I still don't think house md was q***rbait because to me thats just not the exact flavor of the gay jokes and hints. like that's a marketing tactic right? it's a very specific use of (usually male) same sex characters who are teased to be romantically involved in order to draw in viewers. and I wasn't watching it in 2010 so correct me if I'm wrong but like...for the most part the gay jokes are designed to be seen only as jokes, not as the hidden yearnings of closeted middle-aged men, even though that reading is completely valid. I feel like im not articulating this right but house isn't gaybait the way spn or sherlock or gomens was. like there's a lot of scenarios in which characters could be gay but they're not explicitly revealed as such, for everything from censorship to subtext to simply being a joke to simply being one of several readings. and I feel like ppl apply gaybait way too broadly when it means something very particular and related to a brief yet impactful period in tv history that is arguably already over since gay people on tv are like a dime a dozen these days. even aziraphale and crowley fucking kissed

cuddy asks wilson to dinner. house thinks cuddy wants to talk business of some kind, wilson thinks cuddy wants to fuck him. house bursts into cuddy's office and catches her putting Something in her purse. house then steals her trash and rifles thru it to find out what that was, takes it to wilson and thinks he finds smth that suggests she's asking wilson specifically to dinner bc he's an oncologist and she thinks she might have cancer. the dinner itself is awkward as hell, but not unusual in really in any way that a dinner btwn friends would be. wilson maintains that it was a date but he steals her spoon to test her saliva for cancers. it's negative and house shows up to cuddy's office w the report to confront her abt the fact that she's taking fertility medication. cuddy wants a kid really bad and the dinner was to see if wilson would want to be her donor, but during said dinner she asked him abt wanting kids and he didn't give her a clear answer thus eliminating him as a donor. wilson does not know this and later they all meet at an elevator and stare at each other awkwardly for 5 seconds. Girl.
