To the rescue!
Alexandra's team was on the boat getting ready for their last dive in that territory, checking their equipment to make sure that there wouldn't be any problems.
Their ask was to check on some corals that were under control. Easy, right?
Well, at first yes. It all went well.
They dive down to the corals, the water was pretty deep and it was even deeper where there weren't any other corals that they had to check.
Alex and her dive buddy were... not so friendly towards each other in that period. But for being young adults, they were mature and they knew that if something went wrong, they had to collab to not end up dead in the ocean.
So they made this agreement and they were all good.
Or at least that's what she thought.
They stayed under the water for a pretty long time, noting everything on their waterproof notepads. They also saw some fish swimming in that zone.
When everyone was low on air, it was time they had to go up.
Alex's dive buddy makes her a thumbs up, telling her to get on the boat.
The young woman being distracted with the wonderful world underwater didn't even notice that it was time to go. So she checked her air on her divecomputer and it was a little bit low.
But Alexandra was not done finishing her work, so she pointed at him and then made a thumbs up to tell him to go without her.
And that was her biggest mistake. It was even her buddy's mistake because instead of insisting to go up together, he just shrugged and leaved her.
Then the current started to increase. Strange, when they checked if there was to be any current they saw that the sea was supposed to be calm that day...
So after that, Alex decided to go up. She saw from afar that her teammates were doing the same, while others where already at the top doing some decompression safety stop. Near them was her dive buddy.
But when she took her last glance at the coral reef, she saw a turtle that was struggling to swim. So Alex started swimming towards it.
She saw that a fishing net was around its fin and now also around some corals, making the turtle unable to move.
The young woman took her diving knife and then started to cut first the net around the turtle's fin. She had to be very careful since the net was tightly wrapped around it. That must be feeling painful, poor guy.
After the turtle was free, it swimmed happly away and Alex waved slightly at it; putting the net in her little bag. She then looked at the coral and started carefully cutting the net from it.
In the mean time, the current started to increase by a lot, making it difficult to stay in place.
But Alex didn't want to go up after she cut all the net from the coral. It was difficult, because the current kept moving her to the side.
She tried her best not to kick with her fins on the corals under her and by doing that, she failed in remaining still.
The current increased enormously and Alex was trying her best not to go too far from the boat.
Then when she tried to swim up, she notices that it was very difficult to do so. And then she realized:
She was cought in a down current.
Water kept pushing her far and down while she tried to swim against it. It was exhausting.
She tried to keep her breath steady to not consume any more air, but it was nearly impossible since she was doing so much work with her legs and she also started to panick a bit.
She couldn't even hold her breath to avoid using more air, because doing so was very dangerous. She must continue to breath underwater no matter what.
While she was kicking hard to try going against the current, she checked her divecomputer and she was dangerously low on air.
She snapped her head towards her dive buddy that now, was very far from her. That bastard! He didn't even bother checking if his dive buddy was coming up. And she couldn't even see her other teammates!
So she understood that she had to go through this alone.
She tried to hold herself by grabbing some corals and rocks, but she kept slipping from them and also sadly breaking some of the fragile and sick corals.
She thought to put more air in her BC, but then it would've costed her some precious air. And as said before, she couldn't even hold her breath under that depth.
She then thought to put just a little bit of air in her BC and then taking off her weight belt, but even that would've been dangerous. She could've popped out from the water like a ball after you forcefully put it underwater! And she wouldn't even be able to do a decompression safety stop, causing her decompression sickness.
While she thought of that, her legs started to slow down for exhaustion and the very strong current kept dragging her far and deep from the boat; into the depht of the ocean.
She was officially panicking, favoring to the fact of her breathing faster and consuming more and more air.
She checked one more time her dive computer and saw that the tank was almost empty.
Tears of fear started creating in her eyes. She was starting to feel dizzy from the panicking and the exhaustion.
When her head started spinning, she thought 'fuck it' and decided to put some air in her BC. With the little air that remained, she took one last short breath and put the rest in her BC.
This situation was extremely dangerous.
Her vision started to black out when she tried to reach for her weight belt.
Before she could've even do it, all of her strenght leaved her body and all she saw was black.
She let the current dragging her far and deep.
It was the end for her. She fucked up really bad this time, but no one could've scold her after hearing from her this absurd story.
Because dead men tell no tales. (See what I did there? R e f e r e n c e)
----
Alexandra had still her eyes closed, but she felt weird. Like she was out of the water and she felt... warm?
Is this what the afterlife was like? Weird and warm?
Alex then tried to process if she was standing up in front of the heaven's door or laying on the ground. Or perhaps... sand?
She even heard the waves crushing on the shore. So she felt warm, sand under her hands and waves. Huh. Heaven must take in your favourite place to go apparently.
She then heared some voices, but she couldn't understand what they were saying. Maybe they were the angles.
Alex's vision slowly went from black to red, due to the light passing through her eyelids. She squeezed them and managed to move her head a little.
Then she heard like something was dragged on the sand, and then heard a voice saying something.
Alex heard some other dragging on the sand and other noises coming towards her, before slowly opening her eyes, regretting instantly doing so for the strong light.
Before shutting them again, she saw some strange figures towering on her. Damn those angels were massive.
She fluttered again her eyes open, weakly bringing her hand towards her face to rubbing one of them.
When she finally decided to give them a better look, that's when she realized that maybe those weren't angels.
They were mermans.
She widened her eyes and slowly moved from a laying position to a sitting one. But she then started coughing.
While she was doing that, the red-headed merman patted her back to help her cough out all of the water.
In the mean time, the others speaked to her telling their names and what happened.
There was even a seal!
And those mermans where huge. Like, okay she had a little body in the first place, but damn these guys were big.
They told Alex that they saw her sinking to the bottom, so they picked her up and brought her there.
They didn't brought her to her crew, because it was too risky for them, but hey at least she was alive!
She was alive...
At the thought, Alex started crying from happiness. The silver-haired merman named Polnareff approached her and hugged her.
But then she asked why they saved her. The older merman simply said that they saw how she treated the marine life in these days that she was here. She was so kind a gentle. Man that day she even risked her life for saving that turtle and remove the fishing net from the corals!
They understood that she was part of that little slice of "good humans", so letting her die when they could've saved her seemed a waste.
She thought that no one deserved to die, especially in a scary way that she experienced. But at least she was glad that she was still alive.
They asked her what happened, and even if she doubted that they knew how the diving gear worked, she told them anyways about what she experienced.
But then it clicked: where the hell was she and how she'll get home? The mermans at that reassured her that she wasn't so far from the land lived by people.
Of course her crew would've be panicking, but they couldn't go dive again and search for her that same day. Following that, they might've have thought that she was dead or that the strong current brought her away.
Either way, someone had to search for her. But how much time could've that take? Maybe tomorrow she'll be home? Will it take some days, weeks? Will they even find her? Would her crew even report that she was missing?
The young woman started to worry and she slighty breathed heavier than before. The ravenette merman named Jotaro noticed that and said to her to stop worring. He reminded her that they weren't so far from land, so sooner or later someone that fished in that zone would've spotted her and helped her.
Polnareff then suggested to take her directly where the other humans lived, but the dark skinned merman named Abdul responded saying that it was too dangerous; he then said that waiting was the best option. He finally said that they could've helped her by bringing her food while she waited for someone to come and rescue her.
After some other arguments, they sticked up to Jotaro and Abdul's plan.
Since Alex started her dive early in the morning, it was just late afternoon in that moment. The sun was close to setting, but it was still there making light and making warmth.
And since it was hot, she decided to take off her wetsuit and to remain just in her bikini. Polnareff was immediately fascinated by her smooth legs, and so he started being his flirty self; making the other sigh and laugh.
Their time together on that island passed with talking, laughing and knowing eachother. All good memories.
She slept on the sand and even if she told the mermans that she will be alright during the night, they insisted on taking turns to stay with her while she rested and recovered.
The next evening, fortunately, Alex was rescued and brought to her crew.
The young woman and her dive buddy made peace with eachother and they promised to not make any other mistakes in the future.
But it wasn't a goodbye for Alex and the mermans, since they promised to see eachother again.
And as it said, it happened.
★★★★
Idk about you guys, but the draw that I've made + knowing that they looking at Alex layed on the sand kinda reminds me of this photo

monkee see, monkee do | luce & willow
TIMING: before mother’s day. PARTIES:  @divineluce and @willcwthewisp. SUMMARY: two artists meet a new challenger. OH YEAH!
Washing her hands in the sink, Luce looked around at her cabin with a wistful sigh. She’d had a handful of tourists book it over the last few weeks, which was helpful. But, she missed living here. She missed quiet nights with Iggy, a fire in the grate, working on a new design or practicing some of her more precise manipulations of the flame. She missed the comfortable solitude of it all, back when she was… herself. Letting out a sigh, Luce locked up the cabin. But, instead of getting back into her Jeep, she went into the woods, following the familiar trails. She missed being able to just throw herself into the woods. But the forest wasn’t the same for her, not anymore. She’d destroyed it, burned it, had some angry spirit of the forest confront her with that fact. Maybe she’d go back to the grove she’d burnt down today. Check how it was.
As Luce moved deeper into the forest, the earth beneath her feet began to shift, becoming soft and loamy. Frowning, she glanced around and was startled to see-- “What the fuck..?” She said as a strangely animated looking river began to flow through the trees. Animated as in like, it looked as though a fucking 90’s Disney artist had drawn this shit. But the water soaking through her boots was very real. As was the scream that rang through the air.
One moment, Willow had been taking a solitary walk along the edge of White Crest’s Outskirts and the next she’d found herself careening down a watery pathway. The river had appeared out of seemingly nowhere, and the only warning she’d had of anything mysterious being afoot had been the sudden appearance of a cute, monkey looking creature. It had even been holding its tail between it’s little paws as if it were nervous or something of that like. She’d blinked, and next thing she’d known her clothes were wet, and she was sputtering amongst the throes of a gushing river. “Help!” she yelled out frantically. There was no reason for her to think that someone might hear her cries, but what else was there for her to do but seek assistance? The river wound its way downhill, and a nearly inhumane scream wrenched itself from her lips. “Help! I can’t- the river- it just-” For the brief moment her head was above water, she managed to make out a human shape along the banks of the water, and made her best effort to swim towards it. “The monkey! Where’s the monkey?!” Why she cared about a strange little monkey at a time like this, she couldn’t say.
As Luce watched the strangely textured water flow through the trees, she saw that there was a monkey creature, tapping its chin thoughtfully as it bobbed up and down on a flamingo inner tube that had the same dark lines as the water. “Fucking, of course. Saetimps.” She rolled her eyes before turning her attention to the woman who was yelling and trying to swim-- badly, it looked-- to the edge of the river. Gritting her teeth, Luce waded out into the water and held out her hand as far as she could reach, “C’mon, get over here! Before that thing whips out a shark or something.” She yelled. As she said that, she could practically feel the Saetimp’s eyes turn onto her and she watched to her dismay, as it drew a very Little Mermaid-esque looking shark that flopped into the water and began to swim towards them. “Shit, shit, shit, let’s go, dry land, right now!” She yelled, dragging the woman behind her as she pushed her way through the river back to the dry forest floor.
Willow grabbed for the other woman’s arm in desperation, clutching onto it as if it were her only lifeline in the world. For all she knew, it was. As she was yoinked from the river, her chest heaved with the effort of her panicked breaths, eyes almost impossibly wide as she watched the newly drawn shark circling beneath her and the other woman. “What’s wrong with it?” she nearly screeched, referring to the strangest monkey she’d encountered in her entire life. “Sharks aren’t even native to rivers!” she yelled, as if the Saetimp cared anything about that. “Or well- there’s a species of river shark but- that does not look like one of them!” Apparently the hell monkey took insult to this, and soon enough an accurate river shark had joined the other in the waters. But it didn’t matter anymore. Willow and the other girl had made it to dry land. “At least they can’t get us here,” the medium breathed, trying to catch her breath. “It’s not like they could grow legs or something.” Yet again, the Saetimp took this as a personal challenge, and in a blink of her eyes the sharks were suddenly crawling up the side of the bank, strange, arm-like legs protruding from their bodies as they crab-walked closer. “No!” Willow denied, as if she could forcefully put them back. “No! That’s not right! Go back!”
Holding on tight, Luce hauled the woman out of the animated rapids, shaking water from her face in an effort to get a clear look at just what was going on. The fucking Saetimp was watching them with that same stupid look on its face, tapping its paintbrush against the side of its inner tube. And when the woman spoke up, Luce’s eyes widened as the sharks began to sprout legs with hands attached to them. “You just had to fucking say something!” She said, glancing around them. The woods were thick with tree roots that made running nearly impossible. And the water, it was rising and rising. But, the Saetimp was still scratching its head as though it still didn’t like the scene it’d created. She’d seen that expression before-- not on a magic monkey before, but she’d seen it often enough. “Oh no! What would we do if there were attack hamsters!” She said, shouting the first thing that came to mind. Apparently, she’d spent too much time with Hamtarot, because that’s what came out. The Saetimp seemed just as confused as her, but suddenly the water was full of fuzzy creatures in mechanized hamster balls. The arm-legged sharks began to snap at the brightly colored hamster balls, distracted for a moment. “You got any other ideas?” She asked the woman.
“What?!” Willow exclaimed as the other woman spoke of hamsters, briefly looking towards her as if the unknowing savior had lost her mind. “Ideas? Why would I want to give it more ideas?” But as she watched she realized the hamsters had served a purpose, and the purpose was actually working out quite well for her and the brunette. “They...like the hamsters?” she asked with a nonplussed look on her face, beginning to connect the dots when it came to more things being drawn as a means of buying them time. “Oh...oh!” she began excitedly, trying to name the first thing that came to mind. “And if there were books with teeth? Ones that could chomp and crack hamster balls? That’d be really bad!” Sure enough the Saetimp began to draw just that, the books gnashing their way through the hamsters that were trying to make their way through the sharks. “Oh that’s...I mean they were a little cute, weren’t they?” she asked the woman standing next to her, suddenly feeling a little guilty for the little fuzzy creatures.
Watching with dismay and irritation as half a dozen toothy books fell into the river, Luce watched as the animated little hamster balls began to sink in the waves. “No, don’t give it more weapons, Jesus.” But, it seemed as though it was working. The hamster balls were being crushed and the sharks were snarling, distracted by the fuzzy little creatures swimming around. Were they carrying tiny knives? Luce watched as one of the hamsters let out a tiny Rambo yell and launched itself at a leggy shark, stabbing twin bowie knives into the shark’s fin. “They’ve got tiny knives too. Wow. I mean, they’re cute if you like getting shanked?” Luce said, squinting at the very confusing fray. Meanwhile, the Saetimp had noticed that the chaos it had created had missed the mark-- it hadn’t killed either of them. Seeing the frustrated look on its face, Luce grasped at straws, “Oh boy, I’m so afraid of… the fucking… Kool-aid man! Yep! Super afraid of him. Boy, it’d be shitty if he popped up!” The Saetimp glared at her and for a moment, Luce was afraid that it’d just draw a pit with spikes in the bottom and she’d get turned into a kebab. But then, exploding out of the water with a loud “OH YEAH” was… the fucking Kool-aid Man. Looking over at the woman, Luce shrugged helplessly, “Listen, I didn’t hear any other better ideas. We can take the Kool-Aid man, right?”
Willow screamed as the Kool-Aid man himself popped out of the water, and her rampant telekinesis was quick to respond to the jump-scare of the century, even though she wasn’t realistically all that afraid of the oversized punch pitcher. One of the sharks was suddenly launched into the glass side of the Kool-Aid Man teeth first, leaving a shark-sized hole in its wake as red punch began to spill into the river. Sure— there’d been a couple of nightmares she’d had about him bursting through her wall as a kid and getting stuck in his big head of punch, but she was thirty-two now! She shouldn’t be afraid of the Kool-Aid Man. But he was just so big. Not to mention unpredictable. Nevertheless this felt like a victory for her four-year-old self. “Ah- if that’s what you meant by taking the Kool-Aid Man, sure!” Nevermind that it hadn’t exactly been intentional. What next? What else could they make this thing draw? Or maybe...what was the thing artists hated most? Ignorant critique, wasn’t it? Unfortunately Willow’s mean streak was about a centimeter wide, but that didn’t stop her from doing her best to frustrate the Saetimp. “You call- you call that a Kool-Aid Man?” she tried to goad despite her stammering. “My grandma could draw a better one!” She could have sworn the monkey turned a shade that was almost as red as the pitcher it had drawn, and in an instant it was trying to pop out another, better one.
Flinching at the loud shriek, Luce glanced over at the woman for a moment before a loud shattering sound filled the air. What the fuck? Had that shark just been yeeted through the Kool-Aid Man? What the fuck? Luce stared back at the woman-- was she some kind of psychic? Or, fuck, hadn’t Peanut done something like that before? A medium? Whatever, it didn’t really matter. As the woman yelled at the Saetimp, Luce rolled her eyes. At least the creature wasn’t bright, because it took the bait hook line and sinker. “Yeah, look at those lines! They’re so thick and wobbly, I wouldn’t even want that hanging up on my fridge!” She said, gesturing to the shattered Kool-Aid Man that was thrashing in the water, now being devoured by sharks. The river was still flowing through and the Saetimp was steadily being taken down stream, but she wanted this thing gone. “I bet you couldn’t draw anything with real detail. Like-- Like a yacht! You wouldn’t even know where the sails go!” Did yachts have sails? Who fucking knew, but Luce had a feeling the Saetimp sure didn’t.
Willow laughed despite herself, the mental image of the mess of drawings on a fridge tipping her over the edge when it came to finding humor is as ridiculous a situation as this. And Luce had been right about the Saetimp’s lack of nautical knowledge. Even now it was drawing some sails attached to the smokestacks of a very strange looking yacht. “That’s not where the sails go!” Willow called out, trying to figure out how they might tangle this Saetimp in its own drawings. Would it just...get tired after a while or something? “Plus it needs bigger sails! Sails as tall as the trees!” Willow’s arms raised above her head as if she could personally model how tall a tree was. After all, it was a part of her namesake. “A big willow tree with lots of branches and birds, and- and monkeys!” Maybe a self-portrait would send the creature into a downwards shame spiral.
It seemed like the Saetimp was at its last wits, creative juices sputtering out as it muddled its way through adding an absolutely atrocious willow tree, with lumpy, ugly monkeys with their hands fused to its branches. “Jesus fucking christ, that’s horrifying.” Luce muttered as she watched the potato shaped monkeys screamed angrily at them from the deck of the yacht/steamboat/pirate ship that was sailing down the river. Just as she was about to wrack her brains for more ideas to feed the Saetimp, she watched as the creature threw its paintbrush down in disgust and stamped its foot on the deck of the yacht. As it did so, the yacht continued to sail down the river, lumpy looking monkeys screeching as the boat disappeared from view. Luce sank to the ground and let out a long sigh. “Good fucking christ.” She said, wringing out her water logged clothes. “You good?”
Willow looked at the abomination of a creation in slight wonder, head tilted in interest as she tried to make sense of what the monkey had drawn. As she watched the monkeys with their hands stuck to the tree she felt a small stab of guilt in her gut. They weren’t...real monkeys in the way a normal one would be right? They wouldn’t actually suffer while being trapped against the tree? But at least the head monkey was gone, and the two girls could finally have peace. Except… “Isn’t the monkey and everything just going to run into someone else down the river?” Nevertheless, she settled herself onto the ground as well, suddenly tired after swimming in the currents of the river. “Um- I’m fine. Are you?” Now that the monkey was gone, she could recover decently well, instead of letting her panic overtake her. “Thank you though- for helping me. I’d probably still be going down the river if it wasn’t for you.” Willow’s doe-eyed gaze filled with gratitude as she finally took in the other girl, trying to figure out why she looked somewhat familiar.
“It might. But, I have a feeling that guy’s gonna be tired out enough after making all of that. He’ll probably pass out in a hammock somewhere.” Luce said as she squeezed water from the ends of her hair. She was really only guessing; she’d never really interacted with Saetimps before. Most of what she knew about them came from her general interest in the strange Fae when she was younger. But, she’d never really looked for them around town. “Just peachy.” Luce replied as she stood up, her clothes damp and uncomfortable against her warm skin. “No problem.” Luce said slowly, a bit caught off guard by the way that the other woman was staring at her. What, did the Saetimp draw something on her face? “I’m Luce, by the way.” She said with a nod.
“I hope so…” Willow trailed off, trying not to think too hard about the future harm the strange monkey could bring to people. It wasn’t as if she could do anything about it, anyway. She was no hunter, and she wasn’t sure she had the stomach to sign something’s death warrant anyway. Willow made her own efforts to get the water off her clothes, still disappointedly wet and dripping by the time she was finished. Shaking her hands with a sigh, she tried to look at the bright side of the situation. At least they were...in one piece? The girl's name finally struck the bell that had been faintly ringing in Willow’s head, and recognition lit her eyes. “Bea’s your sister, right?” She chose the phrasing carefully, knowing how annoying it was when people asked if she was Forest’s sister and not the other way around. “I was friends with her for a while until…” Forest had made a mess of things. “Well- it doesn’t matter, I just knew her. But really- thank you for helping me,” she repeated, already thinking about the pile of blankets she wanted to tunnel under one she got home.
At the mention of her sister, Luce’s eyes narrowed slightly-- not as harshly as they might have a year ago, but she was confused all the same. “Yeah. She is.” Luce said with a slow nod, now eying the woman with earnest. Blonde, honestly pretty basic looking, about Bea’s age. Which made sense if she said that they were friends for a bit. A girl on the cheer team? No, that couldn’t be it. Luce would have known her-- she’d “reluctantly” waited on the sidelines during Bea’s many cheer practices. She recognized most of the girls who’d been on the team back then, the result of stealing glances up over her sketchbook. But, this girl definitely wasn’t one of them. Hm-- “Hang on. You’re Willow, right? Fo--” Forest’s sister, she almost said, but caught herself quickly, “Finch. Willow Finch. You had that art studio in town.” She said, remembering how envious she’d been when the place had first opened.
Curiosity tempered slightly by how reluctant Willow seemed, Luce nodded again, “No problem.” She repeated. “I’ve dealt with worse out here.” She jerked a thumb over her shoulder. “I have a cabin up here. Do you… want to borrow a towel or something?” She asked belatedly, realizing she probably should have offered sooner.
Willow shifted uncertainly under Luce’s gaze, not entirely certain what it was the other woman was looking for until she finally came up with the medium’s name. “Oh- yes! I’m Willow,” she realized sheepishly that she’d forgotten to give her name in return when Luce had offered her own. “Sorry- I guess I just got caught up in recognizing you.” For a moment Willow brightened at the mention of her studio, but an instant later the gleam had dulled into disappointment and regret as she nodded confirmation. “Yes- the one that closed a few months ago. It was the one with the gallery in the front, and then I had my studio in the back.” But that was long gone, a dream broken just like she’d broken that man’s arm. She was curious about Luce’s reasoning for asking after the gallery, but decided that was a conversation that could wait for when they were both nicely dry.
A vigorous shake of Willow’s head served as her initial answer to Luce’s invitation, already feeling rather squirrly the longer she stood here with Luce, accurately aware of all the things that could go wrong if her telekinesis decided to flex its muscles. “Oh no- no, thank you. I mean thank you, but I really should go home.”
“Yeah. I just said that.” Luce nodded, a bit of her old sense of humor trickling back into her tone as she regarded the woman. “And don’t worry. Not a lot of people from high school recognize me.” She said with a shrug. She’d always been quiet in school and, outside of a few people she was friendly with in her art classes, no one remembered her as anything other than “Bea Vural’s younger sister.” A lot of people didn’t put together the fact that the moody girl who doodled in the back of class was now a heavily tattooed artist at Ink Inc. “It’s a bummer it closed down. I wanted to take a look at the gallery but,” Life went off the rails for the past year, “I never got the chance. Sucks, though.” She said offhandedly.
The amount of nervous energy coming off Willow was really something else-- Luce was distinctly reminded of the shivery looking Chihuahua on the old Taco Bell commercials. Raising an eyebrow, Luce raised her hands in surrender. “Suit yourself. Stay safe out there.” She said before heading back in the direction of her cabin, boots squishing noisily as she walked. It just had to draw up a river, didn’t it? Fucking Saetimps.
Willow was trying to make sense of whether or not Luce was joking with a tired mind, deciding to play it safe and simply shoot the other girl a tentative smile. “I don’t think we actually went to highschool together. Just missed each other or something like that. And um- well it’s been a while, right?” She didn’t want the other girl thinking she’d been unmemorable or something as depressing as that, and she vaguely remembered Bea saying something about how Luce would be entering her freshman year once Willow graduated all those years ago. “Or...Bea is Luce’s older sister?” Willow tried to offer kindly with a gentle hint of a joke, knowing how frustrating it could be to only be known by a sibling’s name at times. A sigh of relief escaped Willow when Luce didn’t push the subject of the cabin, and she too began her trek home. “Thanks- you too!” At least the only things she’s thrown today were badly drawn sharks.

HC: Dying Your Hair (Ft. Cor)
Sidenote: I dye my hair dark blue and these were born out of me waiting for my damn dye to sit for two hours. Enjoy.
Noctis
He paid no mind the one time you mentioned you wanted to dye your hair, just shrugged it off and never gave it a second thought
When you came home with a small container of hair dye, he was a little concerned but once again shrugged it off
Now, when he saw you standing in the bathroom with a towel around your shoulders, vinyl gloves on, hair prelightened, and dipping a paint brush into the same container of hair dye from earlier, he found it a little difficult to simply shrug it off as he had done before
Instead, he blankly stared at you while you started to cover your hair with the funny smelling goop
After a minute of staring in confusion, he walked off (yes, he did so tall), spending no more than five minutes wondering about it
In the end, he was slightly surprised, but he thought it was damn cool
He also loved the fuck out of it, even tho he never said anything beyond “Yeah, it’s cool, I like it”
Behind your back, he would rub it in the other bro’s faces and talk about how awesome it was
It would make part of him want to dye his own hair for a solid 27 seconds before he dismissed the idea as too much effort
He pays for the rest of your hair dye btw and never says a word of it
Whenever there’s a big official, formal thing he has to go to, he’ll take you as his date and match his tie to your hair (he never says a word about it either)
And whenever you dye your hair a new color, it starts a new hair color trend in Insomnia
In case you were dyeing your hair before you guys were together/knew each other: he thought it was cool but didn’t care too much tbh, he just goes with the flow (although he sometimes thinks about it for a solid like five mins)
Prompto
The second you said you wanted to dye your hair, Prompto was bouncing in his seat and throwing colors at you faster than you could say “Ardyn’s a Fuckwad”
He would talk about it to the other bros nonstop, “omg guys, Y/N is dyeing their hair omg did i tell you that”
When you finally got around to doing it, he would insist on helping only to get hair dye everywhere (including on himself)
When he got hair dye in his own bangs by accident, you had to dismiss him with a kiss on his cheek and remind him that you love him but he has to wait outside
The dye stained his hair btw. You guys have matching hair now. Well, your hair and part of his at least
Sometimes, during training with Cor or Gladio, he’ll just gush about how cool you are and how much the color suits you
Cor kept trying to remind him to keep his head straight and finally had to dismiss sparring early cause Prompto nearly took his own head off
Gladio usually just yells at Prompto instead though and threatens to cut the accidentally-dyed part of Prompto’s hair off if he doesn’t focus (it works like a charm)
In summary, Prompto thinks it’s the coolest thing in the world and he loves you even more for it, also he’s probably more excited than you are
Sometimes he runs up to you with an eager, “Babe! Babe! BAbe!!!” only to show you cool hair colors and styles that he found (that he also wants you to do on your own hair, bless)
In the event that you were already dyeing your hair before you guys were a thing: he thinks it makes you the coolest person in the world and he excitedly asks you like 50 questions about dyeing hair (it is so fucking cute, god bless)
Oh, he loves watching you put dye in your hair btw
When he finds out that the bleaching process is a lil bit painful, he actually started begging for you to stop doing it (it was super heartwarming but a tad bit annoying)
Gladio
He didn’t think you’d actually dye your hair, but he didn’t care too much in the first place
But when you actually do it…
He thinks it’s the hottest thing ever
Like, he loved you to begin with of course, and he thought you were wonderfully hot and gorgeous but, you dying your hair was like a new pokemon evolution
He didn’t think you could get hotter, then you dyed your hair
He likes to run his hands through the unnatural colored strands of hair
I will tell you one thing: it’s a good thing the chemical smell wears off tho, ‘cause he fucking hates it
He once said it smelled like it could give you cancer
Much like Noctis, he loves it more than he realized he would and silently prays that you’ll keep dyeing it
When he told Iris, she actually started to help you dye your hair (it was so much easier when she started helping too, bless)
Sometimes, you’d find him zoned out and just staring at your hair in the evenings with an odd look on his face
It was pretty cute, so you never said anything
He’d also give you nicknames on the colors that you’d use
My personal favorites are, “Spitfire” for that bright red you used, “Lemon” for the one time you were blonde for a week, and “Ariel” for that mermaid blue he loved so much
And if you dyed your hair regularly before you guys even met: your hair stuck out to him for a solid second before he got used to it and treated you the exact same as anyone else, and yes, he did think it was hot
Also, sometimes he goes with you when you go to get your roots redone, and when he realizes that the bleach actually stings (and makes your eyes burn a lil bit), he’s lowkey horrified but impressed
Ignis
You mentioned it in passing, which made him a tad bit concerned
When you actually went out to purchase the dye and started looking for someone to lighten your hair first, he realized you were gonna go through with it
He respected your desire to dye your hair, but he didn’t agree with it (he thought it was too unprofessional)
Still tho, he loved and respected you, and as a result, he didn’t want you to do something you’d regret or damage your hair in any way
So, of course, he looked into it
He did research on brands, salons, coloring styles, which colors last longer, etc
Basically, you didn’t have to lift a finger
Hell, when you decided to put the legit dye in at home, he pulled on a pair of gloves and an apron, sat you down in a chair, and applied the dye himself (he did a fantastic job btw)
He made himself your personal hair colorer, and hot damn he was good (plus whenever he rinsed the dye out, he gave you a mini scalp massage so that alone made it the best thing ever)
Just like the others, he realized he really fuckin liked your new hair color. Then again, it’s Iggy, so he’d probs like your new hair if you shaved it all off, just ‘cause he loved every you look you get
He made sure to give you deep conditioning treatments and such so the bleach didn’t ruin your hair completely, and whenever your hair dye started fading, he would jump right on redyeing it
The man took better care of your hair than his own, hell, he even loved to just brush it and run his fingers through the newly dyed locks (his newfound obsession with your hair was surprising to everyone, including himself)
And if you were dyeing your hair before you guys met: when he first met you, he thought it was odd and he had some questions, so as you guys got to know each other he would politely ask questions about your hair (not before doing a lot of research tho)
Bonus! Cor
He brushed off your comment when you talked about dyeing your hair cause… to put it bluntly, Cor doesn’t care much. He’s a firm believer of “your life, your decisions”
Still, he is curious
He wondered what made you want to dye your hair, and he wondered what color
Still, his life doesn’t have surprises too often, so he doesn’t ask about the color (your relationship with him was probably the first surprise he’d had in years)
So imagine his surprise when he comes home after a long day only to see you with bright, light blue hair
You claimed it was to match his eyes (it was btw. Partly cause you couldn’t decide on a color, but he doesn’t need to know that)
It made him blush a lil bit (he loves it btw)
He didn’t think someone changing their hair color would be a big deal, but to him it kinda was, just ‘cause he’s Cor, and for the most part, his life is pretty static at his age
But honestly, the only way you could tell he even noticed was the very slight widening of his eyes and the dumb, cute smile he wore when he walked past you
The day after, he totally tells Clarus alllll about it
The next day, the recruits he’s training are lucky, ‘cause you bet your ass he’s gonna be thinking about you and your new hair the entire time, so he’s just a bit lax on them
I will tell you tho, he’s slightly annoyed at the blue strands of hair that start popping up
Like before, he could ignore your strands of hair that appear around the apartment, but now, they’re bright blue and impossible to ignore
He still loves you tho, and your new hair
At night when you guys are going to sleep, he likes to stare at your bright blue hair in the dark and just think about how much he loves you
Whenever he has some free time in his office, he likes to think about what you would look like with different hair dyes  (he doesn’t get very much free time tho)
Even when you switch your hair dye colors, you always keep one section of your hair that same, bright, light blue, just so you can match his eyes (the first time you did that, he almost cried)
It makes him smile every time he looks at it and he can’t help but give you a soft, loving kiss as he reminds himself of how lucky he is to have a SO who’s that precious and loving
