The unique feature ‘Blue Tick’ by Twitter was a way of safeguarding against impersonation and taking care of false information for popular individuals. Earlier the social media site had announced that they will remove the check-mark status from Twitter accounts. The verified check-mark in question will be then available to subscribers of the Twitter Blue feature only, or Twitter Verified Organizations Plan for business-focused groups and people.

But after the abrupt removal of the ‘free’ verified checkmarks, the legacy stands stranded from organizational and individual accounts just like that. And those who will pay to keep the Twitter Blue tick marks will get the check marks on their profiles. Several B-town celebrities lost the Twitter blue tick. And the same tale was for politicians as well. Here are a few who were the victims – Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone.

The politicians include Priyanka Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, and Yogi Adityanath. The sports personalities who had the blue tick taken off were Sania Mirza, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Saina Nehwal. Twitter Blue sign-up charges are different for different regions. For instance, In India, the subscription costs Rs. 900 for Android and iOS users monthly, and for the year, the charges are Rs. 9,400. For iOS users, the web monthly subscription cost is Rs. 650.

Twitter is going to generate revenue through paid verification, according to Elon Musk. The microblogging site has also introduced programs for organizations and businesses wherein verification badges such as gray for governments and gold for companies/non-profits/brands at a cost of $1,000 per month. Twitter made an official announcement in March that it will start to take off the legacy verified program from 1 April and remove the verified checkmarks.

And those who wish to retain the legacy checkmarks will have to sign up for Twitter Blue. The check-marks were first introduced in 2009 to assist users in identifying the actual profile or accounts of brands, companies, celebrities, news organizations, politicians, and other accounts that serve the public interest. Having a blue tick mark on the account meant that it is the original profile and not that of an impostor or a parody.

There was no charge earlier for the verified checkmarks but since Musk took over the social media platform and came up with the idea of the Twitter Blue program, the badge, and other premium perks now carry a subscription cost to it.

Team Bollywood Hungama has been on their toes to bring all the exclusive updates on Pathan – from the star cast to the signing amount of all the actors. We were the first to reveal that Deepika Padukone is charging Rs. 15 crore for the film whereas John Abraham has come on board for a sum of Rs 20 crores. We now bring to you an update on the pay structure of the man who is spearheading the film, yes; we are talking about the hero, the man, the superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. According to sources close to the project, like always, Shah Rukh Khan has entered into a profit sharing agreement with Aditya Chopra for Pathan.

“Shah Rukh Khan and Adi are like brothers and seldom do they speak about the monetary terms before signing on for a film. It’s an unsaid rule that SRK will have a share in the profits of a YRF film and the tradition will continue with Pathan as well. The superstar has entered into a 45 percent profit sharing agreement with YRF, which means that for every Rs. 100 crore profit earned from the film, Shah Rukh Khan will make Rs. 45 crore rupees. The higher the profits, the higher will be his fees,” a trade source told Bollywood Hungama, adding that Shah Rukh always has been a believer of profit sharing deals to reduce the burden of his fees on the project and let the money be put to use to ramp up the scale of his films.

Shah Rukh commenced shooting for the film on November 18 at YRF studios in Mumbai, however, the Siddharth Anand directed actioner is yet to be officially announced. “The entire world knows that Shah Rukh Khan is doing an action film produced by YRF, directed by Sid, co-starring John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. An official announcement will be made at the right time and the team at the moment is in no hurry what-so-ever to announce the film. The concentration is to make a great film, as that would result in the content to make more noise than any announcements. Shah Rukh has loved the script and is damn confident of Pathan being not just an ideal comeback vehicle but also his biggest grosser,” the trade source added.

The movie also features Salman Khan in an extended cameo and is gearing up for a release in the last quarter of 2021, tentatively the Diwali weekend. It’s said to be one of the most ambitious films to come out of YRF banner, and a part of their 50 years celebration. Apart from Shah Rukh, the other actors to have entered into a profit sharing agreement with YRF in the past include Salman, Aamir and Hrithik.

Virat topples SRK, is India's most valuable celebrity brand

With a brand value of USD 144 million, cricketer Virat Kohli has dethroned Shah Rukh Khan as the most valuable celebrity brand in the country. Brand Kohli registering a growth of 56 per cent from last year, according to a report.

This increase is primarily driven by his growing endorsement fees, on-field performances and rise in popularity index, according to the Duff & Phelps report Rise of the Millennials: India's Most Valuable Celebrity Brands.

"For the first time since we began publishing our rankings, Shah Rukh Khan has slipped from the top ranking and been replaced by Virat Kohli. Kohli is now the first choice of brands to engage and attract consumers, fueled by his extraordinary on-field performances and off-field charisma," Duff & Phelps managing director and region leader - India, Japan and Southeast Asia Varun Gupta said.

Shah Rukh Khan slipped to the second spot, with a brand value of USD 106 million, down by nearly 20 percent as compared to 2016, while actress Deepika Padukone, valued at USD 93 million, retained her third rank.

Kohli endorses 20 brands as of October 2017, while Khan and Padukone endorse 21 and 23 brands, respectively.

Actor Akshay Kumar added seven new product brands to his portfolio and his brand value surged nearly 97 per cent to reach USD 47 million in 2017.

Ace shuttler PV Sindhu is the first female sports personality to feature in the top 15 celebrities, occupying the 15th slot with a brand valuation of USD 15 million.

Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only other sportsperson to feature in the top 15 list, taking the 13th position with a brand value of USD 21 million.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan was seen in the film Zero which was released way back in December 2018. After its mega debacle, the superstar chose not to sign any film right away. He went through close to 20 scripts and took more than a year to decide and finalize his next after careful consideration. Earlier this year, he gave his nod to Pathan, produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. It is directed by Siddharth Anand of War (2019) fame and is expected to be a grand action flick.

If reports are to be believed, then the film has gone on floors today. A source says, “Shah Rukh Khan has begun filming for Pathan at Mumbai’s Yash Raj Studios from today. The whole team is very excited to see King Khan back in action. SRK himself is kicked about the film and his role in the film. He has come fully prepared and is looking forward to shooting this film.”

This is the first time since June 2018 that Shah Rukh is shooting for a film as a leading man. It’s a historic moment but sadly, YRF has decided not to publicize this fact. “YRF has not even announced this film officially after all,” reminds the source.

Pathan also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. However, as reported by Bollywood Hungama before, they won’t be a part of the film’s current schedule. Both the actors are expected to join the unit only in 2021.

Bollywood Hungama was also the first one to report that the makers are eyeing a Diwali 2021 release for Pathan. A trade expert says, “Pathan is one of the biggest films to come out of YRF. It has grandeur and tons of entertainment, along with the star presence of Shah Rukh Khan. Diwali is an ideal time for it to release. Let’s hope that happens. This Diwali hasn’t been great. Pathan’s release on the Festival of Lights next year can compensate for exhibitor’s losses this Diwali too.”

What has also upped the excitement is that Salman Khan will be making a supporting appearance. He will be reprising his role of Tiger from the popular franchise, thus making it YRF’s first crossover series.

Bollywood Hungama was among the first to reveal that Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone are teaming up for Siddharth Anand’s action packed thriller, Pathan, which will go on the floors from November end. Right after that, we confirmed that John Abraham, who plays the negative lead in the film, has charged Rs. 20 crores to play the role, considering his ability to spearhead a film on his own shoulders now. We have now exclusively discovered that one of the most bankable female stars in today’s time, Deepika Padukone, has also charged a bomb to come on board.

“She is easily the most bankable female actors alongside Alia Bhatt today, and everyone at Yash Raj Films as well as SRK, was keen to get Deepika on board this film, to make it one of the biggest casting coups in the year to come. It’s a well sketched character for Deepika and she will start shooting from early next year. She has allotted all her dates and her acting fees for the film is approximately Rs. 14 to 15 crore,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The overall budget of Pathan including PnA, but excluding SRK fees, would be around Rs.. 200 crore plus, thereby being one of the costliest action films of all time. “Adi is known to splurge money on his films to give it an international vibe in all aspects – from action to casting – and he didn’t even think twice before agreeing to the acting fees demanded by both John and Deepika. It’s one of the most ambitious YRF films till date, and he doesn’t want to compromise on SRK’s comeback to the screen.”

The movie is tentatively gearing up for Diwali 2021 release, however, it all depends on how the Covid 19 pandemic unfolds in the months to follow. Stay tuned to know details of SRK's fees structure as we come up with another article on Pathan next week

After Dhoom, Kabul Express and New York, John Abraham is set to return to the YRF camp with the much awaited Siddharth Anand film, Pathan, which pits him against Shah Rukh Khan. The film also features Deepika Padukone as the female lead and is touted to be the comeback venture of SRK after his last release, Zero, which arrived in 2018. Bollywood Hungama has now exclusively discovered the fees that John Abraham has charged for Pathan.

“John is presently in the best phase of his career with his solo films emerging box-office hits. He has proved his worth of carrying films on his shoulders and hence, he hiked his fees for the much awaited YRF film. John will be paid an upfront fees of Rs. 20 crores for this action packed entertainer and will be shooting for over 60 days for his track of negative lead in Pathan,” a source told Bollywood Hungama adding further that it's a dynamic character for Abraham.

The actor will be shooting for some high octane action scenes as well as dramatic scenes alongside Shah Rukh Khan. “John is presently shooting for Satyameva Jayate 2, and on wrapping that up, will move on to Ek Villain 2. Finally, by the end of January, he will commence his work on Pathan. He is expected to fly abroad with the cast.”

The movie goes on the floors by end of November with Shah Rukh Khan filming his solo scenes in Mumbai. The official announcement is expected to be made when YRF announces its 50 year slate.
