake seems to go that way. Granted I know I haven't seen all of them. But I think that is why dad keeps dying. It happened, it's going to happen, dad's fate is sealed and done. The end. And no matter how hard Kawi tries, that won't change.
Or maybe I'm talking out of my ass and Kawi can fix it. 😂
Time will tell, but I have to say if he can't, I'd be okay with it even if it sucks.
Not quite the same reason Kwan. My guess is you love Not, which...girl, love yourself more. You can do better. You should date Pear instead. And Not was dating them both. Sigh. He's still the same old asshat. Joy. I almost wonder if Pear knew and married him anyway.
She did know. And is pregnant. Oh, Pear. Honey. I hate this timeline for you.
Max still delivering truths. Truly the best.
I bet Kawi blamed Piseang for the deterioration of his relationship with Pear. I just bet.
And ha, of course Max knows where he is. I knew it.
Aw, maybe Kawi should just let the man fish.
Whatever Kawi did and Piseang still can't let him be upset. Dude is too good for future!Kawi (he's too good for past!Kawi too, but at least past!Kawi is working towards improvement, not taking a wrecking ball to his own life like future seems to have done).
And then a frolic. I do love a good frolic.
Oh Piseang. Your continued crush is both adorable and a little pathetic. I say that with love, because you're still in my top three faves.
Okay look. I appreciate that Gawin can sing. I do. But I also don't need to hear it, especially not when I've already had to hear Krist this same ep. Singing in BL is never gonna be my favorite thing even if they have pipes (which frankly, many of them do not, I'm sorry but there it is).
Oop Kawi's gonna kiss him. He looked way too in love during that song not to. Do you even know what your face is doing, Kawi? Do you?
And there it is. In their matching shirts and everything. And it's another real kiss. What the fuck happened to Krist?
Hahaha oh my god PIsaeng you utter sap.
Looks like it's back to the past next week. Good, because Pear did not deserve that timeline at all.

ive watched most of those shows apart from lbc and had a weird feeling about some of the relationships so im definitely on the right track! (i didn't know about the art situation and just looked it up. wow. i just thought he was overly clingy to gulf when gulf looks like he'd rather be anywhere else half the time) to switch the question round, which dramas do you think are the most realistic/portray relationships the best way. 💛
oh yeah.... the whole situation with art is just. Bad. that's why i have this grudge against m*w. and the fact that, after all that, he chose to portray an assaulter (because what th*rn did to t*pe in the first episodes IS sexual assault.) shows me he learned NOTHING from that and god knows what else he's capable of. i fear for gulf tbh, i don't want him to end up as art did; emotionally scarred and with a career shattered. and this is also why im v v v skeptical with shipping irl actors. you never know what happens behind the cameras.
but !!!! aaaaah this question 🥰 even tho we have A Lot of bad and harmful rep, there's a handful of shows and series who got (most) things Right and delivered a beautiful story!!!!!
i have to start with history3: trapped because it's an all-time favourite, not only in the bl genre, but i would die defending this series. tang yi and shao fei are just SO GOOD ugh i love their relationship so much. the fact that they are both adults???? GOD BLESS! that saved up so much unnecessary conflicts and drama just for the sake of the drama because they Know who they are, what they want and what not. it also saved us from internalized homophobia or just casual homophobic comments here and there, since everyone respected this relationship between two men (the issue was their socials roles, not their sexuality). i love love LOVEEE how they are so so so different and yet find peace and comfort in e/o after building up their trust and trying to understand a bit of the other's world, that are complete opposites. how much shao fei helped tang yi overcome all that happened and find a closure is so beautiful, tang yi needed that someone to show him it's okay to grief, that revenge isn't the answer because the pain will stay there nevertheless and facing that pain together was the way to finally be free from his past that's so dark and difficult. it always gets me how tang yi says "thank you for not giving up on me. thank you for showing me that my existence in this world has a meaning. thank you for loving me." during the last episode to shao fei because, for me, it shows us the great great impact shao fei has in tang yi's life and how important this relationship is to tang yi, who hasn't had someone to love and call home for so long.
theory of love because not every realistic story has to be happy. maybe im biased since third is literally ME, i see so much of myself in him, but. this show man. on GOD. it's just so so good. khai's character development??? it’s great! just how they structured everything and gave us the most heartbreaking pov ever (i cried from ep1 to ep12 NONSTOP) with an amazing acting from all the cast (especially gun king of acting), a v v v relatable story (who hasn't fallen for that one friend u just know won't work out) and a beautiful cinematography (and tbh how could they NOT deliver that when the show is about movie majors amirite). i love how they also broke the mold and said FUCK ENGINEERING LIVES because im so fed up of everyone wanting to become an engineer like what's up with that lmao???? and it's really good for me that, because of all they went through to finally get together and how much both khai and third learned through the process, they can be in a relationship of equals who respect each other, which probably wouldn't be the case if they were the same since episode 1 (khai, the self absorbed asshole who changes gf as if they were clothes, and third, who didn't know his own worth).
until we meet again !!!!! all the couples are good but the one that stood out to me was most definitely intouch and korn. man i get sad just by writing this :( they have such a special place in my heart and it hurts me sooo much whenever i remember what their fate was :(( if we take out all the tragedies (the family drama, mafia heir, how it ended) their relationship is so so so pure :(( intouch is a ball of sunshine and his influence in korn's life was so important :( i find it so beautiful how his love for korn was genuine since day one because he never cared about the rumors or about korn's deadly eyes, he wanted to get to know and love the korn underneath all that, and he succeeded!!! tbh who wouldn't give in to intouch, he's the cutest baby ever! i just love how intouch was the brightest light in korn's dark life and he needed that so so much :( a person he could just breath a little more freely with and feel the love and care he deserves to receive and yearned for. their story is one of the most heartfelt and tragic ones, but still is a great portray of what a good and healthy relationship is (while still being realistic since i doubt being queer in the 80s, esp in thailand, as an easy thing to do)
last but not least 2gether!!!! of course 2gether is here lmao if u scroll two minutes thru my blog all u gonna see is sarawatine. but if there's any couple who fits perfectly the category of soulmates from this list, is sarawat and tine. i promise i'll try to make this as short as i can (watch me fail) hsjdjsjdj sarawatine's relationship development is so..... raw? we see tine slowly falling for sarawat without even being aware of his feelings, and when he does realise them, he doesn't know what to do, but he doesn't shove them to the back of his mind because sarawat is a boy. instead, he tries to make sense of it and understand what is happening between them, especially since tine is the embodiment of insecurity and doesn't want to invest in something he's not sure will work out, while sarawat is just trying not to get hurt. he knows his soulmate is right there in front of him and yet he's also not sure if that can work out. but together they will unfold this beautiful love story that both fought for and sacrificed a bit of themselves in order to achieve and learn a lot from each other, and sarawat will show tine he doesn't need to be someone else in order to be loved because it was for the most genuine version of tine that sarawat fell in love with — that excited boy singing scrubb at the top of his lungs.
OOF OK i guess these are the ones i love the most and have some of the best stories i've seen so far. i'm sorry this is so long but i hope it can entertain you a bit!! and if you feel comfortable, i'd love to chat with you about more stuff!! my dms are always open 💞
