So what this new law means is that my aunt can't accompany her daughters on school trips anymore. And now the government's trying to ban halal food.

What's next?

A law that bans arab and muslim names for children born in this upcoming decade and forward?

A law that says women who cover their hair aren't allowed to leave their homes anymore?

A law that retroactively revokes the right of land in favor of the right of blood but only for immigrant families of MENA countries?

A law that bans mosques altogether?

A law that criminalizes being Muslim in the name of secularism?

If that last one sounds inconsistent as fuck it's because it IS. That law about minor Muslim girls not being allowed to wear a niqab or a hijab anymore was voted in the name of the separatism law. Separatism used to mean that the State would not have an official religion anymore and would not fund any religions either, that no religion shall be taught in schools, BUT that anyone is free to practice their own religion and that NO ONE SHALL BE TROUBLED FOR THEIR RELIGIOUS PRACTICES OR BELIEFS.

WHICH IS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THIS NEW "SEPARATISM LAW" IS TRYING TO DO.

TL;DR : The French government is targetting its Muslim population in the name of secularism, passing a law that is entirely unconstitutional.
