just hit 50k in cryptids wip :’)

#chugging along but the book is getting WRITTEN #I have 12.5 scene left btw… #technically in my outline I’m a little past the halfway point #but I think I have ~30k left to go 👀👀 #it’s always so funny when you reach a milestone like this bc despite the agony of writing the thing you get all tingly and sappy like.. #oh yeah :’) I wrote all that!! I’ve made it so far!! #ive got weird feelings abt this story but i am quite proud #it’s also been a while since I’ve progressed this far with an original project and ngl.. I really missed this feeling 😭 #creating is cool!!! we love writing!!! #and just you wait until I reach the end. I’m gonna be so annoying about it (<— will most likely feel too shy to even say anything) #I wrote 5 scenes in like.. twoish weeks. which doesn’t seem like a lot but with the little time I have it honestly is #so if I’m consistent I could finish this draft in ~4 weeks???? 👀👀👀 like. #in a month I could have another book done. that’d be crazy. #anyway. yeehaw :D #blahblahbills #lol I know this means nothing to most people bc I literally never share anything abt this project lol #ew I used lol at the beginning and end of that tag but I don’t feel like retyping all that 💀

Gonna talk about my writing project but in typical ‘dahl talks about their wip’ fashion it’ll be extremely vague and won’t make any sense lol I just really need to say this, especially now that I'm so close to the end and it’s been something I’ve been feeling for a while too

so the further I get into the project, the more I feel like I've ventured so far from the original inspiration of this story and it makes me a little bit sad.

I wrote the original version in 2021 and looking back at it, it’s a completely different story than what I’m writing now. it was silly and lighthearted which… is not at all what its current state is like. I’m not entirely upset about it, because this new version has so much more substance and I'm extremely proud of it. I feel like I'm finally saying something and the message overall is really meaningful to me.

last night, I realized how I should title the story. Usually that’s a great feeling. Titling is one of the hardest things after all. But honestly it just left me even more conflicted. For the longest time I thought I knew what the title would be: something very similar to the original title (cryptlandia, the reason why i often refer to it as ‘cryptids wip’, which is extremely ironic bc the story doesn’t even focus on cryptids much anymore). That plan won’t work anymore though, because it no longer fits the tone of the story. Another reminder of the story’s evolution. I’m debating something different now, something more sincere, which has me feeling like I’ve completely lost the heart of the story.

Idk on one hand I’m really happy and proud of how this story’s evolved, but ngl it also hurts to see it shift so far from what i originally wrote.

I created original cryptids #It was going to be a graphic novel!! #I know that version wasn’t good it just sucks looking back and wondering what could’ve been #like i didn’t abandon every idea from the original story #I took parts i liked and parts i knew would work #But there’s still sections that just no longer fit the story anymore #At the end of the day the story i’m telling now is far superior and much more important than what i had previously and i don’t regret it #I /like/ my story. I like how it’s grounded in reality more than the last #It’s just a little sad that’s all. But its a natural part of the writing process I just have to accept it. #anyway that’s all 👍 #blahblahbills

had a dream Shane and Ryan were on tour and my sister and I caught Ryan after the show and bombarded him with a bunch of random ghost theories and then pierce the veil closed the show for them but tickets were crazy expensive so my sister and I watched from the view of an elevator?? And during the concert Vic and Tony’s guitar playing was so intense that the audience started withering away and the music formed cracks in the earth releasing a green glow and everything started crumbling like it was literally the end of the world

#the first half was likely fueled by my disappointment that watcher announced a uk tour and im missing them by two months lol #idk what the ptv part was inspired by akfjjs #dream journal #blahblahbills

Some stuff that happened at work I found entertaining:

- caught two girls watching miraculous ladybug but they begged me not to say the name of the show aloud bc they were too embarrassed and didn’t want others to know they were watching it

- it was an English class, and student asked me “wait I can read, right?” as in, asking if reading was one of their options to do during class, except I didn’t realize that was what he was asking so I responded with, “idk Can you?”

- that same student was reading Michael vey which made me really happy :’) he said he was enjoying it. He finished the fifth book in class and immediately asked to check out the next book. (The series isn’t actually that good but it was my favorite in high school so it’s v dear to me. I’m glad he’s enjoying it, but I also feel bad for him as he approaches the 7th book rip, I didn’t wanna say anything and influence his experience but man it’s. a bad ending lol)

- i joined a group of kids playing a bunch of wordle puzzles (it was towards the end of class shhh)

- watched a student type an email to a teacher after explaining he wanted to make it “as professional as possible” and then proceeded to type “Can you pls raise my grade from…”

overheard a student say, “I hate reading but this book makes me want to read it’s SO good.” And it was a fuckin Colleen Hoover book.

#good for her ig but I hope this passion for reading sticks and she finds better books #student sitting across from her looked so disgusted when she said she liked reading. which made me so sad #same girl who said this also said she doesn’t believe in space???? ok #and then another kid in the same class was trying to recruit people into joining the military #wonderful. #blahblahbills #class notes
