A quick update on why we’ve been MIA

Barry sent me this. I honestly have no words to describe this mess. Which is why I’m not writing much else.

Well that and the fact I don’t have the time to write much because I am unclogging our new kitchen sink while waiting for the walls to dry.

Yes. Barry’s back at my place packing my stuff for me.

The truth of things by Leonard Snart

Things change so fast it’s insane. Stuck in New York during the virus has been a trip. 

Barry had a photoshoot. He was so excited about it. Taking pictures in a real studio for a real brand was some a huge opportunity for him. He decided to rent a small apartment near the studio for the week he’d be there. 

I just went with him because I thought I might get inspired by the city.

I’m glad I came. Can’t imagine him alone at a time like this. 

The lockdown or whatever it’s called has taken its toll on both of us, sure, on everyone. But the contract was dropped and we found ourselves stuck in a studio apartment away from home with just a few t-shirts and pants, a tiny kitchen and our laptops and phones. 

Barry has been drained. This is actually the first time I managed to get him outside for a while. He actually put some pants on. It’s not much but it’s great to see him up and about again (and yes, I asked him for permission before writing about his depression online).

It’s rough. You miss the most stupid things like a knife you had back home, a specific set of sheets, the way the sun came in through the window in the morning...

Here’s a list of little things we’ve been doing together to try and stay sane.

Yesterday we had a dance party to a 40s big band music playlist. 

We make pancakes when we want. 

Barry always makes breakfast and I always make lunch. 

We’re learning guitar. 

These are just a few things we’re doing. If we have breakfast, lunch and dinner, go all the way to the first floor then come back up using the stairs and do one fun thing, it’s an amazing day. 

Getting Barry to smile is always special. Hearing his voice is always special. Seeing his face behind the camera is more than special. 

I’m glad we have each other. I’m glad I can be here for him. 

I love you, Barry. Can’t wait to go back home with you.
