I’m not hyped about the new fantastic four news either. though I think what I kind of hope will happen is marvel doing something like they did in the last mcu spider man movie where we see 3 peter parkers team up.

I think it would be super cool to see the cast from the 2005-2007 fantastic four movie meet with the ones from the newest movie. and have the 2005-2007 Doom (Julian McMahon) meet with the Doom from this upcoming fantastic four film too.

so we have more than one “fantastic four” team and also more than one Victor von Doom in the same movie. that would be pretty epic to see in my humble opinion. (if this really is the case, I still have hope that marvel won’t mess it up, because it sure has the potential to be great.)

I mean marvel did just very recently confirm that all the events prior to the mcu (so… sony’s spider man and fantastic four) are also canon to the mcu, and I doubt they would say that if they didn’t plan to do something with it (they said it after the event of the last spider man movie with 3 peter parkers), especially when mcu is heavily heading towards the direction of multiverse, various timelines, various variants of the same person (character) right now. I mean we basically have 3 peter parkers (from both sony and mcu) and literally a bunch of lokis. so let’s see what’ll happen next.

The only part of the casting I agree with is Ben. It feels like Marvel is playing it extremely safe with casting Pedro, like since Multiverse of Madness they've clearly been aiming for the "soft dad" angle with Reed, probably in an attempt to get ahead of possible complaints about him based on canon? I love Reed Richards to a fault, but he's always been a little bit of an asshole. Not intentionally, and much of that perceived assholeness stems from him being on the spectrum imo but it's there, and ignoring that does him as much a disservice as playing up Tony's alcoholism purely for laughs and then never mentioning it again was to that character--another thing the MCU has done.

The poster, the casting, idk. It radiates a nuclear-family blandness, with a camp overlay used purely for aesthetics that will probably be quite popular with general audiences and leave F4 fans from the comics and old movies and other sources of media quite cold. We are not the audience Marvel Studios wishes to court, they've made that very clear.

I'd love to be wrong about how this will play out, though. Pedro is a gifted character actor when he's allowed to be, the trouble is, studios know too well how much audiences love him as a person, and are too prone to mixing the two to improve audiences' appreciation of a character he's playing, rather than just letting the man cook. 😔

I don't have a firm opinion of the other cast other than: this will be the most money anyone named Kirby has ever made on Fantastic Four, so good on her. 👍 And the Ben casting feels right. I'm outside the Johnny demographic so no real opinion there.

I had read that the baddie for the first movie will be Galactus, which is like leading your football season with the Superbowl? But no one asked me, so... 😅 maybe they have a set up that will make that work, who can say.

I've also read (on reddit, so make of that what you will) that Doom will have a "cameo" in the first movie, but no clue what that means or even of it's true.

I like your idea a lot. I think the Deadpool & Wolverine movie will have a Fantastic Four cameo of some kind, probably. The comic book we see in the trailer next to Wade's head on the desert world is Secret Wars #5, which is a recap of the story so far and how everyone got to where they are--so it's possible the desert world they're all on is Battleworld, run either by future-verse Doom or (more likely) the Beyonder. I do think the movie will include them in some way bc the studio will want to start building hype for that as their next big project, going into the MCU version of Secret Wars.

And ofc SW will have crossovers galore, since Marvel Studios has unfortunately set audience expectations for that being what it's about 😅 so, worst case, they'll turn up between those two films no doubt.

I'd love to see Julian McMahon's Doom encounter a closer-to-comic-canon version, but a thing to know about Victor is that he kills every variant of himself he meets. Like, historically, that's just his thing (it's an expression of his own self-loathing, which is really tragic in a way) ...I dunno if the MCU will carry that fun little trait over, but as a writer I can say it's an easy, low-stakes way of showing "this character is a bad guy and also there is something very wrong with him" so... yanno. I am expecting it. 😁

Sorry for the negativity on this, I'm trying to stay upbeat about it all but so far they're not inspiring confidence yet. We'll see what future developments bring, if nothing else we'll always have fanart and fics and the comics themselves. It's not like this fandom hasn't dealt with bad adaptations before, I think we'll be alright whatever happens.

I had an Idea of like the plus sized Y/N going on a joint trip with shuriri and Ayo and Aneka and the readers ex comes and they try to get back on good terms with Y/N but she didn’t want that because of the trauma they gave Y/N basically what I’m trying to say is like could u base the one shot off the movie “Why did I get married” by Tyler perry bc I feel like I couldn’t word this right😭

“i know that is not who i think it is…” riri said as her girlfriend shuri held onto her tight. they had been sitting by the couch drinking wine and playing some stupid american game you had recommended called cards against humanity. aneka and riri found the game hilarious but ayo and shuri could not believe the vulgar things they were seeing.

“hey y’all…” a familiar voice said from behind you.

immediately the wine glass in your hand slipped right through your fingers and onto the floor. when the glass shattered it made a loud crack and the red spilled out everywhere.

“oh god im so sorry…” you speak as you attempt to clean up the glass, cutting your hand in the process.

“let me help you with that—“

“i do not think so.” ayo said, standing up and quickly positioning herself in a dora stance.

“if she wants my help then i’ll help her. besides it’s the nice thing to do.”

shuri scoffs as she ushered riri to go help clean the glass up, “you weren’t very nice when you constantly ridiculed y/n about her weight. even though she is perfect just the way she is. you are far too egotistical to look past that and see her beautiful personality.”

you can’t help but blush out of thankfulness at your friend’s words. it made you feel amazing knowing that these girls thought of you that way. it made you feel like you could be comfortable with yourself after all those years of thinking you were wrong for looking the way you do, when maybe your ex was the one really in the wrong.

“yeah well obviously i see where i went wrong. we had this vacation planned before we broke up, i payed my part of it. i should be able to enjoy it with her.”

“we will refund you whatever you spent for the trip. we are much better off without you here to spoil it.”

your ex laughs, “it’s a couples retreat. surely she doesn’t wanna be surrounded by you guys with no significant other.”

“actually i do.” you speak up for the first time. you had to let her get a piece of your mind. “i want you to go and i never want to see you again after this, do you hear me? you and me are done and will forever be done. this relationship i’ve had with you is more over now than it’s ever been. i’d like for you to leave.”

your ex looks around the room at all of the women now giving her death stares. her body language says that she’s nervous but her ego won’t let her show it in her words.

“fine.” she picks up her bags, “i’ll go.”

you all watch as she heads through the front door, huffing and puffing under her breathe. you can’t help but be proud of yourself for standing up to someone you’ve never been able to. it’s like starting a new chapter for yourself, and that’s a great feeling.

your friends all surround you in a great big hug and praise you for standing up for yourself. you don’t need a girlfriend when you’ve got plenty right here who love you just the way you are!

Its not tmi! Periods happen and shit gets crazy the days leading up to it and during it lol But dreams are wild and sometimes NOT fun!

And yeah Sunday was just not it honestly and a bit today too if im being honest. The book I recently got (Our Share of Night by Mariana Enríquez) isnt technically an "easy" read sooo I have yet to start it lol But my journal has been put into good use these past few days so be prepared once I reread it and send you some inspo🤪

And I'm sorry Sunday wasn't good either :( I hope today (Monday) was slightly better! Or hope that it will get better throughout the week!

BUT I do have to say bestie is that the new Protection extra did make me smile :) And it kinda made me wanna cry but like happy tears because it was just SO ADORABLE! ALSO the way you said it was going to be set a little into the future....BUT I DID NOT EXPECT TO READ ABOUT THEM BEING PARENTS?! I WAS IN SHOCK!!

Due to my poor choice of teaching 14-year-old psychopaths, I will not tell you how my week has gone thus far. I am VERY superstitious when it comes to teaching and I'm worried by telling you how the week has been I will suddenly sway the winds in another direction which I would not be prepared for; I will tell you at the end of the week so long as I make it there hahahahaha

But I am making good headway on my first book of February! I anticipate I'll be done by the end of the week. I get such reader's block ??? I get so emotionally attached to a book that it's hard to start another one. I don't think I started a new book for like a week and a half by the end of January.

I am SO happy you liked the new extra! I've had it in mind since I finished the last chapter! I definitely have other ideas for them and I know it was a little unfair to jump so far in the future, but I just had to get that out before I forgot about it. They are a special little couple if I do say so myself and I ALWAYS value your opinion but they were the first story you started chatting to me about so I feel very strongly about getting your approval on it 😭

What you think about a Christmas or like holiday fic w viktor or silco? 👀 just imagining them despising the holidays (each for their own reasons, like viktor because he has to do more research because of of other researchers taking holiday breaks. And silco because hes just salty and idk hates holidays but secretly loved the presents he receives bec if jinx or reader) like just JDJJSJD IMAGINE READER (not dating viktor yet) STAYING BEHIND AND SPENDING THE HOLIDAYS W HIM IM THE LAB AND MAYBE CONFESSING IN THE PROCESS 👀 or just simply stating they care for him. DIAKDJDJ IM JUST OMF sorry if that was a lot i just oh god Christmas viktor in stress and reader just being there for him w their support and making him something so that he can eat.. im soft oh god 😭😭

(I'm going to focus this request on Viktor, since I thought that was a cute idea! Thank you for this ask it was a lot of fun to write out!)

You entered the lab, completely unsurprised to see Viktor sat at his workbench, quickly scribbling down something in a book laid out in front of him.

You almost rolled your eyes, but not at Viktor, at Jayce, who currently wasn't present. He had told you he was going to decorate the lab last week, to try to get Viktor in the "holiday spirit", but the lab looked the exact same as it always did.

It was a week into the holidays, and so far he hadn't taken a single day off from his work. You had at first hoped that maybe the holidays would push him to take a break, seeing as everyone else had done exactly that, but it seemed not even that would keep him from this lab.

So, you decided to be a bit bolder than you usually were.

"Hey, Viktor." You called out to him, moving towards where he sat. He startled from his writing, looking towards you with clear confusion written on his face.

"I didn't expect to see you today. You're not off celebrating?"

You set down the container you carried in your arms onto the bench beside him. "Nope! I was kind of thinking... That I'd spend today with you."

"With me?" He almost asked himself, now leaning back on his chair. You were silently hoping he wasn't about to reject your offer, as you found he often did in pursuit of his work.

"I even made some ginger bread cookies!" You announced, moving to open the lid of the plastic container. He rolled his chair towards you, leaning in to get a look.

You gestured for him to take one, and he did so, albeit hesitantly. The cookie itself was crudely decorated in white frosting, and was still warm to the touch.

"Cute." He said simply, before biting off the head. His response was almost immediate. "And delicious! I've never tried these before."

You hadn't seen him smile like that in quite a while.

"Well, I was thinking we could do something today, as a small celebration..." You confessed, now awkwardly averting your gaze in preparation for rejection. "I know you're busy, so I get it if you say no."

He took another bite and a moment to respond, which only made your nerves worsen. Maybe he really didn't want to celebrate with you at all, and you had overstepped.

Finally, he turned to you with a smile, and gently replied. "I'd like that."

You swear your heart actually skipped a beat. Before you could say anything else, he spoke again.

"Ah, also, I've been meaning to ask you. What is that?"

He gestured up to the shelves that hung above the workstation, and you quickly noticed the small, plastic elf dressed in red sat up there, seemingly watching the two of you.

Damn Jayce.
