I think James deserves a win, so he manages to save Nia (and her crew. and in the human au, her engine) all by himself but I don't think he can get it back on the rails by himself. So when Yong Bao comes along and offers help I think he takes it. Far cry from the guy complaining about pulling goods trains yet getting huffy when Nia tries to help.
