i grudgingly admit that buddy’s cake also looks good but i think this particular challenge is just highlighting how wildly different their styles are like if someone wants something super perfect and technical then they’re going to go with duff and if they want something big and fun then they’re going to go with buddy like it’s almost weird to compare at this point

If you want to do a blueberry pie without babysitting it on the stovetop, treat the filling like an apple pie. sugar to taste, salt to taste, some cinnamon, some vanilla, 2 Tbs or so of flour. Mix them all together and pour them into your pie shell of choice and then top with your crust, crumble, etc...of choice. Then you bake the pie for about the same amount of time as an apple pie 50 - 55 or so minutes. It won't be the level of technical difficulty Duff's trying to achieve here, but you won't have to worry about the blueberries' moisture. This works with pretty much any non-citrus fruit.

Now, it might bubble over a little because that's what fruit pies do, so if you put a cookie sheet under the pie pan or the shelf just under the pie pan, that will be less oven clean up later.

After such a shaky episode one in terms of tone and presentation choices, I'm really glad the second ep is much smoother, feels less professional wrestly, and so far is much more relaxed in tone, which makes for a better episode to me than episode one was
