BOXING AU PLS PLS PLS
and now we move to boxing au! this one, to be fair, is very much in the primordial ooze currently 🫡
Anger is not a passive landscape– it's a haunted forest with twisting vines waiting to snag Steve Harrington by the ankles without notice. He's familiar with its pervasive pull, usually commanded by the sound of his father's voice: bad chin, journeyman, stepping stone.  He didn't even want to box, he didn't give a shit about the prize money, and he definitely didn’t give a shit about carrying on the family legacy.  Family legacy, he scoffs, landing a mean right hook to the bag hanging from metal chains in the corner of the gym. What a fucking joke.
ask me about my 5 wips!

i did not mean to do it, but i was passing time in the library, just waiting for my sign language lesson (theyre going great btw, im really enjoying it) not planning to borrow anything, ive got plenty of unread books at home, but as i was leaving i passed the just returned section and there, i noticed it, a huge orange book (would be hard to miss honestly) and before i knew it i was checking out with it
im going on a school trip to england tomorrow (by bus so, a few days on the ride, well be stopping in amsterdam for a day so id love any tips btw, i plan to check your old trip asks) and i figured im gonna need something to read anyway and its so long ill definitely only only need this one book with me and it was even the english version which is the one i wanted to read so it was perfect
and thats how i ended up with a bag much heavier and the priority of the orange tree on my shelf rn
all i saw so far were maps (YES! PLURAL! THATS SO FUCKING COOL) and some glossaries or something and im really excited to get into it
oh I'm so glad you're enjoying your sign language classes!! it's such a fun language to learn right??
oh my god a school trip to england and you're stopping in amsterdam on the way?? god that sounds so fun. and you have priory now aaaa that's gonna be such a good book to read while you travel (although it's so heavy it's incredibly inconvenient to travel with)
ok ok amsterdam tips hm. well first off watch out for bikes. I don't know how common bike riding is in your country so maybe you already know this, but in america you never really have to worry about looking out for bicyclists when you're crossing the street you just focus on cars. in amsterdam you WILL get hit by a bicyclist if you're not careful so make sure to watch out. this was a lesson I had to learn quickly as an american.
I definitely recommend finding a cute cafe or something in amsterdam. not a coffee shop since that term means something very different in amsterdam (although if you want to go to a coffee shop live your best life) but theres some very good actual coffee and snacks you can find in cafes. I still daydream about this cheese and tomato croissant sandwich I had in an amsterdam cafe it was so good
anyway I hope you enjoy priory!! honestly I'm kind of laughing at how many of you I've convinced to read it. I'm reading the prequel right now and literally losing my mind at how good it is. the worldbuilding for this series is just so immersive and vibrant and I really hope you fall in love with it like I did. and yes the maps are SO fucking cool. one of my favorite details is how you have maps at both the beginning of priory and the beginning of a day of fallen night (the prequel) but since adofn takes place several hundred years before priory the maps look similar but different and you find out what changed the maps over the course of the story and it's just so interesting
let me know what you think!! and I hope you have an amazing trip <33

Hello! I’m so sorry if this is a weird question, and no pressure to answer if you don’t want! But I was wondering if you had any advice on reading The Silmarillion?
I’ve tried reading it once before, years ago, and I ended up dnfing it about halfway through. I’m one of those people who found it really hard to get through, and also really hard to keep track of who’s who and everyone’s history. Despite getting halfway in before I stopped I couldn’t tell you anything about what happened past the first chapter or so, a lot of information seemed to go in one ear and out the other, so to speak.
But I’d really like to try reading it again! Silm fandom seems really fun, and I want to know who all your tragic murder elves are!! And I do generally really like canons with big complicated lore and history and endless background characters to blorbofy, once I wrap my head around the lore. But the Silm is like… on another level past what I’m used to. So I’m not sure if or how I should be approaching it differently to get more out of it and successfully get through the readthrough. Should I be like… taking notes?? Are there any good resources or guides you know of that I should be keeping out as I read to reference things? Am I overcomplicating things?? Or is there another book in the legendarium that you would recommend reading first as a sort of warm up to ease myself into it? (For reference I’ve only read The Hobbit and LotR at this point).
Hi, not to worry! I'm glad you want to give it another shot! I'm having a bit of a soup-brain day so I'm just gonna put some thoughts in bullet points
there's plenty of guides! I know tea with tolkien did one, and I'm sure if you google it you'll find more. likewise, I'm sure there's silmarillion summary videos on youtube if that's your kind of thing (I personally hate videos lmao but they could help visualise?)
i wouldnt approach it like a novel. yeah, it's vaguely in chronological order, but there's a lot of jumping between settings, zooming in on specific events while glossing over others, and not much time to breathe. so I'd read it slowly, bit by bit. read one chapter and then put the book down for the rest of the week so you can mull it over in your mind. enjoy it!
if you want, skip the ainulindale and valaquenta for now. I understand why the book starts with those, as that all comes first within the story, but I think skipping to the elves can help in terms of having characters whose stories you can follow! you can always go back and read that part later
maybe familiarise yourself with the finwean family tree? there's one at the end of the book, as well as a few others.
there's also a graph of the sundering of the elves there too. I know that was something I struggled with - all the different names for the groups of elves and who went where during the sundering
personally I don't think you need to take notes! you can if you want, or you can underline/highlight important parts? up to you. i don't think it's necessary, though
it's ok to read it and miss important parts. that's what makes re-reading fun >:)
try not to make it seem really big and difficult in your head! people always joke about it being impossible to read or archaic or whatever, but I don't think that's entirely true. I mean yeah it's not a beach read - you do have to read slowly and focus and think - but if you were ok with reading lord of the rings, I don't think there's much of a jump between that and the silm. the writing is in recognisable english (it's not like reading shakespeare and needing a mini glossary on every page). I think it's more the style that throws people off? and that's something you try to get used to as you read through (and personally I really enjoyed it once I got used to it! it makes some scenes feel so !!!!!!!)
nope, you're on the right track in terms of reading order!
happy reading!

fic's a comin'!
I am maybe a quarter of the way through this chapter. I should advise people that the first chapter is really going to be a lot of exposition and world building and really just setting up most of the dominoes for this story.
Some things:
For the purpose of this story I will be making up a city and cartel because it just gives me more to work with without having to worry about canon shit.
With this story imma let you step into the shoes of a petite (yesss size difference WORK FOR ME) Mexican bottle girl. You may not be Mexican outside of reading this story, but you will be when you do. I considered making things vague, but the more I thought about where I wanted the story to go the more I felt like I wanted the realism of the Mexican aspect of it. And really, I write what I know. I am writing from the place of my identity and I feel that it would be a unique perspective that I haven't seen yet in fics. I'm not a petite bottle girl though, just mexican and an average height mug woman.
We're playing pretend here and you're gonna have fun! Well at first. Then not, and then REALLY not, and then right back on the upswing with some sloppy smut.
Also, I've decided to put a small glossary of terms in the beginning for any Spanish I use, but it will mostly be reserved for proper nouns and common phrases.
Also also, I decided to go ahead and add one song at the end of every chapter, kinda like closing credits.
Also, I really don't know that I need to even say all of this, but I figured why the fuck not. I just haven't written in a very long time.
Ok, I'll go back and finish.

aespa’s “savage” album thoughts! 🐍😈
from debuting in controversy to rivaling established groups in the span of a year, the meteoric rise of this group has been veeeeeery interesting to witness. though I was initially one of those people with serious doubts about their concept, there’s no denying the powerhouse talent and energy these ladies are bringing to the scene - and the gobs of $$$ SM is throwing at this social experiment. they've definitely got some of the best visual designers working on this and it shows! going into this mini. I'm not quite sure what to expect - everything they've put out has looked GORGEOUS but do they deliver on the music? let's find out...
aenergy - can't quite understand what they're saying (edit: looking at the lyrics...I'm think I'm gonna need a glossary lol) but this is a pretty epic intro...in case you had any doubt what this group is about, now you know! I've never been a huge fan of chant-y verses so not quite digging the "everydaaAAAYYY we get better" but that beat HITS. oh gosh what does this rhythm remind me of?? I swear there's another song with this beat but I can't remember...
savage - intro really reminds me of super m's one (monster & infinity), that's a great build-up going into the chorus which then...goes nowhere...ok...I'm a little confused tbh. I wish the chorus was stronger to match the fierce energy from the verses. man these girls are KILLING it though! YAS THIS INSTRUMENTAL BREAK THOUGH!!! oh wait ok was that a key change? hold on whoa ningning is blasting off and then...it ends?
i feel under- and overwhelmed at the same time with this...like there are elements that are really great but that chorus totally kills the vibe, and don't quite understand the decision to add a key change at the end. everything ends up sounding quite disjointed when put together :/ mv looks AMAZING though so this is where dftf budget went lol jk jk corporation is gonna do what corporations do also props to the members for bringing their all, this is def very unconventional and honestly they sell it. we'll see how this does in the long-term...
I'll make you cry - oh fck. hold up. there's something going on here. the skitzy synth with those staccato verses and drum machine...
Tumblr media
ok but that empty beat drop then that EXPLOSION at 1:15!!! THIS HITS!!! YAS I'M JUST!!! love this trap/hip-hop interpretation of a cyberpunk-y video game! I WANNA RACE A CAR TO THIS!!! the girls sound positively dangerous and I can totally imagine them as the protagonists of a futuristic action movie! OH BUT THE BRIDGE!! oh it's so sparkling and WOW they sound so amazing with their lower registers. the mixing actually sounds really incredible in this song, there's a lot going on but it's all balanced really well and all the vocal flourishes and harmonies!! despite the intensity, there's plenty of space for all of the members to shine. OKAY DOKEY I was not expecting that but MAN I was vibing!!
edit: QUEEN KENZIE THANK YOU
yeppi yeppi - the beat is PRESENT. sounds almost like they took a red velvet song and synth-ified it...oh WHOA the section that starts at 1:20 the drum machine!! the beats!! wooooo what a roller coaster ride! actually you know what, this almost seems like something that might've been slated for f(x), this song just gets weirder and weirder the more it goes on...holy SHIZ how much did they cram in here?? I'm just sitting here like 😧 producers really had fun with this one lol. def not for everyone's taste but I think I like it! might have to give this a few more listens...
iconic - ohh all right spy movie-action sequence vibes...heavy rap verses with this one, I'm glad they get to show so many different sides. nice contrast with the pre-chorus there, letting the space expand for a bit before packing the beats right back in. I am half expecting taeyong to drop in for a few lines here lol, sounds very much in nct's alley. lyrically the chorus feels a bit juvenille but I can vibe to it, the chromatic descents add enough movement to keep it going. ahhh the bridge sounds so refreshing! hmm yeah I feel this one!
lucid dreams - just based off the title I'm expecting something a bit more laid-back, and it seems like I'm right! the sustained synths add more mood and atmosphere here...really like the background noise, that's a nice touch! oh it's so nice to hear their voices a little bit more stripped back :) the trap beats are back at it again, except a bit more relaxed here. tempo is still pretty fast though. OOOOHHHH YESSSSS THE CHORUS. YES. sometimes doing less is more, and that's exactly what's working out here. the harmonies really get a chance to shine and they're able to convey so much emotion, paradoxically, by not conveying much at all. nice transition from the layered chorus to the singular vocal line, sonically a very interesting moment. love the shooting star effects and little touches going on in the background! OH THIS BRIDGE! oh wow what a way to close out the album
overall - I AM SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!! wow this really delivered some amazing stuff and I am so happy that a lot of this is in the vein of what I like listening to, like trap, synthwave, and electronica. sm back at it again with the weak title tracks, but I am honestly so glad the ladies got some b-sides to show what they're really about. clearly they're got the vocals and the musicality to tackle whatever is thrown at them, and I've really been impressed by them so far. even in the saturated landscape of kpop, this sounds fresh and interesting and PROPS to the producing team!! they brought it!! my playlists grew a bit today, yayyyy :)

Hi!! I hope it's okay to ask you questions! You sent me an ask on my main Tumblr, @sweetmuslimbabyboy about me being a system, and I wanted to reach out. I was wondering if you could explain what all of the terms mean? Like, what a protector in a system is, and stuff like that! I'm very new and am feeling a little lost😢 -sweetmuslimbabyboy
oh you can definitely ask questions :)!!! if you want we can totally dm more about this but i’ll go through a basic system glossary here in case others are wondering too!
System: the collection of alters sharing one body
Headspace/inner world: the “world” in which the alters live inside the head. Technically, it is made up by the mind (but I mean, what isn’t?). It can take different forms and is personal to your system and its needs. I’ve known systems with villages, entire societies, mansions, a vaguely defined property. Ours, personally, looks like a lot our highschool. Don’t know why.
Host: the alter(s) who front(s) the most. There can be more than one, called cohosts. The main host usually doesn’t have trauma but your system is absolutely valid if they do!
Protector: an alter whose purpose is to protect the system. Oftentimes there are Primary Protectors, which is kind of the head honcho if protecting the system (and they typical have the best or very good communication with the host, but this is different for every system!)
Persecutor: an alter who hurts the system. Often they are “misguided protectors”, who are trying to do harmful activities to protect the system and they usually don’t care what others think about it. For example, they can be very mean to headmates (other alters) or harm the body, and sometimes their motivation is they think they are protecting the system from more abuse. They more often than not hold trauma.
Little: a child alter. Can be a trauma holder or not, just like any other alter. Treat them like a child! They’re young and need help just like any singlet (non-system) kid would.
Trauma holder: an alter who holds trauma for the system. Pretty straightforward. They can be in different states of mind about it: we have a 39-year-old TH who is catatonic (she holds all the trauma), a TH who is 5 but mature, a TH who is 9 and mature and funny. Our primary protector holds some trauma, and he is a wonderful, functioning protector. Extremely valuable to our system. They are still their own alter, just like the rest of them.
Caretaker: an alter who takes care of other alters, especially littles.
Internal Self-Helper: an alter who resolves conflict and helps other alters inside. This role is not one we’re too familiar with as we only have a couple, you might want to find a better definition sorry lol
Introject: an alter whose personality & appearance are taken from an outside source. There are exceptions to both of those, of course, but this is a general description.
Fictive: an introject from a fictional source (TV, movie, video game, book, musical, etc.)
Factive: an introject who exists or existed as a real person (can take the form of someone the host or system personally knows, or a famous person, or an abuser, or literally any other real person who ever existed)
ANP: a trauma-free part
EP: a part that holds trauma
There can also be alters who take the form of a nonhuman entity, such as an animal or supernatural/religious being. (Not a comprehensive list, of course.)
This isn’t a complete and exhaustive list of the terms you’ll encounter on your DID journey (and believe us, it’s a journey, lol) but we hope this helps. And your system is valid! Much love to Camren and his alters!
Some reminders:
Take it slow. Breathe. You’re okay.
Communication with alters, especially in the beginning, is hard. Knowing you have a system is the first step. Try to make contact. Leave notes in the outside world if it is safe for you to do so. Maybe keep a system journal? Inner contact is important, though, too. Try to communicate with them. If you want, you can just generally say something in the headspace.
Don’t be too discouraged if you have a hard time contacting your alters. I know you discovered Kai recently and that’s really great!! If they can contact other alters, you can try that. Communication between certain alters isn’t always great. (For example, Marion, our host, and Jake have some communication difficulties, but Jake and Andrew can communicate just fine.)
Ask your alters’ names once you meet them! Ask if they’re comfortable sharing their name, pronouns, age, gender, etc.
Don’t be afraid to talk out loud, if it’s safe. We mouth or whisper words sometimes to communicate. It can help. See what communication methods work for your system. You can make a system Discord just for you guys!
We really hope this helped a bit. Sorry if it was too detailed. If you have any questions, you can reply or DM us! We’ll be happy to talk. Don’t be a stranger :) And I’m gonna tag you to make sure you see this lol @sweetmuslimbabyboy
