Another pile of autistic Crutchie headcanons because I said so >:3 yay!!

Ok I'm gonna start talking about his stims!!

His idle stims are: rocking back and forth, bouncing, clicking his tounge/popping his lips (like pop cat!!), humming/whistling, and sometimes vocal stims

His happy stims are: flapping his hands/fists, basically vibrating because he's squirming so much, spinning/jumping, clapping his hands, vocal stims ("eee!!" and "bababa!!" mostly)

His upset/anxious stims are: biting his nails/hands, chewing his lips/skin/sleeves, scratching/picking at his skin, rocking back and forth, flapping his fists, stretching his hands, tugging his hair, vocal stims (repeating words/phrases), generally being really fidgety

Frustrated/mad stims: balling his hands into fists really tight, digging his nails into his wrists, hitting his head, biting his nails/hands, scratching his scalp/arms

He also loves visually stimming!! Sometimes he watches Jack paint/draw and it's really relaxing for him

Moving on!!

He has a lot of social difficulty, but some of it is things he can hide pretty well

He has a lot of trouble understanding people's tone correctly and often misses/misunderstands jokes and sarcasm

He also has really bad RSD, and that coupled with struggling to understand people's tone isn't a great pair

He has really strong emotions and tends to "overreact" to small things, but it's not really something he can control

However, he usually forces a smile and bottles up his feelings so no one really notices :(

He tends to do so because he has a lot of trouble understanding, communicating, and coping with his emotions

He just tries to avoid them instead of trying to understand them, which leads to meltdowns every now and again over seemingly pointless things

That being said, his meltdowns are really rough

Instead of taking his emotions out on others, he takes it out on himself, so he usually needs someone to keep an eye on him when he's having a meltdown

Along with that, he goes nonverbal really easy when he's upset (partially because of his autism, but also PTSD and other mental health issues)

When he's nonverbal, he usually communicates through either writing on paper, or using ASL if the person he's trying to talk to knows it

(Davey actually taught him ASL just for that!! That's kinda unrelated to this though)

Moving on!! (Again)

He's very sensitive to loud noises (again, partially due to his autism, but also PTSD and other mental health issues)

They scare him really bad and overwhelm him really easily

Sometimes he can't even stay in the lodge when everyone's hanging out because it's all too overwhelming for him (part of the reason why he sleeps on the fire escape, other than just hanging out with Jack there)

Along with that, he has sensory overloads pretty often because because of how easily he gets overwhelmed

When he does end up having one, he usually finds somewhere quiet, curls up in a little ball, and covers his ears to try and drown out the noise

If he can, he'll just stim for a little bit and hug a pillow or something to try and calm himself down

You can just tell when he's overwhelmed too

He gets really fidgety and panicky

And he'll cover his ears and flinch at the slightest sounds

Moving onto happier things!!

His special interest is plants!!! He loves to infodump about them

He keeps a few plants up on the fire escape and takes care of them there

He names all of them too !! They're like his little children

He also asks Davey to teach him about plants sometimes!! Because Davey knows a lot about them and is always happy to infodump as well

So now Crutchie just knows a ton of useless plant facts and sometimes he brings them up out of nowhere. Just for fun!!

His other special interest is space!!

He also asks Davey to teach him about it a lot, so he knows a lot about stars and planets and stuff

That's another one of the reasons he likes sleeping on the fire escape, he likes sleeping under the stars !!

(Even though he kinda does live in the city so he probably wouldn't see them but shh just pretend he can)

Along with the special interest thing kinda, he doesn't hyperfixtate very easily, but when he does? It's a full on obsession

And it lasts a really long time too!! Usually a few months

He really loves to talk about his interests, he's really passionate about them!!!

He gets so excited when people let him infodump about them!! He'll talk for hours

And eventually he'll be like "wait sorry am I being annoying? I'm sorry I'll just be quiet now" :(

Just reassure him it's ok and he'll just talk endlessly

Once he starts to trust you he'll infodump to you all the time because "I like you!! And this thing makes me happy!! So I hope you'll like it too!!"

UH!! Ok I'll stop there before this post gets too long- but zkdgsjgdjsgd yeah !! Autistic Crutchie is one of my favorite headcanons can you tell-
