Hello! I’m sending this around; please feel free to join in the fun, but no obligation at all!
Ethan something, and then Meera yells:
“You couldn’t even pay me to do that!”
Ethan: “Not even for me?”
Meera: “Not even for you!”
What did Ethan say to start this exchange?

"Hey, did you receive the AMA's invitation for the conference, Rookie?" Ethan asked, getting comfortable at the dinner table.
"Yeah I did," Meera said, serving the pasta on their respective plates, "it's on the 3rd right?"
"It is, but did you look at the list of speakers?"
Meera stopped mid bite scrunching up her nose to think about it, "I did skimp over it, why was there someone notable?"
"So you missed it," Ethan handed Meera his phone. "Not your fault though he can easily be missed until he sends you the invitation personally."
Meera read the email on his screen, her brows furrowing at the sender's name. "Landry is speaking at a panel?!" her voice nearing the decibel to be classified as a scream.
"Uh-huh."
"And why did he send you this?"
"No idea."
"That son of a bitch," Meera angrily stabbed at the shrimp on her plate.
"Soooooooo," Ethan reached for her hand, "you coming?"
"Yeah, real funny Ramsey," Meera untangles her hand from his, "you couldn’t even pay me to do that!”
“Not even for me?”
“Not even for you!”
"Too bad, I would have loved to see you tear him and his research apart," Ethan's face now enlightened with a smirk.
As the wheels in her brains started turning Meera turned to look at her husband matching his grin. "So what you are implying is that I should follow your footsteps?"
"What I'm saying is it wouldn't hurt to keep up family traditions and I know you would make me proud."
Ethan picks up his glass and Meera clinks her in celebratory cheers.
"Your definition of family tradition is really fucked up babe, but you know what? You have me intrigued," she says chuckling as she finishes the rest of her wine.
"There still remains one problem though," Meera's face suddenly serious. "I'll have to read the shit storm of his research without throwing up."
The utter seriousness in Meera's tone resulted in a cackling laughter from the other Ramsey.
"Need some help, love?" Ethan asks once he regains his breath.
"To squish a rat beneath my foot? No thank you."
Thank you so much if you have read till here, it means the world to me. Hope to see you go on other different adventures with me, Ethan and Meera, till then sending love and hugs your way! ❤️
"History is blessing as an inspiration, & disaster as an excuse".
Since we at Indies devote part of our time here online, to being film historians & not real life historians, & since there has anyway been a scarcity of historical film material produced thru time, to entertainingly hook our audiences in to our enthralling past/culture, not just in the new millennia but even in the golden b&w age of cinema, we would like to take the cinematic liberty of defining history, not per the strict parameters imposed on real history /antiquity researchers, but a milder set of rules, namely:
1. The films should be largely based on broadly accepted & popular real set of events or incidents & people, from society - if not with exact places & dates or names altogether.
2. The stories passing on thru time, mostly via linked textual references, must have a broad acceptance in culture as inspiring reality, even w/o empirical tangible evidences to establish their authenticity, & despite contrary, or dismissive, lesser popular claims in circulation.
3. The amount of magic, not just metaphoric but real magical qualities, attributed to humans narrated via these stories, must be restricted to a bare minimum & atleast not form a crux of the film (as such stories already find a hallowed place in Indies Mythological Films section).
PS. Few of the below listed films, were released in dual languages, incl Hindi, back in the day, even if only non-Hindi versions available for viewership today.
PS. There are a very small few old b&w (assumed not confirmed) historical films from 1930s & 1940s era coming across as impressive at just poster or casting look, but with no prints available for public view, nor any journalistic literature of the time to gain more insight, very hard to include them at Indies so.
PS. Jfyi. The 2 most prominent Bollywood Historical masters to emerge post this exclusive Indie historical collation, lending this all-time research much density, are- Paidi Jairaj followed by Bharat Bhushan! Each with a handful historical films placed atop or very high up the all-time list !

Positivity drive! Name a few MCs apart from your own whom you love and relate to and why.
I got this ask from an anon so here ya go! ❤🥰🙌🥳
Hey, thank you so much for asking @adiehardfan. LOVING this ask going around, it truly spreads so much positivity.
First of all, shoutout to both of your own MCs– OH and LoA, though I kinda like your laws MC maybe a littul 🤏 bit more than your OH one 😂😂, but they're both stunningly talented women. Absolutely stan.
Coming to the rest, Dr. Claire Herondale by @perriewinklenerdie. The FIRST EVER MC in the fandom that I fell in love with. She'll forever be special.
Dr. Leah Garcia by @drethanramslay. I mean PLEASE! The face claim is Deepika, and she's one of my favourite actresses as well as people, so... you can't really blame me. Plus, Ethan calls Leah sunshine! SUNSHINE!!! That gave me the idea to call my crush sunshine and 👀 they haven't complained till date 😏.
@anonymousrookie 's Dr. Keegan Reed. LOVE HER. Just the way the writer writes her, and Keegan's whole "I'll get under your skin but I'll also be cute and profound" vibe resonates with me so much! Her actions just make sense.
@stygianflood 's Dr. Aparna Mukherjee. She's A FORCE. I feel like she's that kind of a person who can turn every single head and command the room as soon as steps in, with the sheer weight and grace of her presence. Respect to her.
Dr. Diana Ramirez by @gryffindordaughterofathena. You... you know eggzactly why I like your MC, other than the fact that the face claim is you. I won't even elaborate Diana owns a house in my heart.
Dr. Meera Bose by @headoverheelsforramsey. She's one of the cutest and most fun MCs I have encountered here, just can't get enough.
@monsoonblooms12 and her Dr. Pooja Sharma. I can't even‐ I get emotional every time I think about this pair cause I just adore the Pooja fanfics so much. Pure ✨feels✨.
Dr. Anj Valentine by @lawyerlies. She's so pretty, so bada**, and like... FORMER MISS WORLD??? Take my non-existent credit card.
@katkart122 's Dr. Christopher Kaneko. I read one fic yesterday. ONE. It was written in script form, and it was about the Dolores chapter... I WAS DED. Legit like I– Idk why I was so late to this, but I can't wait to read more. Also, it's a rainbow ship, so my poor herat 🥺🥺🥺.
Special mentions to @jamespotterthefirst @jerzwriter @genevievemd @irisofpurple I don't personally relate a lot to your MCs, though they're the most awesome people, but just the skill of your writing really makes it all so... *breaks into tears* powerful! Passionate! Emotional! *still sobbing* Love you all, you're my favourite writers.
I'm sure I still missed mentioning so many people, but all of you are very much appreciated. I'll probably keep on adding names as I remember lol. Good day <3.
Submission for @choices-february2023 Day 27 : Strawberry
Alone on Valentine's Day? Celebrate love through food and drinks with our Open Heart Gang. Set in Book 1.
A/N : Is it too late for Valentine's Day post? Maybe. Will that stop me from posting? No. Shoutout to @peonierose for the lovely picture prompt used in Sienna's post. ❤️
Submission for @choicesjanuarychallenge day 13 all 3 prompts.
The picture above is a candid from their engagement party that Tobias clicked. He sent it to Ethan instead of Meera and he has been saving it for a special occasion.
Here is what the birthday girl has been upto this year :
This is her last birthday before marriage. Same time next year she is officially Dr. Mrs. Ramsey. (how hot is that?)
Ethan and Meera had decided to avoid materialistic gifts for Christmas this year, so Ethan's Christmas gift to Meera was flying in her parents over from India.
They are scheduled to stay till 20th of January which means, Meera gets to spend her birthday with her parents after 4 years.
Her mom cooks all of her favourite Bengali delicacies like polao, kosha mangsho and especially payesh. Ethan learns all the recipes for future reference.
Her friends, cousin Lina, Naveen, Alan everyone comes over for lunch and devour her mother's cooking.
Later Lina drives back to NYC with Meera's parents so that the couple can have some alone time.
Finally caveman Ramsey comes out to play and they get down and dirty. 🥵
And this is what Ethan got Meera:
Trust me when I say I wanted to make edits for all of these but semester exams started from yesterday and this is all I could do. Also exams means I'll be on hiatus for around a month, thank you all for all the love on the latest fic. I'll get back to replying, catching up with your works and asks in February. 💜
Rubyyy! After months of starting several wips and completing none, I finally completed one last night and I am so excited to share it, tysm for this ask. Love you! 💜
Honest Mistake
"But who is she?" Sienna asked, quickly stealing a glance.
"That question has been burning in my mind since morning!" Meera replied. "Who is she and why the hell is she flirting with my fiancé?"
As if on cue the three heard a very hearty laugh which undoubtedly was from the woman with Ethan and she even dared to pat his shoulder playfully.
As the three rolled their eyes Sienna chirped, "jeez, go easy on the PDA, the man has a ring on him."
"Should I reverse image search her?" Jackie suggested, "because looks like the identity of this mystery woman is eating your soul."
"Who, she?" a third voice made Meera look up, she was greeted with Tobias' smug face.
"That's Dr. Emily Chester," he informed.
"Who?" the girls said, collectively.
"Professionally or personally?" Tobias asked, but Meera's glare didn't make him wait for an answer.
"Both. Got it. Professionally, she is one of the biggest names in endocrinology. Personally?" Tobias deliberately stopped enjoying Meera's agony a little too much. "She was at Hopkins, a couple years junior to us, and she had a huge thing for Ethan."

Chapter 6
Tobias Carrick didn’t expect to meet his long lost friend turned foe today, certainly not under the humongous roof of the third richest man in America, competing against him for the sake of saving his hospital. Yet, here he was, staring at Ethan Ramsey in flesh and blood. He looks like he hasn’t aged a day, though the beard and glasses make him look more matured than he acts to be.
Hirata and Mirani following Ramsey like puppies as usual. He recognises the other doctor, from their encounter at the deli a few days back. He did not learn her name, but was shocked to see her as a part of one of the most prestigious diagnostic team in the country. A resident in her second year missing out trivial diagnosis like cyanosis, did Edenbrook and Ethan Ramsey forget how to teach?
He was enjoying this little arrangement that Bloom came up with, never missing out on a chance to one-up Ethan Ramsey. But when his “friend” stormed out the heavy wooden doors he was not surprised but disappointed. He was rather shocked when his protege followed him without thinking twice.
Before following Mr. Bloom inside he could see Ramsey and Bose in a heated argument through the glass panels. He was surprised further because in all the years he had known Ethan Ramsey he had never seen an attending talk to him that way, much less a resident, had his “friend” changed that much? His surprise continued when Ramsey came back for a chance to crack this case, but he didn’t let his face show. Does this mere resident have special persuasion powers? He decided to put his head in the game instead, because he was playing to see his “friend” lose.
Chapter 8
The sun shone brightly, the smell of hot dogs and beers engulfing the atmosphere this was one day in a year, Tobias pretends he followed his childhood dream of playing softball professionally. The doctors from both the hospitals mingled about, he had so many people to greet but in the sea of known and unknown people he certainly didn’t expect Ethan Ramsey to be there.
He has been going against Edenbrook for almost half a decade and never in all those years had he ever seen or ever expected the infamous Dr. Ramsey to grace them with his presence. What changed? He thought and almost immediately saw Meera Bose beside Ethan.
She was a decent player he thought, throwing the first pitch and being responsible for Tobias Carrick’s out was enough proof of that. But he couldn’t ignore the small smile at the corner of his “friend’s” lips whenever Bose threw a perfect pitch.
Old habit’s die hard and Tobias thought rubbing the case of Stephanie Hill while grabbing a water was the perfect plan. He raised an eyebrow when the young resident said “paitent care isn’t a game.” Good to know Ramsey passed down his virtues to his residents. But the fire he saw in Bose’s eyes on mentioning her friend’s betrayal mirrored the fire he had witnessed in his own “friend’s” eyes more than ten years ago due to a different betrayal.
The fight had grown heated but when Ethan took a protective stance in front of Meera giving Terrance a death threat Tobias was astounded. He had known this man for a very long time, was Ramsey falling for her? Because he hadn’t seen him this defensive since… before he could finish that thought, chaos broke free.
The final innings could have gone better, but one thing that always set Carrick apart from Ramsey was the ability to accept defeat. He watched as Bose ran towards the Edenbrook clan, her friends and colleague wrapping her up. As he turned to leave he watched Ethan join the crowd his eyes soft on Meera’s browns a playful smile on his lips, hands brushing lightly. Tobias’s earlier suspicion returned and as a diagnostician he thought he had an answer, but as one of Ethan Ramsey’s oldest “friend” he could do with some more evidence.
Chapter 9
Logging into his tablet, Tobias looked suspiciously at the recent activity. Ethan Ramsey, at Kenmore? He didn’t have any ongoing research projects and Ethan is not the type of man who likes to take an afternoon walk around the neighborhood.
“Doctor, the patient is ready for you,” the nurse called. Tobias nodded, opening his new patient chart and getting to work, making a mental note of catching up with Ramsey before he leaves the premises.
Tobias stopped Dr. Simpson in the middle of his presentation, was that Meera Bose? He rushed out of the patient room following her still not believing his eyes. But when he saw Mirani with her he knew something was up. Three members of the Edenbrook diagnostic team cannot be behind enemy lines at the same time co-inccidently. Calling security Tobias makes a run for it.
The two doctors make a narrow escape and he comes out just in time to see his “friend” zoom away from under his nose.
“Well played Ramsey, we’ll get you next time.”
Chapter 11
The news of Senator Ed and and his aide had spread like wildfire. Transfer patients from Edenbrook kept Tobias fairly busy, but he didn’t know why his thoughts drifted back to Meera.
“How was she doing?”
“Did they have any answers at all?”
“Is she not going to make it?”
“How was… how was Ethan doing?”
Tobias found himself choking on his own breath. In need of fresh air, he put down his tablet and took shelter in a supply closet. He doesn’t remember when was the last time he was here. More unpleasant thoughts circled his brain, Tobias punched the door out of frustration and helplessness. The door opened, and Aurora came in, the frustration and helplessness reflected on her face made Tobias decide that it was time to set aside all the age-old differences between him and Ethan and their respective hospitals.
Nothing less than a crowd was formed in front of the patient room. All of Meera’s friends, family and well-wishers stood by her side. All of them dejected and crestfallen. Ethan Ramsey stood at the forefront his heart burdened with melancholy, but too stubborn to show it in his face. Tobias had known his “friend” long enough to see right through the facade.
Tobias straightened his face, “and you won’t be alone.”
Ramsey’s face shifts from shock to thankful in a mili second and Tobias stops him right there. Everyone says their goodbye one by one and follows Baz and June into the lab. Tobias notices his “friend” not making a move.
“Shouldn’t we call Dr. Ramsey?” one of the doctors suggest.
“No. He should be there with her,” Tobias smiled. “This is where he will do the most good. Besides, I know what I am doing.” He flashes his signature smile only to receive an eye roll from Hirata.
Tobias monitored the sodium-potassium level, no this won’t work, he shaked his head. Facing another dead end, he decided its better to take a small break before getting back to work. He exited the lab and walked towards Meera’s room. The corridor lights had been dimmed, he felt like a ghost wandering the halls. He stopped in front of the window, only to see Ethan all suited up, holding Meera as close as he humanly could with the plastic barrier in between them.
He needed no more confirmations. He was sure his “friend” had fallen head over heels for Meera. It had been a long time since he had been this candid with someone, it had been so long since someone had broken all of his walls and reached for his heart and it had been so long since Ethan’s heart had shattered. Tobias was immature back then and partly responsible for what had happened but today he was not going to let that happen a second time. With renewed determination Tobias walked back towards the lab.
Just like Tobias had guessed, Ethan was still there in his hazmat suit helping Meera vomit into a basin when they returned the next morning. The child-like grin on his face on hearing about the antidote was unlike him. Tobias explained the chemistry behind their discovery, expecting atleast a couple questions from Ethan but the absence of that made him realize that he was a changed man. The sheer delight on Ethan Ramsey’s face as he administered the serum was one of a kind. He and Meera locked eyes, a silent understanding between them.
The waiting part was the worst, but once the latest lab results showed no trace of toxin in Bose’s bloodstream the entire team gathered around the patient room. Ethan sprinted through the doors, and Meera flew into his arms, tears breaking free. Ethan looked outside holding Tobias’ gaze for a little longer than necessary, while Tobias returned his signature smirk.
Chapter 17
The rumor mill had a field day with the news that the great Ethan Ramsey had kissed a resident, Meera Bose in an atrium full of people. While the betting pool regarding how long they were dating and whether Meera slept her way to the top were the hottest topic in and around the hospital, Tobias Carrick was just content that his diagnostic skills remained undefeated and he still knew his "friend" through and through.
Thank you so much if you have read till here, it means the world to me. Hope to see you go on other different adventures with me, Ethan and Meera, till then sending love and hugs your way! ❤️
A/N : I received this ask quite some time back and have been meaning to write something for it forever. Happy Valentine's Day everyone, hope you like this, and also Happy Reading. ❤️
Submission to @choicesficwriterscreations Valentine's Day event, @choices-february2023 Day 14 : Valentine's Day and @choicesmonthlychallenge : To Be or Not to Be (prompts used : hell no, not happening & never which will appear in bold)
Ethan Ramsey put down his pen to pick up his phone. The name on the screen instantly bringing a smile to his face.
She is right, he thought. Typing in a quick reply he grabbed his coat and left his office.
He walked into Donahue’s, scanning the crowd for Meera, but instead he was greeted with the unfamiliar red and pink decorations and the cheering and hollering of a crowd. He pinched the bridge of his nose suddenly recalling that the upcoming consumerist trap of a holiday was just round the corner. He was reevaluating whether leaving his silent office was a wise decision when his eyes landed on Meera. Ethan pushed through the crowd to reach the booth she was seated at with her friends.
“There you are!” Meera pulled him in for a kiss.
“This place is packed,” he commented taking a seat.
“Yeah, why not? Reggie is giving out free drinks,” Elijah informed.
“Really?” Ethan said in disbelief.
“Not just like that, you have to earn it,” Aurora added.
“Earn it?”
“You have to beat your partner in a staring contest!” Bryce said. Ethan’s face showed that it was the stupidest thing he had ever heard.
“It’s for Valentine’s Day!” Sienna exclaimed, “also, we think you and Meera should totally put your names down!”
A wave of excited murmur went around the group.
“Hell no!” Ethan protested, “ is this why you brought me here?” he asked Meera.
“I mean, not exactly,” Meera paused, “but free dinks never hurt anybody.”
“Yes!”
“Amen!” Her friends shouted in support.
Ethan shook his head, “Meera, you are still working, you can’t even drink!”
“We can!” Jackie stated the obvious. “And trust me, broke residents like us could really use a free round of drinks.”
“If that is so I can happily buy all of you a round,” Ethan offered desperte to get out of this situation.
“But you know there is absolutely nothing like free drinks!” Bryce explained earning another round of supportive cheers from the group.
“So it’s settled then you guys are entering the competition!” Sienna shouted in a sing-song manner.
“Not happening,” Ethan repeated.
“Do it. DO IT. DO IT!” as the younger doctors started cheering Ethan looked helplessly at Meera, who was enjoying his misery a little too much.
She lowered her voice, so that only he can hear, “What? Afraid of a little friendly competition, Ramsey.”
He locked eyes with her, the mischief glinting in the pair of brown orbs.
“Fine!” he finally declared, earning claps and wolf whistles from the group.
Bryce does the honour of putting their names on the list and while everyone patiently wait for their turn, Ethan slides upto Meera, “I can’t believe I agreed to this.”
“Well you better start believing, because you are going down Ramsey.”
“Is that a challenge?”
“Could be,” Meera shrugs.
As the last couple break their stare, Reggie goes upto the makeshift stage. “Well, next on the list we have Meera Bose and…,” he gives a long pause, his eyes falling on Ethan, expression a mixture of amusement and confusion. “Well I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Ethan Ramsey!”
As the people in the bar cheer, their friends being the loudest, Ethan and Meera take their respective positions at the ends of a table.
“Ready to lose?” Meera smirked.
“Never,” Ethan replied.
“All right your time starts now!” Reggie announces.
They locked eyes, the chaos of the bar fade away, focusing on each other only. None knew how much time had passed but they refused to give up. As more and more time passed, the enthusiasm and excitement of the crowd died down.
“I gotta admit this is getting kinda boring,” Aurora remarked.
“Well atleast they are lasting much longer than the other couples,” Bryce said.
“Guys come on!” Jackie had reached the end of her patience, “we’ll be the ones getting the free drinks, it dosen’t matter which one of you win, just break it off already!”
“I have a feeling pitting these two against each other wasn’t a good idea,” Sienna sighed.
“God, I hope there is a miracle,” Elijah could hardly finish when two pagers went off together.
Ethan and Meera’s brows knitted as realization dawned upon them.
“Sometimes I hate my job,” Meera said still not breaking eye contact.
“It’s okay we can pick this up again sometime later,” Ethan reassured.
As if on mutual understanding the couple broke eye contact answering their respective pagers.
“It’s done, Reggie, give us our alcohol,” Jackie demanded.
“It was a tie,” Reggie announced earning a groan from the group.
“Oh come on! You know the drinks would be ours irrespective of either of them winning,” Bryce reasoned.
“Sorry, against the rules,” Reggie replied.
As the group continued arguing Ethan turned to Meera, “we need to go.” She mouthed a sorry to her enraged group of friends walking out of the bar. The last thing she could hear was Aurora going, “that is so unfair.”
“Well you’ll have to buy them drinks sometime,” Meera said to Ethan as they were making their way back to the hospital.
“No way, I offered them at the beginning, they declined and I had to go through all this, no way I am offering them again.”
“So you are saying you didn’t enjoy staring into my eyes at all.”
“I did, but next time, I’d prefer not being surrounded by drunk strangers.”
Much later, the team leaves the diagnostic office after Ethan dismisses them. He comes upto Meera who is packing up her belongings. “Great solve on that one, I’ll admit it was a little tricky.”
“Thanks!” Meera grinned, “I’m just trying to learn as much as I can from the very best.”
Ethan smiles proudly, pecking his girlfriend’s cheek. “Anyways you go home, I’ll stay back a little longer. I want to monitor Mr. Huxley for a couple of hours. I am a little worried about his BP, we will have to change the NSAIDS dosage if it plummets.”
Meera nodded silently, going over the patient chart once again. “Why don’t I stay back and you go home?”
“No it’s fine, you have had a long shift.”
“So have you. Look, I am the junior member of the team, it’s my job. You promised you won’t go easy on me just because I’m your girlfriend.”
“You are right,” Ethan wrapped his arms around her, “I can’t risk playing favourites and have HR breathing down my neck.”
“Imagine! What a dreadful allegation,” Meera laughed.
“Fine, you stay, but run by me before you make any changes to the dosage.”
“Yes sir!”
“And come back to my apartment, you still have a staring contest to lose, rookie.”
“We will see about that.”
Meera entered the condo, putting her keys down on the countertop.
“Babe! I’m home!” she called out, only to be returned with silence. She started searching the rooms until finally going into the bedroom. The door to the bathroom was slightly ajar and she could hear the water running, “so there you are.”
Ethan walked out, in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, “sorry I couldn't hear you from inside.”
Meera’s breath got stuck and god knows how many beats her heart skipped. Her eyes moving down from his collar bones, perfect abs and lower.
“Like what you see?” Ethan’s voice breaking her haze. “I believe we have a little game to continue.”
“This is so not fair,” Meera protested.
“Everything is fair in love and war, my dear.”
Ethan moved closer, leaving an almost non existent gap between them. They lock eyes. Ethan smirking on getting the upper hand, while Meera fighting her human instincts to close the gap between them and throw the towel away. A few seconds later she blinks.
“You lose, I win,” Ethan looks at Meera hungrily, “now I get to claim my price.”
He tilts her face and their lips fit like perfect puzzle pieces. As Meera melts into the kiss she makes quick work of the towel thinking how it was a win-win situation for her.
Thank you so much if you have read till here, it means the world to me. Hope to see you go on other different adventures with me, Ethan and Meera, till then sending love and hugs your way! ❤️
Based on my real life experience today - I have an ask.
Ethan accidentally because he'd never be this much of a dick says "He needs to babysit" their kids and your MC overhears this.
How does your MC react?
Okay. First of all Ethan would never actually say something like this but I am giving into imagination for a moment.
So if you know about my Future Careers HC, Meera had to fight pretty hard for the director of the trauma centre title, while being pregnant. She actually never got to enjoy it because soon after she went for maternity leave, leaving Naveen to handle it while she was gone. Now coming back into work she was not only nervous about working again but also doubly nervous since it was a new job all over again. At this she suffered with low self esteem and worth issues because she felt like a failure as both a mother and a director.
Finally to take her mind off things, her girls arranged for a girl's night of trashy reality shows, drinks and all the gossips she had missed while being on leave. Ethan was supposed to watch Ishaan, and Meera heard him talk about babysitting his own kid while speaking with a board member. Ethan didn't know she was around, but he was in for a storm when he picked up Ishaan from daycare and decided to say goodbye to Meera before heading home.
"Okay we are all set," Ethan walked through the automatic doors of his wife's new office, carrying his son and the diaper bag.
Meera looked up from her laptop a stone cold expression in her eyes. Without uttering a single word she focused back on her work.
Ethan was confused. The Meera he knew would have come running to hug both him and Ishaan shouted a million instructions and finally give each of them a goodnight kiss before saying bye.
"Rookie, are you okay?" Ethan took a seat across from her looking genuinely confused. "Did anyone say anything?" Ethan knew about how harsh Edenbrook had been since Meera returned to work, and how often it affected his wife's mood.
"Can I have your phone for a minute Ethan?" Meera said, her voice even colder than her glare.
Without any hesitation Ethan placed his phone on her table. He watched as his wife fidgeted with it for just a couple minutes, before handing it back to him.
"I just deleted all the numbers of our babysitters."
Ethan tried saying something but he was so lost he couldn't figure out what would be the best response.
"Since we have you as a babysitter, I figured we wouldn't need another one, given we live together and the baby literally has your DNA," Meera's voice reaching a higher decibel.
It then dawned on Ethan. It had been so trivial he had actually forgotten he had said something like that. Now that he is sitting face to face with the woman who had nurtured and raised his baby for nine months and had undergone hours of labour and pain to bring a new life into the world all he could feel was shame and remorse.
"Meera I---"
"Save it Ethan," Meera didn't need to know what he was about to say. She got up from her desk, packed up her things and took over Ishaan from Ethan. "And yes, please do name your price," her voice cracked tears threatening to break free, "because trust me Ethan I can afford it."
With that Dr. Meera Bose Ramsey walked out of her office, cradling her son, tears streaming her face, and all the ever so bright and genius Ethan Ramsey could do was stare at her retreating figure, hanging his head in shame.
This turned out into a little drabble that I didn't plan on lol. I'm putting my taglist since it has been ages since I posted.

Intern Year
Ethan Ramsey walked into the secluded new wing of the hospital, where he kept one of his biggest secrets under covers. From the far end of the corridor, he could see his patient X struggling to put something on the doorway.
"Naveen," his deep baritone voice cut through the silence.
"Oh didn't see you there," the older doctor replied.
"What are you upto?"
"You know, just trying to get some holiday cheer in here. It gets terribly lonely sometimes," Naveen smiled but Ethan could see the sadness behind his brown orbs.
Ethan looked around the rather small hospital room. 'Holiday Cheer' in forms of red, green and golden had taken over quite well.
"Wow, did you do all this by yourself?"
"Well, I have had some help."
Ethan then looked down at the green bunch in his hand as realisation dawned upon him.
"Mistletoe? Really Naveen?" he pinched the bridge of his nose. "You very well know me and Dr. Bose are the only people who come through these doors."
"Hey don't shout at an old-sick man trying to decorate for Christmas. And also, I have seen the way you look at her. Why beat…" Naveen doubled down coughing, cutting off his own words.
Ethan catches hold of him helping him onto the bed, bringing the oxygen mask near his face.
"Oh my God!" Meera exclaimed. "How did this happen? We were just decorating for Christmas sometime back!"
"I think we are past the point of hows and whys," Ethan's voice stern and cold. "Please prepare a shot of Nitroglycerine and I need a full workup to know what went wrong."
"Yes, doctor," Meera said timidly before scurrying off to get to work.
Both the doctors worked in sync putting all they had in them to get their patient to stabilize. While reaching for the needles Meera's foot collided with something. She looked down to see the mistletoe, forgotten and abandoned on the floor. Confused and slightly hopeful she looked upto her mentor, only to find him barking another order at her. She gulped down her emotions, shoving the mistletoe under the bed, into the darkness where it belongs.
Second Year
The sound of an ongoing party welcomed Ethan as he parked his car opposite the brownstone building. He turned off the ignition and got out, looking around to make sure his presence remained as discreet as possible.
He shot a silent text, waiting on the doorstep.
"Hi!" his favourite voice in the entire world greeted him.
He looked up to see Meera, clad in a red and green holiday pajama. It astonished him that she could wear the most ridiculous of outfits and even then she'll always remain the most beautiful woman he has ever laid his eyes on.
"Hey, you look …," he trailed off searching his brain for the perfect word, "... nice."
Meera chuckled, such a vast vocabulary and that's what he finds to compliment her.
"You know you are not supposed to be here right? My roommates are just upstairs."
"I know. But I just wanted to see you and…," he hands her a wrapped package.
"Oh my God! Is this a Christmas present from the great Ethan Ramsey?!" Meera teased.
"Okay, I regret it already."
"Don't worry babe, this is a step in the right direction," Meera assured.
"Oh! What a lovely couple!" Mrs. Burton, Meera's elderly neighbour exclaimed. "and look," she pointed upwards, "a mistletoe! Hope you kids can keep up with Christmas traditions."
The couple put on polite smiles as Mrs. Burton made her way up the stairs and moved out of earshot.
"So, what do you say Ramsey? You up for this?" Meera winked.
"Come here," Ethan leaned in close, cupping Meera's face in his hand, lips merely a breath away, when… "Meera! Are you done there? We are about to start the movie," the voice of her roomate along with heavy footsteps echoed around the stairwell.
"I'm sorry," Meera mouthed before breaking away from his embrace and closing the door shut. She heaved a sigh of relief before shouting, "yes I'm almost there."
"Who was it?"
"Just an Amazon package."
As the sounds of Meera and her roommate's conversation faded away, Ethan Ramsey couldn't help but smile to himself. He felt like a teenager all over again with this secret relationship. No, he felt younger, livelier when he was with Meera.
He looked back one last time before making his way back to his car when he noticed the mistletoe on the ground. Must've fallen down when Meera hurriedly shut the door he thought, picking it up and putting it inside his coat right over his heart where it belonged.
Third Year
"Are you almost done with it?' Sarah shouts at Marlene as she holds onto the stool Marlene is currently standing upon trying her best to stick the mistletoe onto the ceiling.
"Will you just be patient? This has to go perfectly!" Marlene says climbing down and standing back to admire her handiwork.
"Girl, you are way too invested in this."
"Duh! Did you even see their kiss at the hopeful hearts gala?! It was to die for! And since then there wasn't even an ounce of PDA between them, like how is that even possible? So excuse me if I try to recreate it with a little Christmas cheer." Marlene explained breathlessly.
"Geez!" Sarah retorted.
"Okay, Marc! Is everything going according to plan? Is the intel we collected earlier still true?"
"Absolutely!" another nurse joined the conversation. "As per our plan Dr. Bose is scheduled to pick up labs for patient 1973 in about seven minutes, whereas Dr. Ramsey will be done with his consult in room 6204 around the same time. Therefore according to my calculation they are supposed to cross path in about 4 minutes and 17 seconds right here," Marc looks up mischievously at the mistletoe.
"Amazing!" Marlene claps him in the back. "Okay everyone, I want all of you in your respective positions, cameras in hand. But pretend to be busy, this is Ramsey we are talking about if he smells even something in the slightest, this can take a disastrous turn."
The nurses make themselves busy, keeping an eye on the lookout for Edenbrook's most famous couple.
In about a little over three minutes Ethan Ramsey marches down the corridor, eyes glued to a patient chart. Meera Bose on the other hand is looking down at her phone making her way from the opposite direction. Their eyes lay on each other, exchanging a small smile they quicken their pace to reach each other faster. Until they walk right into the trap.
"Look at the holiday miracle!" Marlene exclaims, looking at the mistletoe, "I hope you both can bring in a little Christmas cheer, for us working on this glorious holiday." She bats her eyes.
"Absolutely not!" Ethan declares and Meera finds herself too surprised to talk.
"Come on Dr. Ramsey for the Christmas spirit!" one of the nurses shouted.
"Yes!"
"You have to!"
"Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
More and more nurses join in.
Ethan looks at Meera, half helpless and half confused.
"Okay! Everyone stop!" Ethan's voice changing to Dr. Terminator's. "What is wrong with you people? This is a hospital!"
"What he means to say is," Meera says. "We are happy to get into the Christmas spirit!"
The nurses start clapping, a ripple of excitement going among them.
"Seriously Meera?" Ethan rolls his eyes.
Meera reaches for his hands, "it's okay babe, it's just a kiss."
Shaking his head Ethan leans in determined to just place a quick peck and then admonish the nursing staff for inappropriate workplace behaviour. But when Meera met him halfway, he was in for a surprise. Meera went deep, cupping his face and pulling him close until she was out of breath. They break apart to the cheers of the nurses.
"Meera! What the hell?" he said in a whisper, face almost scarlet.
"We have to give people what they want," she winked.
Ethan cleared his throat when the cheers died down. "Well… that's enough holiday cheer for one day, now get back to work everyone." With that he turned on his heels and made his way out.
"You heard the man," Meera said. "Get back to work people!"
