Hello! What do you think of alicent being physically harsh with ty tennant's aegon? She abuses him (it felt like that to me) and then tells aegon that his sister is a dangerous person (which she is), but at that point rhaenyra hasn't done anything, and otto is not there to advise her also but she sees rhaenyra rightly as a legitimate threat. Then when we come to tgc aegon it's like she forgot that her children's lives are in danger and fights more for rhaenyra than her own children. By then she has seen first hand how dangerous rhaenyra is with aemond, vaemond, laenor etc.

Also olivia had told somewhere that alicent is thinking in eggs coronation how rhaenyra will not reconcile with her anymore. I mean why would you care about rhaenyra then. I dont mind people having affection for childhood friends but when said friend doesn't give a shit about your kids or your own mental and physical well-being then it becomes really pathetic and an unhealthy obsesion.

Im saying I'm so confused why she keeps flip-flopping. Why the heck is she on rhaenyra's side when her kids are more into protecting her than rhaenyra. She even forced aegon to accept his crown when he said no. (If they make her poison him for rhaenyra, she will be just so terrible)

The writing is making me insane. I want to get some clarity and i thought to ask you since you have such well thought out responses. Sorry for such a long question.

hey there. thank you for having faith in my abilities to make sense of this mess. i do take it as a compliment that you guys think to come to me for help whenever you're confused by smth or pondering an issue. 💌

so, i hope you won't feel too upset, but i'm going to redirect you to the relevant tags as i've been ranting about this quite a lot already and would just end up repeating myself.

long story short: it's inconsistent writing. each episode usually had a different writer & director, each with their different take on the characters. that's fine and all, but something happened there bc the people in charge (miguel??) didn't do a good enough job to smooth things over chronologically and make sure everyone is on the same page and that the character developments are linear.

that's why alicent is antagonistic and out to get rhaenyra one episode, then the next episode she wants to be bffs. that's why the showrunners say one thing to the media, but the actors say another. look at this through the perspective that they're not going to come out having a go at each other in the press because that would be unprofessional. so we're never gonna find out what miguel actually did for sure and who's responsible for all this mixed messaging.

as for alicent being physically harsh with ty's aegon. she is, as you said, alone at court, experiencing first hand viserys' indulgence & favouritism towards rhaenyra + his unwillingness to sanction her even for grave illegalities*, so that only increases her paranoia that her children are going to suffer the consequences of this. on top of /that/, aegon himself doesn't take this seriously and she has just found out he also colludes with rhaenyra's children (the people who will order his execution in the future, but he's too blind to see it now) and bullies his own brother (aka the one he could actually trust and support, but instead alienates). she goes to viserys first but he ignores her concerns again.

so i think she just snaps in that moment and loses patience with aegon. him wanking in the middle of the day in the tommen window doesn't help his case. now, alicent is not a modern mother living in the 21st century, with a whole literature of child development & psychology at her disposal, therapists and specialists to guide her. she also has her own trauma to deal with, no help on that front either. she can't "educate" herself. she is not going to be gentle parenting aegon lol. she uses what tools she has at her disposal: first talking nicely, that doesn't work, then she starts yelling and grabs his face so that he'll listen, bc what else is she supposed to do? she literally isn't conceptually aware of any other way to get her message across

*again, that's placing your bastards in the line of succession against their trueborn relatives, not having bastards in the first place

Shinso is overrated and when you compare him to other characters not every that unique. I am not here to tell people taht they can't like him , there is alot to like and I myself can't say that I hate him, it's just just that this fandom very often twist the story as if Shinso didn't get to be in hero class because descrumination and no other reason, despite the fact that the series itself contradicts it. And the fact that people want Mineta out of class 1-A to make room for their husbando is just plain bizare when they aren't as diferent as this fandom tries to make it seem. At first I tought it was just a joke or that these people were at very least aware that they only wanted this because they limes Shinso more. But alas, they're 100% serious about it and think of it as a genuine way it woukd improve the story... and I am about to tell you why that's total bullshit (please keep in mind that I'm an anime only watcher and if manga material can efortlessly debunk me that's why).

1)Shinso isn't as powerfull as his simps like to think he is. Litteraly all you'd have to do to avoid him beating your ass is to keep your mouth shut. Deku defeated him efortlessly not just because one for all, but also because Shinso is a one trick pony. To give Shinso the spot in the hero course would be to ignore all the growth he had to go throw. Mineta, while being a cocky little shit can still see that he actualy has room for improvement. Shinso just exspects everything to be handed to him because he has a cool quirk and a sad childhood.

2) Call me a nutcase, but as a female myself I'd ve far more ofended if someone brainwashed me to do things I don't want to do than if someone made a perverted coment about my boobs. Noone canonicaly irationaly hates Mineta to the point where they want to beat him up whenever they see him. At beast people find him silly and don't take him seriously. Being hormonal mess is only a part of his character, a major part but not the entirety. Mineta can easily cooperate with people and contribute to his team succesding. Shinso on the other hand is a manipulative bitch. He can not just talk to people normaly and cooperate, especialy with those who have a very hero fitted quirks because he has just the biggest hate-boner for them. Everytime someone says Shiso should replace my grape boy I just remember how 1-A girls can tolarete Mineta despite him being a perv and Ojiro missed a chance to prove himself to pros because of how much he didn't want to be near Shinso at that moment.

3) If your argument is that Shinso has better motives to be a hero... tought tiddies motives don't matter at the end of the day. Storywise, they do. But when it comes to saving peoples lives they aren't going to care if you are doing this for fame and money or because your patents have died long ago and now you don't want that to heapend to anyone else. Also his motives aren't that interesting. Yaoyorozu, Todoroki and arguably Mineta (I'll get to that one later) have very similar motives to him. Sure it's diferent from theirs, but it isn't that new to the point that it deserves constant praise and atention. Also if we are talking selfish motives why isn't Bakugo a part of this conversation.

4) Mineta's reasons for becoming a hero aren't as shallow as people think. I would not say that he wants do be a hero just to get free pussy, while girls certanly play a part. Oh, and this isn't just a headcanon, I can factualy prove this within canon material. First of all Mineta becoming a hero just because he wants to impress women never sat well with me for one reason- why would he put his life in danger when there are easier ways to do that. It has been implied that he is realy smart, so why not chose a safer carier that would make him alot of money so girls can chase him. It is so strange to see someone so cowardly conciously put himself in position where he could die in worst case scenario when he could be taking shortcuts to his goal. So I tought about it for a while and came to the conclusion- like Shinso, Mineta also wants to prove himself to others. The duference is that instead od trying to prove to others taht he isn't evil, he is trying to prove that he came be usefull. Minoru is someone our society would certanly look down upon, especialy girls. He's midget, has an overbite, has balls growing from his head (and not gonna lie that's a very big head) and his very dorky personality does not make it better. You can not tell me that he's someone who society doesn't look down upon. Sure he could chose a stable and safe career to prove his not useless, but becoming a hero just speaks louder in that demand. Maybie that's why he is so obsesed with getting a girlfriend. Like it or not being in a relationship does make you better in the publici eye. I honestly think that he would feel better about himself if he had a gf because he'd feel like he achived something special. I also think this because of that scene where Todoroki failed his liscence exam and Mineta just snuck up behind him to say "The hierchy is colapsing" . This might not seem big, but at least in my eyes he was acting like Shoto personaly wronged him, the exsact same way Shinso acts towards students with quirks fitted for hero work. While I can't for sure say that he was bullied at one point od his life, I am pretty sure he at least compared himself to others witch in itself would hurt. Shoto is the pretty boy of the class who people admire and Mineta being the insecure little shit that he is will take pleasure in feeling superior to him. Also just like Shinso he percieves "the other side" as very shalow ( Shinso sees all kids with txpicaly hero fitted quirks as brats who had everything handed to them, and Mineta always acts surprised when Todoroki breaks the pretty boy image). The only duference between Mineta and Shinso's motives is that one is litteraly spelled out for you, while the other is alot more subtle.

Overall, Shinso's fine but waaaaaay overhyped especialy in comparason to Mineta. These two are painfuly similar while BnHA fans act like they are night and day. The worst thing you can do to Hotoshi as a character is blindky worship him. It's just blaintantly denying his full potential while underning other characters. You can prefer one of these characters over the other, but if you think that Shinso deserves a place on 1-A over Mineta you've been blowing hot air out of your ass for way too long.
