New iOS 17.4 Features Will Change Your iPhone Experience
Tumblr media
Apple released iOS 17.4 beta. For iOS developers and public beta testers, download MacOS 14.4 beta 2, watchOS 10.4 beta 2, and tvOS 17.4 beta 2. Apple updated iOS 17.4 for the iPhone and App Store to comply with 27 EU countries’ Digital Markets Act.
When will iOS 17.4 be available?
Apple is expected to release iOS 17.4’s final version in the first week of March 2024. The final reveal window was scheduled to comply with Apple’s EU legal obligations.
The Digital Markets Act requires Apple to update the iPhone and App Store by March 6. Based on that, Apple may release iOS 17.4 before March 6.
iOS 17.4 Update
Transcripts of Apple Podcasts
Podcast transcripts were added to Apple Podcasts in iOS 17.4. This feature lets users read the entire episode transcript, search for a word or phrase, and tap on text to jump to a section. As an episode plays, every word is highlighted like Apple Music lyrics.
Apple automatically generates transcripts for new episodes. For archived episodes, podcast transcripts will be added in English, French, German, and Spanish.
For HomePod, SharePlay
With iOS 17.4, Apple has added HomePod speakers to the SharePlay music control list.
If you grant permission, family members and friends can use this feature to choose what music plays on your HomePod. It’s only available on the Music app for the time being, and anyone else can participate without having to have an Apple Music subscription.
You can request access to music playback controls by having someone else scan a QR code with their iPhone or Android smartphone while you’re enjoying a song on your iPhone by tapping the SharePlay icon at the bottom of the screen. All it takes to give access to anyone in the world remotely is a screenshot of the QR code.
Last year, Apple introduced a feature similar to this for CarPlay, enabling anyone within the vehicle to manage music playback through SharePlay with authorization.

Capability of sideloading games and apps
Although iOS 17.4 is finally opening the door for third parties to have their own iPhone app store, users will still not be able to download any app from the internet and install it on their devices. This will enable users in the European Union to install apps from sources other than the official App Store. Since the iPhone’s launch, Apple has prohibited users from sideloading or installing non-App Store apps without jailbreaking their device. The iOS 17.4 update has changed this.
Payment gateways operated by third parties
App developers can now include their own payment gateways with this feature, which is again exclusive to Europe. As a result, subscription apps like Spotify may become much more affordable. Additionally, it may make it possible for platforms like Netflix to finally allow users to sign up for their services directly from the app. As a result of this development, some apps and games may now be more affordable because developers are no longer required to pay up to 30%. Furthermore, users in Europe should be able to make contactless payments using other wireless payment services that resemble Apple Pay thanks to this modification.
Third-party engine-equipped browsers
With iOS 17.4, developers will be able to create web browsers free from the constraints imposed by web kit. This particular policy modification will support the creation of completely unique web browsers by brands for iPhones. Opera has already declared that it is developing a web browser with AI capabilities that will be accessible for iPhones soon.
Protection against stolen devices
Along with adding new “stolen device protection” guidelines with iOS 17.4, Apple is also making your iPhone much more secure. According to these guidelines, in order to remove an Apple ID from an iPhone or perform a factory reset, you may need to provide both a pincode and a Face ID/Touch ID biometric authentication.
ID for the region
The new regional identifier in iOS 17.4, which allows Apple to automatically determine a user’s specific region and likely help the company limit several previously mentioned features to the Europian region, may make it slightly more difficult to change the country or region on an iPhone, even though it was previously fairly simple to do so.
Stopwatch for real-time events
The stopwatch can now be accessed through the live activity feature of an iPhone running Dynamic Island. Just launch the app for the clock. When you return to the home screen after starting the stopwatch, Dynamic Island’s timer will be visible. You must either own an iPhone 14 Pro or an iPhone 15 series device in order to use this feature.
Siri gets more powerful
Siri is also becoming much smarter with iOS 17.4, as the personal assistant can now use the Message with Siri service to send messages in multiple languages. This lets users send messages through iMessage while simultaneously receiving straightforward audio prompts in multiple languages.
A revamp for the music app
With iOS 17.4, Apple is also making changes to the user interface of the music app. The listen now button has been replaced with the home button, which will direct you to a new menu that includes recently played music and recommendations, especially if you are a subscriber.

Apple is set to revolutionize the way iPhone users interact with their devices' battery information with the upcoming iOS 17.4 update, particularly for the iPhone 15 series. This update, heralded as a significant step forward, introduces a revamped Battery Health menu, replacing the previous Battery Health & Charging menu, and enriches it with a more detailed sub-menu aimed at providing users with comprehensive insights into their battery's performance. "The way we understand our device's battery health is evolving," explains an Apple spokesperson. "With iOS 17.4, we're offering iPhone users a deeper dive into their battery's functionality, moving beyond mere percentages to a more nuanced status report." This nuanced approach includes a shift from displaying the battery's maximum capacity percentage to a status report where the battery's condition is labeled as 'normal' if it operates within expected parameters. "This isn't just a cosmetic change. It's about providing actionable, understandable information about your iPhone's battery," the spokesperson adds, emphasizing the practical benefits of the update. Moreover, the update allows users to access a detailed account of the number of charging cycles their battery has completed—a figure that has notably doubled for the iPhone 15 series since its launch. Additional information, such as the battery's manufacture date and the date of its first use, previously hidden in the depths of the Settings app, will now be readily accessible. In a testament to the iPhone 15 series' enhanced battery longevity, Apple has revised its battery lifespan expectations. "We've conducted further testing and can confidently say that the iPhone 15 series batteries are designed to retain up to 80% of their original capacity after 1,000 charge cycles," the spokesperson reveals, doubling the lifespan quoted at the device's launch. https://twitter.com/9techeleven/status/1760019714904830114 This update, however, is not just about the numbers. It reflects Apple's ongoing commitment to sustainability and user empowerment, allowing individuals to make informed decisions about their device usage and maintenance. "Understanding the battery's lifecycle helps users optimize their charging habits, contributing to both the device's longevity and environmental sustainability," the spokesperson notes. While the iOS 17.4 update, currently in beta, is initially rolling out to the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple is exploring the possibility of extending these battery health reporting improvements to older models. This initiative aligns with the broader changes required by new European Union regulations under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), demonstrating Apple's adaptability to regulatory environments and its commitment to user-centric innovation. The full release of iOS 17.4 is eagerly anticipated in March, promising not only enhanced battery health features but also improvements to Stolen Device Protection, the introduction of new emojis, and more. As Apple continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with smartphone technology, the upcoming update is a clear indicator of the company's dedication to enhancing user experience through thoughtful, practical innovations.

Fresh off the Shelf: iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
For those seeking the ultimate iPhone experience, the recently launched iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are the talk of the town. These powerhouses boast a sleek titanium build, a mysterious new "Action Button," and the lightning-fast A17 Pro chip. A Glimpse into the Future: iPhone 16 Series Whispers
Fall 2024 is rumored to bring the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series. While details remain under wraps, whispers suggest a significant performance boost with a faster processor. Pro models might see an increase in screen size, and Apple's continued focus on AI integration could bring exciting new features. However, prepare for potentially higher prices, particularly in regions like India.
Software Updates: Keeping Your iPhone Fresh
Apple recently rolled out iOS 17.4, bringing a wave of new emojis and the ability to customize how certain emojis face. Additionally, bug fixes ensure your iPhone runs smoothly. Looking ahead, rumors swirl about iOS 18, hinting at the integration of powerful generative AI features and potentially improved 5G capabilities. While official details are scarce, stay tuned for further announcements from Apple.
Beyond the Headlines: A Lawsuit and a Laundry Hack?
Apple finds itself in a legal battle with Elon Musk regarding OpenAI, a company in which they have invested. The specifics remain under wraps, but the situation adds another layer to the ever-evolving tech landscape.
In a more lighthearted (and unverified) corner of the internet, a "laundry hack" for iPhones has surfaced, claiming to prevent clothes from shrinking in the washing machine. Why Cydia Plus Special?
Cydia, once the reigning app manager for older iOS versions, held a prominent position in the jailbreaking community. It was the default choice for enthusiasts who sought to customize their devices beyond Apple’s restrictions.
Collaborating seamlessly with popular jailbreak tools like Checkra1n, Unc0ver, Chimera, Electra, Pangu, TaiG, Yalu Jailbreak, Meridian, and Phoenix, Cydia became synonymous with the jailbreaking experience.
However, in 2018, the original Cydia developer, Saurik, ceased updating the platform. The decline in untethered jailbreaking’s popularity contributed to this decision.
Cydia Plus is a modified version developed by the Cydia Plus team. This alternative to Cydia caters specifically to the latest iOS versions. Apple iOS 17.5 Beta 1 EU Digital Markets Act Updates
Tumblr media
ios 17 beta 5
Three weeks have passed since Apple released a beta version of iOS 17.4 with new capabilities to developers. Apple usually releases a beta update a few days after releasing the final version. However, the company seems to be dragging out this improvement. Our knowledge of when Apple will release iOS 17.5 beta 1 to developers has grown. A reliable private source on social media said that Apple would release iOS 17.5 with build number 21F5048f soon.
ios 17 beta 5 features
Apple published iOS 17.4.1, an iPhone update with performance and bug fixes, shortly after iOS 17.4. Despite its presence, the update did not change the user interface or front-facing functionality. 9to5mac stated that a reliable source revealed details regarding the iOS 17.5 beta 1 update, stating that it would be released this week.
The private account indicates that iOS 17.5 beta 1 will be published with a build number of 21F5048f, and the publication asserts that the private account often releases information about the programme “just before” the update is made available for iPhone. In addition to this, 9to5Mac also adds that the data it gathered from Google Analytics shows that there is increasing evidence with iOS 17.5.
This information is often posted by this account just before an update is made available to the public; thus, it is probable that iOS 17.5 beta 1 may be made available at some point during this week.
ios 17 beta 5 release date
There is not yet a complete article accessible regarding iOS 17.5 Beta 1 as of today, April 1, 2; this is the current date. It is anticipated that the release will take place very soon, potentially even this week, however it has not yet taken place. However, according to leaks and rumours, the following is what we might anticipate:
When will iOS 17.5 Beta 1 be published? Some rumours say it will be launched this week or next week, depending on when Apple finishes development. Apple is still working on various developer and App Store improvements to comply with the EU and Digital Markets Act, which might have delayed iOS 17.5. EU users may download and install apps from other sources and install third-party app stores thanks to many updates.
To focus on EU Regulations: Apple’s attempts to comply with the EU Digital Markets Act may be linked to a major iOS 17.5 feature.
ios 17.5 update
Apple must comply with this statute in order to enable consumers to obtain applications from sources other than the App Store. It is anticipated that iOS 17.5 would have capabilities that are associated with this, such as the capability for developers to provide programme downloads straight from their websites.
Similar to previous point releases, iOS 17.5 Beta 1 will fix bugs and improve performance over iOS 17.4. Since this is a beta version, only Apple developer programme members may be allowed to use it.
What exactly is going to be included in iOS 17.5 is unknown at this time. As part of its attempts to comply with the Digital Markets Act, Apple has stated that it is planning the implementation of further adjustments for iPhone customers in the European Union. On the other hand, developers will now be able to make their applications available for download straight from their website. This is the biggest difference.
Apple may be building a way to let developers upload their applications on its website so people may download them to their iPhones. We expect the beta version to be released on Tuesday, April 2, given Apple claimed the functionality will be accessible to the public with iOS 17.5. Mark Gurman claimed the first beta of iOS 17.5 will be published next week, despite its ongoing development. In your opinion, when do you believe Apple will make the first beta available to programmers?
FAQS
When Will Apple Release the iOS 17.5 Beta?
According to rumours and leaks, iOS 17.5 Beta 1 may arrive on April 2, 2024. What we know: Anticipated Date of Release: According to rumours, early April 2024 Rumour source: Social media accounts that have previously posted truthful information about Apple It is essential to bear in mind that these are only conjectures, and Apple may choose to unveil the beta at an alternative occasion. Nevertheless, early April appears likely given Apple’s customary release schedule and the data from these sources.
Which iPads and iPhones will be able to run iOS 17.5 Beta 1?
Not verified by Apple, however it’s likely compatible with iOS 17 devices.
What new features should one expect from iOS 17.5 Beta 1?

The creation of the Apple’s FaceTime video reactions, a feature that has been in iOS 17, and brought a playful twist to video calls with effects like fireworks for two thumbs up is set to undergo a major change. As per MacRumors, the upcoming iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 updates will provide third-party video calling apps with the ability to turn off these features by default, addressing the feedback of users who disliked them for formal conversations. This release reveals a change in Apple’s principle, giving users and developers freedom to influence the appearance of video calling. Apple has provided a choice to erase these reactions and consequently make them less invasive, particularly in formal or professional setups, a spokesperson stated, highlighting the responsive character of the company. The significant move, noticed working in the latest beta versions of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4, utilizes what is called an Application Programming Interface (API) giving applications more independence with regards to the system level impacts. The action follows from information coming from all corners, including some telehealth providers who communicated their fears of failing to keep it under control during critical consultation times. Nonetheless, Apple warns that even though the feature adjustments are present in beta releases, they may not be in the final version of the software. Users are selecting to hold for news of the latest after the drop of these updates which range from game apps streaming among others, games, podcasts, podcast apps and improvements on FaceTime Reactions. The update is also viewed as a tactical maneuver to increase the uptake of iOS 17 which has been slower than its predecessor with users citing bugs and lacking new features. Apple intends to turn this around by taking care of user feedback and resulting in an improved software experience. With the expected announcement of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 by the tech community, the enhancements to FaceTime video reactions confirm Apple's continuous focus on perfecting its software to address the shifting needs and expectations of its user base.
