The 10 Most Dangerous Tourist Destinations in the World
The 10 Most Dangerous Tourist Destinations in the World
10)New Smyrna Beach, Florida Florida’s New Smyrna Beach is a surfer’s paradise. The perfect waves attract surfers from all over the world, helped by Florida’s warm climate. Unfortunately, however, danger is lurking just beneath the waves. The waters off New Smyrna Beach are teeming with sharks. Florida is known as the world’s shark attack capital. It’s also well known that sharks and surfers tend…

To the bottom of the sea and the ends of the earth, high-risk travel is booming.
Re: the missing Titanic tourist submersible, from Christine Chung for The New York Times:
Plunging to the depths of the ocean in a submersible to explore the remains of the Titanic is just one of many extreme excursions on offer for travelers willing to pay a hefty price tag — and accept a substantial dose of peril...
These types of singular and dangerous adventures are becoming increasingly popular with deep-pocketed leisure travelers in search of novel experiences, several travel experts said.
“There are a lot of incredibly well-traveled folks out there who constantly push the boundaries of their travels to chase thrills and claim bragging rights,” said Peter Anderson, managing director of Knightsbridge Circle, a luxury concierge service with offices in London, New York and Dubai. “They’re so accustomed to what they consider to be typical vacations that they begin to seek out more unique experiences, many of which involve a degree of risk.”
Mr. Anderson said he had recently planned a trip for a client to visit the pyramids in South Sudan, the site of one of the world’s biggest refugee crises, which has a “Do Not Travel” advisory from the U.S. State Department. The planning process, he said, involved consultations with security experts on how to best mitigate potential dangers.
Another client wanted to voyage to the geographic South Pole — the southernmost point on Earth — which required chartering an icebreaker, a large vessel that can pass through ice-covered waters, and two helicopters for sightseeing. The trip, which cost about $100,000 per person, required a week of various health screenings and weather preparedness training.
Physically demanding expeditions to some of the world’s most remote destinations are a growing business for the luxury travel company Abercrombie & Kent, said Geoffrey Kent, its founder. He said the company uses expert guides to eliminate as much risk as possible.
“These are thrilling adventures for top-tier clients who have done pretty much everything,” Mr. Kent said in a statement, adding that the challenges left guests “with a sense of accomplishment.”
Perhaps the priciest ticket, and biggest possible risk, is space travel, which has been dominated by a trio of billionaire-led rocket companies: Blue Origin, owned by Jeff Bezos, whose passengers have included the “Star Trek” television star William Shatner; Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, where tickets for a suborbital spaceflight start at $450,000; and Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which in 2022 launched an all-civilian spaceflight, with no trained astronauts on board.

For centuries, the country’s western volcanic peninsula has been dormant, but a new era of volcanic activity could be on the horizon.
The Fagradalsfjall Volcano, a raised crater of bubbling lava — glowing bright yellow in an expanse of dark gray — is the latest eruption heralding Iceland’s new period of volcanic activity.
The eruption announced its approach on July 4 of this year, when southwest Iceland was rocked by more than 2,000 earthquakes in just 24 hours.
Not long after, seismic activity dropped off as magma rose to shallow depths and ultimately gave way to oozing molten rock on July 10.
Tumblr media
Located next to the small mountain of Litli-Hrútur, this eruption is taking place on Reykjanes, a volcanically active peninsula that has become a popular destination among tourists looking to see lava fountaining above and pouring onto the surface.
However, the site of the new eruption is potentially hazardous — new fissures may open nearby without warning, rivers of lava can form at a quick pace, and toxic gas can quickly fill the air, according to the Iceland Met Office.
This eruption is the peninsula’s third volcanic paroxysm in a row, following on from similar lava-spewing eruptions in 2021 and 2022 — and it’s unlikely to be the last.
After an eruption last summer, Dave McGarvie, a volcanologist at Lancaster University, told National Geographic that the recent uptick in volcanic activity, “... could herald the start of decades of occasional eruptions.”
Tumblr media
Iceland’s volcanic geology
The Reykjanes Peninsula lies about 17 miles southwest of Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik.
It sits atop the continually spreading Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the North American plate to the west and the Eurasian plate to the east are gradually pulling apart.
Superhot, gassy magma, which is less dense than the surrounding rock, can sometimes rise into the shallow crust from buoyancy alone, but all that regional stretching also creates cracks where molten rock can infiltrate.
The peninsula’s subterranean bedlam seems to manifest as periodic busts of volcanism.
Historical accounts and studies of ancient volcanic rocks show that times of volcanic repose transition into loud seismic and eruptive awakenings in a cycle that’s transpired several times in the past few millennia.
Although the region had been volcanically dormant for centuries, the tectonic sundering happening in the depths meant that the latest eruptions have long been in the works.
Tumblr media
A fiery new beginning
And in recent years, several sheets of magma ascended toward the surface, indicated by the changing shape of the ground and swarms of earthquakes, says Tobias Dürig, a volcanologist at the University of Iceland.
But for some time, these magmatic serpents failed to see sunlight — their escape was stymied either from the loss of their own upward momentum or because the resilient crust didn’t offer an escape hatch.
Nevertheless, as earthquakes began to crescendo in both frequency and strength from late 2019 onwards, scientists suspected that an eruption sometime in the future seemed inevitable.
That was confirmed in dramatic fashion on 19 March 2021, when lava began gushing from a 1,650-foot-long fissure in a valley of the Geldingadalur region.
These ferocious fires are gifting scientists with an unparalleled look at the connective tissue between the igneous abyss below and the lava-licked landscape above.
Their efforts help improve our understanding of Earth’s viscera, of Iceland’s volcanic cadence, and of this peninsula’s volcanic dangers.

Jordan Peele's NOPE (2022) is a tense, worrying, anxiety-inducing and thought-provoking horror film which deserves to be seen in its full scope on the big screen. I have no particular love for the bleak desert locations of Agua Dulce, California, but as shot on 65mm film and screened in digital IMAX the bleached desert visuals lend scale and spectacle to a film which questions the role of visual spectacle in our lives. Jordan Peele became famous for his television sketch comedy with Keegan-Michael Key, on MADtv and Key & Peele. This work often had pointed social commentary in it, which continues to be a hallmark of Peele's work. It is possible to imagine the ideas explored in Peele's horror features also being explored in his earlier sketch comedy. There is, oddly, a haunting monologue in NOPE in which one character describes a nonexistent Saturday Night Live comedy sketch starring Chris Kattan- who does not appear in this film.
Jordan Peele has quickly gained a reputation as probably the best horror director working today, and it's because his movies are not just scary and full of haunting ideas which stick with you, but also because they feel deeply personal. In his sketch comedy days, he once played President Barack Obama with Keegan Michael-Key as his "anger translator," saying the things that an average person might say if confronted with the level of bullshit that the President dealt with during his term. This was, probably, just a fantasy, presenting Obama as more relatable than he was. In these films, Peele seems to serve as his own "anger translator," populating these already terrifying situations with his own frustrations and unease with the state of the union today. All the evidence would suggest that Peele has deep misgivings and trauma from existing as a black creator in Hollywood, and this comes out in his work.
In 2017's Get Out, British actor Daniel Kaluuya played Chris Washington, who visits his white girlfriend's liberal family at their plantation-style home, and gradually realizes that he's walked into a trap. Though there's nods toward a science-fiction premise, the real horror here is how American society has traditionally treated black bodies as disposable. That their lives might not "matter." There is something universally haunting and terrifying about the scenes in which Chris's autonomy as a person is taken from him, and he is sent to the "sunken place"- where his screams will go unheard. The satirical social commentary is impossible to miss, and it's also a well-constructed horror film in which the sense of dread and danger is rising and palpable throughout. In 2019's Us a family on vacation (led by Winston Duke and Lupita Nyong'o) are terrorized by doppelgangers of themselves, who have lived a funhouse mirror life in the darkness, deprived of every advantage that this family had in the light.
In NOPE the filmmaker takes on Hollywood itself, and the idea that our lives are now lived on camera. This is just the background radiation of the film- a Hollywood which is unequal by default, and racist in a casual, unthinking way that the film doesn't dwell on. The Haywood family, who run Haywood's Hollywood Horses on a ranch in Agua Dulce, have been trying to get ahead in a small niche of the movie business for as long as OJ (Otis Jr) and Emerald Haywood (Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer) have been alive. They are already traumatized and broken by the time we first meet Emerald, late for work and doing her energetic hard-sell pitch on the set of a commercial. Steven Yeun, as former child actor and rival horse rancher Ricky "Jupe" Park, is traumatized too, but has learned to wear a smile like a mask and play the part of the carnival-barker showman. He has turned his ranch into a tourist destination, "Jupiter's Claim," selling plush toys of aliens that he would never admit are straight from his own nightmares.
Daniel Kaluuya is again an appealingly languid presence as OJ Haywood. He is not as outwardly energetic and assertive as his sister, but the film is always very much on his side, allowing you to get in his headspace throughout. He underplays it as someone who has seen too much for his young age. The film is equally sympathetic to Keke Palmer's Emerald, even as it uses her to show how destructive it is, to a person, to constantly have to hustle and prove yourself to the media powers that be, or even to be believed. Neither of them are especially good as proving themselves worthy in a rigged system, and eventually it makes them both equally reckless. It's not hard to compare this to the reckless behavior of Jupe, whose childhood trauma is explained in one of the film's scarier scenes. Like many child actors he had big dreams and was trying to prove himself, but when it mattered there was no one there to protect him, or anyone around him. And somewhere out there, there be monsters. Or maybe just animals doing what animals do.
There will be a lot of pages written about what this movie means, exactly. In some ways the film is overt about its themes but exactly what we're supposed to take away from that is up to the viewer. This is the kind of movie that film students love. It's certainly not the pointed statement that Get Out was, but it has something to say about how Americans would relate to an event like this, which makes it a fresh and unique twist on what could seem like well-trodden subject matter. Does it "mean" as much as Get Out? Not really, but it establishes its own vibe and tone which is well worth the time. There is also a level of visual spectacle to the film, which a real-life family like the Haywoods would not have the budget to fake, or to reach a mass audience in the way that this film will. This is a movie about people lower on the Hollywood totem pole, who don't have the platform of a big superhero movie, or a relatively big-budget summer movie like this.
First and foremost it's also a tense and well-crafted thriller, that goes to some genuinely unpleasant places. I heard that in some screenings the film was treated as a comedy. That was not my experience. It certainly has satirical themes which could (and should) seem flippant (one key moment involves the intervention of a "journalist" believed to be from TMZ). I read another reaction in which a large-scale event midway through the movie, as depicted, made one viewer sick for a week. It's not an especially gory sequence- the viewer is left to fill in the blanks from fragments- but there are disturbing ideas in the film which could stick with you and get under your skin. There is also a constant sense of danger. The small audience I saw the film with laughed when it finally occurred to Kaluuya's OJ to lock the car door. I don't know that it actually will stick with viewers in the same way, but there is a level of craft on display here, in a mass-appeal film, that we'd normally attribute to the likes of Carpenter or Spielberg in the 80s. And it's clever.
The iconic Keith David plays the father of the family. Brandon Perea plays Angel Torres, a UFO-obsessed clerk at this movie's version of the UFO-themed Fry's Electronics in Burbank, which closed down permanently in February 2021. Michael Wincott plays filmmaker Antlers Holst, looking weathered and tanned by the Hollywood sun, and using outdated film equipment in 2022.
At one point, OJ, Emerald and Angel have left the ranch, and another movie might have rolled the credits here. When they went to Angel's apartment instead, followed by VR gaming, vaping and shrimp sandwiches, it was clear that we weren't remotely done yet. There's a lot happening here, including enough believable CGI effects to take up a good chunk of the $68 million budget.
There are two brief shots at the very end which change the outcome of the film, and which would have been easy to fake in post or with one pickup. There's also, at least in my opinion, no hint of this outcome in the previous shot's performance, which seemed to be setting up a different kind of arrival if you cut to black there. But that might just be saving it as a surprise, and then wanting to get it over with quickly. It does feel like something Peele would have shot, but maybe an afterthought, or to give himself options. I suspect it was tested with and without those shots anyway. Get Out also had an unused alternate ending which was a bit darker, at the end of an already very dark film, and I'm sure the same discussions were had here. It doesn't make the movie better or worse, but it does leave you on a different note.
The audio was generally well-mixed. I had trouble understanding some of the dialogue, though not to a degree that it affected comprehension. On Twitter, Jordan Peele released an opening sequence for the sitcom "Gordy's Home," with a faux VHS filter over it. Footage from the ALF-like sitcom is vaguely glimpsed in the background of Jupe's scenes but is not directly shown. It easily could have been, although it might have felt too comedic. It does show how much thought was put into the backstory of these characters, and the media that surrounds and shapes them. Early in the film, Emerald misses one word in her sales pitch on the commercial set, and a VHS tape later tells us why.
There's some very subtle stuff going on, and other stuff which is about as subtle as a thousand gallons of blood dumped overhead. I think that's a good mix for a movie to have, and it shows why Jordan Peele is one of the most interesting filmmakers working today.

I'm Charles Colis. Here's my life experience in Iba, Zambales
Tumblr media
Zambales has become one of the best travel destinations. It is always full of holidaymakers throughout the year. There are many reasons why vacationers from different parts of the city choose Zambales, Philippines as their holiday destination.
Tumblr media
Firstly, the region is situated on an island and therefore it offers tourists an opportunity to catch some of the most interesting sights. It is also surrounded by wonderful beaches where holidaymakers can spend their vacation.
Tumblr media
If you love beach vacations, then Zambales, Philippines is the best place to go. The region is known to offer the best beach weather. What is more, this kind of weather is available for the better part of the year.
Tumblr media
Here's my friend, It is summer vacation that we plan together before the end of the school year and last day of class on 2022. We are schoolmates that always bonding outside and deep talk everytime that we have a free time. Not expected that we make it enjoyful and it is a 3 days and 2 nights we've together in 1 house.
As we were going to our destination, we were already happy with the stories we knew about each other. Our flight to Iba, Zambales is 5 to 6 hours. In the morning we arrived at our friend house, his family's house is where we will stay. As soon as we arrived, I could see in their eyes that they wanted to rest, so we all rested in the room first.
When we were able to rest, everyone ate first and went straight to the beach because it was getting dark so we couldn't stay longer and continued to our friend's house because they have their own pool.
Tumblr media
The others with us had gone up, but Joey and Jared and I continued swimming, until it got dark, we laid down and rested while talking and looking at the stars. Yoon always likes what happens when we're at sea, we just lay on the beach and I'm with my friends. If they didn't send us back there, maybe at what time will we be able to return to what we talked about so much. The vibes are different when you're talking because you can hear the sound of the waves coming towards us.
Tumblr media
The next day we went to the river and traveled with our car. Before we could go to the river, we had to pass a lot of big rocks, because the direction was downhill and it was dangerous because it could fall on us, so we were careful and reached slowly.
Inhabitants of the river side are native Aeta. While we travel they see us and wave whether they are young or old.
Tumblr media
After we got off, everyone immediately started swimming. It's very beautiful here in this river because it's so clear and even if you're deep, the water doesn't get dark in the middle. It's a great feeling while swimming because it's like going back to childhood because everyone is doing something, taking pictures, eating, and paddling in the water. By the way that day we were the only people in that river and we didn't have anyone else with us.
After swimming, we went up because it was too high. When we got up, we quickly went home to our friend's house to wash up and eat and rest. So the only thing I can say is 'Take vacations, and go as many places as you can. You can always make money, but you can't always make memories.'

Titan Submersible Embraces the Fate of Titanic
The Titan was a submersible, a cutting-edge deep-sea exploration vehicle designed to withstand extreme pressures and depths. On its last undersea tourism trip to the drowned Titanic, it faced a tragic accident that claimed five lives. The incident raised questions about the safety of deep-sea submersibles and the protocols in place to manage risk. On that fateful day of June 18, 2023, the world was rocked by a tragedy. It sends shockwaves through the entire oceanic community. Titan, a submersible operated by OceanGate, was exploring the wreckage of Titanic in the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean. The destination was about 400 nautical miles (740 km) off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. 1. Occean Gate Inc. OceanGate Inc. is a private U.S. company based in Everett, Washington. It provides crewed submersibles for tourism, industry, research, and exploration. The company started business in 2009 by Stockton Rush and Guillermo Söhnlein. OceanGate acquired a submersible vessel, Antipodes, and later built two of its own: Cyclops 1 and Titan.  In 2021, OceanGate began taking paying tourists in the Titan to visit the wreck of the Titanic.  Titan Submersible As of 2022, the price to one person on an OceanGate expedition to the Titanic shipwreck was US$250,000 per person. In June 2023, the Titan submersible imploded during a voyage to the Titanic shipwreck site. Five occupants on board, including Rush faced death. An international search-and-rescue operation started on June 22. The wreckage was found on the seabed near the Titanic wreck site. The company has faced hurdles in executing its excursions to the Titanic. It has faced a series of mechanical problems and inclement weather conditions. There were instances of cancellation or delays of trips in recent years. The scuttled excursions led to a pair of lawsuits. Some high-paying customers sought to recoup the cost of trips they said they didn’t take. The Titan Expedition The submersible was carrying five people, all eager to witness the haunting wreckage of the unfortunate Titanic. But fate had other plans. As Titan descended deeper into the abyss, something went terribly wrong. Communication with the submersible was lost just 1 hour and 45 minutes into its dive. The authorities started scrambling to locate the missing vessel. The world held its breath as the search for Titan and its occupants began. For nearly 80 hours, the oceanic community held its collective breath. The search and rescue teams scoured the ocean floor for any sign of the missing submersible. Finally, a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) deployed from Canada's Horizon Arctic vessel. The ROV discovered a debris field containing parts of Titan. It was located about 500 meters (1,600 ft) from the bow of the Titanic. The Rescue Campaign The U.S. Navy's sonar detection had picked up an acoustic signature consistent with an implosion around the time communications with the submersible ceased. It was a chilling realization that the pressure vessel had imploded while Titan was descending. That presumably resulted in the instantaneous loss of all five unlucky souls inside the submersible. The tragedy of Titan's implosion will forever remain an unsloved mystery in the annals of oceanic history. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk in the depths of the ocean. The accident highlights the importance of safety protocols in all underwater expeditions. May the souls of those lost in this tragedy rest in peace. It is time to examine the events that led up to the accident, the factors that contributed to it. Questions also arise about the response efforts that followed. We will also explore the lessons learned and the implications for the future of submersible technology. 2. Introduction to the Titan Submersible The Titan submersible was a state-of-the-art underwater vehicle for deep-sea exploration. It was equipped with advanced technology that allowed it to descend to depths of over 4,000 meters. It was one of the most advanced submersibles in the world. However, a tragic accident occurred during one of its missions. The accident resulted in the loss of Five lives onboard and the destruction of the vehicle. Here we will explore what happened, the factors that contributed to the accident, and communication in ensuring safety in high-risk environments. Competency of the Occean Gate & Titan According to a report by USA Today, OceanGate, the company that operated the Titan submersible, has stated that it has completed at least 14 expeditions and more than 200 dives in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf of Mexico. The Titan submersible itself had completed over 50 test dives. That includes to depths similar to those of the Titanic, both in waters around the Bahamas and the pressure chamber. However, there is no specific information available on the number of trips it completed to the Titanic wreck site. 3. The Tragic Accident On a routine mission to explore the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean, the Titan submersible suddenly malfunctioned. It was descending to the ocean floor towards the wreckage of the Titanic that drowned on April 15, 1912. There still is no accurate finding as to what exactly happened. The submersible eventually crashed onto the ocean floor, causing significant damage and resulting in the loss of FIVE lives. Timeline of Events The Journey to death started on Friday, June 18, 2023. - Friday: The expedition sets off from St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. - Saturday: British billionaire and adventurer Hamish Harding, posts on Facebook: “Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only crewed mission to the Titanic in 2023. A weather window has just opened up and we are going to attempt a dive tomorrow. - Sunday 8 am GMT/4 am ET: Time the submersible originally aimed to start its descent, according to a post by Harding on Instagram. It actually started its descent later. - 12 pm GMT/8 am ET: The submersible starts for a two-hour descent to the Titanic wreck, nearly 4,000 meters down. - 1.45 pm GMT/9.45 am ET: Communications between the submersible and the surface vessel was lost 1 hour and 45 minutes after starting its descent. - 7 pm GMT/3 pm ET: Titan has to return to the surface, but fails to appear. - 9.40 pm GMT/5.40 pm ET: US Coast Guard receives a report about an overdue submersible from the research vessel Polar Prince about 900 nautical miles east of Cape Cod on the US coast. - Monday: US and Canadian ships and planes are swarming the area, some dropping sonar buoys that can monitor to a depth of almost 4,000 meters. The US Coast Guard announced that the vessel suffered a ‘catastrophic implosion’. A “debris field” matching the submersible was discovered by a robotic deep-sea vessel.  4. Factors that Contributed to the Accident An investigation into the accident will continue. Nobody yet knows if the world will ever knoe the exact reasons and the details of the accident. Like many other unfortunate accidents the Titan mystry will shroud in the history. It will however raise question about the ethical validity of such adventures at the first place. There are many other question about the security factors and alternate rescue arrangements. Environmental Factors The depth at which the Titan submersible was operating was one of the deepest parts of the ocean. Thee intense pressure at those depths made the environment particularly challenging. The pressure had put a significant strain on the submersible's systems, which likely contributed to the malfunction that caused the accident. Human Error We don't know and perhaps will never know the the primary cause of the accident. Was it an equipment malfunction, human error or another external unknown unexpected reason, nobody knows the truth. Additionally, there was no reliable communication between the Titan and the lauching ship. There was no rescue submersible arrangement to dive for help in case of emergency. 5. The People Onborad The crew of the Titan submersible consisted of five people, including three Britons, a Frenchman, and an American. The crew members were: - Hamish Harding: A British billionaire and adventurer who was the chairman of Dubai-based private plane firm Action Aviation. He held three Guinness World Records, including the longest duration at full ocean depth by a crewed vessel. - Shahzada Dawood: A Pakistani investor and UK-based board member of the Prince’s Trust charity. He was also the vice-president for the Engro Corporation- Pakistan, which makes fertilizers, food, and energy. - Suleman Dawood: The 19-year-old son of Shahzada Dawood, who was a student at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. - Paul-Henri Nargeolet: A French diver and explorer who was a resident of New York. - Stockton Rush: The CEO of OceanGate, the company that operated the Titan submersible. All five crew members have presumeably died after the US Coast Guard said that the vessel had suffered a 'catastrophic implosion’1 Communication Protocols The Titan submersible communicated with its mother ship, the Polar Prince, by text messages. The submersible was required to communicate every 15 minutes, according to OceanGate Expeditions’ archived website. With no GPS underwater, the Titan have had an acoustic link with its surface vessel. The link was set up through a transponder (a device for receiving a sonar signal) on its end, and a transceiver (a device that can both transmit and receive signals) on the surface vessel. 6. Rescue and Recovery Efforts Rescue After the Titan submersible went missing on its way to the Titanic wreckage, a massive search and rescue operation was launched off the eastern coast of Canada. An international team led by the US Coast Guard, US Navy, and Canadian Coast Guard was searching the missing submersible.  Support was provided by aircraft from the Royal Canadian Air Force and United States Air National Guard, a Royal Canadian Navy ship, as well as several commercial and research vessels and remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs). After several days of searching in a remote area of the North Atlantic, the US Coast Guard announced that the submersible had suffered a 'catastrophic implosion’.  Titan Wreck Site A debris field matching the submersible was discovered by an ROV deployed from Canada’s Horizon Arctic vessel. The debris field was found close to the wreckage of the Titanic, about 500 meters (1,600 ft) from its bow. Recovery The mission then turned from rescue to recovery. However, it is unclear if any human remains will be recovered from the site. The US Coast Guard has said that many questions remain unanswered after the discovery of debris near the Titanic indicating that the submersible imploded. The incident is currently under investigation by authorities. Emergency Response Plan According to OceanGate the submersible was required to communicate every 15 minutes with its mother ship, the Polar Prince, by text messages. With no GPS underwater, the Titan would have had an acoustic link with its surface vessel. 7. Challenges Faced During Rescue The search and rescue mission for the Titan submersible posed significant challenges due to the depth and complexity of the operation. The search area was vast, covering the ocean’s surface and the depths beneath, in case the submersible had come up but was unable to communicate. The effort could have been the deepest search and rescue mission ever attempted. Wreckage of Titanic A rescue effort would have had to contend with limited visibility, extremely high pressure, and an ocean floor crowded with pieces of the Titanic’s wreckage. All that hinderences made sonar identification of the Titan difficult. The submersible’s limited oxygen supply also made the search urgent. The search-and-rescue operations for the Titan were an unusual case, as measured by the complexity, costs, time sensitivity, and scale. Unlike search-and-rescue operations on the ground that can be undertaken by volunteers and with little or no equipment, marine search and rescue is a highly specialized operation. It requires high-tech equipment, tools, training, coordination, and capacity. In this case, the search-and-rescue area was not in square kilometers or miles. Rather, it was in cubic measurements (3D). The vessel could have been anywhere around the surface, in shallow or deep waters, or on the ocean floor.  While there were capable teams with the needed equipment and training, they were not sufficient to cover a large area with limited information or uncertainty about the situation 8. Lessons Learned and Future Implications The Titan submersible accident has raised questions about the safety and regulation of high-risk adventure tourism. The Boston Globe published an editorial. It staes that the deaths of the five passengers aboard the Titan submersible should be a wake-up call to stop letting wealthy tourists gallivant in outer space or the deep seas without any regulation at all.  The editorial also compared the incident to the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. The horrible accident led to many countries updating their maritime safety laws. The move culminated in the first International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. The incident has also highlighted the need for better safety measures and regulations for submersibles. A submersible expert told CNN that he had warned OceanGate, the company that operated the Titan submersible, about safety concerns before the accident. 9. Long-Term Implications for Submersible Technology The incident has also highlighted the need for better safety measures and regulations for submersibles. A submersible expert told CNN that he had warned OceanGate, the company that operated the Titan submersible, about safety concerns before the accident. It remains to be seen what specific lessons will be learned from this tragedy, but it is clear that there is a need for better regulation and safety measures in high-risk adventure tourism. Is there anything else you would like to know?  10. The Ethical Implications The ethical implications of this tragedy include questions about the responsibility of companies offering high-risk adventure tourism, as well as the enforceability of waivers signed by passengers. There are also jurisdictional considerations and potential criminal charges that may arise from this incident.  Additionally, there are ethical and moral questions about whether it is right to allow wealthy tourists to engage in high-risk activities without proper regulation and safety measures in place. It remains to be seen what specific lessons will be learned from this tragedy, but it is clear that there is a need for better regulation and safety measures in high-risk adventure tourism.  Moving Forward After Tragedy The tragedy involving the Titan submersible was a devastating event that had a profound impact on the subsea industry. However, by learning from the lessons of this tragedy, we can move forward and ensure that the safety of submersible crew members is always a top priority. We owe it to those who lost their lives in this incident to do everything in our power to ensure that it never happens again. The tragedy that occurred with the Titan submersible serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in deep-sea exploration. While the incident was devastating, it has spurred important conversations and changes in safety protocols across the industry. By examining what happened and working to improve safety measures, we can continue to push the boundaries of scientific discovery. We need to ensure the foolproof protection of the lives of those who venture into the depths. Read the full article

Inside The World of Ultra Wealthy Extreme Tourism
— By Anna Skinner | June 22, 2023
Ultra-luxurious vacations costing hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars have increased in popularity since COVID-19 traveling restrictions have eased.
Luxurious vacations can include everything from visiting the International Space Station, to scaling Everest, to going on a private jet tour around the world's safaris.
Such excursions can threaten the environment or lead to exorbitant rescue missions and, rarely and most recently, tragedy.
Many consider a vacation as an escape to the beach for a week or, if they're lucky, traveling overseas. But for the world's ultra-wealthy travelers, the sky isn't even the limit.
For a price, tourists have access not only to the depths of Earth's oceans to visit the RMS Titanic in its final resting place, but also to out-of-this-world destinations like the International Space Station.
These excursions can be risky. The former—a trip costing $250,000 per person—took a horrifying turn as five people are now presumed dead after their submersible lost communication only one hour and 45 minutes into its trip. Operator OceanGate Expeditions announced Thursday afternoon that it believes all five lives have "sadly been lost," and the U.S. Coast Guard said that debris found in the area was consistent with a "catastrophic implosion" of the vessel.
For some, the risk involved in going on the ultimate adventure is all part of the appeal, and businesses to cater to their taste for adventure are booming.
In perhaps the most extreme example, three civilians paid an estimated $55 million each to board a SpaceX rocket and be blasted to the International Space Station in April 2022.
Other wealth thrill-seekers have to content themselves with staying on Earth. A trip to the South Pole can be arranged for about $100,000. A no-expense-spared expedition to conquer Everest costs about the same, although for the elite it is becoming rather crowded: on a single day in 2019, 354 climbers made it to the top.
For those seeking a slightly more sedate taste of the wild, sought-after trips span from luxurious African safaris to guided tours in the Arctic Circle.
Exclusivity, adventure, and danger are a potent mix for the ultra-rich, and it is increasingly becoming impossible for them to resist the allure—or to brag about it afterward.

A Look Inside a Wealthy Vacation
International travel companies like Abercrombie and Kent offer one-of-a-kind excursions that present incredible opportunities, such as searching for Bengal tigers in India or encountering the endangered mountain gorilla in the Ugandan wild. Many of these luxurious vacations are equipped with the utmost comforts. In Abercrombie and Kent's case, clients have access to a private jet.
Trips come with a four- to six-digit price tag. With the more luxurious options, clients can experience some of the world's elusive locations crackling with adventure while bypassing many of the headaches that accompany world travel.
Abercrombie and Kent's director of media relations Pamela Lassers told Newsweek that the international travel company strives to "create thrilling adventures for top-tier clients who have pretty much done everything."
Take for example Abercrombie and Kent's 25-day trip "Wildlife Safari: Around the World by Private Jet 2024", which takes clients on a private jet tour around the world, exposing them to a multi-continental safari with everything from snow monkeys and whale sharks to orangutans, gorillas and Bengal tigers in one trip.
The trip, which costs just shy of $165,000 per person, often sells out within three months.
By participating, clients not only are exposed to myriad environments and safaris, but they are able to bypass international gateways and are accompanied by their own crew on the private jet. Private transportation saves time, which Lassers says many Abercrombie and Kent clients, often busy entrepreneurs, don't have much of.
"They have traveled a lot and seen a lot of the world and now they are interested to getting to more remote places," Lassers said of Abercrombie and Kent's clientele, who seek out the organization's wildlife safaris or expedition cruises to Antarctica.
Lassers added that many of the destinations include access to experts to educate travelers. For example, when a client visits Antarctica, they might encounter a specialist who educates them on the changes that have taken place on the continent because of climate change.
“They have traveled a lot and seen a lot of the World and now they are interested to getting to more remote places.” — Abercrombie and Kent Director of Media Relations Pamela Lassers
"It's a learning vacation in addition to being an adventure," Lassers said.
Lassers told Newsweek that Abercrombie and Kent has seen a dramatic uptick in those seeking adventurous vacations through the company, and 2023 is the company's strongest year in its 61-year history. She said that the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the way people travel and inspired them to take advantage of trips that expose them to the world.
Easing COVID-19 travel restrictions also has led to an increase in Singita bookings as well. Singita is an African-based game lodge operator exposing visitors to safari lodges and wildlife reserves.
Tumblr media

"Singita has seen an incredible bounce back in business; and demand for ecotourism," Singita spokesperson Lisa Carey told Newsweek in a statement. "Our guests are longing to travel consciously; to get into nature to disconnect from the pressure of daily life."
Singita lodges expose travelers to "restorative sanctuaries and encounters in the bush that guests won't find anywhere else," accompanied by privacy and award-winning hospitality, according to Carey. In addition to witnessing African wildlife in their natural habitat, Singita guests can choose from a variety of luxury accommodations and activities, such as massage treatments.
Rates for the luxurious lodges vary greatly, depending on the size of room and what part of the year a tourist books their vacation. For example, at the Singita Faru Faru Lodge, rates are as low as $1,910 per adult per night in a suite for the off-season to $12,254 per night for a two-bedroom suite, which can accommodate up to four guests.
The organization appeals to clients with a philanthropic heart, as well.
"They can contribute to numerous conservation initiatives and community empowerment [programs]," Carey said. "Modern conservation requires a keen focus on keeping tourism, communities and wildlife in a constructive balance. Our guests are looking for ways to travel more responsibly and be immersed in nature and learn about local cultures or food; and to make a difference by choosing to travel with a sustainable provider."
The Darker Side of Luxurious Travel
Exploring the far corners of the world comes with risks, too.
There is the threat to life that the Titan submersible crew has encountered. Action Aviation Chairman Hamish Harding, who was aboard the Titan submersible, has taken several dangerous trips that expose him to extreme parts of the world.
Tumblr media
In March 2021, Harding shared an Instagram photo of receiving a Guinness World Record award from actor and singer John Travolta for breaking the Round-the-World record for an aircraft flying over the North and South Poles. Harding and former International Space Station Commander Colonel Terry Virts set the record at 46 hours, 40 minutes and 22 seconds in 2019.
In the post, Harding writes that curiosity is "utterly addicting" and stated his foremost goal as "the complete exploration of our Earth and beyond".
Harding's trips have included visiting the ocean's deepest point at Challenger Deep—more than 35,000 feet below the ocean's surface near the Mariana Trench. In 2016, he accompanied astronaut Buzz Aldrin in traveling to the South Pole. He also took part in a project that reintroduced cheetahs to India.
Harding and the other four passengers on the submersible—Stockton Rush, Paul-Henry Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood and Suleman Dawood—are now feared to be dead. A rescue mission discovered debris related to the sub near the Titanic's resting place.
Tumblr media

Another extreme adventure sought after by wealthy travelers is climbing Everest, a dangerous journey that has led to hundreds of fatalities. In May, Outside magazine reported that for 2023, fatalities had already reached double digits with several climbers still missing.
More often than risking a person's wellbeing though, wealthy travel can threaten the environment.
For example, private jets can worsen global warming by producing greenhouse gases from burning fuel. For several years, executives and other members of the world's wealthiest class have faced criticism for flying private jets to destinations. In November 2021, the BBC reported that private jets usually produce significantly more emissions per passenger than commercial flights.
Lorri Krebs, a professor of geography and sustainability at Salem State University, told Newsweek that easing COVID-19 travel restrictions and the allure of posting showy photos on social media both contribute to wealthy travelers at times taking advantage of some of the world's most precious resources.
"It's our natural resources that they're after," Krebs said, citing instances such as U.S. National Parks becoming overrun with tourists. "It's exacerbated by social media and people wanting to post the greatest things they've done. They want those pictures and those experiences, and they want to show them off.
"People want to do something that other people can't do," she added.
The lavish trips come with a high cost, and not only that paid for by the tourists. The trips require support mechanisms, such as a potential rescue of travelers hiking Mt. Everest or, recently, multiple organizations racing against the clock to rescue the 23,000-pound submersible lost thousands of feet beneath the ocean's surface.
Krebs explained that although all wealthy travelers aren't worsening the environment, those seeking the highest comforts while they travel could be causing harm. For example, those visiting the Titanic's resting place may disturb the water currents around the ship's remains.
"They want to see the most fragile environment or most fragile ecosystem," she said. "They want to see the gorillas or polar bears, and those are the ones at risk of the biggest impact."
“They want to see the gorillas or polar bears, and those are the ones at risk of the biggest impact.” — Professor Lorri Krebs
Krebs commended the travelers and organizations that are conscious of their impact and those who choose to redirect the tourism dollars to beneficial conservation efforts or toward becoming a monetary lifeforce for underdeveloped countries.

8 Real Use Cases for Augmented Reality
Tumblr media
One of the major forces driving the digital sector forward is augmented reality or AR. The global AR market size was estimated at USD 25.33 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a CAGR of 40.9% from 2022 to 2030.
That's because augmented reality (AR) software, headsets, and smart glasses can potentially improve almost every sector of the economy, from retail to manufacturing. We probably won't have to wait until 2020 for AR to significantly influence society as a whole because it can address some of the most prominent issues and pain points.
Extended Reality Technology Services are becoming more accessible and affordable, with many smartphones now equipped with AR capabilities. This makes it easier for users to experience AR without additional hardware. It is a relatively new and innovative technology that has captured the attention of many developers and creators. As a result, many new and exciting Extended Reality applications are being developed, driving interest and adoption of the technology.
Here are 8 of the top use cases for augmented reality technologies that are about to take off, ranging from remote work to education:
Medical Training
By delivering an immersive and dynamic learning environment, augmented reality (AR) has the potential to revolutionize medical education. Medical students can observe and interact with organs, bones, and other anatomical structures more naturally by using AR to display three-dimensional replicas. Real-time visualization of medical imaging data, such as CT or MRI scans, is also possible using augmented reality.
AR / VR App Development can be utilized to deliver practical training for medical device usage, upkeep, and troubleshooting. Medical students can learn to use and repair medical devices dynamically and interestingly by superimposing virtual graphics onto actual ones.
Tourism Industry
For the tourism industry, Extended Reality Technology Services has the potential to be a game-changer. By superimposing digital material over the actual environment, augmented reality improves the visitor experience. Virtual tours of museums, landmarks, and tourist destinations can be made using augmented reality. Visitors can take the virtual tour and view the site from various perspectives using a smartphone or tablet.
Maps and instructions can be given to visitors using augmented reality. Apps that use Extended Reality Technology Services can place virtual arrows and signs over the actual world to direct visitors. By superimposing translations over the real world, augmented reality can assist visitors in communicating with locals. Apps for augmented reality translation can translate text, menu items, and signage in real-time.
Public Security
People nowadays will quickly go for their smartphones in an emergency to find out what is happening, where to go, and if their loved ones are safe. Also, when there is a fire or an earthquake, first responders try to determine who needs help and how to get them to safety.
Augmented Reality App Development is shown the potential to resolve both public safety puzzle pieces. First responders who use AR glasses can be warned of dangerous places and can see in real-time who needs help while being aware of their surroundings. For those in need, location-enabled AR/VR app development can provide the best routes and directions to safe areas and locations with firefighters or medical personnel.
Education
Extended Reality Technology Services have the potential to transform education by making learning more engaging, interactive, and immersive. As technology continues to develop, we can expect to see even more innovative uses of AR / VR App Development in the classroom. AR can be used to create virtual field trips that allow students to explore different parts of the world or historical events.
For example, a history teacher could use the Augmented Reality App Development to take students on a virtual tour of the pyramids in Egypt, giving them a chance to experience history more interactively.
Restaurant
AR / VR App Development has an influence on almost every industry in restaurants. AR and VR have begun to be used by restaurant businesses for marketing and promotion. In addition, AR VR aids in staff training and offers captivating customer experiences. The food industry is one such industry that AR and VR restaurants are attempting to break into.
Ordinary menus are transformed into engaging, interactive displays using augmented reality, entertaining even the most seasoned customer. Extended Reality Technology Services is helpful for workforce training, marketing strategies, and eating enjoyment. Learning food preparation and other job-related skills is made more accessible by technology.
Entertainment
By connecting with people and fusing the actual world with the virtual one, augmented reality gives entertainment a new level.
Extended Reality Technology Services have effectively aided the entertainment sector in PR and marketing activities for motion movies, television, and other promotional campaigns.
A fresh lease of life has been given to print media, such as magazines and newspapers, by the development of augmented reality technology. Reading is presently a popular activity among older, wealthier individuals, but AR technology has the potential to make it more attractive to younger individuals.
Design and Modelling
AR assists professionals in visualizing their finished projects throughout the creative process in fields including interior design, architecture, and construction. With headgear, architects, engineers, and design experts may enter their structures immediately to see how they would look and even make real-time adjustments. Using AR headset visualization, urban planners may even simulate how complete city plans might seem. AR technology is ideal for any design or modeling tasks involving spatial connections.
Logistic
Augmented Reality (AR) has the potential to transform the logistics industry by increasing efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing safety.
AR can help warehouse workers locate products more efficiently by overlaying digital information in the real world. For example, workers can wear AR-enabled glasses that display the location of a specific product on a shelf, reducing the time needed to find it. This can improve inventory management and reduce the time spent on manual inventory checks.
AR can guide workers through picking and packing, reducing errors and improving efficiency. Workers can wear AR-enabled glasses that display information about the items they need to pick, their location, and instructions on how to pack them.
Summing up
Extended Reality has become an un-detachable part of technology when developing easy-to-use and interactive experiences for users. Augmented Reality App Development allows them to interact with digital objects in the real world, making the experience more immersive, engaging, and fun.
Businesses and brands use AR more frequently to promote their products and services. AR experiences can showcase products more interactively and engagingly, increasing customer engagement and sales. If you want to infuse the power of AR in your mobile app, hire Extended Reality App Development Services Los Angeles.

Bitcoin, Surf & My Crackdown on Gangs Bringing More Tourists than Ever to El Salvador, Says Bukele
El Salvador is seeing a rise in foreign visitors. President Nayib Bukele of the nation claims that his policies, which include the adoption of bitcoin (BTC), are the main causes of the increase in tourists to the Central American country. Last year, Bukele was the driving force for a bill making bitcoins a legal tender. He posted on Twitter to express his happiness that El Salvador was among the top 15 countries for “best-performing [international] destinations in terms of revenues” from January to May 2022, according to data from the World Tourism Organization.
Tumblr media
The organization examined international tourism receipts as part of its investigation and evaluated the true percentage change over 2019 figures. Although El Salvador’s tourism growth in the years following the coronavirus epidemic was just 6%, it was still a significant increase compared to the 86% growth experienced by Rep. Moldova, which came in the first place. El Salvador was the top-placing country in Latin America, and its score of 6% was double that of Mexico, the only other American country in the top 15.
Bukele stated on Twitter that “just a few countries” have been “able to revive” their travel and tourist industries to “pre-pandemic levels.” The “reasons behind” the increase were “mostly bitcoin and surfing,” according to Bukele, who noted that the World Tourism Organization’s data included information on international travel. Bukele also provided information from the Google Mobility Report that showed individuals, both domestic and foreign visitors, spend more time in parks, stores, and transit stations in 2022 and 2021 than they did in 2020.
The Salvadoran President, unable to resist the impulse to reward himself once more, wrote as follows in his conclusion:
“Internal tourism is growing even more, mainly because of our crackdown on gangs.”
The international community has become divided over the government’s campaign against pandillas street gangs, with many detractors arguing that Bukele’s government has abused the human rights of both detainees and individuals who are accused of being gang members.
The murder rate has dropped to zero on consecutive days for the first time in a number of years, according to Bukele, who has asserted that his approach has been an unparalleled success.
He said,
“[El Salvador] has gone from being the most dangerous country in the world to the safest nation in Latin America.”

Which Trekking Company is the best option for EBC trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal?
When it comes for trekking in the Himalayas, the local trekking companies based in Nepal is always the perfect choice. If you wonder why local trekking company based in Nepal; the simple answer is: Only authorized Nepalese agencies can provide the best trekking experience of Everest region trekking. There are many non-Nepal based trekking companies which claim to provide the best trekking packages but demand expensive price. We humbly request not to fall on the false promises. Higher price doesn’t guarantee the perfect and high class services: Every Trekking Company provides the same service and accommodation in higher region.
