Beutepanzern: The Imperial German Army's Captured Tanks
During the First World War Germany struggled to produce its own tanks, with no more than 20 A7Vs being built, instead the Imperial German Army made liberal use of captured allied tanks.

After being involved in significant battles defending their homeland, this Polish 7TP light tank was captured by the German Wehrmacht in the battle for Poland in 1939. The 7TP was armed with a Bofors 37mm main gun. Whilst appearing light weight compared to later tank guns, battlefield experience showed the Bofors was able to penetrate the armour of every German tank on the battlefield.
The local Panzerwaffe used it to knock out Polish bunkers and strong points of defense before sending it west to bolster the defense of France.
It was captured by Allied forces in 1944 when these photographs were taken.

Hey Tumblr,
Got a question, specifically for tank lovers
Is the R40 Cavalry Tank (seen as Beutepanzer on the left) a later upgrade variant of the H35 (seen in proper French markings on right)?
I’m starting a French Division Legere Mecanique Army for Bolt Action, and running three Souma S35s is looking expensive the only other option I have for my army is a H35, but Warlord games don’t sell a kit. They do sell a R40 kit though. Could I run R40s as H35s? I’d only have one in my army.

From the Mr Alfred Thomas Sharp photo collection, AWM J00649, was taken in Passchendaele, Belgium. It shows " Conqueror” a damaged Mark IV Female Tank, C47 (s/n 2510) from 'C' Battalion, 9 Coy lies where it was abandoned by its commander, 2nd Lt W Moore and crew #OTD Jul 31 1917.
Not to be confused with another Tank dubbed C47, s/n 4651, Conqueror II which was captured by the Germans and sent for repair at the BAKP 20 on April 18 to be used as a Beutepanzer, a British Tank used by the Germans.
Stats for French tanks but similar to British losses.
