Imagine you're a Tiny, right? And you're walking around in the forest or something, until you feel the earth rumble around you and you suddenly get yoinked by a Giant. You get lifted up, and you see that there are multiple Giants around. You're expecting the worst, until the Giant just starts talking about basic Tiny biology and stuff into a camera and says things like how you're a "gorgeous find" and how they "weren't expecting to run into one so soon", and then they just put you on the ground and move on.

Too many ‘normal’ people in g/t stories I think.

Give me a germaphobe human that loses their mind finding out a borrower has committed the ultimate sin (walked on their counter)

Give me deaf borrower who thinks their being quiet while borrowing, and the human just plays along, pretending they don’t hear all the noise they’re making

Give me autistic giant who holds a human captive simply so they have someone to infodump to

Give me human with visual and auditory hallucinations that just thinks the little guy they’ve seen running around their house is a hallucination

This isn’t even mostly about representation, I just think applying these to the g/t dynamic makes an even more interesting dynamic

Yeah, yeah, I love all the fluff and all the borrower/human and human/giant friendly stories and all the disappearing fear and friendship building, but… sometimes I need some angst. Some trauma. Some realistic fear. A borrower who has witnessed a human hurting/killing another borrower will not trust the human easily. Maybe the human/giant does something out of order when their angry. Or maybe they're just evil and don't care how they make the tiny feel. Hell, maybe they even like it when they're scared.

I live for some good angst.

imagine waking up...

imagine waking up next to a giant.

your eyes flutter open and your breath immedietly catches with awe. the person beside you takes up nearly your whole vision, and you're only taking in their torso. the slopes of their immense shoulders so far above you, the overwhelming length of their legs out of sight as they're tucked underneath you. they're almost too much to take in all at once.

the shape of their sleeping form seems to be a crescent, like they've cocooned themselves around you. the soft breaths they take in and out wash over you, the rise and fall of their chest so pronounced in front of you. you're hyperaware how the mattress just slightly receeds under them as they exhale. even sleeping, they're so much. despite this, you've never felt so safe. you feel shielded from the world beyond their form, protected.

their hand is gently draped over you, a comfortable pressure that provides such comfort. they asked, while you both were falling into a pleasant sleep, if they might hold you. the fact they take such care when you emody so little of them warms your heart. you place your own over their thumb in front of you. your palm covers so little, and yet you find no discomfort in this. the person in front and over and around you stirs, just slightly- letting out a content little breath. the sound, although just a small exhale for them, fills your mind.

your eyes flutter open and your breath immedietly catches with awe. the person beside you is tucked so neatly beneath your hand, which you placed over them ever so gently as you both began to drift to sleep. you broke the comfortable silence to ask in a mere whisper, as not to startle them, if this would be alright. now, in the early morning light they doze under you.

you can only see their little torso poking out from your hand. their little shoulders can't take up more than an inch or two. you can barely make out their chest rising and falling in a gentle rhythm against the mattress, the sound of their breaths imperceptable. they are so small, and yet they they're sleeping so soundly against you. you can't help but feel protective for them, you want to shield them against the world that's so much larger to them than it is for you.

you can't scarcely believe how much this person has placed their trust in you, when you must be so much to them. not wanting to disturb their slumber, you gently brush their shoulder with your thumb. even your thumb covers so much of them, yet you find no discomfort in this. they stir ever slightly, their shoulders raising ever slightly against your diget. you can barely make out a content little breath they let out. despite being nearly imperceptable, the sound rings out like a bell to you.

Thinking about tinies feeling bad that they can't do more for their giant friend/partner.

Like, the giant can protect the tiny physically from danger with their massive size, but also comfort the tiny, hold them in their arms and hands, hold them to their chest to warm them up, rub and massage their back with a single finger, carry the tiny over long distances so they don't have to walk, etc.

And what can the tiny do for the giant? They're too small to protect them in any way, or to give them a proper good hug or massage. Obviously, carrying them or warming them up with their body heat is out of the question. They could comfort the giant emotionally, but in most cases that's what the giant is doing for the tiny, and the tiny wouldn't know how to do that anyways.

So the tiny feels like they're useless to their giant, and they're a bad friend or partner for them because they can't do anything for them, regardless of if the giant feels the same way. And when they end up talking to the giant about this, the giant holds and comforts them, making them sure that they don't need to be useful or do anything for the giant to be important to them, and that they care for them no matter what.

imagine you're a tiny (let's say around the 10cm/4in tall)

you have a regular sized friend that you live with, you try your best to help out around the house despite your size not allowing you to do much.

much of your role is being there for emotional support, you tend to sit down next to your friend whenever they're having a rough day to talk to them and cheer them up a bit.

one day you notice they seem to be really down, getting back home from work only to go directly to bed.

you, worried about them, decide to go after them and climb up the bed to have a talk with them like you always do, but just as you're about to ask what's wrong...

they grab you.

they hold you by their fingertips and pull you closer, putting you on their chest and telling you they could really use a hug.

as you lay on their very soft chest, covered by their equally soft hands... you can feel their heartbeat pounding like crazy, with them clearly not having a good time. you assure them everything's going to be alright, after which they seem to calm down a bit and their heartbeat steadies.

you ask if they want you to stay there a little longer, to which they happily agree while giving you a soft smile.

G/t Idea: sanctuary for critically endangered tols/smols.

Like take for example that line from the Ghibli Arietty film about how the Clocks may be the last of their kind. What if that was true?

What if humans realized that tinies existed, but there's only a few hundred of them left at all? In an effort to protect them from dying out entirely, scientists put up nature reserves for them, devoid of any predators and heavily observed 24/7, to monitor the species and garantee its survival.

What if the tinies didn't even know that? They know about the fence and that rarely, giants walk through their territory, but they know to hide from them. The elders tell of a time when they had been captured by the giants, but through their cleverness and wit, they managed to escape into this safe valley. Some however, are cynical. They claim that this place they call home is no safe haven but instead a prison!

The same can also be true for giants. Their safe space would probably be an entire valley, with huge, fortified walls all around it. Signs on the outside read "Giant sanctuary - entry prohibited" and a lot of other warnings. The scientists would have to be very careful not to be spotted - not that giants are ultraviolent brutes, but one must be careful with creatures several times ones own size.

And it is important for the humans to not let the giants/tinies know about the sanctuary, since they want to preserve the species' culture and behaviour with as little human meddling as possible.

But what would happen if a giant would ever spot a human? If a tiny revealed the secret behind their safe haven? What would their reaction be? Tell all their family members? Try to escape? Despair? Maybe even befriend their keepers?

But what about the humans? Do they maybe have different goals other than species preservation? What's the opinion of the public of funding such projects? Are there documentaries about them?

Turning Giant Panic

So we all know the scenes where a character turns into a giant and the freaks out. Usaully theres a part where the turing giant reachs out for help only to retrack because they realize how much bigger their hand/they are now. Usually when a person panics they arent thinking straight. Give me a person who is turning giant who is panic so badly they even tho they are so much bigger now the still reach out for someone anyone to help them.

Imagne them grabbing their friend/loved one even tho there so small now and BEGGING them to do something anything to make it stop or to explain whats happening to them. The helplessness of both the turning giant not knowing what to do and not realizing how badly they are freaking everyone else out and the friend/loved one who cant do anything about what is happening to their now giant friend and is now freaking out to
