Maybe I'm crazy , maybe I'm weak
Maybe I'm blinded by what I see
You wanted a soldier but it wasn't me
Cause I could never set you free
So fly on your own
It's time I let you go
----------------------------------☁-----------------------------
Y/n is an angel bound to Heaven . Another pitiful creature....but she's no ordinary angel .Y/n has a secret .
She is terrified to leave The Garden of Eden . After the Celestial War she never once left that tranquil garden . To others , it seemed like she was a dove in a birdcage .
After he left , she never smiled not once .
After he fell , her wings became glass and shattered . After they were condemed , her heart broke .
" Belphegor ....... "
The h/c girl sighed , petting a squirrel while blue flowers surrounded her . The garden reminded her of home ....Heaven , before the war . Before Lilith died and the brothers fell . Before Belphegor left .
No longer an angel , he couldn't see her like he usually used to . No more napping near the grassy waterfalls , no more sneaking flowers into her h/c locks . No more ...... seing her smile .
The smile that always managed to lift his spirits .
He resorted to sleeping all the time .
Lazy . Immature . Slothful . Useless .
That's what he was being called but he couldn't care less because , it was only when he was sleeping that he could see the glow of your e/c eyes being illuminated by the sun's rays as they gently kissed your face .
It was the only way he could still see you .
" Y/n ....... "
----------------------------------☁-----------------------------
He sighed , a long , exasperated sigh that caught the attention of his older brother Lucifer and his friend, an angel , Simeon .
" He really misses Y/n , Simeon "
Lucifer sympathizers . You were like a younger sister to him . He noticed how Belphegor would be much more pleasent when you're around .
" Is there no way for him to meet her ? "
The man's red eyes softened at the sleeping demon to the side of him , slumped over the library table .
" There might be a way but I'm not sure . Y/n hasn't left the Garden of Eden since the war ended . "
" .....Why ?.... " , the two males turned around to see the blue haired male rubbing his eyes .
" ........ "
" ........ "
" Why hasn't she left ? She should be happy that the war is over . She should be married . "
They said nothing . The frustration of the violet eyed demon grew and the room .
" Your idea ? "
" His birthday is coming up ! Yes ? "
" I see . " , the eldest spoke with a smirk .
Tumblr media
☁ A MONTH LATER ☁
" Happy Birthday Belphie ! ! " , everyone shouted .
The male was taken back a bit , by the sudden cheers and the fact that his twin decided to spend their birthday separately . Like since when ??
Mc and Beelzebub walked up to Belphegor and handed him a blindfold .
" .............. "
" WEAR IT !! " the two shouted .
After what felt like an eternity the man felt solid ground . As the blindfold dropped as Lucifer , Mammon , Satan , Asmodeus , Leviathan , Beelzebub , Mc , Diavolo , Barbatos , Simeon , Luke and Solomon . In that order . Smiled and shouted another Happy Borthday as they stepped aside , the large golden gatesopened and a figure walked towards him .
Instinct , he turned into his demon form .
H/c hair swayed gently with the breeze as e/c eyes sparkled with a longing for something or , rather , someone that was clearly evident . Two pairs of white wings veiled her back and her head adorned with a halo .
" Belphe - "
" Y/N I MISSED YOU SO MUCH ! "
The demon teleported to her , crying and hugging her tightly . The girl placed her hands on his face and ......... smiled .
That smiled made Belphegor's heart leap , he swore that he felt his heart do a backflip .
" I'm sorry I left you . I left and now I'm a demon . A mons- "
" You're still my angel . "
He pulled the h/c girl closer and kissed her . Kissed her like if he didn't, if he let go - even a little - the whole cosmos would end . The sun would implode and kill every living creature that God created .
Tears formed in their eyes , as they opened them simultaneously. Not even letting go of each other as the sun set behindthem , a hue of orange , yellow and pink streaks parading and painting the sky and the clouds pastel colours , giving even the best fantasy pictures ever painted , last place .
" Please............. I want you to - "
" Y / n ....you know ...Sometimes I envy the Sun's rays . For they can kiss you , for they can kiss you the way ... I wan to kiss you . "
" And with that , Y/n . I give you freedom to be with the one you love . Even if it is a fallen angel . I do not appreciate my child being sad . So go . Follow your heart . "

gai has been watching him sleep for almost half an hour now, enjoying the peaceful expression on kakashi's face that truly is rare, even when he's unconscious. it's nice, the idea that kakashi might feel safe enough here to let the lines in his face relax. biting his lip against a smile, gai reaches over to card gentle fingers through kakashi's hair. "you are everything i have ever wanted."
          He’d been pretty tired lately.
It’s hard to say whether it’s been stress or a lack of sleep or just life in general-- perhaps some combination or even all three-- but Gai takes one look at him when he steps through the door and drags him off to his bed, chatting easily about his day, his students, the weather, but still fussing over him with his hands. He’s gentle when he strips Kakashi out of his vest, pulls his hitai-ate away from his face, pulls off his gloves, and when Kakashi leans his forehead against Gai’s shoulder with a quiet sigh the noise he gets in return is almost punched out.
After that the last thing he remembers doing is-- well, he supposes he must have been reading, or at least pretending to read while he listened to Gai’s heart beat away in his bicep. He could feel his pulse against his cheekbone, just the slightest bit uneven, and he’d let the book slip from his fingers and his eyes fall shut after about twenty minutes of silence. Kakashi isn’t quite asleep but he’s drifting far closer than usual, hanging there on the edge with his senses fogged, bits and pieces of the outside world filtering into his brain nonsensically. All he knows for sure is that he’s warm, and comfortable, and most of all safe.
So it’s just habit that has him lifting his head with a sleepy noise when Gai touches his hair, blinking his one eye slowly and keeping the sharingan hidden away. He glances around-- it’s dark, so he’s been out way longer than he’d thought, and Gai has hardly shifted an inch except to pull a blanket over him, apparently, and then to touch his hair. Kakashi’s brows furrow with vague confusion when he speaks because it takes a moment for his brain to process the tender words, and when he does they lift almost incredulously.
Self deprecatingly, at first he thinks to himself that Gai must not have wanted much in the first place if he’s all it takes.
With a long sigh, he lets his head fall back onto Gai’s bicep and reaches up to settle his thumb against his lip where the teeth dig in. His eyes linger somewhere on Gai’s chin, watching his pulse in his throat. It hits him, suddenly, that losing this man would be unsurvivable.
A strange thing to think, tangled in his arms and warm in his bed. But Kakashi knows it with the same deep desperation that he knows all of his other losses with, and he knows that if Maito Gai were to meet his end in the field of battle, Hatake Kakashi will go down with him. The conviction freezes any words in his throat and the pause probably carries on far too long to be comfortable, but the thing about Gai is that he always, always knows when to wait Kakashi out and when to fill the silence, and he remains quiet until Kakashi manages to swallow down the rush of feeling and force himself to speak.
“Don’t ever make me bury my heart with you,” he murmurs, and he knows it isn’t fair to demand a promise of the man that he has no guarantee of keeping, but he just needs--
He needs Gai to know that his death is not an acceptable outcome.
Perhaps his dreams were more troubled than he can recall.
Shaking his head to clear the lingering cobwebs from his mind, he leans forward to plant a lingering kiss on Gai’s lips, right over his thumb over his teeth. “You’re it for me,” he continues, mouth still close enough that their lips brush and he still can’t make eye contact but that’s fine because Gai’s cheekbones are just as handsome as the rest of him and they’re easier to stare at than his soulful eyes. “So don’t... you know. Don’t make it a point to die, because I won’t make it if you do.”

i think haku is unbreakable in the face of public scrutiny because even when they train with lee and gai they don’t let themself cry until they’re at home in the bath with all the curtains drawn

in the distance, across the battlefield, red flames lick the sky.
There is blood in his eye.
Fast enough to keep a kunai from burying itself deep in his skull but not fast enough to escape it entirely-- it had cut a long slice on his forehead just above his eyebrow, sluggishly bleeding even now until red coats the entire right side of his face, tacky and metallic on his lips. Blinking only temporarily clears his vision, and he can’t tell if the haze settling over his mind is a side effect of the haze over his vision or if all of that is just exhaustion.
He’d watched Ebisu take a blade deep into the meat of his arm, earlier. Lost sight of him after that, and the best he can do about that is hope he made it to a medic instead of fighting until there wasn’t any blood left in him. The battle is otherwise extremely confusing, seeming to come in fits and starts and Genma takes advantage of it-- flickering in and out of the shadows, cutting throats and lifting senbon from corpses to reuse, fast and quiet enough to escape most notice. It feels like it tears on forever, an unknowable amount of time, the moon hanging red above them like a malicious eye, unbroken by anything and all he knows is the fighting until.
There’s a flicker of blue-green chakra in the distance, and as he sinks a kunai between the cervical vertebrae of an enemy and flickers away again he spares a thought for his other teammate-- Don’t die, Gai.
It’s the first coherent thought he’s had in who-knows-how long. There’s concern there, real fear that opening the seventh gate will end up shattering his friend’s bones and. And he’s distracted, someone almost got the drop on him. He hits the dirt and buries a foot in their gut, popping back up and slitting their throat with a groan of effort. The blue-green feeling at the edge of his senses is a balm as much as an irritant, fear mixing with relief because as long as he can feel it he knows Gai is alive and.
As soon as he thinks that, it flickers out abruptly.
His breath catches in his throat, but he keeps fighting. Tells himself he doesn’t know what happened, it could mean anything. Raidou lands hard next to him and Genma lets himself lean against his shoulder for a moment, fatigue hitting him all at once as he tries to catch his breath past the tightness in his chest. His eyes are on the horizon, the direction he’d last felt Gai in-- not that he would have missed the wild blaze of red setting the sky on fire if he hadn’t.
And he knows what it means even as something heavy and numb curls in his gut. His breath catches in his throat and for a moment he freezes completely, fingers digging into his teammate’s arm as he tries to find his feet again. Genma lifts a hand to wipe the blood out of his eye, like that might change the color of the explosion of chakra on the horizon, or the heavy, bloody feeling that fills the air even this far away. He’s seen this before and he knows what it means: Gai is dead for sure as soon as the storm falls quiet.
He doesn’t... he doesn’t know what to do. Gai has been a constant in his life for almost thirty years. What is he supposed to do? Running to the source is impossible-- abandoning his comrades and dying on the way isn’t in his cards, and even if Gai wouldn’t haunt his ass forever for doing either, he’d never make it in time. Gai is going to die miles away, and there’s nothing for him to do.
“Oh,” he breathes, inaudible except to Raidou, who gives him a worried look even as the battle around them seems to pause and hold its breath. “Oh, you... big-hearted idiot.” Genma closes his eyes and lets out a breath as sounds like great thunderclaps ring in the distance. The tremor in his voice is almost, almost nonexistent.
Maito Gai has found his opportunity to lay down his life for something, someplace, someone that he loves.
He straightens and tries to silence the shivering scream that wants to tear out of him, bloodied hand pressed to his breastbone. Gai is dying to try and save the world. He doesn’t have the time to be selfish about it-- might not even live long enough to.
          To mourn him.
Genma uses his pain to still the exhausted shaking in his hands and gives the horizon one last, long look. If Gai is going to die for this, they’re going to win. There’s nothing else to do but fight on, whether he feels like a puppet with its strings cut or now. He grits his teeth, adjusts his grip on his kunai, and steels himself again because Gai would never forgive Genma or himself if he bit it out here because he was too focused on what was going on over there.

' yamato has quite the ring to it, don't you think? ' it isn't often that gai allows his thoughts to wander in this way, but he's admittedly thought about it more than once. ' though, it is sometimes difficult to /remember/ not to call you tenzo. '
@gatesopen
It’s hard for him to get used to, too.
He’ll never say it aloud because weapons shouldn’t complain, but he’d liked Tenzo. It’d been a name he picked for himself. A name that friends and loved ones he’d lost had called him, and moving on to another one feels like. It feels like... It doesn’t matter what it feels like.
Tenz-- Yamato is trying not to get philosophical about it. The purpose of having no identity is so that he can slip into something new at any time, and his complacency was his own problem. It’s Yamato now, and Yamato is a fine, nondescript name that will serve him well. It might even be a little reassuring that someone else is struggling with the change.
He leans further over the balcony and watches strangers ebb and flow below. Foot traffic is kind of heavy on the street tonight, and he wonders if there’s some sort of festival or celebration he’s forgotten about. He barely even knows what day it is-- Kakashi’s kids are going to kill him, whether it be via blood pressure spike or heinous accident. Gai’s presence is downright trance-inducing in comparison.
“Well,” he begins thoughtfully, because even if Gai was kind enough to let him in from the cold like some starving stray, he can’t help but try and mess with the guy a little bit. His first socialization in the real world was with Hatake Kakashi, after all. “If you do call me Tenzo, just make sure it’s not around any civilians. Then we’ll have to kill them to keep my secret.” A put upon sigh, and he turns his face up to the sky to squint at the moon peeking out of some clouds. “You know how ANBU secrets go-- messy stuff.”

Seldom does he humor these walls -- he hates the hospital, the stench of medicines having long since bore into its plaster -- but that assignment he endured had left him thoroughly wrecked. His bruises still mar and tinge his flesh. However, Kakashi more bemoans the ruckus outside, Konoha bustling with the business of the holidays. No doubt its cheer has but enlivened Gai’s footsteps as he feels his bed shuddering to those familiar steps. Ouch. “Yo... I still accept flowers, Gai,” he greets -- over headaches.

' i think i'd like to spend more time with your ninken ! i feel like i don't know them very well, and that is wholly unacceptable. '
     @gatesopen
Kakashi pauses where he is crouched on the bank of the river, hands still in the cool running water. The day is hot-- it’s nearing two in the afternoon and there’s not a cloud in the sky, and only the faintest breeze rolling through from the East. They’ve just finished sparring, and Gai is doing push ups in the grass behind him. Kakashi finishes rinsing his hands, splashes water onto his face and lets it soak into the fabric of his mask bunched around his back, and then turns around.
Correction: Gai is laying on his stomach, chin in his hands, grinning at him. The corner of Kakashi’s mouth quirks in an instinctive response, and he squeezes the extra water out of his mask but he doesn’t pull it back up yet. He isn’t surprised, really, that Gai had asked-- he’s almost been gregarious almost to the point of being detrimental, if befriending Kakashi is anything to go by, and he’d always seemed to get along well with the usual summons: Pakkun, sometimes Uhei or Bisuke. Always polite, but... well, they’re always working. He hums and pretends to consider it, shuffling back to settle next to him in the grass, and doesn’t shift away when Gai shifts just a little bit closer until his elbow rests against Kakashi’s hip.
The smile tugs at the corner of his mouth again. He thinks: yeah. Yeah, he wants Maito Gai to know his pack, and he wants his pack to know Maito Gai. “I suppose they’d like the weather today,” he says, like he doesn’t care one way or another if they do this now, like if they put it off it won’t be all he’ll be able to think about: Gai’s elbow pressed to his hip, the way he radiates heat in the afternoon sun, and him asking to get to know the pack. “There are eight of them, you know?”
If Gai didn’t know, he finds out. Pakkun, Bull, Urushi. Shiba, Akino, Uhei. Bisuke and Guruko. He asked, and Kakashi sits quietly off to the side as he carefully greets and introduces himself to each one of his ninken, bowing his head respectfully and dutifully committing their names to memory. Once he gets through all of them, and Uhei and Guruko and Shiba start to sniff around at the water’s edge like they might pick up a scent, Kakashi leans forward and brushes their shoulders together, a wry twist to his lips that can only spell disaster in their near future. “Do you want to play a game with us, Gai?”
And he already knows the answer is going to be yes.

they've been here for hours, genma propped against a tree, gai laying with his head on his lap. it's comfortable, and gai's found himself slipping into slumber every now and again, though he rolls onto his side in order to bury his face against genma's stomach. "do you think you would ever take on a genin team?" he asks suddenly, muffled only slightly by genma's shirt. the idea's been on his mind for a while, but he isn't sure exactly how cut out for teaching he is.
     @gatesopen
Genma figures he’s been well and truly asleep for about ten minutes by the time Gai finally rolls over and tries to stick his nose in his belly button. It tickles a little bit, but the most he reacts is tipping his head forward until his chin almost rests against his chest and watching the conflicting look on his friend’s face. His fingers have been in Gai’s hair since they collapsed into a tired heap at the base of the tree, and he absently scratches at his scalp while he ponders the question.
Teaching. It’s serious enough to merit thought, at the very least.
Here’s the thing, though: Shiranui Genma has a very specific set of skills. He uses them for a job that he currently likes-- bodyguarding for the Hokage keeps him in the village, most of the time, unless he gets sucked into ANBU business with Hound and Cat and whoever else makes up their current team. Those missions are usually assassinations. He doesn’t want to get philosophical about it, but he thinks he flinches from the idea for the same reason a lot of those in his particular field do. It just feels... wrong, after everything he had to do, to teach a child to do the same. Let alone three of them.
It really boils down to just that, too. Because he doesn’t love kids, but he certainly doesn’t hate them either. And he isn’t great with them, but growing up with a younger sister means he can interact with them normally at the very least-- none of the awkward bullshit exhibited by their more socially inept peers. Genma doesn’t doubt he could be a passable jounin-sensei if he wanted to, but the thing is. He just doesn’t want to.
He trails a thumb over Gai’s eyebrow and dryly replies, “I don’t think I’d be a very good influence on kids, Gai. You’d be better suited to that.” Something in the other man’s face twitches, and-- ah. He has to bite back a warm, knowing smile.
Of course Gai is thinking about becoming a teacher. He’d be... he’d be great at it, Genma realizes. Driven, but kind. Instructive and liberal with praise. Fiercely protective, loving. It’s easy to think about him with three little faceless ducklings in tow, all decked out in green spandex. Vibrant and learning hard lessons from a man who is fundamentally good in a way that’s hard to find these days.
He cups Gai’s cheeks and then turns both of their heads until they’re probably uncomfortable, but he uses this position to look into his face for a moment. “I think, actually-- hm, yeah. I think you’d be really good at it.” Genma leans down and loudly kisses him right on the wrinkles between his brows. “Do you remember when we first graduated, and you taught me that throw? I think about you every time I use it, you know. And I’ve taught it to a bunch of people because it’s saved my life, and the only reason I know how to articulate it when I explain it is because that’s what you did. So just. Yeah, if you ever thought it might be something you’d be into... you should.”

i don't know what to do.
Tenzo doesn’t know what to do either.
Hatake has to know the two of them are there, even if he acts like his sole focus is the names on the massive black stone monument before him-- he never lets go of that hyper-awareness that clings to him even in sleep, even in the village. He hasn’t turned around, though, and he hasn’t twitched or turned his head slightly to the left the way he does when he wants to invite someone closer, so Tenzo’s been standing here for a few minutes in the rain like a fucking idiot while the older man before him mourns his many dead.
Gai had joined him pretty soon after he’d gotten here, greeting him by dipping his chin and staring with serious, sad eyes at the slight slouch their mutual friend is sporting, the defeated line of his shoulders slumping further as the rain soaks into his shirt. Tenzo thinks they may just stand there all night and watch Kakashi cut himself open on his own grief and regret, handling the bloody shards of his heart with careless hands, but Gai speaks. I don’t know what to do, he says. An admission that Tenzo wouldn’t be capable of committing to aloud, perhaps even a request for help? He sounds sad, and frustrated, and for a moment Tenzo lets himself wonder.
What had Kakashi told his precious eternal rival about Ro-han? Probably very little, though they’d been seen in public enough together that their little team-as-family deal was a bit of an open secret. Hell, before Shisui had bitten it last year (murdered, murdered by Itachi, and his mind still can’t fully wrap around that because... just because. It was Shisui. It was Itachi. It wasn’t supposed to happen), it wasn’t an uncommon sight to catch the four of them out of uniform wandering around in parks, little-prince Sasuke perched high on one of their shoulders and chattering happily to his four pet murderers. It wasn’t a secret they were all close.
What they’d been trying to do to Danzo was a secret, though, and Tenzo watches Gai out of the corner of his eye and wonders: what do you know? What did Kakashi tell you? Did he tell you anything? Did he trust you? Was he trying to keep you safe? Gai, from what Tenzo has seen in the past, doesn’t have a subtle or deceptive bone in his body, and the grief and determination burning in his eyes seems real enough. The shock, too. Nobody had seen what Itachi had done coming. Tenzo thinks maybe he should have, or Kakashi should have, his teammate and the Captain who trained him-- but no one had.
It’s just a lot. The boy had been thirteen.
The whole clan, gone. The whole clan, minus Sasuke. And Tenzo knows from the despondent and lost look he’d seen in the Captain’s eyes as he’d stripped out of his uniform in the locker room earlier this morning: Kakashi blames himself for missing something. His guilt crushes him. He knows, looking at Gai now, that Gai can see it too.
He’s never really understood Kakashi’s all-consuming grief for his dead, never understood how every screw up is a failure to their memory. He’s never understood his crushing guilt, and he’s never understood how he let it pound him back into place any time he really tried to step out of line. After Shisui died, he thought-- well, he thought maybe he’d gotten it a little bit, but it wasn’t enough. And Gai has been there... the whole time, not just the last decade since he started his career in ANBU, but the whole goddamn time, and he thinks if Gai doesn’t know what to do then maybe there is nothing to do.
Bearing witness to a man tearing himself up out of guilt and grief isn’t exactly how he’d expected to finally find himself on common ground with Kakashi’s boisterous and honest friend, but he supposes beggars can’t be choosers. He straightens, trying for an encouraging smile that falls vastly short of being either, and nudges Gai with his elbow carefully in a gesture he’s picked up from Kakashi himself. “Well,” he starts philosophically, and loud enough that he can see Kakashi’s head tilt as he’s forced to acknowledge their presence. “We can get some food and somewhere dry. Seems like a good start.”
Interrupting a man when he’s mourning doesn’t seem right, not with how seriously Kakashi has always taken it, but Tenzo isn’t going to stand here while the three of them catch their deaths in the rain out of some obligation to the dead. There’s something weird going on, and he’s no leader or genius and he’s no shoulder to cry on, but he can still try. Maybe Gai can show him the ropes.
