“A reimagining of Kanto, in beautiful new graphics. Some new evolutions such as Goruchu, new eeveelutions, and maybe a different Dragonair evo.” That sounds fuckin awesome. But, I knew. GameFreak can’t be trusted. Everything they do makes me less and less interested in Pokémon, so I knew to not be hopeful. But this? The graphics don’t even look good. Trainers are hyper anime, the Pokémon models look straight from Go and don’t have enough contrast, I mean... come on. What’s this trash.

Marketing.  That’s what it is.  It’s “Oh man, Pokemon Go was a cash cow that’s endless, I bet we can do that with our console too!”  People are talking, correctly, about what mechanics from this game might make it into the next game.  Here is my god’s honest prediction:

When they announce microtransactions, it’s over.  If this game sells, that is the future of Pokemon.  You will buy your $60 game, and everything will be microtransactions.  Your Pokeballs now miss more often than they hit, Pokemon will always run from you after you fail a capture, and the game will be miserable to play, all so they can siphon continuous money out of their players just to play the fucking game.  I know there are people who probably are looking at this like “Oh good, another ‘Pokemon’s dying’ prediction.”  No.  It’s not.  And that’s almost worse.  It’s shifting, and the shifts it’s about to undergo are Bad.  The instant you hear microtransactions for this game, I’m encouraging everyone, regardless of hype, to refuse getting this game.  Because if that exists like I’m convinced it will, we cannot let the whole series go down that road.  It won’t kill the series.  But it’ll suck the fun right out of it.
