Amar a Muerte-Eva Carvajal
I'm old. And while I grow up, I did it watching novelas. Mostly because in my country we used to have something that we called Perubolica (cable but we got mostly from Peru's). So I got a decent amount of understanding of novelas as a whole. I stop watching them 5 years ago(That's why I didn't knew Barbara and Maca until AAM); but i believe the format is the same. And there's an unspoken rule on there; and is that the female villain gets the same bad ending than the male villain. Sometimes even worst. That happen because telenovelas are focus to women. That's their target. So everyone can relate to the main female woman that is nice(most of the time poor) and gets her happy ending with the rich guy. And the female villain is attacking directly our main. So yeah sometimes they got the worst ending. That's why Eva´s ending got me so much.
Eva was bad. And Leonardo manage to put her as a villain to almost all the main characters of the show. She was against Lucia; she went against Renata and Guille and also against Juliantina. Thanks to Lucho she was the one that influenced juliantina´s break up and that's how all the angst that our favorites experienced at the end of the Amar a Muerte.
But Eva got the opportunity to grow up; to become better. She turn herself to the cops (after talking with Jacobo and her siblings). She manage to pay for her debts (her own choice). And she got to be near her daughter at the end, with who I believe is now her ex husband. And that's at least for me new and amazing. Because is nice to see a character that can be redeem by her own choices.
So focusing only on Eva Carvajal; I would said that I love her ending. Obviously there's more I would love to see (mostly her accepting Juliana and Renata). Asking for forgiveness to the people she hurt. But in overall was amazing to have that for the female main villain. I think that decision was made because Eva was the main characters daughter; not a love interest; but still. I take this opportunity to said that Claudia did an amazing job and her portrait of Eva was chef kiss.
What makes (at least for me) a bittersweet ending is the fact that she have to go by this while Belchino doesn't have to do anything to prove that he changed. That he deserves the happy life he got to experience.
Jonny got what he deserves, and thats ok; and Eva got the opportunity to redeem herself; but all that grow is taken away when you compared that with Belchino.
So yeah, I love what they did with Eva; I hate that Belchino was a worst character but got a better ending.
