okay, hear me out...
The team from Telegrapher loudspeakers (who we know from sharing a recent vid with Richard with their gear) went to the NAMM show (which i gather is a big show in the tech-people music scene)
...and they mention visitors from Rammstein team and 'other friends we can't mention here'...
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
...so my fanfic-spidey-sense is imagining Richard being there ❤️🖤
(okay, Sky van Hof is more likely, but one can dream... 😊)

will Asterian be getting lite version like Solaria did?
ASTERIAN will be getting a Lite version like SOLARIA did, after his original song contest is launched! While we had to delay this contest when our schedule was re-arranged to accommodate SAROS' development and other preparations for our appearance at the NAMM Show and continuing development afterwards, ASTERIAN's original song contest should be happening soon. We are hoping to minimize our overlap with the contest currently being run by our colleagues at AUDIOLOGIE, so please expect it to begin closer to the end of their contest.

NAMM 2023 Taught Me:
Tonight I met people who flew to California from all over the world to attend the NAMM Show.
About 20 of us met up at a restaurant before attending an Augspurger after party.
I was sitting next to producers & engineers from Detroit, Baltimore, Virginia, DC, New York, Arizona, Denver, Miami, Sacramento… and even one girl who drove all the way to Canada… just to attend NAMM. All of them came, just for NAMM.
Meanwhile, I live 15 minutes from NAMM and I’ve never attended on the first day because for some reason I “thought it was cool” not go until the second day. Stupid.
Everyone at the restaurant said that they got to NAMM first thing in the morning and stayed until it was over.
A producer from Detroit said that NAMM was really the only place for him to network, meet other producers and talk to companies & vendors and possibly get free gear to use.
You realize that everyone is not privileged to live in the music industry, live close to or even know anybody connected to the music industry, so events like NAMM are their only chance to connect with anyone that can help propel their journey.
That really hit me. I’m thankful for the insight and lesson. Huge lesson.
Going forward, I will take full advantage or any and all networking opportunities as if I didn’t already have access to them, just out of respect for the game. I am not above networking. I am not above going through the same processes as someone who needs to.
Tomorrow, I will be at NAMM first thing in the morning and I will stay until it’s over.
I will intentionally network. Seek new opportunities. New partnerships. I will speak about Monster Sessions & M-League. I will invite people to check out my content and look to connect with people after the event.
I will follow new people on IG (something I hate doing).
I will create a platform that allows music creatives to travel to LA for more networking opportunities. I will connect more artists to their peers and opportunities. I will connect with partners & sponsors to be a hub for opportunity and community.
I will do my part.
Dope lesson for me today and NAMM was super dope, despite Waves Audio & Arturia not being there.

In 2019 Frankie had months where she had as many as 30 bookings, sometimes performing twice in the same day (even three times in a day on a few occasions).  This all coincided with the release of her album, “Brave,” which featured eight original songs. That momentum was carried over into 2020 as she began the year by being selected by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) to perform at their massive Winter Show in Anaheim, California, where more than 100 thousand attendees converge for four days of tradeshow and conference activity.  While out west, Frankie also had the opportunity to perform at the House of Blues Anaheim. Frankie Raye has artist deals with G7th Capos and Mogami Cables.

🎶 for your character to play music or sing to mine
If they were faking it, he hadn’t cared. If in this moment, even as she laid there, simply enjoying the quiet that had come at the end of their love making it meant absolutely nothing in the divine, grand scheme of things. He would cherish it until the day he died again. Being with Maja these days felt like some strange revival. There was a piece of him lost to time that had returned with finding her again and something in him had wanted to hold onto it for dear life.
He’d missed her, Elias missed her, and he knew that when it was all over in this life he’d be back as he was in the underworld, begging Melone to let him return. Let him come back to her and this time he’d remember. He’d search for her for as long as she remained a living doll on this gods forsaken Earth. He told himself that, every time the kissed again, every time she held his hand and she smiled at him, but underneath it all there was still a sad...incompleteness.
“Here,” he said with a soft grunt, helping her off his form so he could slip out of the bed, “I want to show you something.” Kakuzo stood to his feet, grabbing his boxers from the floor and pulling them on before exiting the room for a moment. He made his way to his little office, a memoriam of his music that housed all of his guitars and among other things. Off the wall came his one and only Martin NAMM Limited, the Ox-blood color glinting in the dim light of the room as he returned.
“Believe it or not,” he said softly, giving her a warm smile as he settled back onto the crumpled sheets. “I got this guitar, on the same street that we met on when I was touring. I don’t remember the shop before it completely of course, but I remembered the street recently when we started...talking,” the demi-god added for lack of a better word, “again. And this was in a pawn shop there. The guy sold it to me super cheap, he’s a fucking idiot had no idea how awesome it was, I had it repolished and things to make it look new enough to have on stage.”
He fitted the guitar onto his lap, slinging his arm over the side of it as he began to test out a few cords before playing a slow, modern pop tune. At first he began humming, only to melt into the few lyrics that he could remember from the first verse though he slowed it down quite a bit from the original:
“Gravity’s holding me back, I want you to hold out the palm of your hand,
why don’t we leave it at that?” There was a slight pause in the lyrics he’d forgotten, filled with the gentle pluck of the strings as he hummed:
“Seems like you can’t be replaced, and I’m the one who will stay, oh.
In this world, it’s just us, you know it’s not the same as it was. As it was.”
As he remembered more he poured it over the guitar, a gentle melody that plucked amicably at the strings, a vast contrast from the original retro sound of the song. His eyes closed and his head tilted, a sad smile on his lips as the song came to a close:
“Go home, go ahead. Get high-speed internet, I don’t wanna talk about the way it was...
As it was, as it was. You know it’s not the same, as it was.”

Ok i have to say it bc i saw a post about how realistic vocal synths are missing some point about how vocal synths should sound less humans because thats how they always sounded. also even seeing comments very very much misunderstanding what an AI voice bank is in the context of something like Synthesizer V.
If you're not in the vocsynth community you probably don't see any discussion at all over the general consensus people have come to regarding AI voices, and also in general how long time producers who grew with Vocaloid see them too. For one- AI voices are not at all like your AI art, or even those AI programs that mimic character voices. AI voices in a synth are made with a voice provider who completely consents to recording and it paid for their work. They consent to be an instrument, and thats what vocal synths are (mind yourself in how you humanize vocal synths.... they are instruments.)
AI voices and non-AI voices are hardly at conflict with each other in terms of choice... there is a massive userbase of producers who use vocaloid. Why? well, vocaloid has its following. vocsynth became popular because of vocaloid. producers use vocaloid still because its popular. in addition to that we have companies liek Crypton who seem to know full well they shouldnt aim to make a realistic miku- look at their attempts with miku NT, as she is very akin to her V2 voice. (lets ignore that they havent been updating NT right now)
AI voices that get made for existing characters should be seen as an alternative instrument, a entirely different option for its specific strengths. V Flower and Ci Flower are quite different. Neither is worse than the other, they are just very different instruments and if you follow Flower artists you would find that those using Flower for a long time haven't switched to Ci Flower because its not about whether she's "better" for being AI.... its because those artists use V Flower for her robotic sound and her tone. Artists know what they want. And they won't put down older voices even if some think AI is better. On the other hand there are many picking up Ci Flower because they never licked Flower's robotic voice and her strong tone! It works for a variety of people.
You have to remember vocal synths are an instruments and have been incredibly not profitable especially in the western side. AI voices are majorly and almost purely being advirtized to professionals, and "normal" music people are starting to catch on. Eclipse Sounds has really been breaking through, appeared at NAMM, is being discussed heavily on normal music producers forums with lots of positive feedback and more people actually buying these things. Producers were turned off by eastern vocal synths with their characters and anime focused fan bases. sorry, but the middle aged man in hollywood making music isn't finding hatsune miku that appealing, thats just how it is. and its also again, that companies were not making money. and its why the western voices we wanted to see (english speaking voices) were not happening.
There are two sides to the vocal synth scene that people not in it need to recognize-- AI and non-AI aren't fighting popularity. There is actually a much bigger scene for Vocaloid and there always will be. Vocaloid was a breakthrough, and people love it for its characters. There will always be people using Vocaloid because of its characters and its specific sound! And there is nothing bad about AI voices. It is an incredible technological feat to see how human these voices are becoming. Seeing the machine voice come to life. It is all equal and as a long time vocal synth user it should be welcomed. Yes, there are many in the community who really dont like the AI voices, but the opinion should not be lead with some misunderstanding that we are losing the old ones, and that people are only going to move to the new ones. People who are neutral and use old ones know full well there is always going to be a scene for the old. This is not the scary and dehumanizing "AI" that we see online, please don't get it mixed up.

Thanks god main man Chuggy Carter Leslie J. Carter came out again to play our 2023 NAMM Show Kickoff concert - Chuggy's been playing on my band faithfully since August of 1989, he knows my music in his sleep and always has my back! Congas and Percussion Master! I have always been a fan of Chuggy Carter's playing, we finally got to start working together when I got a 5-nighter at NY's premier live music restaurant club Mikell's on Colombus Avenue & 97th Street - I had my 1959 Hammond B3 there, on the band then: Bernard Purdie, Alex Foster, Barry Finnerty, Chuggy and myself at the B3 - the club was full of great musicians including the late greats Hugh Masekela, Cornell Dupree
(Cornell sat in with us) and that was the beginning of a longtime great association and besides being one of the best congueros, Chuggy is a great friend above and beyond the call of duty on a gig! Chuggy plays GON BOPS instuments for some years now - but he can make the groove on everything and anything including a chair or even with just his hands - thank you Chuggy!! - Jon Hammond - Jon Hammond Band - Jon Hammond Organ Group

Jon: very special friend Chuck Surack, we tried to get him to sit in with my band on tenor saxophone for 2023 NAMM Show Kickoff, but of course Chuck too busy with constant meetings - founder of Sweetwater folks!

"Chuck Surack is an American entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist, and musician, best known as the founder of Sweetwater Sound, a leading retailer of musical instruments and professional audio equipment.
Surack was born in Waverly, Ohio, his family later relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Surack was active in the Boy Scouts,[3] and attended Wayne High School, where he played saxophone in the school's marching band. Following high school, Surack toured with a band as a saxophone player and keyboardist.[4] In 1979 Surack decided to stop touring, and returned to his hometown of Fort Wayne, where he has continued to work as a musician to the present day, playing saxophone and keyboard as part of two bands, Prime Time[5] and the Sweetwater All Stars.[6] Upon settling back in Fort Wayne in 1979, Surack created a mobile 4-track recording studio within his Volkswagen Bus.
