Whenever i see your Bassclef au stuff, it always gets me curious about literally every character's lore and the art really helps conveying it- if that makes sense?-

For instances, who's Slinger?

GAH !! I ALWAYS GET SO EXCITED WHEN PEOPLE ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BASSCLEF AU !!

To explain Slinger’s story I’ll also have to briefly go over the overall plot of the au so here goes:

“Bassclef” is a robotic replica of Boyfriend, commissioned by Daddy Dearest and sent to literally kill the actual Boyfriend because DD is evil like that and also despises the relationship between boyfriend and girlfriend. The robot succeeded. He killed Boyfriend as he was ordered to, but was bot-napped directly after the event. This lead to the robot boyfriend being sold and rented and bot-napped repeatedly until shit went down (being vague here on purpose) and eventually he found his way to Pico, who took him to be repaired by Watts - a friend of Pico’s from his old school.

Cut to later in the story, while Bassclef has now been living with Watts for a while. His face had been all over the news at that point - horror stories and reports about the “man-killing robot clone” flooded the media and pretty much made Bassclef a celebrity (to his dismay).

So, due to how unbelievably popular this situation had become, someone had the idea to make a copy-cat Bassclef incident in order to achieve the same scale of infamy that Bassclef had. So this anonymous buyer commissioned the same person who had made Bassclef - Dr. Olivia - to create another robot replica - this one being of Pico. However, before it was completely finished, the buyer cancelled the commission due to insignificant funds. They couldn’t pay for it.

Dr. Olivia finished the robot anyway. He named it “Slinger” (as in Gun-slinger) and gave it one mission, which is to find Bassclef and bring him back to the Doctor in order to be reset and repurposed.

Unlike Bassclef, however, Slinger doesn’t have the same memories as the real Pico. He has no connected whatsoever to Pico other than sharing an appearance. Slinger is his own character completely, unlike how Bassclef is literally just Boyfriend robofied, sharing the same memories as the Real boyfriend and all that fun stuff.

So Did GF in the basscle au go demon after Bf's death? Also nay chance of a ghost BF?

I like to imagine that the Dearest family have what’s basically the equivalent of like a “demon puberty” that’s triggered by a certain event which causes the person to turn purple and all around look more demonic, + gain cool demon powers or something. This is such a silly comparison but it’s kind of like how Vampirism worked in Hotel Transylvania 2 !

So, the event that caused GF to finally transform into a demon was Boyfriend’s death. It was traumatic and horrific to see her lover be murdered in front of her eyes, so she completely lost it. Now she’s purple <3

I was actually considering the idea of having a ghost Boyfriend appear !! However, I couldn’t figure out where/how it would fit in the story. I do really want the original Boyfriend to haunt the story, but not as a literal ghost. More like the idea or memory of him haunts the story - and specifically Bassclef.

The now dead Boyfriend is the reason Bassclef can’t be in love with Girlfriend, like his programmed memories tell him he is. Boyfriend is the reason Girlfriend is miserable, and shuts the world out now. Knowing that Boyfriend was a real person who lived and breathed once is the reason that Bassclef—who IS essentially Boyfriend, with the same memories and feelings—had to go through so much pain in order to reinvent and rebrand himself as “Bassclef”. Even though there’s no literal ghost of Boyfriend, the memory of him is enough to haunt everyone.

The ai my friend used is DALL•E mini !! It’s really fun to mess around with, I love it !!

Ok so wait- if bass has all the same memories as bf, how did he justify killing essentially himself but again? Was it kind of a: “I got I gut feeling I HAVE to kill this guy.”(programing) Situation, or a: ”which one do I shoot?!” (Both of them think the other is the clone and they’re real) type beat?

I don’t think I’ve really gone into detail about how Bassclef’s initial programming worked. So I’ll try to cover that here + include a short timeline for the beginning of the story !

When Bassclef was originally created he WAS programmed with the memories of the original Boyfriend at the request of the commissioner. This meant he would have the personality and feelings of Boyfriend so he’d feel more authentic, however these weren’t accessible / present at the time that Boyfriend was murdered. Bassclef was just a robotic, mindless puppet following its orders at this point.

It isn’t until a little later, when Bassclef falls into the hands of Monster and Spirit ( who are buddies ) and Is chosen to be a vessel for Spirit to occupy so he can escape the video game. However Monster is the only one able to run the operation ( since Spirit is stuck in the game ) and Monster is an idiot with computers. It downloads a virus onto Bassclef, causing Bassclef to go on a panic/virus/pain induced rampage. He escapes the house with Monster, and because he has the memories of Boyfriend he subconsciously stumbles to Pico’s house and shuts down at his door.

Pico was also there when Boyfriend was murdered, so he should have just destroyed the robot. But he couldn’t bring himself to because it looked so much like Boyfriend. Instead, he brings the robot to a friend from his high school who happened to be good with machines ( this friend is the original character - Watts ). Watts fixes Bassclef up and from this point forwards Bassclef was now his own person who could think for himself. The virus damaged his coding and basically broke him free, but if not for Watts, he wouldn’t have recovered in order to enjoy his new and improved brain.
