Of course Lymella takes the form of a lioness- have you ever met anything as destructively cavalier as a cat?

Yeah, my fursona is a big, hedonistic wine aunt of a wolf who would literally just hijack my body if she could to turn me into her. I guess you could say, as my friend @roundanimal so eloquently put it, that I have
Ly-canthropy

I think I’m definitely sticking with good ol’ wolf Lymella, it’s nice to go back to her classic design from just after her origin- which was my Worgen warlock in WoW (say that five times fast)
I mean, she’s functionally a god now, she can and will be anything she wants, I Literally Cannot Stop Her, but it’s nice to have a baseline like with foxtaur!Lena

"All that hemming and hawwing, and here we are, revisiting the same dragon, year after year. Face it- you struck gold the first time"
....it's sort of a fact- if I draw a mom-dommish dragon, they always just turn into a new form for Lymella. This WIP is no different- says something about me, I guess.

I'll say "oh yeah I don't have complex fursona lore, I never got it" and then in the next breath explain that Lymella is canonically an OC that literally broke free of the fourth wall to take over the will of the being that created her (<- this dork) and then put the original will of said divine entity into a new form with none of the power, creating Lena, and they are both separate characters, the same characters, aspects of the same character, and Literally Me at the same time.
Like I said. Simple!

Fallout!Lymella was a fun character study, actually- Enclave scientist, basically developed numerous mutative serums to give combat troops an edge, didn’t give a rat’s ass about anything but her work until she was dispatched to Appalachia and discovered the whole… Scorchbeast situation. Kinda quietly defected and worked to undo the damage already done, but she was definitely not a… nice or particularly good person, even after defecting she was very self-motivated and cold towards anyone she deemed secondary to her own concerns- a far cry from the canonical Lymella!
Sometimes ya gotta have an Ethically Dubious Mad Scientist AU, as a treat.

Speaking of large, in-charge fox women, I really gotta update Lymella to the new version I was envisioning…

Been thinkin' on Lymella's lore
What I think it boils down to is- she used to be the war god of some long lost pantheon, but as the culture faded, as her worship waned, the lion goddess turned from the violent and merciless nature she had been created to bear, and instead sought out the joys and simple pleasures her station had always denied her. Instead of battle and slaughter, she came to embody the things she wanted to- affection, found family, good food and drink, generosity.
Nobody wants to be known for acts like warfare if they can help it, and in a way, she was unshackled from this legacy by a slip into obscurity. Her features softened, as did her personality, and she became a patron of festivity and love. In being "lost," she found herself.
It's a legacy she deserves.

What are some of the factions in your setting? You can interpret "faction" however you want.
Excellent ask!
I think the defining “factions” in my setting are more based around big personalities who gain a following than any organized governments- this is a magical setting, something like the Feywild or the vague Spirit World(s) of any numbers of stories, and since that means a lot of the biggest personalities there are literal deities, (or close equivalents!) there’s definitely a sorta city-state vibe built around where those beings choose to make their homes.
To give an example, Lymella is a former war god turned greater spirit of generosity and mirth, so she’s got a fair few “followers” who all vibe with her way of life, enough that there’s a little town (I imagine something like a fantastical vegas or atlantic city with a lot more class- and sandstone) that rose up around her home temple.
But! There are factions that exist independently of these big personalities, though they tend to exist around a common cause- the Shieldwardens are a good example- though their core members, like Callaghan, are dragons, they’re an organization dedicated to keeping the peace and protecting the greater fae realm from threats from within and without- if you can pass the rigorous selection process, you can don the gold and green and help make the world a better place too- no matter where you’re from!
There are a few more I’m percolating on, but nothing solid yet!
