rereading new mutants (1983) and every issue’s just like:

karma - not around for some reason

mirage - perfect leader but also always at least one (1) ref to that racist bullshit about her having a ~natural connection with all animals

cannonball - is nigh invulnerable when blastin’ + country boy

sunspot - “remember, you might be incredibly strong but you’re NOT invulnerable”, “blessed madonna!”

wolfsbane - accent, somehow both is and isn’t the youngest of the gang

magik - alternating between having lesbian thoughts/thinking about how much she loves kitty and being angsting about limbo

cypher - deceptively sarcastic but really just stoked to be there

warlock - befriending inanimate objects, “selfriends”, just 😊

magma - still around for some reason
