A Tale of a Thousand Stars ep 8 thoughts/reaction

did i watch this episode secretly on my phone while i was in class bc i couldn’t stand waiting a whole hour to watch the new ep? maybe

tian visiting torfun’s memorial to leave flowers and tell her that he’s going to pha pun dao was sweet

also him and phupha missing each other again was just a really nice scene and phupha wondering who left her flowers

i have decided to forgive dr nam for last episode (the snooping not the flirting thing) bc i know he was just concerned about his friend and he didn’t intend for phupha to have that kind of reaction, but he still should’ve confronted tian directly before telling phupha

the way tian is looking at longtae in the beginning, seeing how supportive he’s being and knowing that he’s probably about to lose longtae as well

god this scene was so painful to watch, just knowing what was coming

but the editing that combines tian’s speech with phupha reading through the notebook

also, thank you to the writers for confirming that the tian/torfun similarities are bc he’s been reading the notebook and not because torfun’s spirit is possessing him, i didn’t think they would do that but nice to have confirmation

poor tian really did go there with the best intentions

oof, when the music goes silent when phupha interrupts his speech

also, i said this last week, but it should’ve been the rangers responsibility to tell everyone torfun had died and the fact that they didn’t only added to tian’s burden and the animosity aimed at him, and it annoyed me the way the rangers (perhaps unintentionally) let tian take on the full blame and didn’t admit that they had known about torfun’s death from the start

god and the way tian’s heart break is visible on his face as soon as phupha interrupts/confronts him and he realizes that phupha won’t be on his side

and mix’s acting in this scene (and the entire episode) is just so good, you can see the way he’s desperately trying to keep in together and not completely break down, and his heartbreak when he realizes he’s all alone

also, i made a longer post about how i understand phupha’s reaction, I think it’s pretty natural and that he’s not overreacting, however, i do wish he hadn’t confronted tian so publicly like that

just everything about this scene is just so good in the most painful way, especially the sad orchestral version of the theme song

now i think this ep is too sad for me to say it’s my favorite, but from a narrative/cinematography perspective it is my favorite, it was just really well done

i was really hoping the kids would have a bigger role this ep and begin the forgiveness process for the rest of the village, so i was excited when Meejoo came but then p’aof decided to stab me directly in the heart when she asked what death is

(also im sorry but how old are these kids that she doesn’t know what the word death is?)

(also given that everything that happens in this ep happens within like a 30 hour period, i still hold hope for the kids forgiving next ep once they have some time to process)

at least they didn’t make me watch the scene where tian had to explain what death was, that would’ve killed me

i understand the villager’s reactions too, and i do kind of wish tian would just stay home and give them some time to grieve and process before trying to interact with them–i don’t blame tian for keeping the truth from them this long, but he does need to respect the pain they’re going through

also this scene with phupha really fucked me up, the way phupha remains stone faced even though he’s clearly in a lot of pain

“i wish i could return it to her” one of the things about this story that really fucks me up is that you can’t have both torfun and tian--torfun had to die for tian to live, and if torfun had lived then tian would have died and all the characters are in a way stuck with this moral dilemma of “choosing” between tian and torfun, even if the decision was already made for them, and tian has had to deal with this problem since the beginning and made his choice a long time ago that he would have preferred that torfun had lived instead of him bc he feels like she had more to live for and left behind more than he would’ve

also the scene is so much more painful knowing that just that morning phupha had finally said out loud that he wanted tian to stay

and i was really ton this scene between understanding phupha’s reaction and where he’s coming from but also being like “please stop talking to my son like that, he feels bad enough as is”

i have often had the emotion of “i want to walk through the screen so i can give this character a hug” and i have literally never felt it stronger than this episode of atots

also thank you to dr nam who told phupha not that he was wrong for his actions, but that he should’ve confronted tian differently, also for figuring out that tian wasn’t the driver

the fact that tian just walked through the tea field so he knows that either khama was lying to him or that longtae saw him in the field and hid from him

poor longtae tho, thought he knew what was coming then was hit with “im responsible for her death”

you know what? i didn’t realize khama would have such a recurring role from the first episode, but i really like him--he’s trying to do his best for the village and that isn’t always easy and he’s the first to try to think about tian’s perspective even when it’s clearly difficult for him

also i love khaotung, he does a really good job as longtae, and as much as i loved him as chonlatee, i prefer him in more mature roles like longtae or fong

did dr nam really think phupha would keep letting tian stay in his room?

it came as a surprise to likely no one but i am glad to have definitve confirmation that tian was in fact not driving the car

against my wishes, tul did not show up this episode to give tian a hug so i hope he’s in the next ep to provide some much needed emotional support

tian’s involvement in torfun’s death is also complicated because to say he had no responsibility in it would be wrong but to say he had full responsibility wouldn’t be right either, there was so much of the situation that was just due to chance, as it the case in any accident, so i appreciate the nuance of the narrative in that tian does take responsibility (even if he takes too much) but other characters like longtae argue that it’s not his fault, bc it’s easy from an outside perspective to say it’s not tian’s fault but it would be much harder to be in tian’s position and not feel responsible that his actions lead to torfun’s death

longtae is truly best boi

tian saying he’s okay with just longtae understanding him is so sad but at the same time it’s good that he’s not trying to force other people to understand or forgive him

now i really want to know what torfun’s wish is bc you know it’s going to be all meaningful and thematically relevant

istg if i had a fucking nickel for every time tian has tried to give me a heart attack

i spent the entirety of part 4 yelling at tian to just stop being stupid

like i get it, you don’t feel like you have the time to waste to go find phupha, but still

also im worried that maybe the reason he was so adamant about doing it himself and not finding phupha was because he didn’t feel like he could go to phupha or that phupha might not believe him

tian please just listen to longtae being the voice of reason

or at least send longtae back to the village to go get phupha if you’re this determined

as soon as he pulled out his phone i fucking knew the flash would go off bc tian can’t be smart without also being dumb

pls don’t hit my son he has a weak heart

longtae running away like “i didn’t sign up for this shit”

pls stop hitting my son

i was wondering how tian’s dad would become involved in the story again and tian name dropping him to escape being killed by poachers was not it

but sakda was clearly scared when tian first said the name so obvi they’re connected and i’m assuming the person who called tian’s dad was either sakda or one of the other men there which means that tian’s dad is doing illegal shit (surprise surprise)

tian i know you’re stressed but pls let rang provide first aid

that montage at the end tho really hit me

also the parallels between this scene and the one when tian fainted in the field, it’s literally the exact same scene but the roles are reversed

also the fucking post credits scene, the emotional whiplash, the pain from knowing phupha said this stuff literally hours before everything went wrong

the way i squealed when phupha said i do (and throught the rest of the scene), it was literally the sweetest thing, it might be my favorite phutian moment so far

so for the last two episodes, im assuming that tian’s dad coming to get him and the dad being involved in illegal stuff will be the main external conflict, i wouldn’t be surprised if next ep ended with the dad showing up and demanding to take tian back

also the next ep preview, khama telling tian to forgive himself, im weak

this episode just made me feel so much, the story is just so complex and nuanced, and the characters are real and messy, and pls more bl in the future that aren’t afraid to tell more serious stories (as much as i love the romcom style of most bls i would love some more variety)

Never Fallen from Quite This High

[PROMPT: one-shot about Can being jealous and Tin dealing with that. From: Maoshi over at Ao3 THANK YOU <3] They were friends, damn near best friends.

At least, to everyone else they were. It wasn’t exactly how he wanted it, but while Can adjusted to the idea of having a boyfriend (though two months in Tin wasn’t sure how much adjusting he needed) and while he adjusted to having something he was terrified Tul would try to harm, they were keeping their relationship quiet. There were only a few people that didn’t seem to believe that was all they were, Pete of course was forever questioning what was going on between them, and with Pete came his Thai Program boyfriend who didn’t seem to like it when Pete questioned it, but he could sense him watching. Protecting. Ridiculous, since he’d ruin anyone who so much as touched a single hair on Can’s head. Unfortunately for everyone else, the threat was not only real, Tin had the means to do it and enough hurt buried in him to do so without remorse. Can was the only thing that kept him together, his life line, the one person who stomped out the raging fires before they could spread, offering calm instead and all he needed was to look at him to find peace.

He hated it being a secret, but there was one benefit that came along with it. Can jealous was just about the cutest thing he’d ever seen in his life. He had no cause to be jealous, his heart was Can’s, he’d already made it very clear that he was head-over-heels in love with him, much to Can's embarrassment. That had been cute as well, and so he said it whenever he was sure no one was listening, just to see the way Can’s face would heat up, watch him slap his hands over his face… and every now and again announce that he thought he was going to shit over it.

The jealousy came in different forms, it came whenever a girl was a bit too persistent in trying to get his number. Somehow the news always reached Can’s ears, and he most certainly didn’t find a way to make sure it did. He’d later find his boyfriend waiting for him, a pout already formed on his lips, his arms crossed in frustration.

It sometimes came simply because his little sister seemed to think there was something going on between him and Pete. Can hated the way she shipped them, even when Tin tried to point out that it was actually kind of funny that while she was shipping him with Pete, he was making out with her older brother just outside of her notice. After being denied so many kisses, after Can tried so hard to fight against them… they could hardly keep their lips off of each other now. It made hiding the relationship difficult, but he got a thrill out of seeing just how far they could push it before they got caught. He had a suspicion that Can did too. That or he was just far too jealous to stop it. Which was exactly how they’d ended up kissing just under the football stands, around the corner from where she was talking about how cute Pete was. Can had initiated that kiss, he’d practically attacked his mouth, and thus far it was one of Tin’s top five favorites that they’d shared.

Thanks to Ley, the jealousy even came when he talked to Pete. Did Tin talk to him perhaps just a bit more to get a rise out of Can? Certainly not. Of course not. He wouldn’t ever. It benefited Pete as well, at least, because as they stood talking, and in truth they were only talking about a project they had to work on together, he could see both Can and Ae out of the corner of his eyes, both with clenched fists, both pointedly staring and not discussing what they were angry about. Can because he couldn’t, Ae because well… who knew, he didn’t try to understand Pete’s little boyfriend.

“When you finish your portion of the information gathering, can you email it to me? I’ll put it together with mine and then we can figure it out from there?” Pete’s voice broke him out of his thoughts, and he offered an indifferent nod of his head.

“I’m almost done, I’ll get it to you tomorrow,” he shrugged, checking his phone as he glanced towards Can, who was now facing away, his hand pointing towards the field as he spoke with Pete’s boyfriend. Pete himself cheerfully agreed that getting his part of the assignment the next day worked, but something else had his attention, his hand over his mouth as he stifled the laughter that was shaking his shoulders. “What is it, now?” He questioned, his voice bored - he didn’t actually care, in truth, but he figured Pete was probably going to tell him anyway. Whatever was making him laugh was on his phone, Pete’s eyes were locked on it.

“Are you very sure you and Can aren’t… you know… together?” The words were giggled, an actual damn giggle. His eyes roamed back over to where the guy that actually was his boyfriend stood, his back was still facing away. But he noted that Can also had his phone in hand. Tin slowly looked back to Pete’s phone as his curiosity piqued. What did Can’s crazy ass do now?

“Last I checked we were not, as I’ve told you before. He’s a good friend.” That didn’t seem to put a stop to the flow of giggles, they only increased as Pete handed his phone over for Tin to look at, instagram already pulled up on it’s screen.

“Scroll back up a bit, Can… find Can,” it didn’t take long, it never did, he had his profile picture, his account name committed to memory. It was Tin now biting back a laugh, a picture of him and Can that they’d taken just after one of his games showing as his latest update. There wasn’t anything about it that screamed that they were dating, his arm was around Can, and he was actually smiling for a change while Can positively beamed. What did make it seem like something was going on was the caption, and the fact that Lemon had not only been tagged but had commented demanding an explanation that Can argued against.

The caption said nothing more than MY friend, the word my in all caps as though he was trying to prove a point. Lemon tagged just beside it. The comments below were a small sibling argument that had Tin stuck biting the side of his hand as he read it, both to stop the smile and to keep himself grounded.

“Something wrong, Cantaloupe?” He questioned as they made their way into his bedroom, his boyfriend immediately dropping his bag unceremoniously on the floor and flopping himself dramatically on his bed. He knew what was wrong, he’d known earlier in the day from his actions, from the picture he’d posted where Ley had demanded to know why he cared who she shipped him with. The pout hadn’t left his lips since, and Tin only saw one real solution. As far as he was concerned, Tul could go straight to hell, it wasn’t like he’d ever allow him near Can anyway. Therefore, the metaphorical ball was left with Can, he could either send it towards the goal - the goal that let everyone know they were together, that they were in love even if Can had yet to utter the words, or he could keep dribbling the ball and allowing his jealousy to grow.

Tin, for his part, was very much hoping he’d be the strong football player he knew he was and kick that ball as hard as he could towards the net.

“You’re MY boyfriend! Not Ai’Pete’s! Or anyone else's, it makes me so mad,” he could see that, and though he tried to sympathize with the man laying on his bed, he couldn’t help but smile as he kicked his legs wildly in frustration, the loud oiiiiii sounding through the air.

“All yours, forever, so what’s the problem?” He was egging it on just slightly, pretending he didn’t know the problem, but of course he did. Still, Tin sat down beside where Can lay, raising his eyebrows as he was glared at.

“No one knows! Ley has people thinking you might be with Pete! Then there’s that girl that’s always talking to you. I heard someone ask someone else if you were dating her and they said they thought you might be! But you aren’t!” Tin reached a hand out, gently cupping Can’s face as he leaned down, brushing his lips over his.

“So tell the world. Correct your post, I’m not your friend Can.” Can lay in silence, Tin’s face staying quite close as he watched his expression shift. Wide eyes turned to determination, and though Can never said the words, he wore his emotions clearly on his face. He wanted to hear those three words so badly, but seeing the love written there plain as day was enough. For now.

“Will you take a picture with me, Tin?”

“You don’t even have to ask. You just have to send it to me.” Can’s phone was in his hand the moment he said he would, the camera opened. What Tin had expected was the typical picture they so often took, side by side, eyes turned towards the camera (though admittedly, more often than not, his own eyes ended up on Can), one of them with a wide smile and the other with the smallest of smiles. Tin started to sit up for that very picture, surprised as he was pulled back down, Can’s lips crashing into his, his fingers immediately tangling in his hair. The picture was forgotten, his eyes falling shut as he eagerly returned the kiss, as he breathed him in. The shutter sound as a picture was taken was what caused him to break away, his eyes on Can’s phone as he saw a picture of them kissing up on the screen.

Before anything else, Can pulled up his texts, sending the picture to Tin before he pulled up instagram. Not only did he feel complete shock, but a wave of relief watching his boyfriend post a picture of them kissing, a caption this time in all caps that only said MY BOYFRIEND with not only Ley tagged, but him this time. He felt a surge of pride, of love, as he watched the smile that spread over Can’s face. Tin moved to lay beside him, his own phone in his hand as he saved the picture, and before Can could stop him, posted it to his own instagram.

Except his caption was a bit more.

I love you, Cantaloupe.

Hi my first time doing this but I love your stories. Can I have a TinCan when they are already in a relationship and is Tin's birthday. Can is used to his family a friends celebrating and showing affection so he is trying to do the same for Tin but when he gets a little emotional he finds out that his family has always ignored his birthday & never celebrated it so he tells his mom and they give Tin a real birthday celebration with cake, food, songs, kisses and all the love he never had before.

TinCan Ficlet [AO3]

Can got the message on the 9th of November in the morning. He wasn’t really awake, so he just grabbed the phone from the bedside table and lied back, the phone forgotten in his hand. It didn’t stop vibrating.“Why doesn’t he have anything better to do than text me in the middle of the night?”, he asked his pillow with closed eyes. After a few minutes, he squinted at the screen and frowned because it wasn’t Tin who had messaged him. It was Ai Pete.

‘I’m not sure if he already told you.’‘I mean Ai Tin.’‘Maybe he did, but if he didn’t I want you to know that Tin’s birthday is on November the 11th.’

Can read the message again. He sat up in a rush and tried to unlock his phone as fast as possible. He had no idea how but instead it slipped out of his hands and fell to the floor.

“Shit, dammit,” he cursed. He climbed out of the bed and joined his phone on the carpet. The line chat opened up, but Ai Pete’s message stayed the same. It was Tin’s birthday in two days.

Why didn’t he know that?

He opened his line chat with Tin, but there was nothing new, the pictures Tin always sent before he went to bed and Can’s memes Can sent back because cheesy goodnight messages made him blush.

He bit his lower lip and typed.

‘Is the 11th November your birthday?’

‘Good morning to you too Cantaloupe,’ was the fast reply. Can rolled his eyes.

‘Is it??’‘Yes. Why?’

“Why? Why he asks?” The nerve of this guy. ‘It’s your birthday!’‘No need for exclamation marks. It’s just another day.’

“Another day?”, Can yelled at the screen. How can he… how?? This was… blasphemy!

“Ley!”, he shouted. He thumped against the wall, but no answer. She wasn’t in her room when he went looking so he scampered down the stairs. Gucci lifted his head for a second, saw it was just Can and went back to sleep with a huff.

“Ley?” “Your sister is out with her friends!”, his mum yelled back from the garden. Great! The one time he wanted his sister’s help for his relationship and she wasn’t available.

“Why are you yelling? It’s Sunday and you’re awake before noon. Are you ill?” His mum slipped out of her garden shoes and smacked him with some sunflowers.

“It’s Tin’s birthday in two days.”“Oh? How exciting, are you two doing something nice together?”

Can took a deep breath. His mum had to be strong now.

“He said it’s just another day.”

The sunflowers fell to the floor and his mum stumbled backwards, falling down dramatically on the chair. She clutched her imaginary pearls. “No!”“Yes!”

“Oh, this poor boy! The young master without love every year alone on his birthday…” Can rolled his eyes and picked up the flowers.“Mum, this is not one of your dramas.” But you’re probably right, he thought. If half of what Tin told about Tul was right he had probably made Tin’s past birthdays as hellish as possible. His phone vibrated and he saw that Tin had sent another message.

‘You can give me kisses for my birthday if you care so much.’

Of course, I care, he wanted to shout but he didn’t want to alarm his mother to the message. He had thought that Tin would tell him his birthdate eventually and he would have more than two days to prepare something for him. This sucked! Would Tin want a birthday party? Did he even know what a birthday party was?

“We should at least invite him to dinner, don’t you think?”

Can nodded vehemently. Screw what Tin wanted. He wanted a birthday party for his boyfriend, so he was going to get a birthday party.

“Why are you so nervous?”

Can looked up and realized that he still gnawed on his fingernail. “I’m not nervous.” To be safe he slid his hands under his thighs. It was his luck that Tin had to concentrate on driving because he wasn’t sure if he could survive an investigation. Tin had the habit to just look at Can until he started to switch and fidget and everything would break out of him.

“You didn’t invite the football team, right?”

Can rolled his eyes because Tin made it sound like prison gang instead of football team. “It’s just us, my mum, dad, Ley and you. No one else invited.” Maybe he should have invited someone? But Tin was in a very weird state with Can’s friends at the moment.

He always said he tolerated Good which was a lie. He liked Good and they had a weird silent communication thing going on between them. Can wasn’t sure how he felt about that. He glared at P’Techno a lot wherefore P’Type glared at Tin in return. P’Champ wanted to invite Tin to drink with them all the time but Can hadn’t confronted Tin with drunk-Can yet and wanted to save that for a special occasion. Everyone else of the team was nervous around Tin.

Maybe he should have invited Ai Pete? But Ai Pete wouldn’t come without Ae and then Ae and Tin would sit across each other playing who would blink first.

No. Thank you.

If he was absolutely earnest with himself the idea to have Ai Pete at the party didn’t sit right with him. He liked Ai Pete. A lot, but… The pictures of Ley on that damn Twitter account were still in his mind and he didn’t like how everyone had commented under the picture how perfect Tin and Pete looked next to each other.

“You’re sure you’re alright?” Tin’s frown was directed at the street and made Can feel a little guilty.“Peachy,” he said and cringed inwardly.

Tin stopped the car in front of Can’s house and Can knew he had to act quick before Tin would start to ask questions.

He hastily unfastened his seatbelt and grabbed Tin by the neck. As always Tin simply waited for him and for a moment Can just pressed their lips together until Tin let go of the steering wheel and laid his hands on Can’s waist and stroked him as if he wanted to pet the nervousness out of him.

Tin tilted his head and made soft sounds as Can nipped at his lips. There was always a point when Can’s self-confident vanished and Tin seemed to feel it every time. He flicked the tip of his tongue against Can’s lower lip and Can gasped, his insecurities forgotten. Finally, Tin curved one of his hands along Can’s jawline and licked into Can’s mouth teasingly. Can felt shivery and aroused and if his heart would burst out of his chest. He had to break the kiss to take huge gulps of air and before he forgot why they were sitting in Tin’s car in front of Can’s house.

“Your first birthday kiss,” he murmured and his voice shook a little. Sometimes he was afraid of all the feelings Tin evoked in him. Tin stroked over his hair and played with his earlobe. Can liked that a lot and he saw in Tin’s eyes the same fears so it was okay. “There will be more?” Tin’s voice sounded hoarse and Can was sure if he asked him to start the car, turn around and drive them back to Tin’s apartment he would do so. But they had a party to attend.

“Maybe,” he answered cheerfully and climbed out of the car. He opened Tin’s door because he took too long and grabbed his arm to drag him along.

He knew that Tin braced himself for Can’s family to yell Happy Birthday at him the moment they entered the house and they did. With thrown confetti and party hats and a big, bright cake with candles. And Tin wasn’t prepared at all. He squeezed Can’s hand hard but Can let him go so that his mum could force him to bend down to her height and hug him. Ley ordered him to blow out the candles and Can made him pose with Gucci, who wore a bowtie for the special occasion. They sang to Tin and it was loud and out of tune and Can’s mum filmed everything.

“Presents,” Can yelled and made Tin sit on the couch. “No presents… I don’t need…”“PRESENTS!”, Can shouted over Tin’s protest and at the end of the day, he wouldn’t remember what they gave Tin. He remembered that he gave Tin a birthday party with only four guests but all the warmth of a real family. He remembered Tin’s smile and his shining eyes and how he pressed his face in Can’s neck as if he wanted nothing else but to stay there for the rest of his life.

“Thank you,” he whispered against his skin and Can felt words stuck in his throat. Words he would say to Tin eventually, but not today. “Happy birthday,” he said instead.

here we go

damn, phupha’s really been whipped from the start, huh?

awww, tian leaving the sticky notes for the next teacher

i can’t handle this, why are goodbyes so sad

you know what? im usually crazy about child characters very much but i would absolutely die for each of the children

meejoo wanting to be a teacher like tian 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

even khama tearing up at having to say goodbye and the rest of the village crying, how could tian ever leave them???

“this might not be as good as your designer clothes” ofc its not its way better

phupha you told him to leave forever and don’t even have the guts to say goodbye

the way tian’s voice wavers when he says 1 2 3

if his parents could see this group hug they never would’ve made him come back home

the parallel of him crying as he walks away from the villagers as he loses them once again

tian really said this is my jacket now

i called it, last week i predicted tian would finally see torfun’s wish and it would turn out that he had already fulfilled it

tian writing about all the things he doesn’t have to do anymore despite the fact that he is now doing those things

the product placements used to be horny but now they’re just sad

it’s the little details, like tian going back to having the parted bangs when he’s in bangkok that are a bit more stylish but when he was in pha pun dao (and when he’s back in the post credit scenes) he didn’t style his hair

tian, i’m glad you found a love for northern food but i can’t help but be reminded when your doctor specifically told you not to eat spicy food

tul knows what’s up

character A talking about character B then the scene cutting to character B sneezing is one of my favorite troops in asian media lol

dr nam also knows what’s up (and everyone else in the village)

i think i understand tian a bit better bc i feel like last ep i was kind of confused why tian just accepted leaving when there wasn’t anything truly forcing him to do so, but i think it’s bc tian has always had this mindset of following what his parents want so he thinks of that future with his parents as somewhat set in stone even if the path there is flexible, so even though i wish he hadn’t had to leave the village i do think it’s important that he had this period of realizing that he can choose his own future

i like mr winai, he’s cool

the metaphor of the flower being tian, when he’s coddled too much by his parents he withers, but when he really experiences life and faces it he blossoms

also “the place that fits you will make you grow”

it must be so frustrating for tian to have gone through all that, to have finally put his all into something, to have experienced all the ups and downs and then to have everyone reduce that experience to just “a rich kid having some fun pretending to struggle for a little while”

okay but how prestigious a university do you need to go to for teaching tho? like not to reduce the difficulty of teaching or anything but does he really need to go overseas?

what with nam flirting in the eearly episodes, i wish he and the show had treated the wedding more as his wedding than just an excuse for phupha and tian to reunite, like marriage is kind of a big deal

unpopular opinion maybe but phupha’s suit is lowkey kinda ugly

on the other hand, yod and rang look fantastic

now i do think it was important for tian to finish his degree and spend the two years teachings but in an ideal world they would’ve reconnected at the wedding and kissed and gone back to pha pun dao together

poor tian tho, thinking phupha is specifically avoiding him, that shit hurts

i still can’t tell if phupha was actually avoiding him bc i feel like if he was he wouldn’t’ve come back and he seemed surprised to see tian

the song that plays when phupha comes is so good and the lyrics fit the situation so well, honestly this whole sequence of phupha staring at him then tian returning back home while this song plays was for me one of the most emotional scenes this ep

in ideal world #2 phupha would’ve goon to the airport to stop him not just send him off

also, tian in the black turtleneck with phupha’s jacket is a look

that phone call though with the long silences as neither is quite sure what to say and they’re too emotional to say more

the whole airport scene has really got me fucked up

just everything about it

phupha saying he wouldn’t be able to forget him and he doesn’t want them to forget each other

that hug tho

and then the second one

and the mom’s reaction has me cracking up, poor woman is the only one with zero context for this whole interaction

kiss him on the lips you coward

okay but the rangers taking over as teachers while waiting for the new one is adorable

also the kids teasing phupha about tian some high quality content

“where is the angel now?” “In the US probably” “he just avoids saying it directly” im gonna say it again but i would die for these kids

i think my biggest complaint about the ending is that we never see tian’s reunion with the kids, i kept waiting for that

okay but did tian suggest faking the security threat or did one of the other rangers suggest and tian was like “perfect”?

its sweet that he buried the notebook on the cliff, that’s where torfun would want to be put to rest

phupha, what did you see your endgame being if it wasn’t tian returning to pha pun dao?

also, earth looks really good in the lighting of the sunset

then earth’s softer version of the OST in the background (i still like aye’s version better bc its amazing, but earth’s is nice too)

lol phupha used a pick up line on tian

the post-credit scene gave me life, it is everything

when gmmtv decides to make our skyy season 2 there’d better be 50 whole minutes of just scenes like this for them

the way they’re laying in bed parallels the first time they slept next to each other

i can’t believe it’s over, y’all, like what a journey, i truly wasn’t expecting the story to be so emotional and dramatic but i really have loved it so much and while i’m glad we’ve finally gotten to the happy ending, i’m so sad to say goodbye. i don’t think fish upon the sky will be quite as good or be so impactful, but nevertheless i’m excited to start that next week and i hope it will be a good addition to frigay and give me something new to be excited about each week

so tian killed torfun, but does tian know this yet? bc that would make more sense for why his parents didn’t want him to know about the donor

tian, pls stop comparing yourself to torfun, you don’t like phupha bc of her heart and he doesn’t like you bc of her heart

also, yesterday i listened to the full ost yesterday for the first time with the lyrics and it’s so beautiful and meaningful

tian had better be on his on the get his medication refilled

i love tul’s pretty casual reaction after being able to contact your friend for the first time in two months after they vanished with only a vague note

awww, tian looking up stuff to do with the children

poor yod, just wants to eat

can’t believe phupha is still trying to deny his feelings to his friends

lol p’aof

but what’s he gonna do with the second scent pouch?

dr nam, at it again

tian trying to trash talk phupha but with a smile the whole time

dr nam knows exactly what he’s doing

tian, pls stop lying to the doctor, the one that’s going to have to take care of you if something happens, like i get that you don’t want people to know, but dr nam is literally the person who needs to know

“like those who reforest but decorate their house with ivories” tian throwing shade at his father

prediction: tian’s father will get involved with the situation at some point and will somehow be involved in resolving the situation with the mob boss (bc he’s the minister or former minster of environmental smth)

tian really is a trouble magnet tho

it’s great to see tian interact with an old friend, mix and white really have good chemistry of friends who’ve known each other forever

i can’t stop laughing at the product placement being used as an excuse for tian to be horny

*pictures shirtless buff phupha* “yeah it is good for your health” XD, i cant

tian, i know why you don’t want your mom to know where you are, but pls at least give her a call

tian complaining but seeming super happy about the bad parts of the village is so pure, my boy is so happy

not phupha going through the 5 stages of grief while tian is gone

he’s such a tsundere

I’m all for phupha being one of the main reasons tian stays at the village but at the same time there’s no need for them to downplay the importance of the rest of the characters to tian’s happiness, like the village and the children are allowed to be just as important as romantic attachments

phupha’s like a dog with separation anxiety

i loved tul and tian’s whole conversation about tian being gay, i was so relieved that’s how it went

can’t believe gmmtv actually avoided making an entire plotline out of a character being gay but thank god

also the implication that tian knew he liked guys even before he started liking phupha, pls give us more content like this gmmtv

also i love the editing that switches between tian’s and phupha’s conversations

also i just love nam/yod/rang/phupha friendship

thank you tul for immediately telling tian that torfun’s heart has literally nothing to do with tian’s feelings

“ i never said i had feelings for him” lol, sure tian

phupha lowkey sulking while his friends make fun of him

tian literally can’t trash talk phupha without smiling, huh?

i’m just very glad that there’s not a whole plotline around tian and phupha realizing and admitting their feelings to themselves, like they both have reservations about telling other people, but they both are clearly aware of their own feelings and seem pretty comfortable with them

i can’t wait for tul to meet phupha and spill all the of tian’s dirt

tian seeing that phupha is sulking and immediately assuming it’s bc he didn’t tell phupha his plans (and he’s right lol)

phupha trying really hard to follow dr nam’s advice is so cute

tian brings up phupha’s relationship status for someone who “doesn’t have feelings”

god, phupha smiling a the secret picture he took of tian is just so pure

the phutian content throughout the whole episode is honestly god tier

you know it’s a good scene when you sit there mentally shouting at the characters to just kiss already

(and you know they want to kiss each other so bad)

i really appreciate them giving phupha valid reasons for being insecure like he’s much older and he’s tied to the village, starting a relationship with him would mean staying in the village rather than going back to the city, and him thinking that tian (a young 20 year old rich boy who’s still in the middle of a college degree to be an engineer) wouldn’t want that isn’t unrealistic, like i just appreciate that his reasons for hesitating aren’t stupid

shit, there’s so much fondness~~~~

how many sexual innuendos did phupha make this ep lol

i love how natural their relationship feels too, like it’s just genuinely two people falling in love with each other

everytime phupha fondly watches tian interacting with the children, i gain a year of life

okay but i love all the forest rangers encouraging phupha to ask tian to stay longer

they’re literally so in love it hurts

tian using phupha’s full title when he’s embarrassed

they’re so happy flying the kites together

the very last scene is heartbreaking but also very satisfying to watch

the fear in phupha’s eyes

also i imagine it must be pretty terrifying bc tian’s not just passed out, it’s not like he just fainted, he’s still conscious but can’t move or speak and seems to be in a lot of pain and to have to watch that and not knowing what’s happening to him or what to do

but that’s literally why you need to tell people, tian, so they can help you in emergencies like this

dr nam, hate to break it to you but phupha definitely knows how to flirt

“im also strong” i cant with this man

yes, dr nam, tell my son to quit being such a dumbass and take care of himself

tian and phupha better kiss next week, they deserve it

shit, this was such a good episode, all the quality phutian moments, finally the heart transplant will be revealed, the tul and tian content was great and I hope we see tul again

I have been thinking about who i’d seen wearing the boy toy shirt before and then i finally remembered that it was techno (tharntype) lol

I hope tian and tul eventually do get to go on that road trip together, just picturing the two of them seeing a bunch of cool sights and having some freedom but also the potential comedy of two rich boys deciding to drive around in a shitty van for “authenticity” and staying in motels and not coping with this very well but at the end they come out as better rounded people

damn, tian’s parents are shitty rich people and like, eat the rich and all that, but they do at least genuinely love their son which i can appreciate that

lol Joma read him like a book

tian is so cute interacting with all the children throughout the episode

god phupha’s so in love already

after seeing tian and dr nam’s interaction i would like to renew my hope that the doctor will find out about tian’s condition (maybe he sees his pills or has to help in a medical emergency or smth) and they become friends and nam tries to help protect tian with his condition (although originally when i said this last week it was under the assumption that phupha wouldn’t see his scars until much later so i guess now phupha would also be in on the secret maybe?)

i absolutely love this montage of tian bonding with the villagers, him learning how to sew from the grandma is so pure

i know he’ll get more used to rural living, but it should be a requirement that tian has a least one ‘city boy’ incident every episode where he doesn’t know how to do something (like holding the chicken)

poor tian just wants to do good for the villagers, but my son, there are safer ways to do this, pls think about your heart (and my heart)

one of the things i really like about phutian’s dynamic is that tian is kinda a bitch, and i mean that affectionately, but when phupha criticizes or teases him he bites back and his motivation for proving himself is quite often “fuck you, watch me” and i like that (so does phupha), there’s not enough bitchy bl characters out there

they have so many tender moments in this episode

tian’s not quite in love with phupha yet but he’s getting there, especially since phupha was much nicer and more tender in this ep

“i just want to talk to you” i think is my favorite line of the episode, it just has so much impact, and then tian asks what he had for dinner back at him which is effectively saying ‘i also want to talk to you’

the finger touch(TM)

i don’t know what he’s eating but the way he eats it makes it look so appetizing

lol i thought phupha was gonna ask tian to hand feed him when he bent down

i will never get over phupha’s shit eating grin whenever he flirts with teases tian

phupha also strikes me as someone who can flirt easily but becomes extremely flustered when people flirt back so i hope later on we get to see tian flirt back explicitly and phupha blushes too hard to respond

okay but the way phupha was actually trying to help at first then decided to make him fall, these two are such children

the parallel between the expensive sweatshirt and the traditional shirt, showing that tian is choosing life in the village

Rang has such chaotic energy and i love him

how long has tian been in the village?

i’m so happy for tian, he’s finally been accepted and found the happiness he’s been looking for

dr nam calling phupha a kid, he knows what’s up

did phupha just confirm that he didn’t like torfun romantically? pls let it be true

how old is phupha?

also it almost sounds like phupha is proposing “take this place as your home and stay here together for a long time”

yeeeees, khaotung!! finally, he’s so cute, and tian needs a friend that’s not a forest ranger

i’m not a doctor, but if he’s not even allowed to eat spicy food he probably shouldn’t be getting that drunk right? pls be careful baby

also i love everyone out the table knowing phupha likes tian and teasing him about it

so i love this whole scene where phupha’s trying to put drunk tian to bed, but for what reason did he have to have vomit on his face the whole time, why couldn’t they have wiped it at the start of the scene

but drunk tian smushing phupha’s face and forcing him to smile

okay so i didn’t think the scar reveal would happen so soon and i was kinda looking forward to tian trying to avoid taking his shirt off in front of other people and then the dramatic reveal in front of phupha but i’m intrigued to see where this goes

where’s the fan art of big black dog phupha and pomeranian tian

we love an almost kiss and intimate moment that abruptly ends when one of the characters throws up

“last night when i took you home i saw...” who wants to bet he chickens out and doesn’t actually ask about the scars

anyways, very good ep, phutian have great chemistry and it’s only going to get better, i love this show so much and can’t for next week!
