The other week I was browsing suruga-ya and saw this

I've wanted him for a while and when I saw the "Damaged" label I thought for £20/$25 it must be fucked lol. But the description just said "There is dirt and mold on hair". Mold... For that price I was like fuck it.

He arrived completely boxed with all the plastic and everything, I was really surprised.

He looks perfect from the front. Let's check the hair.

... Okay. Is that it. Alright.

Bathtime.

I used a soft toothbrush to give him a scrub all over. He didn't come apart so the whole fox had to be dunked. He's really sturdy so I wasn't worried.

One bath later.

All fixed. Easy. I was preparing for the worst but he's as good as new. Considering he's £40/$48 undamaged on Surugaya I really can't complain.

My husbands Holy grail figs arrived today. The Ingo & Emmet Banpresto prize figures. Since they had no box and Ingo has a scuff on his back they were fairly cheap given they usually go for about £70+ each

I also got one of my own Grails; the Puyo Puyo Satan resin kit. He's small but so cute, since the resin is coloured he doesn't need as much work as a regular kit. I'm really excited to work on him.

So, my suruga-ya haul came in that I got during their free shipping campaign. Lots of figure magazines, lots of trading figures, some Lucifer merch, and a Keroro figure I've wanted for a long time.

A lot of figure magazines I am very excited to read and scan. I will upload them to The Internet Archive once I do so, although it might be a while. I'm really excited to post stuff from here on this blog and find some rare GKs. There is also a Mine Yoshizaki artwork and one of the Haruhi Newtype magazines (weak to gay cover)

Here's the full set of Wonda Shot Coffee Haruhi figures. They're really lovely, and also include the only official figure of Sasaki, in the middle. These were a Family Mart exclusive, and the gaps in the packaging would have had a bottle of coffee in them.

Some trading figures; a lot of these are ones I've been meaning to put in my collection for a while. I'm particularly happy with the Saber Konata Nendo petite, the Hypmic Movic set, and the Iwatooshi Koedarize. SMT Mary (far left) came with some broken pieces from her candle, but its nothing some plastic glue can't fix.

Some Lucifer bits for my itabag; his merch is very expensive everywhere for some reason so being able to get it relatively cheap second hand was nice. The bag smelt of cigarettes though lmao.

And my beloved Natsume figure. I've wanted this for a long time. I really did get her at a good price. I'll take more pics of her soon.

Suruga-ya haul is here.

Lots of figure magazines and Mine Yoshizaki stuff. Not pictured because my husband is looking at it but I also got a magazine that goes in-depth to sculpting your own figures. The red Mined copy has some pages falling out but otherwise everything is fine (the fold on the Zelda cover was my fault.....)

The whole Keroro School collection, a SMT Loki one-coin and a little penguin Chiyo-chan. All on brilliant condition, although it was really hard getting some of the Keroro figs on their bases. They were brand new though, so I'll just need to warm them up a bit.

And some Jakurai's for my itabag. I actually broke one of my acrylic charms and was supposed to order a new kne but forgot.... Next time I guess...

Very happy with this. Didn't get caught by customs either. Definately reccomend taking advantage of Suruga-ya's free shipping campaign.

Today's MFC Figure Addition round-up

Some Monster Hunter and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei figures by Over Dard. All of these were scanned from Figure Maniacs 46 (July 2012).

First, I know NOTHING about Monster Hunter. This is no exaggeration lol, so translating these names and working out what to call them was really hard. If anyone has any corrections please let me know.

Random question: what is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to figures?

Mine is when they have an unnecessarily large base that makes them take up way too much space

I also hate huge bases, I feel like its a draw between that and really ugly poles holding figures up. It's fine if they use a stand that's incorporated into the design or looks fairly hidden front on, but I think I would rather have a huge base to help balance a figure out than have those horrible plastic pillars going up their ass

Completely takes away from the post of the figure here (ignoring the horrendous outfit)

I know its important to balance figures and to keep it stable to reduce risk of breaks but I think its much better to either 1. hide the supports with effects or other additions that make the figure look natural, or 2. Rebalance it using a larger base and reinforcing vulnerable parts like feet/ankles

I got some Pinky St. Stuff this weekend at a con for £35. On top of the Haruhi stuff, I noticed it also had most of the My Melody set which is very expensive. I believe the Long-haired blonde girl is from Wild Arms and the other two are originals. There's also some accessories from other sets (Mikuru's maid stuff, Haruhi's body, some other random bits) I really love them, they just need a little wash.
