Some Halloween headcanons for ARR

Dawn Faction

Koga

Gets invited to Halloween parties

Likes that he can attend them without having to wear a suit

He dresses up and covers his face with a mask so people don't recognize him easily

To his annoyance, Toichiro can still recognize him

Asks his maid to pack some candies for the kids who would swing by his house

Kuya

Lets his wings out on full display since people would just think it's his costume

People stare because it looks so realistic (it is real *wink wink*)

Kids would ask to touch it to which he promptly replies, "No"

Kids have to shout to wake him up since he is usually found sleeping on the veranda instead of handing out the treats at Koga's house

Aoi

Goes all out with his cooking to make sure there are a variety of sweets they can hand out

He tries to make Western sweets since it is a Western holiday - he also puts his art skills to use by designing them

Asks Yura to taste test for him. He is grateful to Yura despite his grumbling when Yura asks for more

Also decorates Raccord to give it the Halloween vibe

"Oji-san, lend me a hand!"

Ginnojo

Also packs candies at his shop

Kuro helps him out with the packing

He displays books with spooky stories since they seem to be popular during this time

"Do I really have to wear this?"

Gets this soft look on his face when he hands out treats

Yura

Volunteers to help with packing candies at Raccord since he's got nothing better to do.

Works as the taste tester when Aoi tries to recreate Western sweets.

"Pray, Sir Aoi, this "cookie" tastes good! Can I have some more?"

Eats more than the candies that he packed.

On Halloween, he takes on his child form, dresses up and lines up with the kids to ask for treats.

Twilight Faction

Toichiro

Also gets invited to Halloween parties

Dresses up like a prince

Likes to annoy Koga since he can easily recognize him

Sticks to Koga since these types of parties do not require them to make their rounds

Still as polite as he can usually be when people approach him

Shizuki

Babysits Kogare since Kogare visits on Halloween

Packs candies with Kogare

"Kogare, hide your ears and tail." To which Kogare replies, "But why is Kuya-san allowed to show his wings?!"

The one who hands out the treats at Toichiro's manor since Kogare also makes his rounds to other houses

Kuro

Helps out at Raccord and Kusanagi Books during candy packing

Also joins in on the fun when Aoi has new sweet samples

Performs in front of Raccord and Kusanagi Books on Halloween

He does it for the promotion of their Halloween show later that night

"If you like what you see, watch the show of Lorenzi Circus Troupe tonight and be whisked away to a night filled with mystery!"

Oji

Always seems to be busy 'entertaining' his customers so he barely helps Aoi with packing candies

He thought he could get away with not wearing a costume so the Raccord gang had to force him to wear something for Halloween

"Aoi-chan, 1 pack of candy for the young lady here"

Gaku

Also helps out at Raccord since Yura is there

Makes tiny trinkets like jack-in-the-box and Chinese finger trap and drops them randomly inside the candy packs

Heaps wasabi on top of the sweets so he can eat the same thing as Yura

Holds back his laughter when he sees the children find themselves trapped in the Chinese finger trap.

"Do you need help with that?"

A/N : Hi again, I uploaded chapter 9 early huh? Well, I don't have anything else to do, so yeah. The details that will be covered here might be interesting if you ask me so I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Toichiro : "Now, will you tell us why are you here, Kogare?"

Kogare : "Oh goodness gracious, I almost forgot, I have an urgent message for you from the village, Master Toichiro."

Those words caught both Toichiro and Futaba off guard, and Toichiro narrows his eyes, waiting for Kogare to continue his words.

Kogare : "The prophet pays a surprise visit to the Kitsune village and tells Master Keichiro about something very important."

Futaba : "The prophet? You mean Chizuko?!"

Toichiro : "...what did she say?"

Kogare : "She told us this 'There is an ominous presence lurking around that could put the capital and its people in imminent danger.' That's what she said."

A deadly silence prevailed. What Kogare said was very shocking. Toichiro remained silent for a moment, then sighed.

Toichiro : "Is that all you heard?"

Kogare : "Yes, I was there when she mentioned all of this, I was, and when I heard about this, I ran as fast as I can to make sure to inform you, Master Toichiro."

Futaba : "Didn't the prophet give more details about this presence?"

Kogare : "The villagers wanted to know more details, but the prophet demanded too much, so we couldn't find out more."

As it is known about the prophet, she usually asks for something valuable in exchange for her services and prophecies, Kogare's answer makes Futaba even more nervous.

Toichiro : "If she's right, and her prophecy is about the capital, then..."

Futaba : "Why didn't she come to the capital herself to reveal this prophecy?"

Toichiro : "I have a theory that she already knows the identity of this ominous presence, and the only way to deliver her prophecy is to have Kogare run to inform us."

Futaba : "You mean she's deliberately avoiding it? Like...that she never wanted to confront it if she came here?

After throwing her own theory out into the open, Futaba said in a worried tone. Kogare and Toichiro stared at her after she said what she said but neither of them said anything.

Fukajiro : "Wonderful, these are really news to me!"

After the theory session between Futaba and Toichiro, Fukajiro interrupts them as she enters the living room with Shizuki.

Shizuki : "I'm afraid we interrupted something important?"

Shizuki said, looking at the three sitting in the living room.

Toichiro : "Not at all, I see you enjoyed your little trip?"

Toichiro says, trying to change the subject.

Fukajiro : "Of course, thank you. You really have a good collection, Mr. Toichiro."

Kogare : "I agree with you here, little lady."

Kogare said excitedly looking at Fukajiro...there was a silence again and Fukajiro stares at the little boy who said this while she tilts her head to the side in surprise.

Fukajiro : "And you are...?"

Later, Kogare and Fukajiro sit eating snacks Shizuki made for them. On the other hand, Shizuki joins Futaba and Toichiro in their earlier discussion about the prophet.

Shizuki : "So there's another threat here in the capital?"

Futaba : "You heard about the sudden collapse phenomenon, right?"

Toichiro : "I suppose these are all hints for this dangerous presence, it seems we are dealing with a new ayakashi fellow we know nothing about, but there's something makes me wondering, why are you so interested in this?"

Futaba : "Huh?"

Futaba is surprised by the Kitsune's question and looks him in the eyes as he does the same. Futaba seems determined to know the truth behind what is really going on around her, and she will do anything to find out everything. It's her nature and no one can change that...

Toichiro : "I mean, the issue about the capital yes. But you understand that you have nothing to do with it, even though we know that the military and Major Aizen will take care of it themselves. They didn't send you any orders to ask for your help, am I right?"

When Aizen sends any orders to her, it means that the matter is serious and urgent and must be resolved as soon as possible, but he has not done so yet, Futaba is trying to act on her own. Futaba begins by repeating what Toichiro said to her so that she can choose the right words wisely and give him a straight answer. After a few seconds of thought, she raises her head and looks at Kitsune and his valet.

Futaba : "This ayakashi disturbs the peace of the capital and terrifies many people. I know it's none of my business but...as an almost-victim to this phenomenon...I want to do something about it, I don't know what would have happened to me if I hadn't survived that incident at my school, and I'm sure it was that ayakashi's doing, I don't want anyone else to go through what I and the rest of the victims have already experienced..."

She spoke without hesitation, but when she reached this point she bit her lips and looked down. Toichiro and Shizuki exchanged looks when she suddenly stops but they both know that there's more behind that silence.

Futaba : "And...if I don't do something to stop it, I'm afraid I'll fall victim to it again. Or worse...people I care about might get hurt, too."

Futaba says, looking directly at Toichiro and Shizuki to make sure that what she said reached them.  Toichiro begins to chuckle and Futaba looks at him, tilting her head to the side, wondering why he is laughing.

Toichiro : "Just as I expected to you."

Futaba : "Wait, you already knew that I have an answer for this, right?"

She asked the fox, but he did not answer her, and his smirk widened more, indicating that her conclusion was correct...Sometime later, Futaba and Fukajiro decide to leave the Yuri's household so Fukajiro begins to bow.

Fukajiro : "Thank you for your kind hospitality, Mr. Toichiro, it was an honor to meet you."

She said, still bowing her head in affirmation of her gratitude, and Toichiro meeting her gratitude with a smile.

Toichiro : "The honor is mine, and it seems I'm not the only one who really enjoys having you here today. Right, Kogare?"

Kogare : "Sure, I look forward to meeting you soon, Mistress Fukajiro."

Fukajiro : "Take care of the little fox for me, alright Kogare?"

Fukajiro says and it seems they managed to cover up the sudden disappearance of the little fox.

Shizuki : "We'll discuss our business again next time, Miss Futaba."

Shizuki said looking at Futaba trying to decipher what they discussed without saying anything specific so Futaba understood and nodded, another farewell from Fukagero and then she and Futaba head outside the Yuri household.

Minor spoilers for Toichiro’s route below!

-Toichiro sees Kogare as his responsibility, and somewhere in between a kid brother and a younger cousin. Kogare knows this, and it’s one of the reasons he cares about Toichiro so much

-Kid!Toichiro was actually REALLY bad at pranking and tricks  .

-His brother Kyoichiro is the one who taught him how to be a proper kitsune

-Toichiro actually does love fried tofu

-Kid!Toichiro would always get in trouble for stealing extra...when he got caught

-Kid!Toichiro also absolutely tripped over his tails. Like, constantly. Especially when running.

-Toichiro still chuckles when he sees kits with the same problem. If no one is looking, he’ll offer tips on how to not trip.

-Shizuki has absolutely found Toichiro sleeping curled up next to a fire. He’s just stopped questioning it.

-Occasionally Kogare will curl up there too

-The true tragedy is small home cameras have not been invented yet. Otherwise Shizuki would have the perfect blackmail material.

-Toichiro hates his human form because human ears just don’t feel right. When he was younger, he whined that “You can’t even move them! They’re just stuck to the side of your head!”

-Now he’s adjusted to switching back to his proper form immediately after he’s out of eyesight of humans.

-Tween!Toichiro has absolutely pulled at Shizuki’s ears, wanting to know how he could even hear with them.

-Shizuki still remembers this, and just mentally catalogs it as “embarrassing stories to either torture Master Toichiro with, or to tell to the woman he decides to marry.”

-Shizuki has a whole book of tales that he’s just waiting for the opportune moment to tell.

-Toichiro has no idea. ...Until he officially declared his intentions with Futaba. Then Shizuki, smirking mind you, began telling Futaba all sorts of stories. And Toichiro could do nothing.

So who’s your favorite minor character in Ayakashi? Mine is probably Kogare, my sweet little Fox son who wants to be like Shizuki when he’s all grown up

I haven’t gotten much farther because of Twst or RF4 Special (I am determined to get that new game+) and my sister got me started on Breath of the Wild this morning (haven’t played a Zelda game since Nintendo 64 Ocarina of Time was still a thing lol) 😅

But uh… yeah.

Kogare was super cute!!! Toichiro was so sweet to him. 🥺 Ten out of ten, must protecc. Baby boy went all over to collect a bunch of random bells for Toichiro like!!! Aghhhhh. So cute. 💕

So I finished reading Ayakashi twilight faction and here are my thoughts:

Kogare is my child now.

That Zantestu guy? Yeah he's hot, too bad he is non-romancable and a villain. :(

I don't trust Tastu's dad at all

Kogare is like the most adorable thing in this game, yes even cuter than Kuro

Kuro was also pretty cute too though, how dare these people call him a monster!

I can't get over Kogare, he is babey

The twin thing was a pretty good twist, does explain why in the Dawn faction Gaku and Yura didn't mention the other wand.

TOICHIRO’S ROUTE SPOILERS

So finally finished it last night. And I loved it. The writing was great, the character development was great, and it balanced out funny moments with serious moments. (Also I enjoyed how it validated some of my headcanons, so that was fun.)

So let’s have some post-route-reading headcanons!

-No one was surprised that Futaba wasn’t ACTUALLY Shizzy’s woman. They’re all kitsune, at least half of them figured it was a trick.

-Futaba did ask for details on how Shizuki’s fanclub came to be. Shizuki stayed quiet on the subject, but between Toichiro, Kogare, and what info Koga and Kuya had already gathered, she managed to get a pretty good picture.

-So how did it come to be? Shizuki is polite to a fault, always a gentleman, walked lady Kitsune home, and had no tolerance for those who get into fights just to show off. Total catch. (Which meant Toichiro started spreading rumors about Shizuki always having a different woman, which was amplified when Shizuki actually did get together with someone.)

-Nachi still isn’t sure how he feels about Futaba and Toichiro being together...Like, sure Futaba is happy, but a kitsune?!

-Kogare decided that he was now going to be Futaba’s retainer. Of course he decided this without telling anyone. Mototaka was very confused one morning when he woke up to a random boy making morning tea in the kitchen.

-Several explanations later, it got worked out. And Futaba admitted to her father that she and Toichiro were together.

-Mototaka wasn’t surprised. At all. Requesting an item being specifically delivered by her isn’t what he’d call subtle.

-Though he did notice that as Kogare left, ears seemed to sprout on the lad’s head...Hmm...

-Kogare does indeed end up being the reason Mototaka finds out about the Ayakashi.

-He accepts it, and his daughter. All of his daughter’s friends seem to be nice people after all.

-Futaba loves all sides of Toichiro, even the more aggravating sides.

-Futaba decided to pick up some combat training, and combat talismans. Once she revealed them to Toichiro, they started working on utilizing them in side by side combat.

-Toichiro will never admit it, but he adores that side of her. Well, all sides of her. Bu he appreciates she understood that he wants to fight alongside her, not just protect her.

-Every time Toichiro, Shizuki, and Futaba go back to the village, the kits ask about Kuro. Eventually they start bringing him along just to please them. Kuro is happy the kits remember him!

Perhaps some Futaba/Toichiro fluff hcs? I'm riding the high after reading his route, but my doodling can only fill the void so much. ;w; Thank you!

Fluff hc’s for the fluffy boi. (Admittedly I still need to finish reading the route, but bonus is no route spoilers for those who haven’t gottena chance yet!)

-Toichiro is perfect for wintertime cuddling. He runs warm, and has floofy tails.

-If they’d cuddling while his tails are out, Futaba always finds herself absentmindedly petting them.

-Toichiro was hesitant to let Futaba into the darker aspect of his life, until she out-stubborned the fox. Her out-stubborning him only made him fall in love with her more.

-Toichiro is always kind and playful to the kits at Kitsune village. He’s played with them, taught them how to properly prank, and even helped some of them do their hair.

-He of course, was certain Futaba would laugh at this apparent change in personality. After all, he’s supposed to be the suave noble. Of course Futaba adores that side of him.

-The kits of Kitsune Village weren’t sure what to make of this human...Until she started playing with them too. So of course when the elders had qualms with the relationship, they were outnumbered by kits led by Kogare and their amused parents.

-Toichiro will absent mindedly braid Futaba’s hair. Or purposefully braid it. She has woken up from naps with expertly braided hair. Toichiro of course denies everything.

-Futaba joins Shizuki in being exasperated with some of Toichiro’s more...elaborate pranks.

-Shizuki is just glad that there’s someone who can help him wrangle his master.

-So of course there are days when Futaba’s tea and pastries are perfect, while Toichiro’s have been subtly messed with.

-Koga teases Toichiro about “Finally finding a woman to settle with.” Toichiro sends him a crate of peaches.

           Toichiro looked at the kitchen, knowing that he would probably be murdered this evening. It was…Disaster would be putting it lightly. And as Kogare had been at Raccord all day, there was no possible way to blame it on the kit. The kitchen nearly looked like a winter wonderland with the flour that had reached places he had no idea were possible.  It was half tempting to just toss around sugar, just to give it the proper sparkle. Except he didn’t need to give Shizuki another reason to find a creative way to torture him until he begged for mercy.

           Toichiro sighed, his ears drooping a bit. This is what he gets for trying to act like a commoner. Futaba had been going on about how delicious some Western cookies were, and Kuro brought up, with a wink towards him no less, that homemade ones would probably taste better. So. After some research, and secret ingredient purchasing, Toichiro decided that he would show Futaba that he was absolutely capable of doing such menial things as making cookies. He would make her the best Western cookies she would ever taste. Better than some cheeky shop.

           So he told Futaba to come by this evening, and sent Shizuki out with Oji. He would prove he isn’t just some prissy nobleman. No matter what Shizuki said.

Except…The dough was being difficult when it came to adding the flour and cocoa powder, and as soon as he put all his strength into stirring, the bowl went flying, as did all the dry, powdery ingredients. He just knew he was covered in the bloody stuff.

“Oh my.” A voice said behind him. He whirled around, and saw Futaba standing there, very poorly hiding a smirk behind her hand. “Trouble?”

“I…Nothing I can’t handle.” Toichiro said, standing up straight, his ears back to normal, instead of being all sad like a kit’s. “You go wait in the drawing room.”

Futaba giggled. “What? And you’ll actually clean this? What happens when Shizuki comes home?”

Toichiro flushed. “Shizuki won’t know anything had ever happened.”

Futaba crossed her arms. “Toichiro. Do you even know where the cleaning supplies are kept?”

Toichiro rolled his eyes. “I highly doubt Shizuki put them anywhere complicated.”

Futaba approached him, and dusted some flour off his ears. “Mhm. Just let me help you. Before Shizuki dismembers you limb from limb.”

Toichiro sighed. “Fine, fine. If you insist. Only remember that you forced yourself to do this, if you feel like complaining.”

Futaba only giggled and headed for a closet. Toichiro followed

Together, they managed to get the kitchen mostly clean. By the time Shizuki came back, he need only give an exasperated sigh. Then proceeded to make the most delicious cookies ever, which Toichiro insisted was the plan all along, and totally wasn’t a fluke. Futaba gave her kitsune a teasing shove…Then a kiss. It’s the thought that counts.
