I haven't played TE2 yet, so IDK how good it was vs the first book, but honestly, the idea of a rebrand/spin off excites me. I get the ppl wanting to see the whole college years, but I think abt what the later books of TF series were like and it makes me happy they're avoiding that trap of running out of ideas and letting things go stale, despite how good the characters were. TE's plot is obv more complex than TF, but I could still see the same thing happening if they did each yr of school. 1/2

Book 2 started off rocky and then picked up a lot after the hiatus.
But yes, I totally agree. TF series dragged a lot and ran out of interesting stories to tell and I think moving past the college years is a good move.
Let the character mature, put them out in the world and then go back to them. It also lets the book ditch some of the more expensive elements like the attunements and the spellbooke and all the spells.
I actually think it could be a refreshing change and because they ended with the relationships official and I love yous echnaged, there wouldn’t be a weird limbo like in Bloodbound because the relationships can progress offscreen and we can catch up mayve right after graduation or a year later and the relationships won’t have needed to change too much.
I actually think this could be really neat.

"Ya plan on telling us why we're here?" Killian broke the silence in the room quite abruptly, his parents and siblings turning their heads to him. Helen scoffed, Archie tried to silently shush him, and Leon leaned back on the couch with a huff.
Needless to say, this was quite the strange meeting. Killian, who'd been outcasted from the famiky years prior, was strangely enough invited. Archie's willingness to come was shocking to no one, but the same couldn't be said for Leon, who made it clear he had better things to be doing.
...Each of the siblings did, actually, Archie aside.
"Father," Amber spoke up, shooting a nasty look toward Killian, "with all due respect... What the fuck is he doing here?"
"Language, Amber!" Helen shrieked, covering her youngest daughter's mouth, "and be patient. Your father will explain things soon... I believe."
Murphy responded with a faint scoff, his back still turned toward his family. He gazed out the window with a stern expression, watching as the year's first flakes of snow began to fall.
"We have much to address," he finally began, crossing his arms, "I need your... Assistance, in dealing with a situation."
"Oh, covering more shit up, are we?" Leon growled, sitting up straighter, "you know, not all of us are as stupid as Archie! If you seriously excpect us to-"
"Leon. Be quiet." Lewis spoke up, irritation creeping out through his calm, cold demeanor, "let him finish."
Much to his dismay, Leon listened, leaning back on the couch once again.
Murphy turned to his family at last, a stern look in his eyes, "I need your assistance guarding our properties... And information."
The siblings echnaged glancea of confusion, resentment, and fury, before Archie quietly asked, "...what prompted this?"
"There's been an incident at Ivy Manor."
