Currently thinking about 18/19 year old Toph getting thrown in some random podunk fire nation town’s one-cell jail and being like “hey I’m broke as hell but I’ve got a friend who can bail me out can I make a call” and then 2 hours later Fire Lord Zuko himself slams open the door yelling “WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO THIS TIME YOU SHIT”

It’s both easy and hard to make headcanons for The Sexy Brutale. And this is where the fun comes from.
Spoilers for the game under the cut, so a warning here.
But first- holy crisp on a cracker, ‘Lafcadio’ and his mind are in a bad way. I hope gets help.
A lot of speculation is flowing into my headcanons due to the game’s nature.
Golden Skull is right in that he embellished and changed the events from 40 years ago. And in those many years memories can and do shift. But his obsession in reliving the same day over and over also points to that he remembered every detail he could, while those things are still from his perspective, of course. This includes the basic personalities of his friends.
I’ll start off with Lucas’ idea to hold an entire day of theater that covered the mansion’s entirety and involved all of the guests. This was something he actually considered to do, but never had the time to pull off.
The ghosts are based on staff members and other guests. A thief once pick-pocketed Aurum. An obnoxious and aggressive fan tried to harass Tequila. Willow might have gone after him with a chair, but he was definitely forever banned from the mansion; the house had a clear ‘no harassment’ policy. And Lucas did have that talk with one guest complaining in the library about the lack of ‘SMUT’. Lucas couldn’t believe he had that conversation.
Aurum liked the poison bar’s creepy atmosphere, including Willow’s touches, but not the drinks. It was too dangerous for his heart, so he frequented the normal bar in the back. He always tipped generously and the staff loved him.
The actual Sexy Brutale had way more (and safe) elevators, as well as ramps, broad and level-access doors, easy to move handles, etc. Lucas let have Thanos all the reins when it came to designing the mansion to be as accessible as possible. The architect contacted colleagues and friends, among whom many were also impaired, for their input. Trinity was delighted at the braile card decks and books when the she visited the first time, and (loudly) suggested her input on how to improve the mansion for blind guests.
Also, imagine Toph, when she reacted to people forgetting she was blind or acting dumbly about.
On the days where the elevators didn’t work, but Thanos needed to change floors? A muscular staff member - occasionally Redd - hefted him on a shoulder, carried him up or down the stairs to a chair, fetched his wheelchair, and on he went. They gave the same service to other guests who had trouble using the stairs.
All of Lucas’ friends knew of Lucas’ illegal activities to some degree.
Willow, Redd, and Clay are from and have family in Mexico whom they visit when they have the time. Sixpence and Eleanor are from England.
Willow searched for obscure / ‘scary’ objects on Lucas’ request, yes, but she did so in a deep respect of the cultures and people the items came from. If something was holy, she searched for something mundane instead and always asked for permission. If there was no permission, she moved one. Stolen items she found she tried to retun to the rightful owners.
Occasionally, Willow and Lucas butted heads because his appreciation of the morbid was of a shallow nature. He didn’t understand and often hurt her sensibilities. Left from his youth, he just looked for the next thrill, the next risk. This broke through in his crass humor, like the time he jokingly suggested holding a ‘dumb supper’ for the dead in the dining hall. Willow didn’t talk to him for a month; their friends called him out on his behavior and gave him a piece of their minds. It took several apologies from his side and some time until she forgave him. This contributed to his slow change of heart of what he wanted in his life.
Everybody in the group knew about Redd’s crush on Greyson. Except (maybe) Greyson himself. Oh, and Clay, too, because he was that oblivious. Trinity teased him for weeks if she should lend Clay her cane.
Thanos and Sixpence / Reginald used to argue a lot, because their different personalities and dispositions clashed with each other. Many relationships in the group actually had a ‘vitrolic best friends’ dynamic going on. Lucas and his jackass moments contributed a big chunk of these moments.
Trinity also had an addictive personality. She rigorously channeled it through her art, but she still had days where she lost herself in the games.
There was a running joke about Thanos’ ‘old man crotchiness’. It wasn’t Greyson who started it, though, but Aurum. Plot twist - Thanos often joined in the joking and deliberately played it up. Another twist - Aurum sometimes copied Thanos for fun, the two of them ranting about ‘today’s youth and their manners!’, although Aurum is several decades younger than Thanos. It annoys or amuses their friends. It also helped chase off people if they wanted some privacy for talking.
Redd never liked physical conflicts or fights. That didn’t stop him from regularly holding his brother in a headlock when they tussled playfully. Clay always complained, but never could turn it around.
