having a great time on this trip with my bf and his family to disneyland, but oof. i'm trying hard to re-parent myself, but it's hard not to feel a bit like i've been slapped in the face when every other thing we do would have been 110% out of the question with my parents (with a heavy helping of shaming/guilting for even asking to do these things). and his family's just like, oh this is what we do every time we come here.

his family's not perfect of course, but they're damn night and day to my family. and it's hard not to feel a little bit of pain with that

I agree with you, they can totally spend their money how they want. God knows if I had their bank accounts I’d be traveling the world, my family would never see me bc I’d constantly be somewhere new. I just think that if they’re willing to blow ridiculous amounts of money on clothes or whatever then paying their mods even a little shouldn’t be an issue. Granted, like you said, they haven’t said they wouldn’t so who knows maybe they will. I’d hope they do I just think it’s fair that if someone is going to work for you to pay them at least something.

Either way, whether they do pay the mods or not, I don’t think mods in generally are going to be able to monitor the chats the way snc think they should. Fans are still going to find ways to say the most out of pocket, inappropriate things and I get snc want to give their fans a place to be able to talk amongst themselves and snc but if I was them and I’d take into consideration the way my fans act to one another and talk about me (ie constantly sexualizing me) already on public platforms. The LAST thing I’d ever do is give them another place to do that. But to each their own, I hope it works out the way they want it to.

it's always possible that they'll have a trial period, see if the mods fit right, and then maybe hire them. i don't personally believe that is what will happen, but if i was someone that became a mod (i didn't apply before anyone comes for me lol), i would be requesting that.

you can keep the merch. i want money. or a free membership. but really both lol

and there are has been so many issues with chat already i just think it's a bigger headache than it needs to be. no one was asking for a chat to be included in the upgrade. they added it bc worlds, a different app they were a part of, had it. and that had its own problems too. but the app died off before it could open to the public.

and exactly. fans are gonna be weird regardless. i mean the first person i saw in chat be weird and talk about colby and wanting him to "drop the towel", after someone posted a selfie he took of him in a towel after a shower, WAS A CHILD. it was a 14 year old kid that was being weird about him. and then like a day later they came out with rules.

so it's not just the adults that can be weird. it's the young ones too. EVERYONE can be weird. and i just think it's not worth it in the long run.

i think snc just have too much faith in this fandom. maybe years ago something like this could have worked, back before metalife and during the life project, sure. maybe things were better. but not anymore. sorry. it's just the way it is.

i hope it works out in the end, but i'm not gonna hold my breath.
