The 6-step in-flight beauty routine that’ll keep you looking fabulous
Flying can be incredibly stressful — not only are you cooped up in a cramped space for hours, the stale, dehydrated air and airplane food can wreak havoc on your skin.
In a bid to look slightly human after a flight, I have narrowed down the ideal airplane beauty essentials for travel. This tried and tested routine will leave your skin hydrated, healthy and glowing as you whizz off to your vacation.

Long haul flights often leave skin oily and prone to breakouts, or dry and flaky. Here are five steps to ensure you keep your skin in tip top shape and step off that flight looking great.
Step 1: Clean your hands
My in-flight beauty routine starts as soon as the seatbelt signs are off and I can open my tray table. None of the skincare items actually go on the tray table – only the pouch it is in – because who knows when that table was last cleaned.
Wipe your hands thoroughly with an anti-bacterial wipe or hand sanitizer like the Bath & Body Works #Flawless Girl Power Punch. Its hydrating formula will leave hands soft, clean and smelling sweet.

Step 2: Cleanse your face
With your hands free of germs use a makeup remover wipe to cleanse your face. The Nivea 3-in-1 Gentle Cleansing wipes are convenient to carry around, and they’re super effective for cleansing everything from full coverage foundation to stubborn mascara.

Step 3: Moisturize your face
Next slap on a sheet mask. The SK-II Facial Treatment Mask is the bomb! Because the airplane air is so dry (it has less humidity than the Sahara desert!) the mask dries up pretty quickly, but not before nourishing skin with Pitera — the brand’s signature ingredient that moisturizes and brightens your skin. It may be pricey, but it’s totally worth it. Your skin will feel soft and dewy after.

Step 3: Moisturize your face [continued]
If you’re not inclined to using a sheet mask, or you don’t have extremely dry skin, you can use a clear hydrating leave on mask like the Skin Inc. Deepsea Hydrating Mask that will also keep your skin moist and plump.

Step 4: Show your eyes a little TLC
It’s also important to pay attention to your eyes and lips. The skin on both these areas is extremely thin and delicate and without any lubrication of its own, so you have to give it a whole lot of TLC.
Choose a rich eye cream – leave your retinol/anti-ageing ones in your checked in luggage – you need something heavier while on flight. Try the Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream. With aloe vera, witch hazel and avocado oils, it’ll soothe your tired eyes and keep the surrounding sensitive skin hydrated.

Step 5: Keep your lips hydrated
Similarly use a rich lip balm like the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Nourishing Lip Balm FPS 20 to prevent cracked, chapped lips and to keep your pout soft and kissable. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Intensive Lip Balm and Lucas Paw Paw work just as well.

Note: If you are flying during the day, it’s essential to use a sunscreen. You’re more prone to sun damage at higher altitudes. Apply your sunscreen after this step before moving to the next.
Step 6: Facial oil
All skin types, even those with oily skin, will benefit from the this step.
A moisturizer or a mask may not be enough to combat the dry air. What you need is an oil that’ll hydrate and seal in moisture.
I like the Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil — a mix of nourishing pure oils like seaberry, cranberry seed, camellia seed, grapeseed, and sweet almond, as well as antioxidant rich omegas — it provides instant hydration. The key is to apply it after your skincare. A few drops, every hour, work like magic. If you’re flying during the day, use it over your sunscreen.

Bonus tips:
You may have noticed that there is no mention of mists anywhere in this routine. This is because the air is so dry it sucks the moisture out of everything (remember the face mask?) including your skin. When you mist your face, the air absorbs the moisture as well as pulls moisture from within your skin.
Avoid undoing all your efforts to keep your skin hydrated by drinking any wine, beer or alcohol. Tank up instead on water or green tea.
As you near your destination, all you have to do is tissue off any excess product, dab on some concealer where you need it most, swipe on some mascara and a bright lipstick that can also double up as a cheek stain and you’re ready to step off the flight.

Travel Must Haves. I have A LOT of samples so I keep my travel toiletries bag packed all the time with essentials: face/body wash, shampoo/conditioner, body butter, headband, face moisturizer, a serum of some sort, a compact mirror, a pore strip, & a charcoal infused washcloth. As far as makeup goes, it depends on what my travel plans are. If it's a couple's getaway, I'm taking a full face of makeup with options but if we are camping or headed to the lake, I just take a BB Cream, mascara, and lip balm. #makeup #beauty #travelmakeup #igbeauty #discoverunder1k #beautyful #skincare #bblogger #beautyblog #makeupaccount #bloglife #travelskincare #deluxesample #makeupmafia #pacifica #biore #blissskincare #harrypotter #inflightwellness #inflightbeauty #itravelwell #ontheflybox Repost @lemonbeauty77
