Top 5 wrestlers any place and why?
top five RASSLERS || @perchtdont
nick gage (gcw). the why part of this is so long. like...how to explain things here. nicky is my favorite wrestler ever. i say with my whole chest that i do not think there is another (at least american) wrestler that has as strong a connection to their fans as nick gage does. for a lot of us being mdk, being in the gang, means something very real to us. it's a place we belong. when you look a guy in his eyes & tell him how his silly lil stabby glass breaky rasslin & gang saved your life & he genuinely responds back to you "i wouldn't be alive without you guys either" there's something truly special. nick gage has such a a special, genuine connection with his fans & he is truly a wrestler above most. i could talk a lot about this, i could really go into it, but i'll leave it here. nicky just is special. also he explicitly supports the queer community, & makes his gang & shows a safe space for us (like it's not just him at gcw doing this though).
jon moxley (aew, gcw). when i started watching wrestling it was during the kinda closing of the omega/mox feud. i hadn't really find the wrestler i connected with yet, i had a bunch i liked though. can't remember the first mox match but i do remember just very easily finding myself invested in mox. the exploding barbed wire deathmatch is the most significant match to me as a wrestling fan. everything he does is good, even the bad stuff. he doesn't exactly have what i say nick gage has but his genuine self really connects with people. also mox's love of deathmatches/hardcore is what lead me to discover that kind of wrestling which lead me to wanting to be that kind of wrestler. so mox gave me my dream & love for wrestling.
bryan danielson (aew, roh). i know everyone's like of course its cuz u think he's hot. FALSE. well, i do but everyone on my list is hot. i actually kinda hate having bryan on my top five list because it feels generic (sorry bry but you seemed too hyped to be that good) but kenny vs bryan seriously changed my definition of good wrestling. i used to not get technical wrestling (& i really wanted to bc it's nicky's favorite kinda wrestling) but bryan changed that. then i stumbled on bryan vs kenny vs tyler black which just...fucking slaps. bryan became one of my favorites before he was even stalking mox. i also like the man behind the wrestler a lot.
minoru suzuki (everywhere). this is the coolest motherfucker in pro wrestler. not only is he cool as fuck but the dude has just such a fucking understanding of wrestling. not just the moves & the holds & the whatever. no, suzuki gets pro wrestling. like seriously having read some of his shoot interviews & his in character ones, the guy has such a mind for it. the way suzuki brings legitimacy to the sport of pro wrestling is fucking amazing. not only that but suzuki works to use his credibility to legitimize others. effy v suzuki is a good example. it's still a fucking effy match but suzuki brings his vibe to it as well. the dude is who i look to when i want to understand something about pro wrestling that's maybe just not clicking. he also is very humble & just loves what he does. it shows. i just really respect & admire suzuki. ive been so fucking fortunate. i saw him 3 times in 2 days during which he earned his first US title (roh tv championship), & that's like...such a thing for me. like i start to cry thinking about it, it makes me so happy. his chops sound unearthly (like legit not of this earth) in real life.
eddie kingston (aew, chikara, deffy, njpw). i mean...like yall been on my blog. yall know how i feel about eddie. ive spent the last like day running my mouth about eddie which is fitting since all he does is run his mouth which is what i love about him. i could write an essay. but i'll break it down like this. the way he and mox are, the players tribune article, his love & influence from king's road, the genuine way he expresses himself, & his sense of style are why eddie is one of my all time greats.

🧪 ‘s anaesthesia HCs
Tumblr media
z’s notes: okay greenie, once again these are fucking suPERB. all of them are so good i truly cannot pick a fav, but emilia’s are so fucking funny to me like the drunk-pretending-to-be-sober-thinking-theyre-doing-so-well-but-theyre-being-so-weird is just, its so funny to think about
“I’m really glad you liked the sleep hcs I didn’t see that you posted those!! I’ll rewrite the other ones I sent you really quick!!
Peacemaker characters if they were on anesthesia after a surgery:
Chris literally cries. Like one of those sappy drunks does. He’ll just super gingerly hug you because he knows he’s muscley and doesn’t wanna hurt you and then he just starts sobbing. And telling you how grateful he is for you. If you offer to get him ice cream he’ll start absolutley balling and when he eats it he’ll act like it’s the best thing he’s ever had. Also if a song he likes comes on he’ll cry and scream it at the top of his lungs. After he’s done crying he’ll just gently hold you hand and smile at you for no reason.
Adrian seems like he’s insane. He’ll just be laughing then get super serious and say something like “I can feel my bones and it’s fucking nauseating”. Then he’ll be silent for a few seconds and just start laughing maniacally. Also he forgets random things. He’ll look at Chris and be like “omg youre peacemaker” and Chris is like “yeah dude we’re literally friends” and he’ll be like “WERE FRIENDS???:DDDD”. And if you’re sitting down he’ll literally get up and lay on you. Like, hugging you but sitting on your lap. Totally unprompted. And he won’t move.
John looks like he’s seen god. He’s really confused too. Also he’ll just silently really gently grab your hand and start messing around with your fingers. And to be honest he’ll eat things he shouldn’t?? Like if he gets an ice cream cone that’s wrapped in a napkin he’ll take a bite out of the napkin and not even notice. And he gets weirdly whiney? Like if you stop holding his hand so you can drive he’ll be like “heyyyy :(“. And he’ll also infodump but like mumbling and mostly to himself.
Emilia is like a drunk person trying to pretend to be sober. Will fall over. Gets mad if you tell her what to do so she’ll do the exact opposite. It ends in very awkward situations including her leaning halfway out the car window for like five minutes and having a close call with a low flying bird. She also tries way to hard to pretend to be sober and acts weirdly professional. Like. Aggressively puts her hand on your shoulder and says “have a good evening. I have to go do taxes now”.
Leota is the same except 100 times more confident and energetic. Rants about her fur babies for a solid twenty minutes and eventually her sentences just dissolve into happy squeaking noises. And she starts crying and yelling “I LOVE MY WIFE SO MUCH”. She’ll try to have an arm wrestling contest with Chris and won’t stop until he lets her win. Has an arm wrestling contest with Adrian and licks her hand right before so when she grabs his hand he’s in shock and he loses. Also is way to hyper and almost rips out her stitches but eventually just collapses.
Murn is the same but he laughs a lot and it scares the shit out of Adrian because he has feelings? And John is recording the whole thing because HE HAS FEELINGS

Khabib Nurmagomedov: UFC’s first Muslim star on the verge of greatness
The 28-year-old Dagestani brawler boasts a 24-0 record but he faces the stiffest test of his MMA on Saturday with the interim lightweight title on the line
Since its founding in 1993, a diverse mix of men and women have laid claim to belts as the best of the best in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 209 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, 28-year-old Dagestani mixed martial artist Khabib Nurmagomedov seeks to become the first Muslim to join the list.
Boasting a 24-0 record built over the course of a nine-year career, The Eagle, as he likes to be called, brings a particularly hard and damaging grappling style into the Octagon that was hammered into him since he could walk the rugged terrain on which generations of North Caucasian men have been instructed to battle.
These are the people and places Nurmagomedov conjures as he prepares to fight.
I feel I represent my country. Not only my country, but all former USSR countries, because I have very big fanbase here and I have more than a billion Muslim fans, Nurmagomedov told the Guardian. I feel I represent these guys all around the world. My fans. This gives me very good energy. When I go to the cage I think about these people.
More and more, they think about him.
Few fighters in the MMA have cultivated a relationship with fans the way Nurmagomedov has. The unbeaten contender boasts 1.9 million followers on Instagram, and has drawn large crowds of Russian and Muslim supporters. The UFC has attempted to make in-roads to promoting events in Russia, and Nurmagomedov is a major reason why.
Upon his return to Makhachkala, Dagestan, after dominating Michael Johnson in November, hundreds of fans greeted him at the airport. If he manages to become the 71st fighter in UFC history to win a belt, the reception is likely to bloom well beyond that. Wherever he goes, whatever he does, Nurmagomedov, who speaks English with an entertaining flair, has shown an ability to connect with people, whether or not they identify with him on cultural, ethnic or religious grounds.
Drawing upon his heritage and faith, the UFCs first Muslim star is on the verge of realizing the greatness that was set out for him in his earliest days. Like his father, Abdulmanap, Khabib began wrestling, as most Dagestani boys do, near the age of eight. Abdulmanap excelled at judo and combat sambo, a form of martial art linked to the Russian military, and went on to counsel many Dagestani children in the ways of self-defense and fitness as much a rite of passage as a simple competitive exercise. At the top of the class, of course, was Khabib. From the outset of his training Khabib displayed natural gifts, and his father sought to push these traits to their limit.
Famously, a video surfaced in 2015 that showed Kabib, nine at the time, successfully wrestling a bear cub to the delight of Abdulmanap, an esteemed wrestling coach under the old USSR sports program. The son never stopped going after the cub, such was his desire to please his father. That sensibility has only grown stronger over the years, leading him to the stiffest test of his professional MMA career this weekend against American dynamo Tony El Cucuy Ferguson (22-3).
I think when I win this fight that my skill will be better than his skill, Nurmagomedov said of Ferguson, a wild and rangy challenger who could easily present problems. He is unpredictable. He has good knees, good elbows. I think my game is much better than his game. Most important, I have my heart which is more big than his head. I think thats why Im going to win this fight.
Five years ago, Nurmagomedov sought to perfect his skills away from Dagestan, where proper sparring partners became sparse while distractions mounted as his profile expanded, so he joined trainer Javier Mendez and the assortment of top-tier fighters and wrestlers toiling daily at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California. Nurmagomedov said he took to San Jose, and remains comfortable being a devout Muslim in the US, at a moment in time when others in his position might not feel the same.
I know America is very nice and very good people, he said. Im a professional athlete. I come here. I never have a problem with somebody about my religion, about my name. I am happy.
Im always comfortable because I never do anything wrong. All the time I do something right. I follow all the rules. Why do I have to feel uncomfortable?
Following Nurmagomedovs debut in the US with the UFC in 2012, its been his opponents who have felt uneasy after being driven to the canvas and mauled. Along the way any difficulties he suffered had more to with injuries, including a series of setbacks with his knees, than politics or what his foes could do. He briefly flirted with walking away from fighting after breaking a rib in 2015. That incident delayed a matchup with the man he fights Saturday, another bout in which Nurmagomedov will be expected to rely on his grappling because this is where he is significantly better than anyone he has fought.
I dont think Ive had anyone thats as good as him at doing that, said Mendez, who has trained the likes of UFC champions Daniel Cormier and Cain Velasquez. Mendez has served as Khabibs chief second in place of his father since 2012. Hes just an incredibly tenacious grappler who just wont quit. Hes a badger in a way, in that you aint stopping him.
Two months prior to fights in the octagon, Nurmagomedov makes the trip to California to focus on his preparation.
I train, eat, sleep and repeat.
Yet fans continue to find him to express their admiration. Among American Muslims, few athletes these days have drawn their attention as much as Nurmagomedov. Prior to traveling to Las Vegas for the Ferguson fight, cameras following the fighter for UFCs online documentary series Embedded caught a group of supporters making a surprise visit to AKA to wish him will. He promised them he would become the UFCs first Muslim champion and they cheered intensely. As the face of a growing crop of Muslims competing and excelling in mixed martial arts, Nurmagomedov has come to represent more than a dominant competitor to the many people who love watching him fight.
I feel theyre waiting for my victory, he said. I feel a lot of people are waiting for this belt. They want me to win this belt and Im going to do this for sure.
