Curious question, what exactly is Spencer's (more lore-y/important) role within CSTM besides from (most likely) being the "storywise a well-written villain, irl just a cocky idiot"
Like I mean he did try to scrap/cause harm to Hiro, but any other crimes he's done to affect other characters' arcs or/and big plots?
( -🧀non)
spencer's most notable influence was in the HOTR arc. story-wise, he is supposed to challenge hiro's values and give the older man a metaphorical slap to the face (funnily enough, spencer chasing hiro around the island reminded hiro that he still wanted to live and gave him a reason to carry on despite losing his family and being a patron of the gold dust). spencer's biggest crime is trying to hunt down hiro. he doesn't get any more worse than that, luckily. I've mentioned his other disrespectful as hell actions multiple times in this blog too but atp it's more annoying than insensitive or offensive to gordon and scott
writing sense I wanted to make spencer gordon's antithesis. the basis is that "spencer is what gordon could've turned out had it not been for his loved ones" and I just wrote what I wanted to write! they represent both sides of the gresley family -- gordon grew up with a loving family, spencer grew up in an environment where his relatives would rip each other apart for land and inheritance. gordon lost his family members bit by bit while spencer's still standing (with a few loses). gordon and spencer both heavily struggled with maintaining long-term friendships in their youths, but while gordon eventually hardened his heart and let his short lived connections come and go, spencer messed with people just to feel some sort of relief in his heart. both gordon and spencer are old pompous showoffs, but while gordon strived to become a better person because he realizes that he doesn't want to lose the people important to him anymore, spencer gave up on correcting himself because he thinks he's way too far gone (and being mean is way easier). then hiro came to view
spencer's a fun character. he makes me a bit sad. then I remember that he visits his cousin's funerals for the food and it makes me stifle my laughter like that one ish*wspeed gif

The atmosphere suddenly shifted.
Thomas, Edward, and Henry felt their joints seize up as the rails shifted beneath their wheels. For but a moment they thought it was an earthquake, but the sound of strained and grating steel was unmistakable. Their eyes fell to Gordon who still sat there between them, his whole frame shaking so badly it caused the ground to shudder.
Attentively, Henry caught a glimpse of the great engine's face - a horrid yet undecided expression, somewhere lost between misery and rage until Gordon's boiler pressure had all but buried every needle and gauge in his cab. His fire surged.
With a violent lurch, Gordon let loose a frightening bellow - vicious and raw and dug up from somewhere so deep below the surface that one would have thought only a bolt of lightning could have traveled fast enough to reach his lips in time as he cried out,
"BALDERDASH!"
The very foundations of Tidmouth shook as if rocked by mighty explosion.
"NONSENSE AND LIES, ALL OF IT! I REFUSE TO HEAR ANY MORE OF THESE VILE JOKES! GET THIS INFERNAL THING OUT OF MY SIGHT!"
In an instant, the sheds were suddenly filled with a fiery red cloud of smoke. Hot cinders and ashes spewed from Gordon's funnel and slipped through his teeth like arcs from a live wire.
The precious photograph was torn away from him as swiftly as was those within it - and it tumbled through the air before disappearing behind a veil of smoke and sparks.

Throwback to when I was really hyperfocused on this moment because WHY EDWARD???
Tumblr media
(An Engine of Many Colors - Season 22)
(This post can be seen as a 2x5 post! This is also a very long post. 😶)
Why EDWARD, of all the other characters, was the one to be crashed into, had the dream not ended? The easy answer could be "Oh, it's because 'A Shed for Edward'! They're trying to connect the episodes!" But that doesn't make any sense to me, for some reason.
The significance Edward had to situation at that point was very little. He was being being relocated temporarily to another shed, along with Thomas, which James knows about since he was just being pulled from the wreckage when that happened. It was obvious that some of the engines would have to sleep somewhere else when the crash happened (though it irks me that the Fat Controller didn't move every single one of them away because that cannot be safe to sleep in 💀).
What was a significantly bigger moment during those episodes was Edward warning James moments before the accident took place. Maybe that's why Edward showed up but why as a "victim" of the crash? Again, the simple explanation is that its foreshadowing the events of "A Shed for Edward" that are starting to take place at the same time. But what about James' perspective of things?
How would James know that the events from that episode took place, starting the evening of the accident? The guy's stuck at the Steamworks. Hell, he probably had no clue Edward was at the Steamworks two days later, two days after the main events of "An Engine of Many Colors" took place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(An Engine of Many Colors - Season 22; A Shed for Edward - Season 21)
Why didn't Edward show up as one of the characters warning James about crashing? Why did he take the role of being crashed into and not the role of warning James? And why was he the only one to be to crashed into, had the nightmare not ended? James doesn't crash into anyone in his blue and silver liveries, narrowly missing Philip and the goods train in the latter, but in his green livery, he nearly crashes into the back of Edward's goods train, which could've gone very, very wrong.
Could it be because Edward was the first to be sent away from Tidmouth to live somewhere else temporarily that James began to feel guilty? Was it because Edward, along with Philip, was the last engine to see James before things went wrong on his way down Gordon's Hill?
I'm definitely overanalyzing and overthinking this one but I just couldn't get it out of my mind. Like why Edward? Why not Emily or Thomas, who had warned James about his brakes from the start?
Going back to why Edward wasn't given the role of warning James in James' dream, I think I have an idea as to why. Let's go back to "All in Vain."
In "All in Vain," James, with some hesitance, trusts Edward to help him out without making fun of him, when it turns out that James ruined his fresh coat of paint. Edward does him the "favor" without rubbing it into anyone's face, and from the look of things, he never told James that he explained the situation to the Mayor and Sir Topham Hatt. Now what about it?
Is it possible that James' dream didn't put Edward in that role because he knows, deep down, that Edward wouldn't rub it in his face? About not listening to his warning? Compared to Philip, who was taunting James, Edward was being pretty damn serious. It could explain why James' dream didn't give Edward that role. Now as to why Edward was the only engine for James to be crashed into, I'm not sure, at least from James' perspective.
Now the simple and probable explanation could be "It's a dream! Dreams don't make sense!" which is very valid, because what was Diesel doing there? Throughout "The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor" and "A Shed for Edward," James never interacted with Diesel, yet he showed up.
I have a theory for this. Remember how Thomas and Rosie showed up twice, both times warning James?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is definitely a stretch but what if someone else was supposed to show up in Diesel's spot? What if, voluntarily, James forced someone he disliked to show up out of fear of seeing someone he didn't want to see taunting him? Notice how it changed to James' face after Thomas passes by, which just shows potential fear. As if he's holding his breath for whoever is next. And when Diesel passes by, he still has that expression, as if waiting for something worse.
Theoretically, Gordon could've come up next as the one warning him in Diesel's place, considering he showed up seconds prior warning him. However, this would be inconsistent as Gordon is heading in the same direction as James is. While this show does have the tendency to completely disregard track placements of the engines multiple times, such as in "Emily in the Middle," it didn't do that here. But let's completely knock that one out because, remember, this is a dream. They don't make always sense.
So why not Gordon? Well, think about it. Does James really care about Gordon's opinion this much at this point of the show? No, not really. Even in Pouty James, he did not care about Gordon's opinion. He's long gone past that "phase" of trying to be approved by Gordon. James is his own being, and that's that.
So who else could've been in Diesel's spot, following my theory? Emily. Going back to the beginning of the episode "The Fastest Red Engine on Sodor," Emily is the first character to warn him about his brakes. She also appears in James' first dream, and, if we want to consider the magazine stories canon to the television series, Emily has a sibling relationship with James, being an older sister to him (which lets be honest, its definitely canon). How do think James would've felt if Emily had showed up, taking all of that into consideration? Probably frightened. Probably because lets go back to "Pouty James."
In "Pouty James," Emily is taunting James about his attitude but in a different way. She does it with reason to get something into his head (or smokebox-). In "Tale of the Brave," she mocks him and scolds him (and Gordon) about teasing Percy. Based on James' reactions, it seems that James is used to this and knows that Emily means well. It wouldn't completely make sense why Emily could've been the other person.
So who else could it have been? Edward.
While the show is infamous for having many inconsistencies with character writing, especially when it comes to the relationships between them, their relationship was restored back to how it probably should've been following "Old Iron" with the episode "All in Vain." But since then, we don't know how their relationship was. It was pretty ambiguous. We just knew they were friends, and that was that. We didn't get to see the two interact much until "A Shed for Edward."
The minute Edward warns James about going so fast, James brushes it off as Edward worrying too much. And when Edward comes back to Tidmouth Sheds momentarily, James just smiles cheekily and blushes out of embarrassment when the Fat Controller calls him out, which is an unusual response. Usually, James gets flustered and angry when he gets called out like that but not here. To me, it comes off as an overdue response to Edward's warning. Something like "Well, I guess it happened. :'D Oops."
We know that at this point, James trusts Edward because of the events in "All in Vain," which I spoke about a while ago. To summarize that post, James doesn't expect someone else to defend him with an explanation when it comes to messing up, but Edward ultimately broke that belief for him. He has others to support him, and one of them is Edward. However, in this situation, Edward isn't there, as well as his other supporters (like Emily) so James is on his own.
So could the dream where James could've crashed into Edward and his goods train been a sign to that? A sign that his support system isn't there? That they won't be home waiting for him. The only thing waiting for him is mockery. And when he ignores the dream, the next dream tries to bring Edward back, only for James to manage to gain some control and turned him into Diesel instead.
...
That's all I gotta say. :] Take this with a grain of salt. If none of this makes sense, then don't worry about it. I've been having trouble writing anything that seems to make sense and isn't just a bunch of unorganized notes. :")
This was something I had on my mind a while ago. Finally got to writing it down. Starting off as just questioning it but I decided to overanalyze it like I do with things like this. Again, this could be easily explained because its a dream. Dreams don't always make sense. Things and people can randomly show up with no reason.

🏘 ttte Room and House headcanon for my human au (Mostly Steam Teams) 🏘
in the original show, they usually sleeps together on the tidmouth shed. but this is human au... and I had to be wise about where the humanoids sleeping cuz you know 7 person (except Toby cuz he sleeps at different shed) CAN'T sleeps in ONE room. So I thought about the "roommates" It's odd number but it makes sense. Emily is a only female in the tidmouths and I just can't let her sleeping with other male characters It's not about gender. it just makes me feel weird for some reason..... Um yeah the preface was quite long srry read hc under there! ↓↓
So about the house first, There are 'Share House' instead of 'Sheds'. And every engines sleep in their share houses. But some of them has their own house or manor for the royal or private engines. And Our steam team lives in share house called 'Tidmouth' just like the sheds in the original series. But there's some differences. They share one each bedrooms with their roommates. (except Emily.) The roommates are divided like:
Thomas & Percy
Thomas usually shared his room with Edward, But when Percy came to join, He asked Eddie to share room with Percy. Edward said yes and Thom and Percy share bedroom from then. They have bunk beds in their room, and Percy, who usually pulls a mail truck at dawn and early morning, sleeps bottom so he can move quickly. When Percy finish deliver the mails and falls asleep, Thomas quietly comes down from top and prepares for his work very quietly.
Tumblr media
I brought an image similar to Percy and Thomas's room on Pinterest >:)
Edward & Henry
When Thom and Percy started to share room, Edward was thinking about sleeping on couch but Henry asked to share room with him before Eddie clear his mind with that choice. Edward and Henry are both are heavy sleeper (Hen is little heavier than Ed) so they don't wake up so easily. Edward likes to listen to quiet radio music when he sleeps, so Henry understands it and he falls asleep listening to it too. And when Henry can't easily fall asleep because of anxiety, Edward helps Henry fall asleep.

Gordon & James
Haha Yeah them. It was hilarious and very funny to imagine them living in same room. James always taking so many time on ready for work and Gordon always complaints about that. And James and Gordon both has sleep habits James is talking in his sleep and Gordon snores very loud af (Sometimes he hears himself snoring and wakes himself up by sound) And yeah They always fighting about this too XD it could be like:
Gordon: And YOU should stop talking in your sleep while your roommate trying to get some sleep!
James: Oh yeah? I thought I slept with some bulldog or something! I told you engine like ME must have at least 8 hours of sleep!
Yeah lol and Gordon always looks at James with makeup on his dressing table from morning and Can't understand why is he so dramatic about his looks and Maybe in the morning, the sound of these two fighting will be full of kitchen and living room lol

Traintober 2023: Day 9 - Viaduct
The Viaduct has a Story Behind It:
Tumblr media
The Maron Viaduct stands as a testament to the Sodor and Mainland Railway’s poor financial decisions, stretching across the gorge between the town it’s named after and the rails to Cronk, the remains of a failed attempt by the old railway to build a railway to connect the island’s capital at Suddery to Barrow-in-Furness on the mainland.
The company had agreed to a 75-25 split with the Wellsworth and Suddery Railway on the other side of the gorge to build the viaduct, paying a massive lump sum of money they did not have to begin construction on what they believed would be the company’s salvation.
Neil disagreed. He saw the bridge for what it was: a vanity project by desperate men. “Too big to fail” they said. Neil wondered if they would ever come to regret those words. They certainly didn’t seem to mind when the bills kept piling up. Every other week, it seemed like something was going wrong – though in the beginning, they barely noticed.
At first, it was just tools vanishing in the night, small enough that it was not essential to the construction site and able to be written off as petty theft – but then, a stick of dynamite went off by itself. Neil wasn’t sure why they even had dynamite – he was told it was to remove boulders deep in the gorge; he thought that it should’ve been kept down there instead, and not up with the rest of their supplies.
An entire hut filled with tools went up in flames, the explosion sending debris shooting across the work site. Neil was just thankful it had happened in the late evening, when he had been leaving the site with the workmen. The men were shaken, but unharmed. Neil hurried away with the coaches, not wanting to look back.
He wasn't quite sure what he was going to see.
The next week, a line of trucks Neil was shunting were diverted onto a siding leading to the edge of the gorge, a coupling snapping when the little engine tried to brake the train to a stop before it all went over. Three trucks kept rolling, and despite Neil whistling a warning, not everyone could get clear of the trucks before they went hurtling over the edge. They smashed down the side of the gorge, splintering and fracturing and shooting shards of wood everywhere, while their contents scattered out over the river. Mangled pieces of metal and splintered wood came raining down.
Four men lost their lives, leaving Neil assaulted with nightmares that had his boiler run dry when the stars glinted high above them in the sky.
And yet it did not end.
The crane broke, more dynamite went off. The rope basket carrying tools and men across the gorge snapped, sending the basket crashing into the gorge, smashing to smithereens against the jagged rocks below. Every single time, Neil willingly turned a blind eye, and every night, Neil sat awake in his shed and wondered if it was worth praying to the human god. There was something deeply wrong with that gorge.
Stories began to circulate, of the figure of a man who just wasn’t there. He wore clothing of the previous millennia, and he screamed and cursed at the bridge from afar. The men swore they saw him, standing just at the furthest point of the gorge visible to the railway. Neil felt an uncomfortable presence around the site – he felt like an intruder. They were not wanted here.
The Wellsworth and Suddery Railway pulled out of the agreement. The losses were mounting, and the Elsbridge tramway was offering a far more lucrative offer for amalgamation and tunnel building to a harbour on the far side of the island, in the Irish Sea. Skarloey said it was a place called ‘Tidmouth’, and that somewhere on that side of the island another little railway ran, with an engine almost as old as the pair. Neil didn’t believe him – the terrain on that side of the island only grew rougher, less habitable. The shepherds who took their sheep into the foothills to graze said it was impassable, that the only way up to the Ancient City of Peel Godred was through the valley – but the people of Peel Godred refused to sell their land to the S&MR to build up that way. They said that it was old land, full of ghosts and demons borne of heretics cursed to forever wander the earth in search of a salvation that never came.
Neil wondered if the figure the men saw in the gorge was one of these ghosts. From the way he acted, he could have been a demon. The fire that broke out and burnt the supports to ash and brought an entire pillar crumbling down was testament to that.
Still, the S&MR refused to back down from this folly. They continued trying to stretch their viaduct across the gorge, even as the bills rose ever higher. Tools continued to go missing, dynamite exploded and damaged the blocks, trucks moved on their own, derailing and falling into the gorge.
And then, it happened.
Neil remembered being there, that silent night. He’s been ordered up to the construction site to drop off a line of trucks, to replace the ones filled with waste that had derailed and blocked half the line the night before. As he approached, he noticed a thick column of smoke blast up into the night sky.
“There’s a train coming on the other side,” his driver noted. “But the W&S said they weren’t going to run beyond Maron,” Neil replied slowly, peering into the darkness.
An engine rounded the bend, face white as a sheet and eyes wide with horror. Fire was bursting out on all sides, and on the footplate stood a man in clothing from nearly a millennia prior, cackling with glee as the engine roared towards the gorge. The poor engine looked as though he was on a one-way trip to the underworld, and he screamed and pleaded in horror; the man in his cab refused to respond.
Neil could only shut his eyes and try to block out the explosion that came from the engine’s boiler rupturing and crumpling on impact. An entire section of the bridge shattered, crumpling in on itself and burying the destroyed engine.
They finally stopped trying to build the bridge after that. The costs had grown too steep, and both the S&MR and the W&S could not afford to go near it. The rails were ripped up, and the remains of the structure were left to fade away. The two companies met similar fates: The W&S was merged with the TK&ER and bored a tunnel to Tidmouth, while the S&MR declared bankruptcy, and sold off all its assets. Both companies were decimated by the events of the construction of the Maron Viaduct, leaving little but their histories and their rail lines behind them…
At least, until the admiralty bought the three railways in 1915 and began construction once more. But before they could, they unearthed a skeleton nestled in the river at the base of the gorge, preserved in the sediment built up by the rushing water. He wore the tattered remains of what may have been a Viking and looked as if he had been attempting to crawl out of the water when he succumbed to his fate.
They moved his remains to a parish at Wellsworth; and performed several rites over the bridge before beginning construction once more. Neil stayed well away – he knew it wasn’t safe.
Today, the Maron Viaduct stands tall and proud over the gorge; and inscribed in its pillars is a single name, written in runes no man can read. No one knows how they got there, nor does anyone know what they say. But it’s said, if you touch the viaduct at the very moment the sun dips below the horizon, you will meet a ghost, who will impart on you your fate.
Neil refuses to go near the viaduct and discover if the legend is true.
And it's a good thing he does...

Would you be willing to give us some more about Zephyr and Betla?
Tumblr media
Zephyr-aka the GT3, one of my favorite all time engines. A gas turbine built as a 4-6-0, her delayed construction meant she was considered outdated on arrival to British Railways. She performed well, and was lived by her crews. There was nothing mechanically wrong with her or her performance, but BR wanted diesel electrics and she was considered non-standard. Shes part of the NWR now on the Little Western, running mixed trains from Arlesdale to Mantaou. I really hope someone makes a new build irl.
Tumblr media
Betla was a steam outline built to be destroyed in a stunt for an action movie. Those plans were derailed when she awoke. The NWR supplied a (non-living) replacement in exchange for her. While actually a diesel, she has been enthusiastically adopted by her Britannia class 'siblings'.
She mainly pulls freight on the mainline from Tidmouth to Barrow, but occasionally will pull passenger trains on especially hot days during dry summers, to reduce the chance of a lineside fire breaking out.
(They didn't even use the shot of the replica in the movie, instead using cgi for the crash)

The Great Race Part 2
Narrator: That night at Tidmouth Sheds, all the engines were talking about the Great Railway Show.
Thomas: Can you imagine if any of us actually get a chance to compete?
Percy: I think you would do a great job if shunting was an event Thomas.
Edward: Did you hear what any of the events would be, Thomas?
Thomas: I only heard the famous, Flying Scotsman say that there's going to be a racing event.
James (laughing): Oh we know Gordon would want to compete in that. He'd love to have the chance to show off.
(Henry rolls his eyes.)
Henry: It's not as if you wouldn't want to show off your paintwork, James.
James: Ha! I'm sure the judges would love to see my glorious paintwork.
Emily: I do think you would do an amazing job if you did a freight pulling competition, Henry.
James: Oh please, Emily. Henry isn't even the strongest engine on Sodor.
Henry: I'll have you know James that I pull heavy goods to the Mainland all the time. Murdoch only provides goods work for the farmers and Sir Topham Hatt wouldn't want to take him away from that. They would need two engines to pull the trains I can all the way to the Mainland.
Percy: What about Hiro? Isn't he pretty strong?
Edward: Hiro would most likely represent Japan, Percy. He is a JNR Class D51 after all.
James: Yes, yes, we all know what his class is, Edward. Why would that matter? He doesn't live in Japan anymore so he should be able to compete for Sodor.
Emily: Victor's still a Cuban engine despite living on Sodor, James. Donald and Douglas are still Scottish despite living on Sodor. It's possible Sir Topham Hatt would let both of them compete where Hiro would represent Japan as his native land.
(Gordon backs into the sheds groaning.)
Gordon: Are you all still blathering about the Great Railway Show?
Thomas: It's not blathering, Gordon. We're all very excited to see engines from other countries compete against each other.
Gordon (scoffing): I think it's nothing but a waste of time. I wouldn't want to be racing against my brother like some show pony.
Percy: But you like showing off how fast you can go.
Gordon: You don't understand, little Percy. I have to boast about my speed because I'm the pride of Sir Topham Hatt's passenger fleet.
James: Gordon you don't have lovely red paint like me. If anyone's the pride of Sir Topham Hatt's fleet of engines it would be me.
(Gordon groans.)
Gordon: You are the same size as Edward, little James. You could never keep to my schedule. You simply aren't able to go nearly as fast as I can. There isn't a single engine on this island who could pull the express like me.
Edward: You do know Gordon that Connor and Caitlin were designed to go up to 123 mph.
(Gordon rolls his eyes.)
Gordon: Connor and Caitlin are STREAMLINED Edward. They only travel from Ulfstead Castle to the Mainland. They are not express engines like me.
Emily: Spencer's an A4 and can go up to 125 mph.
Gordon: Spencer wouldn't dare risk his position just for some frivolous race. And again Emily he's STREAMLINED. He serves the Duke and Duchess of Boxford which means his work load isn't nearly as large as mine.
Thomas: But why wouldn't you want to at least see your brother the Flying Scotsman again?
Gordon: That is not of your concern little Thomas.
(Gordon rolls backwards into his shed.)
Edward: Well everyone I suppose that's our cue to turn in for the night. Good night everyone.
(They all say good night except for Gordon.)
Narrator: One by one all the engines fall asleep. Although, Thomas could've sworn that he heard Gordon crying as he fell asleep.
(Thomas falls asleep as we fade to black.)

Gwenieve the desert engine
Gwenieve, also known as Gwen or Gwenie, is a coffee pot engine built according to Sir Topham's specifications for the Tidmouth Knapford&Elsbridge. However, she has a massive weight reduction, making her lighter and faster than her hundred-year-old siblings. Another key difference is that she is built for American standard gauge.
She was built in the mid-2010s to traverse old abandoned rail lines in the California deserts, hence the weight reductions. Her sentience surprised her builder/owner/driver, as she wasn't built conventionally. Instead of a locomotive workshop, he built her in his garage in Pine Valley, California.
She's an oddity for sure - a British engine running on abandoned desert rail lines, paired with some of her more "backwood engineered" parts. She has a winch where typically her front coupling would be and a gas generator attached to her running-board.
Her owner, Allan Martin, a divorced man in his late 40s, moved to California after his daughter, Tasha Martin, passed in 2005. After Tasha gave birth to her daughter, Evelyn Martin, Allan adopted her immediately. Although she wouldn't be fully built until 2015, Gwenieve became sentient after the installation of her boiler in 2010, both shocking and elating her creator. His granddaughter, Evelyn, declared Gwenieve her sister, and the two have an inseparable bond.
She is painted red like the rest of her class, with bright gold lettering on her boiler for the N.W.R.R (Nowhere Railroad), and a big 1 underneath the lettering. Her footplate handrails and buffers are all made of heat-resistant wood, and she runs off of coal, but only when they can afford to get enough to run her. Most often she runs on treated wood that burns hotter and longer than regular logs.
She mostly gives hikers trips up the "impossible railroad" to the Goat Canyon but has never crossed it due to a landslide blocking one of the tunnels. She has one coach that Allan brought for cheap and restored, complete with air conditioning thanks to the generator. She also has one truck that Allan built that's full of tools and supplies in case she derails or others using rail speeders break down.
Together, Allan and his granddaughter have maintained the line the best they can, not only for Gwenieve but for the others who use their speeders. Together they have cleared the landslides and larger rocks that block the line. The N.W.R.R has quite the following online, with a Facebook group for all the people who use the old lines, of which Gwenieve is the mascot.
Evelyn is both refreshment lady and conductor. She has a stand in the rear of Gwenieve's coach where she sells water and protein bars. The regulars of the Nowhere Railroad call her the small conductor. She has a temper and has threatened the more rowdy passengers with being thrown from the train.
Between tickets and refreshment sales, Allan and Evelyn make enough to keep Gwenieve running, just barely, but it's enough for the adventurous trio, and the community loves them. With them living almost an hour from the rails, most of Pine Valley knows her as they see her on Allan's trailer. Gwen is anything but shy.
Although running Gwenieve on abandoned tracks is legally dubious at best, the local law enforcement haven't kicked up a fuss yet, mostly due to how many underprepared hikers Gwen has saved. They have turned a blind eye.

What kind of dynamic do you think Thomas and Oliver have? Both tank engines are mascots of their respective branchlines, both run a push-pull service, and have coaches with names -- seems ripe for story potential!
I reckon they'd either love each other or hate each other, lol. Usually we as a fandom focus on the antagonism we suppose Thomas and Duck would have. But while I'm sure those two just don't "get" each other and are privately kinda mutually judgmental, I think they also just... stay out of each other's way.
Oliver, though. He made such a big splash when he arrived — the big engines were all fawning over him, a mere tank engine, lolllll — can you imagine what a funhouse-mirror world Thomas would have felt he was in, if he overnighted even once at Tidmouth during this period? — and TVS, reasonably I think, characterizes Thomas as being so suspicious of new tank engines. So I think Oliver really would just drive Thomas bonkers. If Thomas can get into a jealous tizzy over, like, friggin' Stanley, I don't know how Oliver would have failed to made Thomas (Great Western) green with jealousy.
Honestly, in Thomas's frames, I'd feel insecure. Oliver became famous for fleeing the braying diesel hounds of the B.R. all the way across the mainland and making a heroic escape to Sodor. Thomas (who at this point hadn't even left his safe, quaint little island for over 50 years) became famous for... leaving his guard behind and throwing a snowplough tantrum. Like. They are not the same. 😅
But, if Thomas can handle the major mid-life crisis I suspect Oliver's arrival kicked off for him without melting down, then I can also see the two just vibing. They have enough in common to feel competitive or to simply hit it off. They're both sociable and hasty and cheeky. Furthermore, the balance of respect might be restored because, while Oliver is more dashing, Thomas is definitely the leadership-y one and I don't think Oliver poses the slightest threat to that. Oliver just wants to live his life and have fun. He works very happily under Duck (who tbh I can see sometimes being a bit overbearing and fussy), he ain't in no way going to go getting under Thomas's wheels.
It might be fun if stormy weather/collapsed track/line repairs reduced trains on the Little Western for a while so Oliver is sent to the Ffarquhar to spot for one of the other engines. I feel like Oliver might be a bit like a bull in a china shop on that little line... Toby would get tired just watching him zoom around and terrorize the coaches, while all the other engines would feel pleasantly sedate and responsible by comparison. Thomas would develop a Pavlovian cringe every time Terence or Bertie greeted him with a shit-eating grin coz he knows they're about to congratulate him on what a fine job he's doing keeping order on his line (i.e., they're about to tell him the latest disaster Oliver caused). One day for Reasons Oliver has to take some coaches that aren't push-pull fitted and when he runs round the train (how annoying!) he forgets to get coupled and storms off down the line without them. Thomas would be at the junction venting about what a headache and a pest Oliver is. Gordon and Henry are shaking with laughter and with the feeling that this is just Sodor Karma (belatedly) at work. Back at Tidmouth Duck is raising exactly one eyebrow and saying Oliver has only ever had one incident on his line (unsaid: too bad for Thomas but some of us are Built Different). Daisy is confused when she returns from the Works and even Annie and Clarabel join in the loud cheers that greet her arrival.

Introducing the world of TTTE: Sudrian Boys [TTTE: Sudrian Boys AU Worldbuilding, Pt. 1]
Now that I've worked out exactly what I want from my AU, I believe it is finally time to share the lore with all of you (one month after I initially promised it OOPS).
The lore of this world is a bit HEFTY to explain, so I'm breaking it into multiple parts. This part mainly goes over the history and background for my Humanized!TTTE AU, TTTE: Sudrian Boys. In later parts, I plan to cover things like Sudrian vs Non-Sudrian Engine culture, how the engines differ from humans, and more info about how the shapeshifting works in my AU, so stay tuned!
Also! Information regarding specific characters will be included in separate character sheets I will be posting at a later date. I'm also currently working on some fanfics that I hope will expand my AU further. But feel free to ask me any questions you may have!
This is going to be a VERY long post so read on under the cut!
Before we begin, some key things to keep in mind:
I am still actively catching up with the canon source material at this point in time! Thus, aspects of my AU are subject to change as I read/watch more of the source material and incorporate it into my AU.
This AU is primarily based on TV series canon (both model and CGI), as that is what I am primarily familiar with. Some aspects are also taken from the Railway Series to help estimate an approximate timeline of events.
At this current point in time, BWBA is NOT canon in my AU. This is mainly because I have not watched it yet and have no plans to watch it later (with the exception of the Michael White episodes that everyone says are good). The episode "A Shed for Edward" from Season 21 is also NOT canon in my AU. This is to say that in my AU, Edward and Henry still live in Tidmouth. It's my AU. I do what I want.
On that note, Thomas and the Magic Railroad is partially canon in my AU. I haven't gone back to re-watch the movie yet (I do plan to at a later date), so I'm going purely off of memory and what I hear other people say about it. Because of this, I've decided to basically just take parts that I like and leave behind parts that I don't. In regards to the canonicity of the film itself, I consider it as a dream Thomas had (that may or may not have actually happend. It'll all make sense later).
With the exception of Philip the Diesel Boxcab, ALL of the engines are adults in my AU. Yes, that includes Thomas and Percy.
With that out of the way, let's start at The Beginning:
A long time ago, when humans were designing the first steam engines, a young faerie fell in love with them. Her true name is beyond mortal comprehension, but engines of today refer to her as Lady (or alternatively, the Lady of Legend).
Though fae are usually associated with nature, this faerie in particular was fascinated by machines and the ingenuity of mankind. And so she used her magic gold dust to breathe life into the machines that she loved so much.
And thus she became Lady, Goddess of Steam Engines.
For many years, engines and humans lived together in harmony. The engines found purpose in being useful, and humans were able to travel longer distances and distribute supplies amongst each other. It was a mutually beneficial relationship.
But then, everything changed when the fire nation attacked dieselization happened.
Lady watched in horror as humanity turned their backs on the steam engines that worked so hard for them. In increasingly larger numbers, engines were getting scrapped for as petty reasons as "not being useful enough". In an effort to protect her beloved machines, Lady imbued them with more powerful magic.
As much as Lady wanted to, the Fae Court wouldn't allow creations of man to be taken in mass to the fae realm. So if she couldn't offer her engines salvation, Lady would at least give them a means of escape.
By around 1960, as steam was getting phased out, Lady blessed her beloved machines with the ability to shapeshift. If an engine ever had a desire to leave the rails, all they had to do was imagine themselves doing so and they could walk the Earth in a human-like form. This would allow them live lives completely independent from mankind. Being "really useful" was no longer a requirement to have a right to live, now they could simply exist and pursue goals of their own choosing just as any human could.
For steam engines all around the world, shapeshifting became a secret and closely guarded practice that they would only discuss amongst each other. Humans were not to be made aware of this under any circumstances.
Unfortunately, even after Lady bestowed the gift of shapeshifting upon her engines, hundreds of them were still killed under the cutter's torch. Steam engines are proud entities after all, and many of them preferred to die upon their rails than to live in hiding as something foreign. And since shapeshifting was such a closely guarded practice, not every engine who may have wanted a way out was able to be taught.
Even so, there were still reports circulating of engines vanishing from scrapyards without a trace, almost as if by magic. These were the engines that managed to escape and are now living secretly amongst humans to this day.
Fast Forward many, many decades later. We return to the Island of Sodor:
It is now the late 2010s to mid 2020s. The entire Island of Sodor basically runs as a giant heritage railway.
The NWR is currently run by Sir Topham Hat III, who is at the strapping young age of 83. (I saw this tweet from someone who asked Christopher Awdry if STH III is still running the railway and he said yes so we're going with that.) STH III loves his engines very much, which is why he has no plans on retiring any time soon. Still, he has STH IV shadow him closely in order to prepare him to take over the railway some day.
Because of the success of both The Railway Series books and the Thomas and Friends TV show, tourists flock from all over the world to get a look at the famous engines. Plus, being one of the few places to still have steam engines in operation (and so many of them in fact), you can count on many of the tourists being train enthusiasts too.
Basically, the engines of Sodor are all treated like celebrities. They are FAMOUS and are generally adored by the public. Whenever they go anywhere, you can count on someone knowing their names.
And because of just how many tourists come to Sodor every year, the economy is thriving and the engines are all very, very busy. Everything is pretty idyllic.
But sometimes, prosperity can get pretty boring.
And now, our story begins:
As with many Sudrian Shenanigans, everything starts with Thomas the Tank Engine.
One night, after Thomas delivers passengers to a carnival, he makes a wish to leave life on the rails, even if only for just one night.
As much as Thomas loves working on his branch line, delivering goods and passengers from place to place, and meeting tourists, doing the same routine for literal DECADES can get a little dull.
While waiting for his driver and fireman to return from a short break, Thomas let his mind wander. He imagined himself as a human person taking part in the festivities with the passengers he just delivered. In doing so, Thomas accidentally activated the dormant shapeshifting magic Lady had blessed him with many years ago.
When Thomas opened his eyes, he was literally much closer to his rails than he had ever been. The station platform was much higher up. And Annie and Clarabel were much bigger than he remembered. Thomas had accidentally turned himself into a small human man, just like he had seen in his imagination.
He freaked out a little at first. When they returned, his driver and fireman didn't recognize him. It was only after Thomas started going off about things that only he would know, details about events that happened decades ago, before they were born and had only heard about in stories, that they realized that this small human figure really was Thomas the Tank Engine.
They called Sir Topham Hatt III at once, explaining the situation. And while baffling and unbelievable, the truth was right before their eyes. They were at a loss for what to do, especially since Thomas didn't know how to turn back yet. They concluded to allow Thomas to enjoy the festival for now, let Edward take the passengers home that night, and have Thomas stay with STH's family until he could figure out how to return to normal.
While scary at first, Thomas did enjoy the festival that night. And he went home with STH in Annie and Clarabel. He got to see the island from a new perspective, and he very much enjoyed that.
STH III made Thomas's driver and fireman promise to keep this a secret for now until they could figure out what happened. But that ultimately didn't matter because Thomas went to say "hello" to Edward that night. By the next sunrise, every engine on the island heard exactly what happened to Thomas. Some told their crew, but most weren't believed. Even some of the engines didn't believe each other. But at the very least, every engine on the island knew something strange was afoot.
The news eventually reached Donald and Douglas, who swiftly made their way to Tidmouth Sheds. Coincidentally, STH was bringing Human!Thomas to Tidmouth to inform the rest of the Steam Team about what had happened.
It is at this moment that Donald and Douglas reveal that they knew about shifting for decades. It was how they managed to get to the island under the guise that there would only be one of them. They would take turns, one traveling as an engine while the other hid in their cab. The reason they both appeared on the island as engines is because they hoped the controller would be kind enough to keep them both (and he was!). If it hadn't worked out, they would have run away together as humans. Since things worked out in their favor, they didn't see a point in shapeshifting again. But now that their secret was out, they needed to keep it safe.
Donald and Douglas taught the Steam Team how to shapeshift, and the engines continued to teach each other until basically every engine on the island knew how to switch between the two forms comfortably. In exchange, however, only a limited number of humans could know about engine shifting. These include STH III, STH IV, and the engines' drivers and firemen. Basically, only those who really needed to know.
Nowadays, STH gives the engines a little extra time off during the day to explore their new forms. The Steam Team also has an apartment where they can live together as humans if they choose. Within a few months, most of the engines have gotten in the habit of shifting back and forth, exploring their world and learning new things about themselves.
Now in a new perspective, the adventures continue. 😉

it's still april even if its not 4/4, so here's four of them!
(derek being d4 was inspired by @.mean-scarlet-deceiver's fic, which you should totally read if you like gordon having character development but still being fundamentally Gordon and derek existing)

The children of NWR
Here are my first OCs, they are not all because in 1969 most were yet to be born in my history. I hope you like them and yes I have a serious problem designing shoes. a course is required to learn how to draw simple shoes. enjoy
Casper Diesel:
Casper is the first born on the railroad, he is the eldest son of Diesel and Daisy, but temperamentally resembles neither of them. Casper is calm, docile, sincere, and able to listen. he currently lives with his family in Knapford, and is best friends with Elizabeth
Elizabeth Gresley:
Elizabeth was born in tidmouth Sheds and is the first child of Gordon and Henry. she has a sister, Margaret, to whom she is very close. Elizabeth is very sweet, but sometimes tends to boss others around. however he is not as arrogant as Gordon, although he may be somewhat similar in character. she and her family live in Knapford, a little way from the station. Elizabeth and Casper are very close friends, but Elizabeth is definitely hand in glove with Catherine, who is the opposite of her.
Catherine Horwich:
Catherine is the first daughter of Jamed and Edward, she is a bit reckless, and often a bit mischievous. even maybe a little spoiled by James, who buys her anything she wants. (even if Eddy is against it) Catherine always knows how to get into trouble, and she often drags Elizabeth into it, who always takes the beatings from her parents because of her. Catherine has a peaceful one-year-old brother named Dash, who for some reason she hates and is jealous of.
Caleb Diesel:
Caleb is the second child of Daisy and Diesel, and arrived not even thirteen months after Casper. unlike his older brother, he is very mischievous, and his favorite sport is answering back to his mother, who is doing everything to make him grow up as good as Casper. but nothing seems to work with this brat child.
Nicolaj Gresley:
Nicolaj is the first child of Scott and Frieda, and cousin of Elizabeth, Margaret and Anne. lives in Mainland with his parents and his one-year-old brother Michael. Nicolaj, just like his parents, is very self-confident, and plays a lot of sport at the behest of Frieda. she sees her cousins three times a year, when they leave Sodor to visit them on the Mainland.
Friedrich Porter:
Friedrich is the first and only son of Porter and Timothy, lives with his parents in Wellsworth, so away from the other children. Friedrich is very quiet, reserved. but he loves spending time with his parents and above all he loves the ships in the port, sometimes Porter takes him to work and he stays there playing away from the tracks until his father has finished. when in company he doesn't mind talking, but prefers to be alone.
Margaret Gresley:
Margaret is the second daughter of Gordon and Henry, younger sister of Elizabeth and cousin of Nicolaj and Anne. Margaret is extremely stubborn and listens to little or nothing, which makes her look even more like Gordon. her temper causes many problems for Gordon and Henry, who often lose patience with her, and must always be careful to put the chain on the door, as she tends to leave without asking.
Anne Gresley:
Anne is the first child of Spencer and Duchess, as well as being a cousin of Elizabeth, Margaret and Nickly. Anne is a beautiful and sweet little girl, she is very attached to her mother and has never thrown a tantrum. she has a little sister of a few months, Bianca, whom she sweetly calls "B", and to whom she directs many drawings. Spencer is proud of his first daughter, and is often his only topic of conversation.

The Headboard [Shitpost]
So, I just want to preface this with: I'm probably sorry for this.
That being said, I put 45 whole minutes into this, so it's not like I can't post it.
Also, the art is by the very wonderful [NAME REDACTED], who definitely doesn't want their name associated with this.
Tumblr media
(This image is here so the joke isn't spoiled by tumblr embedding the first image in the post in links. Also so I don't have to look at it.)
----
Tidmouth, Present Day
It started innocently enough.
A Twitch Streamer” - someone who played video games live on the internet - had contacted the railway, asking if it would be possible to charter a train. He explained that he was planning to do a live event with his fans, and as most of the video games he played were about trains, it seemed like a “fun idea” to do so while onboard a real train.
While it may seem unusual for a media personality to charter a train, on Sodor this wasn’t exactly unusual. Money was money, and trains were often chartered for sporting events, railtours, and film and television productions; while it was for a different media spectrum than usual, the NWR didn’t see anything wrong with operating a single charter train for him.
They even did their due diligence, consulting some of the younger members of staff. to make sure that this individual hadn’t done or said something morally reprehensible, and that his content wasn’t something shocking or provocative.
It should be noted that, while incredibly tech savvy, the specific youths that the head office inquired to (which included Richard Hatt’s own children) had never actually heard about this particular “streamer” before. As a result, they did some cursory searches of his available videos, and watched a few of his live streams.
Nothing that they saw stood out to them, but that was because they didn’t know where to look.
--
A few weeks later
The box showed up with the post only a day before the charter was to take place. The charter would have its own special headboard, and the streamer had had one made specially for the service, so its timely arrival was a relief.
“-eard about it,” Said one of the fitters, as he carried the box into the sheds the next morning. “From my nephew, he watches ‘im. Said it was some sort of collaboration video with a bloke who does metal forging online. Certainly feels heavy enough.”
“Looks big enough too.” Siobhan followed him through the door. “We might have to mount it up high.”
Henry rolled his eyes hugely. Of course Gordon had been selected to do the Charter, and he’d been as insufferable as ever for the last few days. “Must you do this while I’m still here?” He yawned. “It’s too early to hear him go on and on about fitment.”
Gordon had apparently not been asleep, as Henry had thought. “Henry, if you are indeed so bothered by the early hour, maybe consider not taking the Flying Kipper? I’m sure Marina would be honored to take it more often.”
“How dare you-”
“Oi!” Siobhan shouted. They’re a hundred years old an’ yet I still have to mother them. “You, shut up. You, don’t encourage him.” She pointed to each engine in turn. “We’ve got to make ‘im spic and span in time for this shite, so no arguin’. Understand?”
Ominous threats were left unsaid, and Gordon and Henry quickly shut up.
Behind Siobhan, there was the sound of tearing cardboard, and then a confused “Eh?”
“What?”
“That’s an… odd choice of, well everything to be honest.”
She looked in the box. “Isn’t that a… burger chain or something?”
“I think so.” The man turned his head as he pulled the headboard out of the box. “Why’s it on a headboard? An’ what does that word mean?”
“I don’ know.” She reached into a pocket and pulled out her cell phone. “Ah, great, no service. Fuckin’ Vodaphone.”
“No wifi?”
“It’s on the fritz, an’ IT works normal hours.” She turned to Gordon and Henry, who were steadfastly pretending that they weren’t curious. “You two know what this means?”
Henry laughed to himself. “No, but what a… jaunty colourscheme that is.”
Gordon glared at him. “And what is that supposed to mean?”
“It looks silly! The letters look like they belong in a cartoon or somesuch!”
“But what does it mean, Henry? You don’t know anything?!” Gordon was indignant.
“I haven’t the slightest clue, but I assume that this is some kind of in-joke for whoever is chartering the train.”
“A joke?! Siobhan! I will not be party to someone else’s sense of humour! Have Henry take this train!”
By now, most of the shed was awake, and Gordon was promptly drowned out by his ever-so-supportive friends.
“Oh no! You spent all week going on and on about this train!”
“You’re not getting out of it that easily, Gordon.”
“What’s this? Karmic retribution for how much of a pain in the buffers you’ve been? On Sodor? Who could’ve predicted that?”
“Well I certainly am not taking it.”
“Och! Ye canno’ take a feckin in’ernet joke? Wha’ kind of a stick in tha mud are you?”
“Just wear the damn headboard!”
“Don’t worry, I’m sure your picture won’t be spread far and wide on the internet or anything!”
Gordon turned a bright shade of red and wheeshed steam at them all, which did absolutely nothing except make them louder and more insistent that he take the train.
Biting her lip to keep from laughing at the engine’s absurdly angry expression, Siobhan helped the fitter put a ladder next to Gordon so he could mount the headboard at the top of the firebox.
“If this turns out to be some obscene prank,” Gordon stared at them through narrowed eyes. “I will make it my mission in life to make you regret it.”
“Good wit’ that, Bluey.”
----------
Later
The cleaners came and went in a flurry of polish and rags, and Gordon sparkled from end to end whether he liked it or not. Not a person he asked knew anything about the headboard, which only made him more suspicious that someone was keeping something from him.
“I promise you that we’re not.” The Fat Controller had made his way over to the sheds at the urging of everyone who had spoken to Gordon that morning. “I assure you that this person is merely an… internet personality. If this is a joke, it’s harmless.”
“But sir!” Gordon protested. “Nobody is even willing to find out! What if this is all just a joke?”
Stephen smiled kindly. “Nobody can look anything up right now - someone in Suddery was doing some digging last night and cut through a major communications cable - half the Island has no telephone or internet service today, us included.”
“Well, that doesn’t ch-”
“And, if it is a joke, even one at your expense, I expect you to be pleasant and composed for the railtour like the express engine you are.” He finished firmly. “If that is the case, we will deal with it as it comes, and you can tell me that you were right until you are blue in the face. Understand?”
“Yes sir.”
“Excellent. The train boards at nine sharp, and I expect you to be as pleasant as you possibly can be.”
Behind him, there was a murmur of “that’s expecting a lot, isn’t it?”, but the culprit was too stone-faced to be picked out of a lineup, despite dual glares from man and engine.
----------
Eight Thirty.
Gordon collected the train from the coach yard, and pulled into the platform with all of his considerable grace and pomposity on display. He was serene, he was calm, he was not the butt of someone’s-
“Oh” Two platforms over, Tornado stared, not at him, but up, at the board, looking for all the world like someone had smacked her upside the smokebox with a heavy object.
“What.” He said, his fears instantly solidifying, and then transforming into anger.
“Oh no.” She said, not paying any attention.
Before anything else could be said, Donald rattled through the station, a heavy stone train from the Little Western trailing behind him. Tornado’s guard blew his whistle and waved his flag as the hoppers rolled by, and before Gordon could ask her what was wrong, she left in a great hurry.
His scowl formed and then instantly deepened. I have been made a fool of.
He stayed this way, simmering angrily for almost ten minutes before Siobhan came out, a trainee fireman in tow. She walked down the platform, explaining the specifics of main line firing to the young man, before realizing that he’d stopped dead in his tracks. “Somethin’ wrong lad?”
“You do know what that means?” He said, blushing scarlet.
“I knew it!” Gordon whistled angrily. “It is an obscene joke! What does it mean?! Out with it, boy!”
The young man went pale underneath his blush, and shook his head back and forth in terror. “Oh no, no no no, no way.”
Siobhan wasn’t sure if she should be upset at the apparent obscenity, or in stitches at the idea of it happening to Gordon of all engines. “Lad, seriously, wha’ is it?”
“I’m not saying it at work.” He said in a small voice.
Gordon looked thunderous, and Siobhan decided that the headboard needed to come off before anything else was said.
Of course, this was Sodor, and trouble reared its head at exactly this moment.
The charter train was quite short, and Gordon was somewhat further back in the station than he ordinarily would be. This meant that when Oliver puffed in with a passenger train from the Little Western, he stopped ahead of Gordon on the platform. His passengers disembarked, streaming out of Dulcie and Isabel towards the stairways for the under-platform tunnels.
It was half term, so quite a few young people were on the train, and as they walked down the platform, they all did the same thing: they looked at Gordon, looked at his headboard, looked at the platform or their phone, then quite violently looked back at the headboard. Some even stopped in place, and one girl just barely managed to stifle a shriek that otherwise would’ve echoed throughout the station building.
Then the cell phone cameras came out.
-----
In the station cafe, Stephen Hatt’s phone ‘pinged’ - the first time it had done so all morning.
Ah! He thought to himself. Service is back.
He immediately began paging through his rapidly growing backlog of emails and news alerts, before a business news article caught his attention.
That better not have been an obscene reference… He thought to himself as he typed in the seemingly innocuous phrase.
-
-
-
His phone almost fell out of his hand, as he flailed and struggled to close the obscene tab he had just opened.
Shoving aside another patron, he flew through the door of the cafe, his top hat just barely staying on his head. There, across the platform, Gordon was surrounded by a crowd of helplessly laughing teenagers, looking angrier than he’d ever been.
“SIR!” He boomed, having seen the man exit the restaurant. “I TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU THIS WAS A JOKE AT MY EXPENSE!”

Hi everyone! Remember when I said that I have another AU planned up my sleeve? Well, here it is!
TTTE: Ghost Pals!
Note: This page isn't completed yet. Updates will be added to this when I flesh out the AU.
Warning: Mentions of d34th and mπrd3r
It's inspired by @fraiserabbit , @sodor-spirit , @bruhstation and @dieselstooyou 's AUs! (Until The End, Casa Tidmouth, Sodor Spirits)
A heaven, hell and god definitely exist in this AU, and you can either go to the afterlife, be reincarnated, or become a ghost.
Ghosts are known to have special abilities depending on how he died.
And, inspired by “The School For Good And Evil”, have mogrification abilities, which they mainly use to turn into their old machines.
And if you see a ghosts without any massive blood or injuries, they are in a shaded form. It's an illusion that ghosts can use to look more approachable and appealing. When it's removed, the ugly horror of what's under the illusion is revealed.
Most ghosts don't understand why they didn't just immediately go to heaven, but some say it is because of a faulty God.
The story centers around Alfred (yes 98462)
So after he died he decided to haunt the island for 1: s××ts and giggles 2: malicious intent and 3: spite for the living, ESPECIALLY crovan.
But years later he, in his words, got “bored” of spooking people. But later on he figures out he's so stupid to not know that there's a bunch of other ghost on Sodor, which leads to some interesting adventures.
This is also a musical AU. So like, they kinda sing here—
That’s all I'll say for now so let's move on to the characters:
Tumblr media
Alfred (98462)
The most aggravating little s××t
Doesn't really believe that he did anything wrong.
Attempted to kill Henry, Gordon and possibly Crovan (his ex-crush)
Died attempting to kill Henry and Gordon (via explosion)
So now he can explode shiet
Got trapped in a tea kettle (haha loser)
First met Godred as a ghost.
Now haunts and hurts people out of spite and fun.
Trucks, cars, coaches, etc... are scared of him.
Views his newly found friends as companions or slaves.
Doesn't get along with Timothy. Thinks he's an annoying nuisance/insolent smiling prick.
Thought he was the first ghost on Sodor (stupid idiot lol)
He's basically like Beetlejuice, except he's not a demon straight from hell.
He starts these stupid shenanigans on Sodor for the fun of it, or at least... that's what he says.
Him singing “Jacks Lament” proves that there's at least a small tint of humanity that grew inside of him throughput his years of death, but why does he always try to discard this?
Tumblr media
Godred
Died from falling down a mountain.
The second ghost on Sodor.
Because he died falling off a mountain, and therefore can float and cause earthquakes.
Obnoxious, very self-important and stubborn.
When other ghosts started to come to Sodor, he attempted to act as their leader.
That is, until Timothy came.
People liked Timothy more than him because he was less bossy.
Timothy and him are unfriendly acquaintances.
Culdee is his childhood friend, and didn't meet him again until they both worked at Sodor.
He's probably depressed as hell.
Despite his problems, he much more normal and sane than everyone else in the group
Like he's just thinking, “How did I get myself into this— oh wait its because I DIED.”
Who knows, there might be a reason why he's such a pompous jerk.
Tumblr media
Timothy
The leader of ghosts on Sodor
Is Thomas' older brother.
Died after plunging off a viaduct near the harbour.
Is Thomas' ghost guardian
Arrived on Sodor via ship when he turned into a ghost.
Mainly creates bubble shields and stone walls or platforms.
And due to this, is regarded as weaker by the other ghosts.
Has a kind, gentle and optimistic exterior
But to some it looks rather...off puting. Something about his smile and his eyes say that he isn't all that much of a saint.
Welcomes everyone's BS with open arms (in other words, deals with the shenanigans that occur)
Seems to be wise and level-headed, accepting his death and saying that it's the way of life.
But he looks after Thomas so much...
And Neil often finds him sulking in him room with old photos of Thomas.
No one really knows if he's actually moved on yet.
Oh, the poor, wise man...
How long until his sanity finally shatters?
Tumblr media
Proteus/???
Died from falling off a viaduct into the water. But most people don't know that.
He can control water and create hurricanes with it (for some reason, and his lamp holds a secret power)
Doesn't remember much. He could remember having a job at the heavens, giving people the lives they deserved.
Which should've been fulfilling, but it wasn't.
And the image of him spiraling down into the water, again and again..
His sense of sight has gone dead, and can only rely on the lantern he holds to lead his way into the dark.
If it isn't lit, we're going to have problems.
Proteus isn't his real name, and was just given by other people when he worked at this “heavenly place”. No one alive remembers seeing him or what his name was, much to his detriment.
He's got quite the hostile attitude and some anger issues.
Most people don't see his lost sense of identity and his misery.
Oh, the poor soul.
He can't remember anything. What he did to have his sight taken away from him, to be treated like a slave, and to die in such a horrid way...
What was he ever done to anyone?
Why was he only ever viewed and used as a tool for the success of other people?
S.C Ruffey, Smudger, and others are yet to be made in this AU :)
That's it for now, see ya when I make more on this AU 👋
