Meera couldn't believe she was still standing on her two feet. A double shift as an intern had to be one of the worst nightmares. Yet she pulled her body towards the locker room with willpower she didn't even know she had and sat down dejectedly. Her legs giving up as soon as her body came in contact with the bench.

"This has to be one of the most tiring day!" she claimed kicking her shoes off and massaging her feet. 

"Bose you smell," Jackie retaliates, biting into an apple, "and you keep saying that like every other day."

"Yet she is Dr. Ramsey's favorite," Landry remarks with a snide smile.

Meera rolls her eyes, "yeah of course I stink! I was on scut today!", she said curtly ignoring Landry's comment. "And the only other patient I had was up in peds. A kid who swallowed twenty beads and I had to sift through its shit and count each of them!"

"That doesn't sound fun at all," Elijah gave her an sympathetic smile. 

"It wasn't," Meera smiled back. 

"You certainly do look the part though," Jackie taunted. 

Meera looked down at her sweaty scrubs which was now designed with blood, vomit, feces, and other various kinds of human excrement. Her hair now damp and scattered, dark circles lining her eyes. She felt disgusted by herself something she didn't even know she could feel until she picked up medicine as her career. 

"Come on now Jackie, that's not how you speak to friends," Sienna came to her rescue. 

"As if that's gonna pull her down from the DT rank list," Landry's snide comment came soon after. 

Meera had heard enough, she was about to give him a piece of her mind when a throat clearing broke the conversation. 

Ethan Ramsey had stepped into the locker room. Each and every intern dropped whatever they were doing standing up looking upto him. Meera followed suit, pushing herself to stand again. 

He looked at the sea of eager faces, but his eyes reached for the sparkling brown ones only. 

"Uhh, Dr. Bose, can I see you in my office for a moment?" 

All of the eyes darted towards her, giving her jealous, envious, curious and all kinds of looks. Meera let out a breath, suddenly very conscious of all the eyes staring at her hideous condition. 

She silently nods, eyes down to the floor. 

Ethan nods back exiting the room. 

Everyone goes back to their respective conversations but Meera could feel the energy of the room shift. 

"Told you," Landry smirked, walking away. 

"Could you lend me some deodorant?" Meera asked Jackie, but she packed her things up and walked away pretending to not hear her. 

"Here you go," Sienna handed her hers. 

"Don't worry," Elijah clapped Meera on the back, "Dr. Ramsey is extremely professional he is not going to be bothered by how you look or how you smell." 

"Let's just hope that is true," Meera smiled. 

Ethan sat in the closed off wing of the hospital. Files poured in front of him. But all he could think about was what he heard at the locker room. 

He would have interrupted, shown Olsen where his place was and rip that smirk off his face. But why? Why did he feel the sudden urge to protect Meera?

A knock interrupted his train of thoughts. 

"May I come in sir?" Meera asked. 

"Ofcourse," Ethan could see how disheveled she looked. "Dr. Bose, I was able to source these case studies from our friends at Harvard and UCLA. They might not be exact but they are pretty similar to Naveen's case. If you could join me in comparing the statistics, maybe we can develop a treatment?" 

Meera listen intently, she waited for a minute before replying,"I would love to, but if you could only give me sometime to get into something clean…" she trailed away letting her words hang. 

Ethan looked at his laptop screen with over a hundred files, he hated himself for doing this but the hope of finding a cure among them left him with no other choice. 

"I am so sorry Meera, but we have access to these files till midnight only and as you can see there is a lot to get through," he felt sick to his core. 

Meera sighed, "I understand."

She put her damp hair into a bun and pulled out the chair opposite Ethan reaching over for a file. 

They worked in silence for sometime, but Ethan felt uneasy for putting his needs over hers. 

The silence was finally broken by the beeping of his pager, "damn it, it's the DT." He put on his white coat and stethoscope, "I'll try to be back as soon as I can," he said and walked out of the room. 

Meera looked at his retreating figure and sunk deeper into her chair with a sigh. 

Ethan got occupied with the DT patient for much longer than he had expected. He checked his watch as he put his final signature on the chart. It was half an hour past midnight. He felt ashamed of himself. For leaving Meera alone to fend for herself, putting all of his burden on her. He knew he had to right his wrong. 

He walked out of the hospital and towards his favorite coffee shop down the block. When he came back he could see Meera sleeping in his makeshift office. She looked so peaceful, he thought. 

He cleared his throat, Meera opened one eye first and then straightened up at his sight. "Sorry Dr. Ramsey, I couldn't go through all of it, but I got through most of it and I have theories and I think we should administer…" 

"Breath." 

Meera visibly relaxed at Ethan's one word command. 

"It's just been a tough day," she said massaging her forehead. 

"I know, and I want you to know," Ethan stopped, not quite sure how to proceed, "I am so grateful for your help, I couldn't have done it alone."

With that he placed the coffee cup and a brown bag with blueberry muffins on the table. 

Ethan watched as Meera's expression changed from surprise to happiness to finally a smirk. 

"Wait! Is this the Ethan Ramsey being nice to me? An intern?!" 

"Savour it while it lasts rookie, it's not very common." 

Meera picked up the cup when she found the note stuck on it. She could feel heat rise to her cheek and prayed Ethan didn't notice it. 

"Was this you?" she removed the card from the cup and turned it around for him to see, "I didn't know Ethan Ramsey could draw anatomically incorrect hearts?!" 

Ethan rolled his eyes, "what can I say I am a man of many talents and also the barista was a huge help."

Meera laughed taking a sip of the coffee. Ethan found his heart slowing down, the uneasy feeling vanishing away, he believed her musical laughter could cure all the sickness in the world. 

"This was much needed, thank you Dr. Ramsey," Meera said putting the cup down. "Now how about a walk while I discuss everything I gathered from these case studies?" she paused briefly, "unless you are afraid of your reputation being tattered on being seen meddling with us peasants?" 

Ethan rolled his eyes once again, "lead the way, Dr. Bose."

thinking about spider-man ethan landry who can hear your heartbeat speed up when he gets closer or when you’re around him …

he really denies that it has to do with him at first—he thinks it might be because you have a crush on somebody else in the group due to his time with you only being in a group setting

you dont act differently around him, you dont stumble around your words like he does around you, so why would you have a crush on him? the signs arent there

he was so, so wrong. he finds out soon enough when youre supposed to meet with chad and tara for a “group thing” and you dont know he was also invited.

you get there, and chad and tara are nowhere to be seen—only ethan is there. you decide to hang out with each other anyway, and as you’re both standing, he hears your heartbeat get faster when he takes a step closer.

he is dumbfounded. throughout the night, he tests the waters by putting a hand on your arm when youre in a crowd, under the guise of not losing you, and your heartbeat gets even quicker. he stays close to you, watching for any signs you’re uncomfortable, but he sees you genuinely smile at him and only him.

by the end of the night, hes trying to muster up the courage to ask you if you like him, but he doesnt want to sound childish (after all, youre not in high school anymore, who says “like”??), but much to his surprise—

you kiss him.

when he asks what that was for, you tell him that you couldnt wait any longer. turns out youve been paying attention to how much he’s been looking out for you.

you both get a text from chad and tara. ethan gets one from chad, you get one from tara.

it says the same thing: how was your date?

thinking about reader and (not gf) ethan bonding over music, him sending you songs he thinks you’d like, sharing earphones/airpods, only puts on music you like when you’re in the car.

when you first meet him when you’re welcomed into the group, you notice on his phone that he listens to one of your favourite artists, so you ask him for his spotify. his heart soars, excited that you seemed to an interest in something he likes, but at the same time insecure because what if he listens to something you don’t like?

but he brushes off those thoughts as you beam at him after he gives you his username. you give him yours so you can follow each other.

as your friendship develops (and so does his crush), he begins to seek out certain songs to send to you, and to his delight your responses are always positive. you even start sending him songs too.

chad teases him when he spends two hours in his room scouring the internet for some more obscure finds just for you. he doesnt care about chad’s jokes when he sees the smile on your face when you listen to the songs over facetime.

unbeknownst to him, you’ve been making a playlist of every single song he has sent you. he only finds out when he catches your friend activity on spotify and you’re listening to a playlist called ethan’s songs.

over time, he musters up more courage to ask you to hang out without the group, seeing more of the city. you commute together instead of taking a car because of the annoying traffic, but he’s grateful because you give him your other airpod when you’re on the subway.

however, when you’re in a car, usually because chad’s driving for the group to go somewhere, ethan convinces him to give him the aux. you grin as you notice he’s playing the songs you like, the others around you confused as you share a smile with him they’d never seen before.

but it’s not long until they start catching on to how much you and ethan hang out. they pay attention to your instagram stories, your snap maps being on and seeing you and ethan at the same place.

they think you’re dating.

it slips when you’re late for a movie night and chad asks him, “where’s y/n?”

ethan is like ??? why would i know ???

and mindy jumps into the conversation, “because they’re your s/o? what?”

ethan blushes hard. like he is red. he asks them “does everyone think that?”

and because tara’s been listening, she says yes. proceeding to ask, “are you not dating?”

he shakes his head.

you finally arrive, saying you had car trouble, taking your spot next to ethan.

you have no idea why he’s suddenly so awkward around you.

he doesn’t know if you’re comfortable with them thinking that, but at the same time doesn’t wanna tell you because how would he even bring it up without being awkward?

mindy straight up just asks you. “are you and ethan dating?”

your eyes widen, looking to him for an answer but finding none when he mirrors the same clueless look.

“…we’re not.” you reply, but it’s not lost on ethan when you say it in a dejected tone. did you want to date him? why did you sound so disappointed?

the night continues with no other mention of it, but the tension is there. at the end of the movie, you leave for the kitchen to get another drink. he follows you.

“hey,” he begins, trying to hide the shakiness in his voice. “back there, about the…dating…thing—“

you try to laugh it off. “weird, right?”

but he can read you. after the days you’ve spent together. “be honest. do you actually think that?” saying it is a leap of faith for him, but he needs to know, now that it’s on the table.

he braces for the rejection, for you to actually laugh in his face and say, why would i date you?

you don’t, though. you respond in a whisper, and his hands are sweating—when did you come closer?—your voice is low.

you tell him how all the things you do with him, the sharing of the music, exploring the city, making playlists; you don’t do it for anybody else.

“it’s all for you, ethan.”

he’s silent. stunned. you try to walk away because of his wordlessness, but he grabs you by the wrist and pulls you into him, cups your face between his hands and kisses you.

random (mostly non-gf) ethan landry headcanons 💭

watches your favourite shows with you, even if some of it isn’t his thing

if you love yellowjackets he definitely gets invested with you. (playfully argues with you about which ships are better. he cried over laura lee’s death btw)

you watch his favourite shows in turn (he likes procedurals a lot. the type to like corny 2000s cable shows like psych but you still watch with him)

glued to his phone when you began talking to each other. when you weren’t there he was either texting you or calling you. he was scared you’d think it was annoying so after he feels like he’s too overbearing, he held back and sent less messages to “play it cool” but you send him a text saying i miss you :( so now he’s sending double the texts

study dates being how you spend 80% of your time with him. you’ll just be sitting near each other, going over notes or working on an assignment

during these study dates it’s mostly just silence, but occasionally either of you would break the quiet by asking the other one what they think of a certain line in an essay, etc.

if you like to cook, he would definitely try to learn from you. he’s very attentive but can get super distracted by your hands you are very good with them

(gf!ethan being fascinated by the way you handle knives for a different reason)

prefers to eat with you at yours or his apartment because he’s way more comfortable when you’re both alone (even if sometimes chad would interrupt)

surprisingly good at baking—he’s a natural and you’re even surprised when he tells you he’s never done it before. he has good baking instincts

you can’t help but kiss him when you come home early and he’s making you cupcakes for your birthday. he’s kinda sad tho bc he wanted it to be a surprise :( he made the buttercream and everything

after you become more comfortable w each other and get past that awkward stage, he cannot keep his hands off you. literally loves laying on you and putting his head in the crook of your neck

FOREHEAD KISSES

keeps a secret list of things you like even before you start dating. also some important information about you like if you have any allergies, dislikes, likes

he’s scared you might think it’s creepy but after you start dating you catch him typing on his phone while you’re talking about a pet peeve and you think he’s not paying attention so you sneak a glance at his phone and this man is literally typing it into his list

you grin so wide it’s kind of concerning, he tries to hide it from you but you pepper his face in kisses and that’s the first time you say i love you

he wanted to say i love you first but is kinda glad you beat him to it because he probably would’ve taken way longer

watches gordon ramsay shows with you (specifically kitchen nightmares and hotel hell)

right before senior year of college, your lease is about to end and at this point chad is about ready to move in with tara so ethan would have to look for a new place soon

you notice that things line up, and you’re both laying in bed talking about the future and it just clicks. you look at each other in unison with the same question on both your tongues.

“are you thinking what i’m thinking?” you ask.

he nods. after a momentary pause, he clarifies, “wait, you’re thinking we should move in together, right?”

you laugh. “yes, ethan. that’s what i’m thinking.”

“okay, good.”

i recently watched the bear and i am having MAJOR brainrot thinking about ethan working in a kitchen … he’s not anything like carmy but i just have a thing for chefs now !!!

him in an apron, running a kitchen with him, calling everybody ‘chef’ as a sign of respect.

you learn from each other as you both develop a new menu, sneaking glances at you while you cook, falling deeper in love with you while you talk about your background with food, you’d taken an interest to cooking as a kid.

chad, the pâtissier, watches from the sidelines with tara when you seem to be in your own world with ethan.

“you think they’re doin’ it?” chad whispers to tara.

she playfully slaps his arm, laughing. “not yet, probably. look at the way he’s looking while they’re not paying attention.”

she’s right, ethan only stares at you when you’re not looking.

before the crack of dawn, you and ethan are the first there to start prep.

when restocking the walk-in, he’s hauling crates of meat and mindy catches you practically drooling over his arms and she’s raising her eyebrows at you.

everybody in the kitchen is sick of you two dancing around each other, waiting for the time one of you finally get the courage to confess before they take matters into their own hands.

omg just wanted to let you know i’m obsessed with your user and everything bc spiderman ethan has been giving me major brainrot recently!!! this isn’t a request or anything!!! just an idea i wanted to share!!! but i love thinking about like no way home aus where ethan meets spider-sidney and spider-tara and finding out that like he and his s/o exist in their universes and they make it/fall in love in every single one of them (like in tara’s universe they’re co-class presidents and midtown high’s it couple and they’re newly married in sidney’s) LIKE GAH i just think it’s so cute sorry if that was annoying (also i love your work like i’m obsessed)

i can see ethan coming face to face with his friends from different universes and they’re spider-people like him!! and they ask him how y/n is doing in his universe because in their universe(s) they’re very very close and wouldn’t leave each other’s side :( and ethan had been thinking about asking y/n out for some time and upon finding out that they’re soulmates basically in every universe, it’s the final push he needs to confess. OMG i am obsessed.

ou i just got an idea like what if he met a different universe y/n who is also a spider-person and he finds out that this y/n lost their ethan 😮 oh god

HIII it’s me the spider-ethan anon lol i wasn’t logged on in the web browser so i was an anon BUT I FULLY SUPPORT YOU WRITING THIS AND TAKING CREATIVE LIBERTY but i also hope it’s okay to share my vision too?? which btw you don’t have to use these!! it’s just cause i had two different routes i imagined this taking!!!

but spider-ethan is very similar to andrew garfield’s spider-man in terms of inspiration so there was one angsty one where he couldn’t save his s/o (like peter couldn’t save gwen) but meeting the other spider-heroes was like what he needed to help grieve properly and move on, like he got the closure he needed knowing other versions of him and his s/o made it.

and the other version is like where ethan DID save his s/o and sorta going through a reflection of his past, present, and future through the other spider-heroes. bc in each universe where they’re supers, tara is a senior in high school, ethan a sophomore in college, and sidney is around scream v canon age!!! and ethan had known his s/o since they were sophomores in high school and meeting his variants is what gives him to push to be unafraid of the future and really embrace the relationship (like moving in together, marriage talk, etc)
