Controversy

So I've seen some contrasting viewpoints regarding the moments between Fallon and Liam in last night's episodes. Some say he was out of line, some say he was fine. I'm going to analyze the context before and after the moment.

Upfront I will also say I like and support both pairings. I don't want one over the other, I just want Fallon to live her best life and be happy. She's good with or without a man. But I've seen a lot of people instantly blaming Liam and there are two sides to the story.

So first of all, the biggest argument of all. Yes she was engaged. Yes she was a bit drunk, and yes she was vulnerable. But it's not bad black and white on the latter 2.

Though the episode we see Liam being supportive and looking out for Her, and we see Culhane sneaking around. Yes we know the reason he was being suspicious was because of blackmail. She confronted Culhane at the divorce party about him possibly having a secret. In a means to protect Her, he deflects. She counters with hearing that woman's voice on the phone. As viewers we know this was Ada, who is blackmailing Culhane into shady stuff with the threat of getting Fallon arrested over a photo. To Her, all she heard was a woman's voice with a seductive undertone, playing coy and saying she was a 'friend'and 'He knows who I Am'. That combined with the fortune teller makes her think he's cheating. He's not, but instead of ending her worries he could have fessed up and said "that woman is blackmailing me and I'm trying to protect you because I love you and I need you to trust me". Then maybe she could have helped him and Jeff with their plan. Instead he deflects and goes off on his own to try and play the hero instead of reassuring his fiance.

Liam was bold. Maybe too bold for an engaged woman but love makes you do crazy things. Taunting Culhane? Yes that was not morally ethical. Was he manipulative? Yes and no. Leaking the photo of her and Culhane was not a good business move, but what would have happened when they were married? She would probably want a huge party like she had for the sham wedding to Jeff Colby because that's her personality. And rumors would spread. So they would have dealt with this anyway, and the only thing Liam had to gain from pushing the issue up was Fallon. It wasn't good for business, but he's desperately in love and it made him crazy. The divorce party? Her idea. And she rejected all his advances but she did have body language and smiles saying there was something between them, as well as her speech when confronting his mother. It is not one sided.

Was she drunk? Yes she had drinks that night. And maybe if she's sober nothing happens. But she was done until he came in with the feels with the slideshow and the separation vows. And most importantly, the kiss on stage. SHE initatied it. Was the context a bit muddy? Yes. But she had all her wits about her. Does she instantly regret it? Yes. But in that moment she honestly wanted to kiss him, not for the shareholders but for herself.

Now when he chases after her. Was she regretful? Yes. But everything she said was to reassure herself as well as to tell him to back off. Then he counters with hard truth because this might be his only shot left - where is culhane. And where is he? Off licking his wounds after Ada beat him to his plan. Liam is there and present and listening to her and again she initiated the kiss that escalated. It takes two to tango.

So to all those hating and shaming Liam? It's not as black and white. It all could have been avoided if Culhane was truthful, and he wasn't. It is what it is. Fallon had her wits about her, and in the moment she wanted Liam as much as he wanted her. Not to mention she was able to escape his grasp to see the footage while he was kissing her neck, so Fallon wasn't being forced into anything.

Was Liam wrong for actively pursing another man's fiance? Yes.

Was Culhane wrong for lying to Fallon? Yes.

Was Culhane in the right for trying to protect her? Yes

Was Liam in the right for fighting for the woman he knows he loves no matter the cost? Yes. The only issue there was her relationship, otherwise he was fine.

Was Fallon wrong for kissing Liam then almost having sex with him when she is engaged to and in love with Culhane? Yes

Nobody is perfect in this show, every single character has done SOMETHING somewhat problematic at one point.

"did they miss basically every mark with every could-have-been-great soap opera trope they used? imo, yeah" elaborate pls queen

i don’t have a super in-depth answer to this. i just saw a lot of hardore ride or die falliam fans in the tags who seemed to feel the same sentiment, too, that it felt like all of the potentially really sexy or great soap opera tropes that were applied to falliam werent explored, which sort of got tiring for both people who didnt care about falliam and those who really cared about them.

dynasty tried to apply the ‘fake dating’ and ‘forced to work together’ tropes to falliam but didn’t really spend any time or effort on either of them. each of these tropes has like, a billion possibilities and both were boiled down to basically one scene each (the pillow talk scene in 2.03, and the office scene in i think? 2.06?) which were great scenes however also just a waste of a seriously good trope.

the only trope they really stuck with was the amnesia plot but... idk i didn’t see that many fallon/liam shippers happy with it. 

i’m not gna talk that much more abt the writing failing this ship lowkey in previous seasons anymore (who knows maybe s4 is gonna be like. insane.) it feels like i’m dunking on the ship or people who like it which isn’t the case i’m moreso just talking abt the writing and like i’ve said, it’s not exactly a ship i am excited by but i feel like i absolutely would have been? if the most exciting parts of them (at least for me, my opinion is just individual) were explored more

New to the fandom. well not new new but i had stopped the show after 2.6 I think and never got back to watch it until i heard recently that Liam was back. The way i binged the whole season 2 and all caught up with season 3 enh!.

I just want to say one thing, Falliam gives me joy tbh and giffing them is my way of showing and giving joy to other fellow falliam shippers. so if you have gif request(s) my askbox is open.

New character alert for Dynasty S3: Evan Tate & speculations about his role

Some of you might’ve read/heard about TVLine’s scoop on Dynasty S3 and on the writer’s confirmation (of what almost all of us have known from the BTS bits and pieces shared throughout the ongoing production 😎) of Liam’s fate 🍾🍾🍾.

And then just last night, I saw this BTS pic on IG of the cast’s table read for 3x05 (which is taken a day after Labor Day, they all ironically wore white 😂). No longer surprising (at least to me 🤣), Adam Huber is in the picture with some of the other casts (and sat SIDE BY SIDE with Liz with their shoulders attached. P.S. this simple detail admittedly giddies my Falliam shipper heart so much 🤪😂🤣!).

But then also in the picture, I have noticed a new face, who honestly I was not familiar with, who’s sitting in the middle between Adam and Raf. And then I came across this article, just this morning:

So he turns out to be a new recurring cast, playing as a new character and also Trixie’s older brother, Evan Tate.

And then it just occurs to me, what if this new character is written to be the newest romantic obstacle for Liam and Fallon’s relationship. Part of the scoops hints that Fallon will go a little crazy due to feeling guilty over the mystery of Trixie’s death. What if it means Fallon, in say, trying to relieve her guilt—redeem her alleged mistake in regard to Trixie’s death—becomes a little obsessed with trying to make up—to do good and nice things—to Trixie’s family (in this case Evan Tate). This, in turn, will subsequently raise issues and further complicate her relationship with Liam in addition to the already existing issues therein (for example: Liam’s child, his difficult mother, Adam, etc.). Or if we want to go a more sinister route, what if Evan Tate, after learning about Fallon/the Carringtons’ alleged involvement in Trixie’s death, becomes revengeful—and in trying to interfere and destroy her relationships with her most loved ones—attempts to get close to Fallon to cunningly manipulates and extremely guilt-trip her, therefore isolating and finally driving her crazy. 😱😱😱

I can personally see the writers to go around those theories if only for the sake of bringing angsts and dramas to the main couple of the show, just because they have officialy got together and finally got over their denials in regard to their feelings for each other. But hopefully whatever plots the writers have planned for Dynasty S3, hope they would be more excitedly unpredictable but at the same time, not too messy and draggy. 🙏🏻😉🤞🏻

This is ridiculous, that people are hating you or ‘warning you’ that Liz knows about your Instagram, as if Liz is going to hate you. Has she even ever given a stance on Falliam? Either way, I revamped my Stan twitter yesterday and I immediately got asked if I’m a Falliam - maybe it’s because I’m past the age of 25 but I don’t understand what’s so wrong with Falliam; Colby and Culhane are so toxic for her and she’s only truly happy with Liam, let’s be real here.

I couldn’t agree more! 

It’s all very pathetic, and clearly from people who hate Falliam and are just trying to silence me and stir things up because they’ve got nothing better to do. 

And you’re absolutely right, there is not a thing wrong with shipping Falliam. They’re a wonderful ship, they have the chemistry and love I can only ever dream of having with someone. I hope you don’t ever feel like you can’t express your love for them! I recommend sticking with us Falliam shippers, I’ve only ever met funny, friendly, talented people in our falliam community.

idk sounds like you’re making some pretty broad assumptions about falliam shippers. I’m a WOC and tbh I found Mallon dry from the very beginning. And then Culhane just got progressively worse. Falliam isn’t OTP material but to me they’ve always been a more entertaining couple. And I’m a falliam shipper who stans the Colbys so...Can’t speak for others but as a Black person who ships falliam, I didn’t love the implication (in your tags) that falliam shippers are racists. like your blog tho.

i apologize, i didn’t mean for it to come off as every single falliam as racist, in my latest post i was talking about someone specific who hated culhane and the colby’s, with really lame reasonings tbh. plus there’s this one liz fan who ships falliam who’s a tr*mp supporter and called rob riley a “diversity hire” and the group of ppl he talks to seems to share his opinions. obviously i know that not every falliam shipper is like that and i would never want anyone to think that bc they ship that, they’re instantly racist or anything!! but i do feel like i need to call out the super gross ones bc their comments need to stop.
