part one - part two - part three - part four - part five
Aaron’s fingers softly stroked your hair as you laid on top of him, your chin set against his bare chest. You both have woken up way too early, and you both decided to just enjoy this peaceful morning. Your eyes scanned his facial features as your finger stroked his cheek softly. Comfortable silence surrounded the both of you. Aaron slightly smiled at you as he leaned down to kiss your forehead. You felt the electricity rush down your body the moment his lips touched your forehead. You carefully closed your eyes, burying your face on his chest.
“It’s been four months.” Aaron murmured.
“Four months?” Your voice was almost a whisper as you pressed a soft kiss on his chest.
You felt him breathe heavily, his hands that were stroking your hair ran down your bare back, caressing it softly. It made you feel sleepy as you smiled softly and enjoyed his gentle warm touch.
“Four months since we saw each other.” He said. “Four months since I realized I love you.”
You couldn’t help but let out a soft approving hum and your cheeks flushed. His gentle touch on your back was slowly letting you fall asleep, but you were trying your best to keep yourself awake and listen to his voice. You moved yourself up and buried your face on his neck, feeling Aaron’s grip around you tightened. He pressed a soft kiss on your hair, making you smile against his skin. You couldn’t believe that it has been four months since you have been doing this. Four months since you risked everything for this.
“Four months since I stopped using my simulation.” Aaron added.
Suddenly, you gazed up at him with furrowed brows. “Simulation?”
Aaron nodded his head, burying his face in your hair and breathed you in. Sliding your hand on his chest, you stopped right above his heart and felt his heart skip a beat. Unfortunately for you, you seem to be the only one around here who didn’t have any powers. The only way for you to be able to feel Aaron’s emotions and energy all the time was when you could feel or hear his heartbeat.
“Before you, I didn’t know how to live. I didn’t know what the point of everything was.” He exhaled sharply, his green eyes finding yours.
“What do you mean?”
Suddenly, you felt your heart race, nervous and terrified at the answer Aaron was about to tell you. You watched as he pulled you close and buried his face on your shoulder.
“Hey,” You pulled away, sitting up on the bed. “What is it?”
You cupped his face between your hands as he tried to avoid your eye contact.
“I didn’t care then.” He murmured. “I would use a simulation machine to kill myself. Shoot myself repeatedly.”
A small gasp escaped your lips. The words that slipped out of his lips got your limbs frozen. You couldn’t believe what he just said and the fact that he did that repeatedly made your heart shatter into pieces. You couldn’t even comprehend it. You couldn’t imagine losing him and the fact that he kept trying to do that to himself— even if it was a simulation— you couldn’t wrap your mind around the idea of it.
“Aaron…” You whispered, tears welling up in your eyes.
“I’m sorry, love.” He wiped your tears that rolled down your cheeks. “I didn’t mean to upset you like that. I just… I wanted to be open to you.”
“No…No.” You shook your head, immediately clinging yourself onto him. “Please don’t apologize. I never wanted you to feel like that again. I love you so much. I don’t want to lose you.”
“You won’t, love.” He whispered, his hand rubbing your back softly. “I’m right here.”
“You’re everything to me.” You whispered.
You felt Aaron slightly smiled as he pulled you in his lap and his fingers stroked your cheek gently. A soft kiss planted on your forehead again.
“No matter what happens, I’ll protect you with my life.” Aaron pressed his forehead on the blade of your shoulder, kissing your skin softly. “That’s a promise, love.”
You turned to face him, taking his face between your hands and kissed him passionately. These last few weeks with Aaron had been heaven ever since you both had admitted your feelings for each other, and you wished you both could finally find some hard evidence to take down The Reestablishment. You wished it was that easy.
Coming back to Omega Point later that day, you were immediately called into Castle’s office. You didn’t know what you would be expecting as soon as you entered. Your parents were nowhere to be found. They were probably busy with other things, you thought. Castle sat behind his desk, his hands intertwined together in front of him, his usual braids tied up into a ponytail, and his brown eyes studying you as you walked towards his desk. You couldn’t help but feel nervous. You wondered if he knew something. You wondered if he caught you sneaking out and that was why you were called in.
“Good morning, Castle.” You gave him a small confident smile.
“How are you, dear?” Castle asked.
“G..Good.” You hated how that came out.
You didn’t know why you were so nervous. If Castle ever found out what you have been doing, you would just simply explain it right? Aaron was on your side. They didn’t have to worry about anything. However, you weren’t too sure if Castle and your parents would believe you about that. Looking around his office, you sort of told yourself that maybe the missing presence of your parents was a good sign. That maybe you weren’t in trouble after all.
“Well, I called you in here today just to check in how you and Kenji are doing with training.”
A sigh of relief quietly escaped from you. Your shoulders finally dropped from the nervous tension.
“Oh, we’re good, sir. I think we’re getting better everyday.”
“That’s good.” Castle got up from his chair and walked around his desk.
He sat against the edge of his desk in front of you, his arms crossed in front of him. Suddenly, you felt your heart start pounding on your chest again as you saw the expression that washed over Castle’s face. A knot started forming in your stomach as you waited for him to say something. The silence between the both of you felt like eternity as you started playing with your fingers nervously.
“Is there anything that you two need?” Castle asked. “Any equipment or more training to be added?”
“N…No.” You swallowed all your emotions. “We’re fine, sir.”
“I haven’t seen you around the base lately, is everything okay?”
Your heart was drumming in your ears, you could barely hear Castle’s voice. You could feel your body stiffened even more. Your thoughts pinwheeling, and your mind asking so many questions if this was a test. You wonder if Castle knew anything, and he was trying to test you if you would tell him the truth. You kept your shoulders straight as you nodded your head.
“Yes,” You tried to keep your voice straight. “Just need some fresh air sometimes. You know… to think.”
“Well, we’re here for you if you need anything, especially your parents. They worry about you sometimes.”
You pursed your lips and looked down at your fingers. “I’m fine, Castle. I can handle myself.”
“I know you can. We know you can.” Castle reassured. “We just want you to be safe. You’re intelligent and frankly, I think you’re pretty good at sneaking out and spying around here.”
Your head snapped back up at Castle, who let out a soft laugh as your eyes widened. Did he mean anything by that? Why did he mention that? Was he trying to tell you something? Or were you just being paranoid?
“What… What do you mean?” You could barely ask him the question.
“I mean I know how you are. You always knew how to spy around here without anyone knowing. I even told your parents we couldn’t keep a secret from you without you finding out soon enough.”
You gave him a faint smile and nodded your head. Castle gave you a warm smile before patting you on the arm softly.
“Just let me know if you ever need anything.”
“Thank you.” You gave him a smile before walking out of his office.
A relief washed over you as you walked down the hall. You knew that conversation could have gone in ten different ways, but you were just glad that it went well. You couldn’t help but ponder over the idea if Castle was giving you a message that he knew something, or he truly just didn’t know what you have been doing these past few months. Either way, it was making you anxious.
“You know your mood these days is so confusing.” You were startled by Kenji, who appeared behind you.
“Jesus.” You froze in your tracks, your hand immediately went above your chest.
“No, it’s Kenji.” He teased as you tilted your head and glared at him.
“Yeah, well, from the way you appear out of nowhere all the time, I might see him sooner than you think.” You said sarcastically as you continued down the long hallway.
The fluorescent lights were so bright, it made you feel like you were in a hospital. You hated the lighting in these halls, and you just wanted to go into your bedroom, close the curtains and stay in your bed. Your anxiety was currently quietly attacking you, and you just wanted to be alone.
“Don’t tell me you’re off to see Warner again.” Kenji said.
You paused in your tracks immediately turning to face him with wide eyes.
“Shh.” You whispered. “Are you trying to get me in trouble around here?”
“With the way you have been seeing him, I’m surprised you still make it alive every morning.” Kenji argued, his eyes widened also.
You let out a deep sigh and said, “Kenji, he’s on our side. Please stop judging him.”
You saw Kenji roll his eyes. “He’s an ass and how do you know that he’s not backstabbing us?”
If Kenji couldn’t even believe you this easily, what would happen if Castle and your parents find out? You knew they were going to do everything in their power to let Aaron stay away from you. That idea made your heart race faster, and your anxiety was getting worse. You needed to shut your mind off, this wasn’t helping you at all.
“I trust him, so please.” You argued, a hint of pleading in your voice.
“I still don’t trust him.” Kenji shook his head.
You exhaled a sharp breath and leaned against the wall, feeling defeated. You wouldn’t be able to convince Kenji anymore and at this point, you didn’t want to try anymore. The only way he would believe Aaron was if they would actually see each other, but you doubt that would help at all too. You heard a small gasp escape from Kenji and saw his eyes widened from the corner of your eye.
“What?” You asked, turning to face him.
“Ohmygod.” He whispered in disbelief. “He… No way…!”
What the fuck was he on about?
You furrowed your brows, confused as to what he was talking about. You watched as Kenji repeatedly shook his head from the realization that just hit him. Then, realization also hit you when you realized what Kenji was talking about. Your eyes widened as you shook your head, your index finger found your lips as you tried to tell him to keep his voice down.
“Kenji!” You whisper-yelled.
“No, he doesn’t!” Kenji argued as if he was reading your mind. “No way… That man… He… He doesn't have emotions!”
“Kenji, I know you two had some bad past before and yeah, I know he tried to shoot you, but he isn’t like that. I swear.”
Kenji’s disbelief washed over him as he walked closer to you. His eyes were wild, and you have never seen him like this before. You knew that he only cared for you, but he just didn’t understand it. He never understood what you and Aaron have. Your heart was beating hard in your chest, you swore it was about to jump off and drop to the ground. You couldn’t find the right words to really argue about this subject anymore because no matter what you said, no one would believe you. No one could see what you see.
“Are you serious, Princess? You actually believe that he is in love with you?” Kenji said it like he was disgusted by the thought of it.
“Yes, I do.” You argued, your voice was surprisingly calm. “I’ve seen it. I feel his love, and I know he won’t betray us. I know that.”
Kenji pinched the bridge of his nose as he continued to shake his head in disbelief. In the beginning, he tried to understand your little hook up but now? He couldn’t believe it, and he couldn’t even believe that you weren’t coming into your senses about this. Kenji tried to process the information that he just received, and he was trying his best to believe what you were telling him but it still sounded ridiculous in his head.
The man was heartless and cold.
“Kenji, I know that it sounds bad but—”
You carefully touched his forearm to calm him down but before you could finish your sentence, everything went dark.
High pitched ringing in your ears was the first thing that you noticed when you gained consciousness, followed by the feeling of pain radiating through your body. You didn’t know where you were. You were sure you were on the ground, but you couldn’t see anything. Your ears were still ringing, and you could smell smoke. Panic washed over you as you tried to move your body, but you couldn’t seem to. Pain kept searing through your whole body as you squeezed your eyes and tried to flutter them open.
“K…Kenji?” You could barely hear your voice, everything was echoing.
You were dazed out and confused and at the same time, adrenaline was running through your veins. You didn’t know how long you were on the ground but when you finally adjusted your vision, you gasped in fear as you saw a thick smoke surrounding you. You tried to turn your head, but everything hurts. You found the wall next to you broken and pieces of it were all over you and all over the floor. You knew a big piece of it was crushing your leg at the moment. Reaching for your forehead, you felt blood, and it made your heart race even faster.
Where was Kenji?
He was just with you, but you couldn’t see anything from all the smoke, and you could hardly breathe.
“Kenji?!” You exclaimed, grunting as you tried to force yourself to get up from the ground.
You gritted your teeth through the pain and cried out as soon as you saw the part of the cement wall was on your leg. Your head was dizzy as you tried to look around and found Kenji’s body just not too far from you. He was unconscious and you tried to pull your leg from under the cement, but it was too heavy. You let out a scream as you breathed heavily.
You have to do something. You couldn’t just stay here. You have to keep your mind aligned.
You reached to try and push the cement wall off your leg, but you were too weak. You were trained for this. You should know how to survive this, so how come you couldn’t think straight right now? How come the adrenaline in your body wasn’t helping you at all? You let out a deep breath before trying to push the cement wall again using all your strength. As you screamed in agony, you pulled your leg from underneath it and laid back down on the ground, breathing heavily.
You coughed up all the smoke that you were currently inhaling as you turned your head towards an unconscious Kenji.
“Kenji!” You called out.
Using all the strength that you have left, you tried crawling towards him, pushing away all the debris that was on your way. As you reached for his hand, you felt two hands grab you by the arm. You couldn’t see who it was with all the smoke that was surrounding you as you tried to pull yourself away from their grip.
“Mom! Dad! Castle!” You yelled out before feeling another pair of hands grab you by your waist.
The smoke was getting worse, and you couldn’t leave Kenji right there. You struggled from the grip that was holding you back, but you were also starting to lose oxygen in your lungs from all the smoke. Your vision was getting blurry as you felt a small pinch on your neck that you swore was a needle that was injected through your skin.
Then, everything went dark.
“Where are we going, mom?” You asked, watching your mom packed your bags.
“Somewhere safe, honey.” Your mom zipped up your bag and turned you around, slipping the backpack on your back before kneeling down and cupped your face.
“Just trust me, okay?” Your mom stared into your eyes. “We’re gonna go somewhere safe. You get to see Kenji again soon.”
You watched as your mom grabbed another duffel bag and packed the rest of your things. Then, you saw Cassandra enter your room with her own bag. She looked a bit scared, but you always found her confidence so admiring. Even if things were hard, she never loses hope nor confidence that everything would be fine.
“Cassandra, mom said we’re going somewhere?” You asked, confused.
Her eyes shifted towards you, and you could see the sad smile that suddenly tugged on her lips.
“Here.” Your mom handed her a second bag before cupping her face in her hands. “Please be safe.”
You furrowed your brows and asked, “Cassandra isn’t coming?”
Both of them turned to you as Cassandra walked towards you, taking your hands in hers. “I’ll come find you, I promise. Just go with mom and dad first. Kenji will be there too. He’s going to take care of you too.”
Tears welled up in your eyes as you shook your head repeatedly. “No. No! I’m coming with you!”
“No, you’re safer with mom and dad.” Cassandra let go of your hands, but you were quick to wrap your arms around her waist, stopping her from her tracks.
“I’m coming with you.” You cried. “We’re sisters. You promised wherever you go, I will be there too.”
Cassandra tears welled up in her eyes as she pulled your arms away from her waist.
“I’ll find you, I promise. For now, you have Kenji. He promised me he’ll be there for you no matter what.” Cassandra whispered.
“No, I don’t want Kenji! I want you to be there!” You cried out.
“I’ll find you, okay? I promise.” She kissed your forehead before finally walking away.
You shook your head, reaching your arms for her, but she was gone. “Cassandra!”
Your mom held you back as you tried to slap her hands away from your body, but she was much stronger than you. Your mom’s arms wrapped around you as you sobbed. You were only 12 then, and Cassandra was 19.
That was the last time you ever saw her.
Everything was quiet.
Peaceful.
Is this what it felt like to die?
No pain.
No worries.
Just peace.
You felt your soul suspended in the air. You didn’t know where you were. Everything was pitch black, but you felt so calm. It was almost like you could feel your fear but you knew there was nothing to be afraid of. The fear that was inside of you felt numbing.
“Hey.” Cassandra sat next to you on the front porch.
The sun was just setting on the horizon. You wrapped your arms around your legs as you wiped the tears that rolled down your cheeks. You have spent the afternoon crying on the front porch after your mom had scolded you for not doing the chores right.
“Just ignore, mom. You know how she is.” Cassandra said, her eyes staring directly at the pink clouds in front of her.
“I’m never gonna be good enough for her.” You whispered. “You know, she loves you more.”
Cassandra shook her head. “No, she doesn’t.”
“Everyone always loves you, Cassandra.” You gazed up at her. “You’re the smart one. The older, responsible one. I don’t know what I’m good at.”
You hung your head low, holding back the tears that were welling up in your eyes. You sniffed and wiped your nose with the back of your hand.
“You’re always better at talking to other people than me.” Cassandra gave you a warm smile. “People always love your charm and wit.”
You scoffed, shaking your head. “But never the smart one.”
Both of you looked over your shoulder when you heard your mom’s voice arguing with your dad. Both of you sighed in unison as you stared back at the pink sunset that was in front of you.
“We’ll go somewhere nice someday.” Cassandra gave you a reassuring smile. “And you’re going to be an artist, and we can buy a nice house on top of a hill with a nice view of the city.”
You smiled at her idea. “Then, you and your girlfriend or wife would be with us too. I’ll have someone too, and he’ll love me in the best possible way.” Your eyes sparkled. “Then, Kenji can come visit too. He’s my best friend. He’s always welcome in our home.”
Cassandra laughed softly, pulling you into her arms. “Wherever I go, I’ll take you with me.”
“Promise?”
“Yes.” Cassandra smiled.
A sudden wave of pain washed over you. Your leg, your head and every bone of your body.
The pain was excruciating.
Fluttering your eyes open, you were greeted by a bright light. Everything around you was a blur. You adjusted your vision, blinking your eyes repeatedly. As soon as your vision cleared up, you were first greeted by a tiny window above the wall across from you, light coming through it. You were still a little dazed out as you reached to touch your forehead. You let out a small groan, feeling the cut that was there but was now bandaged up. You grunted softly, pushing yourself up from the uncomfortable bed that you were laying on and saw your leg was all bandaged up too.
Thank god, it wasn’t broken. You could still move it.
Your eyes studied the four walls that surrounded you. A toilet and a sink was sitting across the room and a metal door with a small opening in the middle. It was one of those doors where you could find in a prison where they could insert food in the small opening. You groaned in pain as you tried to push yourself off the bed. Your eyes studied the small room. The cement walls were dirty and full of scratches. It was like a wild animal was in here before.
You walked towards the metal door and yanked the handle with all your strength but it was no use. Of course, it was locked up.
“Help!” You screamed, banging your fist on the metal door. “Get me out of here!”
“Hey!” A soldier from the other side used the end of his gun to bang on the door. “Stand down!”
“Get me the fuck out of here!” You screamed, banging your fist repeatedly and harder on the door.
You saw your knuckles started bleeding, but you didn’t care. You wanted to get out. You needed to get out. What happened to Kenji? Your parents? Castle? Sara and Sonya? Brendan and Winston? The rest of the Omega Point?
Ohmygod, Omega Point.
The realization was just now hitting you. Omega Point was destroyed, and you couldn’t help but wonder if it was because of you. Did you get caught?
Aaron.
You were supposed to meet him tonight. Did Aaron know about this? Was Kenji right? Was he playing double agent and used you the last several months? Your heart was racing as you slid your back against the metal door and fell on the floor. You pulled your knees closed to your chest.
This was your fault.
What if all this time Kenji was right? What if Aaron had played you all this time? The thought of it made your heart shatter in pieces. You didn’t know what to believe anymore. You didn’t know where you were, and you didn’t know if the others were even alive. You remembered Kenji on the ground unconscious. The guilt was slowly eating you up as tears welled up in your eyes.
“I’m so sorry.” You whispered quietly to yourself. “This is all my fault.”
You couldn't imagine everyone being dead. You kept telling yourself that they were okay. That they were still alive, but you honestly didn’t know if you should believe that. Panic shot through your body as you moved yourself back to the bed.
It was all your fault.
All your fault.
The words repeated in your mind as you breathed heavily, tears streaming down your face. You were weak. You always thought with your heart and not with your mind. Your mom always told you that. Curling on your side, you clutched your hand above your heart and closed your eyes.
“Hey, are you okay?” Kenji sat at the edge of your bed.
Your eyes were bloodshot red because you have been crying ever since you have arrived at Omega Point. It was the first time you saw Kenji since you and your parents moved to the base.
“I miss Cassandra.” You whispered, wiping your tears. “Why did she leave like that?”
Kenji shrugged, moving himself next to you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“I don’t know.” He said. “She said she had to do what she had to do.”
“It’s not fair.” You murmured. “I thought we’re in this together no matter what.”
Kenji softly rubbed your arm as you clung onto him, burying your face on his shoulder.
“Please don’t leave me too.” You sobbed.
“I’m not going anywhere, Princess.” Kenji smiled. “I’m always next to you, no matter what. I’ll take care of you, while Cassandra is away.”
Time was frozen inside your prison room. You didn’t know what time it was and how long you had been in this room. You only knew if it was daytime or nighttime through the small window above you. You had pushed your bed against the wall and stood on top of it to see what was on the outside through the small window, but it was unfamiliar. All you could see were fences and soldiers guarding outside.
It was raining again.
You had slept for hours after breaking down again earlier, but you didn’t know how long you had been sleeping. You woke up and saw someone delivered some food through the small opening of the metal door. You were trained for this. You didn’t know if you should trust the food that you were given, but the aroma of it was making you hungry even more. You sat on your uncomfortable bed, knees closed to your chest, arms wrapped around them and stared at your food on the floor.
It was just a piece of bread and a soup, but you couldn’t bring yourself to eat it. You didn’t know what they had put in there. Sliding yourself from your bed, you walked towards the sink and turned on the faucet to hydrate yourself. Water was the only thing that kept you going, but you knew you had to feed yourself somehow. Turning around, you studied the room, trying to see if you could find a weak spot for you to be able to dig your way out and escape.
You sighed. You couldn’t focus right because your body was feeling weak and the more you were trying to avoid the food that was sitting on the floor, the more the thought of it kept itching your brain. You laid on your bed and stared at the ceiling. You tried to focus your attention somewhere else but being trapped inside this room was making you crazy. You needed to figure something out to get out of there. You needed to find the others. You hoped that they were still alive, but you weren’t too sure about that anymore.
Shifting your eyes towards the food, you slowly got up from your bed and grabbed the piece of bread that was sitting on the plate. You smelled it for a moment and your fingers played with the crust before tearing it apart. You slowly held it up in front of your lips before finally eating a small piece of it. You felt your stomach thanked you for finally feeding it as you tore apart the bread again and ate the rest of it. Then, you grabbed the bowl of soup and ate the rest of it too.
Leaning your back against the wall, you took a deep breath and closed your eyes. You felt fine. Maybe the food wasn’t poisoned at all. You moved yourself back on your bed and buried your face on the palm of your hands. You didn’t know what to do. You couldn’t understand anything or whatever was happening. You didn’t know if Aaron was still to be trusted. You didn’t know if Kenji or your parents or the others were still alive.
You just wanted to scream. You felt so weak. Tears rolled down your cheeks as you sobbed in your hands. The guilt was killing you slowly, and it would be all your fault if everyone was dead. It was your fault for making such a reckless decision.
How could you let your heart lead you like this? You weren’t thinking at all.
You should have listened to Kenji in the first place.
Then, your attention was caught when the door swung open and three soldiers entered your room.
“What are you doing?” You gazed up, tears staining your cheeks as you moved back.
“Stand down!” One of the soldiers yelled, grabbing you by the forearm.
“No, wait! Let me go!” You struggled in his grip as another soldier grabbed your other arm.
The third soldier wrapped his hand around your jaw, tilting your head as you tried to struggle in their grip.
“Let me go—!”
Just like that, a needle was inserted in your neck and darkness took over you.

Thank you so much!🌹 @cookieswithforksandknifes and @ant-thebooknerd for tagging me.
Get-into-it questions
If I was at a concert: I would definitely like to be a singer. I have always dreamed of having my own concert where I can sing my heart out 💕 (Don't worry, my voice is not bad!)
Biggest pet peeve : I always start clicking a ballpoint pen whenever I sit to study. I can't seem to stop myself 😭 ( my mum is very annoyed by this )
Biggest insecurity about yourself: My body and looks. I am a glasses girl so...you know, it's kind of embarrassing wearing them among my friends who can see very well. And also, my body is very curvy so that's a big insecurity ( I am sorry if I annoyed someone 😶 )
What's your favourite quality about yourself? : I love making people happy. I love the smiles and laughs so much that I am unable to bear silence and the grumpy faces🌟
Any pets ( current or previous ):
I have fishes!!! Lots of them!!! Almost 30 in total. 10 are Goldfish, 5 are Clownfish, 10 Angelfish and 5 sharks.
Also, there is a starfish ⭐ and a turtle 🐢 ( I love all of them so much 💞)
Favourite season: I like rainy season. 🌧️ The smell and touch of raindrops feels fascinating 😍
Job you want to have: I have never thought about a serious job but I really want to own a bookstore in the future with hundreds and thousands of books all around me 📚 The thought seems very thrilling!!!
Favourite thing you own: I have a collection of handmade bookmarks which I adore the most. Plus, the Shatter Me book set. ( I almost killed my brother since he touched it with dirty hands 🔪 )
If you could buy one thing in this entire world ( price or size doesn't matter ) what would you buy? :
I would love to buy the companies Rockstar Games and Electronic Arts. It would be a dream come true!!!

Still Love You Anyway

Author's Note: This was requested by @readergf, so thank you for that! I miss writing Joe, so here's a little something something :)

Getting home on a Friday afternoon was such a relief for you. You were exhausted for the week, and you were ready to curl up with your nice warm blanket and just watch TV all weekend long. You just hoped Joe also felt the same because you honestly didn’t want to do anything or go anywhere else. The thought of you being in his arms as you exited the tube was the only thing that kept you going. Walking down the street, you watched as the sun set on the horizon, reflecting between the tall skyscrapers. You took a deep breath and pulled out your keys as soon as you arrived at the flat.
The flat was quiet, and you figured maybe Joe wasn’t home yet. Kicking off your shoes, you sighed in relief and flopped yourself on the sofa for a minute and closed your eyes. Then, a buzzing sound and a quiet clatter from down the hall made your eyes fly open.
“Joe?” You called out.
No answer.
Getting up from the sofa, you made your way down the hall and turned the doorknob of the bathroom door, only to find it locked.
“Joe, are you in here?” You asked.
“Oh, you’re home!” Joe exclaimed through the other side. “I didn’t think you would be home early.”
You furrowed your brows, wondering what was going on inside there.
“Yeah, I was tired, so I decided to leave a little early.” You replied. “What’s going on? Are you okay?”
It was unusual.
Since when did you both lock the bathroom door? You were comfortable enough in this relationship where you both don’t lock doors anymore. The sound of buzzing started again, and your eyes widened when you realized what it was.
“Joe, what are you doing?” A hint of panic in your voice.
“Almost done, darling.” Joe answered.
After a minute, the buzzing stopped, and the doorknob was unlocked. A loud gasp immediately escaped from you as soon as Joe had swung the bathroom door open. You stood there with wide eyes, your jaw dropped on the floor, and your feet glued to the ground. You couldn’t move or say anything, while Joe gave you an amused smile.
“I’m guessing you don’t like it?” Joe’s smile suddenly fades when you haven’t said a word for the last minute or so.
“No.” You cleared your throat when you heard your voice croaking. “I—”
You clamped a hand over your mouth and slowly walked towards him.
His head was buzzed.
Buzzed!
The crime scene of his perfectly brown curls were scattered all over the bathroom floor. Not that he had his hair long for a while now but still!
The crime!
“Wh…Why?” You asked, blinking repeatedly, and hoping this was just a dream.
“It’s for Warfare, darling.” He shrugged. “It’s for a role. It’ll grow back.”
You watched as he ran his hand on his now buzzed head, and you couldn’t help but mourn over his beautiful brown curls. Not that he didn’t look good. Joe always looked good no matter what his hair was, but the curls!
Oh, how much you would miss running your fingers through them.
Slowly, you reached your hand above his head, and Joe couldn’t help but chuckle. He watched as your shaky hand slowly grazed over his new haircut, and you bit your lower lip trying your best not to make a reaction. You noticed his features were more prominent with this new look of his. His chocolate button eyes looked bigger—beautiful. His cheekbones were more sharp.
“It’s okay.” Joe laughed softly, bending down to clean all the pieces of his hair on the floor. “You can tell me the truth.”
“Not that I don’t like it.” You murmured. “It’s just that… I’m going to miss running my fingers through those curls.”
Throwing the pieces of his hair in the bin, Joe walked towards you and wrapped his arms around your waist, leaning in to give you a soft kiss on the lips.
“It’ll grow back pretty quickly.” Joe reassured you. “And you could tug on my hair as much as you want.”
You chuckled softly, running your hand over his buzzed head again.
“Hm…” You studied him for a moment.
Joe laughed softly, pressing another kiss on your lips. You let out a soft hum as you pulled him closer to your body. You deepened the kiss and let your hands immediately reach up to where his hair was only to be met by his buzzed head.
No hair to tug. No curls to run your fingers through.
This was torture for you.
“This is so unfair.” You groaned softly, pulling away from the kiss.
Joe laughed again, shaking his head as you gave him a small pout. He reeled you in his arms and walked you back to the living room, his soft hands softly caressing your arms.
“How was your day?” He asked.
You flopped yourself on the sofa and said, “Long. Rough. I was ready to just go home. I didn’t expect my boyfriend to be buzz cutting his hair the moment I did.”
Joe let out a laugh as he buried his face on your neck, breathing you in. You could feel the sharp edges of his hair on the line of your jaw tickle you softly. You couldn’t help but laugh and wrapped your arms around him.
“It tickles.” You said.
Joe smiled through your skin and softly rubbed his head against your jawline, making you laugh.
“Okay, okay. Now, you’re like a cat with sharp fur.” You teased, your hand finding his head again. “Although, I’m getting used to this.”
Joe laid his head on your lap as you smiled down at him, softly caressing the sharp edges of his newly hair.
“Be honest, does it look bad?” Joe asked.
“No,” You chuckled softly. “It’s new for me, but you are still beautiful.”
Leaning down, you planted a soft kiss on his lips, making Joe smile through the kiss.
“Still love me?” He asked, his chocolate button eyes soft and deep.
“Always.” You smiled. “No matter what your hair is, I will still love you anyway.”
Sitting up on the sofa, Joe smiled and pulled you in his arms, a soft kiss planted on your hair. You sort of found it funny that he asked you that question. Although the look was new to you, he was still your Joe.
Always.  The End.

part one - part two - part three - part four - part five - part six - part seven - part eight - part nine - part ten
The soft breeze blew through your hair as you watched the city of London slowly come alive in front of you. You pulled your jacket closer to your chest as you watched the sunrise reflected through the windows of the tall buildings in front of you. Cars and buses filling the roads and people walking down the streets to their jobs or whatever their destination was. The sound of Elena whispering to herself as she played with her toys in the living room made you smile as you looked over your shoulder and watched her.
You hoped one day this little girl would grow up and keep the happiness that lit inside her. You hoped that she was able to face whatever fears she had inside of her, and she was able to find love that she deserved. If it was up to you, you would wish she never grows up because this world could be cruel, and it slowly breaks you.
Your eyes then darted towards Abby and Sara, who were cooking breakfast in the kitchen. Watching Abby feeding Sara with a piece of waffle and then kissing each other on the lips like they were just in their own little world, you couldn’t help but smile. You knew that no matter what, Elena had great parents that would be by her side through everything. You couldn’t help but wish that you had the same thing growing up, but you couldn’t dwell too much on the past now. You couldn’t blame your parents anymore. You could change your own perspective and life. You could change it and make it with whatever you wanted it to be.
You didn’t know what time you had sneaked out of your flat earlier this morning, but it definitely was too early. It was still dark outside, and the streets were empty and quiet except for the early morning people who decided to wake up and go for a jog.
You have been walking. You didn’t know how long, but you had been walking and thinking. Thinking about what happened last night. Thinking about Joe and those three little words that he had told you. Thinking about his lips on your skin and how it electrified your veins with every kiss he left on your body. How it made you die and brought you back to life at the same time. You thought about how you wanted him, and you loved him but you were too terrified to admit it yourself.
You just needed some space. You needed some time to think. You weren’t running away this time. You just need to think, so eventually, you found yourself at Sara and Abby’s by the time it was 7am. You didn’t even ride the tube. You walked so much that you had found yourself on the other side of the city, and you didn’t even realize until you were standing on their front steps.
“I’m sorry.” You apologized to them again.
At this point, you wouldn’t be surprised if Sara and Abby kicked you out of their home for disturbing them so much. They already were too busy with Elena and here you were like a little lost puppy and dumping your problems on them.
“Hey,” Sara smiled. “I was just about to make breakfast before Abby leaves for work. Come in.”
Sara opened the front door wider to let you in. Elena, for some reason, was wide awake early in the morning. Sara mentioned how she had been waking up early because she wanted to say goodbye to Abby every morning before work. You couldn’t help but think how cute it was. They truly were such a cute family.
Now, here you were standing on their balcony, trying to figure out all the emotions that were running inside you. You were trying to scold yourself to stop being so afraid and finally just let all of these fears go.
“Hey, wanna join us for breakfast?” Sara came up behind you with a cup of tea.
“Yeah, thank you.” You smiled as she handed you the cup of tea, and you followed her into the dining room.
“I’m sorry for barging in again. I just… I need to think.”
“There’s nothing to think about, my sweet.” Abby chimed in as she sat on the dining table with you and Sara.
She was in her white shirt, jeans and cardigan. It fit her whole artist vibe, and you couldn’t help but notice how her and Sara were glowing even more lately ever since Elena has entered their life.
“You love him.” Abby said sternly. “Please stop dismissing it. Let yourself be happy.”
You bit your lower lip as you took a sip of your tea. Your eyes shifted at Sara, who was slicing through her waffles with a playful smile on her face.
“What’s so funny?” You asked.
“You reek of sex.” Sara murmured, taking a bite of her waffle.
Your eyes widened the moment you felt the tea burned through your nose as you choked and coughed, wiping your mouth with the back of your hand. You just wanted the floor to eat you up at this point.
“Babe!” Abby laughed, shaking her head.
“Look at her!” Sara pointed her fork at you as her eyes widened at Abby. “They had sex and now, she is denying the fact that she’s actually in love with Joe. This isn’t just pretending anymore. She has been in love with him for a while now, and she thought hooking up with him would make those feelings go away but no—”
“Okay, I think I get it.” You sighed, slumping back down on your chair.
“Do you?” Sara raised her brow.
You sat quietly in your chair, your head hung low as you thought about Sara’s question. You knew she was right, but it was the acceptance of your feelings that you couldn’t bear to accept in your mind. Your heart was screaming for it. Screaming to love Joe. Screaming to stop being so terrified because you were already here. You already had shown him your feelings last night, so what the fuck was your problem?
“What are you so afraid of? Joe loves you.” Abby added.
“I know.” You sighed. “I do too.”
It was the first time you admitted it out loud. Suddenly, the fear had subsided and all you could think about was Joe. His smile, his chocolate button eyes, his voice, his lips on your skin.
It was everything.
He was everything.
“Then, go get him.” Sara had a wicked smile on her face as you chuckled softly.
“I’m sorry for being such a pain lately and just barging in here.” You sighed. “I know you two got your hands busy with Elena too and—”
“My sweet, there’s no need to apologize.” Abby cut you off. “You’re always welcome here and besides, we know how hard it is for you to sometimes accept your feelings, especially with what you have gone through before. It’s understandable.”
“Exactly.” Sara smiled, reaching for your hand across the table. “You’re our family too, and you’re always welcome here. We just want you to be happy too because you deserve it.”
“And if that’s with Joe then, you shouldn’t stop yourself from being happy and loved by him.” Abby added.
“Thank you.” You both gave them a smile, squeezing Sara’s hand softly. “And you know, I’m always one call away if you both need anything.”
Sara and Abby smiled, nodding their heads.
The thought of seeing Joe as you sat on the tube later that day had let out a jar of butterflies in your stomach. You didn’t exactly know how to start or what to say to him the moment you would enter the flat. You kept telling yourself that you would just wing it. That whatever the situation was, you definitely needed to apologize for running out again. For being so confused and terrified about all of this.
You sighed and ran your fingers through your hair as you stepped out of the tube and made your way back to your flat. You wondered if Joe was home. You wondered what he would say the moment you entered the flat. You wondered if you fucked everything up, and he didn’t want to talk to you anymore.
You couldn’t blame him if that was his decision.
Unlocking the front door with a shaky hand, you immediately heard a quiet clattering coming from the kitchen.
Joe was home.
Kicking your shoes off your feet, you quietly made your way to the kitchen and stood by the doorway. Joe’s back was turned to you as he cooked pasta on the stove. You leaned against the doorway and watched him for a moment, playing with your fingers nervously.
“Came to get the rest of your things?” Joe asked, his voice was cold and his back was still turned to you.
So, he was upset.
You expected that. Who wouldn’t be upset with someone who ran out the next morning after you had told them that you love them?
“N..N…No.” You replied.
Oh, you hated how that came out of your mouth.
You were stuttering, and you could barely find your voice at the moment. You slowly walked around the kitchen island and stood next to Joe. Your hands were literally trembling, and you immediately shoved them in your coat pocket to hide them from him. Joe’s eyes were still laser focused on the pasta sauce that he was cooking on the stove, and you could tell that he didn’t want to look at you at all.
Again, you couldn’t blame him.
It was your fault.
“I’m sorry.” You apologized.
There was silence for a moment between the both of you, your eyes never leaving him as you waited for what he was going to say. Though, when he didn’t say anything, you took a deep breath and took another step forward.
“I’m sorry that I ran out again.” You said. “I’m sorry that I keep lying about my feelings for you.”
Joe sighed, turned off the stove and turned to you. The moment his chocolate button eyes caught yours, you couldn’t help but notice how much it really affected him. It was a different kind of look that you have never seen before. Not even when Ivy broke up with him. It was almost as if he looked like he lost someone so special to him.
“I understand as to why you couldn’t accept your feelings because I know you struggle with that, but I just wished you would talk to me.” Joe shook his head.
“I know. I’m sorry. I was scared, and I needed to think and I didn’t know what to do because I saw Ivy the other night leaving our flat and—”
“Wait,” Joe cut you off. “You saw her?”
“Yeah, I bumped into her in the hall when I was coming home.” You shrugged, your head hung low. “I… I know something happened between us after that, but I can’t help but think about how it makes me feel like you choose me because she doesn’t want you or whatever it’s going on with you guys…”
“Nothing is going on with us.” Joe replied, taking a step closer to you. “Nothing happened that night. She came and begged to take me back, but I told her that it has been over with us for a long time.”
You gazed up and stared at him with your big wet brown eyes. You didn’t know what to say. You didn’t want to doubt Joe either because he told you he loved you and hearing him confirming about him and Ivy, it made your heart swell. In a good way.
Joe exhaled a sharp breath. “I let her stay for the night because she was a mess. I didn’t want her to go home like that, especially knowing that I was the reason why she was crying.”
You nodded your head in understanding. Then, Joe gently took your trembling hands from your coat pockets and held your hands in his.
“So… it is over?” You asked.
“It has been over a long time ago.” Joe replied.
You stared at both of your hands and bit your lower lip. Joe could see that you were struggling to accept all of this, but he could also see that you knew it was the truth. You could see it in his eyes. You have always known that. His eyes always spoke the truth.
“I meant what I said.” Joe murmured. “And I’m sorry for making you feel like shit. I’m sorry for making you think that you’re just a second choice and for pretending that I wanted Ivy. Most of all, I’m sorry that I kept this agreement going even when I knew that you were the one that I wanted. Even when I knew that I loved you and couldn’t tell you.”
Your heart suddenly couldn’t fit in your chest. It was beating a thousand miles per hour, and you couldn’t breathe. You tried to stabilize your breathing as Joe caressed your trembling hands with his thumbs.
“I’m sorry I kept running away from this. You were right that night, you know?” You said. “I was scared to let someone in. Someone who cares about me.”
Joe cupped your face with his hands and caressed your cheek with his thumb. Your knees felt weak, and you moved closer until both of your faces were just inches from each other. Joe grazed his nose softly against yours, making you grin happily.
“I love you.” Joe muttered.
“I love you too.” You finally said before finally pressing your lips against his.
Joe wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you close as he kissed you deeply. He kissed you as if he had been waiting for this moment for a long time. You smiled through the kiss and finally let all your fears and insecurities go. You let Joe take them away and locked them up in a box and threw them away in the ocean.
You finally let go and told yourself that you deserved this. You deserved to love someone and have them love you back.
“So, does that mean you’re not leaving?” Joe teased you as soon as he pulled away.
“Hm… no.”
You both laughed in unison as you wrapped your arms around his neck. Joe gave you a soft happy smile as he leaned in again and kissed you. In surprise, you let out a squeal as he picked you up and carried you down the hall towards his bedroom.
“No.” You said, holding onto the doorframe as Joe paused in his tracks. “My room.”
Joe raised his brow at you, surprised that you had suggested that idea. He never had stepped inside your bedroom because he knew your boundaries but fuck boundaries, right? You wanted to let him inside your life. Inside your private mind where you kept your private thoughts and insecurities. You wanted him to know you. To know every corner of your mind.
“Are you sure?” Joe asked.
“Absolutely.”
Joe couldn’t help but smile as he walked towards your bedroom. His eyes immediately wandered around the four walls, curious of your private space that he has never seen before. Gently setting you down on your bed, he towered over you as you let out a soft giggle.
“I love your room.” He whispered, his lips finding your neck.
A soft gasp escaped your lips as you ran your fingers through his curly hair.
“It’s yours now too.” You whispered as Joe stared down at you.
For a moment, he studied you as you reached your hand up to brush his cheek softly. He was yours and you were his. You love Joe and he loves you. That was all that mattered right now. You didn’t want to worry about anything else. This was you accepting that this was real.
No more pretending.
No more acting.
No more fake relationships.
This was all real.
Joe was real and so were the two of you together.
Leaning down, Joe kissed you softly as he pulled the duvet over the both of you, your soft laughters echoed the room.
The End.

part one - part two - part three - part four - part five - part six - part seven - part eight - part nine - part ten
Joe knew what he wanted for a long time now.
He knew ever since the first night that you two had done this agreement. He knew when you walked out of your room, wearing that mini black dress of yours that made him want to just cancel this ridiculous agreement and focus on moving on instead. Joe knew when he had kissed you for the first time.
Those soft lips that touched his. Those big brown eyes that seemed to always made him forget that there was a world around him that probably thought how much he was in awe of you. The way your lips would curl into a smile, and your laughter that sounded like music in his ears. The way the noise of the pub that night had faded when you had stood between his legs and leaned down to kiss him.
It made him forget about himself for a moment.
It made him forget the world.
It was just you and him.
It made him forget about the idea that you were kissing him to make Ivy jealous. You kissed him that night and ever since then, it was embedded into his veins. Embedded into his brain.
Then, you had worn that silver silk dress and the whole night, Joe was asking the Universe if this was his punishment for bringing you into this mad idea of his. His eyes were on you the whole time, and you stood there and talked to his friends like you didn’t have the care in the world. Joe, on the other hand, was kicking himself completely for being such an idiot. For thinking that someone like you would fall for someone like him.
Someone who was indecisive and couldn’t even organize his life well.
Meeting your parents was a different thing. That was when Joe had realized there was so much in you that you kept hidden from the world for a long time. The anxiety and nervousness that electrified your bones that night was something he never saw in you before. Right before you both arrived at your parents’ house, Joe just wanted to hold you and tell you that everything was going to be okay. That he was there next to you no matter what happened. However, Joe knew the boundaries that you have drawn between yourself and other people.
In fact, Joe barely had seen you ever hug Sara or Abby whenever they came over to the flat. There was always that distance that you have put up. Always an arm’s length even with your closest friends. When your mother had kept shooting her words towards you that night, Joe quickly realized as to why you had put up that boundary between everyone.
You felt like you were never enough.
He saw it in your eyes when your mother kept bringing you down with her commentaries. Your eyes grew dimmed, and you suddenly had fallen inside a dark pit inside your brain. Almost like you found a room inside your mind and hid yourself in there and locked the door until you had disappeared from your body. Your eyes stared into an empty nothingness in front of you, and Joe couldn’t help but slid his hand with yours under the table.
Blinking a few times, he saw how you slowly came back to your body. As if his touch had sent a signal into your brain and to come out from that dark room. He felt you squeezed his hand gently as he defended you in front of your mother.
It was almost like a silent thank you.
For Joe, he would defend you to anyone who would say negative things about you because how could they say something like that about you?
Finding you in your room alone that night, Joe saw the melancholy in your eyes, and he just wanted to take you up in his arms and tell you that you were better than them. That you were so much more than whatever your mind was telling you at that moment. Joe wanted to tell you how much the thought of you was slowly occupying his mind every night. How much of your presence just immediately jumps starts his heart. Joe wanted to tell you that your eyes sparkled, and your smile sent electricity in every bone of his body.
He had fallen.
Hard.
He couldn’t bear to see you like this. Joe saw the way you had pushed down your emotions inside of you. He saw the embarrassment and frustration that washed over you when your mum and dad had started yelling downstairs. He knew that he wasn’t just going to sit there and make you feel as if this was your fault because it wasn’t.
And when he had held you in his arms, he wanted to just freeze the world around the both of you. He wanted that moment to last because it was the first time he had held you without having to pretend. Without having to do a little acting around strangers. If you would ask Joe, he wanted to stop this agreement already because that was the night that he had realized that the one person he had been falling for was the one in his arms. Not Ivy nor anyone else.
It was you.
But that night wasn’t about him. It was about every scar that you hid under your skin from people. It was about how much you had to endure your mother’s words that made bullet wounds in your heart. It was about how much your parents had picked and pulled you apart your whole life, and you were left there until there was nothing left inside of you.
Joe knew that, and he wanted to tell you how strong and magnificent you were. How none of those things that your mother had described you was true.
But how come he couldn’t? How come he was being such a coward?
Was there a part of him that made him feel as if he couldn't face you because he was embarrassed over the fact that he was so obsessed with Ivy that he didn’t realize the one person he had been falling hard for was his flatmate?
That he couldn't seem to end the agreement because he was scared he wasn’t going to see much of you anymore if this all ended? That maybe, you didn’t feel that way about him?
Everyday, he avoided seeing you. He was barely home. Always crashing at his friends’ house just so he could avoid these feelings that were eating him up because why the fuck did he made up this plan? Why the hell was he still acting like he wanted Ivy back? In all honesty, Joe hasn’t even paid attention to her. She had called him a few times, but he was ignoring it.
“Oh, c’mon, Joe…” Ivy slid her hands up on his chest. “Kiss me.”
It was one of those nights where you both had gone to the pub because Ivy and her friends were celebrating something. Joe had excused himself, and you didn’t say anything.
You weren’t bothered over the fact that he was going outside the alley with Ivy. You sat by the bar and nodded your head as you drank your martini. So, he made another ridiculous decision and kept acting like he still wanted Ivy.
Sneaking out with her into the dark alley behind the pubs wasn’t really the best idea. Alcohol was running through his veins, his mind kept telling him that you didn’t feel that way about him, and his emotions were controlling him. He would find himself making out with Ivy to get rid of the unrequited feelings.
He was insane.
You were right about that. He didn’t understand how much he could care for someone until you entered his life. Sure, he was infatuated with Ivy, but this feeling was different when he was around you.
He forgets about himself. He forgets about the world that was around him.
With Ivy, he always wanted to prove to her friends and the world that he was deserving to be with her but with you… He just gets lost in you. He was able to be just… Joe.
It was true that he was obsessed with Ivy during his relationship with her, but it wasn’t Ivy that he was obsessed with. It was the idea of her that he had written in his mind. The idea of having someone that was out of his league. He was looking for something greater, and he thought he could find that in Ivy. He thought that was what he wanted, so he played her games.
He played until both of them lost.
However, after the night of the film festival, it seemed like Joe had lost again. The news of you moving out of the flat got his mind reeling again. He didn’t want to let you go without him telling you how he felt. He knew it was a risk, but he had to tell you. You deserved to know what he felt about you and when he had kissed you, he thought you felt the same way about him. Until you decided to run off that night.
He couldn’t help but scold himself mentally for making you so uncomfortable.
For making you run away.
For losing you all at once.
“Ivy.” Joe opened the front door of the flat that night.
He found Ivy standing in front of him, her eyes sparkling and an excited smile plastered on her face as she threw himself into his embrace.
Joe stood frozen. He was paralyzed as Ivy gripped her arms around his torso and buried her face on his chest.
“What are you doing here?” Joe asked, voice sounded ice cold.
Slowly, Ivy slipped her arms away from his body and her smile faded as she gazed up at him. Joe could see the disappointment in her eyes as she walked past him and entered the flat. Sighing, Joe closed the door behind him before turning to face Ivy, who had her arms crossed in front of her chest.
“Why are you acting like you haven’t spent weeks trying to get my attention?” Ivy asked, her voice sounded like she was insulted.
“I…” Joe shook his head. “I wasn’t trying to get your attention. At least not for a long time now.”
Ivy let out a scoff. Her eyes studied the flat, and Joe could see that she was trying to look for a sign of you. If only Joe knew where you were too. He wanted to talk to you and apologize for making you uncomfortable by kissing you.
“What do you want, Ivy?” Joe asked.
“You.” Ivy immediately replied, her eyes finding his. “C’mon, Joe. Really? Your flatmate? Her? We both knew you only were using her to get my attention, and you won. You got my attention.”
Ivy slid her hands up on Joe’s chest, but he was quick to grip her wrists gently and pulled her hands away from him. Ivy knitted her brows together as she stared at Joe. He could tell that she was trying to understand what was going on between him and her.
“It’s over, Ivy.” Joe murmured. “You said it yourself, remember? This isn’t working out.”
“But I thought…” Ivy shook her head, panicked that she was misunderstanding everything.
“Well, you thought wrong.” Joe answered. “So, please. Can you leave?”
Joe opened the front door for her, but she was repeatedly shaking her head as tears welled up in her eyes. Joe exhaled a sharp breath. He knew what she was doing, and he didn’t want to cause any scene, especially that it was Ivy. She liked the drama, and she loved the center of attention. He didn’t need his neighbors complaining about her causing a scene in the middle of the night.
“No, don’t.” Joe shook his head, closing the door. “Ivy, stop.”
“Joe, I love you.” Ivy blurted out the words, a tear rolling down her cheek.
Oh, fuck.
This wasn’t what he wanted to hear from her at all. He took a step forward towards her as she quietly cried in front of him.
“Ivy…” Joe murmured. “Please.”
Ivy walked closer to Joe and wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him into an embrace. Joe, however, stood there. His limbs felt paralyzed, he couldn’t move, while Ivy sobbed on his chest. Joe didn’t know if this was just her pretending, so he’ll take her back or she was actually crying because she had lost him. Either way, he wasn’t falling for any of it. He was so tired of her games.
“Ivy.” He said sternly, taking her arms off his torso. “This is what you wanted, remember? You were right. This thing between us hasn’t been working out so, please. It’s over.”
“No,” Ivy shook her head. “No, no. I was wrong. I was. I love you, Joe. There’s no one else I want but you.”
Joe watched as Ivy literally crumbled in front of his eyes, and he stood there unable to move his body. He didn’t know what to do. He felt bad for Ivy because in some time, he did care about her. He didn’t want to hurt her like this, but he was also unable to trust her after playing her games all the time. He was over that. He didn’t want that anymore.
“I’m sorry.” Joe murmured, shaking his head.
Ivy wiped her tears with the back of her hand and nodded her head. He saw that she was slowly realizing that she couldn’t do anything about this anymore. Joe exhaled a sharp breath, walking towards her and embraced her in his arms. He felt her body tremble as she sobbed the moment he held her in his arms. Even if Joe didn’t feel that way about her anymore, he still had a history with her. So, when he saw that she seemed a little too unstable to go home, he offered her to stay over for the night until she was okay. He didn’t want her going home like this, especially after the fact that he was the reason why she was sobbing in his arms uncontrollably.
“Bye Joe.” That was the last thing Ivy said to him the next morning.
The front door closed, and Joe was left alone in his own thoughts again. Thoughts about where you have been all night. You didn’t come home at all, and he wondered where you were and if you were okay. Knowing you, he knew that maybe you were with Sara and Abby, but he just hoped that you were okay.
When you had entered that morning still wearing the same dress you had worn at the event, high heels in your hands and red rimmed eyes, he knew you had been crying too.
He couldn’t help but scold himself for hurting you and Ivy.
“Hey,” Joe was just fixing the sofa that Ivy had slept in. “Can we talk?”
Your eyes looked exhausted, and he knew you had been crying. He knew it was because of him, and he wished he could just take you up in his arms at this moment and apologized for being such an ass because what the fuck was wrong with him? He should have ended this agreement long ago but because of his fears, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. He wasn’t ready to just lose you like that.
However, he had already lost you, right?
The moment you had told him that you were moving out now, he knew you were serious about this. He knew that it was because of the stupid shit he had put you through. Although, Joe couldn’t let you go without at least letting you know how he felt. Without letting you know that he loved you.
You were pushing him away. You were pushing your feelings away because he knew you didn’t want to get hurt anymore. He knew that you didn’t want to suffer the same fate as your parents’ marriage, but he didn’t want to give you that. He wanted to make you happy. He wanted to give you all the love in the world. This was something he never felt about anyone before. This was something he was willing to do anything for so he could hold you in his arms because the thought of losing you was ripping his heart out in pieces.
“I love you.” Joe murmured, and he saw the emotions that suddenly washed over you.
Joe cupped your face in his hands, his chocolate button eyes looking for yours. His thumb softly tracing your lips. Every trembling bone of his body just wanted to kiss you. He wanted to hold you, and he wanted to put a smile on your face. He wanted to split himself open and let you in. He wanted to know all the dark corners of your mind and replace them with light.
“I love you so much.” Joe whispered. “It consumes every bone of my body every day and knowing that I couldn’t hold you in my arms, it kills me.”
And then that was it.
Something had snapped inside of you, and Joe saw it in your eyes. You gave him that permission that you were finally letting go, and you were accepting and believing him. Joe didn’t hesitate to kiss you and held you in his arms, and he was flying. Every part of him was desperate for you, and pulling you close in his arms wasn’t enough.
He needed you closer.
He kissed you like he had been waiting for this moment to happen. Like he had been waiting for his whole life to hold you in his arms, and you were finally here.
If Joe could capture every moment he had with you that night, he would. He would revisit them every time and replay them in his mind because that was everything to him. Feeling your heated body pressed against his and the small moans that would escape your lips made him insane.
“I’m terrified, Joe.” You uttered those words to him.
He knew what was going on in your mind. He knew all the scenarios that were slowly creeping up in your brain, but he wanted to take all of those away. He wanted to make sure that he wasn’t going to break your trust. He wanted to make sure that you could feel his love for you because the way he felt about you didn't have enough words to ever describe it.
As your bodies merged together, Joe touched you so delicately. He touched you and kissed every inch of you, wanting to memorize it. He wanted to kiss away all the pain, kiss away all your fears.
He was so in love with you.
And his heart was about to explode in happiness as he held you in his arms. His thoughts were gone and time had stopped. All he could focus on was you being in his arms. Your head laying on his chest, his fingers softly brushing your hair, and your eyes fluttering close. Your chest heaving as you tried to catch your breath, and your soft skin against his.
He didn’t think he could feel this much pressure in chest.
He didn’t think that you being in his bed, in his arms could make him lose oxygen in his lungs and at the same time, it was making him feel so alive.
So, when morning came, he also didn’t think he could feel this much hurt in his chest.
Fluttering his eyes open, Joe felt the bed next to him empty. Joe felt the cold air and your presence gone. At the beginning, he thought maybe you had gone to the bathroom but after a few minutes, acceptance had washed over him.
You were gone, and he didn’t know what he did for you to run away like that again.
Was last night didn’t mean as much to you as it did to him?
Was that all?

High Infidelity
Joseph Quinn x Fem!Reader
Summary: Did you really have to chart the constellations in his eyes? Did you really have to tell him how he brought you back to life?
Author's Note: Babe by Taylor Swift, High Infidelity by Taylor Swift, Illicit Affairs by Taylor Swift, My Tears Ricochet by Taylor Swift, Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift. I don't know... I don't know... I don't know. My mind is all over the place the past week and needed to write this down for some distraction. I don't know... I never done a back to back series nor have written something like this, so yeah. Forgive me for all the trigger warnings. Everything is all so crazy. This is a very very hard thing to write because of past emotional abuse experiences in real life that still terrorizes me and maybe it's a letter for the past experience to let it go.
Disclaimer: 18+, emotional abuse, mention of harming, infidelity
(Please, please don't read this if it triggers you. I need you all to think hard about it before reading this one. This is a bit of a dark fic).

part one - part two - part three - part four - epilogue
“Late again?”
Your boyfriend, Eli, asked you the moment you entered the flat. You were kicking off your shoes by the front door, eyes full of exhaustion as you sighed. He was by the kitchen heating up some leftovers. You didn’t exactly understand how it was “late” because technically it was only 9pm.
“Yeah, the event went pretty late.” You replied.
You technically left the event early knowing that Eli would start asking where you were. That was how he was these days. Keeping count of everything you did.
You were technically not an official assistant in the team. You just started this job, and it was more of a paid internship that you applied to because you needed the money, and it paid really well. You worked for Joseph Quinn’s team. A British actor who got pushed into the limelight too fast after his appearance in Stranger Things.
Joe was nice. His team was nice and very organized and all you had to do was bring Joe’s things, get coffee, and help his team organize whatever they needed for Joe.
That was all.
Nothing too complicated.
Nothing for you to really complain about nor do something that could ruin this whole internship that you applied for.
Well, at least that was what you thought.
“That’s a nice dress.” Eli stepped out of the kitchen, his eyes studying you as he ate a piece of chicken.
For some reason, his eyes studying you like that made you feel angry and annoyed. It wasn’t like he was doing anything to you, but the tone of his voice was making you feel annoyed.
“Thanks. I’ll go freshen up.” You gave him a small smile, giving him a quick peck on the lips before heading down the hall.
“I’m sure many men were staring at you tonight.” Eli added his little comment that made you stop halfway from your steps and looked over your shoulder.
“I was just doing my job, assisting.” You reassured him before continuing down the hall and into your bedroom.
You weren’t going to lie. Your relationship with Eli for the past two years has been rough. He was constantly jealous, constantly making rude comments about what you wear and how you wore your makeup to the point where you had stopped putting makeup on. You had changed your whole closet to just jeans, t-shirt or jumpers. You changed your whole style and personality because you didn’t want any trouble from Eli. You didn’t want to disappoint him.
However, this new job of yours came with the responsibility of dressing up and wearing makeup when you accompany Joe through the many events or movie premieres. That made Eli squirm even more for the last four months whenever you came home wearing a nice dress and nice makeup. He would comment how the dress was too short or the dress was too revealing.
“I wore a jacket, don’t worry.” You would tell him.
“Next time, pick one that isn’t so revealing.” Eli would scoff. “You’re mine. You don’t need other men looking at you.”
You could feel the love in your relationship was slowly fading, and you didn’t know how to get out of it. You were too scared to do something about it. Terrified even what he could react or say towards this decision of yours if you ever decided to cut this off. Eli had been very aggressive towards his words to you and sometimes, even if he wouldn’t say something, you could see the disappointment all over his face. You were a people pleaser, and you were the kind of person who didn’t want any trouble, so you tried to give what he wanted most of the time.
It made you hide inside yourself even more. It made you feel insecure. It made you terrified of every decision you made because you didn’t want to upset him. You didn’t want to see that reaction on his face even if his lips were saying something else. It made you feel like you were walking on broken glass every time.
Sliding yourself under the covers next to Eli that night, you saw his eyes studying you the moment you entered the room and brushed your hair in front of your vanity. His eyes never left you until you laid next to him. He immediately moved himself close to you and pulled you in his arms, hugging you from behind.
“So, how many more events do you have to go to?” He asked.
You sighed, closing your eyes. Eli was never interested in your job. You knew he was asking about it, so he knew what he was expecting. By that, it meant he would be monitoring the outfits that you would wear and the people that would be around you in that event.
“Not sure.” You murmured. “I’ll let you know once my supervisor lets me know.”
Eli lets out a soft hum and kisses you on your cheek before turning you to face him and kisses you roughly on the lips, towering over you. For a second, you went with it and kissed him back, pushing your body against his and letting him have what he wanted. He lets his soft fingers slide the strap of your tank top, kissing your bare shoulder. His lips found the skin of your neck as he softly sucked onto the skin, a small gasp escaping your lips.
“Babe.” You whispered, slowly pulling away. “I’m tired. I’m early tomorrow.”
Eli sighed, letting himself laid back down on the bed next to you.
“You’re always tired.” He argued. “The last time we had sex was last week.”
“I’m sorry, I’m just tired today, and I have to get up early tomorrow.” You turned your back on him, closing your eyes.
“Right.” Eli said sarcastically, getting up from the bed.
You looked over your shoulder, sitting up on the bed as he made his way towards the door.
“No, c’mon. Don’t be so upset.” You said.
You could see it all over his eyes that was getting upset, and you knew if you didn’t do something about this, he wouldn’t talk to you for the next two days. He would make up an excuse that he was busy and that he would be with his friends.
“Come here.” You reached your hand out to him as he paused in his tracks and stared at your hand.
He gave you a small smile and walked towards the side of your bed, taking your hand in his as he kissed you hungrily and towered over you on the bed. You let him touch you in all the ways he wanted to, but you just felt numb. You couldn’t breathe as you stared into the white ceiling and kissed him back softly, letting his fingers brush against your burning skin. You felt disassociated as he kissed you hungrily and pushed himself inside of you.
You felt nothing but disgusted with yourself for being so weak.
That was how you have been feeling lately with your relationship. You felt trapped and you felt like a chain has been around your neck lately, and Eli was pulling it every chance he got.
“Hey, could you go to the coffee shop down the block to get everyone coffee?” Alex, Joe’s manager, asked, interrupting your thoughts the next day.
“Uh…sure.” Alex handed you a piece of paper with everyone’s orders.
Your job was always simple but as time went on, your interaction with certain people became more frequent. In the beginning, Joe couldn’t even look at you nor acknowledge you that much unless he was thanking you for bringing him the things he needed. Then, Alex and his team had gotten busier that the things in your list were starting to add up. Part of your job has been added to “make sure Joe is in this place at a certain time,” or “make sure Joe wears this suit instead of this.”
Then, there was the chore that Alex would give you to make sure that his collar, tie or buttons on his shirt was perfect before he stepped out of the red carpet.
“Do you enjoy your job?” Joe had asked you that one time when you had sat on the sofa of his dressing room, waiting for the rest of his team to arrive.
“Sure.” Your voice almost sounded so monotone that Joe couldn’t even believe your answer.
He sat there and tilted his head at you, one brow raised and waited for your real answer. You let out a deep breath, closing the magazine that you were reading and set it back on the table.
“I guess it’s okay. Couldn’t complain.” You shrugged.
Joe let out a soft understanding hum and focused his attention back to his phone, scrolling his time away. He was getting ready for his movie premiere, and you were there to make sure that everything he needed was there. That he looked perfect right before he stepped out of the red carpet.
Not that you hated your job but sometimes, it could get so repetitive that you looked bored after the events. The rest of Joe’s team would go and prepare whatever they needed to, and you would just make sure Joe was fine. That he didn’t need anything.
“Here.” Joe handed you a glass of martini at the after party of the premiere.
“No, thanks. I’m technically still working.”
“And looked bored.” Joe’s face was a little too close to yours as he whispered those words.
You hesitated, your eyes scanning the room trying to look for a sign of Alex. Joe couldn’t help but chuckle, shaking his head.
“They went home. So, technically you’re the only one left here.” Joe answered the question that you were asking in your head. “C’mon. You deserve it for working so hard all the time.”
Pursing your lips, you stared at the glass that Joe was holding before finally taking it from his hand and taking a sip of it. Joe smiled and took a sip of his own drink, his eyes scanning the room before falling back to you.
“Are you usually this quiet?” Joe asked.
“I’m just doing my job.” You answered, a small smile creeping up on Joe’s face. “I don’t want to interrupt anyone.”
“You’re not interrupting me.” Joe smiled, taking another sip of his drink.
You could tell he already had a few drinks before this conversation. You continued to drink the glass of martini in your hand and didn’t reply a word to what Joe said. You could tell the alcohol was making him a little bolder, and he was trying to flirt. You didn’t want to step into any boundaries because first of all, it was inappropriate, and you didn’t want to lose this job either.
“So, how long have you been here in London?” Joe asked.
“About two years.” Your answers were plain and simple as Joe continued to play 20 questions with you.
By the end of the night, you both seemed to open up to each other a little bit more, and you were able to learn Joe more personally. The thing was that you didn’t realize that night was going to be a start of something new between you and him because ever since that event, Joe’s attention was on you most of the time. He would gaze down at you and give you small smiles, while you would fix his collar or tie before he stepped out onto the red carpet.
Then, during after parties, you would be left to babysit Joe, and you would notice how his eyes would catch your eyes across the room. You sat in the corner and minded your own business, your focus on your phone. However, Joe would walk towards you and catch your attention.
“Wanna dance?” Joe held out his hand.
You bit your lower lip and said, “I don’t dance, sorry.”
Joe sighed and sat next to you, his eyes lingering on the screen of your work phone.
“Whatever Alex is telling you to do can wait ‘til tomorrow.”
“That’s easy for you to say. You don’t have a full to-do list.”
Joe laughed softly, raising his brow at you. “A full to-do list? I’m the one who has to stand in front of those cameras and do the interviews, remember?”
Joe had a point.
Though, you couldn’t help but roll your eyes. “True.”
You and Joe would talk for the rest of the night. You both would laugh and tease each other. You both would start talking about personal things, and he somehow was able to understand you well. It made your heart swell a little bit.
It wasn’t right that you felt this way towards Joe because you were in a relationship. You could just easily let Joe know that you weren’t single and that whatever flirty tricks he was trying to do to you, it wouldn’t work. However, you kept dancing around that subject. You didn’t bother bringing that subject up and towards the end of the night, you both would start flirting a little bit more. Besides the fact that you were in a relationship, you also didn’t want to do anything unprofessional or inappropriate because at the end of the night, you were technically still working for Joe’s team and Joe. So, you tried your best not to lead him on.
That was until you had come home one night and found Eli waiting for you in the living room. You arrived home half an hour past nine, and he already looked upset the moment you had stepped inside the flat.
“Where have you been?” Eli’s tone of voice wasn’t what you liked at all.
“I’m sorry, I had to finish some things. I texted you I was going to be late.” You explained.
“No, you didn’t.” Eli argued.
“Yes, I did. Didn’t you get my message?” You knitted your brows, making sure your voice was calm because you didn’t want to upset him even more.
You watched Eli pick up his phone from the coffee table and looked down at it and let out a deep breath.
“You know, maybe you should look for another job if they keep making you stay up this late.”
You slid your coat off and hung it on the coat hanger and said, “It’s only 9:30. It’s not that late, Eli.”
You heard Eli scoff and shook his head. “So, you'd rather be with them than with me?”
You were confused.
Where did that subject came from?
You didn’t understand why Eli was acting like this. Shouldn’t he be more supportive about your career? Didn’t you tell him that you needed this job because you needed the money? What else did you have to say or do to make sure he would stop this jealousy thing because it was making you so exhausted.
“I… I didn’t say that.” You murmured.
“Maybe you just don’t love me the way I love you. Just tell me, and it’s fine. I’ll happily go.” Eli shrugged, looking down at the floor.
You walked towards him, taking his hands in yours. The guilt inside of you brewed in your stomach but at the same time, you wanted to vomit.
“I do love you. I told you that, remember? I love you.”
You felt nothing.
“Then, find another job… for me.” Eli looked into your eyes.
“I… I can’t. It’s hard to look for another job out there and this pays me well, while I’m able to learn the entertainment industry. You know how much I want a career in that industry.”
Eli’s eyes suddenly turned glum again. He slid his hands away from yours and exhaled sharply.
“Why would you even want to be in that industry? So you could be naked and show everyone that?”
You couldn’t understand what he was saying. You couldn't understand why he was acting like this.
“You know that’s not true!” You argued.
You were exhausted from explaining yourself over and over again, and he just didn’t believe you. You felt like whatever you did was never enough for him. Tears started welling up in your eyes as you watched Eli grab his car keys.
“Wh…Where are you going?” Your voice stuttered, terrified of what he might do.
“Obviously, you don’t love me. I mean… no one loves me, so what’s the point, right?”
You grabbed his hand, trying to take the keys away, but he had his hand in a fist as he tried to slide his hand away from your grip.
“No, stop! Please.” You begged, tears rolling down your cheeks. “Don’t do this.”
“If you love me, you’d do this for me.” Eli replied, his eyes hardened as he stared at you.
You didn’t say a word because what he was asking of you was impossible. You already had lost yourself and your dignity. Your job at the moment was the only thing that you have that could maybe help you get back up again. After a few seconds of not replying, Eli pulled his wrist away from your grip, shaking his head.
“If you find me dead on the road then that’s on you.” He stated before walking out the front door.
“Eli!” You cried out, running out the door, but it was too late as he had already gotten in the car and drove off.
Going back inside the flat, you laid on your bed that night, sobbing and questioning as to how you have gotten yourself into this situation. Questioning every decision you made as to why you were too weak to break this off.
What if you break this thing off, and Eli would actually harm himself? It would be all your fault like he said. What if no one could love you after this? What about the happy memories that the two of you had at the beginning? What if you would regret it at the end for letting him go? You knew you were the only one that he had left in his life. You couldn’t do that to him either. You couldn’t easily just get out.
You were trapped.
Stuck.
Frozen.
Around midnight, Eli had come back home. You weren’t asleep when he had entered the bedroom, but you had your eyes closed. How could you sleep after tonight? How were you able to have a peace of mind if he was out there? How would you know that he didn’t do anything to himself? It would be all your fault if something happened to him.
You just couldn’t shut your mouth and agreed with what he was asking, couldn’t you?
Feeling his arms wrapped around your torso, you felt him nuzzling your hair. You didn’t move. You couldn’t move. You knew he wasn’t going to apologize, so you didn’t try to hope for that. Eventually, he had fallen asleep, holding you that night. A tear rolled down your cheek as you covered your mouth with the palm of your hand to block out your sobs, so he wouldn’t wake up.
At this point, you didn’t know who you were anymore.
You just felt numb and lost, choking in your own tears.

hey darling, how are you? You asked to leave requests in your inbox, so I'm doing that, even though I think this request is stupid
Well, would I like to ask for something where the reader and Kenji have a strange friendship? compliments and curses, maybe they are always fighting with each other but just for fun, but other people don't know, so one time Aaron sees kenji offending the reader and threatens kenji? and another scenario is where the reader is crying and Aaron hugs her and consoles her
Thanks!!

The night sky was clear tonight. The stars twinkled in the sky and the cold night breeze greeted you and Kenji as you both walked out of the restaurant. You both were having your usual Friday night dinner. It has become a tradition for the both of you. It was something that you two found therapeutic because you could talk about anything with each other. Not that Aaron and Nazeera didn’t understand you both, it was just that you both tend to match each other’s energy.
“You’re such a bitch!” Kenji laughed, pushing you lightly by your arm.
“I’m the bitch?” Your eyes widened, a fake gasp escaping your lips. “Weren’t you just scared of the little horror movie we watched earlier?”
“Yeah, that’s why you’re such a bitch for teasing me about it.” Kenji rolled his eyes.
You couldn’t help but laugh, the sound echoing through the dark empty streets. You knew if anyone would hear the little mean nicknames that you two gave each other, people would probably think of something else. Though, this was a normal conversation between you and Kenji. You both knew you cared and loved each other and was just comfortable enough to be playfully mean.
“I don’t know how Nazeera deals with your scaredy ass.” You added.
“Hey! Don’t bring my girl into this.” Kenji’s voice got defensive. “I’ll have you know, Nazeera loves me for me.”
You couldn’t help but snort at the sentence that he just told you. Kenji dropped his jaw as if he was hurt by your reaction and paused in his tracks, his eyes widened and brows raised.
“I’m sure Warner got his hands full.” Kenji joked as you playfully pushed him towards the wall.
“Asshole.” You muttered under your breath as he laughed.
“Yeah?” Kenji picked you up, threw you over his shoulder and spun you around as you let out a shriek.
“Kenji! Put me down!” You exclaimed as Kenji laughed.
You kicked your feet up in the air as you reached your hand to slap his ass, making him let out a small squeal. You laughed at his reaction as you kept kicking your feet and wiggling your body to start sliding off from his grip. He finally set you back down as the both of you started playfully air punching each other. Kenji wrapped his arm around your neck as you laughed and tried to kick him on the leg.
“C’mon, Princess. Show me your strength.” Kenji chuckled, his arm not letting go of you. “I thought Warner has been training you at the gym, hm?”
You started slapping Kenji on the stomach, coughing out air as you gave him a signal that you actually couldn’t breathe.
“Kenj—” You breathed heavily as he finally let go of you.
“Oh, shit! Are you okay?” His eyes widened, eyes full of worry.
You laughed and nudged him on the stomach. “Ha! Gotcha!”
Kenji stood there with his mouth open, stunned at the little prank that you just did to him. His hands started reaching for you, while you slowly took a step back, shaking your head.
“Uh uh.” You said. “No.”
“Come here.” Kenji’s voice was soft, his hand still reaching for you. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
“Yeah, that’s a trustworthy sentence.” You laughed, your feet still backing up from him.
Then, Kenji started running towards you. A loud shriek escaped from you as you turned and started running away from him. Your laughter echoed the empty streets as Kenji kept calling out your name.
“You’re such a cheater, Princess!” He exclaimed.
Stopping at the corner of the sidewalk, you panted and set your palm on your knees, hunching down as you tried to catch your breath. Finally catching up to you, Kenji set his hands on his hips, throwing his head back as he also tried to catch his breath.
“Damn, Princess. Warner really has been training you at the gym. You’re fast.”
You laughed, gazing up at him before finally straightening your body. “Yeah, well, you gotta catch up with your training too.”
Kenji wrapped an arm around your shoulders as the both of you continued walking down the street. The rest of the walk home was calm. You both had stopped teasing each other and finally had some normal conversation without one of you being sarcastic. As you arrived at your front door, you saw Aaron immediately walk out of the front porch and waited for you as you said goodbye to Kenji.
“We should go bowling next time or something.” Kenji suggested, his eyes shifted at Aaron behind you from a distance. “Bring Mr. Asshole over there.”
You furrowed your brows, lightly slapping him on the arm. “Don’t be like that. You don’t see me calling Nazeera names.”
“That’s because Nazeera is perfect.” Kenji argued.
“Yeah, whatever.” You rolled your eyes. “Bring Ms. Perfect too then and we could compete.”
“Deal.” Kenji smiled, pulling you into an embrace. “Goodnight, Princess.”
“Goodnight, idiot.” You chuckled and waved goodbye to your best friend.
Excitedly walking towards your boyfriend, Aaron immediately smiled at you and took you in his arms, pulling you inside the house.
“Hi, love.” He kissed you softly. “How was your night?”
“Good.” You smiled.
Aaron closed the door behind him before pulling you into his arms again, nuzzling your neck and a soft hum escaped his lips. He trailed kisses down your neck as you smiled and ran your fingers through his golden hair.
“Missed you.” He murmured through your skin as breathed in your scent.
“I missed you too.” You smiled, cupping his face and lifting it up to stare at him.
His dimples slowly appeared on his cheeks as he grinned at you. Leaning down, he kissed you softly and scooped you up in his arms, carrying you down the hall towards the bedroom. You wrapped your arms around his neck, setting your head on his shoulder before your lips started trailing down his neck. You felt Aaron’s gripped under your thighs tightened, a whine caught in his throat.
“Love, you make me crazy, you know that?” He whispered as he set you back down.
“Hmm…” You smiled, cupping his face. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
Aaron smiled, leaning down to kiss you. He quickly parted from the kiss and walked towards the bathroom. You furrowed your brows as you heard the water start running. You already knew what he was planning as he walked back into the room.
“Aaron—!” You squealed as he laughed softly, scooping you up in his arms.
You kicked your legs in the air as Aaron chuckled softly, setting you down as soon as you both entered the bathroom. Aaron pressed his body against yours as he tugged on your sweater.
“My beautiful love.” He whispered.
“I love you.” You murmured, kissing him softly.
He pulled your sweater over your head and leaned down to kiss your collarbone. You could never get tired of him. Every time you felt his kisses and touch on your body, it always brought you back to life. It was like electricity that made you feel so alive.
“Aaron.” You gasped.
Your hands clutched on his shirt as you pulled him even more close to you. He pinned you against the wall, his hands sliding down under your thighs. He holsted you up, your legs wrapping around his waist.
“God, you’re so beautiful.” Aaron whispered, biting your bottom lip softly.
A soft moan escaped from your lips as he led you towards the bathtub. As you both took each other’s clothes off, Aaron helped you settle inside the bathtub. The soap was foaming on the water as Aaron leaned back against the tub, pulling you close to his chest. You leaned your back against him and closed your eyes, feeling the peace that was blanketing around you. His hands softly stroked your hair and his lips pressed feather like kisses on your bare shoulder.
“You spend too much time with Kishimoto, love.” He murmured.
You couldn’t help but chuckle softly and looked over your shoulder to stare at him. You raised your brow at him and gave him a playful smile.
“Don’t be jealous.” You said. “Kenji is my best friend.”
“I’m not jealous.” Aaron retorted. “I don’t know how Nazeera handles him, honestly. I feel bad for her.”
You let out a laugh as you laid your head on his shoulder. Aaron leaned his cheek against your head, giving you a soft kiss on your forehead. If you could stay like this with him forever, you would.
“Actually,” You said, lifting your head and gazing up at him. “Kenji and I were thinking that we should go bowling. Me, him, you, and Nazeera.”
Aaron’s eyes went dim as he gazed down at you, brows raised at the idea you suggested. You could see the disapproval look on his face that immediately washed over him. It wasn’t that Aaron hated bowling. It was the fact that he had to spend time with Kenji, and you could see that idea spinning in his mind at the moment. You always wanted those two men to get along but for some reason, they just couldn’t seem to no matter what you did. You didn’t understand because you and Nazeera were getting along just fine.
“Please?” You pouted, knowing that he wouldn’t be able to resist.
Aaron threw his head back and said, “Fine. I know I’ll beat Kishimoto in bowling anyway.”
“Hm…” You nuzzled your face on his neck. “You’d look hot bowling, honestly. I’ll enjoy my night so much.”
Aaron smiled, setting his index finger under your chin and lifted your head to kiss you softly. This time, his kiss was so soft and gentle. Something like he wanted to study and enjoy this time with you. You love Aaron so much, and you know he has a hard time making friends. Even when he grew up knowing Nazeera and her brother, he felt like they were never that close. Nazeera would argue otherwise. She had told you that they always played together as kids whenever her parents would come over or when Aaron was dragged by his parents to Nazeera’s house. Aaron never thought they were friends because they only knew each other through their parents doing business together. Besides, Aaron never liked talking about his childhood.
It was dark.
Never happy.
He liked to push that thought away, especially when the subject of his father came up. Ever since you started dating Aaron, he never got along with Kenji. He always was irritated by him, and he never understood how the two of you got along. Overtime, he just started accepting your friendship with Kenji. Tolerate it, most of the time. Although you knew that deep inside, Aaron didn’t dislike Kenji like that. He saw Kenji’s intelligence and cared for you. Aaron, at least, was grateful for that.
So, when the weekend came, you found yourself with Aaron at the bowling alley. You both waited for Kenji and Nazeera to arrive as you rented yourself a pair of bowling shoes.
“Love, no.” Aaron shook his head, giving the boy from behind the counter the shoes back.
He took out two pairs of bowling shoes from his bag and gave you one that was just about your size. You held the pair of shoes, stunned as you stared at him.
“Of course, you would.”
You heard Nazeera’s voice as she walked towards the both of you. Kenji was walking right behind her, and she looked like she wasn’t even remotely surprised that Aaron brought his own pair of bowling shoes.
“Do you know they don’t disinfect that properly?” Aaron argued, taking out two more shoes.
Nazeera rolled her eyes at Aaron as she pulled you into a hug. “How are you?”
“I’m good. How are you? I’ve missed you.”
“I know. Things have just been busy.” Nazeera smiled.
“I hope your brother isn’t still annoying you.” Aaron interrupted.
Immediately, Nazeera’s attention turned to him as you let them have their own conversation. Kenji walked towards you and nudged you on the side. His eyes shifted towards the pair of bowling shoes that you were holding.
“Your boyfriend is insane.” Kenji said.
“I heard that.” Aaron turned to face the both of you as he threw the shoes at Kenji. “You’re welcome.”
“I think I can handle renting my own shoes.” He handed the bowling shoes back to Aaron.
You and Nazeera immediately gave each other a look. They only just arrived at the place, and they were arguing already. You just hoped no bowling balls would be flying across the room later on, especially that both of them could be so competitive.
“Suit yourself, Kishimoto. Enjoy the germs.” Aaron shoved the shoes back inside his bag, but you reached for his hand.
“Kenji, stop.” You said, taking the shoes from Aaron’s hands. “Just take the shoes.”
“Fine, Princess.” Kenji rolled his eyes, taking the shoes from you.
You smiled at your best friend as Aaron handed Nazeera a pair also. Sitting on the bench, you started untying your sneakers and froze when you saw Aaron knelt down in front of you.
“Here, love.”
He gently took your hand and took the bowling shoes from you. He slid your sneakers from your feet and replaced them with the bowling shoes. You couldn’t help but stare at him in awe. He was so sweet. You felt the blood rush to your cheeks as he held out his hand and helped you up. Nazeera told the boy from behind the counter that you all were doing three games as Aaron went to pay for it.
“You’re so spoiled.” Kenji whispered to you, bumping his arm with yours as you all walked towards one of the bowling lanes.
“You’re so spoiled.” You mocked him, pushing him by the arm. “You should be spoiling Nazeera. Instead, she spoils you.”
Kenji mocked you by mouthing the words you just told him as you pushed him away from you, laughing.
“You’re so annoying and such an ass.” You told Kenji.
Nazeera and Aaron already started picking out their bowling balls and setting up the game, while you and Kenji kept teasing each other and pushing each other like two little kids in the park.
“I will beat you and Warner.” Kenji held up his index and middle finger and repeatedly pointed at his eyes and you, gesturing that he was watching every move you would be making.
“We’ll see about that. My boyfriend is pretty trained in these things.”
Kenji huffed out a loud “Ha!” as he shook his head and said, “This is not the gym.”
“Kishimoto!” Aaron called out. “Are you gonna be all talk or you will actually play?”
Kenji gave Aaron a death glare as you chuckled softly and Aaron pulled you in his lap. You watched as Kenji stared at the different bowling balls in front of him and picked one of them up and then set them down once he realized it was too heavy for him. Then, he picked another one up and set it down again. You couldn’t help but giggled softly as Aaron buried his face on your shoulder, shaking his head.
“We’re gonna be here all night.” Aaron murmured through the fabric of your sweater.
You laughed softly, leaning your back against him as you patted his cheek softly.
“I’m here.” You smiled, looking over your shoulder. “I can be your distraction then.”
Aaron let out a soft hum before leaning in to give you a quick kiss on the lips.
“Hey! No, no.” Kenji pointed his index finger at the both of you. “Don’t be doing that shit in front of me.”
You heard as Nazeera sighed behind him, shaking her head. “Just play already!”
Kenji turned to give Nazeera a look before finally picking up a ball and throwing it on the lane in front of him. Immediately, you heard Aaron chuckled and buried his face on your shoulder again. His shoulders were shaking from the laughter that he was trying to hold in. The bowling ball that Kenji threw immediately went towards the gutter and didn’t hit any pins. You clamped a hand over your mouth to stop yourself from laughing.
“That’s not fair!” Kenji turned to the both of you. “I was distracted!”
Nazeera shook her head and rolled her eyes as Kenji picked up the ball again and this time it hit two pins from the corner before going into the gutter completely. You turned your body to bury your face on Aaron’s neck as he pursed his lips and held you close.
“I see you, Princess!” Kenji called out. “Stop laughing at me. It’s just the first round.”
Lifting your face from Aaron’s neck, it was all flushed as you nodded your head at him and held in your smile. Nazeera was next and she immediately hit a perfect strike, making Kenji’s jaw drop on the floor.
“How—” Kenji stared at his girlfriend in awe as she gave him a proud smile.
You got up from Aaron’s lap and sat on the sofa as you watched him pick up the bowling ball. You could already see Kenji rolling his eyes from the corner of your eye. He made a perfect strike as Kenji threw his head back and groaned softly. You couldn’t help but grin widely at your boyfriend as he walked towards you and leaned down to give you a kiss.
“You got this, love.” He whispered before squeezing your waist softly.
Picking up the bowling ball, you threw it towards the lane and hit about half of the pins. You heard Nazeera cheered behind you and when you turned to look at Aaron, he had a proud grin on his face. You threw the bowling ball again and you got a spare.
“Yes!” You fist pumped the air as you skipped towards Aaron.
“Exactly what I thought.” Aaron murmured, kissing your hair softly and pulled you into his lap again.
As Kenji took his turn, he was able to finally hit a good spare, but he was still struggling throughout the night. Nazeera started ordering drinks from the bar and the alcohol was starting to hit Kenji hard. Nazeera had to literally calm him down because he was starting to get so competitive, especially with Aaron.
“Kenji, it’s okay.” You said as he flopped down on the sofa. “We have one more game and you’ll be able to practice more.”
“I don’t need practice.” He said.
You could tell his pride was starting to go up as Nazeera chuckled softly, squeezing his hand in hers. Aaron gave you a small secret smile as he walked back to you after taking his turn. He just hit another strike, and Kenji wasn’t having it. You got up from where you were sitting and took your turn, hitting a strike.
“Princess, I know you’re cheating.” Kenji teased.
You laughed and walked towards him. “I’m not cheating.”
Kenji had a playful smile on his face as he clapped his hands and got up from his seat. Unfortunately for him, you and Aaron won this round. Nazeera, on the other hand, was just peacefully sitting and would whisper little jokes to you about how she bet Kenji would cry later tonight if he didn’t win this round.
“Okay, one more game.” Kenji called as he set up the names on the screen again.
Nazeera got up from her seat and ordered herself another drink, while you heard Aaron let out a deep sigh, burying his face on your neck. You smiled and watched Kenji’s determined expression as he looked over his shoulder and saw the smirk on your face.
“Just watch, Princess.” He said.
You raised your brows and nodded your head as if you were agreeing with whatever crazy idea he was having in his mind. After Nazeera came back with some drinks, you leaned back on your seat and watched as Kenji took his turn. This time, his determination was truly starting to pay off because he started getting better throughout the third game. It got to the point where he and Aaron started competing with each other.
“If we leave, I’m sure they won’t even notice.” Nazeera whispered to you.
“Honestly, I’m starting to suggest the same thing that maybe you and I should just leave any minute.” You whispered back as you and Nazeera laughed
Towards the end of the game, both Kenji and Aaron were tied and for some reason, your score was a lot higher than the both of them. Nazeera was just tired to the point where she didn’t care anymore. The alcohol that was running in Kenji’s blood was making him more competitive. You have been teasing him all night, and he kept rolling his eyes, which amused Aaron and Nazeera.
“Princess, I swear, I don’t know how you’re so good at cheating.” Kenji picked up the ball.
“I’m not cheating. Don’t be a sore loser, Kenji.” You joked.
“Watch.” Kenji threw the ball and immediately hit a strike as he threw his fists in the air. “Ah! See!”
You shook your head and at this point, Nazeera was just sliding in her seat in embarrassment as she drank the rest of her alcohol. Aaron had wrapped his arm around your shoulder and yawned softly. All of you were getting a bit tired, and Kenji was the only one who still had some energy in him. After throwing the ball for the second round, Kenji hit another strike, which made his score higher and beat everyone in the game.
“Oh good.” Aaron got up from his seat. “We can finally go home.”
You clapped your hands, laughing as you walked towards him. You lightly punched Kenji on the arm as he wrapped an arm around your neck and pulled you against him.
“Who are you calling a bitch now, huh?” Kenji said. “Not me.”
“Alright, alright.” You shrugged, slipping his arm away from you. “I mean… you still kinda are.”
“Hey, fuck you.” Kenji pointed his index finger at you as you rolled your eyes and chuckled.
“What did you just say to her?” Aaron suddenly appeared behind you.
You looked over your shoulder and saw the anger that was washing over Aaron. His eyes were giving Kenji a death glare
“Aaron, it’s fine.” You reassured him as you held onto his forearm.
“No, it’s not, love.” He gazed down at you before looking back at Kenji. “Don’t talk to her like that!”
Aaron took a step forward as you tried to stop him. “Aaron, no. It’s fine.”
“Hey, man.” Kenji held up his hands in the air. “We were just kidding.”
You could see the fear in Kenji’s eyes as Nazeera joined the three of you. She intertwined her fingers with his as she looked at Aaron with big eyes.
“Aaron, calm down.” Nazeera said. “He was just kidding.”
“It doesn’t matter if he was kidding,” Aaron looked at Nazeera before looking back at Kenji with his wild emerald eyes. “You don’t talk to her like that!”
You saw how Aaron really took this seriously as you set a palm on his chest. He was breathing heavily as you squeezed his forearm.
“Aaron, look at me.” You said, trying to calm him down but it was no use.
“I will rip your head off your body if you talk to her like that again.”
You looked over your shoulder and glanced at Nazeera, who was also holding Kenji back.
“Nazeera, get him out of here for a minute. I’ll see you outside.” You stated.
Just like that, Nazeera took Kenji’s hand and tugged on it. For a moment, Kenji was still staring at Aaron before he finally squeezed Nazeera’s hand and walked out with her. You let out a sigh as Aaron let go of you from his arms. You watched as he sat back down and shook his head. You could see the anger inside him slowly fading away as soon as Kenji was out of sight.
You stood in front of Aaron as he gazed up at you, his green eyes looked tired and crestfallen as he saw you staring at him. He got up from his seat and cupped your face in his hands.
“I’m sorry.” He murmured. “I’m sorry for making a scene.”
“It’s okay.” You slid your hands and gripped his wrists gently. “Aaron, that’s just how Kenji and I talk to each other. I know he didn’t mean it.”
“I just…” Aaron exhaled a sharp breath. “I hate seeing other people talk to you like that. They shouldn’t be talking to you like that, love.”
“I know but seriously, this is a normal thing about me and Kenji. We’re just comfortable.”
“Too comfortable.”
You couldn’t help but laugh as you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him close to you. He gave you a small soft smile, his nose grazing softly on yours. He let out a soft hum before pressing his lips on yours, kissing you so softly. You smiled through the kiss as you ran your fingers through his golden hair.
“C’mon. They’re waiting outside.” You murmured as you parted from the kiss.
Aaron threw his head back in frustration as you intertwined your fingers with his and dragged him out of the bowling place. In the parking lot, you found Nazeera and Kenji talking to each other by Kenji’s car. As soon as they saw the both of you, Kenji immediately crossed his arms in front of his chest, his brows all furrowed and he looked irritated. You glanced up at Aaron, giving him a look as he let out a sigh.
“I’m sorry.” Aaron said, his voice was cold.
“For?” Kenji raised his brows, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
“For telling you that I will rip your head out of your body.” Aaron’s grip on your waist tightened as you held in your chuckle.
Nazeera, on the other hand, couldn’t help but let out a snort as soon as Aaron said those words. You pursed your lips as you softly rubbed Aaron’s back, comforting him.
“Water under the bridge.” Kenji replied.
“Well,” Nazeera clapped her hands. “This was fun. We should do it again. Although, I don’t think we should drink next time.”
“I didn’t.” Aaron argued.
Nazeera tilted her head at him before shaking her head. She said her goodbye to you, pulling you into a hug and whispered, “Next time, it’s just going to be us girls.”
You laughed softly, nodding your head as you embraced her before giving Kenji a look and giving him a hug goodbye. As soon as Kenji and Nazeera drove off, Aaron turned you around to face him as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Let’s go home?” You asked.
“Why don’t we get ice cream first?” Aaron suggested.
“Hm… Ice cream sounds good. It will cool off that head of yours.” You teased, patting the back of his head.
Aaron chuckled softly, pulling you in for a kiss.
“Ice cream it is then.” He murmured, opening the passenger door for you.
The End.

part one - part two - part three - part four - epilogue
“Are you okay?” Joe asked, his brows all furrowed.
It has been two weeks since the incident with Eli at home, and you haven’t slept since. You were aware of the damage that was doing to your body and mental health. Your body had become numb. Every night, it was almost the same routine. You’d come home, Eli would complain about what you wore for the day, you would argue, and he would leave the flat. There were good days where he would be sweet to you and make you dinner. He’d give you kisses and he’d tell you how you were so beautiful but somehow, your night would always end in an argument and not once he had apologized to his behaviour at all.
He would just come home after an argument and be sweet to you again. He’d bring you flowers and chocolates the next day. He’d buy you just about anything, and you’d just take it. Even if the flowers would always end up dying by the end of the week. You’d put it in a vase and act like you cared about it, but you didn’t.
You’d let it die just like how you were dying on the inside.
It was slowly killing you, but you were too terrified to end it.
It would be your fault if something happened to him. What if you would regret the decision to end this? What if you were the one who was overreacting about all of this? Did Eli realize that you were dying on the inside, or was he too busy in his own world? Surely, he never did this on purpose, right? He said he loves you, remember?
But was love supposed to be like this? Was it supposed to be this complicated? Was love supposed to hurt like this?
“Hey,” You felt Joe’s hand gently on your forearm. “Are you okay?”
You gazed up at him, snapping back into reality and nodded your head. You have been too distracted for the last two weeks and there was no denying that Joe had noticed it. He hadn’t said anything because it wasn’t really any of his business, but you were worse today. You had dark circles under your eyes, and you could barely keep your eyes open. Joe also had noticed how you had two big cups of coffee already and it was only 10am.
“Yes, sorry. I… I just couldn’t sleep last night.” You finished fixing his collar before picking up his tie from the rack and helped him with it.
“Hey,” Joe stopped you by taking your hand gently, his expression was worried. “You’ve been saying the same excuse since last week.”
“I’m fine.” Your voice was almost a whisper as you tried to held in the tears that were welling up in your eyes.
It wasn’t a secret that you and Joe had been getting closer and sharing more personal things with each other whenever you two had some spare time between events. Even Alex himself had noticed the friendship that was forming between the two of you, and he couldn’t help but notice how it was affecting Joe in a better way. It made him more comfortable whenever he was out at the events and after parties, knowing that your presence was there next to him most of the time.
However, Joe didn’t have to get dragged by your own personal problems. Sure, you had shared most things about yourself to him but the one big elephant in the room hasn’t been mentioned nor talked about. That was only because you would always avoid the subject or tried to never bring it up. He wasn’t part of this. You were technically still working for him, and your important priority was to do your job well.
“Excuse me.” You slid your hand away from Joe’s and walked out of his dressing room.
You sat in one of the restroom stalls for about ten minutes and sobbed quietly, covering your mouth with the palm of your hand, trying your best to block out your sobs whenever you heard the restroom door open.
Eli didn’t hurt you physically, but he was mentally and emotionally hurting and draining you everyday.
Just like the fight you two had last night. It started off as a nice and quiet night with the two of you relaxing on your sofa. The television was on and the both of you were watching an episode of a show that Eli was interested in. You actually found the show boring, but you gave it a chance because Eli had been going on and on about how good it was. Your head was laying on Eli’s lap as you tried to stay focused on the show.
Suddenly, your phone on the coffee table buzzed and as you picked it up, you saw your sister texted you. You smiled happily as you watched the funny video that she sent and texted her back, letting her know that she could definitely relate to that.
“Hey, that's enough.” Eli scolded you.
“Hold on.” You smiled through the text as your sister replied back with a funny joke about the video.
“C’mon, that’s enough.” Eli grabbed the phone from your hands and hid it on the other side of him.
“I was talking to my sister.” You argued, sitting up on the sofa.
“So, is she more important than me? We barely see each other because of your stupid job.”
That was the last line before you had gotten up from the sofa, anger washing over you. You couldn’t even talk to your own sister without him being jealous over it.
“She’s my sister. I can talk to her if I want to.”
“Are you sure it’s your sister? Or is it someone else? Maybe a guy?” Eli’s voice raised as you shook your head in disbelief.
“Have fun watching your stupid show.” You murmured before walking away from him.
That was the first time you had something like that to him that made your hands shake when you had entered your bedroom, tears rolling down your cheeks. Eli had spent the night on the sofa after that, and he was gone the moment you had woken up this morning.
When you finally let out all your emotions and pushed the thought of what happened last night, you stood in front of the mirror and wiped the tears that stained your cheeks and tugged your lips into a fake smile in the mirror. You had a job to do and that was your focus right now. You needed to stop thinking about Eli and continue on with work because as far as everyone was concerned, you were okay and you needed this job.
Walking out of the restroom, you followed Alex’s instructions for the rest of the day. You watched Joe did his photoshoot and handed him his water bottle or food whenever he went on break. You didn’t say one word to him, only one word answers if it was necessary. However, you could see Joe’s concerned eyes on you the whole time. He knew there was something wrong, but you just didn’t want to tell him. It was your decision to make, and he didn’t want to force you into anything if you didn’t want to talk about it.
“Alex said you needed me?” You peeked your head behind his dressing room door later that night.
“Yeah, come in.” Joe smiled, gesturing for you to enter the room.
He was just sliding his jacket around his shoulders and ran his fingers through his messy curls. You couldn’t help but think about how he looked really good today, especially in the photoshoot. The photos turned out great.
“How can I help you?” You asked.
You didn’t move from your spot beside the door as Joe walked towards you.
“I need you to accompany me tonight.” Joe said, his eyes staring right into yours. “I already talked to Alex, and he agreed.”
“Oh.” That was all you could manage. “Wh…Where? Are we going to be out late?”
“Maybe.” Joe nodded his head. “Is that a problem?”
“Um…”
For some reason, you didn’t know why you couldn’t manage to tell Joe that you had a boyfriend. That he was expecting you to come home at a certain time. You were twenty seven years old for fuck’s sake. You were too embarrassed to let Joe know that you had a curfew.
Or maybe, you were too embarrassed over the fact that you were with someone who was making your life a living hell everyday, but you couldn’t seem to get out of it because of all the threats he had warned you. You didn’t know what you'd do if Eli would hurt himself if you broke this off. You didn’t want to be responsible for that. You didn’t love him anymore, but you still cared.
“I’ll… I’ll let my flatmate know.” You told him. “So, she doesn’t get worried.”
You were lying through your teeth, and you didn’t know why. Why couldn’t you just say it? Was there a possibility that maybe because you didn’t want Joe to know that you were taken? That you were in a relationship with someone who controls every little thing that you did?
Texting Eli that you were coming home late, you immediately turned your phone off because you didn’t want him calling you at all. You didn’t want to hear from him for the rest of the night.
“Ready?” Joe smiled.
You gave him a small smile and nodded your head, following Joe out the dressing room. The spring chilly air greeted you both as soon as you stepped out of the building. Joe didn’t tell you about where he was going and what exactly you needed to accompany him for. You figured you would just go with it and followed wherever he was taking you. You thought maybe he wanted to go to a party and needed someone to make sure he didn’t get too drunk or maybe, he needed you to run a small errand with him.
You really didn’t know but for the first time, you didn’t want to overthink. You already did that 24/7 everyday. You have been getting headaches everyday from overthinking that for the first time ever, you felt your body and shoulders relaxed. As you continued down the pavement, you were now realizing that you felt safe with Joe. Slightly gazing up at him, you bit your lower lip as he gazed down at you and gave you a small warm smile. It was a smile that sent shivers down your spine.
“So, where am I accompanying you?” You finally asked after a few minutes.
“Just here.” Joe replied as you both arrived at the park.
The park was quiet and peaceful. There were a couple people walking around and some were laying on the grass happily with their lovers or group of friends. The starry night sky covered the city, and you both walked towards the bench and sat on it, watching the skyline flickered in front of you. Taking a deep breath, you gazed up at the night sky and slightly smiled. Joe could see the sad smile that was tugging on your lips, and he couldn’t help but wonder what you were thinking about.
When was the last time that you went out alone? When was the last time you did something that made you happy?
“I had to accompany you to go to the park?” You asked.
“No, I am accompanying you, actually.” Joe replied. “I don’t know what you’re going through, but I feel like you needed this after today.”
You furrowed your brows, confused as you tilted your head at him. You didn’t realize Joe was that concerned over you. You didn’t realize he paid that much attention to you.
“You think I didn’t notice your red puffy eyes earlier?” Joe raised his brow at you.
Exhaling a sharp breath, you looked down to the ground. You were starting to look so pathetic lately. You couldn’t understand why you felt this way. You couldn’t understand why you were so weak. Everything that you did was never enough for Eli. Every effort and love you showed was just not enough. He always kept scores with his effort, and you didn’t even realize that until the last couple of months. Your body and mind was so exhausted that sometimes it just wanted to give out.
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to, but I’m here.” Joe’s voice was soft.
You gazed up at him with your brows all knitted together. You couldn’t understand why Joe was being this nice to you. Why was he treating you like this? You weren’t anyone special. You were just working for his team. He didn’t have to do all of this for you. Why did he care so much about what you feel? If only he knew how much of a mess you were.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” You asked.
For a minute, Joe was taken aback by your question. It was a simple answer in his head but in your head, there were many questions that kept creeping up. Almost like everything right now felt unreal.
“Because… I care.” Joe replied.
His eyes were genuine, and you could see it, but you couldn’t understand it. How could someone care about someone like you? Someone who was weak. Someone who wasn’t good enough for anything.
“Why?”
Joe let out a soft chuckle, moving close to you on the bench. His fingers found the strand of your hair as he tucked it behind your ear gently. His touch was soft and gentle, and he looked at you like you were the most beautiful girl in the world. Something that you have never seen with Eli. Something Eli never showed you.
“Because I like you.” Joe whispered. “I have grown to care too much about you, and I don’t know why, but I just do.”
“Joe…” You whispered.
Joe’s face was inches from yours, and you felt a jar of butterflies opened up in your stomach. You have never felt anything like this. Not for a long time. Not for anyone. You would be lying to yourself if you said you haven’t thought about Joe at all for the past few months. There was something about your conversations with him that made you feel safe and understood for the first time.
Looking into his chocolate button eyes, Joe’s soft lips brushed against yours. You hesitated for a moment because you knew that this was wrong. You would be cheating with Eli but at the same time, everything felt right when you were with Joe. Your lips moved against his as you kissed him back softly. Your mind started spinning as Joe pulled you close in his arms, his spare hand cupping your cheek gently. He was so gentle and soft. He kissed you unlike how Eli kissed you every night. He kissed you, showing every feeling he has for you. Like how much he cared and loved you.
If Eli would see the both of you right now, he would be furious. You would be the reason for ruining him. Quickly pulling away from Joe, you tried to catch your breath. Your eyes were still closed and your brows all furrowed as you shook your head.
You couldn’t hurt Joe like this. Not when Eli was watching every move you made.
“I… I’m sorry. I can’t.” You whispered.
“I’m sorry. Did I do something wrong?” Joe asked, his thumb brushing your cheek softly.
“N..No.” Your eyes shot up as you got up from the bench and played with your fingers nervously.
God, you were such a mess.
What did you do?
How could you do this to Joe?
“I… I have a boyfriend.” You answered as Joe got up and walked over to you.
You were pacing in front of him, and he gently took your hands in his to calm you down. You could feel your heartbeat pumping in your chest so fast that you couldn’t breathe. You couldn’t believe that you just kissed Joe.
You kissed Joe.
Eli was right. You were nothing but just pathetic and not good enough for anyone because how could you cheat on him? How could you hurt him?
“Hey, hey.” Joe tried to find your eyes, but you were shaking your head and couldn’t even look at him.
“Hey, look at me.” Joe murmured, his gentle fingers found your chin as he turned your head to stare into his eyes. “It’s okay. I’m sorry for doing that. I… I didn’t know.”
Of course, he didn’t because you didn’t want him to know.
That was your choice to keep it from him because you were such a mess when it came to your life. Joe didn’t deserve to be treated this way either.
Joe could see from your reaction that it wasn’t the kiss that you were worried about. It was something else. He took a step back for a moment, his hands never leaving yours as he studied you with worried eyes.
“Is… Is he the reason why you were crying earlier?” Joe asked, his voice was stern.
Tears started welling up in your eyes as you sat back down on the bench and wiped the tear that rolled down your cheek with the back of your hand. Joe knelt down in front of you, taking your hands in his.
“What is it?” He asked.
“I’m not even supposed to be out right now.” Your voice stuttered through your small sobs. “I… I’m supposed to be home by 9, and I turned my phone off because I know he would be calling me asking where I am and who I am with.”
Your lips and hands trembled, and Joe could see the terror in your eyes. He never saw that in you before, but you were terrified. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Why was your boyfriend giving you a curfew like you were a teenager? Why were you so terrified of him?
“That’s… That’s not right.” Joe murmured. “He’s controlling your life.”
“No,” You shook your head, wiping more tears that were rolling down your cheeks. “It’s my fault. I… I never show him enough love. I never listen to him when he wants me to do something.”
Suddenly, Joe could feel his anger rising from the words that you were telling him. He hasn’t met Eli, but he couldn’t believe how much of a wreck he had made of you.
“What does he want you to do?”
“He wants me to quit this job.” You sobbed, burying your face in your hands. “But I can’t. I need the money… I… I have debts from uni, and I want to have my own career, but he doesn’t think my career is good for me.”
“Do you think it’s not good for you?”
For the first time in a long time, you never heard someone ask you about what you want. No one has asked you for a long time what you really felt. You have put aside your happiness and needs lately just to make Eli happy.
“I…” You looked up at him, your cheeks stained with your mascara. “I… don’t know.”
Joe wiped your mascara stained tears and helped you up from the bench. He cupped both of your cheeks with his hands and looked deeply into your eyes.
“What does your heart say? The real truth without having to think about his opinion on your decision.”
“I don’t want to leave.” You whispered. “I want to stay.”
“Then, stay.” Joe whispered before pulling you into his arms and held you tightly.
You didn’t understand the feelings that were washing over you. You didn’t understand how you deserve someone like Joe in your life. Joe embracing you in his arms made you feel safe like no one in this world could hurt you, not even Eli. You buried your face on Joe’s chest, letting a few more tears rolled down your cheeks, and Joe didn’t hesitate to comfort you. He didn’t hesitate to make sure that you were okay.
“I meant what I said.” Joe whispered through your hair as he planted a soft kiss on it. “I do care about you.”
Pulling away from his arms, you looked up at Joe as he gave you a warm reassuring smile. His face was full of genuinity, and you kept wondering how this man in front of you would care so much even after you literally just cried and vented in front of him about all the complicated and dark secrets that you have.
“I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t feel the same way.” You murmured. “But…”
“I know.” Joe answered.
“Doesn’t mean I don’t want to.” You took a deep breath.
“I don’t want to force you nor want you to make you feel any worse than you already do. That’s the last thing I want.” Joe explained.
Looking at him, you knew how you felt about Joe. You had frozen your world for Eli for a long time now and this time, you wanted to break out of it. This time, you wanted to listen to what your heart was saying and that was how much you liked Joe for a while now.
Staring deep into his chocolate button eyes, you knew this decision you would be making. Leaning close to him, you kissed him passionately, wrapping your arms around his neck as you stood in your tiptoes. Joe smiled through the kiss, wrapping an arm around your torso and pulled you against his body. He didn’t hesitate to kiss you back as he let his other hand run through your hair. You could feel the heat radiating between the both of you as you kissed him deeply, finally letting go of all your fears and insecurities for the first time. Pulling away breathlessly, Joe pressed his forehead against yours.
“I… I don’t want to hurt you.” You whispered.
“You’re not. I know the risk.” Joe murmured, brushing your cheek softly. “I want to break you out of this hellhole.”
“It’s not your responsibility.”
“I don’t care.” Joe pressed a soft kiss on your forehead before you let go from his arms.
The absence of you in Joe’s arms was already making him miss you as you grabbed your purse from the bench. You didn’t exactly know what this meant between you and Joe now. You also didn’t know what was going to happen with you and Eli. Hurting them both was the last thing in your mind, but you knew that whatever effort you did with Eli, it was always never enough for him.
“Let me take you home.” Joe suggested.
“No, please.” You held his hand. “I… I don’t know what I’ll do if Eli sees you. I don’t know how he’ll react.”
“I’m scared for your safety.”
“I’m okay, I promise. I…” You sighed. “I’m sorry. I just can’t risk this right now.”
“Please text me when you get home safe.” Joe cupped your face in his hands again. “And please don’t hesitate to call me if you don’t feel safe. I’ll be there as fast as I can.”
You nodded your head, leaning up to kiss him again before finally letting go from his arms. Walking back home, you pulled the coat closer in your chest and finally turned your phone on, finding 30 missed calls from Eli. You knew what was going to greet you when you arrived home. It was an expectation at this point.
“So, did you just forget that I existed?”
That was the first thing Eli had told you the moment you entered the flat. You weren’t even halfway closing the front door yet nor had taken your coat off, and he was already upset. He was sitting in the living room with the TV turned off as he waited for you all night.
“I told you I was going to be late. I got busy.” You answered, your voice was cold.
“Do you even care about me?”
You sighed. You had enough. It was the same thing over and over again. You wanted to just lash out and let him know that no, you didn’t love him anymore. That no, you weren’t happy anymore because he was controlling, possessive and jealous. He was always gaslighting you, and you were so tired of reassuring his feelings everyday. You were so sick and tired of babysitting him and making sure that he was okay.
You wanted to lash out. You wanted to yell at him and tell him every single thing that you were feeling about him because you were done. Turning your attention back to Eli, you saw the tears that were welling up in his eyes.
“You don’t love me anymore.” Eli murmured. “How could you, right? I’m not anyone important. I’m poor. I don’t have an education.”
“That’s not…” You shook your head, feeling a knot in your stomach. “Don’t say that.”
You pulled him in your arms, rubbing his back softly. You couldn’t feel anything anymore. You were gone. You were numb, and you have lost yourself. You didn’t recognize who you were anymore. It was like living in someone else’s body. Even comforting Eli and holding him in your arms, you didn’t feel one emotion inside of you.
You felt dead.
You were exhausted and wished the floor would eat you whole right now. At this point, it would hurt less. You took Eli’s hand in yours and walked him to the bedroom, closing the door behind you.
“Let’s just go to bed.” You said.
Eli pulled you by your hips, pressing your body against his. “Do you love me?”
You stared into his eyes, nodding your head. “Yes.”
Eli kissed you roughly on the lips as you kissed him back. His fingers started unbuttoning your shirt as he pushed you towards the bed and towered over you. His kisses burned your skin, and you couldn’t move nor do anything about it. You felt trapped. You didn’t want this anymore.
You want to be freed from this prison.
You want to love someone right. You want to feel the right love from someone because Eli’s “love” was slowly killing you, and you didn’t know how long until you finally drowned into this madness of love that he had for you. You didn't know how you could take off this anchor chain that was around your neck.
You were looking for a line to hold on to as you tried to catch your breath, trying not to drown in this deep monstrous ocean that you were in.
You were drowning.
You were choking.
You couldn’t breathe.
You were crying for help through the four walls of this bedroom, and no one could hear you.

Aaron Warner x Fem!Reader
Summary: You and Aaron Warner have been secretly seeing each other since the beginning of Spring. The problem is that your parents are part of Omega Point, the rebel group of The Reestablishment. While Aaron’s father runs The Reestablishment along with other leaders from other continent. From secret meetings to I love yous, you start questioning if all of this is worth taking the risk.
Author's Note: Hello, here's my first Aaron series. First off, I ctrl+delete Juliette in this AU. Second, Aaron is in his late twenties in this story and so is the reader. I try to make everything as accurate as possible but it has been a while since I read the first three books for the series, so I might forget certain details. Anyway, comments are welcome! Let me know if you want to be tagged. Enjoy! :)

part one - part two - part three - part four - part five
It was raining.
It was always raining these days. If not, the sky was dark and gloomy. You didn’t know how long since the last time you saw the sun. Since The Reestablishment had taken over and wars had broken out all around the world, the sky was just blanketed by dark gray skies. You remembered your childhood and how the world was back then. Sunny skies, pink sunsets, children on the playground. You would hear the ice cream truck around the neighborhood during summer. You remember spending Christmas and Thanksgiving with your family. It was your favorite time of the year.
Autumn and Winter.
Now, it was just cold, gloomy and rainy most days. The weather was pretty much unpredictable. Broken buildings, fires breaking out, civilians lost around the streets outside or getting shot if they didn’t follow The Reestablishment’s rules. You have seen the brutal things the government had done to those civilians, and it hurts to see them suffer and it hurts even more knowing you couldn’t do anything about it. Your parents had warned you to stay away from trouble. To always stay alert because you never know what The Reestablishment would do next.
Your parents were part of a secret organization called Omega Point. They ran it along with their friend Castle. The group took in people who have some sort of supernatural abilities and aimed to destroy The Reestablishment. You, however, didn’t have any special abilities. You were only part of the group because of your parents.
Castle was always alert, and he seemed to know more than what he led on. You couldn’t help but wonder if your parents also knew more than what they usually would tell you. You were always good at spying and sneaking out. That was your talent and most of the time, you were always successful in your own little personal agendas. Your parents knew that too. So, you figured they wouldn’t lie to you, knowing that you would eventually find out anyway.
There was that one time that your parents had caught you sneaking out of the Omega Point base back in the Spring. They were furious over it that you were stuck for two weeks in your room because they didn’t want you going anywhere. You didn’t care though because you had an interesting time that night. You had sneaked out and pretended that you were part of the little gathering of The Reestablishment’s leaders. You were always so curious as to what they did. Curious how great their life must be in that part of Sector 45.
And you were right.
Because you saw everything. They had everything they wanted as if the world didn’t burn down and everyone was living in this hell. Most civilians could barely find any food to feed themselves and here they were living like Kings and Queens.
“Are you lost?”
His voice made you jump. You were at the back of the building, looking through the window and trying to see what was happening inside. You never had anyone caught you before. Ever. Not even your parents when you were spying or sneaking out and here he was, standing over you. As you looked over your shoulder, you saw a man with blond hair and piercing green eyes. He was staring at you with some sort of curiosity. Some trespasser, he probably thought. You were, but that didn’t matter because you were supposed to act like you were part of this gathering. He was in uniform and on his uniform it said, “Sector 45 CCR, A. Warner.” Your eyes shifted at the name, and you knew then that you had to make up some excuse to convince him that you belong in this little gathering.
“Um… no.” You shook your head, straightening your clothes. “Just trying to get some air.”
His emerald eyes studied you as you stood there with your back straight, acting like there was confidence radiating out of you. However, you could feel your heart beating out of your chest. It was running a million miles per hour, and you were terrified that he would be able to hear it. He furrowed his brows and looked over his shoulder to see the dark clouds blanketing the city. You knew he was wondering what you meant by that because it had been a while since the world had an actual fresh air. It made you even terrified that he probably realized that you weren’t part of this little party.
“Hm…” His eyes studied you from top to bottom. “Which continent are you from? I’ve never seen you before.”
Your heart was gone. You couldn’t feel it anymore as you tried to make up some excuse but thankfully, he was called by another soldier from a distance. You immediately hid behind the post, so you wouldn’t be seen and just like that, he walked away. A sigh of relief washed over you as you watched him enter the building with the soldier.
Sneaking inside the building, you made sure everyone else was busy and made your way up the stairs. You didn’t bother taking the elevator since you might bump into some more people and then, you were met with a long hallway, bright fluorescent lights illuminating it.
It made you feel like you were in a hospital.
Walking down the hall, you found the Supreme Commander’s office. The name Anderson was on the door and quietly, you turned the knob and peered your head behind the door. It was empty and dark. You looked around the office and went around the desk to find some sort of evidence to prove that The Reestablishment was doing something wrong.
Something that could help Omega Point take down The Reestablishment once and for all.
Letting out a sigh, you pulled one of the drawers, but it was locked. All of them needed a key. Looking through all the files on his desk, you couldn’t find anything interesting nor the key to open up one of the drawers. You figured maybe he kept it safe with him. Hearing footsteps coming from down the hall, you walked out of the office and rapidly walked back to the fire escape staircase only to be met with the same man again.
He furrowed his brows and tilted his head at you. “What are you doing here?”
You sighed, “Can’t find the bathroom. Where is it?”
He turned his head to the side and gave you a side eye before walking back down the stairs and led you down onto another long hallway.
“Thanks.” You murmured and entered the restroom.
You waited a few minutes until you saw the shadow of his footsteps disappear. Unlocking the door, you looked both ways before finding the exit and out the back of the building again. You quietly hid from the soldiers that were on the lookout until you felt a hand cover your mouth, and you were pulled into a dark alley.
Your fight and flight mode immediately turned on as you struggled in the person’s grip. You tried to reach for your knife in your back pocket, but the person was pulling you in their arms too quickly. Using your elbow, you jabbed the person right on their stomach as they groaned softly from the pain. You told your legs to start running as fast as you could, but you felt their hand grab your wrist and immediately, all you felt was the stinging pain on your back by the brick wall.
The light from the post illuminated his face, and you saw that it was the same man you met earlier. He pinned you against the wall, his hand clamped over your mouth, and his green eyes were wide. He quietly held up his index finger in front of his lips to let you know to be quiet as you both heard footsteps from a soldier from a distance.
He pulled you away from the light and hid you from the dark corner until the soldier had disappeared.
“Who are you?!” You whispered, anger in your voice. “Why do you keep following me?!”
An amused soft laugh escaped from him as his face leaned closer to yours.
“I should be asking you that, love.” He whispered. “Who are you, and why are you sneaking around the building?”
You swallowed every emotion that was washing over you right now. Your heart was beating a thousand miles as you stared into his eyes. They were icy pale green. His features were sharp, and he looked sort of beautiful. Almost unreal.
“You could answer me or I could get one of the soldiers to throw you out or worse.” He added, his voice was cold and stern, his spare hand finding his gun on his holster.
Your eyes followed where his hand was, and you kept your mouth shut. You couldn’t say a word. You couldn’t risk putting your parents and all your friends in danger because of one mistake that you made. Maybe you should have listened to your parents. Maybe you should have stayed back in the base and all of this wouldn’t have happened. He stared at you for a moment, his eyes studied you and his brows furrowed.
“I’m a nobody.” You finally replied, your voice stuttering. “J..Just lost.”
His eyes kept studying you until he took a step back and finally let go of you. You exhaled a sharp breath and looked at him for a moment. He looked distressed. He looked lonely. You didn’t really understand how you knew that, but you could see it in his eyes.
“Go before someone sees you.” He said, his head hung low.
You were ready to run because you should be, right? So, how come your legs weren’t moving? How come you couldn’t bear to leave him like that?
“Y… You’re just gonna let me go?” You asked.
He lifted his head, his eyes boring into yours. It made your heart beat faster again as he said, “Be glad I’m irritated tonight. I don’t have the energy to take you into a prison cell or kill you and make a whole scene.”
Taking a few steps back, you looked over your shoulder one more time before running off. That was when you were met with your parents when you arrived back at the base. They were furious. Asking you a bunch of different questions as to where you were and how dare you leave the base without letting anyone know. Your best friend, Kenji, was standing behind them. A disappointed look in his eyes as they sent you to your room and told you that you were going to be watched for the next two weeks to make sure you weren’t going to make any more reckless decisions.
Then, after two weeks passed, you found yourself outside the Omega Point base. You were walking near the water, your thoughts pinwheeling and wondering how long were you all going to hide? You kept asking if this was how the world was going to be until you died. Kept wondering how much more damage The Reestablishment would do until everything would fall apart even more. Wondering what else they did underneath all those metal tall buildings. What decisions and plans were they planning?
Then, you felt that familiar touch grab you by the wrist. You let out a small shriek as you were pulled in the nearby forest—at least what was left of it—
“You.” Your eyes widened.
You looked around for soldiers but there was no sign of them. You had told Kenji what happened that night. You described the soldier as someone who looked unreal, beautiful and part of you thought you were dreaming that night.
“I don’t know, maybe there’s something in the air at their base.” You lightly teased.
“You said his uniform said CCR A. Warner?” Kenji’s eyes widened.
“Yes, why?”
You saw the worry that washed over Kenji’s face as he said, “That’s Anderson’s son. Warner is the most brutal and heartless Chief Commander in Sector 45. Jesus Christ, Princess!”
Anderson’s son? You knew about him, but you hadn't realized it was him, especially with the fact that his name was Warner, not Anderson.
“Brutal and heartless?” You tilted your head. “Then… Then why’d he let me go that easily?”
“I don’t know but there’s something wrong about it. You need to be more careful! You don't know his agenda, and you might end up dead next time.”
Warner.
Kenji’s words echoed in your head as you shook your wrist from his grip. You didn’t know what it was but there was something in his eyes today. Some concern he was feeling. If he was so heartless like Kenji said then why could you see the human inside him?
The son of the Supreme Commander of Sector 45. Warner was the Chief Commander and Regent. The man that the soldiers were afraid of because of how cold he was. He could kill someone in a heartbeat and not have an emotion over it. How much of a robot he was as Kenji told you. You still couldn’t understand why he let you go unharmed. How he didn’t kill you for spying. You didn’t understand one bit of it.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, your voice was low and ice cold. “Are you here to kill me? If so, just do it now—”
“No.” He shook his head, his eyes stared at the ground. “I know who you are.”
He took your hand and dragged you further in the forest until you both saw the lake. He dropped your hand and pinched the bridge of his nose and paced back and forth in front of you. He whispered your name, and you wondered how he knew that. Although, knowing that he was the son of the Supreme Commander, you realized they probably kept files of everyone.
“You’re part of Omega Point.” He stated, his tracks stopped and he stood in front of you.
You felt your heart drop to your stomach. If he knew about you, then he probably would have known all the members of Omega Point. Kenji, Castle, you… your parents.
Maybe you knew nothing of this world after all. Knew nothing about what The Reestablishment did nor what Castle and your parents knew about the new world.
“H…How did you—” You shook your head.
“Doesn’t matter.” He took a step closer. “My father…” He took a deep breath. “I think…he’s killing… children. Killing certain people.”
You didn’t say a word. That revelation was a shock to you, but you knew there was something going on. You knew it was more than just taking over the world. More than just building up a new world, new rules and destroying every bit of history from the past.
“That was why you were there, weren’t you?” Warner asked, his voice was stern. “You knew about this?”
“No.” You said. “I… I knew there’s something more going on. I was there to find evidence, but I wasn’t able to.”
“Well, I did.” Warner replied, his head shaking. “I think…”
“I…I’m sorry.” That was all you could manage.
You didn’t exactly understand why he was here. Why was he telling you all of this? What did he want from you? Why did he risk coming out here to talk to you?
“I’m not.” He said. “I knew my father was vile… A psychopath.”
“What are you saying?”
“I want to help take him down.” His green eyes went dark as it met yours. “I want to kill him.”
A small gasp escaped your lips as he took another step forward towards you. You could feel your heart pounding in your chest as Warner looked up and stared at something behind you.
“Meet me in that cabin at night.” He murmured. “I will look for more information and evidence that could help.”
You followed his eyes and saw the cabin just not too far. It was behind the tall redwood trees. This forest was the only thing left of this broken world, and you didn’t even realize there was a cabin right there. It was too hidden.
“But—”
But before you could say anything Warner had already left. You were left in the middle of the woods with your thoughts again. In the beginning, you were terrified to actually go through and believe what Warner said. You didn’t know him and he was part of The Reestablishment. How would you know that you could trust him? How do you know that he wasn’t playing a double agent?
When you had sneaked out that night to the cabin, you brought yourself a few weapons in your pocket just in case you needed them. You couldn't bear to let Kenji know what you were doing. At least until you were sure about all of this.
Looking around the forest, you saw no sign of other soldiers, but you couldn’t help but wonder if they were just hiding. Entering the cabin quietly, you found Warner sitting by the fireplace. He had documents laid out all over the coffee table and wooden floors. You closed the door behind you and studied the image in front of you. For a moment, you slowly started to believe what he told you. He did brought the evidence. He brought every document he could find in his father’s office.
“What are these?” You asked, settling yourself on the floor next to him.
You couldn’t help but notice that he was in his suit. Did this man ever wore anything else other than his uniform and suits? Your eyes then studied his blond hair, his long golden lashes and his eyes that were focused on the papers in front of him.
“Records of the children that mysteriously disappeared.” He said, gazing up at you. “But there was no evidence why they disappeared.”
He gazed up at you, green eyes staring into yours. It was almost enchanting that you had to look away and focus your attention on the papers in front of you. Both of you spent the night looking through the documents, but you both couldn’t seem to find anything. They were all just records saying that they either died from an accident or they disappeared out of nowhere. No hard evidence at all.
Then, another night came and another and another. Kenji started noticing your late night routine until you finally told him the truth.
“Are you insane?!” He whisper-yelled in the middle of the hall. “This is not a good idea, Princess.”
“Just please trust me?” You pleaded. “Just please cover for me if my parents or Castle look for me.”
“Nuh uh!” Kenji shook his head. “I’m not going to agree with your little suicidal plan with Warner.”
“Kenji, he could be the key to finding all these records. I’ve seen it. Please just give us more time.”
Kenji stared at you for a moment before exhaling a sharp breath and said, “I hope you realized who you are talking to every night in that secluded cabin.”
A smile creeped up on your face as you pulled your best friend into a hug and thanked him. Then, a week of meeting with Warner had become two weeks then one month. Then, two months until Spring ended and Summer finally came. Not that it mattered since the weather stayed the same. It was rainy, dark and gloomy.
The more you spent with Warner, the more you saw a different side of him. His walls were slowly unraveling in front of you, but it wasn’t to the point where you knew his personal secrets. His personal life. You have never seen him smile, he was always so serious. But he had told you about his father and how his mother died. That was the closest personal thing you have known about him.
It was awful.
His father tortured her and gave her drugs until she turned into almost like a wild animal. Warner mentioned how his mother’s ability was that no one could touch her, but her power was so strong that she could feel the pain of her own skin and suffered until she died from it. You were slowly understanding why he hated his father and why he was rebelling against him.
At least you thought you understood all of it until that one night…
“Here.” He handed you a box..
“What is this?” You furrowed your brows and opened up the box.
Inside, there was wrapping paper and once you had ripped it open, you found a green dress, almost the same color as his eyes. You held up the dress in front of you and then stared at him, confused.
“What is this for?” You asked.
“You don’t like it?” He grabbed the dress from your hands. “I’ll change it. I don’t know your favorite color.”
He couldn’t even look at you. He was staring at the dress in his hands and then, you realized something. The dress was the most obvious one out of all the things he brought every time you met up with him. It was food at the beginning. Then, a nice blanket. Told you that it gets cold at night in the cabin, and it annoyed him to see you shivering all night. Then, you found some fancy soaps in the bathroom, which you never understood because you never took a shower in the cabin. Then, the cabin was slowly being decorated nicely. You thought maybe he was trying to make it a lot cozier.
But no.
He was doing all of this for you. He was giving you gifts, but why?
“No,” you took the dress back from his hands. “I like it. Thanks.”
You studied the dress in your hands for a moment then, you felt his presence in front of you. Suddenly, you felt the air between the two of you shift. His fingers found a strand of hair from your face as he tucked it behind your ear. You gazed up at him through your lashes and found his face inches from yours.
You couldn’t breathe.
His fingers brushed gently against your cheek, and a small gasp escaped your lips. He never touched you. He was always distant even when he was sitting next to you. It was almost like there was a wall between the two of you but the moment you felt his touch, all of a sudden, you saw that wall crack.
“You’d look beautiful in that dress.” He whispered.
The air in your lungs suddenly gave out. The wall he had put up between the two of you had split open.
“Warner, I… I don’t understand what’s happening.” Your words stuttered, you could barely find your voice.
His hands then cupped your face as his green eyes were staring deep into yours. His eyes sparkled, and you were a glass almost breaking into pieces. His touch was the only thing that was keeping you glued together for a moment. He held your face like you were something so delicate that he was afraid he'd break you if he wasn’t careful.
“Do you know how much it’s killing me that I can’t hold you?” He murmured. “How much it’s killing me that I can’t stop thinking about you every second of the day?”
“Y…You can’t stop thinking about me?”
His thumb traced the outline of your lips before his nose grazed against yours. You held your breath as you closed your eyes. You could feel the heat radiating off your body and all of a sudden, you couldn’t think straight anymore.
“I can’t stop thinking about your eyes, these lips…” his thumb softly touched your lips, almost like a feather-like touch. “...your voice—god, your voice.”
His hand slipped at the back of your head before he said, “I don’t want to scare you away.”
Your breath hitched, “You’re not.”
His sharp features were right in front of you, and his eyes studied each detail of you. You forgot what it was like to breathe. Time has stopped. Time froze the moment he pressed his lips against yours, and you didn’t hesitate to kiss him back. He tasted so sweet. He tasted like peppermint. He kissed you hungrily and desperately like he has been waiting for this for a long time. He pulled you close and pressed your body against his. Your hands slid on his chest, and you could feel his chest heaving as he let his lips trailed down your jawline and down your neck.
You were gone.
You didn’t know how you were still alive because you had stopped breathing a long time ago. His kisses sent shivers down your body. It was something you never experienced before. Never felt before. It was so soft and at the same time, it was something so special. A luxury that you never tasted before.
Warner scooped you up in his arms and carried you towards the bedroom, setting you gently on the bed. For a moment, he pulled away from the kiss. Both of you were breathless, and his fingers were caressing your face softly.
“I…I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time.” He whispered.
You gazed up at him, breathless. “Then, kiss me again.” You murmured before pulling him close to you again.
His lips kissed down your neck and down to your collarbone as he tugged on your shirt and pulled it over your head. You couldn’t breathe. You weren’t here anymore. His lips trailed down to your chest, and his hand gripped your hips as you ran your fingers through his hair. A jar of butterflies exploded in your stomach and fluttered all over your body.
“Warner.” You whispered.
“Yes, love?” He gazed up at you.
“Are… Are you sure about this?”
Your heart was drumming hard in your chest and you swore, he could hear it. There was nothing more you wanted than this, but you knew how complicated the situation was. You didn’t want to wake up tomorrow and find him gone. You didn’t want to wake up and find out that he regretted it. Most of all, you wanted to trust him. Believe him that this was real.
“I’ve never wanted anything more than this, love.” He said. “You’re consuming every part of my soul, and I can’t explain why.”
You slid your hand behind his head and pulled him down to kiss him deeply. Your heart was pounding hard, and you felt the world stopped around you.
It was just you and him.
You fumbled through the buttons of his shirt and immediately slid it over his broad shoulders. Pulling away from the kiss, you gazed down at his body, your fingers ran down his bare skin and you heard a breathless gasp escape his lips. Your fingers ran through the hills and curves of his muscles on his stomach. Then, you saw his tattoo that sits right on the bottom of his torso. Just below his hip bone.
Hell is empty and all the devils are here.
Your fingers grazed over the words, and you saw Warner’s chest went up and down as you continued to touch him.
“So… beautiful.” You whispered.
However, you didn’t know what happened or what you said to him because you saw something shifted inside him. His eyes had gone dimmed and he immediately pulled away from you. You furrowed your brows and questions started running in your mind.
“What is it?” You asked.
“I…” He shook his head.
You were confused. You watched as he repeatedly shook his head. He looked embarrassed. He got up from the bed and so did you. He kept taking a step back, and he looked jittery.
You never saw him like this before.
“Warner…” You took a step forward.
You wanted to reach for him, but he was pulling away from you, and you didn’t understand why. You thought this was what he wanted.
“I’m not…” His voice stuttered.
Then, when he bent down to pick up his shirt from the floor, a gasp escaped your lips. Immediately, you walked towards him. You hesitated to touch him, but you saw it. You saw all of it.
Scars.
His back was covered with them. Right on his upper back, just between his shoulder blades, there was also a tattoo that said:
IGNITE.
“W—What happened?” You asked, your fingers finally grazing over the scarred skin of his back.
He winced from your touch as he turned around to face you. His face looked like he was in pain as he stared at you for a moment.
“It’s repulsive, I know.” He said, sliding his shirt back in his body. “They’re birthday gifts from my father from when I was five until I was eighteen.”
You couldn’t help but clamped over a hand on your mouth, another gasp escaping from you. You felt the tears welled up in your eyes as you shook your head. Warner couldn’t even look at you. He turned his head to the side and stared at the wall.
“I’m not beautiful, love.” He murmured. “I’m repulsive, and I’ve killed people before. Tortured them…”
You were frozen for a moment. Trying to comprehend everything that you just learned. You knew his father was vile and a psychopath but the thought of Aaron having to go through that kind of abuse? The thought of him being trained by his father to kill people? Anger washed over you. Turning to face him, you walked across the room and cupped his face in your hands, letting his green eyes find yours.
“You’re not repulsive, and I’m not redacting my statement.” You said sternly.
There wasn’t anything else that you needed to say to convince him to believe you because he was now cupping your face in his hands, his emerald eyes sparkling. You could hear your heart drumming in your ears as he pulled you in for another kiss. A hungry and desperate one but at the same time, it was all so soft like cotton candy. You slid his shirt away from his shoulders again as he carried you to the bed and towered over you. He was breathless as he kissed down your body, and you swore the room started to spin.
You couldn’t help but wonder if this was what heaven was like. If this was it. If you finally died and went to heaven. If you did, it was peaceful. Quiet. The only one that was looking at you was this man with piercing green eyes and leaving you soft feathered kisses all over your body like you were something new. Like he had never had something like this in his life, and he was afraid that he'd lose it if he didn’t hold on to it tightly.
Your thoughts were gone as soon as you felt him unzipping your pants. The rest of your clothes were on the floor, and you were lying naked in front of him. You felt the blood rushed to your face as he studied you, a small smile lingering on his lips.
“So enchanting.” He whispered before pressing his face on your neck and leaving soft kisses on your skin.
“I think…” He breathed heavily. “...my heart has exploded a million times.”
You smiled softly and cupped his face, looking right at him. You have never known this kind of look before. You have never seen anyone look at you like this before. Repeating the words that Warner just told you, you couldn’t help but think about how your heart also exploded a million times because this…
This was everything.
Being with him was like a safe bubble that you wished you never wanted to leave. If you were asked, you would stay in this cabin forever. You didn’t care about anything else. You just wanted to be with him everyday and that was how it went for the next few weeks. You sneaked out of the base and saw Warner almost every night. It was an escape from this cruel world. A happiness you never knew existed but time was never enough.
It was always never enough.
You always found yourself going back to the base in the early mornings, hoping you wouldn’t be caught by anyone. It was the perfect time since everyone would be asleep and the streets were empty during those hours.
“You’re late.”
You stopped in your tracks right before entering your room and turned around to find Kenji standing with his arms crossed in front of his chest. Sometimes you hated the fact that his power was invisibility because this man always appeared out of nowhere.
“Only five minutes late.” You corrected him.
“I don’t like this, Princess.” Kenji said.
You looked around to make sure no one was around before pulling Kenji inside your room and let out a sigh.
“Please, Kenji.” You murmured. “I do appreciate you covering for me every night but please understand that this is important to me.”
“Important?” Kenji raised his brow. “You’re meeting up with Warner. Anderson’s son. You know, the one who made this whole shit show of a world in the first place? The one we’re trying to take down?”
“I know, I know.” You raised a hand up to stop him. “But he isn’t like that. He understands what we do, and he wants to help.”
Kenji let out a scoff. “How sure are you that he can be trusted?”
“Because I know.” Your eyes were pleading for him to understand.
“How sure are you that he isn’t using you just to get information about us too?”
“Because he also hates his father and besides, we haven’t talked about that in a while.” You felt your cheeks heat up as you remembered Warner for a moment.
Kenji was suddenly all scrunched up in disgust as he shook his head. “Ew. That’s gross. Don’t ever say that again to me.”
“Just please, trust me? We will figure this all out soon. He’s trying.”
Kenji let out a sigh and nodded his head. “Just be careful out there. It’s dangerous and honestly, I don’t like the fact that you are running around late at night out there.”
“Please,” You said, holding back from rolling your eyes. “I can handle myself, Kenji.”
“I know you can but still.”
You laughed softly. You were grateful for Kenji and besides the fact that you knew he wasn’t really agreeing with this whole thing, you were still glad that he always understood you and never doubted you.
“Whatever you say, Princess.” Kenji said before walking out the door.
Flopping yourself on the bed, you exhaled sharply and stared at the ceiling. You couldn’t help but wonder if Kenji was right. Warner was Anderson’s son and even if he gotten pretty good at sneaking out of the base, you were terrified that one day his father might find out. Then, what was going to happen? It would risk everything.
Everyone.

Ghost of Father's Past
Aaron Warner x Fem!Reader
Summary: It's Aaron's birthday and well... the past is still calling him, unfortunately.
Author's Note: Work has been really crazy, so I apologize for this little dry fic. I just wanted to do something for Aaron's birthday, so here it is.
Wordcount: 2.2K
Tumblr media
You haven’t seen Aaron all day.
It wasn’t like you mind it because you also have been busy all day. It was his birthday, the one day that you knew he loved to avoid. So, you weren’t really surprised that he had locked himself in his office. The only time you have seen him was when you woke up this morning. He was already in his suit, tying his tie when you had fluttered your eyes open. For a moment, you just enjoyed the view that was in front of you before he turned around and saw you staring at him. Immediately, a small smile tugged on his lips.
“Good morning, love.” He murmured, letting his knee sunk into the mattress and hovered over you, giving you a soft kiss on the lips.
“Happy Birthday.” You whispered, caressing his cheek softly.
You saw his eyes suddenly dimmed when you mentioned it. He just gave you a soft hum and leaned down to kiss you again. You knew that he hated thinking about his birthday. He hated celebrating it because of the violent abuse he had faced from his father during his birthdays. This was his first birthday since his father died, and you wanted him to have a different memory. You wanted to replace the terrible memories from his past birthdays into good, happy ones.
So, when he had prisoned himself in his office for the rest of the day, you knew that he had occupied himself with work. You took that opportunity and decided to prepare something special in the dining room. You decorated it with different colored balloons, cooked his favorite food and even ordered him a birthday cake. It was his first birthday cake in his life, and you wanted it to be special.
You wanted everything to be special.
“I have been better.”
You looked over your shoulder as you set the food that you just finished cooking on the dining table. Aaron’s voice echoed quietly through his office door. You furrowed your brows and wondered if he was on the phone. As you continued to finish setting the table, you realized that it was already late afternoon. Aaron was still in his office, and he hadn't come out once. In fact, he didn’t even bother coming out to have lunch. You have occupied yourself too much the whole day that you were just now realizing that you haven’t seen him since this morning.
“I don’t need your validation.”
You heard Aaron’s voice again through his office door. This time, he sounded angry and frustrated. Then the moment you looked over your shoulder, you saw him stormed out of the office and into the bedroom. Finishing what you were doing, you quietly walked down the hall and into the bedroom. You wondered if he was talking to someone on the phone that made him stressed and angry.
Pushing the door open, you saw Aaron had his back against the headboard and his knuckles digging into his eyes. He looked stressed, and you didn’t know what to do or say to be able to comfort him.
“Aaron?” You whispered, slowly walking up to him.
“What is it?” He asked, his voice cold.
“Are you okay?”
He exhaled a sharp breath and sat up straight on the bed. His green eyes were dark, and you could see the frustration that was washing over his face. He ran his fingers through his blond hair and exhaled a deep sharp breath.
“I just need space.” He said. “Work is stressful right now.”
You pursed your lips, hesitating whether to move closer to him or not. You knew it wasn’t work that was stressing him out. It was this day, and you didn’t want to bother adding more stress for him. Although, you also wanted to be there for him. So, you were currently debating in your head what to do.
“Maybe you should try taking a break for today.” You suggested.
Aaron sighed and got up from the bed and fixed his suit. He stared into your eyes, and you could see the coldness that was washing over him. It was almost like you couldn’t find the Aaron that you knew. This was the Aaron that he would show to other people. Not to you.
“I can’t.” He murmured, his breath hitching. “I have to finish this.”
“Aaron.” You gave him a worried look. “What can I do to help?”
“I… need to just be alone right now.” He said, stepping forward.
“Aaron, please. Talk to me.” You begged.
“Love,” you felt your back pressed against the door, his hand pressed against it next to your head as he looked deep into your eyes. “Please… just go.”
You held in your emotions and the knot that was slowly forming in your stomach as you stared into his eyes before walking out of the bedroom. You grabbed your keys and walked out the front door, feeling your heart break into pieces as you entered your car. You tried to understand him today because you knew that it was a hard day for him, but you wished you could just do something. You wished you could take all of his pain away. You just wanted to be there for him.
You wanted to make him feel better.
But instead, he was closing himself off.
You drove around the neighborhood for a little while, hoping to clear your mind until you had to go and pick up the cake for him from the store. It wasn’t the end of the day yet. You still had time to make things better. To make this birthday of his more special than the ones he had before.
“How does this look, miss?” One of the workers from the bakery carried the cake and showed it to you.
You smiled slightly and stared at the cake. It had white frosting and a writing that said, “Happy Birthday, Aaron!” in red icing. You nodded your head at the lady as she gave you a smile back before packing the cake in a box. Walking out of the store, the sun was slowly setting in the horizon. It had been an hour since you left the house, and you could feel yourself starting to feel a little hungry.
You just hoped Aaron was okay.
Entering the house, it was quiet. The lights from the kitchen illuminated the hall, and you saw his office door was still closed. Setting the cake inside the fridge, you went into the bedroom and changed into the dress that you bought that you thought he would love seeing you wear. Then, a sudden crash coming from his office caught your attention.
“Aaron?” You ran towards his office and knocked on the door.
As soon as you opened the door, you were greeted by documents scattered all over the floor. The office was a mess, and you saw him lean his back against the wall in the corner and slid his body down on the floor. He was breathing heavily as he pulled his knees closed to his chest. You slowly walked towards him, sitting next to him on the floor with worried eyes.
“You… left.” Aaron breathed heavily.
“I just needed to pick up something.” You studied his facial features. “Aaron, talk to me, please.”
Aaron rested his head back against the wall and closed his eyes, exhaling a sharp breath. You waited until he was ready to talk. He carefully opened his eyes and hung his head low.
“My father…” He murmured. “He always thought I was weak. He would do… things to make sure I become stronger.”
You felt your heart swell for him. It wasn’t things that Anderson did. It was whipping him to “punish” him for being so weak. As time went on, you kept thinking about it, and you wondered if Anderson did it to entertain himself too because that psychopathic man loved seeing his son suffer.
The thought of it made your body tremble in anger.
“When he died, I felt so guilty and feeling that guilt made me feel disgusted of myself for feeling that way for a psychopath.” Aaron shook his head and stared at the empty nothingness in front of him. “It made me feel even more weak. Maybe he was right.”
You caressed his forearm softly as you shook your head. “You’re a human being. No matter how terrible he was, he was still your father. Just because you felt that way doesn’t mean that you’re weak. It just means you’re human and have emotions.”
“I didn’t want to feel anything for that vile and psychotic man. I don’t ever want to end up like him.”
“You’re not, and you won’t.” You reassured him. “You are more than him. You’re better than him and realizing that just proves even more that you’re so much better than your father.”
You moved closer to him, intertwining your fingers with his. “You’re so strong, so smart, and you carry me. You’re always there for me, and I know it’s difficult for you to open up to others, but I know that deep inside of you, you care for them. I know it.”
“I kept… seeing him today. Every corner of this office.” He shook his head. “It was like he was hovering and whispering in my ear.”
Now, you understood who he was talking to today. It was almost like Anderson’s ghost was haunting him, but you knew it was just all the emotions and anxiety that was triggering inside him.
“I’ve been trying to prove him wrong and with his whispers echoing in my mind all day… I…” He hung his head low again and shook his head. “It made me push you away.”
You held in the tears that started welling up in your eyes. “All the things he told you were lies. You’re not weak. You’re the strongest man I know. You have been a better man than your father ever was.”
Aaron gave you a faint smile as he caressed your cheek with his thumb. He leaned in close, his green eyes finding yours before pressing his soft lips onto yours.
“I love you.” He whispered through the kiss.
Parting from the kiss, you gave him a smile. “I love you.”
Getting up from the floor, you gently tugged on his hand. “C’mon. I have something for you.”
You helped Aaron get up from the floor, his hand letting go of yours for a moment as he ran his fingers through his hair. He let out a deep sigh and turned to face you. Before you could walk away, he pulled you in his arms for a moment, one arm around your waist and one hand cupping your face. Suddenly, you saw that sparkle in his eyes come back alive again. You couldn’t help but smile that the Aaron that you always have known was back. The real Aaron that you knew.
“Thank you.” He whispered, kissing your forehead.
Wrapping your arms around his waist, you enjoyed this moment for a minute. You closed your eyes letting your nose grazed over his softly as you smiled. You could feel his breath tremble as he cupped your face with both of his hands. Aaron gently kissed you on the lips, showing you all his love for you. As you parted, you gave him a small grin and intertwined your fingers with his, walking out of the office.
“Stay there.” You smiled, leaving him by the doorway of the dining room.
“What’s going on, love—” Aaron’s eyes scanned the dining room.
The table was filled with his favorite foods, and the room was decorated with balloons and a banner that said Happy Birthday was taped on the wall. He couldn’t help but smile as he waited for you. After a few minutes, the lights in the dining room went out as he looked around, searching for you.
“Love?” He murmured.
Then, you came out carrying the cake you bought with candles lit up on top of it. You smiled as you walked towards him, and Aaron’s face was washed over with different mixed emotions. You could see the unshed tears in his eyes as he stared at you lovingly.
“You didn’t have to do all of this, love.” He said.
“I want this to be special.” You moved closer to him. “Make a wish and blow your candles.”
Aaron closed his eyes, a smile tugging on his lips before he opened his eyes and blew the candles. You smiled brightly as he grabbed the cake from your hands and set it down on the table. Pulling you in his arms, he brushed your cheek softly with his thumb.
“You’re amazing.” He murmured.
“Happy Birthday.” You whispered. “This is a promise to you that from now on, I want to make sure that you would forget all your horrible past birthdays. Today is the day we’re going to start making new, fresh, good memories of them.”
Pulling your body against his, Aaron smiled and kissed you deeply, running his fingers through your hair. You hoped that this birthday would be the first of many good birthdays to come because he deserved it.
He deserved all of it.
The End.

part one - part two - part three - part four - part five
You fluttered your eyes open and slowly adjusted your vision. You heard the soft patter of the rain outside and watched the raindrops slide down the window. The blue hue that blanketed outside meant the day was slowly starting. Your eyes shifted at the clock on the bedside table and saw that it was 5am. You knew you had to go. You were already an hour late, and Kenji was probably worrying about you already. Worse, he was probably irritated over the fact that you were late again.
However, you didn’t want to move. You didn’t want to go anywhere else. You just wanted to stay here. You and Warner had a long night last night, looking through all the documents again and still found nothing. It was the same every night. Just no evidence at all. Sometimes you both felt like giving up, but you both knew there was a missing piece of the puzzle that you both couldn’t seem to find.
Feeling the bed move, you felt Warner’s arm wrapped around your waist and pulled you close to his body. Your back pressed against his chest, and a soft approving hum escaped his lips as he buried his face on your hair. You looked over your shoulder and smiled before softly rubbing his arm that was around you.
He was warm and his skin was soft.
It made you feel safe.
“I have to go.” You whispered.
You felt Warner’s arm tightened around you. You chuckled softly and turned your body around to face him. He only pulled you closer in his arms. Your index finger softly poked his nose, and he gave you a sleepy sleepy smile. His eyes were still closed as you studied his facial features in front of you.
Beautiful. You couldn’t help but think.
So beautiful.
“Kenji is going to be furious.” You added.
Warner exhaled a deep breath before opening his eyes slowly. His green eyes stared at you as you tried poking his nose again. He tried to bite your finger, but you pulled it away just in time, making you giggle softly.
“You’re always worrying about Kenji, love.” His voice was tired and husky.
“He always covers for me and if Castle and my parents ever find out where I am, I don’t want him getting in trouble.”
Warner didn’t say a word as he pulled you in his arms tighter, your face pressed against his chest, and he tucked your head under his chin.
“Stay for a little longer.” Warner murmured.
If it was up to you, you would stay here forever with him. You didn’t know exactly what kind of relationship this was between the two of you but the more you spent time with him, you knew you were falling for him even more. You didn’t know what Warner felt about you. You couldn’t help but wonder if this was just a physical relationship to him. You wondered if he ever decided that he was tired of you, he would just leave. The thought of him leaving you made a knot in your stomach as you reminded yourself to not give in to your emotions. You knew falling for him would break you into a million pieces, and you already have risked a lot by sneaking out every night with him.
But it was worth it, right?
As the question lingered in your mind, you realized you didn’t even know the real answer to that question. This could just be a physical thing and you were risking everything just for a little summer hook up? Slightly pulling away from him, you gave him a small smile, pressed a soft kiss on his cheek before sliding yourself away from his arms. You picked up your clothes from the floor and put them on and when you turned around, you saw Warner watching you the whole time. A small smile tugging on his lips.
“What?” You asked.
Warner got up from the bed, put on his pants and walked around the bed before wrapping his arms around your waist. His emerald eyes studied you carefully. You felt the blood rushed to your cheeks as he studied each of your features and his hand cupped your cheek, his thumb brushing your skin gently.
“I can’t get over how stunning you are.” Warner whispered.
You felt your limbs almost giving out, the wind almost knocking out the oxygen in your lungs as you wrapped your arms around his waist. A whine caught in Warner’s throat as you left kisses on his bare chest. You looked up at him with half lidded eyes as he closed his green ones. You could feel the heat radiating between the two of you, and you couldn’t help but wonder just for a moment…
One moment.
Maybe all of this was worth it.
“Please…” Warner breathed heavily, his eyes fluttering open so carefully. “Don’t leave so soon.”
“I have to.” You finally pulled away but Warner pulled you back in his arms, his face nuzzling your neck.
“Okay, but I’ll see you tonight?” He murmured.
“Of course.” You grinned before finally pulling away completely from his arms.
You felt the hole in your chest as soon as you left the cabin. Warner’s absence made you feel empty. He was like a missing piece of puzzle in your life that you couldn’t seem to understand. He fits perfectly but somehow, whenever he wasn’t around, you felt that hollow emptiness inside of you.
As you carefully walked back to the base and shook out the thoughts from your mind, you held your knife tightly in your hand, ready to attack just in case. The walk back to the base was always hard, you could always feel yourself getting anxious that you might get caught but so far, you were okay.
You hoped.
“You know, one of these days, I don’t know what I’ll have to tell them.” Kenji said as soon as you arrived back at the base.
“It’s fine, Kenji. I will take the blame, I promise.” You said, entering your room. “I won’t let them get you in trouble for my mistakes.”
You sighed and flopped yourself at the edge of the bed. Kenji closed the door behind him and saw the melancholy in your eyes. He walked up and sat next to you. For a moment, there was a comfortable silence in the room and then you sighed and laid on your back, staring at the ceiling.
“What happened?” Kenji asked.
“Am I insane?” You asked, running your hands through your long hair. “I know this all started because I want to make sure Omega Point takes down The Reestablishment but how come…”
You shook your head, a heavy breath escaping from you. You closed your eyes and Kenji looked over his shoulder and studied your expression. Kenji technically didn’t really understand your feelings towards Warner. He didn’t understand why you would sneak out every night to see him even if you had mentioned that what you and Warner have was just a physical relationship. That you both probably just got too lonely in that cabin.
“You love him.” Kenji muttered.
Those three little words made your body stiff. You couldn’t move, your cheeks flushed as you stared at the ceiling. It was just a simple three little words, so how come it was making you feel like this? How could those three little words inject so much emotion through your veins? It was almost like a drug that made your head spin. The thought of Warner made everything spin.
“What?” You were finally able to move your body as you sat up. “No, I don’t.”
Kenji tilted his head and raised his brow at you. He wasn’t stupid. He was your best friend, and you have known him for years. He could tell when you were lying. You may be saying that, but your eyes were saying something else.
“If you say so, Princess. I, too, would be risking everything for someone that I’m not in love with.” A hint of sarcasm was in his voice.
Your face flushed even more. You bit your lower lip and sighed, laying on your bed again and grabbed your pillow, burying your face on it. Kenji chuckled softly and patted your knee before getting up.
“C’mon, Princess. We have lots to do today.” Kenji said.
“I’ll be there in a sec.” You murmured through your pillow.
“Okay, well, hurry up before Castle thinks there’s something wrong.”
You heard your door open and closed as Kenji walked out of your room, leaving you in your own thoughts. After a few minutes, you finally got up, changed into some fresh training clothes and met Kenji at the training room. The two of you had been training to fight. Castle had suggested for you two to learn just in case it would be needed in the future. That whole idea got your mind pinwheeling again, wondering if Castle and your parents knew something that they weren’t telling everyone else. You even noticed that Sonya and Sara had been spending too much time in their laboratory. You wonder what kind of medicine the twins have been trying to prepare for all of you.
“Do you know what’s going on?” You asked Kenji later that day.
“What do you mean?” Kenji was lifting some weights as you stood on the corner, watching him.
You were taking a break after finishing cardio, and you were sort of feeling lazy to do weights today. Setting the weight down, Kenji sat up and took a big gulp of his water and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
“You know…” You shrugged. “What Castle and my parents are planning. I mean… It’s sort of obvious there’s something. You and me training? The twins stuck in their lab? They must be creating some type of medicine for everyone.”
“Sonya and Sara are always trying to create some type of medicine.” Kenji said, nonchalant.
“But no, Princess. Castle hasn’t told me anything. What about you and Warner? Besides the constant sex…anything?”
You threw your towel at him and rolled your eyes so hard, it almost fell off your head. “No, he can’t find a real record of why those kids are disappearing. There’s one thing though… they’re put in some kind of asylum? Some kind of prison?”
“Where’s the prison?”
You tilted your head, giving him a glare. “You really think I would withhold that information from you if I knew?”
“Maybe Warner knows.”
“No, he doesn’t.” You answered that too quickly and confidently.
A playful smile tugged on Kenji’s face as he started lifting weights again. You sat on the mat and sighed, your head hung low as you played with your fingers. You couldn’t get the thought of Warner out of your mind. You kept asking many questions that you didn’t have the answers to.
“You know, Princess.” Kenji said, sitting up again. “Sometimes it’s better not to overthink too much. You will make yourself crazy.”
“Yeah.” That was all you could manage before getting up from the mat and started weight lifting with Kenji.
The rest of the day was slow. You had taken a nap right after training. You were so exhausted that Kenji had to come knocking on your door to wake you up when it was time for dinner. However, you couldn’t manage to get up from your bed and eat dinner with everyone else. You couldn’t seem to face everyone and act like you haven’t been sneaking out every night and seeing Warner—the one person they probably thought was their number one enemy. You couldn’t face them and act like you haven’t been fucking their enemy.
You knew they would never understand.
So, you sneaked out of the base a little early. Kenji was going to be furious at you, but you needed to get out of there. Sometimes it felt suffocating just to be stuck at the base doing training and preparing to take down The Reestablishment. Sometimes you just need a different environment.
Your hand was in your jacket pocket as you walked towards the forest. You held the knife tightly inside your pocket, prepared for anything that could come up behind you. As you gazed up at the sky, you noticed that you could actually see the moon tonight. Sometimes the sky was so cloudy or was covered with a thick fog that you could barely see it.
Tonight though, it was bright and big.
You couldn’t help but stand on the front porch of the cabin and stared at it for a moment. It was a reminder that this world used to be so beautiful, so enchanting. Now, it was all left in ruins, and it was just the moon that was left that could remind you that there was still so much out there. So much you didn’t know and haven't seen. You wondered if anyone out there was looking at it too and thinking about the same thing. You wondered if people out there missed how this world used to be.
Were you ever going to see the other continents out there? Were they suffering the same as everyone was here in Sector 45 and North America? Was this going to be forever? How will Castle and your parents manage to rebuild everything if they were successful with their plan?
“Hey, love.”
Your thoughts were interrupted when you heard the cabin door creaked and opened. Looking over your shoulder was Warner standing in front of you, his hand held out for you. You couldn’t understand how he managed to look so beautiful all the time even with just the light inside the cabin illuminating from behind him. Every time you looked at him, he was so gorgeous. So beautiful. You couldn’t find the right words to really describe him because there were moments where you wonder if he was even real.
The heavy feeling that you were feeling in your stomach immediately faded as your hand touched his. He always managed to make your insides calm and peaceful. Just one touch. One kiss. All your fears would perish.
“What are you doing out here, love? It’s dangerous.” Warner whispered, pulling you into the cabin.
“I was admiring the moon.” You said. “We barely see it these days.”
You didn’t notice it then when you were outside because it was so dark but now that the soft light from the lamps that illuminated the cabin surrounded you, you noticed something in Warner’s eyes.
Fear.
“What is it?” You asked.
“I think my father is hiding something from me… besides the missing children.” Warner heavily sighed, walking closer to you.
“Why do you think that?”
“I mean, I’m not surprised that he is hiding something, but it’s the thought of him knowing about you.”
Warner’s concern for you made your heart swell a little bit. You saw the terror in his eyes as he gently brushed your hair away from your shoulder before cupping your face in his hands. His eyes stared deep into yours, his face inches away. Suddenly, the clock stopped. Your pulse was wild. Butterflies invaded your veins as he gently brushed his thumb on your cheek. You kept reminding yourself that this was just a physical relationship but how come, it felt like it was something else?
Something more.
“I’m—I’m fine.” You tried to find your voice. “I’m okay.”
“You don’t know the capability my father has,” Warner said. “If… he takes you away from me…”
He shook his head repeatedly, his eyes closing like he was in pain. Like he could feel the pain in his core from the image of you being taken away from him.
“Warner, I’m okay. I promise.” You reassured him. “No one followed me here.”
“I know, love.” He murmured.  "I know you're always careful."
You reached your hand to touch his cheek gently, his face leaning against your touch. His chest was heaving as he pulled you in his arms for a tight embrace. You have never seen Warner like this before. The terror in his eyes and the way he held you. It was almost like if he would let you go right now, he would lose you forever, and you didn’t like that. You didn’t like how he was this terrified because you were okay.
Everything was fine.
You didn’t want him to worry about you at all.
“Do you want to go see the moon?” You asked, trying to make the subject lighter. Your cheek was pressed against his chest, and your arms were wrapped around his waist tightly.
“It’s gorgeous tonight.” You added, lifting your head up to look at him.
A soft approval hum escaped him as he buried his face on your neck, a soft kiss planted on your skin. His hands gripped your hips tightly, pressing your body against his. Then, his hand slipped under your shirt, caressing your sides softly and feeling your heated skin under his touch.
“Lift your arms up.” He whispered in your ear, kissing the line of your jaw.
You did what he told you to do as he pulled your shirt over your head and found its home on the wooden floor of the cabin. His hands roamed your body from your sides to your back and then, he found the hook of your bra.
“Take it off.” You whispered, kissing him deeply.
And just like that, your bra had joined your shirt on the floor. Your fingers fumbled on the buttons of his shirt and slipped them off his broad shoulders. Your hands studied every inch of his heated skin, sliding them on his chest, down the curves and valleys of his muscles on his stomach and then, you slid them on his back. You felt him slightly flinch under your touch, and you immediately pulled away.
“Sorry.” You breathlessly pulled away from the kiss.
Warner shook his head, gazing down at you. His eyes were dark and full of desire.
“Don’t apologize.” He said. “I’m just not used to it. I… I want you to be able to touch me with no limits.”
“I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable.”
“You could never.” He murmured before pulling you in his arms again.
This time, he scooped you up and carried you towards the back door of the cabin. There, the moon illuminated the lake, and it looked so magical. Almost too unreal that the water was still fresh and untouched unlike the rest of the world around you. Warner smiled, setting you down in the water, making you shiver slightly from the cold soft breeze that was hitting your skin. Under the moonlight, Warner’s eyes glimmered. It made him even more beautiful through your eyes.
“I have never felt this much peace before.” Warner said, his hands finding your waist. “You’re the only one that understands me. I know I’m someone who really doesn’t know how to communicate well but with you, I feel… different.”
“Warner.” You whispered, your hands sliding up his chest.
“No,” He said. “It’s Aaron. I want you to call me by my name.”
“Aaron.” You whispered.
A smile lit up his face, dimples indenting his cheeks as he brushed your hair back, leaning down to press a soft kiss on the blade of your shoulder. You breathlessly gasp as you slide your hand at the back of his neck, pulling him close to you. Feeling his skin with yours was the kind of connection that you never had before. It made you feel closer to him.
“I love that.” He said.
Then, his green eyes went soft. His eyes studied your features, his whole expression turned into something so peaceful. You have never seen it before as he cupped your face between his hands. You gazed up at him, feeling your heart beating right out of your chest. There was something about the look on his face that made you nervous. Made you forget about the world around you and made you forget the running thoughts that have been occupying your mind lately.
“I love you.” He whispered, his voice full of emotion.
You heard yourself let out a gasp. Your limbs were petrified, and you couldn’t move an inch. Warner—Aaron just told you he loved you. You had to blink your eyes a few times to make sure that you weren’t dreaming. That you heard him correctly. You didn’t know how long you were paralyzed like that until you had noticed his soft eyes turned into worried ones.
“Love?” He murmured, brushing your cheek with his fingers.
“Aaron, I—”
“I mean it, love.” He breathed heavily, his whole face was full of emotion for you.
Then, he said the words again, carefully and word by word. “I love you.”
When you were finally able to feel your muscles move, you pulled away from him. You found everything so dizzying. It was happening so fast that you could barely find your footing as soon as you found yourself back on the rocky ground. Grabbing the towel, you wrapped it around your body as Aaron followed right behind you. Your back was turned to him, and you stared up at the night sky, holding in your tears that were welling up in your eyes. This was something you have been thinking about. Something that you wanted, but you were also too terrified that this was not going to work out.
Everything was too complicated.
Too dangerous.
“Love, I could feel your emotions towards me.” He said, carefully taking your hand in his and turning you to face him.
You could barely find time to get some air in your lungs when Aaron held you in his arms again. Every part of you was slowly cracking into pieces. You couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t adjust your vision clearly, and you wondered if this was it. You wondered if you were slowly dying, and if this was what it felt like to die. You stood in front of Aaron, you felt his embrace in yours, but your soul was suspended in the air. You were looking down at this moment from above, and you kept telling yourself to move.
To say something.
Anything.
You told yourself to go back down into your body.
“Aaron,” You finally were able to manage to find your voice.
“I know how you feel about me. How much you love and want me. I could feel that in every bone of my body, love. I could feel everything that you feel about me. Your fears, your love for me… The way you want me like the way I want you too.”
Your heart has fallen to the ground.
You couldn’t find the bandwidth to take in anymore of his words because if you heard one more word from him, you were sure you would completely break into pieces. You would collapse right here in front of him. Aaron took a step back from you, both his hands rubbing both of your arms softly. He could feel your body shiver from under his touch.
“Let’s go inside. You’re cold, love.” He said, wrapping his arm around you.
As soon as you arrived back inside, you picked up your clothes and slipped them on. Aaron slipped on his pants before wrapping a blanket around your shoulders to keep you warm. He could see you shivering from the cold, and you weren’t really sure if it was because of the cold or because of what just happened.
“Love—”
You shook your head, holding up one hand to stop him from continuing. You stood there and stared at him for a moment. He was in his grey sweatpants, no shirt on, and his eyes were staring into yours. Your lips trembled as you played with your fingers nervously. You could see the hesitation in Aaron’s eyes as he slowly and carefully took a step towards you.
“I… thought…” Aaron murmured. “...we have something.”
“We do.” You answered him too quickly. “Do you know how long I have been dreaming of this moment?”
You saw Aaron’s tensed shoulders dropped, his jaw unclenching as he crossed the room and cupped your face. His eyes were full of different emotions and as you whispered his name, he kissed you so softly. So soft and gentle and at the same time, it was desperate and hungry. You have been wanting this. You have been dreaming of this, and it was here. It was happening in front of your eyes. It was happening so fast, and everything was spinning.
Your legs were almost giving out, but Aaron was quick to catch you in his arms and pinned you against the wall. You couldn’t remember when the blanket had found its way to the floor, but you didn’t care. You only cared about this moment. A breathless gasp escaped from him as he parted from the kiss, pressed his forehead against yours and smiled.
“Aaron, I’m scared.” You whispered. “I’m so scared.”
“I’ll protect you with my life, love.” He pressed a soft kiss on your forehead.
“I can handle myself, you know?”
Aaron’s smile grew wider, his fingers softly stroking your cheek. “I know that. I know how strong you are, and I know how smart you are but that doesn’t mean I won’t do everything to make sure you’re safe.”
You exhaled a sharp breath, your arms wrapping around his neck. “We’re gonna die.”
“Let all hell break loose then.” He said before pressing your body against his and kissed you deeply.
You ran your fingers through his golden hair as Aaron tugged on your shirt lightly. Pulling it over your head, he pressed soft kisses on your neck. You threw your head back against the wall, closing your eyes as you felt your skin caught on fire from every spot that he kissed. A moan was caught in your throat as Aaron smiled through the kiss and trailed his lips down your collarbone. Your hands gripped his shoulders tightly as he slipped his hands under your thighs and lifted you up, your legs wrapping around his hips.
“God,” He whispered. “You’re so beautiful. So gorgeous.”
You felt your cheeks flushed as Aaron carried you towards the bedroom and set you down gently on the bed. He used his inner thigh to part your legs and set his knee between them, towering over you and leaning down to kiss you passionately. You could feel the heat that was washing over his body as you let your hands roam on his bare skin. Your lips were caught on his jawline and down his neck as Aaron breathed heavily, his fingers tangled through your hair. He pulled you close as you continued to kiss down his bare chest, your hands softly roaming the sharp muscles of his arms.
“Aaron…” You whispered, pulling away. “I love you.”
Something sparkled in Aaron’s eyes as soon as he heard those words from your lips. His hand slipped at the back of your head and kissed you deeply.
A soft moan escaped from you, and you felt his fingers tugging on your pants.
“Please… take them off.” You begged.
In one smooth motion, Aaron’s hands found the waistband of your pants and immediately pulled them down together with your underwear. You have been naked in front of him many times. Almost every night. But this time, it felt different. Like this was the first time you were intimate with him in a different way. Back then, you could care less how you would look in front of him but this time, you didn’t know why, but you sort of felt insecure. As if he was seeing the real you for the first time.
You felt your cheeks flushed along with the rest of your body as Aaron’s eyes studied every inch of you. It made you feel vulnerable, and you carefully covered your chest with your arms, looking away from him.
“Hey,” He smiled, gently taking your arms away from your chest. “Don’t hide from me, love. You’re so beautiful.”
You gazed up at him with half lidded eyes before you felt his lips kiss your chest. You bit your lower lip as he squeezed your breast softly with his hand, his mouth sucking on the other one that made you moan loudly. Your fingers had found his hair again as you arched your back, while his lips trailed down your stomach. Soft and gentle kisses covered your skin, his hands gently sliding down your sides before Aaron stopped right at the bottom of your torso. You were breathing heavily, and he could see your chest heaving when he looked up at you. One hand clutching the bedsheet in a fist, while the other in his hair.
“Aaron…” You whispered his name, and it made his eyes go darker with desire.
“Yes, love?”
“I… need you.” You opened your eyes and found him towering over you again.
A smile tugged on his lips as you flipped both of you over and you straddled his hips. He still had his pants on, and you couldn’t help but wonder how it was so unfair that you were completely naked in front of him already and there was this piece of fabric blocking you from touching him skin to skin. You tugged down on his pants and threw them on the floor with the rest of your clothes. You left heated kisses on his chest, your hands touching every inch of his body. Every curve and hills of his muscles. You kissed the tattoo that sat right on the bottom of his torso.
You kissed every word, every letter of it.
Every pain that he suffered through his life. Every dark thought. You wanted to kiss away all of it.
Your lips trailed down and kissed his inner thigh and smiled when you heard Aaron moaned softly from your touch.
“Come here.” He whispered, pulling you up and pressed your naked body against his.
He flipped the both of you over again, hovered over you, leaving heated kisses down your body and parted your legs before kissing your inner thighs. You gasped softly as his fingers found your wet clit and gently played with it.
“Aaron—” You whined, arching your back.
He moaned softly, kissing your other thigh before his mouth found you. You bit your lower lip to keep yourself from screaming his name as he licked and sucked you on the right spot that made your legs tremble. Aaron trailed his lips back up to your body before kissing you again, tasting yourself in his lips. His hands slipped under your thighs, letting your legs wrap around his hips. He trailed kisses down your neck and sucked on your skin lightly.
You breathlessly gasp at each kiss he left as you gripped on his shoulders.
“Aaron, please….”
“Tell me, love.” He whispered in your ear, kissing the spot just below it. “Tell me what you want me to do.”
“You… I need you inside me.” You lifted his head, cupping his face in your hands.
His green eyes were full of want and desire. He set both his elbows on either side of your head and smiled softly at you. You have never seen him like this before even after the many nights you have spent with him in this bed. Tonight was different. Tonight, he was showing you every vulnerable part of him. Tonight, this man in front of you was different.
This was Aaron Warner.
The real Aaron Warner.
The one who has been hiding behind a cold façade. The one who suffered from his father’s violent behavior.
The one that loves you.
Taking his member, he carefully slipped himself inside of you, soft gasps escaped from the both of you. He slowly thrusted and kissed you deeply, your moans being muffled by his kiss. He buried his face on your neck as he continued to move, and his thrusts started to quicken. Your hands gripped tightly on his shoulders, nails digging into his skin.
You wonder if this was a good way to die.
This moment where everything was just you and him. This moment where you could drown in forever.
You wonder if you were now in heaven.
Because everything stopped. Everything was now all hazy as you felt him move deeper inside of you. You were feeling all the emotions that you haven’t felt before. You heard yourself make sounds that you haven’t heard before. You could barely open your eyelids as you pressed your forehead against the blade of his shoulder.
“God, Aaron.” You moaned loudly, and it only made him thrusts deeper and faster inside of you, hitting you at the right spot.
“Yes, yes—!” You whispered through his fiery skin.
Aaron groaned softly, his mouth finding your breast again as he sucked and licked on it and kept his thrusts at a pace. You arched your back, your eyes closing, and your head started spinning. You have forgotten everything around you. You have forgotten where you were or who you were. You have forgotten your name. All you knew was this.
This moment right here.
You felt your walls tightened around Aaron, feeling the pleasure building up inside of you. He reached up to you, kissing you deeply as he hit you on the right spot once more. His kiss muffled your screams. He moaned your name in your ear, feeling your walls tightened around him. Pleasure washing over the both of you.
Everything shattered into pieces. Everything unraveling, coming undone and coming together at the same time. Stars were twinkling in your vision as he kissed you once more and slowed his thrusts inside of you. Both of your bodies flushed and both of you were panting heavily. Your face pressed on his neck and your nails were still digging on his shoulders. You could feel your legs trembling as you slowly unwrapped them from his hips.
“I love you so much.” He whispered breathlessly.
He pressed a soft kiss on your forehead, while you closed your eyes and enjoyed this peaceful moment with him. This was something you never thought you would ever have in your life. After everything that happened in this world, you never thought that someone could love you. Someone could care about you. You never thought you would experience love in this dark and shattered world. He gazed down at you, carefully pulling himself out. His absence inside of you already made you miss him.
“I never knew what life was like until you.” Aaron murmured, fingers brushing your cheek.
Then, he brushed a strand of hair away from your sweaty forehead, still trying to catch his breath. You could see his face and body were all pink and flushed.
“You gave me a reason to keep going. To stay alive. A reason to fight something for.”
His voice cracked as he lightly grazed his nose against your cheek, breathing you in.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you turned and pressed a soft kiss on his lips before parting again. You knew about the struggles he has faced. The violent upbringing he had because of his father and hearing those words escape from his lips, you couldn’t help but feel all the emotions washed over you. You never wanted him to feel like that again. You never wanted him to experience that kind of violence again. You never wanted him to feel as if his life was nothing because to you?
He was everything.
Aaron furrowed his brows as soon as he saw the expression on your face.
“Hey, what’s wrong, love?” He asked, cupping your face, worry washed over him. “Are you hurt? Did I hurt you?”
You shook your head as you took his face in your hands. You couldn’t really say anything. You couldn’t manage to find the right words as a tear rolled down your cheek. Aaron’s thumb gently brushed the tear away, his eyes still full of concern.
“You gotta tell me what’s wrong, love. I need to know if you’re hurt or not—”
“I—I’m not.” Your voice croaked.
You saw the muscles in Aaron’s body unclenched as he blinked his eyes for a moment. He settled himself next to you, pulling the covers over the both of you and reeled you in his arms.
“What is it, love? What’s on your mind?” He asked, his voice was almost a whisper, you barely missed it.
Your heart was still pounding hard in your chest, you could hear it drumming in your eyes as you let your nose softly grazed on the line of his jaw. Aaron’s one arm was around you, his hand softly rubbing your arm. You set a hand over his chest, just right above where his heart was, and you could feel it beating hard.
And you kept thinking that it was beating hard for you.
“Everything you went through…” You breathed him in, pressing your face on his neck. “You deserve so much more.”
You felt Aaron pulled you tighter in his arms. He didn’t say a word for about a minute before he set his index finger under your chin, lifted your head and gazed down at you.
“You’re the only one I care about now.” He whispered. “I’ll do anything to protect you. To be with you.”
Pulling him in, you kissed him deeply. Aaron cupped your face as he smiled through the kiss. At this moment, you didn’t want to think about anything else. You reminded yourself that you also deserved to be happy. You just wanted to enjoy this peaceful moment with him. This happy bubble that surrounded the both of you. You knew this was a breakable heaven, but with Aaron, you’d fight for anyone and anything now.
You’d fight to keep this.
You’d fight, not just for him, but for your friends and family too.
You’d fight for love.

“I’m sorry.”
You murmured, your hands trembled in fear.
“I don’t understand why you just couldn’t listen.” His voice sounded frustrated, angry.
Your heart was beating out of your chest, you closed your hands into a fist to stop your hands from trembling. You didn’t know what to do or what to say in order for you to make this situation better. It wasn’t like you were doing anything wrong because you weren’t. All you did was hang out with your best friend, Kenji. That was all but how come he couldn’t believe that? How come he had to be so jealous all the time? He didn’t like the idea of your best friend being a guy, but Kenji had been there for you through all of it. You could never drop your best friend just like that just for you to make him happy.
“We were just talking. We hung out by the beach, that’s all.” You explained.
You watched as he shook his head in disappointment. “I told you not to hang out with him anymore.”
“He’s my best friend, babe.” You argued. “I can’t just drop him like that.”
“Oh, so you choose him over me? Do you even love me?” He raised his brow at you as you stood there and couldn’t find the words to say.
You couldn’t answer his question because you were exhausted from the same thing over and over again. You were exhausted from being gaslit and feeling guilty over the things that you love to do. He told you he loved you but how come this was how he treated you? How come you couldn’t seem to do the things you want? You felt trapped as you choked in your own tears. You wanted to leave this relationship, but you were too terrified. You were terrified that if you ever told him that it was over, he would lash out, and you would be the collateral damage.
“Y…Yes.” You told him.
However, you knew it was a lie.
You just couldn’t bear to see him anymore upset about it. You were terrified of what he might do if you told him the truth. You were so mentally tired of trying to reassure him everyday. You were mentally tired of following all his rules. His rules of you not being able to wear something that showed your skin. Rules of you not being able to wear your makeup and hang out with your friends. He wanted your world to revolve around him, but you were your own person too. You had your own life too.
“Do you?” He asked, not believing your words. “You don’t even touch me anymore. You don’t let me touch you.”
“I… I’m just tired from work, babe.” You held in the tears that were welling up in your eyes.
“It’s the same excuse.”
It was the same excuse because the truth was you couldn’t keep drowning like this anymore. You couldn’t let him touch you anymore because you were just done. You wanted to get away from him. You wanted out, but you were terrified.
“I… I’m sorry.” Your words stuttered as he walked towards you.
You took a step back until your back met the wall. Your limbs were paralyzed. You were trapped. You have nowhere to go. His face was inches from yours, his hand found your chin as he cupped it, lifting your head to look at him. Your eyes were full of unshed tears as his lips met your jawline. You closed your eyes, letting the tears roll down your cheeks.
This was hell on Earth, and you were living it everyday.
His kisses were rough and desperate. He held you like he owned you. Like he would never let anyone touch you or look at you because you were only his. Your heart was beating a thousand miles, and your body was numb. Your mind had blanked out. Slowly, you felt yourself fade away from your body as his hands found your hips and pressed your body against him.
“You’re only mine.” He whispered in your ear.
His hands took yours and pinned them against the wall above your head.
“Say you love me.” He whispered in your ear as tears rolled down your cheeks. “Say it.”
“I… I love you.” You said.
You just wanted to die as his lips met the skin of your neck. Tears streamed down your face as he tugged on your shirt and pulled them over your head. His hands burned your bare skin as his lips trailed down your chest.
It made you hate yourself.
It made you question yourself as to why you were still here. As to why you had to endure this kind of hell. It made you question what you did for you to deserve all of this?
Beads of sweat covered your face as you screamed and sat up on the bed.
“No!” You screamed breathlessly.
It was dark, and your vision was still adjusting from the darkness of the room. Your chest was heaving as you tried to catch your breath. Your body trembled from the memory, pulling the covers close to your chest and sobbed. Then, you felt the bed move and the lights turned on, illuminating the whole room. Aaron immediately was next to you. He looked sleepy, but his green eyes were full of worry.
“Hey, hey.” He cupped your face in his hands, wiping the tears that were streaming down your face.
“It’s just a nightmare, love.” He whispered as you immediately clung onto him, sobbing on his shoulder.
You repeatedly shook your head as you buried your face on his shoulder. Aaron rubbed your back softly as he pulled you on his lap. His cheek pressed against the top of your head.
“Shh…” He cooed. “Do you want to talk about it?”
You didn’t say a word for a while. You didn’t move in his arms until your tears had run dry. Aaron hated seeing you like this. He hated the fact that you would sob in his arms almost every night, and he couldn’t do anything about it. Your nightmares had been terrorizing you since Aaron had known you, and he knew it was because of your toxic ex before him. He wasn’t jealous or anything. In fact, that was the farthest thing he was feeling every time that subject was brought up.
He knew all about it. He knew how he mentally and emotionally abused you to the point where you would give up everything to make him happy. That you lost yourself along the way just so he could be happy, but it was never enough. It never did with him and the thought of it made Aaron angry. If he had the chance to ever see him, Aaron wouldn’t know what to do because he knew it would be catastrophic for sure.
“It wasn’t just a nightmare.” You finally said. “It was real. It happened.”
Aaron felt the pain in his chest as soon as you said those words. Anger shot through his body as he felt your body shaking in his arms. He didn't know what happened in your dream but if it made you react like this, he knew it was bad. Not just bad. But something so unforgivable that you, yourself, couldn’t even let go of the trauma even now.
“What happened, love?” He asked, terrified of the answer that you might give him.
“H…He…” You shook your head and more tears streamed down your face.
From the way you couldn’t even tell him, Aaron knew then what it was. He was an insect. Someone so vile. Aaron couldn’t even find the right words to describe him because how could someone treat you like that? Someone like you? He never deserved your attention and love before. He never appreciated it. Aaron felt the anger washed over him again as he held you close to his chest. You could feel his chest heaving from anger as he tried to comfort you. You knew how much Aaron hated him by just the things you told him about what happened.
You reached for his hand and found them in a fist. As soon as he felt your touch, he unclenched them and intertwined them with yours.
“You don’t have to talk about it if it’s too much, love.” He murmured. “I’m here.”
You nodded your head and pulled away from him, your eyes were bloodshot red. Aaron could feel the pressure in his chest as he gazed down at you, his spare hand cupping your cheek. He brushed your cheek softly with his thumb and pressed a soft kiss on your forehead.
“I’m sorry if I’m such a mess.” You apologized. “I’m so sorry if I’m like this. You deserve someone better.”
“Hey.” Aaron gave you a small reassuring smile. “There’s nothing to apologize for, love. I love you the way you are. I love your mess and every part of you.”
“Please tell me if I ever do something that isn’t right, please.” You sobbed.
“No,” He shook his head, his green eyes staring at yours. “You are perfect the way you are, love. Don’t ever think that you are not enough.”
More tears rolled down your cheeks as you heard Aaron’s words to you. This kind of love was something you never experienced before. Someone who trusted you and believed in you. Being not enough for Aaron was one of your biggest fears, and you were always so terrified to do or say something that you might end up losing him. He was the only good in your life, and you were terrified to ruin all of this. However, Aaron had proved to you many times that he wasn’t like him. He wasn’t going to stop you from doing anything that made you happy.
“Hey, listen.” Aaron cupped your face with his hands, his green eyes deep into yours. “Whatever words that he planted in there,” His finger touched your temple softly. “Or right here…” His hand laid on top of your chest, just right above your heart. “...Is not true, you understand? You are more than what he had told you. You are intelligent, resilient and so beautiful.”
You nodded your head, wiping the remaining tears that were on your face. You felt your heart skip a beat for Aaron as you gave him a small smile. You reached your hand and cupped his face as Aaron leaned against your touch. You watched him close his eyes, but you could see something that was washing over his face.
“I’m sorry I woke you up.” You murmured.
“I just wish…” Aaron sighed, opening his eyes. “I just wish I could take your pain away. It kills me to know that I can’t do anything. That I can’t just erase all the things that you went through.”
“Being with you is enough.” You said. “I don’t want you feeling guilty about this. None of this is your fault.”
Aaron could feel your eyes through every part of him as you slowly pulled him close to you and kissed him softly. There was something about you that Aaron couldn’t explain. Something that always lit a fire in his soul every time you kissed him. Every time you touched him. How could someone treat you so irresponsibly before? Because to him, he would drop everything. He would watch the world burn just for you.
“I love you.” Aaron whispered as soon as he pulled away from the kiss. “Don’t ever let anyone tell you who you are because you’re perfect.”
“I love you too.” You felt a tear rolled down your cheeks.
This time, it wasn’t because of the nightmare. It was because you could feel Aaron’s love and understanding for you. The way he accepted who you were no matter what. Using his thumb, he brushed the tear away from your cheek and planted a soft kiss on your forehead.
“Come here.” He murmured.
He reached over behind you to fluff up your pillows and laid you gently back on the bed. Walking around the bed, he settled next to you, pulling the covers over the both of you and pulled you close to his chest.
A small yawned escape from you as he said, “Get some rest, love.”
“Please, stay.”
Aaron couldn’t help but smile. You clung onto him, and he could feel all your emotions towards him. He could feel how much you love him and want him. All your love was injecting in his veins, and he could feel every bit of it. It made his heart swell as he closed his eyes, his hand rubbing softly on your arm.
“I’m not going anywhere, love.”
The End.
