pentiment is making me CRY my eyes out wow i came here for the medieval detective game and wanted to play a silly artist who gets caught up in a whirlwind of trysts with some handsome monks and cunty nuns at this mysterious abbey and now i’m here for what is turning out to be the most brilliant narrative focused game i’ve played since patho 1 and disco elysium…GORGEOUS art and a meaningful story wow just 10/10 across the board

nope, you won't! the second game is a parallel universe so you'll be good to just hop right in. the character creator is free to download as well. i HIGHLY recommend the original because to this day it's the most fascinating and unique fantasy RPG i've ever played. if you're looking for LPs of the game to watch from knowledgeable players, janine and dia are fantastic - they also have guests on like austin walker who absolutely know this world inside out.

itsuno is just one of those ballsy creators that likes to strap you into a rollercoaster and doesn't let you hop off. it is a love letter to fantasy classics first a foremost but it also subverts a lot of genre expectations, even just in 'how video games work'. the best part is that gransys is by far one of the best worlds you'll explore because of how you gradually discover the hidden mechanics in the game. it doesn't feel 'natural' but rather becomes natural, like how demons souls/dark souls established its own lineage of games emulating the 'otherly' feel of it, which eventually...became natural. dragon's dogma feels like that. a game that should have ended up like that, and i hope with the launch of the sequel, itsuno gets to fully realise that vision. a long time coming. also the cc in the original is still amazing for its time and you still have body type options you see in the free creator they put up! lots of presets, some sliders, skin types etc. the sequel really just built upon what already existed which is 100% what everyone wanted! and if you do like handheld gaming i can confirm the switch port is really good.
