Vix, gimme an interaction between Wyll and Astarion. Where Astarion is like yo quit trying to steal my girl. But in his Astarion-y way that you write so well! <3
Congrats on 1000 followers my friend!
My pleasure, here's what I came up with:
Bonus Astarion POV scene following Seeing stars:
Earlier this evening you’d finally pulled her aside, confessing your lies and manipulation. Laying bare more details about your past. Fully expecting that to be the end of whatever it was you had with her.
And yet, despite all odds, she stayed. She wasn’t even angry with you. Something was definitely wrong with her. Delightfully, maddeningly so.
The proverbial shoe would inevitably drop sooner or later – this was too good to be true. But until then, you could allow yourself more of these impossible moments of comfort and happiness.
You now stalked the camp, trying to find something to occupy yourself with. You’d been doing your utmost to avoid following her around like a lovesick puppy. After all, now you knew she would be back in your arms again later tonight. And you wouldn’t need to do anything but hold her.
You caught sight of Wyll. An irritated anger still seethed in you after the stunt he had pulled yesterday. He had managed to avoid you all day, having stayed back in camp.
He was sparring with Lae’zel, trying to teach her how to use a rapier. She was arguing, perhaps justifiably, that she didn't see the point in poking small holes in someone when she could simply cut them in half with a greatsword.
On an impulse, you approached.
“A moment with your sparring mate, if you don’t mind,” you directed at Lae’zel. She motioned you to go ahead, with a knowing look.
Before Wyll could react you swiftly kicked his legs out from under him, simultaneously grabbing him by a horn and catching him in a headlock.
“I heard you’re not too fond of the horns. Rest assured, I will assist you in breaking them off should you touch what does not belong to you again.”
Lae’zel stood back observing, arms crossed, with an amused expression on her face, as Wyll scuttled, kicking up dust, trying to keep his balance.
“You are right, and I apologise! I was caught up in the moment and not thinking straight,” Wyll gritted through his teeth. Trying to keep the peace and stay amicable even now. How dull.
“Yes, I’m sure you were quite caught up in the moment you had orchestrated.” You dropped him in the dirt. “Just don’t do it again,” you said, starting to walk away.
“Would you have pulled his hair if you could grasp it?”
Apparently the scuffle had merited a rare smile from Lae’zel.
“Honestly... Probably, yes,” you said without slowing down, as you walked past her. It wasn’t too long ago that Tav mentioned that Lae’zel herself had propositioned her recently, and you were not about to get into an altercation with the githyanki.
“You have already mastered biting, but have you considered scratching as a tactic?” she called out after you.
Over two centuries old, and reduced to fistfights over your lover, like a grease-faced adolescent.
It was mere days ago that you socked Gale in the nose for referring to Tav as your ‘livestock’. He still sported a bruise and steered clear of you.
Had you gotten into fights over love interests in your youth, you wondered. You scoured your memory for anything that might ring a bell, but came well short of any images. Some ghost of a feeling whispered faintly in your mind. Despair at... being rejected? Excluded? Were there several people involved at once..? The memory came up as a sour aftertaste of melancholy and dejection. It must have been sharp once, for any remnant to survive for over 200 years. You didn’t try to pursue it further.
You rounded a corner to see Tav talking with that mountain of an elf named Halsin.
Did you truly just overhear them talking about how large he is..?
Ha! But also, really? Sigh... Fuck my unlife...
You would deal with that later, if it ever came to that. You kept walking.
You glanced at Shadowheart. The cleric was praying in her corner of the campsite, as she was wont to do more and more often in her spare time, of late. When had she approached Tav, anyway, you wondered. Must have been back at the tiefling party. Hardly a threat anymore.
What now?
You spotted Karlach stargazing near her excuse of a tent.
You grabbed a bottle of wine you found palatable from one of the supply crates and made your way towards the tiefling.
“Karlach! My best friend, my pal. My home-girl, my rotten soldier. My sweet cheese, my good-time gal.” *
“Are you okay there, fangs?” she gave you an apprehensive look.
“Never been better! A game of cards, now that you can hold them yourself?”
There. You could have normal, friendly interactions with your companions too.
“Alright. But I’ll punch you every time I catch you cheating.”
“Fair.”
Absolutely normal.
*Sorry, I couldn’t resist, the Lazlo quote plagues me.

👀 what if I was interested in that Gale poly rant but in a positive way?
LKSJFDLKFJGDFG i can't use the rant on you then because it would be too clinical and i would angry swear sometimes probably
but honestly like. first we need to talk about halsin . wait first we need to talk about poly as a sexuality
i'm going to try and not turn this into a massive character analysis or analysis of queer identity in media etc so i will attempt to retain my humour throughout to ground me
people who are poly tend to sit on either side of a coin. poly is a preferred state of relationship, or just a state of relationship they enjoy, and they can do just fine with monogamy, and everything is chill - ultimate relaxed person mode. the other side is the group of poly individuals who view poly as important to them and their sexual identity as being straight or gay or bisexual or pansexual or any other identity. for them it is part of the queer umbrella and it is fundamental to their being, they can't turn it off, they can't be ok with monogamy, this is who they are.
for reference, halsin is the latter. poly is part of his sexual identity.
halsins poly rep is, spoken from a poly person, ok. it is ok. it's not good, it's not bad. it's mostly the stuff around halsin i don't like. (and i am not going to talk about his drow situation, for reference, because that shit goes beyond poly rep.) making halsin token poly, for lack of a better word, would realistically be fine in most situations, in fact i've talked with aisling about this and i would have preferred they made him poly with no poly options in the game to go with him over what we got - we can't forget he was added late, he isn't as fleshed out, he feels a bit misplaced sometimes, and his poly goes hand in hand with that. he could have existed as a poly character, which nearly all wood elves are in canon, without shoving in some poly options for him with existing companions who would explore that with anyone else despite the game allowing you to romance those companions with the other companions if you play as them? and they flirt with each other in banter quite regularly? i don't know. it feels very like, o shit we gotta make him poly he's a wood elf! and he's a druid! but we have no options for him! who are the easiest to add without it feeling odd??? like idk. it doesn't feel great from a poly pov, and if you enjoy like halsin x shart x tav or halsin x astarion x tav that's totally cool - i am not dismissing these at all because i don't fucking care about canon so even if it didn't exist in canon in a way i don't really like, i would still be cool with it.
our poly rep leaves much to be desired, tldr.
i am happy it exists, however. and my hope is that one day in the future when we have an rpg where every romance option is bisexual or pansexual that they are also poly. that is my ultimate ideal for the future of these situations in gaming. i know some people are uncomfortable with poly, but that's why we refer to what i first said. you can have characters like halsin where it is fundamental to their being - they will never be monogamous, you cannot change them. but you can also have individuals who are cool with monogamy if you're not comfortable with polyamory. i want characters who will date each other on their own, and you can join the polycule, or get involved with just one of them. i want devs to be open minded and not give us a token polyamorous character and instead explore it in better ways.
i have known many poly people, i've dated poly people of both sides of the coin, i've been involved with people who are married to someone they don't live with but have nesting partners (a partner they live with who isn't their spouse) and multiple partners on the side and follow the hierarchy side of poly. my ex helped me understand poly as a sexuality and they also didn't subscribe to poly hierarchy and all their partners would be equal. poly is an expansive identity and it deserves the attention and respect other queer identities do.
a poly person creating poly ships and poly situationships with a character or characters who are confirmed monogamous is the same to me as a gay person creating gay ships and gay situationships with a character or characters who are confirmed straight. and that might be divisive, because many people, including queer people are not ready for or not comfortable with polyamory yet in their spaces. now i can be respectful of people who have trauma around polyamory because they were involved with someone who used it as a weapon - usually done by someone who isn't actually poly. but we as poly people deserve to take up space, we deserve to be in your media, we deserve respect, we deserve to be represented well.
and if video game devs aren't going to do that for me, you bet your ass i'm gonna do it for myself. no one can take that power for me.
what exists in my game doesn't have to mean shit for yours - it doesn't exist in yours. it is a thing i do for me to make me happy. if anyone gets upset about that they need to go outside.
please don't cast a witches curse on me
i might come back to edit this ... i haven't proof read it..... this was just screaming <3 i'm too tired to read my own words back

It's a little funny how unprepared BG3 is for you to be older. Not even old, except by human counting. I mean, it's the first fantasy game I've played where human really isn't the default race in any sense, except maybe age. Gale is in his thirties or forties, same with Shadowheart, Wyll and Karlach probably in their twenties, Lae'zel an angry little baby with her whole life in front of her. Astarion is somewhere in the vicinity of 230, I think people have calculated, but he's experienced the passage of that time uh, very differently. Only Halsin really has a lot of life experience, and as a full-blooded elf, him calling himself an "old man" at 350 or so is like the way us 40 and 50 year olds call ourselves old on Tumblr.
And yet the player can choose from nearly as many race options where 350 is not old than they can from races where it is. I gave my Huginn some age lines for the Aesthetic and now I basically can't have him any younger than 200, as a full elf. I'm not in the slightest interested in making judgements about age gaps, but it would be understandable if an older player character looked at most of the companions and saw people who were, ultimately, quite young.
And that's fine! Adventuring is largely the province of the young, both in fantasy and reality. But it is funny how the game, in subtle little ways, also assumes that you're in like, the bottom fifth of the possible age range.
TL;DR, Halsin out here calling me "child" and I'm here with my 250 years and my crow's feet like, excuse you?

Someone might have think that the fic I worked on the longest would be something nice, something well-writen with good themes.
Wrong.
Dark elves becoming high elves.
Act 1 spoilers
Mead
'I wanna get drunk' Vierna exclaimed, looking around the shadow curse-touched lands ahead. The camp snickered. That was becoming a normal way of their favourite drow saying 'this shit sucks' and a bit of an inside joke. Ironically, Vierna got drunk only once since they've begun their journey a couple of weeks ago, when they first entered the Underdark. 'One drink for courage' turned into eight and frankly, no-one blamed them. Trauma was something they all were too familiar with.
But there was one person that wasn't part of the camp long enough to know all of this. Halsin, an archdruid who joined on on their journey just a week before. And most of the week was compareably peaceful: grand theft child, constant bickering between Lae'zel and... Everyone, graverobbing and Gale getting a suicide mission from Mystra. Nothing too bad, so Vierna had no reason to complain about being 'too sober to deal with this shit'.
'I'd fancy a drink as well before putting my feet into the cursed land. Or at least a nice, long rest...' Kay joined in, surprisingly. She was almost like a rock and very goal-oriented. The sorceress rarely let herself indulge in anything. And now, both of their leaders indirectly exclaimed that they needed to prepare themselves before entering the cursed land. Rest welcomed the idea and started preparing camp.
As always, Kay was overseeing it and Vierna started preparing meal. The cooking was mostly between them or Gale, as they were the best at this, but today the wizard was too tired. Life on the road and constant battles were not easy on the man, who was used to comfort. Wyll was on the laundry duty. Astarion was repairing any broken garments. Lae'zel was caring for everyone's blades. Rest was setting up the tents. When everyone was done with their duty, they sat next to the fire and enjoyed Underdark mushrooms and roth meat stew. Comfort food for the drows. That's another thing they all knew, this time even Halsin caught up on it. So when everyone, besides the drows who enjoyed nightly darkness, retired to their tents, he reached info his bag and took out a bottle spiced mead he himself brewed.
'You two complained about needing a good drink. I hope this will suit your tastes' warm smile on druid's face was quite mesmerizing to Vierna. But for Kay, she was only curious about the mead, as she has never drunk it. In any case, both drows let Halsin pour mead into their cup.
'Does this truly has any alcohol in it? It's... Sweet...' wondered Kay. Vierna smiled like the fey-raised bastard they are and nudged Halsin a little. The message was clear. *Don't tell her*. Then warlock started drinking themselves, cheering their best friend as they drank.
In two hours time, everyone wished that Halsin never gave them the mead or at least didn't listen to Vierna and hide it after one cup. Turns out, the spices and herbs in the mead had... Interesting effects on drows. The kind of interesting you'd want to see in lab, with a couple of nice, sturdy layers between you and them.
'I AM DWAGON, HEAR ME WOAR!' Screamed Kay, standing on a big rock and... Breathing fire?! Everyone hoped that it was just a funny manifestation of a cantrip. There were numerous, multi-colored dancing lights everywhere. Wyll was convinced that Lae'zel was on Kay's back for a moment, Kay calling her 'esteemed dwagon knight' before weak drow fell from the rock from githyanki's body and armour throwing off her sense of balance. Forest around was on fire. Some of the tents as well.
'I CAN FLYYYYY!' Kay started to flap her hands, lying in the grass, angry Lae'zel pinned under her body.
On the other end of the camp, thing were only a little bit better. Only about ten summoned sprites, two feywild sparks, and a white harengon that ran off almost immediately, screaming something about being late for the tea. Vierna was puking their guts off, while Astarion was holding their hair and thinking about how in the nine hells can drow barf a rainbow. At least there was no fire over there. But this whole Feywild magic did attract a blight that probably resided in the nearby Shadowlands.
'I'm gonna die, my star...' - Vierna wept, tired from throwing up and using so much of their energy. Astarion swiftly dealed with the blight before returning to the drow's side. He stroked their back, trying to comfort his clearly in-pain lover.
'You won't die, I won't let you die, gods damn you!' snickered vampire, but in his voice was a note of panic. This is bad. So bad on so many levels.
'Awww... You care...' Vierna tried to sound sarcastic, but the results were pitiful. Like a wet kitten. They almost lost consciousness, but loud whistle startled them awake.
'KARLACH, GET YOURSELF TOGETHER WE DON'T NEED SECOND SOURCE OF FIRE HERE!' Shadowheart was tirelessly putting off fires with her "create water" ability. The barbarian with the whistle source in place of her heart was nervously trying to get Kay off Lae'zel without burning any of them.
'It's easier said than done, soldier!'
'Vlaakith damn all of you, she has golden dragon blood, you won't hurt her, Karlach! Now get her off of me! How is she weighting this much?" Githyanki was getting impatient. Finally they got Kay up, even if this"up" was wobbly at best. Halsin and Shadowheart finally put out all of the fire. Wyll started to look for the guilty of this whole madness.
Astarion and Gale were supporting unconscious Vierna, shooting glances between each other. The vampire may act frivolous most of the time, but he saw the way Gale was looking at the drow. This filled with love gaze. Astarion needed to admit - he felt threatened. On the other hand, the wizard was jealous, because the charming warlock gave little thoughts to the way they stole poor man's heart, showering nim with care and undersranding and yet... He felt that Vierna's affection lies elsewhere, with the untrusthworthy spawn.
On the girl's side athmosphere was barely better, but from different reasons. Kay was, on contrast to Vierna, very much conscious and overly animated. Screaming about something in drowish, or maybe undercommon, in any case, from context clues (fire) everyone knew it was continuation of her dragon... Well, not exacly delushions, she WAS dragon-blood sorceress after all. They've made a quick decision that putting her to sleep would be best. They had one singular potion of angelic slumber and that was the only thing able to do the trick. The spiced mead may have put one of the drows to sleep, but risking fuelling Kay's trip wasn't worth using that method.
When both the drows were deeply unconscious, everyone was exhausted.
'Can we all agree to NOT give them any drugs ever again?' asked Shadowheart, making sure that if anything happens, the drows won't hurt themselves.
'Absolutely.'
'Without a doubt.'
'I'd sooner become a vegetarian.'
'Not even Vlaakith could make me do it.'
'Avernus is preferable to dealing with this.'
'The currents of fate will be smoother if today's events won't reaccur.'
'Today events were a mistake.'

Some Thoughts on Halsin (Part2/2)
Part 1:
2. Halsin Romance
1) The Relationship with MC
First of all, I really like Halsin's open relationship tendency. I admit I like poly and can't take it well when a LI demands the MC make a commitment (Like, as much as I ship Shepard/Garrus, when Garrus demanded Shepard become a “One Turian kind of woman" in ME3,I was like: "WTF? How dare you! "). And of course, I've never kidnapped by Drows personally.
There are some individuals naturally who just don't invest themselves into intimate relationships too much, some people simply think they have more important, interesting, emotionally fulfilling things to do. I understand that traumatic experiences could easily bring more conflicts into a character build and make them more attractive, but I don't think it's necessary to explain all their behaviors that do not conform to realistic social norms through traumas. In my mind Halsin is in that case.
His true commitment lies in nature, not in individual relationships. In Orin's Love Test "Halsin is restless and roaming." He also told MC that his commitment to nature does not prevent him from enjoying connections with people from time to time. I think this is why he mentions the abduction with the attitude of "sharing fun stories," not because he was traumatized but because he simply didn't care that much. It was just a kind of exotic experience for him as he mentioned it was not all bad and did things that were not necessary for his survival. In my mind he might even as well use the opportunity to get first-hand observations of the Underdark and the Drow society structure.
So when Halsin confesses that his heart stirs for the MC, despite the claims that his heart does not stir easily, it is still just a "stir". I doubt he is actually falling in love with the MC, but rather like smitten by MC: MC did save him, save the Grove, save Thaniel, lift the shadow curse, kill Ketheric Thorm. For a MC that solved the problems that had haunted him for years, he is obviously deeply moved and grateful. As well as our MCs were built with quite a lot of attractiveness, who can be not smitten by MC? It's only natural that Halsin got smitten too, and he just comes up to MC directly.
2) Halsin's "horniness" and his Image as an Archdruid
Some argue that Halsin's horniness destroyed his image as a wise and strong archdruid. While it's true that Larian makes Halsin a companion to please players so they may think provided his content with heavy sexual implications is a good idea (which I agree with them but some others are not), still I think his "horniness" does not necessary conflict with his image as an Archdruid.
In Act 2, Halsin is fixated on lifting the shadow curse to the extent that if the player leaves the shadow-cursed lands, Halsin will leave the team. At the same time, he confesses his affection for MC but refuses to engage in any relationship until the shadow curse is resolved. Considering he was wild in his youth and had many lovers, the only explanation is the shadow curse take all his attention (which he had actually already told us literally) and makes him lose interest in seeking carnal pleasure and/or impose a very hard self-restriction, either out of guilt or out of agony.
At the same time, Act 2's conversation also reveals why he became the archdruid: his predecessor died, so he had to take up the mantle. In the conversation of Act 3, he doubts his capability as a leader. These conversations give me the impression that he doesn't enjoy the role of archdruid, which has a social/political nature, but for the sake of the Grove, he takes up the political responsibility nonetheless.
Halsin has a wild and angry nature, but when he became an archdruid leading the Grove and trying to resolve the shadow-curse, the fixation on his responsibilities suppressed his nature. This suppression has reached a point of break around the time of MC arrived: A Drow with a strange tadpole tried to get him, a nautiloid crashed, a chance of seeking the night-song. So he left the Grove to go to the goblin camp with those adventurers, which was very reckless for a leader, and only to get himself captured by the goblins. Obviously the self-restrain he had imposed on himself for a century is cracking that he'd let his eagerness get better of him. Hence, when the MC resolves various problems that have chained Halsin for so long and liberated him from the responsibilities and old debts, his nature comes back with force. He is once again the free and wild druid, with a heart that smitten by the MC, of course Halsin would be horny for them!
The real issue in Halsin's romance arc, is whether this smitten feeling can evolve into deeper emotions later, and that is where Halsin's personal storyline falls short: the effects of MC's charm on Halsin seem to wear off as the crisis resolves and Halsin's debt to MC repaid. He just leaves without any other potions for MC, which is poor handling from storytelling/character grow perspective. While personally I think this can be explained by Halsin's nature, and totally fine with him roaming freely again, I understand this closure is not enough for many other players.
To provide an option that allows MC accompanying Halsin to help him with the orphans would be much better. Under this option, the MC could choose to maintain an open relationship or encourage Halsin to consider a more exclusive one-on-one relationship. And more discussion about his wild nature and former suppressions throughout the game could help a lot. All in all, I could see some of the reasons why Halsin was presented like he was in the game, but still there could be much to be done to make him a better character.

THIS IS ALL COMPLICATED (except Gale lol)
Another shitpost about my beloved tav Haltyrr. Now about her relationship with companions. More details under the cut.
template by @raysoffrost, thank you!
(Please note - everything below is written on behalf of my oc. My own opinion may be different! I find all the characters charming, but from Hal's point of view it's a little more complicated) (oh and pls ignore my bad english, i try my best, thank you)
Tumblr media
Shadowheart. This girl is harmed. She bleeds painfully right front of me and pretend to be fine, pretend no one sees her weakness. She NEEDS something. Protection, maybe? I dont understand. She is so funny in her pathetic rudeness. When I look at her, I feel my own weakness, and it's sucks. I should stay away. Lae'zel. I never seen githyanki before, and this woman was mystery… For some time. She's annoying, she's predictable, and… amazing in her faith. I adore her directness and urgency to fight to the death for her ideals, but also this is a blindness. She always follows the line of least resistance. People like Laezel are good on battlefield. I need these type in our journey, but she and i will never be an equal and never understand each other. Maybe one day she'll try to kill me, or, maybe I'll kill her first. Karlach. A simple woman, maybe too simple for me, but, in any case, she knows how to prioritize correctly and live in the present moment. She is very sensitive and perfectly defuses the situation if tense raises because of someone else's sick ego. We need her. Actually, I think, everyone needs a woman like Karlach. Jaheira. I don't know how to treat her. Sometimes she looks so much like me and this is pisses me off. But sometimes I find sweet how she grumbles and looks at everyone like at stupid children. I'm sure she sees it too - we are quite similar, and it's better for us to keep a respectful distance from each other, otherwise one day well fight to death, and then we both regret it. Halsin. Well, he's huge, a druid and an elf at the same time. It's a terrible mix in my opinion. Sometimes I'm just freaking SCARED of him. Druids are strange af. Elven druids?! Please don't. Part of me despises Halsin for just running away from his beloved grove when it needs a competent guidance more than anything else, but at least my weirdos like him. (or I'm too soft-hearted). Gale. If someone hurts Gale, it will be the last thing they will do in their lives ever. (I wish I could beat the shit out of his ex, but it's hard with goddesses.) Perhaps this man is the only one from all over the upper world who really understands and accepts me. I don`t know how he did it, but my trust in him is unshakable. Magic, probably. Astarion. I don't blame him for trying to survive. I blame him for doing it ridiculously. Sometimes he tires me so much that I want to tie him up and throw into the river. Next to Astarion, I feel like a babysitter, and this is the last thing I would like to do in our situation. I think sooner or later this pathetic elf will get angry because of a something Very Important For Him in a teenager way and leave, and it would be noble of me not to stick a dagger in his back. If you want to be respected, respect in return, darling. Wyll. I don't understand what he's still doing in my camp at all. I mean, I've heard so many rude things from him about how unreasonably cruel I am that it's even funny. I behave quite decently and don't even point out to Wyll that he seems to be much more interested in wine, pretentious speeches and condemning everyone in a row (me in particular), instead of doing, you know, things. He also brought this annoying devil with him. Oh, spider queen, give me strength.

MOMFG PLEASE DO IT FOR BG3 TOO LAMB I AM SO UNBELIEVABLY INTERESTED!!!!!!! holds binoculars up to ur mind <3
astarion - alpha ; smells like bergamot and rosemary and brandy naturally but uses the perfume he makes to cover up the scent of decay around him. in life he was a stereotypical alpha dickhead and his behavior is a lot less typical alpha due to his spawn nature but it does rear it’s ugly head from time to time
gale - beta, i could see omega ; this is hard as it’s easy to imagine him as both beta and omega and he fits both quite well so ig it’s really up to you. smells like new books and berry pie being baked. when he’s jealous/angry the scent of cinnamon is added
halsin - alpha ; it’s hard not to imagine him as anything else due to the amount of presence he has / smells like wild mint, pine and herbs. maybe some petrichor too
jaehira - beta ; beta to her core, her husband khalid was also a beta too / smells lightly of medical plants (think the way tiger balm smells but not as strong) and if you stand close enough you can smell wildflowers
karlach - alpha ; again hard to imagine her as anything else but is a prime alpha and it shows. smells like firewood / apple chips being burnt and a bit like gas due to her engine
lae’zel - alpha but i can see beta and even omega ; smells like some sort of polish and musk, either has alpha or omega it is a pleasant and deeper scent. it’s easy to imagine lae’zel as both alpha and omega to me so it’s up to you
minsc - beta ; minsc just smells like a sweaty guy wearing deodorant he does not have a specific scent which is…odd…. / i like him being a beta its a funny contrast to his louder nature
minthara - alpha ; smells of lavender and a darker, sweet smell (its poison)/ this woman is a clear alpha it’s so obvious bro…..
shadowheart - omega ; smells of a heavy incense with sweet undertones (think like baby powder) and when she is free of shar begins to take on the scent of honey and citrus. when she remains with shar all that remains is the scent of incense
wyll - alpha ; fang pls don’t look……..alpha wyll is so real to me i want there to be conflict between his romantic ideals and what his body wants ANYWAYS….alpha wyll smells like all thing’s masculine sandalwood, amber, musk a little bit of vanilla….god….

Avai had never seen the grove so busy. It had always been peaceful when she'd managed to slip away to visit before, a perfect picture of nature's glory, the very earth itself seeming to welcome her as she walked over it. As she looked upon it then, with no idea how much time had passed since she had been taken, and with a mind much more full - rather literally, considering the new companion that sat inside her skull - it was pure chaos. The fear of the tieflings was palpable in the air, the grief of those they had lost both on the road and mere days ago hanging overhead. Children learning to fight to survive the journey they would soon be forced on, parents exchanging fearful whispers as they looked on. A young couple leaning against one another, holding onto all the hope they could in a silent exchange. Avai could but hope they could find Halsin before the grove would be closed off, and the refugees would be left to fend for themselves against the goblin camp nearby. She'd already exchanged tense words with Kagha away from her party, but it hadn't helped any. That wretched woman had never liked her, and had barely considered Avai's words. She had nothing to do but continue her journey with her newfound companions on the journey to get the wretched tadpole from their heads, and hope somewhere along the way she'd find a solution to it, a way to help somehow.
As for that moment, all there was to do was rest in the safety of the grove before they were to head back to camp - it was late, and Avai wasn't sure about the others, but she was exhausted. They'd travelled quite far, and had a few scraps that day, and the tiredness was sinking into her bones some by that point, weighing her down. She leaned against the rough stone wall as she watched Shadowheart trade with Arron, not truly focused on the words they exchanged. She could hear Gale off to her side, talking to the wizard Rolan, and that also didn't particularly hold her attention, nor her focus, until she caught a small scrap of their conversation. Rolan mentioned a tower he wished he could explore, long abandoned and 'probably ripe with scrolls just left there for the taking'. She bristled almost instantly, standing up straighter.
"Why would you wish to go to some old dusty tower? Wizards aren't known to just leave their magic items behind, I'd expect naught is left there but rotten foods and moth-eaten clothes," She said, tilting her head to look over to them, arms crossed over her chest, and tail flicking in poorly-disguised discomfort, nose wrinkled like she'd smelt something particularly sour.
"Well it was abandoned - the wizard supposedly died a rather… Gruesome death. His children all left soon after, leaving it empty. I'm certain something interesting must be left there that I could study, if only I could go there. Blasted goblins…" Rolan didn't particularly look at her, mostly talking to Gale.
Rolan's response only soured Avai's expression more, but instead of responding she tried to calm herself, taking in a deep breath. He didn't know any more than the druids did, and that was all they knew, he meant no harm, She tried to remind herself, not wanting to be angry with him for simply not knowing.
"Well, if there's even a chance something helpful could be there, some scrolls, old potions or poisons… We should see if we can go and poke around. Plus I do remember hearing about a wizard from this area with some rather interesting experiments…" Gale interjected, and Avai immediately lost any sort of grip on the calm she was attempting to find within herself.
"We aren't going there. End of, no more discussion," Avai spat out quickly.
"I don't remember you making choices for all of us single-handedly," Gale replied dryly, head tilted ever so slightly. "I'd rather like to check it out, and I'm certain some of the others also would - we should decide as a group."
Under any normal circumstances, discussing any normal outing, Avai would have agreed. She was no leader, she didn't wish to make decisions for others. Control wasn't something she desired, and she knew how she hated having the will of others forced upon her, and would almost never force her own will onto others. But this wasn't a normal circumstance. She'd thought she was free, even if under strange circumstances, and yet she wasn't - and now she may be dragged back to that tower yet again. No. She refused, she wouldn't, she couldn't. She couldn't let them see either - she didn't wish for them to walk around in the tower she'd been trapped in, see the place she'd had her darkest times. She'd rather they never knew it existed, but if that wasn't an option, they still certainly wouldn't go there.
"Gale, believe me when I say that I am deadly serious. We are not going there. Not a single one of us are stepping foot in there, and if you bring this to me again so help me I will use my raven form to pluck your eyes from your skull," She snapped. She thought she would regret her harsh words later, but in the midst of her almost panicked, angry state, she meant every word.
-----
She did indeed regret her words later. She'd said near nothing on the journey back to camp, and had very literally said nothing once they were back. She had distanced herself from the others, finding her way to a fallen log and settling upon it, silently staring at the calm waters of the lake, thinking on any possible way she could apologise to Gale but still keep it clear that the tower was off limits.
