Steele looked to the distance, with all of the crumbling buildings and flattened apartments dotting the horizon. While that attack had certainly made a mess of the city, it was thankfully mostly infrastructure that took the bullet. Infrastructure can be rebuilt, people are irreplaceable. Underneath a pile of chunked concrete, the neck of a beer bottle stuck out. Curiously, Steele reached down to pull it out, wondering if its contents had been spared from the rampage. Sadly, the glass bottom had been shattered out from underneath it, leaving a jagged amber crown in its place.

He sighs, before tossing it off to the side. “I’m just thankful we were able to stop it where we did. It could’ve been a lot worse.”

It seems only a small time ago when we all fought for our lives against the unforgiving hordes of Chimerae that flooded our streets. Hecaball players, Average Joe workers, bounty hunters, amateur and professional detectives, even our own elected officials stepped away from their desks and took the beasts to task. Each and every stripe of human being imaginable collectively raised their fists and fought for their fellows in a desperate bid to survive. Considering the fact that you, dear reader, are taking in these words at this very moment, it should be evident that our endeavors for defense were a resounding success.

Despite the massive casualties suffered by our ravenous invaders, we should not forget the sacrifices of the brave who stood defiant and, for their toils, summoned the winds to victory with their final breaths. We should never disregard those whom were unable to stand up and guard themselves through the fickle contrivances of fate.

Now, as we stand today, we’ve all swept away the dust of that horrific night and reinforced our guard to remain alert. In the subsequent year, the same group that threatened us has remained deathly silent. Have they learned their lesson, and turned tail to find other haunts? Has our vigil against their horrors shattered their resolve? Or are they simply biding their time for bigger and more drastic plots?

Remain on your guard, readers. The walls may have new studs, but a well-aimed punch will always cave in the toughest plaster.

"He's regarded as the second strongest emperor, and possibly the oldest. He have some reports of a fight against him and it went about as well as you could expect Still, seems he respect those who refuse to give up even against overwhelming odds."

"We have no real idea what his powers may be. All we have are reports of his sheer strength, size, and neat invulnerability. Perhaps he simply hasn't had an open he considers worthy enough to show off what he can really do."

"This is Tagetes, the rabbit eared emperor. As you can tell by the nickname she's got rabbit ear augmentations, I think? Like I said before, maybe they are natural..who knows with these folk."

"Tagetes hasn't been seen fighting so we don' have a lot of information on her style or what her combat abilities may be. We can assume they are fairly high though as she's managed to talk two of the other emperors down and that's not somethin everyone can do."

"She seems to posses the ability to heal someone from nearly any wound inflicted on them. There are rumors that she can pinpoint weak spots of sorts on any opponent and is able to somehow shut down someone's offense by striking them. Again, we've never heard of her fighting so how much of that is true, we may never know."

"The drawing of the big lady there? That's Morrigan. Least I think that's her name. She's one we got a little bit of combat information about. "Reports say she's got some weird ability to drain the life force out of someone. Maybe it makes her stronger, maybe she just does it for fun. She's been known to be a bit sadistic on the battlefield."

The twins sat in their room in silence. Linnaeus laid awake on his bed, propped up to read a book while music from his headphones drowned out the sound of the storm; Honey sat on the windowsill, gazing out across the street, admiring the heavy sheets of rain obscuring the cityscape. Neither had been able to sleep.

Linnaeus' music was interrupted by a ping on his device. He looked up to Honey, who hadn't heard the sound but still followed her intuition to look back over to her brother curiously. Without a word, Linnaeus read the message, eyes widened, and quickly shot over a worried glance to Honey, whose expression immediately changed, assuming correctly that their friend was in trouble.

Their worried glances turned to their bedroom door. Olivier was still home. Linnaeus looked to his sister and raised a synthetic finger to his lips. Honey nodded and sat still at the window, watching as her brother silently opened the door to head downstairs, not even bothering to put a shirt on. Any normal person's footsteps could be heard squeaking over the wooden steps every so often, but Linnaeus was trained better than to make any sound. Still, opening the front door wasn't going to be quiet, especially with the storm raging outside.

He took a deep breath to steel himself for any consequences this decision would have and swiftly opened the front door, grabbed Blake by the arm, and hurried her inside before closing the door again as quickly as possible.

"Kuso, you're drenched!" He commented in hushed tones. The feeling of wet cloth was new and unpleasant. He looked to his palm with disgust and shook off the moisture. "What are you-?" He shook his head and started over. "Never mind, get upstairs. And be quiet."

Meanwhile, At Power Plant 03...

“C’MON, YOU ROACHES! YOU CALL THOSE STUBS ‘BLADES’?!” Steele roars out as his guitar cleaves through the base of one Chimera’s bladed hands. The abomination cries out, before it’s cut short by a second strike to its shoulder. This was the fifth one to fall in his vigil over Power Plant 03. It was always something with these plants; if it wasn’t a masked murder(ess?)(er?), it just had to be these sin-ugly dung beetles.

Looking down at the severed blade, his eyebrow raises, and a wisecracking smile graces his lips. “Hey fellas, when we’re done, make sure to grab a few of these slicers and haul ‘em off back to the Cage! I’ve got an idea!” Whether or not they’d keep to their word, he’d obviously make sure to pick up on the bountiful bug-metal.

He had himself a decent defense strategy: Any of those things makes a lunge, it’d be up to Snaps with his chain to drag it back down to earth. Then, Steele would finish it off in kind. The rest of his personal squad stood inside, taking potshots whenever they were absolutely certain they couldn’t hit any of their brothers.

This was a good plan in the beginning, but now it seemed that the herd was beginning to grow; both in number and restlessness. It was obvious that there was no such thing as ‘will’ in their minds. Just ruthless, killer efficiency.

Alright... it was back to the church for Night, much to his chagrin. Still, he figured if anyone could help him understand what was going on, it’d be Brother Solomon. He didn’t much care for the acolytes, but as long as Solomon was there, he wouldn’t need to worry about them.

Just in case there would be any church-goers or -workers about, he kept his hood up over his ears. Today, he wasn’t here to cause any trouble. He’d go in, ask to see the priest, ignore the rest of the clergy, and go about his day; he’d attempt to be as polite as possible.

When he arrived at the large cathedral, Night paused a moment. He couldn’t remember if he could just walk right in or if he’d need to knock. So, he tested the door with a slight push and after feeling it give a bit, he opened it all the way and hesitantly stepped inside. He expected to be greeted at the door and so didn’t yell out for anyone quite yet.

Ability Description: When his anger or pride reaches a breaking point, his strength through Spartan Spirit increases allowing for more brutal and deadlier hits with his shield Aegis Alpha (Shield Mode), Aegis Tau (Bladed Shield Mode), Aegis Tau Epsilon (Long Range- Bladed Shield Mode), and lastly Aegis Lambda Sigma (Shield and Mace mode)

Weaknesses- His Pride and Anger can be taken advantage of leaving him wide open to brutal attacks, and how his own anger may make him do something incredibly reckless or idiotic in a sense.

Bio: When born in the kingdom of Calere in the city of Iteru, there was one thing that his father sought him out to be. A Proud Warrior who would happily fight against the Bandits clans without a second thought. However, this was not the case as Hideyoshi would grow up to be what his father did not expect him to be a Bounty Hunter at the age of twenty which at first his father did not approve of, but later on understood his sons intention and wished him good luck as he gave him his shield which was passed down from generation to Generation as Hideyoshi traveled to Apricus and became a Bounty Hunter, which he dealt with capturing his opponents dead or alive, as he kept on doing this... until slowly over time he would grow older and yet more wiser. But with age came times where even the fights that were easy became difficult... yet it was one fight was when he realized....

He needed to get GREEDY....

Which he EXPLODED with rage as he was reinvigorated with strength he never had felt before, making him feel as if he was that young man again. Which he managed to survive his fight. Yet, when he learned about his awakened ability he had to train it, hone it, and master it, while upgrading his shield for better combat use.

Thus he stated: "I shall be everyones shield.. until the day I DIE."

“They took my earring, and one of the badges from my coat. I had some medals there. Not that they’re real, but they were bloody expensive.... The earring's got a feather on it.”

Sun stood behind them, arms crossed with a wide smirk. “Oh, I didn’t lose anything, I just wanted to watch them try to get their stuff back. And this guy,” he pat Sage’s shoulder, “just needed to get out a little. We’ll be quiet.”

“You get pissy about going out to parties, but this is fun for you?”

“Shhhh, quiet.”
