tbh im not entirely opposed to wolfwood dying, but i personally really wanna squiggle in him doing smth w vash to like help him mentally/emotionally (?) bc i think a lot of vash's actions are him kind of just having a duty to deal with knives..? and it doesn't feel like vash ever truly forgives himself, just has to neutrally move on bc rem has at least instilled in him the value of the future, but i think he applies it the most to others, still not himself, and even w him choosing livio over legato, theres not enough focus on that either to me. idk if its weird to want ww for that role, but meryl and milly are nowhere near him, livio is too new imo, so i'm like... let them help each other in a deeper way 🥺 they pass their qualities between each other a ton, but i think canonically w nick dying while acting as vash would have, thats definitely a final action lol

okay so like. theres a part of me that wants to say smth like 'after all his promises and morals, vash just kills knives? whats the point then!' but. ive been left FLOORED and still think its really good so lets think about this some more. like its not unsatisfying at all; let me figure out why. this might get a little stream of consciousness
i think the penultimate episode where vash struggles to come to terms with having killed legato is crucial here. he comes into the episode shaken; no one has the right to take the life of another, regardless of what they do, he's stopped living up to rem's ideals, he's killed a man and even though legato was a killer, even though milly and meryl and the townspeople would have died if vash hadnt killed him, theres smth in vash thats screaming out that its NOT RIGHT. that its a mistake. but then vash ackowledges that, and its through making the mistake that he finds his peace with what he's done; everyone makes mistakes, and as long as you keep trying to do better next time, youre still okay. and like.... that on its OWN still doesnt sit right w vash killing knives, but hold on! theres another layer
because whats REALLY important here i think is that vash is acknowledging that hes ALLOWED to make a mistake. and i think something much much deeper clicks here; this is the point where vash shifts from 'plant/superior being who preaches kindness, can always find another way out, and refuses to break his morals' to 'human who can and does make mistakes, and isnt any better than anyone else.' for as much as vash loves humanity and has tried to live among them, theres been heavy themes that hes NOT one of them throughout the show, even before its more explicitly revealed. humanoid typhoon. angel. plant. act of god. knives is so clearly out of touch with humanity, and embraces it, but vash is just as bad; hes just trying to pretend hes human. half his smiles are fake. his haircut is one rem gave him. one of his arms is a prosthetic and the other turns into a plant gun that destroys cities overnight and puts a hole in the moon. he doesnt BELONG.... until he does!
going back a step further here. wolfwood is absolutely crucial. he's an ideal example of the worst kind of human (and theres some deep heavy symbolism of him being a priest, the ambassador to a higher existence that speaks with the angels on behalf of humanity), he has killed time and again, he shoots a child to protect his own. vash cant understand him, until after he's already dead and vash has to shoot legato. wolfwood was a crutch for him, making the hard choices so that vash didnt have to, but he also becomes the model that vash follows, because even after everything else, vash FORGIVES him. vash recognizes that wolfwood was following his own morals, protecting his own people, and was able to grow and change and love in ways that prove that he was still, to the end, a good person. and if vash can offer that forgiveness and salvation to wolfwood without question, then it follows that he can offer it to himself, as soon as he stops acting like he should somehow be better than the rest of humanity
and all that on its own, with just the death of legato, is a very very good arc. so why does vash still need to kill knives afterwards? well..... because trigun is also a story about abuse. its about brothers who love each other so so much, but one of them uses that love to convince the other that the two of them are special, that the whole world besides them should die, that if vash would just sit tight and LISTEN to him then everything would be okay. a brother who cries like a child when vash dares to rebel against him, who insists vash is a fool playing games for leaving him and trying to save everyone else. vash spends the series following rem's final command: take care of knives. he cant kill knives, cant even hurt him, cant do anything to stop him when knives has been wiping towns off the map, because deep down knives MUST be good, there MUST be something worth saving, and vash is the Only One Who Can Stop Him. who can protect him. who can take care of him. and thats.... vash's way of seeing himself as the special little boy, the protagonist of the story, the Superior Being he keeps pretending he isnt. so OF COURSE when vash acknowledges his humanity and the fact that he just... cant do everything, hes able to see that actually, he cant fix knives. maybe no one can. and even if someone could, it would be a long time of people hurting before it happened. and vash can do something now to save those people and free himself from the cycle of abuse, so he does
and man. fuck. the shows been telling us from the beginning that vash is just some guy. we spend four or five episodes with no confirmation that he actually IS vash the stampede. he acts like a side character in his own story. its only when meryl starts to believe he's someone special that the audience starts to see it, and fittingly, its meryl speaking in his defense with the words 'no one has the right to kill anyone else,' as if shed say the same thing about anyone else, as if its not just that its VASH that drives her to defend him; thats when vash's humanity becomes real
anyway good show

-damn you could say thats was the...final nail...to the coffin....*ba dum tsss*
chap 6:
-good to see razlo experiencing the human emotion called fear, get humbled
-interesting that skill ISNT enough. like razlo was cocky cuz yeah hes powerful af not because he had won many fights before. so if skill isnt enough then what is
-NOT THE WOLFWOOD FLASHBACK
-YESSSS
-something something my man refuses to be crucified, something something the power of change
-OH HES BACK HI :3

-LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
-aw :c
-YEAHHHHHH LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO >:D
-OOF OK THAT WAS GOOD SHIT
-you say that but youre bleeding queen
-razlo i kinda hate you cuz you killed him but no you cant leave now
-oh shit oh fuck no
chap 7:
-:c
-razlo and his methods were fucked, yes but its true that in the end it was to defend livio. in a world like that only razlo had his back
-..... :c
-geesus nightow, like thats junji ito kind of shit (imo)
-did it?????
-geesus christ thats a weapon

-NO GIRLY NOOOOOOOO :C
-oh god livio
-oh shit he knowssss
-bro pls leave my man alone, hes so tired
-pls dont mention his powers can act as a shield cuz that reminds me of the last time he did that :c
-omg its livio the teenager
-hes ok its fine
-"psst...pssst....can you stfu" XDDD

-the chaos :c the destruction :c the russian doll :c
-LEGATO NO
-HOW
-ALSO I THINK HERE IS WHEN VASH'S COAT TURNS BLACK SOMEHOW RIGHT????? i was never sure
-stop iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
chap 9:
-damn legato, dont look cool while youre trying to kill my son
-legato stoooooooooooop
-STOP IT VASH NO PLS, ALSO THE WAY NIGHTOW DREW THAT FLASHBACK???? LEAVE ME ALONE OLD MAN???
-funny enough until this point legato hasnt said anything about "breaking his spirit" so vash is just really feeling the choice coming at him, quickly, maybe too quickly
-wait whats happening?
-oh...oh :c (ALSO ORANGE IF YOU INCLUDE THAT IM GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU. LIKE IT WOULD MAKE SENSE CUZ VASH GOES AROUND HEALING PLANTS BUT STILL. SHUT UP ORANGE)
-"he might be the key for communication" yeah...wouldnt that be nice
-"and you knives, i will never forgive you" get in line
-you just cant ask "what kind of person vash is" cuz you either get a 5 hour lecture or 2 hours of ugly crying
-"i believe in how he chose to live his life" while vash is in the same shape as wet paper
trimax meryl "i believe in how he chose to live his life"
🤝 98 wolfwood "i see, so thats how you live. thats how you choose to live"
the sadddest and maybe kinda stupid decision ever, but in the end imagine being able to choose that after so much trauma. imagine not giving yourself to hate and fear
-oh shit :0 he shot the little box
-go go go GO GO GO
-AH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
NEXT ONE IS THE LAST ONE HOLY CRAP

late trigun stampede ep 7 thoughts
the orphanage is called hopeland... where ur hopes of ww being alive die...
once again wish the character designs were better
i think tristamp is v weird abt comedic timing? trigun's always had goofy little moments in any serious scene, but stampede feels weird for some reason
meryl's faces were cute
vash ran away from wolfwood, to meryl and roberto (without intending to meet them), and turned back around...???
the zazie mouth bit was fun. i think they did that before in the manga but i think it was weird then
ww just has an unlimited supply of those drug things
ww's attitude is still frustrating
and lighter tricks seems a little silly, but idk lol
at least they didnt ditch razlo?
idk why the hell meryl and roberto are there. anime meryl and millie pt 2
livio operating under some... unattached mindset feels lame
vash did nothing while livio killed himself?? anime ww death pt 2
legato seems to have replaced the real chapel, and livio defiitely feels like an entirely different character. stamp legato is trying to make ww how livio was in trimax
ig legato is still weird... but really focused on nick. for some reason
i genuinely cant tell what theyre doing w roberto. at first i was like "why is a lackluster, apathetic drunk replacing milly" but i remembered trigun humanized a character who was an alcoholic very well, so i thought that might happen, but he just seems to occasionally be gifted w perception (though other characters will randomly do it, too, so it doesnt feel exclusive to him), and i cant tell if his "oh, this sucks, let's give up" is supposed to be funny or not?? at first i thought it'd be an act to protect meryl from the more ridiculous events, but he keeps doing it, and its like. what is the point. he is STILL annoying me in ep 7??
none of the main cast is reacting to livio apparently killing himself..? vash spent the entire last ep and half of this one interfering in ww's personal business just to let this guy die when he tries to kill himself lol? mr. "I disapprove of suicide the most"
there's just an entire room of the ship that's left alone?
ww yells so much, he feels like the delinquent/jock anime cliche
did the bad lad gang leave or what... what happened w them lol?? what did they even do before??
it feels like no other characters except the main cast exist. how are there wide shots of the trigun version of a cruise ship and there's no normal people anywhere
the gang really left w/o doing anything 😭??
i think meryl mentioning tonis is good, and she's finally disobeying, but also i cant help but wonder why it took her 4 whole eps to even show she's affected... but i guess its better than nothing ever
FKSDJFSD THEYRE JUST TRYING TO LIFT THAT THING WITH THEIR HANDS??
and legato didnt stop it?
"what about the people on the ship" bitch, what people. they all got raptured
ww is being pretty negative when they just accomplished that feat. i'd absolutely get an ego boost. maybe they can stop the ship w their bare hands too, who knows.
vash doing fucking puppy eyes after ww saying he'll kill him is so funny. it makes no sense. he killed ur pal 2 eps ago
NICK BEING LIKE "IM THE PUNISHER >:( THE PUNISHER >:((" IS SO FUNNY TOO FJSDJS?? why did they make him like this ohmy god
idk why the hell this ep is called wolfwood. in trimax its when he has his first fight w vash over their ideals, and the 2nd is probably when he dies, idk, but neither happens here
its weird in the manga the plant is out of control and vash goes to calm it for the ship, but in stampede its just... there, and he's asking it to like take control of the ship...?
i guess livio isnt dead lol. they did pass his ass though
i cant say i like the plant's design either :( that is a fantasy fairy/mermaid/whatever. not to mention, another instance where the writers cut out the christianity themes. i guess for the next ep there'll be some explanation why vash and knives look different lol, and theres no way this time they were made by humans i guess.
with stampede's pacing so far, i can get why they'd reveal vash isnt human here. there's no way they'd hold out w all their other choices so far.
i also dont like those plant lines. it feels like... idk, a lame idea of how aliens or whatever would look like. i probably just like my aliens like the nge angels or the typhon from prey.
glad the end card isnt sexy ladies this time

late tristamp 8 thoughts
the voice filter thing makes rem (?) outright sound like a robot
i see knives and vash have different origins
sc-fi that has shit be like the most transparent tablet or whatever is so funny, its reminds me of d/bh (🤢🤮)
hate knives being less enthusiastic. i think them being different isnt automatically bad, and even if he was like hitting puberty before vash and maybe going through adolescence he still deserves respect, but it does kinda hint that he's the "bad" one. and i hate that evil/good twin shit lol
this cutting straight to the fall kind of makes it interesting. at least makes you go "oh, wow, i wonder what happened" as opposed to starting the show off with it
tristamp might be assigning more guilt to vash concrening knives? if knives is telling the truth. in the manga and anime knives just fucking... hacked smth idk, while here knives makes it sound like vash let him in on a little secret to the "explode all ships" button he instantly regretted
i cant take his voice actor seriously though
rem didnt shove them in diff clothes in this adaptation??
this makes it a bit more gruesome, vash being near the corpses instead of the twins watching afar
i wonder how tristamp will make knives here if he isnt even attempting to deal w vash and he gets easily taken away
this woman just knows to look for plant characteristics?? its not even a surprise thing during a doctor's checkup??
i can see theyre changing the lore w the seeds ships if theres just casual people walking around fine like there wasnt a cataclysmic event just then
they handcuffed a child... what are they gonna do, put him on trial?
is this woman a fucking plant expert. i thought they were all regarded as top-secret lab experiments, esp w vash and knives being the first "independents". why does she know. or is she info dumping
Either knives and vash are much younger, or conrad did get an intentional life extending thingy
orange not changing rem's name is so funny. knives got nai, but her last name is still just "save" added onto her first name. why not seibrem!!!
also we're the same height :)
the guy (brad?) is really annoying.
what the fuck is their food
rip luida's appearance. orange said "not cute anime waifu? GROSS."
i genuinely wonder why they put brad and luida here. are they just trying to take a short cut between making vash visit his home and connecting the backstory
IS LUIDA LYING ABOUT REM?? DID REM NOT HELP ANYONE?!?!? AM I UNDERSTANDING THAT SCENE RIGHT???
this ep also has the problem of the world looking lifeless, itd be understandable if it was explained (everyone else died, theyre hiding, etc.,) but it seems like its literally just luida and brad here. I genuinely cant tell if shes lying abt other survivors or orange cant afford more models to show them lol
are they trying to make vash repeat after knives. or is it unintentional? i feel like vash wouldnt want to copy knives after the fall tho lol. i might be reading too into it, but they did choose almost the exact same words, so..
why are they keeping vash locked up lol. wouldnt luida just trying to have him help with like... whatever someone can imagine is going on there (idk, orange wont show us anything) to possibly sway him even if he has ulterior motives. he's not even hurt, theres no reason she'd act nice and do that, i feel if vash wasnt depressed atm he'd become scared of them. theyre treating him like a decorative plant
we finally barely see bland people BUT HOW ARE THE PEOPLE SAYING HOW GROSS HE LOOKS WHEN HE LOOKS JUST LIKE THEM FSDGHDHS??? in the 90s anime, it made sense when ppl were freaked out by watching how quickly they aged around them, but theres no reason for them to be acting like this to him. he's locked up, so that one thing where ppl assume "locked up" = "they must have done something to deserve it (his treatment)", couldve come into play, but calling him gross lol?? maybe making fun of his outfit at most or smth but??
WHY DO THEY ALL WANT HIM DEAD SO BAD FJHDJD??? its not even a "this is against the rules" thing (which could work bc in this universe, they were all alive pre-fall), but they just want him dead for some reason...
more bland people
vash is a plant empath
WHY ARE THEY SO OPPOSED TO HIM LMAO
i don't think i like the presentation of rem's iconic speech. there's no context shown for it, i was scared luida was gonna take it, but here its just loosely connected. in fact, i don't think it really matches at all. originally it was about rem and vash wanting to die, they argue you have something to live for, and vash uses it to be hopeful and say people can change even when they've done bad. here it gives off the impression that vash can live to be useful to the humans, therefore he'll finally earn their respect (which is bad lol). even if its related to vash's apparent guilt of knives being able to drop everyone from the sky, its not clear enough. the audience doesnt know the context
SHE SAYING IT AS SHE'S DYING?? why would she think either kid would ever hear it, lol. i feel it doesnt fit any situation in tristamp, im more focused on the plant than what she's saying, so frankly its kind of leaving my mind as shes saying it despite me already knowing it
the plant reminds me tristamp elendira looks like that :/
i guess vash's power here is healing steven universe style, but just through minimum contact ig
he now has an appetite (trying to live), his handcuffs coming off, and a new bed. absolutely feel like a reward for his actions... it feels bad... that absolutely gives him new problems and i dont think it was intentional. thats not good for a 2 y/o, lol. somehow orange repeated the manga's introduction better here than in the reboot's own 2 first eps...
the stuff with tristamp wolfwood and brad just isnt funny. in the manga/anime, brad had that immature attitude to show off in front of jessica, he was also jealous of vash for being an older bro type and jessica had a crush on him, so he felt like the competition. here he's just... being an asshole? the "yeah, he did something useful, i guess he can get a bed now" doesnt feel like a lot. luida too, she apologizes, but doesnt explain why they did that (and that its inexcusable)
so is he using up his powers in tristamp too, or.
HOW ARE THE RESIDENTS STILL CONCERNED ABOUT HIM. BY THE TIME HES A TEEN THEY SHOULD BE REVERING HIS ASS?? or abusing him
hes a little lanky teen, awww
why did they give him a jacket that's too big, lol. its like they found a random one advertising their company and just let him have it. and not a single other character has a similar jacket
OH MY GOD BRAD IS BACK TO BEING IRRATIONAL. no "Hey, kiddo... what's this?" COME ON. luida collapses too, like werent you the smarter, nicer one??
vash runs away out of fear, so ig maybe he would have done that before.
why did vash kind of hide his running away letter. hes copying rem
brad is back to feeling guilty?? what the fuck is going on. pick one. frankly, itd make sense for him to think "running away" = "guilty" with how he started
i dont know why they cut to the present for 30 seconds just to go back in time again
it sucks no one was nearby when vash woke up, but that might be hard for orange. idk why they cant have more than 3 characters in a scene

trigun stampede ep 2 thoughts
with how much it was emphasized stampede isnt trigun maximum the anime, or a reboot of the original, i wonder how much will be similar since the Nebraska family is there
i think its a little boring that vash had nothing to do w plants, when it couldve just been as simple as trespassing or smth. vash also being mistaken for knives feels silly when i dont think theyve ever looked the same except for when they were little, unless knives comitted the crime and went "my name is VASH THE STAMPEDE, DONT FORGET IT!" lol
vash and the kid is soo cute, love vash
the lady deciding to go against vash after ep 1 is disappointing 😭 i'd understand it happening in ep 1 (people who know nothing abt him and dont care using him to get money) but the woman fiercely defending him from reporters only to change her mind the next ep feels weird lol? even if it does go back to the original "wow he saved the town (again, 3 times, in this case)" it feels less like indifferent people changing their initial uncaring attitude w vash being his usual forgiving self, and instead like they can swing any way at any time. like if meryl came in and offered $$6,000,000, then she wouldve been like, oh sure, okay. and honestly more offensive? like vash's encounter w the ppl who offered him a ride when he was stranded, only to rob him and leave him for dead. idk i feel like its different when he has already saved their town twice as opposed to the manga where they have no reason not to chase him for money (when yeah, obviously they have a reason, but still)
the animation is fun, if anyone says theyre stiff lifeless dolls, theyre wrong
i dont really get meryl and the guy's motivation for following him. meryl feels like she has to be shes meryl from trigun, but the guy has made no objections so far??
i think its funny they nerfed the son from being a comically large villain
the birdy is cute <3
i think them changing meryl is interesting. idk if i like it or not, but shes definitely the opposite from her other counterparts, but also i have no clue why shes caring so much
the series seems a bit heavy handed so far, but i guess with some things its ok to be direct about (tho idk if thats indicative of how much time theyre allowed lmao)
i liked the scene where he looked like he was dancing
idk i kinda wish rosa didnt help that guy lmao. they probably had her do it to equal out the whole betraying vash after he's saved her like like 4 times thing, so i guess, but them partying after felt weird lmao. i feel like her cutting them off w a warning to never show their face again probably wouldve made the most sense, with this it feels like she just adopted vash's ideals
that also makes the whole ep feel kinda pointless. like i know it showed vash's conflicting ideals that'd realistically perplex anyone, but then both parties besides him also being ok (esp w/o an answer to either of their inital problems) feels weird. like are they just gonna drink and then go "oh yeah, our plant is dying" and "we have no bail money" right after... back to their original problem, and theyll target someone else or do nothing lol?
the milly replacement man is really annoying to me. he feels boring, doing nothing, and being the cliche secretly super perceptive guy despite being appearing as a drunkard or whatever. like he has me so close to ranting again abt milly being replaced.
idk what to say abt gosef presumably dying lol

just last week i wondered abt the guns in trigun stampede. last week eg mine seemed like a complete idiot, so much he seemed completely unrelated to knives at all, a good chunk of the guns did make an appearance alongside knives, and wolfwood and zazie show up in the last ep, but im like... why, lol. originally the woman, the other big guy, and eg mine i think get trashed quickly before maximum even started, i get that, but i think in the manga/90s anime, it was kind of a peek for wolfwood at vash? like a "oh, so this is that guy's brother..." and half pretending he doesnt know who vash is
in stampede it seems like wolfwood wandering aimlessly in the desert somehow was a part of a plan for him to make contact w vash (and leading him to zazie to over complicatedly orchestrate a performance of him being trustworthy... despite vash having no reason to reject strangers usually??), and maybe u could say the manga/90's version is the same, but its kinda hard to believe..? like wolfwood just preemptively decided to play dead along the bus's route, waiting for vash to see, and call out to stop and rescue him. i think in the manga at least, he makes his own decision to try and challenge knives (his boss's boss), which knives approves of and lets him go in chapel(if thats his real name?)'s stead, w chapel staying w livio/the other eye of michael ppl. legato doesnt know wolfwood, and wolfwood doesnt know legato, but wolfwood had seen knives at that point, and i think can compare twins, lol. i think he was super performative and goofy w vash, milly, and meryl before officially meeting legato bc he could afford it, he didnt see the two alien, non-human whatevers duke it out yet, putting a hole in one of their moons. but stampede wolfwood is apparently already sent on the mission to drag him to knives? and a noticeable thing for me was wolfwood kind of worming his way into this group, while wolfwood in the manga splits off right away to meet w the bad guys. i think the old anime had it kinda dubious (if i remember right??), but he still was on and off in his closeness to the "group"
i think another thing i noticed was wolfwood's attitude, in stampede he's very on the nose like "I could have shot you >:)" while i think in the manga he's repeatedly bringing up the fact vash isnt human, which i think was a bitter indicator of his feelings abt his current mission of bringing this supernatural being's bro (who is just like him power-wise) to him. wolfwood does do the "I could shoot you!" princess mononoke style, but its more a personal issue w him grappling over the dilemma of removing threats before theyre active than just... being threatening (though, as i said before it could work as self-deprecation, but i dont think he'd be sharing that right away). if you wanted to interact w people (whether being genuine or not) you wouldnt implicate yourself first, even if you do some big show after, theres no reason they'd suspect him in the first place (besides his big ass gun, but originally he said it was a literal cross). i think it just makes me wonder about the timeline? knives at the end is shown discussing how they have to corrupt vash, and then i could see a "ok, go give him hell" plan, but why were wolfwood and zazie there before that... esp in a teamwork kind of way, where in the manga it was more believable bc those early guns that got fucked were just on the other side of town i think lol, and even legato a good amount into trimax is like "chapel betrayed!" and knives is like "...is going to betray vash. so? i already know that. he's doing a great job. get the fuck out."

Noo I love reading your Trigun thoughts cause I think you’re right about a lot of weird choices. I’ll try to get my words straight but I need to reread the whole ending (especially after the Overhaul finishes) because dark horse translations weird at times <3
We have all these supporting characters at the end that tell Vash that theyre there to fight with him, that they believe in his values, that hes the only one who can stop Knives. None of them are telling Vash what he needs to hear. He isn’t forgiving himself and moving forward because he thinks he deserves it, that he did his best and can move forward, but because it’s necessary to save people. And even though he decides to save Knives in the end from the earth ships… that still isnt a decision to save himself. And then he goes into recovery for months where no one would have helped him, and his brother fucked off without a word while he was asleep so no closure on THAT mess. and Vash is still to blame for things that arent his fault and surrounded by people who claim to love him but dont know him at all besides the plant feather memory thing? I dont know where I was going with this but the ending makes me sad.
I guess we could read Vash continuing on and donning his mantle at the end as a kind of self acceptance… that he was able to move past it at all. But that would make most of his turmoil over killing legato and all the people that died from Knive’s crusade off page. If Wolfwood had lived, had forgiven himself for what he felt he had to do to survive, maybe he would have been there for Vash after Vash killed Legato to set him straight. I don’t think Wolfwood living would have cheapened the story in any way—but I dont know -v- god I just want one person Vash is close to to understand him and help him accept himself. Anyways sorry for sending so much jdjfj, dont feel like u have to respond to this. I just like reading analysis from folks who dont feel like the ending was perfect/ that things couldn’t have gone any other way.
Oh, thank you, I appreciate your ask! And yeah, I could definitely do with a reread of trigun, too, lol. And don't apologize for sending me a message, i like reading what you write, i liked your one post abt elendira, too :)
I agree a lot with what you said about vash near the end of the manga. It'd be very out of character if he suddenly just said "fuck it, you all can die." after everything that's happened (that'd also play into what knvies wants), so of course he goes to try and single-handedly stop knives (and legato), even if it's all pushing himself to exhaustion, but he also kind of isn't really included himself in those he wants to save. I've thought before about if someone had to die in trigun, if vash would fit, and I don't think it would, because he had been suffering throughout the whole thing and a sacrificial moment wouldn't have done him justice considering he already has little regard for himself, and is trying so hard for everyone else.
The series after he's imprisoned has a moment where the human characters are fending for themselves, and pushing to help vash, but it's in kind of weird way... like it is understandable only wolfwood could have saved him, but i think there could've been a longer break after that arc, and then also later after vash fights legato. livio, milly, and meryl (and others i don't really remember lol... i think) help defend themselves, but then i don't think anyone really is literally helping vash after his fight? like they do wait for him to regain consciousness, lol, but he kinda gets a never-ending queue of things he needs to do, and only he can do it. i think there being some alternative to how the problems then get solved could have made it a bit better, lol. idk how i'd change knives' end actions, though, lol.
But yeah, vash is spirited away and isolated again with family #3 or whatever, then is basically thrust into basically the same situation as the start of the story, except he's now got a dead brother, and people from an entirely different planet also are blaming him... his guilt, self-loathing, etc., were not resolved, but this time he's lost all his inhuman abilities after defending these people that want him dead. i think nightow tried for that kind of cliché (?), nostalgic, "its just like the beginning!" thing, and milly/meryl were comedy relief, but being sentimental would've been more impactful. the fucking earth ppl being like "vash BAD" and then gunsmoke's people (especially meryl, milly, livio, etc.,) automatically defending him would've been nice to see instead of both gunsmoke and earth being like "lets fucking get that mf" with milly and meryl making light of it on the side, lol. like trigun ends w vash running into the sunset, and it's portrayed as a pretty/final thing, instead of recognizing that him originally doing that wasn't a good thing, he was alone, and being hunted, and blah blah

w trigun stampede theres only 3 eps out ofc, but also i am concerned abt the pacing.
i wasnt really convinced abt most things in the ep, and a lot of things happened, and i feel like i didnt really care, lol. like two days (i think) spanning 3 eps where increasingly crazy, dramatic, whatever things happen in each one, especially where the first two eps the conflicts werent resolved (the mps just leave and the town's plant is still fucked, then vash inexplicable pacifies all sides despite neither having their needs met), then knives comes in and finally deals with this town, i think so much happening (with nothing getting resolved is the big issue) just made it feel like it didnt matter. knives killed his own henchman that was introduced in that ep. knives killed some nameless houswives. knives attacked the guy who attacked the town in the previous ep. im like... i dont really care lol
i think another thing too, is that knives' actions in the plot, before trying to kill everyone, was to originally to punish vash, being like "see, look, guy you liked is dead. aw :( they suck anyway, fuck them", especially around his introduction, while here it feels like these people were just in the way? and i have no clue why he killed mine. stampede vash seems to have an even more extreme pacifism, going so far as to have a toxic positivity, making the nebraska family and the town of jenora rock make peace, and i guess that's a choice for this vash, but out of eg mine, the random housewives, and nameless citizens, it didnt exactly emphasize a strong bond between them, esp when the last ep the town wanted his bounty. i get vash doesnt want people dead, but to me as a viewer i think "i dont know these characters" and "vash isnt close to these characters"... so i dont care.
i think the manga or og anime at least had events take place in different areas; anime's intro ep, the town wanting his bounty + vash taking down the nebraska family, first gun in jenora rock, eg mine later? knives shows up after? but stampede had so much take place in jenora rock and i dont really know why...
